In another area of the mall, Origami jogged down the mall corridor, turning her head slightly when she was flanked by another. Pulling on a red bandana that covered half her face, she nodded in greeting. She didn't know very much about Gravitas. Then again, she didn't know much about most of them. She hadn't exactly gone out of her way to do so, either.

"You look a bit ill. Don't puke. Anyway - you see those two?" She pointed out a pair of red hoodies in sunglasses. "They're the ones causing the chaos. Why? Don't know. I actually don't even care. But I've counted at least 10 so far and I've been here about as many minutes. We stop them, and maybe have enough time to catch the weekend sales." Was that a joke? It was at least an attempt.

Origami tucked an expensive looking earbud in one ear, under the bandana. A faint, thumping beat could be heard. Her head started to bob in time with it. "Later, Gravitas." With that, Origami leaned forward just a bit, and then picked up speed. It wasn't anything so flashy as a proper speedster, but ten steps down the corridor and she still hadn't hit full acceleration. The two kids in red were coming up quick, and they wouldn't know what hit them.

There was the faintest sound of the rustling of paper, and then Billy 2 was promptly kicked in the back of the head. "Agh, what the f-" His curse was cut short by a pair of punches as Origami popped him twice in the mouth, twisted and weaved out of the way of his return haymaker.

Billy 1 came from behind, winding up for a punch. The paper that was twisting in the air got in the way, and was suddenly as thick as stone. "Owwww!" He shook his hand, and Origami dropped to the ground on her back, legs helicoptering in a sweep that took him down at the knees.

As Billy 2 moved in, she moved out of the spinning sweep, lifted herself up on her hands and pushed, kicking him in the face with both feet. Something unexpected happened, then. Billy 2 more or less exploded, ruining Origami's fluid dance and dropping her to the ground.

"Oof! Merde!" She swore, wincing as she picked herself up and tried to find the rhythm against the last opponent.

After a roll of her eyes, Arina had dispersed once more, surveying the area. It hadn’t taken long for a thin layer of smoke to fill the area around Origami, and from above, she observed. As the girl was knocked down by the explosion she decided to intervene. The girl got to her feet and engaged with the last duplicate, however behind her, another duplicate appeared, silently advancing to attack from behind. The smoke didn’t seize him until the last second, his hand up to strike, it wrapped around his body, entering his eyes, nose, mouth and ears, filling his body. Gritting his teeth, he stiffly lowered his hand and stepped backwards, away from the girl.

She inwardly scoffed, ‘Stop resisting, you’ll only hurt yourself,’

His movements looked off for a moment as he jerked himself sideways and stumbled slightly before he slowly stood straight and stretched his limbs out, as if getting an idea of their mobility. As another duplicate spotted Origami, he was swiftly intercepted by the odd behaving clone and dropped to the floor. His gaze was dull as it slid sideways to Origami,

“You should be more careful,” his tone was apathetic as he stood straight, still looking oddly stiff.

By the time Apparition had finished her hostile takeover, the Billy that Origami had been fighting was defeated. She gave the other girl an arch look, her body subtly swaying to the beat. "Your assistance wasn't necessary." There was a moment's pause, before she continued. "But it was welcome. Do we know where the epicenter of these fools is? Can you sort through his mind and find out?" She wasn't sure that was something that Apparition could actually do. Honestly, this whole 'team' thing was a tricky business.

The clone turned to give the girl a blunt stare as she criticised the intervention - his lips tugged upwards, his eyes growing softer. The amusement was short lived however, she felt herself wavering again as the body struggled against her, there was a moment of struggle as he hunched over and grunted gritting his teeth.

‘You’re the only one who is going to suffer here,’ her voice sang through his head, yet he didn’t seem to care. She felt herself slipping, the smoke beginning to seep into the wrong areas as she tried to hold on, but the struggle was exhausting.

He threw his head back with a cut off yell as the smoke within him oxidised, suffocating him before it poured out of him and pooled on the floor. The duplicate dropped to the ground, dead as she reformed on her hands and knees gasping for breath.

After a moment, her widened icey eyes narrowed as she glared at the duplicate’s now lifeless body,
“Idiot,” she breathed. Her eyes flickered back up to Origami, her gaze softening as her hair fell over her face slightly.

“I didn’t need to sort through his mind to know he’s in the food hall somewhere,” her voice was slightly hoarse as she pushed herself upwards to her feet, folding her arms over her still bare chest.
▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅

“It’ll be a stretch, but I can probably possess one more time,” she mused, stretching her neck until it clicked, “You got any ideas?”

"Huh." Origami paced over as Apparition reformed. She yanked the red sweatshirt off the cooling body of the duplicate and held it out to the other girl, gaze politely focused elsewhere. "I didn't know that was lethal."

Arina tilted her head ever so slightly at the girl, her blank gaze flickering between the shirt she offered and her face, which was still turned away. She didn’t see the point in putting on clothes considering she’d just lose them again, but it occurred to her that she perhaps made Origami uncomfortable - and in the team spirit, she decided to meet the girl half way.

She mused a “Thanks,” as she took the sweatshirt and pulled it over her head. It fell to her mid thigh, incredibly large on her small form, and she pulled at the material slightly, trying to get comfortable. Her eyes were fixated on the collar of the shirt as she wrestled with it,

“Dude said something about a dude called Constantine and a lighter that summons a demon lord or some shit,” she tried to explain, “In any case, he’s looking for the lighter, I don’t know why it’s here, but apparently this Constantine thought it a good idea to lose demon lighter in the middle of a mall… what an idiot…”

Origami snorted, shaking her head. "Agreed. I hope he isn't on our side, because that would be an embarrassment. I suppose we could find it, and make him come to us?" Once she realized Apparition was redressed, she scanned the mall ahead. "Well, they were headed in that direction. Shall we?" She tapped her earpiece, the thumping bass just barely audible from the outside.

Arina looked in the direction Origami had directed and her gaze flickered between the girl and the Food Court for a moment before she nodded slightly, not bothering to disperse into smoke as she trailed behind the girl, her bare feet raised to their tip toes, as if she was trying not to touch the ground. She outstretched her arms as if she were balancing on a tightrope before she took a large step forward and elegantly clasped her hands behind her back as she strode in time with her teammate. Her ice blue eyes slid sideways at the girl and she pondered sparking a conversation, but the most she could come up with was,

‘Why so moody all the time?’

Which, she thought, was rude. So she decided against it, and walked with the girl in silence.

It was hard to tell if Chemaxzord was paying attention at any given time. The constant shifting of his body, lack of facial features along with a slew of other descriptors added up to a very hard to read creature so it was easy for the alien to get away with spacing out of the conversations happening in front of him. His mind focused more on how he was going to make his Temp job in 30 minutes across the city. His life on a spaceship didn't involve a lot of time management skills and as such the Oobleck with mechanical legs had been given many a slap on the metaphorical wrist about being late places. Eventually though the mean-green space man brought himself back to reality at the direct instructions given to him.

"PEOPLE. ME WITH OTHER DRAGONSON WILL HELP LIVE." Chemaxzord replied to the speedster, requiring no further clarifications as he hurdled his body haphazardly towards the boom tube after the Jet idea fell through.

ME had no mouth but he must puke. His whole body was basically a stomach so the nausea some of his comrades would feel after going tubin' was magnified ten fold for the amoeba on steroids. Barely able to keep himself together, Chemaxzord's form slumped over his artificial body, weakly shuffling the mechanical corpse across the floor as he half heartedly looked for civilians. There was the the sound of chaos in the air but that seemed to be pretty normal for malls given Chemaxzord's experience. It was a crowded place so screams and smashing sounds were to be expected right?

After slowly turning a corner, ME came across a group of civilians huddled inside a phone kiosk, away from the carnage. Mimicking a human gesture for 'getting ready' the alien slammed his mechanical hands together and began to rub, letting our an ear splitting metal-on-metal screech that had the unintended effect of drawing the scared survivors attention. Their fear tripled as alien stumbled towards them, still lacking his sea legs so to speak. Chemaxzord, with great effort, raised his slick appendages up to try to amplify his voice as he tried to reassure and direct the scared humans.

"SsslLllS... Wurb. Slllr..rRRlss bLURrRGbbBb...
SssrbbBBbSSsll... Lsswrmb... SAFE NOT..."

Chemaxzord was evidently still not well enough to even speak but whatever he said seemed to work as the civilians ran for the nearest exit, albeit screaming which seemed a little odd to ME. Content with his work, Chemaxzord moved onto another group of survivors currently dealing with their fear in a more destructive manner.

The group of similarly dressed civilians were dealing with their fear by tossing over some mall kiddie rides and routing through and overturned trash bin. This was very illegal but Chemaxzord was smart enough to know people did stupid things when fearing for their lives. ME took a bit of a breather as his outer membrane brought in a greater amount of air in the hopes of sorting out his sickness a bit better. With some renewed vigor, Chemaxzord approached the group who now took notice of him.

"Back off flubber, the lighter's mine." one of the red-garbed human said before ME could address them. The others didn't pay as much attention as they continued their search though they would steal a glance every now and then.

"ME AFFECTS BY LIGHT MUCH WITH THE TIME. NONE OF THE LIGHTING IS WILL BE GIVEN TO ME VIA ME. CHEMAXZORD IS TO BE ASSIST NOW EVACUATE. SAFE NOT CONTAINED MALL HERE. YOU GROUP WISE LEAVE. TOWARDS OUT." Chemaxzord replied, assuring the civilians of his noble intent and beginning to usher them towards the exits.

"What are you going on about? Just make like a tree before you get bent." the main civilian said as his friends turned their full attention now to ME.

TREE... STURDY... BLOCK WIND... PROTECT FROM WIND... PROTECTOR... BENT TO PROTECT! REQUEST BENT PROTECTION FOR LEAVEMENT! the alien thought as the figures of speech missed him by a mile and he took the insult as an invitation for heroics. Chemaxzord's arms extended from his mechanical body and quickly bent around the startled group of youngsters. ME's body turned around and began leading/dragging the group back towards the exit. They thrashed around a fair bit but ME chalked that up to fear of the situation they found themselves in and would not take it personally. As the trek went on, walking began to get tougher for the Earth foreigner. Checking back at the group, ME found more people added to the group, wriggling around which was now beginning to threaten the alien's grip.

"ME ARE NONE MORE TO THE CROWD. TOO GREAT WITH ME ABILITIES! CEASE!" Chemaxzord pleaded as he saw more civilians join the group from seemingly nowhere. Getting a bit desperate, the alien took some drastic measures. Unbeknownst to the 'civilians' at first, their red coats began to change, subtly at first and only those on the outside of the group, but soon the change moved quicker and to the core of group. As the group's coats turned to metal, Chemaxzord took a breath as they struggled in their shiny personal prisons. ME now dug in his heels and dragged the group to the doors of the building, shoving them outside so the proper authorities could help them out. Ever the airhead though, Chemaxzord forgot to unmetalfy their coats, leaving the group yelling and cursing as they sat on the ground, stuck together to be gawked at by their fellow civilians.

Post #1.02:Teenage Thermokinetic Warhead Incoming.

As quick as the team had joined forces to take on this mad man, did things literally go to crap. Flamebird despite a couple of fireball attacks didn’t seem to dent the force field Polaris had put up. But it got worse after the Shattercrash impact. The kinetic force was massive and the Pryrokinetic got to watch in awe as her team mate was yeeted out the roof. It was but a very brief distraction and amusement at how that all happened in a blink of an eye ‘Dam Girl’ Sarina thought to herself. Unfortunately, she ended up taking a few more hits herself from debris being flung about by Polaris, few more cuts and bruises on her face meant she wouldn’t be on a front magazine cover anytime soon. Sarina looked like she just came out of a rather violent mosh pit.

