A Collab between: Carlisle Aston @Hedgehawk & Lilith Montgomery @HaleyTheRandom
Time: 7:45 PM

After venting his feelings out to Miles, Carlisle felt somewhat cathartic. A wave of calming energy had overcome him, and for the first time inwer the past couple of weeks, he wasn't having to actively suppress his internal rage. This was progress. Good progress. But there was still someone else that he needed to talk to. He needed to clear the air with. Though he did wonder if Lilith was going to turn up, afterall, this wasn't her jam. He got that. It wasn't his either. He would rather be over by the council stones where things were quiet and peaceful. His place on the veranda was a halfway happy compromise.

He was pulled out of his contemplation when he was suddenly met with Caitlin out on the veranda with him. He knew he was supposed to have a serious conversation about the circumstances that had brought her back to the coven. But he couldn’t be arsed having that conversation right now. To make matters worse, she was practically offering him a joint.

”Given the trouble you are in, do you really think that it is worth you going around carrying one of them out in the open, and then offering it to your new boss?”

"It's not like I got nailed on a DUI." Cait shrugged.

Carlisle let out a deep sigh, that wave of calm had now gone, and was replaced with rising anger once more. The sigh was his attempt to try and centre himself. ”Not now Cait…”

Cait shrugged a second time. "You do you, bro." She stepped further onto the veranda, taking another toke. Dude's gonna die from stress one of these days.

Looking into the crowd, Carlisle scanned and monitored, looking for that familiar hairstyle that belonged to Lilith. No matter how hard he looked he couldn't quite find her however. With a second sigh, he moved into the party pushing past Caitlin. The room was alot more crowded than he thought it would be. The loud music made it even harder for Carlisle to focus on who he was looking for. After a longer scan, he eventually locked onto Lilith at the drinks table and walked on over to her, standing next to her.

"I am glad I found you. Wanna bring the drink outside where it is a bit quieter"

After Grandpa John had woken her up, forced her to shower, made sure that she could walk in a straight line and drove her to the party - Lilith had finally arrived at the Coven House. Still ever so slightly tipsy from her whiskey bender only a few hours previous, Lilith quickly found the booze selection once she was in the house. Reaching for the closest bottle of Jose Cuervo she could find, Lilith blindly poured the contents from the glass bottle into her newly claimed solo cup. As she reached for the orange juice in the cooler beneath her, Lilith stood back up only to hear Carlisle's voice as she unscrewed the lid.

”Carlisle. Darling,” she began, fighting with the stupid plastic protective piece on top of the opening of the bottle as she spoke. ”I’ve had a long day. I really wanna get wasted.” Pouring just enough OJ for color into the cup, she sighed before sitting the juice back down on the table and screwing the top back on. ”So. Unless you can convince me that whatever conversation we’re about to have is more important than my liquor - I’m standing right here.”

Carlisle let out a soft sigh. She had been drinking already. He really did do a number on her with his little act before. He picked up the bottle of Jose and the OJ bottle carefully balancing them in one arm, while he used his other arm to wrap around Lilith's waist and act as a guide as he moved her away from the crowd and towards the more peaceful areas of the room.

"I got all the drink you need, let's go to the table out on the veranda and get you some more drinks mixed" He knew giving her more drink at this point was not exactly the responsible thing to do. But she was an adult, and he trusted her not to go overboard with it. But he would rather be able to keep an eye on her. Taking them out onto the veranda, he found the metal table and set down the drinks on it before guiding Lilith to a seat. Once she was properly sat down, he would sit down himself. "I appreciate that I haven't exactly made the day any good for you. In fact - I am most likely the reason you are drinking right now" Carlisle took a long drink from his 'Wine' glass, needing courage to be able to say what he wanted to say later, even though the fake drink wouldn't do anything except make him go to the toilet later and piss out red urine.

Lilith wasn’t the sort of person that liked to be touched casually. With her current state of mind and the amounts of alcohol that were already running through her system, she didn’t have the strength to argue with Carlisle as he directed her onto the veranda. After all, he had just politely stolen all of Lil’s party supplies - and she did want those back.

Sitting across from him, Lilith sighed as she took another drink from her cup.

”Why do you always think everything has to do with you, Carlisle? Do you know how much shit I have going on in my life right now? How much shit I’ve had going on for the last month? As she rambled on, Lilith’s tone became increasingly frustrated. ”No. You don’t. Because you haven’t stopped long enough to care or listen. You’re just suck in goddamn Carlton Town.”

Carlisle put the two bottles up onto the table, and made sure that Lilith could reach them. With a soft sigh he listens to her. He had a rough idea about what she was talking about. He hadn't had the time with preparing the coven for today, that he could have sat down and spoke to her properly.

"Well that is kind of the point I want to talk to you. I haven't exactly been a good friend the past few months. I know I have been selfish. I have been putting my needs above yours, and that's not how Friendships work." Carlisle let out a soft sigh, brushing his hands through his head. "Also, you were right. That book you told me not to touch. Turns out it was cursed. Apparently I am under the effects of some kind of Lycan curse"

Listening to Carlisle speak, Lilith continued to sip on her drink and focus on the bass of the music softly thudding beneath her feet. She would have happily accepted his apology, and might have even let him off fairly easily - had it not been for the final thing he had said.

