The brisk cold air was the first thing Akarui noticed as he woke early in the morning in his room in the reaper fort. Moving throughout the dark apartment Akarui lit various lanterns that would give him light this early in the morning. Akarui moved to the center of his living room and cleared a space for his morning ritual. Deeply breathing the Reaper sat on the hard floor and cleared his mind. He listened to the various noises that could be heard and isolated them. He focused on guards passing by and keyed into small noises that echoed through the fortress. Somewhere in the training grounds, a rookie was trying to get practice in before sunrise to impress their mentor, while in another sector of the compound a group of friends loudly joke over breakfast. After an unmeasured amount of time Akarui slowly moved into another position and held it for a time before switching once again. The final position he held was a plank where his feet were not touching the ground. He held this until he could feel a slight burn in his core and slowly tucked his legs in once again sat down on the ground.

With his routine over Akarui began heating some tea and went to take a bath. He took his time until he could hear the shrill whistle of the pot warning him of his finished drink that he had left. Nursing the tea Akarui combed out his hair then pondered what to do with it for a moment. Eventually, he decided to let a majority of it hang down while braiding a few small parts so that he could tie some jewelry into his hair. Getting dressed Akarui chose simple a simple black shirt along with matching pants. They were simple loungewear that would keep him comfortable as he planned on relaxing and working on his art today.

Akarui pulled out his supplies and a partly finished piece that had seemingly been set to the side behind a few other portraits. It was of a beautiful Sylve woman with white hair, well at least it would have been if the face had been completed. In the center of the portrait, there was simply a hole where the features were yet to be painted. Akarui glanced at the face for a moment with displeasure before turning towards the edges. He began focusing on small specific features, features that would only be noticed by the one that put them there. For a while, Akarui avoided the obvious glaring problem with his art piece, until he couldn’t avoid it any longer. Slowly he raised a brush towards the face and held it there until he set the brush down before making a mark.

This was the portrait of Suzune he had been working on, and he had been stuck on it for a while now. It wasn’t that he couldn't remember her face, but he didn’t know what expression to give her. He didn’t want to paint her sad, but he also wasn’t comfortable painting her happy. The painting featured her sitting in their childhood home, and if she had left obviously Suzune had not been happy there. Unsure of what to do Akarui pondered staring at the portrait for a long time until he was awoken from his focus by a light knocking.

Quickly the Reaper moved his supplies to the side and covered the piece with a sheet of linen. While heading towards the door Akarui couldn’t help but notice his sword, Dākuejji, leaning on the door frame. Akarui reached forward and slid open his door to find his “student” Tsukihana waiting for him with her arms crossed. Looking at her for just a moment Akarui could guess the reason for her visit by the fact she was wearing her gear. Akarui leaving his door open stepped back inside to slide on a pair of sandals and made his way out the door. Once he closed the door Akarui turned towards his companion and nodded a greeting to her before making his way down the hallway.

“I assume he expects us to report before him immediately for our briefing?”

Kalla

"I don't care if it's a thief or a 'Tinker Imp'. Look at what it did with my shoes! Those ribbons were made of fine silk, you know? Not exactly something one would find in a street stall..." Maeve said as she heard Kallen comment about the tinker imp being a thief, obviously very mad at the small imp for having taken the silk ribbons.

Maeve raised her eyebrows as Kallen said that he might be able to resolve the problem, before suddenly went towards his room. Allanon, seeing that, raised his arms, seemingly as confused about the whole situation as Maeve herself was.

"Believe-me Allanon, I am as confused as you are. The only thing I know is that if I don't get my silk ribbons back, I may... 'accidentally' freeze the Tinker Imp..." she said, crossing her arms. Judging by the tone of her voice, her words right now might not be just a joke...

It took only a moment until Kallen was back, carrying a large book with him. When everyone finally arrived at the inn, he began explaining what exactly a 'Tinker Imp' was, using the book as a reference. According to him, the little thief could be a valuable ally for them, should they be able to communicate with it.

As everyone sat down, either tending to their wounds, talking with each other or, like Bizdil, amused at how confused Allanon, and Maeve, by extension, were, she simply waited to see how that situation would end. Hopefully, she would find her ribbons again and no one would have to be frozen.

"Hilde is right. Unless we desperately need someone to help us to forge cutlery or maybe belt buckles, I don't know if it will be of much help to us..." she said, agreeing with Hilde.

Just as she said that though, Kistal said something about not letting anyone harm an 'innocent', saying something about a 'fellow beastman'. Maeve already disliked Kistal's very presence, but those words only made that even more apparent.

"'Innocent'... So that is what you call thieves now? Interesting... How does 'Hypothermia' sounds for you?"
she asked, almost hissing.

"With that said, I am not an unreasonable woman. I can at least hear it's reasoning. If it wants to remain unscathed though, it better have either a very good argument or hand me my ribbons though." she finished, clearly unsatisfied.