Soon enough Flamebird heard of a plan from Blitz, she would provide covering fire... literally in the hopes it would distract their foe long enough for Blitz and Accelerate to double assault him, she nodded to his order in agreement, problem how was the pair even going to get through the force field of his? She had an idea, sure it would still involve giving covering fire, but Flamebird knew she had to do something to overload that field of his. Problem was they were acting like a bunch of misfits as Polaris was right, they had their hands full with just one guy. Just about dodging another piece of god knows what flying around, Sarina blew a few strands of hair out of her face before looking at a scientist, like what is it with these guys? She wiped a bit of blood of her cheek. “What? Super speed, Don’t have it” She grabbed the arm of the cowering scientist that only just spoke to Oracle. “Now, out” She ordered only for him to begin a protest on what he just stated. “We heard! Out, NOW!” she glared at him before shoving him along, he didn’t need telling twice seeing her anger coming through. Hopefully that was the last of them.

This time though, her attention was fully on Polaris, "He is literally ripping the foundations out guys, whatever we have to do, make it end quick" It was around this time another distraction got hold of her, just when she was channelling for her big game plan to provide the all-important cover fire, a bright violet like from above was on its way down. Of course; what comes up must come down, and coming down she was, Shattercrash was coming in like a thermokinetic wrecking ball. Now the red head was in two minds, if her team mate made another contact with the field, would the blast kill them all? Isn’t no way she was going to die doing nothing, she it was either defend or attack. Things were happening fast though, accelerate did god knows what and before she knew it a message and medication appear, it had to be their resident speedster and not of the red kind. Also Sacrifice was doing his thing.

Everything was set in motion and Flamebird decided if she was to go down, then she was going down fighting so now to get Polaris's attention, her focus and anger all on him. it was like the criminal inside her was wanting to take over, but she had to stick to her plan. "Hey! Jackass!" Yep that ought to get his attention. Funnily enough it made her remember a conversation she had with Cyborg about curbing her foul language... It's a work in progress. Flames larger than anything she had shown yet in this battle conjured in both palms, reaching about halfway up both arms.

Channelling it she took a stance to steady herself before pushing out her arms in front of herself, hands touching at the end as a incredibly hot stream of flame streaked out and struck the field of the madman, it was flamethrower like, but this time she kept the pressure up, taking a few steps closer the stream of flame still unrelenting, She would continuous until it either the field failed of she could keep it up no more. "Don't expect me to keep this up forever" She said through gritted teeth, her suit taking a lot of pressure. Truth is, this was kind of new territory in how long she keeps a stream of flame going for against something so tough, it would be only a matter of time before blood would be coming out of her nose, she knew it was coming, signalling the strain it would be putting on her, but she had to try and overload the dam thing or die trying.

Everything was a blur. All of Cyborg’s systems were back online thanks to the quick work of Accelerate and not a moment too soon. One of the rookie heroes was falling from the sky back through the hole in the ceiling lit up like a bomb. Unknown to most her power was amplified by Sacrifice. Accelerate was mid-air on a collision course with the girl with a power dampening collar the magnetic monster had retooled for himself as a counter measure days earlier. What could the cybernetic superhero do? In seconds his mind calculated several outcomes and it was obvious.

“Roy, is the War Room ready?” asked Vic aiming his arm cannon at the falling heroes.

“Still needs a couple minor things but yeah, why..?” asked Roy Harper from seemingly a com device built into Cyborg.

“Get ready for a potential bomb.” Cyborg stated creating a Boom Tube beneath Accelerate and Shattercrash after the speedster snapped the collar on the bright haired girl.

Back at the Academy, in what was to be the underground training facility, Shattercrash and Accelerate hit the ground with a thud rather than a bang. They both looked up to see an unimpressed Arsenal.

"That's gonna leave a bruise. But hey... We're not dead in a fiery explosion. That's above expectation." Accelerate cursed under his breath, coughing and holding his ribs.

“Yeah, this team needs a lot of work…” Arsenal said looking down at the young heroes.

STAR Labs….

“What in the hell, Cyborg?! That was our only shot at taking this guy down!” screamed Switchblade as things were still sideways and shrapnel flew in all directions.

The lab was a complete wreck at this point. More of the ceiling had caved, several walls were destroyed, and heroes were scattered everywhere while the EMS crews outside tended to the scientists and visitors who were in the building when Polaris erupted. Flamebird was still throwing the occasional fireball, and Oracle was invisible somewhere. After taking a swipe at Polaris, Blitzkrieg was pinned to the floor with heavy pieces of steel from the foundation of the building.

“WE CAN STILL HELP YOU EMERSON! WE KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!” Cyborg screamed as the mad scientist let his guard down momentarily and touched down on the floor.

“I could rip you apart again, limb from limb. Emerson no longer exists. I am…” Polaris began stating before Switchblade came in with a needle he turned into a solid steel spear getting the metahuman madman in the shoulder.

“Gonna feel THAT in the morning!” Switchblade screamed as the debris holding down Blitz became less heavy, and all of the floating debris fell to the ground.

The team began to rally together and for a few moments Polaris panicked. He almost lost control. He feverishly looked back and forth, and questioned his chances now with an injured arm that was bleeding out. He was in shock but he quickly snapped back into his insanity.

“You Titans aren’t worth my time. I’ll see you again, Cyborg…” Polaris said floating out of the destroyed ceiling after throwing Switchblade into Cyborg.

Later, at the Academy…

Several of the students had gone straight to the Med Bay to get checked out by the medical staff. Others questioned where their teammates had gone when Cyborg created a Boom Tube.

“I was going to keep it a surprise until next week, but we needed some place that could withstand a human bomb.” Cyborg began to say with a few young heroes around the lobby area on the top floor of the Academy where all of their personal quarters were located as well as the main elevator. “We brought on somebody to help you guys in combat training, and an underground training Colosseum of sorts has been built about half a mile below the Academy.” Cyborg continued as Arsenal walked out of the elevator casually.

“Where’s Shattercrash and the speedster?” Cyborg asked.

“I told them if they helped me finish the odds and ends they could help me calibrate the settings and holo-droids and try the War Room. I think they’re on their third or fourth battle simulation…” the red and black clad hero responded.

“We’re going to need to call Wally…” Cyborg began.

“I already gave him the heads up. I think the news reported him on the scene helping with the rebuilding of STAR Labs about twenty minutes ago. Mister Terrific is there too with a few dozen of those T Spheres. I thought you were always connected to the internet and breaking news, Vic?” Arsenal, aka Roy Harper asked.

“Probably need to jack into the system in my room and reset a few things. Probably a few extra firewalls still up… maybe I should get me a few of those T Spheres…” Cyborg laughed heading to the elevator.

Despite her annoyance towards this clone guy, Arina had to admit, he had a good choice in clothing - his hoodie was incredibly comfortable. Her bare feet made no sound as she walked beside Origami, leaning forward, past the girl in order to see the commotion by the entrance. Her blank expression immediately turned into that of amusement as a smirk lifted the corners of her lips.

“Did he just…” she trailed off as she watched Chemaxzord basically deliver the assailants to the police, “oh, he did.” She confirmed her own suspicions.

“That’s hilarious,”

She took a step forward, her 90 degree stance straightening as she stepped past her teammate.

Origami twisted her hand round and round as they walked, the paper obeying her bidding and twisting into an orderly stack that she held in one arm. She, too, just watched the Chemaxzord chaos with eyebrows raised.

When so many Billy's were wrapped up and sorted, deposited at the feet of the cops like a cat proudly gifting it's owner a dead bird, Origami snorted inelegantly, one hand over her mouth. "Absolutely stellar. I couldn't have planned it better." Her shoulders rocked with repressed giggles.

"And that's why it's good to have an alien or two around." the Flash said with the rest of the squad coming together in one general area.

Shield, Gravitas, Dragonson, and the rest kind of just stood around for a few moments while the authorities were trying to figure out which one of the Billys, if any of them, was the original. Alex rembered the lighter that one of them mentioned back around the arcade and approached the Flash who was busy working with the police and dealing with some of the press outside of the Midway Mall. Some of the Billys began to dissipate, and the Flash continued moving at super speed to get everything in order. After a few quick laps around the mall the majority of the damage had been cleaned up as well and it was obvious that their mentor was a people person. Alex would find out some time after that the Flash frequently fixes cars in Central and Keystone City while running back and forth. However, at this moment he was still fixated on the lighter...

"Hey.... Flash... one of... illys... lighter... antine..." was all that Wally could make out as he zipped back and around the mall once more.

"It's not here. Maybe some other villain played a prank on Billy. Or maybe Constantine just dropped it somewhere else..." Flash responded to Alex and the rest of the group. "We're pretty much done here. Let's get back to the Academy and talk about what could've been handled better. Lots of room for improvement..." the seasoned hero stated opening a Boom Tube.

Behind the police barricades and the news crews trying to get a shot of the costumed heroes stood a young man with a somewhat familar silhouette. Walking off with no real direction the guy looked down and to his surprise there was an odd looking zippo-style lighter with a rune etched onto the sides.

"Who drops somethin' that looks this badass?! I bet it probably doesn't even..." the person began to say striking the lighter.

Suddenly a faint echo of thousands of screams caught his attention and there was a large blonde man in a green business suit with creepy teeth that sort of just appeared on the edge of the parking lot.

"Hello, young man. I see you've found what belongs to me. What can a demon lord with immeasurable power do for you in return?" Neron asked.

Wally and Vic had everyone at the Academy in the entrance lobby on the ground floor. Some of the part-timers were understandably absent from the group like Chemaxzord, while other young metahuman heroes were strangely nowhere to be seen.

“Hey Cyborg, what’re we doin’ here? And why isn’t wolfman and fishboy here? They get expelled or somethin?”Switchblade asked looking around.

“Everyone here today will get to experience the new underground training facility and meet the newest trainer here at the Academy. Some of you may have caught him hanging around a couple days ago. Accelerate and Shattercrash have already been working with him some to make final adjustments to the AI.” Cyborg explained.

“That still doesn’t explain where Blitz and the other guy are at…” another Academy student mumbled.

“Blitzkrieg’s father was concerned about his son on tv and social media with primary elections coming up in his state. He’s had to take a leave of absence for now. Dragonson is a different story. Our security cameras recorded him walking out into the bay area and never coming back. We’re assuming it’s something to do with his life under the sea…” the Flash explained to the group further.

Some of the students mumbled here and there. Some of them talked about Atlantian conspiracies and Dragonson. Others spoke of the fresh new suits that Accelerate and Shattercrash had been outfitted with. They took the elevator down six people at a time, and the entire group took four trips with everyone in attendance as well as the two mentors.

“Some of you probably noticed the new suits your teammates are sporting. Everyone will get to come up with something before going into the War Room. The clothing digitizer will take images in your mind and the raw materials from everything you’re wearing and create a functional battle suit ready to take hits in combat heavy situations while in the War Room and in the field…” Cyborg continued as the group walked down the hallway to the viewing area. “The War Room is a colosseum sized holographic simulator equipped with holo-droids that can mimic nearly any supervillain or threat. It looks like Arsenal is taking down Billy Numerous in a mall scenario…”

“..and making the rest of us look like jokes.” Alex responded to what was on the screens in front of them.

After a few moments the simulation was over and Arsenal came walking out of one of the exits.

“I guess this is everyone then?” asked Roy.

“They’re all yours.” replied Cyborg with a smile.

“Okay then. Class? My name is Roy. I used to be the partner of Green Arrow. I’ve been a member of the Justice League, and I was a founding member of the Teen Titans along with Wally. In the field my codename is Arsenal. Something everyone in this room needs to work on is codenames and not yelling someone else’s secret identity to nearby civilians. Another thing this group desperately needs to work on is collateral damage. Isn’t that right little miss One Punch Girl?” Arsenal asked looking directly at Shattercrash in her bright new attire, complete with a giant spiked shoulder pad.

