@LegendBegins .webp support, if it's possible. It's annoying to have to go out of your way to convert a .webp file/image because nowhere except like two places on the internet actually uses the file format even though so, so many pictures are saving as .webp these days. Hell, not even imgur allows .webp to be uploaded to their site.

Webp is among the many reasons I'd like to annihilate Google.

Had another thought of a feature I'd love to see as a GM/thread owner, it would be nice to be able to see who is subscribed to your thread. To go a step further, in addition to banning a problematic player, it'd be helpful to be able to remove them as a thread follower. It's nice that a ban stops them from being able to respond to the thread, but they'd still be effectively subscribed and following along. If there was a reason to ban them, there's likely a reason enough to not want them following either.

@Lord Wraith

Could you elaborate on the use case of removing a subscription? Since they can always browse anonymously, the most impact I envision force-removals to have is increasing the barrier of entry to reading a thread they aren't welcome in.

In that respect, I have to agree since the Guild can be browsed fully while logged out. The thread would still be viewable. I was thinking it could act as a sort of peace of mind for a GM, but for all the effort it would likely take to implement, it has very little pay off.

I had originally envisioned it akin to doing the same on Social Media, but as Social Media requires the viewer to be logged in to view profiles, generally speaking, there's not the same level of barrier present on the Guild.

I disagree, tbh. At least for the "see who is subscribed to your thread" part. I don't think it's really anyone's business at all to know what others subscribe to in private, GMs included.

The rest I'm 50/50 on. People could just always follow along anonymously/logged out or bookmark it in their browser's bookmarks. All it'd be doing would be creating excess options and tools that won't stop anyone who gives enough of a shit to keep up with a thread they got banned from. Personally, I think this idea would be better retooled as a "if someone is banned from a thread, then the thread should be hid from them". Like, actually hid hid. Can't access the thread at all, no subscriptions, etc. Of course there would still be the issue of having people being able to browse the thread offline/logged out (or on an alt account), but you could at least close the first loophole by having the mods/Mahz change the RP sections to "members only" sections so that guests won't be able to see someone's writing without an account.

That said, I do believe such an increase in privacy would come detrimental at the cost of the guild's growth. There are quite a few newbies who say they joined the site because they saw X rp happening. We'd be cutting off potential members for the sake of privacy, so it's kind of a win-loss moment, at least in terms to this discussion.

I'm really having a hard time wrapping my head how a thread creator being able to see who is subscribed to their thread being a violation in privacy. Would you be able to provide an example or elaborate more on that thought?

Personally, I think it'd open people up to reverse-stalking. There's probably a better term for that, but I see it something like being @'d just for browsing a thread and having someone question you or try to harass you into joining. I don't need people potentially DMing me or calling me out in a thread because I happen to be subscribed to it.

Also some people just like to keep things private and on the down low. It's why things like ghost mode exists. Heck, since we're on the topic of subscriptions, even Youtube has the option for someone to hide their subscriptions from everyone.

If such a system were to ever be implemented, then perhaps the solution would be to link it to ghost mode and people who use ghost mode won't appear in the subscriber list (and/or unless 'friends' with the GM potentially since ghost mode is only supposed to act as such to non-friends). I think reverse stalking already happens, it's not uncommon to see an eager GM tag or call out viewers, especially repeated views to their thread and I'd argue a GM is in every right to do that. They are after all acting as a recruiter when starting out a game and some players need to feel wanted or desired before getting involved.

Ideally, a GM being able to see who is subscribed to their thread is a quality-of-life tool though. Why go chasing down players who have ghosted if you also know they've unsubscribed from the thread? However, if a player has been quiet for a while and are still subscribed, a GM could be more inclined to approach them. Alternatively, if going through a recruitment drive, a subscriber who is not a player would be the first person I'd want to approach.

To further complicate the idea, I wonder if it'd be possible to subscribe and list yourself either as something akin to 'interested' or 'just viewing'. Assuming the aforementioned 'ghost mode' link doesn't solve any concerns.

I guess my counter question is why do you care? There's a very easy reason for why you wouldn't want someone posting in your thread anymore, but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around why you'd invest time and effort into coding a method (though it's probably not that hard) to prevent people from reading your thread altogether. They can't really do anything with it, save maybe plagiarize and/or parody it, but like, just create a new account and read the thread bro, it's not that hard to circumvent these types of thread bans, or just bans on RPG in general (and yes, I guess I would know ).

The privacy argument is a little silly though. Even ghost mode lets people you were on RPG in the last 0-12 hours so if you're trying to duck your way out of people knowing you haven't replied to them, it still doesn't work. So, who cares that people know you've subscribed to their thread?

Yeah, I'll admit the removal of the ability to view a thread was a bit of a half-baked comment. With ban skirting being as easy as it is, and the fact that the only solution beyond that would be to limit viewing to logged-in accounts, it would ruin a lot of the accessibility of the Guild.

Update Spam, maek me Spam mod. This is my wish o' great mighty RPG goderators. Gib this humble vessel the title of SPAM LORD...

Anyhow the real question is: Custom tags for rp threads, for more diversification. Like say you have lots of themes the normal tags don't apply to.

The intention for these tags was to be used in a search system so you could search for RPs that match your interests; allowing custom tags would defeat the purpose because we'd have about 200 different variations of "MLP" "My Little Pony" "Little Pony" "Equestria" etc. making it impossible to find anything that isn't using standardized tags..

Renaming PMs, and when a Person replies to a comment I made on their visitor messages I want my notifications to explain it's on their visitor messages not my own.

EDIT: It's fine not happening though, I see a thread subscribe list and totally know what they mean by not having it be. This is a powerful website There's just no drama thus far because it doesn't exist. - That aside, totally renaming PMs.

AFAIK from talking to the mods, Mahz is still alive; he is just very, very, very difficult to contact/get a hold of.