”I know I’m right,” Lilith retorted harshly. ”When have I never not been right,” she questioned him. ”You’ve gone and fucked yourself up, Carlisle. Do you have any fucking clue how many different possibilities there are for the shit that could be going on with you right now? How many Lycan curses there are in existence? Do you even know how to fight one? Or how long you’ve been cursed? You’re so fucking stupid sometimes, I swear.”

Reaching into the pocket of her skirt, Lilith pulled out a zip-lock bag, and promptly removed a blunt from the bag before lighting it. Taking a long drag, Lilith sighed once more.

”You really frustrate me, ya know that,” she continued, blowing smoke out through her nose like some sort of pissed off dragon. ”I literally had a whole ass vision about you not touching that stupid book, told you about it, and you completely ignored my warnings. What kind of person ignores a diviner's visions?” Reaching for the bottle of tequila with her free hand, Lilith didn’t bother to mix her next drink and instead chose to drink directly from the bottle.

”I care about you. I don’t tell you not to do things because I don’t want you to have fun, Carlisle. You’re reckless. You don’t think. You get yourself hurt - constantly. And usually I don’t mind picking up the pieces, but sometimes I think that I just need to leave you in the holes you dig for yourself.”

Carlisle couldn't hide the fact that he was hurt by her words. Words like stupid stung deeply more than he wanted to admit. But she was right. Carlisle was reckless. He always thought he was being helpful ”I….I….I” he stuttered, struggling to put her sentences together. ”I wanted to read the book because I thought it might help me understand your situation better. Thought it might have helped me find a way to be useful. I didn’t stop to think that the curse might be real.”

”I should have listened. And now I have to try and shake this curse. I will do it on my own. Don’t worry. I will give you the time you need to unwind.” With a soft smile he looked at Lilith taking a drag from her joint. Moments ago he had admonished Caitlin for having one, but around Lil, he didn’t seem to care at all. ”And about this morning, and what I was going to say. Don’t worry bout it. I shouldn’t have tried to say it. Can’t even be a good friend, what chance do I have of being a decent boyfriend huh?” He said with a self-deprecating chuckle.

Continuing to drink and smoke, Lilith listened to Carlisle as she rolled her eyes during the right moments. She had all but tuned him out before he steered the conversation back in the direction of this morning's events. Mid drink, Lilith choked on the tequila as Carlisle uttered the ‘b-word’.

”So that is what you were going for this morning,” she thought aloud, her brow furrowed. ”Not a good idea,” she simply stated. ”Last few months aside or not - just… I… me, you…”

Flopping her head back in frustration, Lilith stared at the stars as she finished speaking.

”I’m not good with these things, Carlisle. And I really don’t want to hurt your feelings. And I really don’t like or understand the concept of…. All that.”

While Lilith did not want to hurt his feelings, he certainly felt hurt. But it was hurt that he deserved. He had some work to do. He had some introspection to do. Still, that sinking feeling was opening up inside the bowels of his stomach. He took a long drink from his glass. The last part of her sentence was still hanging into him like a barbed fish hook. He was resisting the urge to say something. Something nuclear. Pushing it deep inside him. But as he focused on that, the anger and frustration from the curse was pushing it forward. Sadly, the curse won.

”Don’t understand the concept of boyfriends, yet was all too quick to have a boyfriend with Miles” He said, venom dripping slightly from his lips. Carlisle quickly regained his composure, burying his head in his hands. ”Fuck… that wasn’t me speaking. It's the curse. It keeps taking control of my emotional insecurity” Above them, the barrier over the sky flickered once more.

A short, sarcastic laugh creeped up on Lil, forcing its way out of her mouth before she pressed the bottle to her lips once more. Smacking her tongue against her teeth, Lilith looked at Carlisle with a cold expression.

”You’re honestly holding something against me that I did years ago? How on fucking earth are any of my past or current relationships ANY of your business?” she sneered, nearly slamming the bottle on the table as she leaned forward. Crossing her arms she added: ”Oh please. Do continue. After all - curse or not, you have some things to get off of your chest right? Your stupid, petty, childish jealousy over some guy I had a thing with years ago?”

Taking a deep breath, Lilith took one final, long drag from her blunt before throwing it on the concrete and stomping it out with her boot. Leaning back in the chair so that it was teetering on the back two legs, Lilith placed her feet on the table and crossed her ankles before speaking once again.

”Tell me, Carlisle -” she spoke venomously, her eyes flicking back upwards to meet him. ”Does his mere presence threaten you that much?”

Carlisle had alot on his chest. That was for sure. Miles was his friend, best friend even. But Miles also had plenty of things that Carlisle did not have. So yeah. Jealous. That was how he felt most of the time. Shifting and squirming uncomfortably he tried at first to avoid her gaze, before finally settling himself and speaking.