Though most seemed fine with not harming the imp, one even wanting to recruit it, Maeve instantly showed that she was far from versed in anything worldly. Kistal's nostrils flared and he glared at the Isoli. "Ah, yes, and we should apparently force our ideas of personal property onto a creature with no concept of it and an instinctual urge to scavenge. That would be akin to expecting an Isoli noble girl to ignore her nature and stop being a frigid bitch any time something doesn't go her way. Or, maybe we should tell the Isoli that enslaving people is bad, trying to deny their natural urge to put people like me in chains and kill their parents for nothing more than dropping a cheap cut of meat." He drew closer to Maeve, his lips curling into a cruel grin.

"Hypothermia happens if you can get cold. Magical ice or not, I am a goddamn satyr. The cold, high mountains are my home. Meanwhile, your kind sits in their palace, being their arrogant supremacist and racist selves, seeking to do nothing but ruin your homeland and shut out the world. At least I am honest about who I am and how many people I've killed and saved. You are threatening to kill over a useless bit of cloth. Can you say you are truly honest, Miss Frigid, after all those threats?"

Chihiro was focused on her food for a moment but soon looked up. Maeve's thinly veiled threat was bad enough, but now she was essentially asking Kistal to use his magic on her. Chihiro saw the handiwork of the satyr. He could mess with the mind of a sand worm and change people's bodies. That was far from an enemy she felt the frail looking Isoli would want. She stood up and drew her fans, choosing not to enter the situation yet as she hadn't decided who was more in the wrong. She had fought with Kistal and knew he was highly protective of certain types of people. She also knew he didn't hold back if he felt someone needed to die. But, she was tentative to side with Maeve since she was casually threatening the imp that could very well die from the attack she mentioned.

Tali, much like Chihiro, poised herself to intervene but couldn't figure out who she wanted to protect. The Isoli was cute and seemed to want to escape her past but Kistal was genuine and, in Tali's eyes, overall right in his assessment of Maeve. She was quite a frigid girl in the baths, jumping to a temper at the slightest thing. Kistal, though, was obviously also ready to get aggressive. Tali wanted no violence if she could help it, but she would show her full demonic strength if need be.

Khatia's arrival was both early, as usual, and before anyone was ready for her, which was unusual. She was so early that her coming in scared a few of her women. She just smiled and gave out a few notes of a whistle. "Alright, my dears, everyone that should be there should go to the planning room. All my other sweeties, get ready for a bit of a fun day. We have a target and it moves out within the hour."

She went to the planning room, a conspicuous amount of rolled scrolls under one arm and a package in the other. Passing her second in command, she smiled at Linoa sweetly. "Come along, dusky dear. We have so many things to discuss and so many plans to make."

Kallen cleared his throat. "Oh believe me, the idea of drawing the final curtain on this creature is one I am not completely opposed to." His tone was calm, but it clearly restrained something more sinister. He tapped the eye patch he wore. "This Tinker Imp stole a very important item from me. If I did not have a spare I'd be spending every single day until I could create a replacement risking constant mana exhaustion. I'm sure an Isoli like yourself is fully aware of the risks behind that?"

He looked over to the imp. "I have more reason than any to deal with a potential danger, however, I am not ignorant to a potential opportunity. I am more than willing to create a win for everyone." His gaze turned back to Maeve. "You may not see it now, but a deal with a rare creature such as this could create something more unique and valuable than what was taken from you. Would you prefer to satisfy your temporary need for revenge, or gain a valuable tool that can last a lifetime?"

Tinker Imps were out of Allanon's realm of expertise. He had built an information network around Calabris operations with the assistance of the Red Saints and smaller groups that were not fond of the powerful family. He did not believe that it could be much of a help, but perhaps the Tinker Imp could prove itself.

Things between Maeve and Kistal turned extremely sour. "Lady Maeve, do you really believe your response toward either Kistal or the imp is warranted? Is the crime of theft something worthy of a death threat? Such a small creature could die if frozen. I definitely agree about the doubts in regards to the crafting capabilities of this Tinker Imp, however, I am not interested in a punishment that far outweighs the crime. Also, I don't understand your animosity towards Kistal. I know the interactions you have had with him around me are moments where he has not been at his best, but to threaten him like this is far from a just action, and I will not stand for injustice."

Allanon rose from his seat and looked at Kallen straight in the eyes. "Let's get back on topic. You say there is a potential opportunity here? I will trust your instinct, but the Tinker better be able to prove it. Why not give it a test?" Allanon drew one of his throwing knives from his bandolier and placed it on the table. "Let's see if it can craft a replacement for this blade. You'll pay for the material since you're willing to make this call considering you've lost the most from this creature."