“A lot of the damage at STAR Labs and the Midway Mall could’ve been avoided. I’m not always gonna to be around to clean up messes for the Academy. Sooner or later the investors will stop investing money and resources if we don’t get our act together.” The Flash said chiming in.

“Feeding two dozen wannabe heroes and having a round the clock medical staff isn’t cheap. So I’ve got to make Titans out of you before you knock over a building or kill somebody. Who wants to try the clothing digitizer first and step into the War Room?” Arsenal asked motioning over to the high tech looking machines.

"I'll go, just promise not to give me anything too tight..." Chie said stepping forward boldly, raising her hand. She was pretty peeved by the way they were being treated. It was a fluke, it had to be. She could deal with armed Joker goons like they were child's play. It was hard for her to accept this harsh badgering when she was too busy trying to keep her crew together to take out the perp. Ego aside, she decided it would be better to get this punishment of sorts over with.

"Just picture your favorite superhero suits in your mind, maybe something from one of those Red Circle Comics movies. Nothing specific unless you've got a symbol or something in mind..." Arsenal explained as Shuriken stepped into the clothing digitizer.

The young female hero stepped out in what essentially looked like light armor mixed with ninja attire. A hood covered her head and she looked like she was an ally of Batman himself now.

"Who wants to go next and then go into the War Room for an exercise with her?" Arsenal continued.

It turned out, that a speedster was entirely capable of slapping something onto a kinetic warhead's wrist and not risk being scattered the city. It also turned out, however, that Boom Tubes didn't slow Shattercrash down, so she still had a nasty bruise after the incident at the lab. She stood in the War Room along with all the other present Titans, dressed up in a vibrant, violet suit fitted with a spiky shoulder pad just to add aesthetic insult to injury. She was still wearing her usual mask, because it was sentimental. It was also useful for when reporters tried to take pictures of her, but that was secondary. While the others wrapped things up with Polaris, she and Accelerate got to play with the tech that made their suits, and naturally Evie went for something like her old getup.

Another thing this group desperately needs to work on is collateral damage. Isn’t that right little miss One Punch Girl?

"You try surviving a fall like that without some kind of cushion. That kind kinetic energy's the only reason I didn't snap my neck with Polaris shot me through the ceiling. Can't blame me for self-preservation, Crew Cut." That was her new nickname for Arsenal, Crew Cut. And it was going to be his nickname until he had more than 3 inches of hair on his dome. He had a point, though. They could have avoided a lot of the chaos at the lab with a bit more caution or planning. Admittedly, Shattercrash could've tried a ranged attack to avoid getting turned into a ballistic missile, but there's rarely time to think when a threat is that close to you. She was used to going all out against opponents without collateral damage being a consideration, so that was a new thing for her.

When Shuriken stepped up to the digitizer, she came out with a pretty sweet suit herself. A hood that covered her face, and a violet-black suit of armor. As the other person on the team who wore violet, Shattercrash thought it suited her. She didn't know Chie very well, they hadn't interacted at all since Evie showed up. If her suit was anything to go off of, she assumed the girl was some kind of ninja or martial artist. Arsenal then asked if anyone wanted to do an "Exercise" with her. Shattercrash took that to mean a sparring match. She really liked the idea of banging knuckles with another member of this goon brigade who hopefully wouldn't instantly toss her into orbit. "Already got mine, but I'll head in there with her. What's it gonna be? Sparring match? Robot army? Or are we just gonna have a rerun of the Lab where we do some constructive "how do we do better" nonsense?" She asked, observing the armor that Chie was wearing. It looked light, so she had to be pretty mobile.

"Name's Shattercrash. Evie. You're Shuriken, right?"

Episode #3: war room
Chie stepped out of the digitizer feeling eyes from the whole crowd on her. She had her doubts before but the outfit the device gave her wasn't half bad. The armor was a good touch, maybe she'd be able to take a few more hits now. It didn't cover her face, sure, but her split lip was now concealed under a cloth. She noted that the hood was a bit much now that she could see how much it was obscuring her vision, so she flopped it back and let her hair be free for now. If she needed to hide her face the hood would be nice, though for now, she felt it was unnecessary.

"Who wants to go next and then go into the War Room for an exercise with her?"

Arsenal's words struck Chie like a brick to the back of the head. It was only obvious there would be a catch, yet she still found herself blindsided. Before Chie could even protest, someone was already volunteering. Shattercrash, someone she didn't know well, but her moxie was contagious. Still, as eager as she was to train with a new friend, she wasn't about to risk her name if she didn't need to. She had already gotten more media attention then she wanted in the first few weeks at the academy. Best not to leave room for mistakes.

"Yep, Shuriken. Good to see someone else isn't afraid to get their hands dirty" she said with a grin. Motioning to the large bruise on Evie. It paired well with Chie's black eye.
"If we're sparring, just be careful though, I use sharp knives after all" she warned softly, trying and failing to say this in the least rude way possible. For Emphasis she pats one of her many pouches on her newly acquired utility belt. A metallic slick responded in tow.
"But I'm sure you've got plenty of tricks up your sleeve!" She quickly added to try to soften the blow.

Looking over Shattercrash, Chie couldn't really tell what her powers were. The girl was in a suit more akin to what you'd expect from a hero. Spandex and some surprisingly brutal armor. Based on the point of injury and the menacing spikes, she could only imagine this girl hit like a truck.
"Well, what do you say Arsenal? I think we've got a winning team here" She added with a grin.

Arsenal looked at both of the young female heroes. Training these kids in the field was the reason Wally and Vic gave him the call. He turned and looked back at the others and began to explain the controls, and where things were located. Being a member of both the Titans and the League, Roy was familiar with the technology.

“Just through that door over there is a small staircase that leads to the control room. You can generate just about anything as far as a setting goes… New York skyline, shopping mall, mountain terrain… there’s at least three dozen presets. Enemy holo-droids have difficulty settings from one to ten. One being common street thugs and bank robbers, with ten being Doomsday or even a mind controlled Superman. Another one of the settings is for including civilians, or rather droids that look like them. This is to work on things like controlling your environment, search and rescue scenarios, defending bystanders from harm… you get the idea.” Arsenal explained.

“How do we use the War Room if we’re down here by ourselves?” Alex asked the experienced hero.

“Easy… you don’t.” Arsenal explained getting right to the point, “None of you are experienced enough to go in alone without somebody in the control room. For now the drone difficulty settings are limited too, with the harder difficulties requiring one of the mentors. Ninety-nine percent of the time I’ll be down here. My quarters are actually down here, if anybody needs me for anything…”

“Do we have to wait for them to get out before we get to use the costume maker?” asked a mild-mannered twenty-something metahuman in the back.

“Yeah I don’t wanna forget the symbol I thought of using!” replied another seemingly faceless hero in the back that was actually a student in the art of ventriloquism.

Minutes later…

“Okay, girls… this is hero versus villain. Shattercrash, you’re the villain. Bank scenario. Seven civilians. Shatter, you gotta get the money and make your exit by whatever means. Shuri, you’ve gotta keep the civilians safe as well as try to take her down. Don’t kill each other…” Arsenal said from the control room over the intercoms before walking back down the staircase to the rest of the class.

“Now who wants to try the digitizer next?” Arsenal asked with a smile while the girls got some of the class’s attention on the viewing screens.

Post #3.05: Dreaming to be Late

It was sardonic, the thought, as she waded through the sludge, that of all the time spent ensuring she looked her best, it was her who now found herself in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, trying to find an exit to a damn swamp. Her breathing was slightly laboured and her eyes strained to see anything in this blankness. She halted for a moment, doubling over to rest on her knees and steady her lungs before she tugged at the thick ooze once more, figuring that if she were to move forward, she’d eventually find something. The smell was unbearable, and while she knew it was familiar, she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was. Once again she halted as the message tone to her phone went off, and she frowned as she patted her body down, looking for the device, only to find it wasn’t there.

There was nowhere for her phone to be, she was in a shirt and underwear.

She hadn’t questioned how she’d managed to wind up in such a place in the middle of the night, nor had she really given much thought as to where the rest of the Titans were; but an uneasy feeling had settled into the pit of her stomach, and the further forward she pushed, the deeper it grew.

After what felt like an eternity, she finally found the edge of whatever the wet, sticky pool was and her hands reached out to steady herself as she craned her neck upwards to see the way out. She was going to have to climb. She’d have turned to smoke, had it not been for the goo that prevented her from doing so. Hopefully, she thought, hopefully once she got to the top, she’d be able to dry off and disperse and get a better idea of her surroundings.

Not wishing to waste anymore time, she grasped onto the wall of the marsh and hoisted herself upwards, her arms feeling sore, fatigued and weak. The rancid smell was at its worst, and it was taking all she had not to heave; and as she reached the halfway mark, her phone sounded once more, this time a light illuminating her surroundings from somewhere she couldn’t quite tell. But the fleeting glimpse of what she was currently climbing caused her to freeze and her face to deadpan.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” her voice was dull, and while outwardly she was entirely apathetic, the anxiety in her stomach lurched, making her want to be sick. Swallowing the rising bile, she tried to ignore it and push on, but as she did, the phone sounded again, this time, the light was brighter, and as she reached up for the next thing to grasp, she felt it loosen, and her blue eyes looked up in alarm as she felt a domino effect take place.

“Well, fuck.”

The dead bodies, piled as high as a building became unstable, and as they began to tumble down towards her, she frowned, opening her mouth to vocalise her discontent but the avalanche silenced her complaint, and she was engulfed by the mass grave, buried beneath it.

Her phone went off once more and her eyes snapped open before they darted around the dark room, taking in her surroundings. She could still feel the blood that drenched her body, and she sat up, trying to catch her breath and prove to her brain that there was no danger. With a shaky hand, she threw the blankets off and weakly made her way to the shower before she turned the water on so the steam made it near impossible to see, and then she sat beneath the scalding water, scrubbing her skin in an attempt to wash away the blood that wasn’t there. Her actions betrayed her emotions, or lack thereof, as her dull eyes and expressionless features stared down at her hands, her mind replacing them with the faces of the dead in her dreams. The faces of those she’d killed.

This sucked.

It had taken her over an hour in the shower,

and she was exhausted as she exited the bathroom, collapsing on her bed and taking the demon plush toy in her arms, pulling it towards her and pressing her cheek to it, like a child. Her eyes were void of life and her mind blank as she began to drift back into a heavy sleep, only to be interrupted again, by her phone.

A glare replaced the empty gaze, as a hand left the toy and grasped her phone as she breathed a sigh of annoyance, which only grew as she read the contents of the message.

“Go to hell.” she had no issue voicing her annoyance as she scrolled further, reading the next two messages before she typed a reply,

She harboured no ill-will to the man who had messaged her at such an ungodly hour, and she figured he was doing it out of worry for her rather than any other agenda. However, her response didn’t convey any of the warmth she felt for him, nor any respect.

Her final message before she blocked the number was said in jest. It was a well known fact within the Lécuyer that Pachid Michaud had seemingly superhuman tracking abilities. For a mortal, non superhuman guy, his skills were damn near terrifying, and for a moment, Arina considered taking Cyborg up on the cyber security coverage.

With a small sigh, she placed her phone down, and returned her arm to the plush demon as she pulled her knees up to her chest. She wondered for a moment, what time she needed to be up, and before she could even care, she drifted into unconsciousness.