"Honestly. At times it does" There. He had verbalised his complicated relationship with Miles. Didn't exactly make him feel any better. "Here is the thing. Miles is really nice. But, when it comes to girls… it gets complicated." Shifting in his seat once more, Carlisle tried to lower his gaze away from Lilith, but her sheer venomous aura was almost locking his eyes to hers. " Throughout senior year and College, I would find girls I liked, then go to Miles for advice, and Miles would then sleep with them and take them from me. Everytime he would come up with another excuse as to why he had to do it. 'Oh Carlisle, you wouldn't be compatible with her. Oh she wasn't that good in bed, I am doing you a favour' "

Carlisle was struggling to hold his emotions together, a small tear escaped from his left eye, clearly this was a sore subject for him. "Coming back to Tanner and spending the last two years with you. It's been like, the best. I know you don't have the same feelings as I do, but you are amazing." As panic set in, his voice began to get faster and faster bordering on hyperventilating. "And now he is back. And history will repeat itself. I already told him that I like you. So he is probably going to swoop in and take you away from me too. The edges of Carlisle's body had began to nervously shake. Taking a few deep breaths to recompose himself, Carlisle drew a long sigh "I want my turn. I am fed up with Miles threatening any relations I have with amazing women. This is worth fighting for. If I have to start changing my ways to be within a chance, then change I will. I can't promise it will be an immediate change though. But I will work on it. And I will succeed" If Lilith was using her empath abilities to read Carlisle then he was telling the truth. There were years of hurt buried under his words: nights being forced to sit in the college dorm corridor while Miles 'entertained' another girl. All the excuses that came after. And there was a determination in his soul now. Lilith was worth fighting for.

The brunette sat there staring at him, listening as he spoke. Lilith knew that Carlisle was being genuine, but part of her didn’t care - because she didn’t want him to care. All in all she was confused and just pissed off - mostly because of the vibe coming from inside the house that she was so desperately trying to ignore. Lilith didn’t know what was going on in there, but she sure did plan on avoiding it. The downside to Lilith’s empathy was that other people's emotions around her sometimes affected hers, especially when she was so wasted.

”You’ll ‘change’? Carlisle, you shouldn’t have to want or need to change for anyone. That’s just being toxic to yourself.” Reaching forward to grab the bottle of tequila once more, Lilith kept her legs crossed on the table as she spoke between drinks. ”Your turn,” she mused, staring at the golden liquid now as it sloshed around. ”As if I’m just some prize that you can both win at the county fair and pass around? A child that you can share custody of? Your turn? Fuckin’ spare me.”

As she spoke, Lilith’s southern accent came out more and more. Angry and drunk, she removed her feet from the table and let the chair fall back properly on the ground before standing. Bottle still in hand, she slid the chair back under the table with force as she grumbled: ”And to think that he actually defended you to me of all people. That should tell me all that I need to know about both of your characters, hm?” Scoffing, she pressed the bottle to her lips, looking him up and down with an expression that could only be described as disgust.

While Lilith was a tad angry at Carlisle, it was really the whole entire principal of the larger picture that had her so irate.

”I’m not someones fucking possesion,” she cried out, her knuckles white as she continued grabbing on to the tequila. Standing with her free hand on the back of the chair, Lilith was doing the best that she could not to sway or slur her speech.

"I didn't mean it like that…" Carlisle quickly defended. It was becoming clear that Carlisle was in a lose/lose situation. Any attempt at trying to fix this only seemed to make it worse. "I wasn't trying to say that you were a possession. It was more my frustration at the situation in general. Not you" Carlisle drew a long breath. It wasn't easy trying to sort through the absolute mess that was his emotions.

"Don't blame Miles for anything. It wasn't his fault. It's all mine. He actually gave me advice to try and 'woo' you for a lack of a better word." He ran his hands through his hair. A nervous tenancy he seemed to do to give away his distress. " If anything it is just a bad reflection on my character. I was desperate. And in the process of trying to be selfish I ended up pushing everyone close to me away. Good one Carlisle. I am going to turn into my mother. I can feel it" With one more sigh he took the final drink from his 'drink'. Right now he kinda wished he had done alcohol.

"Miles has matured a bit over the past few months. More than I have, that's for sure. And it would be stupid for me to try and block you two getting together. I know he misses you. And then I dumped on him my feelings for you. No. I should just stand aside. You do what you need to do." Carlisle was hurting, he could feel a lump forming in throat as he spoke those words. He didn't know want to do. What to say, to make any of this right.

" I guess it's the pressure of it all. Miles and Serena coming back at the same time makes me feel like I am trying to fight too many battles at the same time. And what if I lose them all? What if by the end of all this, I end up exactly how my mother said I would be? It scares me." Carlisle broke into a nervous chuckle, trying to disguise his hurt. He was sitting across the table from one of the world's strongest empaths, but he was going to try nonetheless. " Ignore me, I am just wallowing. Go, go enjoy the party, do what you need to do. And whatever happens, I am okay with it. Promise" He finished, giving off a broken smile.

What I need to do is find the pause button for this bullshit, she thought, standing there as she let him speak his piece. Caught between wanting to console him or sending him to the Shadow Realm, Lilith sighed and took another drink before she spoke.

”If you keep on goin’ like you’re goin’ you’re sure as hell gonna prove ‘em all right,” she stated matter of factly. ”I always knew you had feelings for me - or at least had my suspicions. I just ignored them. Always tried not to read my friends. It’s not fair to always know if I’m being lied to or not. Sometimes I just want to be a dumb, naive little girl,” she sighed, taking yet another drink. ”I never asked you about it because I’m selfish. Because I wanted my friend. It’s not that I didn’t or don’t want to feel the same about you, it's just….” Releasing her grip on the back of the chair, Lilith waved her hands wildly in front of her for a brief moment in frustration.

Resteading herself, the young woman looked over at him once again.

”Kiss me,” she blurted out. ”We both know you want to. It's the only way I’m ever going to know if I feel the same, and I’m drunk off my ass anyway so just… kiss me.”