Allanon was honestly impressed that Kallen was willing to give some favor to this Tinker in spite of losing an important item to it. He was all too familiar with seeing the effects of mana exhaustion, and he could imagine how awful the experience could be to suffer something like that for an extended period of time.

Kallen nodded as he closed his tome. "Very well." He turned and strode over to Suzune. "Suzune, do you happen to have fresh peaches? I'll buy a dozen if you do." He hesitated as he realized his money was upstairs right now. "I'll be right back with the money." He was going to need it if he was going to cover the material cost for the new weapon anyways. The trickiest part would be to convince the Tinker... if he could communicate with the damn thing.

Tyrael looks at Lyn. For a moment, there was a certain... Warmth within him. But he shut this thought away quickly. "Do not. You need to focus on the task at hand. Not base desires." Kneeling at the water's edge, Tyrael took off his gauntlets and washed them. Then he moved his hands underneath his helmet and turban, wiping his face with the cool water. It would be some time before he'll get another wash like this, so he would savor the feeling while he could. Once he was satisfied her looked over to Lyn. "Yes, we should try and make the most preparation we can. I have already upgraded my equipment as best as I can with what the village had, so I am good on that front. Let us go and get something to eat, and see if anyone else here knows anything about the artifact you're looking for. The chances are slim, but not zero." Standing back up, Tyrael offered a hand to Lyn before he would put his gauntlet back one. His hands were rough and calloused, like sandstone. After she stands Tyrael puts his gauntlets back on and turns around. "The tavern is over there. A good place to start as any."

Linoa turned around surprised and let out a sigh. “Khatia, you get earlier with every visit! And even if it leaves in an hour, it will still be a few days to get here,” she smirked. “Autumn doesn’t seem to be feeling well. The night guard said she could hear her a little bit last night. I guess it’s safe to let her sleep. As Hera and Ska’ayla started to walk by, both visiting from Portea with Khatia, Linoa spotted a piece of paper with a minimal amount of writing on a clipboard that Hera had.

Hera sighed, “You could have just asked if you needed it,” she said dryly as she handed Linoa a pen.

“Yes, but where is the fun in that? Besides, only need some of it,” she said as she tore off the written section and handed it back to Hera who now had an thrilled eyebrow raised. Linoa wrote a letter to Autumn about them being in the meeting room for a bit and slid it under the door.

“Don’t you think you baby her a little too much?” Ska’ayla asked, her arms crossed. “This is more than important enough to have her wake up. No need to keep pampering her after all this time.”

“I don’t baby anyone, Ayla” Linoa said as she leaned in towards her. She casually traced Ayla’s opposite side jaw to her chin with one of her nails, turning Ayla’s head towards her. “Well, not unless they want me too.” The knowing face Linoa made and the reddened on Ayla made was all too telling.

“Sh-shut up, just get the others together…”

“Hmmhmm~,” Linoa hummed happily. It didn’t take long to get the others in the meeting room. Hera, Ayla, Milly, Yiris, and Linoa all waited to discuss Khatia’s next hit. “Where’s Maple? We are missing our little something sweet.”

“Maple stayed in Portea to act as an aid for the caravan for this raid,” Hera explained. “She will provide healing support for any unwanted casualties on either side of this raid, as well as be our little indicator on which caravan we are hitting. She’ll be in the middle cart, facing the strike team side, so she should be safe.”

“I don’t like it... ,” Ayla grumbled, “I don’t like her in harm’s way.”

“Aw, look who’s babying operatives now,” Linoa teased.

“Well come on, it’s not like she’s a fighter,” Ayla argued. She would have gone herself, but she was a bit too notorious to do so.

Meanwhile, despite the noise, Yiris was, as usual, asleep at the table.

Ren would find the three cargo carts, each with two drivers so that one can relieve the other and pulled by two horses, right where the job listing indicated. There were a few other bounty hunters that were milling about waiting to leave, and one person that seemed to be in charge making sure all was ready to go. It was a middle aged balding man in plain, well worn clothes and peppered hair, what was left of it anyway. He turned around and saw Ren approaching, revealing his hilariously long mustache and a cracked monocle.

“Well, it seems we have another helper for this trip. I’m glad we put the extra benches on the sides of the carts now,” he mentioned, jerking a thumb at the carts. On the sides, over the wheels, were small supported platforms locked into the wall and shaped to be mildly comfortable for a long ride. This was a design kicked off by merchants for mercenaries to ride and quickly dismount and deploy if attacked, as well as a method to keep eyes all around the carts. “I see you have your proof of acceptance?” he asked, holding out a hand for the paper. Once he had it, he felt for the impression in it to make sure it was official and then folded it away. “You get your down payment at the delivery point and the rest once we return here. Luckily, there are quite a number of amazing stores in Midrill to make the trip back interesting enough. Usually people are busy fiddling with new purchases, it helps the time pass on the way back.”