She didn’t remember falling asleep, but by the time her eyes opened, she noticed the unfamiliar, dark room she’d been assigned had begun to fill with light that defiantly spilled past the curtains and into the room. Her eyelids fluttered open as she inhaled, stretching her limbs like a cat. She had no clue what time it was, but what she knew for sure was that she was late, which didn’t seem to bother her. She lazily pushed herself upwards, her body aching from the physical exertion that had taken place in her dream.

She felt stiff.

As she reached the bathroom, she turned the water in the shower on, momentarily inspecting the light red lines that grazed her porcelain skin from where she had scrubbed earlier that morning. Her brow furrowed slightly as she stripped off and stepped under the water - late or not, there was no way she was showing up to training looking like a wreck.

An hour later, she looked as if she’d just come out of hair and makeup for a film studio, she had her training outfit on with her hair carefully curled and plaited into a french braid that cascaded down her left shoulder. The scratches engraved in her skin and the dark rings under her eyes, she couldn’t do much about, but the scratches were light enough that she was sure the less observant of the group wouldn’t notice, and she gave the rest credit enough to mind their own business.

She entered the training area as Chie and Crash (she thought? The girls name evaded her) disappeared into the depths of the arena with some guy she vaguely recognised, a new mentor she assumed. She stood for a moment, her eyes scanning the rest of her team as she rested her weight on one leg. She noted the absences of two in particular, Lincoln and Dragonson. She’d heard the commotion Blitz’s Father had made after their display at STAR Labs the previous week, and she couldn’t help but wonder if she’d been correct in her theory about the water prince.

She didn’t dwell on the thought for long as she made her way towards Alex, her footsteps light and quiet as she swiftly crept up behind him. She reached up on her toes and leaned in so she was inches from his ear before she whispered a,

“Boo”

A Cheshire grin played on her features as she manoeuvred herself from behind him to beside him, “Morning,” she greeted, as if she’d arrived on time, her playful expression faded slightly as the new mentor approached the group once more, calling for volunteers.

She eyed the man intently for a moment, trying to figure out who he was. She definitely recognised him, but he wasn’t as memorable as Flash or Cyborg. Tilting her head to the side, ever so slightly, she leaned towards Alex once more,

“Who’s the new Drill Sergeant?” she asked quietly.

Post #3.05: Where Is My Super Suit?

The mission had ended in failure. Well, not a total failure. They managed to get people out, but the bad guy got away, making them look bad. They didn't work together as a team. Hell, one of their own attempted to obliterate the entire building with all of them inside. Did she blame her? If Kennedy was being honest with herself? Yeah. She understood that Shattercrash needed to do that so she didn't get severely injured, but there was another factor. And how long did it take the girl to decide to save her own life at the risk of everyone else?

Perhaps she was looking too much into it. The fact of the matter was...for their first mission, they all sucked.

Kennedy felt a burning shame that didn't dissipate, even when they made it back to the Tower. She more or less kept to herself. She felt sad at not handling things properly, mad that no one listened to each other, and above all...she kind of wanted to go back home and quit playing the hero.

To top off how crappy she was feeling, Blitz's father pulled him away. Kennedy didn't even get to say goodbye. She understood, of course, even if it was unfair. Following the others to the War Room, she listened as Cyborg and Arsenal outlined what they would be doing. She felt even worse about herself. Her powers were not combat-intuitive. Turning invisible made for good stealth and defense and seeing the future was great for predicting outcomes, but she had never considered how she would use it in a combat scenario. Thankfully, she at least had some time to think on it as Shattercrash and Shuriken opted to head in.

Kennedy eyed the suit-making procedure with awe. It was kind of awesome to see a super suit made in an instant based on the user's desires. She hadn't thought about what kind of suit she would want.

Once the two went to the War Room to prep for their simulation, Arsenal called for someone else to try the digitizer. Kennedy glanced around, seeing if anyone would jump at the chance. She raised her hand. "I'll do it." She made her way towards it, eyeing Arsenal in case he told her to not even bother.

But he hadn't so she stepped up. She closed her eyes and pictured what suit she would want. She wanted something that would be good for stealth, but also had some flair to it. She pictured a skintight black and gray suit with pink trim and a pink mask to cover her identity. The suit was made of a mix of leather and cotton, offering movement when needed, but mild protection. It served as some defense, but she would have to rely on her powers more to make use of it.

Once the image was set in her mind, the digitizer set to work. She stepped out once it was done and looked at her outfit. She had to admit, it made her feel the tiniest bit better. She still felt like this was a waste for her since she was not combat-ready, but she looked the part.

"Well, what do you think?" she asked no one in particular. She stepped over to the viewing screens to get ready to watch Shattercrash and Shuriken duke it out. She expected Shattercrash to run with it, but she was open to being surprised.

Post #3.01: Of Wolf and Man

“After everything we did to cover for you, all the money we paid to bury any record of that day, you turn around and pull this stunt?”

Senator Conall Thrope was practically foaming at the mouth. The vein in the center of his forehead was bulging to the point of pulsating as a tightly clenched hand continued to aggressively point at the footage of the Titans on the unnecessarily large television mounted above the marble mantle.

Lincoln wouldn’t have been surprised if the snifter glass gripped in Conall’s opposite hand suddenly collapsed under the strain of the man’s enraged grip. The amber liquor inside sloshed about side to side, each microcosmic wave threatening to escape over the gold-adorned rim and stain the exquisite rug upon which Conall paced.

In the corner, Lycia Thrope sat in a tall armchair that made her diminutive frame appear even smaller than it actually was. Much like Conall’s white hair against his flushed skin, the ghostly pale woman of the house sat in stark contrast to the rich burgundy hue of the cushioned seat that threatened to engulf her at any second. The embroidered and monogrammed handkerchief in her hand was stained from her continual silent sobbing.

“Look at your mother!” Conall ordered, Lincoln winced slightly, refusing to shift his own steely gaze away from his father.

LOOK AT HER! Whatever ability there once had been to see logic or reason had suddenly gone out the window.

“Can’t you see how upset you’ve made her, parading around publicly with-” His face had changed several shades of red over the past few minutes, it seemed to be a new shade with every increase of volume as the yelling continued to persist. The once slicked-back silver-flecked dark hair was starting to lose its hold as several strands hung over his forehead. The slow state of dishevelment added a certain amount of derange to the elder Thrope male. To top it all off, the white hair on Conall’s temples only further added contrast against the beet-red skin of his face.

“-With!” Shaw could still barely form the words, “T-those people, those Justice League rejects! You were raised to far exceed that low bar. I know what kind of people that academy recruits, crooks and criminals the lot of them!”

“Then you’d feel right at home.” Lincoln retorted, finally breaking his silence. Conall spun on the heel of his Oxfords, raising the back of his hand as if to strike Lincoln.

“Mind your lip boy, you’re still under my roof and living off of my money.” When the younger man didn’t flinch, Conall pulled back, lowering his hand before straightening the lapels of his waistcoat.

“I’d also remind you, that it was your selfishness and stupidity that brought this curse upon our family.” He stated coldly. “Worse still, by running around with that circus, you showed the world that Lincoln Thrope, the one and only son of Conall and Lycia, is a genuine monster!”

Conall again motioned back to the loop on the television screen.

“Do you know what this has done to my campaign? My standing in the polls has dropped exponentially over the past week, forty percent of my voters have changed their support to other candidates. I at least thought you possessed enough brains to don a mask.” He spat venomously.

“Guess I got my intelligence from your side of the family.”

The slap was practically deafening as it echoed across the spacious living room. Lycia stopped her sobbing long enough to allow her jaw to drop in shock. No sooner had the back of Conall’s hand met Lincoln’s face than did the younger Thrope wrap his hand around his father’s throat. Though roughly equal in size, Lincoln lifted his father with ease. As he did, his gritted teeth became fangs, his ears pointed and the claws that formed at the tips of his fingers slowly began to draw blood from the elder Thrope’s neck.

As suddenly as he had lifted his father, Lincoln dropped the other man, stepping back and reverting form. For a moment the two men locked gazes, their steely blue gazes locking before Lincoln let out a guttural grunt.

“I’m getting some air.”

Boom tubes were quick, (probably) safe and efficient. They also made people's stomachs do backflips and when your whole body is basically your digestive tract, you'd be none too keen on using the marvel of alien technology. That's why ME found himself riding the bus and running late to training today. He'd been studying for drivers license for a while now but he'd yet to have any practical experience let alone sit in the cockpit of a street machine. Public transportation wasn't all bad though; being around people let ME further empathize and integrate with the people he protected.

Of course there were side glances, wide eyes and some bus-goers opting to take a later trip but there was also a few that went about their business after seeing the alien working around town or his contribution to the situation at the mall the other day. Said contributions had ME feeling a mix of feelings after realizing the full scope of his contributions. The 'citizens' he thought he was saving were actually the ones causing trouble and this was causing the him some embarrassment after the fact. Everything turned out well in the end but ME knew he needed to get a better grip on subtleties of right and wrong lest he become like Multiple Bilbby himself.

As the bus sped away, ME sped towards the school's entrance as fast as his combined mechanical and biological bodies could take him without launching himself haphazardly at the building. Some scampering, quick-thinking and double-backs later CHEMAXZORD found himself finally at the right room, of which he 'smoothly' entered into as Oracle finished suiting up. ME didn't want to make his tardiness more obvious to his classmates so rather than answer Oracle's question (which was probably directed at ME), the slime saw his chance to try out a new move he'd learned. He moved his mechanical body's arm parallel to the ground and with a umber of deliberate movements formed a fist, raising one digit to the sky. The alien knew he had a fifty-fifty chance or either insulting Oracle or encouraging her. He just hoped that raising the thumb was the right digit.

The garage was pristine as far as human senses were concerned. Its ivory walls were perfectly arranged with numerous tool racks and several shiny, nearly untouched, storage units. There was nary a want in sight as everything a professional pit crew could have possibly needed was stored around his father’s collective Bentleys, Jaguars, and Porsches. It was hard to believe it was a functioning garage at all as not a single tire track was allowed to show on the ebony-panelled floor. The entire place was spotless.

But Lincoln could still smell the stains.

Beneath the layers of potent cleaning solutions and glossy wax, there was still the unmistakable stench of gasoline and oil. Their stains may have been removed from sight, but Link could still detect the residue from the vehicles hiding beneath the seemingly undefiled floors of the Thrope garage.

Though the cars were different makes and models, they all shared a common detail. Each vehicle was wrapped in a matte black finish. Link doubted that even the Batman had so many black cars in his garage. The Wolf inside cried out for Lincoln to give control over to him, to let the claws out and put a deep scratch on each beautiful piece of machinery. But no matter how he felt about his father, Lincoln couldn’t bring himself to take it out on the cars.

Well, maybe the Jags…

Making his way past the row of cars, Lincoln came to a tarped object at the far end of the garage. Here the apparently untarnished illusion of the garage fell away. The tiles around the tarp were cracked from tools and other objects crashing into them. The stains were less hidden, and harder to remove from between the fractures in the obliterated obsidian. Even the tools on the wall showed more signs of scuffing, their layout less aesthetical and more practical. Wrenches and sockets were missing from their spots, no doubt still under the tarp.

A genuine smile filled Link’s face as he lifted the tarp away. A knobby tire held firmly between a fork-mounted sport suspension beneath a set of handlebars greeted the younger Thrope man. A vintage-styled grille was mounted over the singular, rounded headlight that further filled Lincoln with glee.

Reaching toward the wall behind the bike, Link lifted the heavy jacket off its hook, pulling the asymmetrical zipper to the collar of the armoured leather. Trading his shoes for the nearby boots, he kicked his footwear haphazardly away before sliding on the well-worn reinforced high tops.

His father hated this bike.

