"Ghost Song" might've left the worst first impression of any Metroidvania that I've played thus far. (To the point where I feel like these overwhelmingly positive reviews are straight up dishonest.) And I wish I looked into the game’s general opinions a little bit further. (Like I do for most things.) Because it certainly doesn't sound like it's going to get any better...

To be blunt. Here's my future review; This game gets absolutely. everything. wrong. Play literally any other Metroidvania game over this.

Note for future self: Games in development hell are basically always there for a reason, and should be avoided like the plague. Thanks for coming to my TED-talk.

I assume whatever the other edition is it's in the 100's? But ye wow, it don't seem like it really deserves a high price on steam.

I mean I'm sure Sony and whatnot put a lot of work into it, but I just can't justify the price hike going from sixty to seventy. Reminds me of the late 90s when games went from fifty to sixty, but the jump in graphical fidelity was a lot larger. I'm sure I'll end up liking Forspoken (like I did Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, and Horizon Zero Dawn but probably to a lesser extent), but I'm definitely going to penny pinch and wait for a sale that's advantageous to try it out.

That is definitely the way I'm leaning but I'll prolly give it a few months. I've got other games coming out to look forward to before I spends anything on Forspoken.

Ghosts of Tsushima, I have heard very good things about however.

I find it interesting that I pulled a second shiny Meowth (first was Galarian, this time Alolan) from eggs in POGO. I kind of wish it was something else, but I'm not going to complain; a shiny's a shiny.

Nobody Saves The World is grind-tastic so far. Time will tell how fun the game will stay.

What's everyone else playing?

I've been grinding through Persona 5 Royal now that I've got it on the switch. Aside from the occasional frame issue on a few particle effects it's done surprisingly well. I'm 70 hours in and still only in mid September, so I suppose it's true when they say it's a 200 hour game. The game balance is a little whacky, where some parts are bafflingly easy, while other parts have spikes in difficulty, especially with some enemies. I think my biggest gripe with the game so far is that sometimes it feels like a week's worth of game days go by where it's all cutscenes, and nothing happens. It just feels like slog in some places. But the core gameplay loop is fine enough and original charm of the game is still there, so I'm still having fun.

I just got Persona 5 Royal on Switch and still haven't slogged through SMT V.

Love both series, just it's all in the backlog™.

Been giving Pillars of Eternity another playthrough. I had a lot of fun with it the first time, and even completed the game, and linked it for the sequel. It's been a couple of years since I've played it though, and I'm beginning to remember a number of things. For one, holy shit Edér is way stronger than he has any right to be. Either that, or Fighter is just that strong. Combined with his regeneration, general tankiness and overall good stats, he's easily one my favorite party members. Second, there are so many perception checks. Perception is a good stat to have, don't get me wrong, but it feels like there's way too many of them. Then again, if you've ever played D&D or Pathfinder, one of the most common things you'll hear is "Roll Perception". One last thing I quite like about the game is that there's always something to do. There's always people to talk to, nooks and crannies to explore, enemies to fight, quests to do, checks to make, lore to read. You get the idea. Granted, if you're someone with wanderlust this might be seen as a bad thing, and can seem overwhelming, but I think it's worth it.

8.5/10 game, would highly recommend if you're into RTS games. It is a tad expensive, at $30 for the basic edition, and $40 for the definitive edition on Steam. though there are ways around that

I've been enjoying Splatoon 3, recently. The Turf Wars are pretty addicting. Story Mode is also super fun and silly.

Nobody Saves The World has a lot of content, and its numerous forms are fun to use. But the lacking challenge and enemy variety makes me feel like this game is a more passive experience. (Where I have to bring my own soundtrack, or listen to something else while I'm playing.) Though not everything in the game is a cakewalk. It has several side missions seemingly designed to be purposefully impossible, until you get some kind of overpowered combination through excess grinding. (But being annoying as hell, is not the same as creating an engaging objective.) So I might push my way through the final few levels. (With my own soundtrack, of course.) But while it gives you a nice variety of things to grind. (Literally gives you a "move around" experience bar near the end game.) I can't claim it "gets grind right", when I'm starting to grow a little sick of "breaking enemy wards" for 30 different characters. (Probably getting a 6/10 from me.)

And the story isn't charming me that much either, but maybe it'll end better?

Also, I recently watched a let's play stream of Hi-Fi Rush, and goddamn the game is filled to the brim with charm. (Far better than the initial "this game looks like RWBY" impressions that I originally got from it. Ha ha stupid male MC aside.) Plus the soundtrack seems better and more focused than No Straight Roads' was. (And I guess I'm not the only person to think so, since its director got upset at the unfavorable comparisons.) Though I'm not sure how much I'd personally connect to its gameplay. Since I haven't played many rhythm games.

I've tried giving WoW a few chances, but the game always felt so slow and clunky to me. Not to mention I wasn't really a fan of the combat or controls. (Granted, I did end up rebinding those. Still didn't help much.) I do find the whole Horde/Alliance thing to be kind of cool, but I haven't had much fun playing it, and don't see myself having much fun with it in the future.

Really? I got Generator Rex vibes from it off the trailer.

And the whole NSR comparisons thing is understandable. Like, imagine comparing NSR to...idfk...Harmoknight despite the two having more than enough differences besides "Rhythm-Based Combat"

HI-FI RUSH ABSOLUTELY FUCKS THE FIRST BOSS IS SET TO A NINE INCH NAILS SONG IT RIPS SO MUCH HOLY FUCK

Sorry I had to get that off of my chest. But anyway yes HFR is fucking dope as hell. I've always loved character action games and this is a fuckin good one that doubles as a rhythm game but the beautiful thing is you don't really have to engage with it (I mean, you do if you want to S rank stuff) because the game will hit attacks on the beat automatically if you don't do it yourself. Pressing your attack combos in time with the beat does more damage but even if you're off timing or just not caring, all attacks from you and enemies attack on the beat so it becomes this wonderful, vibrant, musical dance.

If ya'll got GamePass I highly suggest playing it. It fuckin owns easy 5/5 game.