Among the group of mercenaries, there was one girl who was already in a seat in the middle cart, swinging her legs alternatively forward and back. She had brown hair with a loose short braid in the back and vibrant hazel eyes. She wore a simple green dress with a white apron and a leather satchel, quietly waiting for the start of the trip, she seemed to be taking notes in a small handbook.

Tsukihana looked from Akarui to an easel in his room, linen sheet still swaying from being freshly tossed on. She sighed a knowing sigh and looked back to him. It seemed he was still in his casual clothes and was about ready to throw his sandals on and run out. “He summoned us, yes, but I don’t believe it is so urgent that you couldn’t finish getting ready. The messenger didn’t seem to be in a hurry either, but I wouldn’t think letting him wait too long would be good. Is… everything alright?” she asked. Oddly enough, at the same time she asked this, getting a closer look at her, Akarui would see signs of combat. Some marks on her gear, and some cuts on her hands, including some bruising, on her chin in particular.

She didn’t seem to let any of it show. In fact she acted as if everything was normal, but most anyone who knows of Tsuki knows better. Tsuki, though at the top of her ranks, never remained unchallenged by reapers trying to prove themselves. Whether they thought her lack of natural abilities made her an easy target, or the fact that her rank was stagnant meant she wasn’t strong, many used her as a proving ground of sorts, and Tsukihana never refused a challenger, even if she thought she may lose. It was dishonorable to refuse, though it was also dishonorable to challenge people far beneath you in rank. For those punching up, however, it was widely encouraged, but not often employed due to the power difference in some ranks. With Tsuki, however, she often not only would be a popular target for those previously mentioned, but she was consistently a target of higher born reapers, which only seemed to solidify their hate if she had won against them.

Tsukihana hadn’t decided to talk about any challenges this morning, but it was so common for her that she hadn’t really cared to for a few years now, it’s just how things were. “If… you don’t mind, may I clean up a little before seeing the captain?” she asked with a small bow.

“That is enough,” Suzune said sternly and just loud enough to be heard by all in the room. It was punctuated by a light wave of wind that washed across all more like a sonic boom than a breeze. “I will not have any fighting here. I would think that all of you may have had your fill,” She stated, looking around the room but particularly between Maeve and Kistal. “You are all welcome here, and we thank you for what all of you have done, but I will not allow anyone to make a mess of things here. You should be saving that energy for the road and eating up while you can, before it gets cold.”

At that moment, sensing the tension in the room from Suzune, Allard came lumbering in from the back rooms, as if he had recently rolled out of bed. “Well now, ‘avin’ a bit of a scrap this early in tha mornin’ are we?” He rested his giant hand on Suzune’s shoulder and gave her a broad smile and nod, letting her know he would talk to them. Meanwhile, he noticed a plate of food out, proportioned for him, and took it eagerly. Bidzil, Nix, and even Hilde watched as he took an appreciative bite from the food, knowing that wasn’t all he’d have to say.

“Mmm, not often she gets ta make these,” Allard mentioned as he set down the steam bun. He then turned to the two who were arguing. “Alright… I dun know all tha details, but from tha other side of tha wall, I think I got tha jist. Critter in that vase took sumthin’, now it’s got people riled up. Ya know… I’ve lost a lot of things in life, still am it seems,” he started, Dorran still heavy on his heart. “But there is not a ‘thing’ I’ve lost that was worth someone else’s life. These objects, this house, hell, tha shirt on my back. I could lose it all, and aye, there would be fury. However, it’s when people are hurt. That right there is where I draw my line. Kistal. In you there is a fire that burns, a will to help others from ones that would mean harm, even strangers like us. You have seen tha worst that people in this world have ta offer, and it has left a sensitive hatred in your heart. Maybe the wounds are still fresh, or too deep to forget. There is use in that hatred, but don’t let it cloud your judgement. People say things in anger that don’t always line up with their heart.” He nodded to Kistal, before moving on.

“Maeve. Aye, it can be frustration’ ta lose somethin’ of yur own, taken right out from under yur nose. Not only was your property tampered with but, yur privacy trespassed. However, there are some cultures, and especially most creatures, that have no such concept of things like ‘theft’ and ‘property’. Though I’d imagine some have an inklin’,” he mentioned, raising an eyebrow to the vase Nix carried, “but sometimes nature wins out. I know your heart better than I know Kistal’s. I know of his deeds at tha old temple that tha bandits made their home, yet I know your deeds first hand. Most our strongest warriors were off ta find our missing girls, you took it upon yourself ta help fight. Even when I fell, you were there ta get me to tha temple and even help treat patients when little Neev was run ragged.”