Carlisle sat there for a moment stunned. It took him a moment for him to register what she was implying. He got what he wanted right? So why was he hesitating now? Was it the fact that she was drunk? Did he feel like he was taking advantage of her? Possibly. But he wasn't going to get another chance like this. At all. Ever. He had to take it.

If he was really going to do this. He had to do it right. But what exactly was right? After all, this was his first kiss. Okay… Go with your gut right?. He would grab hold of her hand from across the table and stand her up, guiding her around the table so she was in front of him. All the while making sure that he was gentle with his touch. That was important to him. Once she was in front of him, he sat back down and pulled her down to sit on his knees. His brain was telling him this was the most romantic thing to do.

With a deep breath, he closed his eyes and finally made his move. Leaning in he softly and gently planted his lips onto hers, wrapping his arms around her and raising one to grab her hair from the behind. His heart rate at this point was off the charts. It felt nice. Peace was restored in the universe. Wasn't sure he was doing it right, but for a first attempt this wasn't bad surely? Do you use tongues In a kiss? Carlisle decided not to press his luck and broke away after five or so seconds. Letting go of the back of her hair he opened his eyes and took a content sigh, looking up at her. The sunlight from the setting sun bounced off her hair perfectly. Was he alive right now?

Lilith allowed Carlisle to take the lead, doing her best not to make things more awkward than she already had. As Carlisle kissed her, a thousand thoughts ran through her mind. Was this wrong? Was this going to ruin their friendship no matter which way it went? Pushing the thoughts out of her mind, Lilith did what she could to focus on the fact that Carlisle’s lips were pressed against hers.

Once things had come to an end, Lilith quickly stood up and cleared her throat before taking the final drink of Tequila.

Avoiding all eye contact with Carlisle, Lilith moved to light another blunt as she grabbed the baggie from the table. Striking the lighter, she felt her face burning red, her eyes hot. Sure that Carlisle was waiting on some sort of response, the young woman sighed. Frustrated once more, she took a few puffs before speaking.

”No dice,” she grumbled. Still standing, Lilith crossed her arms as she stared through the back door of the Coven House to where the rest of the party was going on. Quickly wiping away a single, angry tear, Lilith took a deep breath as she tried to keep her hands from shaking.

”I… Nothing,” she said with a shrug. ”It wasn’t a bad kiss, Car, I just… I don’t feel that way about you. I have love for you - as my friend - but I’m not going to be in love with you. I’m sorry.”

Carlisle watched as Lilith walked away. Every second that she didn't say anything felt like an eternity. Had he done something wrong? He must have done. He must have forgotten what Miles had told him to do. What was he going to do now? Eventually Lilith broke the silence. It was his worse nightmare come true. He couldn't see Lilith right now, and perhaps that was for the best. A stream of hot tears flowed down his face, corning two straight streams of tears. He did his best to suppress making any noise.

"I.. I.. No… I.. No…. I.." Words were failing him. The deep breaths were starting to become faster and faster. Upset, betrayal, sadness, confusion, anger. His emotions were cycling through so many states he could quite contain them all. Standing up, Carlisle brushed his shirt across his nose, wiping away the snot that was starting to appear.

He would walk past Lilith, not evening stopping to look at her. "It's fine. As you said. No dice. Run along. I am sure your 'prince' is somewhere inside that room" He said, his words laced with equal parts sadness and malice. Clearly he had no control over his emotions right now. With that he took a few more steps away, avoiding eye contact with her at all cost.

”’Run along?”’ she growled. ”Who the fuck do you think you are, Carlisle Aston? What gives you the right to speak to me the way you have the last few weeks, hm? ‘I’m so worried about losing my friends’” she mocked him, clearly not giving a shit about what was flying out of her mouth as her mental filter disappeared. ”For someone who’s so worried about making the wrong decisions, you sure do keep on fucking up, my guy!”

Taking another drag, she shook her head, looking at her feet before she looked back up to stare daggers at the back of his head. Arms outstretched in defeat, Lilith shouted once more. ”I mean - what do you want me to do? Lie to you? Because I could, Carlisle. I could lie and be a bitch and use you, but I’m choosing to be honest. I am choosing to be the good person here and you just keep stooping lower and lower.” A single finger now pointed in his direction, she fought back the angry tears threatening to roll down her face. ”If you wanna keep fucking disrespecting me, so help me, I’ll beat the fucking gentleman back into you.”

Carlisle stopped. He shouldn't have taken the bait. He wanted to keep her as a friend. He should keep walking away. But no. He turned around. "Oh no. Heaven forbid I treat you badly. The past two years. Two years, I did everything to make your life better. I wanted to make your life better. I loved you. But clearly that means nothing. Cause Fucking Miles is back on the scene and you will go running back to him. Well you know what Lilith. Fuck you, and fuck him" With that Carlisle turned around, giving Lilith one last flip of the middle finger before running off towards the Alchemy lab.

While Lilith might have been trying to be the bigger person, she also liked to have the last word in any situation. Carlisle had no right to speak to her the way that he had been. Friends didn’t treat friends this way, and people who ‘loved’ you damn sure didn’t.

”Make my life better,” she shrieked, reaching for the empty bottle on the table as he turned away from her once again. ”All I ever have to do is look after your stupid ass!”

With the final word being said, Lilith slung the bottle - aiming for the back of Carliles head.