Lincoln had gotten it the day he turned sixteen and had put countless hours into maintaining, retrofitting, and upgrading the motorcycle. Conall had called it a money pit on numerous occasions, but to Link, it had always been his ticket to freedom.

And if it happened to piss his father off, then that was just a bonus.

Straddling the low-slung saddle, Lincoln dropped a heavy heel on the modded kickstart. It used to take him a lot more effort to turn the motor over; in fact, one time he had almost broken his leg from the kickback, but being cursed had its advantages.

The throaty rumble of the two-cylinder engine sent a shiver of excitement down Link’s spine, his breathing synching up with the vibrations coming from between his legs. Twisting the throttle, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders, revving the bike again and Lincoln felt a rush of adrenaline flood through his body.

As the garage door opened, the younger Thrope gave the motorcycle a final rev before squeezing the clutch in and popping his left foot to put the bike into gear. The rear tire squealed, filling the garage with the smell of burnt rubber. The front of the bike lifted into the bike into the air before launching into the night.

The Wolf’s enhanced reflexes, senses and strength all made navigating the bike through the cool darkness much easier than it had ever been in the days before the curse. It didn’t take long for Lincoln to make his way from his parent’s home in Laude, to the Thaxton in the St. Louis’ western downtown.

Architecture from the turn of the twentieth century lined the streets, towering over the young man and his motorcycle. Parking the bike, Link removed his helmet before pulling his phone out and opening the speakeasy’s socials. The Thaxton Speakeasy was a semi-private nightclub, you could only gain entry if you had the password.

Easy enough to get if you knew where to look.

His thumb hesitated on the home page of his phone, hovering over his messages. Expanding the app, Link tapped Kennedy’s conversation, enlarging the photo of her while debating what to send. He missed seeing her smile, and the smell of her perfume when she walked into the room. The tower had felt more like home in the past few weeks than home had in twenty-one years.

The speakeasy probably would have been a lot more fun with her along. Link suddenly found himself wondering what type of music Kennedy liked. It wasn’t something that had ever come up in the Titans’ common rooms.

▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅
▅▅▅▅▅▅
Neither Lincoln nor Kennedy had ever been direct with how they felt about one another, Link could only hope that she was missing him too. Looking down at the screen again, he began to type, only to rapidly backtrack the message.

Texting wasn’t the medium for that.

Typing out a new message, Lincoln quickly hit send. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest. Shaking his head, he quickly switched windows and opened the speakeasy’s page, finding tonight’s password.

Why did he feel so nervous about a simple text?
__________________________
Looking down at his phone, Link scanned the caption of the latest image on the club’s social media. A small smirk crossed his face before he began to toward the door. The password tonight was ‘Injustice’ and Lincoln had just the quote up his sleeve to get in. Approaching the barren arched doorway, the Link stepped between the grey stone walls and knocked on the chestnut door.

A slot sitting around eye level slid open as Link nodded to the doorman on the other side, initiating the conversation.

“Mankind censure injustice, fearing that they may be the victims of it and not because they shrink from committing it.”

Even through the slit of the door, Lincoln could see the bouncer roll his eyes. An exasperated sigh could be heard just above the distant din of music as the larger man opened the door. Raising an eyebrow, Lincoln gave the other man a quick head tilt before the bouncer elaborated.

“You’re not the first rich kid to roll up here tonight quoting Bacon, frankly I’m bored of it”

“Clearly,” Link replied pulling a few crisp bills from his wallet for his cover charge, “Evidently, they don’t pay you enough hazard pay.” He retorted dryly, adding an extra twenty on top for the bouncer before stepping through the door.

It wasn’t a big club, but the Thaxton was out of the way. Here, in St. Louis, Lincoln was more likely to be recognized because of his father, not because he had a body hair problem. He wasn’t sure why, but there was some small comfort in that.

The Thaxton looked like it was straight out of the Prohibition era, it was the kind of classic styling that Lincoln had grown up around with his mother’s side of the family. Approaching the bar, an intoxicating scent caught his attention. Turning, Lincoln’s eyes were drawn to a head of crimson hair. Kennedy had always smelt nice, but this was different, it was almost overwhelming. For the briefest second, her eyes met his and Lincoln felt the Wolf’s hackles go up on the back of his neck.

“Summer!” A voice called out across the bar, reaching just above the din. She winked at Lincoln, long lashes emphasizing the deliberate movement. Turning her head towards the voice, she broke their gaze before Lincoln lost the redheaded woman in the crowd.

"It's unusual, seeing someone your age and stature on a team fighting for Justice. Don't get me wrong. I think it's a sign of excellent character."

The blasé voice caught Lincoln's attention, belonging to an auburn-haired man who had been watching him closely from the moment he stepped foot into the Thaxton. He had been seemingly invisible until he spoke, just another pretentious blurred face among this insufferable crowd. Odd, considering one of his height normally stood out, towering over most at 6 '2". He wore an immaculate navy blue suit, ever so slightly creased due to his arms which were folded over his chest. From memory, he was part of the Lécuyer Family, although he didn't share the sapphire blue eyes that seemed to be a distinguishing feature.

His expression matched his tone, as he pushed himself off the wall, approaching Link with a hand outstretched, "We've met in passing, but I'm not sure we've been formally introduced," his movements were lazy yet still held an element of formality, "Name's Pachid Michaud, Écuyer to the head of the Lécuyer Family."

If Lincoln didn't recognize him by face, he'd surely recognize him by name. Pachid was at the forefront of every single move the Lécuyer made, often acting as a spokesman or liaison between the family and the outside world. He was said to have the most influence within the Family, second only to the Head he supported. His hazel irises scanned Link for a moment as if he were trying to gain an insight into his personality.

"I wonder if you'd let me buy you a drink," he stated, nonchalant as he stuck his hands in his pockets, motioning towards the bar with his head.

“Oaxaca Old-Fashioned, made with the El Buho, the Madre is overpriced and overrated,” Lincoln replied cooly, the Wolf’s hackles still bristling as he sized up Pachid.

“Little ironic a member of the Lécuyer Family commenting on character isn’t it?” Lincoln added as the bartender placed their drinks in front of them. “I guess not having any makes you an expert on recognizing it in others.”

Pachid’s lips twitched upwards at the insult as he motioned to the bartender for two of what the wolfman had ordered.

“Whatever you’re here to offer, you can keep it to yourself.”

He wasn’t surprised when Link immediately turned him down without even hearing the offer, as the Titan turned to leave Pachid spoke up, his tone still lazy as he leaned forward onto one of the tall bar tables,

“I’m offering you a favour. You’d be able to call upon the Lécuyer family for anything you might need, and I mean anything. Any time, any place and at any expense.” He watched intently, looking for any form of hesitation, “And all you’d need to do is lure your teammate Arina to me somehow.”

“Thanks for the drink.” Link replied dismissively, tipping the glass towards Pachid before taking a sip and stepping away from the bar rail.

Collective laughter caught Lincoln’s attention, his keen ears cutting through the noise of the crowd around him. His eyes tracked the noise to a booth where three men were crowding a woman. Her head was slumped to one side, liquor running down her lips and onto her chin from a shot that had just been tilted into her mouth. The straps of her dress had drifted from her shoulders, hovering about halfway down her upper arms making her clearage more than generously revealed. One of the men leaned over, placing his head between her breasts before proceeding to motorboat the semi-conscious woman.

That was enough for Lincoln.

A growl escaped from between his lips as he forcefully pushed his way across the bar. He could feel his canines beginning to ache, expanding in his gumline, the familiar feel of his skull beginning to shift.

It never got any less painful.

“Hey!” Link roared, “I think she’s had enough, time for her to go home.”

“This your bitch?” One of the men asked, the other two moving to flank Lincoln while he continued to stand over the woman. A smile crossed the man’s face, as he sized Lincoln up.

“Nah, you that Senator’s brat,” He laughed, “You look tough, bet you spend a whole lot of time in the gym, got them balloon muscles.” He took a step towards Link. Lincoln watched his hands, noting the right hovering around his right pocket.

“Y’know why they’re balloon muscles?” The man asked, taking another step towards Lincoln. “‘Cause they empty, you’ll pop the minute someone applies a little press-” The right hand lunged, a knife appearing in it. Lincoln had seen it coming, neatly catching the wrist and disarming him. Giving it an extra twist, not to the point of breaking but enough to strain it, he released the man, tossing his hand back to him.

“I think I’m pretty good under pressure.” Link retorted with a growl.

“Oh you have no idea who you’re messing with rich boy,” The man snarled, clutching his wrist against his chest. “Watch your back.” Motioning with his head for his lackeys to follow, they beat a quick retreat as the bouncers pushed through the crowd to the booth.

Scanning the booth, Lincoln picked up her clutch, pulling out a wallet before flicking it open to the ID inside.

“Get Miss Day home,” Lincoln growled, handing her belongings to the bouncer before reaching into his own pocket and passing the other man a few folded bills to cover the fee.

“And add whatever she owes to my friend’s tab,” Link added, gesturing to Pachid who was still at the bar rail. “He has a real heart for helping people.”

“You do know who you just pissed off right?” The bouncer asked stopping Link as the younger man turned to leave.

“Don’t care particularly,” Link retorted.

“Just sayin’ I wouldn’t go out the back door.”

Raoul Lauffrey was fuming.

His wrist was killing him. This was his town, how the hell did some rich white boy disrespect him in front of his boys like that? His good hand kept a firm hold of the grip of his gun tucked into the back of his pants while he watched the door leading back into the speakeasy. Rich boy had to come out sooner or later and when he did, it’d be him being humiliated.

Over the past five years, Raoul had worked his way up the ranks from petty theft to running most of the downtown. Nothing happened in this city without him knowing, and no one had dared to cross him, let alone interrupt a night out with his boys in well over a year. Even the Metro were in his pocket, police had been paid off for quite some time.

So then who the hell did the Senator’s son think he was stepping in like that? They were just having fun, drinks with a pretty girl. No one was being harmed, at least not until the Thrope boy comes out of the Thaxton.

“I can’t believe you walked out, should have wasted that guy right there.” Grift was always the dumb one Raoul noted, wondering if he even needed to humour the man with a response.

“Waste someone, in the middle of the club in the downtown. Wouldn’t make it out the door without the Metro on us, even Raoul’s money only goes so far.”

“Thank you, Dozer,” Raoul replied, opting to respond to an intelligent comment. “At least one of yous has brains.”

A loud growl filled the back alley causing Raoul to freeze at the unexpected noise. Looking around, he pulled the gun out slowly. Another growl echoed through the night air only this one was followed by what could only be described as laughter. Turning to the source of the sound, Raoul didn’t even have a chance to raise the gun before the alley walls were lined with his blood.

Weaving the bike in and out of his lane on the empty, winding road, Lincoln felt the Wolf beginning to recede back into the crevices of his mind. For now, the beast had been satisfied. Revving the engine, Lincoln pushed the accelerator as he came out of another bend, the lone headlight lighting the narrow path ahead of him.

Flashes of red and blue suddenly filled his mirrors as Link let out a heavy sigh and guided the motorcycle off the smooth pavement and onto the loose gravel lining the shoulder. Waiting for the cruiser to go by, Link felt the Wolf suddenly growl defensively as the large sedan pulled in behind him.

Reluctantly removing his helmet, Link watched from his peripheral as the officer stepped out of the vehicle. His nose was abruptly assaulted by a familiar, but overwhelming aroma. An officer with red hair tied back into a tight bun walked alongside the motorcycle, gun already in hand and drawn.

“Lincoln Thrope?” She stated rhetorically. The Wolf was clambering to get out. Lincoln could practically feel its sense of self-preservation clawing at his insides. The officer raised her weapon, pointing it toward Lincoln’s face.

“St. Louis Metropolitan Police, you’re under arrest.”