Allard reached over and grabbed a tankard, filling it up and taking a swig. After a couple gulps and half the tankard gone he continued. “Helps with tha soreness,” he chuckled. “What I’m tryin’ ta say is, you are both good people fightin’ on tha same side. Neither of ya should let somethin’ small as this get under ya skin. I watched tha little bugger run off with one of ma’tankards last night. Glass one at that. Found shards of it in tha bathroom sink ‘for the night was over. What I’m tryin’ ta say is, lives are what’s important, not things. So think clearly about both before ya take a step forward. An fur Krogan’s sake, yur all tha good sort, dun let some little tiff like this turn ya sour. Cuz if ya wreck the tavern, Suzune might drag ya ta tha arena ‘erself,” Allard finished with a laugh and another swig before continuing with his food.

Suzune looked over to Kallen when he asked about the peaches. “Actually, I do. There is a small peach that we can grow here, smaller than the ones in the scar, but they are quite sweet in comparison.” She went over to a small basket and pulled a towel covering to the side. She picked out the best one she could find and brought them to Kallen. “Don’t worry about paying,” she said with a smile. There were about ten plum sized peaches that she placed in a simple cloth sack and handed them to Kallen, interested in what he might try. Almost by instinct, if Kallen were to peer over to the vase, the top of the tinker’s head could be seen poking out juuuust enough for the eyes to be locked onto whatever just went into that bag.

It was at this time that Lynn and Tyreal entered the inn as well, Lynn following just behind the larger ‘lady’. Lynn sniffed the air experimentally. “Oh my, it smells wonderful in here,” she told Tyrael, “What is that scent?” This drew a quizzical look from Bidzil as to him it seemed obvious. But cooked food was a bit of an oddity for Lynn, as it was a rare occurrence that she ran into it. Most of the food of the sea required little to no cooking for her people, especially those that mostly lived in the water.

Allard shifted in his seat after a couple bites and turned back to the rest of the crowd. “So, you two finally came around, find yurselves somewhere comfortable, Suzune’ll have ya somethin’ ta eat shortly,” Allard said, greeting the two that just came in. “Alright, fur tha rest of ya, I been curious. After here, where are ya gonna head off to?

Bidzil was quick to answer, not afraid to share anything like this as he didn’t feel it was anything important to hide. “I want to try to find all the other treasures of the oracle. I know Krogan’s soul stone, which… admittedly I didn’t think it would house a fragment of his actual soul in it, but I know it is lost and there is a ring of sorts in Portea. Then there is the holy waters of Tundral, Sylph’s scythe, and the Crystal Sea’s trident,” he continued, pulling out a small worn book from a pouch, with a couple pages bookmarked with ribbon and dogeared in places. He opened it up to one of these bookmarks. “Aaaand a tome of sorts from-,”

“Did you say Crystal Sea trident!” Lynn called out, suddenly catching everyone’s attention. Lynn then looked a bit sheepish at the attention. “O-oh, sorry, I-I didn’t mean to interrupt, it’s just… That’s why I came out all this way. It’s been... taken,” she explained, her ears drooping a bit.

“By who?” Hilde asked, smelling more adventure on the horizon and not noticing how interested she was getting. Allard raised an eyebrow, picking up on just exactly what was happening.

“We… aren’t sure. At first, these visitors had requested the trident peacefully, but they grew desperate," Lynn started to explain. "We couldn't recognize the armor they wore, and they had these staves that were a blend of metal and wood that would cast such powerful spells before we knew what happened. Even the gruskans of legend couldn’t have casted magic so fast. It was easy for them to make their way into the temple, despite it being under water, and then they made off with the trident. They only attacked those that stood in their way, but that was still a large portion of our people, since most are trained in some way to defend ourselves.”

Allard wiped his mouth and beard with a napkin and thought for a moment. “These are dangerous winds stirrin’. Should these treasures actually do what the old legends say, then if anyone were ta gather ‘em all, who knows what could happen.”

“That’s exactly why I want to gather them!” Bidzil said standing up. “I admit it… at first, I wanted to use them for myself to restore my town, thinking that this would just be some old legend nobody believed in anymore and taking a chance… But look at this now! If there are this many people looking for it, I have to make sure they are found. I… I don’t know what I’ll do once I find them, but…,” he said, settling back down, plopping in his chair. “Maybe if I could ask the oracle to do away with the ability to summon the Vanishing Kingdom so nobody can use it.”

Allard watched the boy carefully, sizing him up and weighing his words. “Boy… If you were given the chance to have or do anything, would that really be your wish? Forsake the very reason you started all of this for everyone else?”

Bidzil looked up to meet Allard in the eyes, watching them intently before giving a strong nod, “Yes… If it stops all of this… yes.”

“Interesting,” Allard responded, scratching his beard.

“If you are going to gather them, I want to come with you,” Lynn declared. “I need to make sure that the Trident goes back to it’s rightful resting place, and-”

“Hold on, hold on,” Allard interrupted. “Before anyone starts getting riled up, there is one more part ta that ol tale. Ya need one more thing fur all of that ta work. You have a transcendent you know that's willing to sacrifice themselves to summon tha Oracle?”