Carlisle was walking away and was suddenly smacked in the back of the head by something. He let out a howl of pain and fell forward, the impact knocking off his balance as he fell face first into the patio, once again his nose smashing into the wooden floor and shattering for the second time for the day. "FUCK!" The pain was overwhelming. With a whimper he lay there for a moment, not getting up as the tequila bottle rolled infront of him, the edge of it coated in a red liquid. His blood. Carlisle just began to cry out loud lying there on the veranda.

Seeing her friend in pain allowed the tears to freefall down Lils face. She knew what she was doing by throwing the bottle, but that didn’t mean that a small part of her didn’t regret it; and if there was one thing Lilith had learned from growing up around a plethora of men - sometimes they just couldn’t take the hint until it literally hit them in the face. So there they stood. Well, she stood. Carlisle was on the ground crying like a child.

”No,” she spoke, slowly walking over to him to pick up the larger pieces of the broken bottle. Fuck you. I haven’t even really spoken to Miles and you’re already acting like a fucking… a bitch. An absolute bitch, Carlisle. Quite frankly, worse than any woman I have ever encountered in my existence. Imagine what would happen if we actually did get back together. Jesus fuck.” Glass now in hand, Lilith stood up as she sighed once again, opening the screen door as she stepped inside. One foot still on the veranda, she looked down at him again.

”I hope this gives you some time to reflect. When you’re ready to be my friend again - then we’ll talk.”

Location: Pearson Household ~ Coven Household
Interactions: Pearson Siblings. Catherine@SouffleGirl123

It had been an average day in the Pearson household. Mr and Mrs Pearson spent the majority of the day at work. The twin boys spent their days trying to avoid college work, whilst Lydia was trying not to die of boredom as she listened to her private tutor waffle on. Getting home-schooled wasn’t the fun she first pictured it to be. Yes, her parents allowed her to be taught the things that she liked and excelled at; art. But she also had to put up with the more annoying subjects like Math, Science, History ect. Her parents wanted her to have some knowledge of the world; something to help propel her towards a better future. Rather than just relying on everyone to do things for her. Lydia would have to learn that everything wasn’t always handed to her on a silver platter.

Leaning her chin against the palm of her hand, her fingers drumming against the wooden table that she was sitting at. Making notes in her makeshift schooling book. Resisting the urge to draw random swirls and hearts around the border of the page. God knows, her mother would have a fit if her schooling books contained those.

Whilst Lydia wanted to say that her day was thrilling; it was far from it. The only relief came from her private tutoring coming to an end for the day. Almost jumping out of her seat with eagerness when the clock struck 5pm and her lessons came to an end. It was at that time that her brothers waltzed into the room. Grinning from ear to ear; like they knew something. Those two always seemed to hear the latest gossip and news that went on around the Coven.

“You still listening to your tutor drone on?” One of the twins questioned. “I am surprised you’re not getting ready for the party.” The twins themselves were planning on dropping by for a while themselves. But it was more of Lydia’s scene, than theirs.

“Party? There’s a party?” Lydia asked, her eyes widening with delight.

The twins chuckled, at the way she seemed to pipe up in excitement. “Yeah, at the coven…” before they could finish speaking. Lydia ran past them and upstairs to her bedroom. Shaking their heads. Knowing that their baby sister would jump at the next chance to attend a party. Coven party or not. Lydia would be there. Hearing what they thought was a light thud, as she almost tripped over her own feet, whilst taking the stairs 2 at a time. Knowing she probably should have spent some time expanding on her magic usage. But a party sounded like the more fun option.

It took her a long while getting ready. Lydia started off with picking her outfit. Almost going through her entire wardrobe just to pick out the dress she wanted to wear tonight. Picking a dress, she knew her big brother Tristan would not approve of. But that wasn’t going to stop her. In her mind; she was old enough to wear it; no matter what he’d say about it. Leaving her outfit laying out on her bed. Lydia then took a shower; freshening herself up. Luckily she had an ensuite bathroom, to her bedroom. All of the rooms in the Pearson house included one. As she dried herself off; she left a towel wrapped around her body. Doing her make-up in the mirror bathroom. Along with her hair. Opting for styling her hair in curls. With a few spritz of her hair spray. Hopefully the curls would hold for the majority of the day.

“Lyd come on!” Maverick’s voice carried through the hallway, outside of Lydia’s bedroom/ensuite bathroom.

Rolling her eyes, Lydia yelled back. “I am almost done, sheesh!” Walking into her bedroom. She then got herself dressed. Double-checking her appearance in the mirror. It was almost 8pm, and she was finally ready. Knowing the twins were probably bored to death, waiting on her so long. But trying to look fabulous took time. Grabbing her favourite high-heels that she kept on a shoe rack by her bedroom door. She slipped them on; before joining the twins out in the hallway. Following them downstairs and out to the car. Letting the twins drive towards the coven house, Lydia had scrolled down the window as she was sitting in the passenger seat of the car. Not wanting to be squished at the back. Taking in the views of Tanner at night-time. It was her favourite time of the day. Feeling more alive and awake than she did during the day.

It didn’t take them long to arrive at the coven household. Especially with her brother speeding the car on occasion. Driving like a bit of a wild nutter.