He was in a weird mood, but when Apparition came from behind him and whispered ‘boo’ he felt a tingle on the back of his neck. After watching Oracle step into the machine for her new super-suit, Alex tried explaining the situation to the girl with the smoke powers after she asked about the new drill sergeant. Several of the students began chattering, and Arsenal didn’t seem to mind. At least for now…

“Arsenal was a founding member of the Titans. He’s also been on the League. Went by Red Arrow for a bit before going back to using guns…” Alex commented as Apparition moved around him. “I think I know what I wanna do for a new suit… but I paid like nine grand for the one I’m wearing. Metahuman tailors aren’t cheap.”

Arina listened to Alex’s explanation, and her eyebrows raised in slight recognition, she mouthed an “ah” as a distinct memory of her brother entered her mind, she was sure he’d faced off against Red Arrow at least once or twice back in the day. But that was then, she thought - this was supersuit class. Her eyes ran over Shield’s suit as he spoke, and she opened her mouth to respond but was cut off by Switchblade who seemed oddly aggressive today.

“Nobody gives a crap about your fancy suit, Mason. The hood looks dumb, your code-name sucks, and…” Switchblade began talking smack and a small frown graced Arina's features as she stepped towards the obnoxious team member, stopping in front of him on her tippie-toes so she could reach - her face was uncomfortably close to his with a playful expression on her features. Her eyes flickered from his lips and back up to his eyes, and she felt him tense under her touch as she placed her hand on the back of his neck and stretched her neck to whisper in his ear.

“Maybe instead of being so invested in fashion, Switchblade, you should invest a little more time in front of the mirror developing a personality for yourself,” she pulled away to look at him properly, her blank gaze meeting his cold glare, “It’d be beneficial to you, considering mirrors don’t talk. You can be as honest with your reflection as you like because luckily, they can’t laugh either.”

The air grew thick for a moment as the two faced off...

Switchblade ready to retort, however, as if saved by the bell, they were interrupted by Oracle as she stepped out in her new attire.

"Well, what do you think?" Oracle asked nobody in particular, as Switchblade with all of his bravado was momentarily speechless.

Arina smirked as his eyes fixed on Oracle, “The only way you’re going to light up her day, is by leaving the room, love. Stay in your league,” she murmured, leaning into him once more before she turned away from the dazed hero to make her way back to Alex with her signature blank gaze as if nothing had happened,

“Oh yeah?” she asked, picking up the conversation as if he’d never been interrupted, “What did you have in mind?”

She wasn't given an answer as Arsenal looked out to the group once more, looking for volunteers. "Can I go next?" Alex asked loudly while raising a hand.

"Are you one of the ones with a transformative power? I need somebody that has another stage of power like an animal shape shifter, I think I read in one of your files one of you turns into smoke...?" Arsenal responded looking into the large group of young heroes.

"I'll go!" yelled a skinny kid with dark hair and chubby cheeks that was in a jumpsuit of sorts that appeared way too big for him.

"What's your power, kid?" the seasoned hero asked looking down at the shorter individual.

"I'm Fat Man." the kid said growing in size and mass, now standing over seven feet tall and weighing in around a ton or so at least.

"Interesting... power down and step into the digitizer. Can't wait to see what you go with big guy..." Arsenal said with a smile right before Fat Man ripped a fart after powering back down to regular size and stepping into the machine. Roy's face was priceless.

Arina sighed at the mention of her abilities, from her spot beside Alex she watched Fat Man step up to the digitizer. Once he was done, Arsenal turned to the group once more, but before he could call for the next hero, she dispersed, inwardly frowning when her outfit dropped to the floor rather than coming with her. The smoke lazily floated towards the digitizer where it formed once more, reforming Arina’s unclothed body, which she made no effort to cover. She placed a hand on her hip and glanced at Arsenal, “You honestly think this thing can solve the problem of my clothes not apparating with me?” she queried, “If it does, you’ll save me a hell of a lot in clothing expenses.”

"This isn't for civilian clothes, and it works a lot better when you go in with clothes on. The machine breaks them down for raw materials, even cell phones, and you've seen its capabilities so far." Arsenal stated before walking over to the controls. "Now visualize something, maybe a hero like Black Canary or Vixen... maybe a symbol or a cool belt buckle."

"Smoke on, or smoke up... whatever you want to call it." Arsenal said as she stepped out of the machine in something of a suit combo of the two heroes Roy mentioned before.

Arina glanced incredulously towards Arsenal before she dispersed and reformed at Alex’s side, fully suited up. She frowned and tugged at the material that hugged her body, “This feels…” she trailed off, still pulling at the wet-suit feeling suit, “Restricting.” she turned her gaze upon the mentor once more, “I hate it.”

It was only Conrad’s third day as a student at Titans Academy and he was having a hard time adjusting. Many factors were at play in this difficulty for the World War II veteran. Not only was this his first time attending post-secondary education, having put away his dreams of becoming a doctor to go fight for his country instead, this was his first time attending any modern schooling.

It seemed that schooling was no longer done with pens and books, but rather these computer things everyone had, included some that were dubbed phones, though Conrad almost never saw anyone actually make a call with one. As part of a crash course in modern advancements being provided by Cyborg, Conrad had been given a phone. So far he had figured out how to call and sent texts, but the whole idea of the Internet and the app store were still too daunting to the young man.

But one good thing about living in the future was that beds were a lot softer. Conrad felt like he could spend all day in the bed provided by the Academy, but he had been shown specifically how to set a wake up alarm on his phone.

This third morning of attending the Titans Academy, Conrad was still in bed, having a pleasant dream, a rare occurrence for the stressed out veteran. This nice dream was abruptly stopped by music blaring from the phone sitting on the nightstand next to Conrad.

He was instantly awakened to the loud booming pop music. Reaching out with his hand, Conrad swiped the alarm off. He wanted to stay in bed after that, but through discipline gained through the military, Conrad forced himself out of bed.

Standing on the floor, which was cold on his bare feet, Conrad yawned loudly. Thoughts of wondering what today would bring were quickly replaced by a memory of Cyborg telling him that all students were to meet in the entrance lobby right in the morning.

Not wishing to be late, Conrad jumped into the shower. Having consistent warm water was like heaven for the young man who had just recently spent months in the wilderness, even if it was recent for him and not for the rest of the time line.

Once cleaned, Conrad dried off and opened his closet. Most of his current clothing was provided by a mix of Checkmate and Titans Academy, as he had arrived in this year with just his costume. It was said costume that Conrad changed into. It would be his first time using it since arriving in the modern era.

Conrad put on the green, yellow, and black costume, noting that it wasn’t in the best of condition. It seemed to Conrad that current superhero costumes were a lot more durable than those wore during the War.

Conrad then exited his room and headed for the lobby. There were already several students there, all people he didn’t know. Thinking it would be improper to force his ways into their lives, Conrad instead remained a few steps behind them, remaining silent as Cyborg and Flash arrived.

The mentors started by explaining why some students were missing, but as Conrad had never met them, it didn’t really faze him. Cyborg then said they were to use a machine to make new costumes. Conrad didn’t really want to change his costume, but perhaps he could just make an identical one out of better material.

Cyborg also revealed the existence of the War Room. Most of what he said about it went over Conrad’s head as he figured it was advanced even for a modern person. But he understood at least that it was sort of a mock combat obstacle course that could be any location.

Another mentor then exited the War Room. Explaining who he was the man known as Arsenal began to critique Conrad’s classmates actions on a previous mission. Conrad knew how easy it was to screw up a mission, as that was how he ended up traveling through time.

Two of the Academy students then decided to use the costume creator before challenging each other to a battle in the War Room. As Shuriken and Shattercrash began their battle on the television, Conrad saw a young woman trying the costume maker.

Several more students asked to try the costume maker and War Room. It was only when a student, Conrad believed his name was Alex, said he would like to give it a try, did Conrad decide to step forward.

“I’ll fight him,” Conrad added in as he raised a hand.

While he knew practically nothing about his fellow classmates, Conrad did get strong team leader vibes from Alex. While he wasn’t sure what powers the young man possessed, Conrad was always trying to better himself. So why not go after who he expected to be at the front of the class?

The only bad thing was that this was a mock battle. All of Conrad’s other battles during the war had been to the death as the Nazis were trying to do the same to him. So he would have to pull some punches and not do something accidentally like cracking his skull with the Gargoyle’s tail barb.

But even with that worry, Conrad was excited to prove himself. He had recently learned that his whole presence during World War II was almost entirely forgotten, so he wished for his time at Titans Academy to actually mean something and leave an impression in history.

Ya know, Vic and Wally probably thought they were pulling a fast one by calling everyone to the lobby this early. With some of their pupils still various shades of purple and blue from recent run-ins with less-than-savory sorts on the job, a good chunk more with their costumes in varied states of disheveled and disarrayed, having clearly put them on in a rush and pretty much all of them looking like they'd much rather be sleeping in right about now. Honestly, it was a pretty solid plan straight out of a drill instructor's playbook; catch 'em bright and early when they least wanna be doing something so it'd stick harder.

Good plan.

Solid plan.

Joke was on them though— Mal brought coffee. Happily slurping away at his thermos as he followed the assorted assemblage of tights, capes and primary colours through the halls and down into the depths of the tower.

Truth be told, this would be his first time being around pretty much any of them— not that the teen'd gone out of his way to avoid them, mind you, just that his time at the Academy had mostly been spent sequestered away from the rest of the students on what they referred to as an 'Altered Curriculum'. Mostly tests to see how strong, fast or tough he was with his magic glowing bits active, followed by meditation sessions to try and wrangle better control of his magic glowing bits, broken up by once-a-week boom trips out to wide open places with not a lot of people like the Atacama or the Mojave for a little bit of 'Light Sparring' with Wally to put all he'd learned about his magic glowing bits into practice.

...'Light Sparring', of course, roughly translating to 'Getting His Face Pushed In'. Because as fast as he was with his glow on, it still felt like he was chasing after Usain Bolt clad in rocket skates while wading through a sea of cold molasses. And no amount of weights, cardio or chanted mantras earlier that day would ever negate the fact that the fist of a guy moving at approximately Mach Turkey was always going to suck when it made impact with your face.

All of this was probably to make sure they had a good read on the kid before unleashing him on the rest of student populace. Which, y'know, fair— He did get a little spooky the last time he was in a serious fight, after all... though it didn't change the fact that most of the capes in the building probably thought he was just an intern or something, with how often he was tinkering in the garage or about the place as an extra set of hands for the support staff when he wasn't lifting, running or getting repeatedly punched in the face.

Which was... something he was perfectly fine with, honestly. After how the news and the internet covered that little 'incident' of his in Halifax, he was pretty sure he didn't want that kind of attention anyhow.

But back to the matter at hand, as they all entered into the observation deck with the big... super-science... thingamajig up front. Malcolm stuck more to the rear, leaning beside one of the observation ports and sipping at his coffee more quietly now to be polite as the big red guy up front— Arsenal— explained where they were, why they were there and what the thingamajig was for.

The young man's head actually cocked to the side a bit at what he heard, brow raising sightly. Just a bit incredulously, in fact.

'Huh... so it's a matter transducer for clothes.'

Seemed to him a bit of a waste to use something like that for new duds, but, well, all he had to do was really cast an eye down at his own damned self to stop from saying anything about it. Garbed in one of the (many) flightsuits his uncle had 'forgotten to return' after leaving the RCAF, with all the patches removed and tailored for a man much taller and much lankier than he; making the thing look all at once too big, too small and really kind of ridiculous on him. Truth be told, Mal had actually looked into maybe getting a generic onesie or something that could survive his semi-weekly ass-whoopings at the hands of the Flash— but, just like he overheard someone in the crowd in front of him mention, Super-Suits be expensive, yo. So he was more than happy to save his wallet and get one basically for free.