The room went silent, as most didn’t know the tale of the Vanishing Kingdom and the Oracle. Nothing about Allard seemed jolly at the moment. He was putting Bidzil’s real character on the line, and for a moment, Allard was thinking that there may be something more sinister behind Bidzil than what he put on.

“A-a sacrifice!? Wait, what kind of ritual is this? We can’t ask or make someone to sacrifice themselves for something like that, it would be better to destroy the treasures-” Hilde started, but Bidzil quietly stood up and started taking off his jacket, letting it fall to hang from his waist at the belt.

“I do, actually…,” he said. You could hear a pin drop as they stared at Bidzil, some confused, but most likely none that went to the encampment and actually knew what transcendants were. Lynn backed away from him for a moment, not sure what to think. Bidzil closed his eyes and slowly summoned his wing, which if done slowly enough, didn’t rip from his back like it did before, though it was still fairly painful as he visibly gritted his teeth. If Allanon were behind him, he would notice that the wing emerged from the scar he saw on his back the other day. “Me… If I need to, I will gladly do what is necessary.” Immediately, any mana boosting effect would fade and anyone being able to feel such things would feel it, and slowly as Bidzil switched from supplying mana to pulling mana from nature, he would slowly be bathed in a very dim glow. “But from the looks of what has happened here, I don’t think I will be able to do it alone. I know it’s way more than what anyone should ever ask, but… I could use all the help I can get. I understand if some of you don’t want to help me with this, I get it, but I haven’t seen stronger people in all my life. I don’t have anywhere else to go back to. I was gone whem Trantis was attacked for a reason… this has to be it,” he ended confidently.

As Ren waited for the man to be done speaking she listened about Midrill she had never done shopping there before so she wondered about the things she could buy. Meandering towards the wagons Ren looks at the other bounty hunters milling about but there seemed there was someone already seated and alone just waiting to leave. It was a girl swinging her legs in a plain green dress. She seemed very nice, however, Ren was a bit nervous to approach anyone she was technically still on the run and distrusting of others no matter how nice they seemed. Anyways it would be bothersome if Ren had interrupted whatever she was writing. Ren knew the frustration from losing a train of thought.

Seemingly this girl didn't seem to be too bad to travel with so Ren decided to sit on the same wagon but on the opposite side of the wagon as her as to keep some distance. With her bow on her lap she sits down as they prepare to set out. Wondering aloud to herself.

“It's annoying but I must keep moving otherwise something bad might happen. If only Sahale were around I could find out more.”

Shaking her head of the thought she had other things to focus on she had a weird gut feeling that Sahale wouldn't be around forever and it seemed to be in a bad time but no matter. Ren had to carry on. Sitting further back on the bench she brings her knees to her chest and crosses her arms over them. As the wagons are about ready to set off.

Allanon patiently waited and observed as everything happened around him. The two new women. Bidzil's explanation of his goal. The grand reveal of him being a Transcendent. An ancient legend. A legendary existence. A legendary quest. The scale of everything from the previous night with the bandits and the Calabris family, and the interruption of the hyperactive kobold just completely blew up beyond anything he could imagine. Allanon was well adjusted to overwhelming grand scale situations, but this was something on a completely higher level.

He looked down at his wife's sword in his hand as he considered the path before him. He could return to Portea to continue thwarting Calabris operations, or he could join Bidzil to play a supporting role in a quest to bring back a city from the dead. It seemed that other forces were after the power that did not necessarily have the best in mind for the world. It was clear the Calabris family definitely had an interest. The odds are if they knew Bidzil was a Transcendent they would likely come for him.

"Kid," Allanon stood next to Bidzil and bumped his shoulder lightly with his fist. "Don't go showing that around strangers. There are powers greater than any single one of us at play. If Krogan's Soul is a key part of this ritual that means the Calabris family wants to put their hands on this ritual. Then there's that kobold's master. I don't know much about Jeevak, but from what Chihiro said he's bad news. If either party gets their hands on you I can guarantee it won't be your wish that will be fulfilled, but theirs." He gave Bidzil a sad look. "I don't like the idea of you sacrificing yourself, but I can understand the desire to help the world become a better place. I will guard you, so that those that would bring darkness to the world don't get their hands on you, and I will teach you how to fight with a sword." He had spent the last near decade asking himself what the best way to fulfil the promise he made to Marisa was, and he now realized that it was this. "This I swear both on my name, Allanon Valentis and the promise I made to my wife, Marisa Kane."

"Thank you for your charity Madame Suzune," Kallen said joyfully as he graciously accepted the peaches. He couldn't help but notice out of the corner of his eye the imp sneaking a peak at them. He trotted back to the table just as Bidzil was displaying his wing, and Kallen noticed something was off. First off, he was quite amazed about Bidzil being a transcendent. Of all the things that were a part of the ritual to summon the Oracle by far the most unlikely to find among each of the legendary objects a transcendent was the most elusive. Second, he felt the steady drain on his mana as if his eye patch were not working. It didn't take long to connect the dots.