In the meantime, Tristan had spent his time chilling with Aurora and Catherine. But his ears caught the first fight of the night. It certainly didn’t take long for the night to turn into a shit-storm. Raising an eyebrow at the yelling, screaming and who knows what else that carried through the coven house.

‘Damn. This new Chick didn’t take long to try and piss off the coven.’ He thought to himself. Feeling somewhat relieved, that his little sister Lydia wasn’t here. He’d spend the entire night worrying. Clearly he made that assumption a bit too early. As at that particular moment, he saw a familiar sight. The twins walk in casually, followed by Lydia. Whom was all but bouncing on her feet in excitement.

“Oh no, you don’t.” Tristan muttered to himself when he saw what she was wearing. It was a wonder, the sight didn’t give him an aneurysm. Getting up from his seat, he walked over to her. A frown visible across his face. “What do you call this?!” His tone was demanding, eyebrow raised.

As Lydia got out of the car, she straightened out her crimson dress. Not wanting it to be creased upon her arrival. The music was blasting already, as she arrived. The twins head off in their own direction to mingle. On her way to the drinks table. Lydia saw her big brother practically fuming when he saw her arrive. “Umm Hi.” She said, greeting her big brother. Smirking at his question. “A party? This is a party.” Her voice filled with her usual sass. “Haven’t you ever been to one? I didn’t think you’d be so clueless about a party.” Stopping when she saw a familiar face “Oh my god, Cat!” she squealed in excitement. Running over to Catherine to embrace her in a hug. Lydia missed her friend. It felt like forever since she had last seen her. “It’s so good to see you.” she smiled at Catherine. After squeezing her in a hug for a few moments, she finally let her go; so she could pour herself a drink. Grabbing one of the bottles of Gin, so she could make herself a gin and tonic.

With a huff, Tristan followed Lydia. “I know what a party is.” he rolled his eyes slightly. “I meant this! What is this!?” he said, gesturing to her outfit like a mad man. Her dress was all sort of short and revealing. “You are going back home, right now young Missy and changing into something more appropriate.” Seeing Lydia trying to pour herself a cup of Gin and Tonic; he grabbed the half filled cup from her, setting it on the table. “No!” he shook his head firmly. No way was he letting her drink the hard stuff.

Lydia tried not to laugh at her big brother, as he gestured madly at her dress. “It’s a dress.” As he demanded that she go home and change, she scoffed. “No way! It’s a new dress. I am not letting it go to waste in my wardrobe.” Lydia whined when he took the cup away from her. “Oi!” She then proceeded to grab another cup, starting to fill it up again.

“This is a coven party. Not a licence to get laid.” Tristan reminded Lydia, when she brought up not wanting to change her dress. “Little help here ladies?” looking towards Catherine and Aurora, for some help. Hoping that the girls might be on his side and tell Lydia, she didn’t exactly pick the best outfit for the night. It seemed like his little sister however didn’t get the message, as she started filling up another cup. Taking that cup away from her also.

Caitlin Morgan Cade

With a couple of hits off her joint, Caitlin had reached cloud nine. Snuffing out the burning end to save for later, she slid it into her pocket along with her lighter. She looked through the doors into the dining room, seeing that the party was starting to grow more lively. Not one to pass up the party favors, she crossed the veranda back into the house. Carlisle passed by her, escorting an inebriated Lilith.

RIP, bro. If Cait remembered the two properly, a stressed Carlisle and a drunk Lilith wasn't destined to end well.

The high was in full swing as she stepped inside. The long table, stocked with drinks and snacks, was a treasure trove to the bloodshot eyes. She moved with a float in her step, stopping in front of the junk food buffet, surveying the plethora of options Carlisle had provided. Eyes darting back and forth, Cait finally found her refreshments of choice. She placed a bottle of water under her arm, then mixed a pour of cola into a splash of rum. From the snacks, she helped herself to a bowl full of Takis; the spicy, burrito-shaped tortilla chips had become a favorite.

Stocked with snacks and sips, Caitlin journeyed from the dining room into the living room, giving Jaz a passing nod as she passed. Along the way she nodded in acknowledgement of the other party goers as well. She buckled slightly as the floor rumbled from an explosion in the basement. She scrambled to keep her treats from falling to the floor; relief settled when she managed to save her cocktail from spilling out.

Arriving unscathed in the living room, she set her drink on the coffee table and flopped down into a plush armchair next to it. Snatching the cocktail up, she took a large gulp, downing almost half of it in a single go. Plunging her hand into her helping of Takis, she slowly snacked, savoring the spicy flavoring as it interplayed with her high. She kicked back in the armchair, stretching in a feline fashion before settling her arms behind her head. She rotated the armchair ninety degrees, and watched into the dining room.

She had turned around at just the right moment to see party action unfold. Delaney, whom Cait remembered having frequented a few parties with in high school, had gotten caught in a ruckus with a girl Cait couldn't recall seeing before. So much as she wanted to look away, she couldn't help but observe the ensuing fight with the interest of fan watching their team play a home game.

Before long, Serena and Erin had joined in; the home team was on a war path. Cait leaned forward, half excited and half terrified as the three threw the one to the floor. Her bloodshot eyes, glazed by the THC, widened beyond sensible size. Her chest throbbed; the half full glass of rum and coke trembled on the coffee table in perfect syncopation.

Then the fire came, flaring in the hand of the new girl.

Cait's stomach felt like it flipped as the exploding sensation filled the space behind her sternum. Just like Venice Beach. Just like...