Like seriously, he could buy a half-decent used car for that kinda cash. One that still had a working reverse gear and everything.

Taking a another sip, Mal's brow furrowed a bit at everything else good ol' Mr. Harper was saying, and the implications thereof with him being present; namely, he guessed, that this'd be the day that he'd start training with the other students... most of whom— as mentioned earlier— he hadn't even spoken two words to before, though there was a few he knew at least by reputation.

Like the first two up; the one with the pink hair could only be Shattercrash— someone he didn't know, but she seemed alright— and Shuriken; someone he'd actually had met, though very, very briefly after waking up at the Academy for the first time... or more accurately, the first time he was both cognizant of it and not actively dying. Peppy, cheerful, kinda reminded him of his little sister if he was being honest. Albeit, with a lot more pointy things.

Next up— Mal actually caught a break and overheard the name this time— was Oracle. Hadn't spoken a word to her, either, but he still fired a snappy finger-gun of approval over a mouthful of coffee her way when she asked the crowd how she looked. Seemed the right thing to do.

After that... Fat Man? He could probably guess which one was Fat Man.

Chemax was kicking around in the midst as well; really hard to miss the mass of metal and green gel as he came bursting through the door, having visibly run full-tilt the whole way there. That was one Mal'd met before, on the bus to the local supermarket, though he doubted the jolly green alien would remember as it was so innocuous. ME was a bit loud, and maybe just a little odd, but Mal actually liked the alien; his heart was in the right place— Err... or whatever analogue for one ME had, the lad didn't really know.

The guy in white to his front and a bit to the left? Probably The Shield. Another decent sort from what he'd heard; determined, focused, pretty much the gung-ho hero straight outta the cereal box but... maaaaaaybe just a little bit anime protag dense, going off his interactions with the girl beside him.

As for the girl herself? Apparition, and he knew he was getting that one right. Mal wouldn't say he'd met her, so much as he'd been in the same room as her once or twice; polite enough, he guessed, but there was something always just a bit... off about the girl, though he could never put his fin-NAKED. SHE WAS CURRENTLY NAKED.

Very suddenly, the boy's eyes snapped directly to the ceiling even as he damn-near choked on his coffee.

'Hello, Mr. Ceiling! How ya doin'? Mind if I just stare at'cha for a bit? Thank you, sir!'

There, they remained for a solid few minutes before they slowly lowered down the more comfortable he became that the coast was indeed clear. And even then, that did nothing to stem the slight tinge of rose on the lad's cheeks as he cleared his throat, took another long swig of his java and pointedly made sure he was looking at no one in particular as the words almost involuntarily slipped out of his mouth.

"Well, that's gonna be in there for a while."

A deep exhale followed that statement, followed by a shake of the head and one final gulp of caffeine before turning to look outside it to watch the fight and try and distract himself from what he'd just seen. Not that it was anything unpleasant mind you— far from it— But, well, call him 'Old Fashioned' if ya must, but our boy Malcolm was raised not to perv on girls mid-wardrobe-malfunction. Superpowers and funky stuff be damned.

Helluva way to start the day though, he'd have to admit.

Sure as heck woke him up way more than the coffee had.

Sleep, something that seemed to eluding the flaming goddess. Sarina had found herself still sore a little from the previous day’s events that had her annoyingly spending some time in the infirmary, of course the nurses were simply doing their jobs but she hated being poked and prodded over a few cuts and bruises, of course they had to check that nothing else was broken or damaged from her fight with Polaris, she was being a little bit of pain to them because she mainly felt they shouldn’t really be fussing over her.

That also had her brooding a lot to, every time she replayed it in her mind, the bottom line was they got their asses kicked and Sarina would be lying to herself if she thought that such a thing playing on her mind was one another reason she struggled to sleep. Adding to the fact that Arsenal had decided to have everyone meet up at this ‘war room’, luckily for her she was able to do some of her usual in the morning, A nice shower to clean up, normally something she would do after a workout of jog, something she skipped and then spent most of the time she had brooding over a Mocha hoping it would help cheer her up a little.

Soon enough Sarina had made her way down to the war room and behold the rest of the group, some she fought alongside some she knew from either seeing them from time to time around the academy or bumping into them and some appeared to be missing, it seemed their Polaris fight got some unwanted attention and it cost a couple of their team. The ex-villianess was still getting used to the idea of being in a group, before the whole incident working with Cyborg and Arsenal, Sarina had never played well with others, so this was still a learning curve for her and so these war room sessions may actually be helpful in the long run.

The redhead would watch on as members of the group were taking turns getting their suits while Arsenal was explaining the Digitizer gizmo and how the war room works. Her time was spent observing people getting their new suits and watching the first session between Shattercrash and Shuriken, in fact Sarina was very curious how it will play out with a literal ninja taking on a WMD in a bank setting.

Sarina could only watch a little scene play out in front of her, Switchblade was once again making an ass of himself, the guy rubbed her the wrong way and seemed more than happy to give crap to other members of the team for no apparent reason other than to make himself feel good maybe? He certainly seemed to have a beef with Shield, in her mind it was only a matter of time till someone put the dude in his place… And she didn’t have to wait long, she watched the tense encounter between him and Apparition and she could not help but Smirk and nod slightly with approval and the later gave him a literal verbal burn.

The altercation was interrupted however when Oracle had made her way back out in her new suit. Fortunately for the red head she was close enough to the pair to hear what Apparition had to say at the distracted guy and could only let out an audible snort in her attempt to not laugh at him. "He wouldn't know how to handle us anyway." She quietly remarked the pair, Sarina was liking this girl even more. Composing herself Sarina looked over at Oracle and nodded at her. “Looking good” Her Irish accent coming through.

Mini Collab with: @YourNameHere - Apparition.

When it was time for someone else to go into the digitizer however, the girl was able to not only beat Arsenal for asking who was next but also beat herself to be next in line to go, Sarina didn’t mind like, the girl was obviously on a roll right now after all so why stop? She watched as the girl pretty much demonstrated her power on the way to the machine, an eyebrow raised at the sight before as the girl materialized butt naked in front of the group and didn’t bother to cover herself. In that moment she could swear it was so silent that one would hear a pin drop. Even she was distracted from the screens as she noticed the poor girls’ clothing was bunched up on the floor where she once stood.

Sarina would have noticed that once again Switchblade was gawking at the sight before him, light a deer in headlights. Placing her arm around him which seemed to make him instantly tense up. “Your drooling.” She would say into his ear, which was followed by an audible slap as the poor guy literally and probably not intentionally slapped his own face when checking if he really was drooling. After that bit of amusement Sarina would take the moment while the machine was doing its work to pick up the girls’ clothing and at least fold it up as it was not some pile of mess on the floor. After a moment the girl dispersed her way out and reformed wearing her new suit next to the Shield guy.

Moving up to the side of Apparition and hearing she didn’t like her outfit. “At least it stays with you when you disperse, at least one thing to like.” Soon afterwards she would hold up the girls’ clothing she had picked up. “Believe these are yours, I took the liberty of picking them up.”

“I’d almost rather lose my clothes,” Arina muttered in response, still tugging at the material, “Contrary to the clothes I wear, I’m not a fan of feeling restrained,” Arina turned towards Sarina as she continued speaking, her frown disappearing almost immediately.

Arina’s usual blank expression met the red headed girl as she held out the outfit Arina had just lost and her head tilted her head ever so slightly as her ice blue gaze flickered to the clothes and back to the fire user - almost as if she were cautious.

‘Huh’

The subconscious sound escaped her lips and as she came back to reality, a small closed eyed smile engulfed her features as she reached out and gently took the outfit that Flamebird had so kindly picked up and folded for her. “Nobody has ever gone to the trouble of folding or even collecting my clothes for me,” she mused, tucking them towards her body in her arms. “You’re sweet, thank you,” her voice was sickeningly honeyed and almost anyone who overheard the conversation would have assumed she was perhaps mocking the girl, however, for a change, Arina was genuine.

Once it was time again, Sarina stepped forward to take her turn in entering the machine, she took of her red shirt however leaving her in a tank top and black jeans and slipping her phone out and put them to one side before entered it, Arsenal did the usual, telling her to envision what she wanted for a suit, ultimately it be similar to what the lab was working on but with finer details and slight improvements. With that in mind she stood inside it and Arsenal went to the controls. “ready? Remember to imagine…” Sarina interrupted him. “I know, Hit it.” She calmly replied with a nod towards him, she was actually looking forward to this. She closed her eyes and let the moments pass as the machine went to work. After a few moments it was finished and Sarina stepped out in her new suit.

Looking over herself, before feeling her face, yep this time she had a mask to cover her identity, a must have for anyone that had a past like hers, what would people say if they clicked on the titans had an ex villain on the team? Either way, she was digging her new suit. “Hmm, I can work with this.” Sarina said with a smile on features, this was to be a new chapter in her life and the suit help represent her alias and what she felt and sometimes feared what she could be truly capable off. Thankfully wear she hadn’t used her powers the suit was all back and so wouldn’t burn her shirt off, so putting it back on she placed her phone in it pocket. It did seem her Domino mask had a tint of flair added to it. Maybe she should ask the class, not that she cared to much if people like her suit or not, she needed to learn on interacting with them. “So, what you guys think?" She aimed at no one in particular.

A cheshire grin appeared on Arina’s features as Flamebird stepped out of the digitizer and asked the group's opinion, “Looking hot,” she mused, once again raising questions to which side her sexuality lay. Her comment gained her a few odd or disapproving looks, namely from Arsenal he raised an eyebrow at her,

”She comes out looking like an actual professional, and the best you can summon is ‘Hot’?” he asked, his tone clearly not amused, and she turned her head towards the mentor, her grin falling into her innocent blank gaze,

”What?” she whined back in her defense, ignoring his blatant dig at her own outfit, ”Hot is the perfect word for it… I mean…” she paused for a moment as a wry smile played on her lips, ”I’d… do her… if you know what I mean,”

”Shut it, apparition,” and she shrugged, shooting quick smile and a wink at Sarina.

Episode #3: War Room

Once more the scenario was against her, with a name like Shattercrash her adversary was likely known for collateral damage. With no idea what her power was, she was feeling vastly outmatched. Surprisingly though, the thrill of competition was all Chie needed to get pumped. She had a chance to redeem herself, and with new armor and gear, she couldn't help but feel ready. Entering the room, Chie was surprised by how lifelike the bank looked. The sunlight through the windows was lifelike, and the drones disguised as civilians and bankers had mannerisms that were uncanny in their accuracy. Chie made her way to the front entrance before she turned around to face Shattercrash. Her hands instinctively slithered down to the utility pouches at her hip, ready to snatch a shuriken up if need be. She'd aim for somewhere non-vital, her accuracy was dependable enough not to kill, but she still felt a twinge of guilt for the potential harm that might come Evie's way.
"I'm ready when you are, Evie"Chie proclaimed Rigidly.

Chie's whole dispostition changed quiet rapidly. Once she was in her ready stance, her eyes had gone steely as she waited for the slightest falter in her foe like a tiger watching it's prey, waiting to ponce. Her smile was gone, replaced with a serious look of conviction and pitilessness. Her whole body seemed to be as still as a statue, like she was frozen in time only 20 feet or so from her foe. Being trained by a hired assassin, she had learned to never show her feelings in combat. Inside, however, she felt strange fighting a fellow hero. They where on the same side, so she had to be careful with her shurikens. Why they let her take them in at all was beyond her. Worse yet, the situation went the other way, as shattercrash brandished a rather brutal trio of spikes on her shoulder, a devistating weapon in the right hands. She would rather not get gored on her first month at the school. Truthfully, she was only waiting on her enemy out of hesitation. She didn't want to be the first one to blunder.