"Can you please stop that?" Kallen asked Bidzil calmly. "It's interfering with the magic on my eyepatch." Transcendent had many miraculous powers, and they constantly pulled magic in close proximity. It appeared Kallen was close enough now that he was back at the table for his eye patch to be effected. He now worried that it might permanently remove the seal on the eye patch, and he worried about what it might do to his magical chest. In some ways it was a living thing, but in others it was still an object. Fortunately, it was still in his room.

Kallen then pulled a peach from the sack and knelt to get on the same level as the imp to present the peach. This first offering was intended to be a peace offering. The next would be payment for the crafting of a new dagger. The challenge would be figuring out how to communicate.

Kalla

Maeve let out an acid, sarcastic laugh as she heard Kistal's words, unfazed by his threats and his posture. Despite that, her hand was still on her rapier and both her eyes and the temperature, which was rapidly dropping around her were a clear, nonverbal warning to both Kistal and anyone nearby.

"Thieves, murderers and liars are indeed all birds of the same flock, aren't they?" she said, looking to Kistal with a disgusted expression.

"It is amusing how your attitude serves only to further reaffirm all the prejudice and reputation the beastmen have. I wonder if you are even aware of that..." she said.

"Without even a modicum of education or respect, you see everything that happens as an affront against your 'kind' and, true to the reputation your kind has, your first answer is insults, threats or even violence..." Maeve continued.

"I wonder how much of an inferiority complex one should have in order to think that a traveler, a complete stranger, entering an inn and politely asking for something to eat and drink was calling him a 'servant'. You owe waiters an apology, don't you think so?" she said with a sarcastic chuckle, referring to the first time she met him after arriving on Kalla.

"Oh, and you should be very careful with your assumptions about me... Many have paid dearly for thinking I am just a naive little princess. I am proud of who I am, of my name and my hometown. Tundral stands proud and mighty and will continue to do so, despite what happens in the outside world and I am a reflection of that. While I am definitely above crude and barbaric beasts like yourself, I am not afraid of resorting to violence when needed. The rapier I carry isn't just for show." she finished, with a cold stare towards Kistal.

"Ignorantia legis neminem excusat. Ignorance of law excuses no one. I care not who it is or where it came from, the fact that it does not know law doesn't make it any less wrong for it to have invaded my privacy and stolen my posessions. Be it my rapier or even the silk from my shoes, even if it had stolen a piece of paper, it doesn't matter. Would you all say the same if someone arrived on Kalla, killed someone and gave you a similar excuse?" she said, this time addressing not only Kistal, but Allanon and anyone else who spoke. Her hostility clearly extending to them as well instead of just Kistal.

"You were all so quick to turn against me that you ignored the fact that I never mentioned I would kill anyone. Punishing is different from killing. If I didn't know how to control myself, all the arrogant and ignorant nobles who dared to duel me back in Tundral would be either missing limbs or worse." she said with an acid tone.

As Suzune shouted and Allard arrived, Maeve's disgust with the entire situation and how outraged she was with everything couldn't be more apparent. By now, a thin layer of ice began covering the ground around her, quickly expanding outwards as the situation continued to take such a ridiculous turn.

"You should lower your voice when speaking to me, Suzune. I am merely defending myself from someone who is clearly threatening me. Or should I simply forgive them and let them threaten me because some creatures do not have the concept of 'education' and 'courtesy'?" Maeve said, completely unfazed by the gust of wind coming from Suzune, which only made the ice around her react even more violently, it's surface cracking and ice growing from beneath.

"We have known each other for only two days, Allard. Don't you dare tell me you 'know my heart'. If you truly did, I wouldn't be hearing those words. Even after everything that I did for this town, despite being a complete outsider, I am still treated like this." she continued.

"While the theft does annoy me, the fact that I was treated like this, despite risking my own life for this town is what enrages me. I will not stand by after being disrespected like this. You were all so quick to turn against me and chastise me, not even bothering to hear my words." she said, shaking her head, disappointed as she began walking away.

"I didn't bring much with me, my room is already empty. My stay was already paid for and the silk that was stolen from me should be more than enough compensation for any inconvenience, given it's price." she said towards Suzune and Allard as she began walking towards the exit.

As she was doing so, she couldn't help but hearing Bizdil speaking about some kind of treasures he wanted to gather before exitting the inn. While Maeve didn't really care about what happened to Bizdil, the story about the artifacts, including how many people sought them for their own reasons and the summoning of a certain 'Vanishing Kingdom' wasn't ignored by Maeve. Those were informations that she had to deliver to the Queen of Tundral. She wouldn't just stand idly while her country could potentially be invaded... It would be prudent to find a way to send this information directly to the Queen in a safe and discreet manner.