She spun the chair back around in a one-eighty. Her cocktail glass, as though tied to her on a string, whipped across the living room and shattered against the wall, its contents left trickle down to the floor. The shrieks pierced through the rest of the noise. Cait buried a hand into her cargo pocket and jammed a pair of buds forcefully into into her ears. Pulling out her phone, ignoring a missed text, she dropped her thumb on the play button and let the ensuing tracks ease her back in.

Deep breaths, and a silently mouthed mantra brought about a calming wave. It's not like that.

A collab between: Miles Price @SouffleGirl123 & Lilith Montgomery @HaleyTheRandom
Time: 8:00 PM

After his discussion with Carlisle, Miles returned to the party making a beeline for the drinks table. He needed a drink real bad after all that introspection, it may have been mainly Carlisle’s introspection but the energy itself was enough to leave Miles feeling uneasy. He picked up a bottle of bourbon from the table and filled half his solo cup with it, downing a good couple of mouthfuls it would be a start at least. From there he watched around, his eyes were soon drawn to the middle of the room where a fight was brewing. A smile formed on his face, finally the distraction he was wanting. He stood on the sidelines, contributing to the cheers in Delaney’s favour. As the fight closed and Erin pulled Delaney away Miles raised his bourbon-filled cup in their direction before taking another sip.

Erin gave Miles a small smirk of recognition from across the room as she found her friend somewhere to sit, dragging her towards the veranda. Lilith stumbled in, nearly knocking both of them over. Grabbing the brunette's arm with her free hand, Erin did her best to steady her fellow woman before continuing on her way.

Once inside the Coven House, Lilith did her best to stand up straight and take another deep breath to recenter herself. Looking around the room, Lilith beelined for the drink table as quickly as she could. Luckily, the crowd in the main room was tight, and practically helped shove her there. Still holding on to the contents of her broken tequila bottle, Lilith felt the glass bite into the palm of her hand. Looking down briefly, she saw a few small cuts appearing on her hand. Strangely enough, this worked to ground her better than anything else.

Completely and utterly stuck in her own little world, Lilith reached out to grab another bottle of tequila before stumbling and grabbing the edge of the table. While doing so, she managed to knock one of Carlile’s many bowls of chips to the floor.

Shaking her head, the young woman looked at the mess beneath her feet.

”Fuck,” she muttered, trying to bend down to clean the scene of the crime.

From his place on the other side of the room Miles spotted Lilith stumbling through the crowd. He contemplated going over to her but what would be the purpose? They had their reunion if that’s what he would call it. He almost talked himself out of it until he eyed the broken tequila bottle in her hands, parts painted red with blood. He sighed, there's no stopping the impulse to talk to her now. Besides, he needed a refill.

By the time he got to the table Lilith was already knelt over the floor picking up chips. Miles placed himself next to her ”What happened to you?” he asks, nodding at the broken glass bottle stubbornly in her hand.

Picking up the chips one by one with her free hand, Lilith was caught in almost a trance-like state before a familiar voice brought her out of her dissociation. Looking up, Lilith slightly jumped in shock as she was met face to face with Miles. Locking eyes with him briefly, she tore her gaze away from the dark haired boy to focus on the chips once more.

Debating on whether she wanted to actually engage in this conversation, it seemed as if the alcohol was now controlling her body as she blurted out: ”I hit Carlisle.”

Miles’ brow furrows at her statement. Honestly that was one of the last things he expected to hear from her, her and Carlisle were best buds… right? ”I’m sorry, what? Why?” While saying the words it sounded like a loaded question. Carlisle was much more raw than usual today and he had alluded to ‘officially’ asking Lil out.

”He um… I asked to be left alone, you know,” she began with a shrug of her shoulders. ”And so he took my liquor out onto the veranda and told me he had some things to talk to me about - nothing out of the ordinary, ya know.” The full effect of the alcohol now finally starting to kick in, Lilith resituated herself so that she was now sitting on the floor. Getting more and more upset by the minute, she didn’t realize that her grip on shards of glass was getting tighter. ”And then he just started like… attacking me! For no reason! Well, I guess he had a reason, but it’s a shit reason, and he can shove it where the sun don’t shine, along with the rest of this fucking tequila bottle.”

At her mention of Carlisle wanting to talk Miles couldn’t help but give a chuckle. ”Yeah, he seems to be in that kind of mood today,” Lilith then talked about Carlisle attacking her, a wave of confusion rushed through Miles, it was so unlike his timid friend. That was when he was reminded about the curse. ”Like, physically? Looks like you won. Is he still breathing at least?” he asks, making a mental note to check in on Carlisle later.

His eyes moved to Lilith’s hand again, as her hand wrapped tighter around the glass more blood seemed to spill as the glass cut deeper into the palm of her hand. ”The first thing we’re gonna do is let go of that,” he says matter of factly, attempting to take it from her. ”Wannna hand getting up?”

”But my trinkets,” she pleaded weakly, finally letting Miles take the broken glass from her as she leaned her head against one of the legs on the table. In response to his question about Carlisle, Lilith had waved a drunken hand dismissively in the air, brushing away the bad vibes. ”I guess he’s alive,” she pondered. ”At least he was when I told him to go fuck himself.”