When the other girl enterred the simulation, she instantly slowed down, and Shattercrash had a feeling this was going to take off in seconds. A violet haze started drifting from her hands as they went in front of her, one level with her chest and the other slightly above, and further out. It was a relatively simple stance for someone whose entire skillset consisted of punching things really hard. Shuriken might've seen Evie's fists begin to twitch faintly just before the fight began. Her spiked shoulder was turned partially towards Chie, and her legs bent somewhat. A complete parallel to Chie's total stillness. Evie wasn't quite sure what the other girl had in mind. In Evie's experience, the best way to prevent someone from doing something you didn't want them to do was to give them absolutely zero room to do so. Keep them on the backpedal, make them focus on your advance, and don't stop for a second until they stop moving. That was exactly the plan Shattercrash had in mind. How she intended to open with it, however... That was the twist she needed against someone who looked like a ninja.

Shattercrash stared Chie down like a hawk, and then, out of nowhere was a sound similar to a gunshot. A streak of violet light ripped across their battlefield like a thin comet. There was enough distance between the two of them that Chie could get out of the way. If she didn't, then it would be like getting punched in the face by a professional boxer. Let the games begin.

Chie was on edge when she saw the fire in Evie's eyes. This girl had moxie, that much Chie could tell. Their showdown seemed to alter the programming as various drones began to stare, and the sun seemed to beam down on both of them, revealing long shadows that loomed over this battle-to-be.

Chie's eyesight proved impeccable, as always. She saw the movement, a twinge of her foe's finger was enough to make her leap into action. The flare of light that exploded from Evie's finger was traveling at her at tremendous speed, but miraculously, Chie's reflexes saved her at the last second and she flung her upper body back, catching herself with her hands as the wind from the incoming blast rushed around her. Upside and looking backwards, Chie watched with a grimace as the blast impacted a window behind her and easily shattered it when they collided. Quick on the retaliation, Chie flung herself back up to her full height, tossing two shuriken at her enemy, one from each hand. One was sent flying towards Evie's left shoulder, the other at her right shin. A simple trick to test her foe's own reflexes.

Evie was not a ninja, so the first thing she thought of was to simply throw her whole body to the right, she managed to skirt past one of the shuttles, but the other sliced her leg open. This hurt like hell, and resulted in Evie falling to the ground. She hadn't expected it would hurt that badly, but her gut was telling her to get up and push. So, through grit teeth, Evie pulled herself to her feet and charged at Shuriken like a bull, pushing herself forward with a pink spark of light, ducking her head behind her spiked shoulder pad. The intention was to simply run Chie over like roadkill, and as she picked up speed, Evie started to glow with that same energy. If Chie got hit, that was going to hurt.

Chie pumped her fist in glee as she saw one of her weapon's hit it's mark. It seemed her foe had a lot to learn. Feeling confident, the young heroine pushed her luck, rushing forwards quickly, pulling out her staff as she did. To her surprise, Evie was quiet resilient, and so Chie found herself charging straight into a set of spikes protruding from the other girl's shoulder. While she didn't have the time to throw up a guard or dodge out of the way, she managed to narrowly swing her head underneath her enemy's shoulder, though the wallop she received sent her flying across the bank. The hit hurt, and Chie struggled to recover as she skid across the ground back to where she started. Nevertheless, she was up on her feet in seconds.
"Nice hit" She wheezed she she struggled back to her feet, holding her hip with a wince. That was going to leave a nasty bruise.
"Guess I'll just have to keep my distance" She added, revealing a handfull of shurikens.
Quickly, a barrage of the bladed throwing starts started flying at her foe, at least a dozen, each targeted at a different target.

Keeping her distance was, indeed the best way to handle fighting Shattercrash. Her one ranged attack was something that Chie evidently knew how to avoid, while she had an unknown number of ranged attacks that Evie could reliably avoid. Evie once again flung herself to one side, only this time she used her power to toss herself much further. It didn't matter because several of the blades still cut her across her arms. Once even bother in the face, and that pissed her off. Chie seemed like she was hurting, so once Shattercrash was squared up, she decided that what wasn't broken need not be fixed, and charged her again as fast as possible, glowing like a Christmas tree. Having already done this, maybe she was a bit more predictable, it it was meant to keep Chie under constant pressure. Surely that would be useful.

Chie was ready this time. After the blow from the last attack he wasn't about to take another. Body armor or not, Evie hit like a truck. This time she could dodge, and so Chie lept high into the air, well over the head of her adversary, spinning with her head and feet tucked in so that she formed a small that flipped through the air. She landed behind Evie as the woman presumably went flying by.
"Strike one!" She teased, sending another Shuriken after her foe, this one aiming for the stomach. If scratches and cuts wouldn't slow this foe down, she'd have to get a bit more ruthless. Still, she made sure not to strike anywhere lethal. This was freindly after all.

If Evie was a bull, then Chie was an acrabatic matador. She took several more steps further before coming to a complete halt, and then whirled around to see Chie land on her feet. It was at this point that Shattercrash realized that this was a truck versus a race car situation where one could theoretically run the other down whereas the other could run circles around the other. That wouldn't have bothered her so much if it weren't for the fact that she now has a very pointy object in her stomach.

Shattercrash was hit by the throwing star straight by in the dead center of her stomach, and could feel blood start to run out. T some point or another, she might get too weak to fight due to blood loss, so this had to get wrapped up quick. Think. How could she win this? Maybe... Shattercrash had an idea. She leaned onto one leg, and slammed all of her weight into the floor with her other leg. In a flash of violet light, the girl was now several feet over Shuriken's head, and falling down like a lead ball. As she started to come down, she started glowing. It would have worked on Polaris if there wasn't the threat of friendly fire, but now it was just the two of them.

Chie couldn't help but smirk smuggly at her successful shot, her eyesight never seeming to fail her. She even gave herself a moment to bask in her assumed victory. There was a bright light and suddenly Shattercrash was gone, like a ninja dissapearing behind smoke. Chie scanned the room, but apart from civilians huddled in the corner or fleeing, Chie couldn't find her foe. Until she looked up, seeing what was essentially a human hellfire missle. Chie barely had time to throw her hands up in defense, and that hardly helped. Evie came crashing down harder than a meteorite, wind from the attack bellowing through the mostly vacant bank. Chie crumbled under the pressure, falling first to a kneel but quickly collapsing to the ground, groaning in pain from the attack.
"nice...hit..." She wheezed out, already struggling back up to her knees.

Trying to stand proved harder than she anticipated. That one hit left her legs feeling like jello, and her whole body ached. The split in her lip had just reopened, dripping a dark red string of blood down to the floor. It was minimal, but the bruising from this battle would be awful she could tell. Already her arms where beginning to radiate heat from the pain, and she could tell that if she didn't finish this quickly she'd be watching them swell up from the pain.
"But I'm not going down that easy" She growled, looking up with a newfound zeal flickering in the flames in her eyes. Even when her body wanted to give out, Chie was far from ready to throw in the towel. She'd rather die than be shown up. She still hadn't gotten to her feet, still struggling to get up from a kneel, but even now she was dangeroud, readying her extendable staff to swing or poke any incomming charge Evie might attempt.

Evie was definitely going to be feeling this afterwards, but compared to Shuriken, she was just a little scuffed up. Seeing that Chie was struggling to stand up straight made her understand that this fight was over with. Evie got up to her feet and walked over towards her, as one hand began to crackle with energy.

"The pointy things were pretty smart. I don't get anything when I get hit by those. But something you're gonna figure out, Chie, is that hitting me with something that doesn't poison me or knock me out isn't gonna help you."

There was about a foot between them as Evie raised her glowing hand into a fist, and swung a punch similar to a haymaker, only pointed forward rather than sideways. When her fist stopped moving, a mass of violet energy no smaller than a basketball was sent forward like a bullet. It was the same sort of attack that she performed at the start of their match with her finger, scaled up to end the match properly. Evie wasn't one to leave a job half finished.

Chie was far too weakened to respond, and as the wave of energy engulfed her, Chie was once again sent flying, slamming into the wall and leaving cracks behind her. She fell to the ground, limp, and soon the simulation would dim down with a clear victor.

Sister Shadow, another student who seemed to fade into the background of the larger group, approached Arsenal and the digitizer next. She essentially made herself shadows from the waist down and moved on a black ink or smoke like darkness beneath her. After she stepped out another female with a Czech accent, Gravitas, came forward. It seemed as if Shattercrash and Shuriken were finishing up and Alex stepped up to Arsenal as most of the others had already got suits made. Even the blonde kid that floats everywhere who picked the alias Warlock…

“Can I go next?” Alex asked again as another face at the academy that also sported a worn superhero suit came forward.

“I’ll fight him.” said the time lost hero Legion, stepping up to the front.

Arsenal grinned and liked seeing enthusiasm among the group. These two and the speedster came in with decently made super-suits that just needed upgrades. Roy could remember the guy in green, yellow, and black… he was some sort of time displaced hero from the 40’s. With the Justice Society trying and failing to rise up again in the superhero community, Titans Academy was his next best bet. The kid in the white hood though, Arsenal remembered the power set but the name just wasn’t coming to him.

“What was your alias again, bro?” he asked Alex.

“The Shield.” Alex replied proudly.

“Yeah… pretty sure the Red Circle Comics group would sue you into oblivion for that one. Gonna have to workshop something later.” Roy stated bursting the kids bubble. “You were the guy from the 40’s right?” he then asked turning to Legion before being interrupted by Switchblade.

Switchblade had eyes all over the place. Between Oracle, Flamebird, Gravitas, and Sister Shadow he didn’t know which one he wanted to try and impress. Most of the other students were talking amongst themselves about their new suits and what they wanted to try in the War Room, so Randall took his shot. He wanted to be the one to best Alex, as they grew up together in Midway and went to some of the same schools. He’d be damned if this guy who smelled like old people and polyester was going to get one over on him.

“I wanted to go against Alex in the War Room. Everybody thinks he’s team leader material… but I’M the guy who almost took down Polaris!” Switchblade got loud, making his case.

“You got lucky and speared him through the shoulder, I’ll give you that. Let’s make it interesting… we’ll put the three of you in the War Room...” Arsenal began to say before turning to the rest of the group, “...unless anybody else wants in on this one?! Who’s tired of standing around?”

"You didn't even get lucky, Randall. You're reckless and you're gonna get somebody hurt." Alex talked smack in the most polite of ways.

"The scenery's gonna be fake, but the beating I'm gonna give ya is gonna be real." Switchblade responded with a smirk looking over his shoulder to see if any of the girls were paying attention.

"This isn't Mortal Kombat, none of the objectives include hospitalizing your teammates. You want to see how tough you are work up the villain roster in the holo-droid settings. If you can beat level 8 metahumans and super criminals then I'll give you access to levels 9 and 10." Arsenal explained to try and deescalate the situation brewing.

"This isn't the 6th grade, he wants to scrap we can scrap. Back then my mom would've whipped me and grounded me for three weeks for getting into a fight at school. Guy's always been kind of a creep towards girls, and he's just generally a douchebag..." Alex thought before stepping into the digitizer and getting a new suit without a hood, or sleeves for that matter.

"That's an upgrade, I like that you went..." Arsenal began to comment before Switchblade shoulder checked Alex on his way into the digitizer.

"Douchebag isn't the right word..." Alex thought.

After a few moments Switchblade stepped out basically looking like a character from Mortal Kombat. Complete with the ninja-like mask.

"The digitizer is ready when you are, soldier." Arsenal said looking over to Legion before turning to the rest of the Academy students. "If anybody else wants in on the simulation, speak now or forever wait in line!"