Amidst all the fighting, the stories, and the comings and goings of people he had never seen before, yet were familiar with the rest of what seemed to be a group of adventurers, Ingoleth got bored paying attention to such childish concepts and pulled out his flute, playing a silent, calming tune akin to an old lullaby that reminded him of Automn. Soon enough, he was lost in his own melody, his eyes closed and unconsciously creating illusions of falling maple leaves drifting in an imaginary wind.

Dix was the complete opposite, floating around the entire place excitedly, taking in the sight of chaos' purest form, a good'ol bar argument. She really hoped this escalated further...

When he felt a change in atmosphere, Ingoleth stopped playing and opened his eyes only to be greeted with a single winged Bidzil. Rubbing his eyes and taking another look, he was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasnt a trick of the light, and whoever that man was, had already caught Ingoleth's attention. He holstered his flute and stood, "I know not your name nor your task, but im willing to accompany you and help out with your task for one simple reason. No other bard will ever compete with a tale such as this one, let alone witness it!"

He then turned his attention to Kallen who was trying to offer a peach to the tinker inside its tinker vase cave. "Speaking of the Tinker... i say we keep it. A single stroll around Portea and i could provide all the materials it could ever dream of. Things are cheap, talent is expensive. It didnt steal anything of sentimental value, did it?"

“Yo, Copy, come check this out,” Zeph called to Zephel. He was standing at his desk slapping his hand on a large binder. The hangar office was cluttered with parts, notes, random scribblings, some adult reading material, and food wrappers. It was obvious that Zeph had another binge session of drafting from the bags under his eyes and stupid grin. “I think we’ve about got it. In this binder right here is all the blueprint material for the Grande Dame. If we are lucky, we can have an airship by the end of the year now! It’s just… well… we lack materials, and the budget is nearly all burnt up.”

He turned around and looked at other blueprint books. “I mean, we can try to build smaller personal craft to start, but I want to build the Grande Dame as my flagship. Uhg, Yiris always knew how to get some cash, but since she’s left, I’ve come to find out I’m not so frugal. If you can, could you find a few bounties to knock out? You are used to doing all that adventuring stuff, I can get us a head start while you are out.”

Zephel Ragnikai

"Who the hell you calling a copy anyway?" Zephel grumbled over a spoiled jar of milk and sugarless grains he was forced to consume both for nutrients and his lack of funds. He sighed. "If only I could eat electricity." He looked at the sketches of Zeph's grand plan, the Grande Dame. Something he's been planning for a long time, even Zephel was curious of how he would get it all to work. Smaller crafts were one thing, but a large airship was unheard of. Only in theory books did it exist. "Alright. I think it's about time I went out and caught us some bounties. I need to reward myself with a juicy steak." He seemed to be in heaven suddenly, his eyes seeing something not there. He stumbled his way to the door in this stupor, forgetting he had a bowl of food once reaching the door and spilling it outside and some on himself. He wiped himself off. "Ah. Shit. I hope none hit my electric lining." He began walking down the road while still fussing over the stains he may have. Bowl tarnished on the ground behind him.

He came to a wanted bounty poster. These things were kept up to date. He looked it over a bit to see what was there exactly, and what would be worth his time...

Maeve's outburst struck Kistal as somehow even more childish and bratty than expected. For someone like Kistal, that was an impressive feat. He said nothing, content to let her sabotage her own relationships. He was happy knowing she wouldn't remain a threat to the tinker imp, so he straightened up and put his hands on his hips, just watching the spectacle. As she approached the exit, he spoke a single sentence about her. "Good riddance to bad rubbish, then."

He then moved beside Nix, surprising her with some scratches behind her ears. "What do you think of all this, Nix? Politics and social hierarchies suck, don't they?" He looked at Allard, giving a small nod. "I had no intention of any further altercation unless she tried to harm anyone. I said my piece. She's the one that decided to treat everyone here like commoners that just spat on her favorite dress."

Chihiro crinkled her nose. Maeve's entire reaction reminded her why she tended to avoid the extremely wealthy areas of cities. That reaction was far more than necessary and far more hostile than reasonable. She decided not to comment and instead moved behind the bar, placing both hands on Suzune's shoulders. Leaning in, she whispered low about the earlier request. "Perhaps now would be better to discuss that topic. It's much lighter than this."

Tali placed her hand over her mouth to stifle a giggle at the tirade. As much as Maeve tried to say she was different than the other nobles, she kept proving she was just like them. She needed a reality check and potentially someone to guide her to actually know how to act within normal society. However, Tali wasn't willing to follow her just yet. She was too angry and worked up to be in any way rational. Instead, Tali took it upon herself to take multiple helpings and enjoy the food before it cooled.