With a sigh, Lilith looked out towards the crowd as a small groan escaped her lips. ”I don’t even know if I should move right now, man. Feel like I’m on a fuckin carousel or some shit. Another drink sounds magnificent though.”

At Lilith’s beg to keep her bottle Miles couldn’t help but chuckle. It was adorable, really. On taking the bottle he grabs a solo cup and attempts to push the bottle into one of the cups jagged end first. It only sat a quarter of the way into the cup and was unstable at best but it was better than nothing. ”Party favour to take home,” he says, placing it on the back of the table behind all the other liquor bottles.

Miles looked between Lilith and the table above her. Yes, another drink would be a great idea. Miles was only just starting to feel the buzz from his last drink, he had a lot of catching up to do to get to Lilith. ”How about this, I get you to a couch and grab us some drinks? Or would you rather everyone spill their drinks on you?”

Inhaling deeply through her nose, Lilith closed her eyes for a brief moment before looking at Miles once more. ”As if I could be any more of a mess,” she grumbled mostly to herself. ”That sounds fine, but uh…” Looking down at her lap, Lilith laughed as she poked her thighs. ”I can’t feel my legs right now, homie.”

Miles shakes his head, ”I got chu,” With that he slips an arm under her legs and hooks the other under her armpit. He pulls her out from the table in a somewhat ungraceful fashion to avoid knocking her head before properly scooping her up. He stumbles a couple of steps, recentring himself. Lil was light enough really but Miles wasn’t the most stable at the moment. Once Miles adjusted her in his arm and stabilized himself he carried her to the reception room adjacent to the dining hall before placing her on the couch. ”What will it be?”

Once in Miles’s arms, Lilith wrapped her own arms around his neck, holding on for dear life. The few lights that were still on in the house were a little too bright for Lilith. Burying her face into the bend of her arm and also somewhat Miles’s neck, Lilith closed her eyes again as she let Miles carry her to their final destination. Breathing in his scent, a wave of old memories and emotions came flooding back into her drunken mind, her arms wrapping around Miles ever so slightly more. She wouldn’t remember this in the morning, and hopefully he wouldn’t overthink any of it. Truth to be told, Lilith was too drunk to care anyway.

Once on the couch, Lilith propped herself up on one of the arm rests, her legs stretched out beside her.

”More tequila,” she nearly sang. ”Always… tequila.” With her last word, Lilith fell back into the couch, getting more and more comfy as the seconds passed. ”Well, what are you still standing there looking at me for,” she questioned, her accent slipping out once more. ”Hop to, Homer!”

As Lilith’s arms wrapped tighter around Miles’ neck he couldn’t help but let a small smile play on his lips as he was momentarily transported back to their high school days. As she settles on the couch his eyes fixated on her for a moment, partially out of caution that she may fall off, partially because she really did look adorable in this moment. At her question and command he shook his head, an attempt to suppress the thoughts and memories. He gives her a wink before meandering back to the drinks table. He swipes a quarter filled bottle of tequila and a half filled bottle of bourbon from the table and returns to Lilith. He held the tequila bottle out to her, ”Just promise not to smash me over the head with it, you already have your trophy for the night,”

Taking the bottle from his hands, Lilith laughed once again. ”Well, that’s up to you,” she joked. ”We match energies over here.” As she watched Miles sit down on the couch beside her, Lilith opened the bottle and took a drink. ”You sure this is tequila? Tastes like water.”

Miles takes a seat on the end of the couch. Sitting on the edge, he sits his elbows on his knees and takes a swig from his own bottle of bourbon. At Lilith’s question he gave a shrug. ”Should be, don’t put it beneath Carlisle to switch them though,”

Continuing to drink, Lilith shrugged her shoulders, crossing her legs as she turned to face Miles on the couch.

”He’s jealous, you know. Of you.” she blurted out. ”He apparently thinks he’s in…” Lilith stopped mid-sentence, searching her brain for the right word to feel the gap. ”He feels… strongly about me. And I don’t feel the same. I don’t and I never will, and it pisses him off, and now my friend is acting like a bitch, simply because he can’t what? Fuck me? I mean, COME ON!”

Miles gave a dry laugh at Lilith’s first comment ”I can’t imagine what for,” he states. Only a half-lie, Miles had always had an inkling there was some bitterness in Carlisle occasionally, although he could never exactly put his finger on why he knew Carlisle was weirdly disillusioned by his own life, often seeing anything else as better. Not that Miles really helped with his devil may care attitude to his own.

”He thinks he’s in love with you, I know,” Miles says plainly, taking another mouthful of bourbon. He stayed silent as Lilith ranted, truly like old times it seemed. He wasn’t really sure what to say, he was more of the listening type than a problem fixer. Miles just gave a sigh, had he made things worse? Maybe if he hadn’t said anything to Carlisle over the past months hyping him up, his attraction might have dwindled and Lilith would be more at ease. That wasn’t his thing to fix though. ”He asked me to talk to you, when we were out fixing the wards. I said no… I guess he just gets a bit obsessed,”

”That’s one way to put it,” Lilith sighed. ”He kept ranting on about y’alls time in college. How it was ‘his turn’ to finally get what he wanted.” Bottle of tequila pressed to her lips, Lilith took a moment to decide what to say next. She didn’t really know what to talk about with Miles anymore unless the conversation topic was about Carlisle. The thought pained her ever so slightly, but she shoved it down with everything else she had ignored in the last twelve hours.
”He seems thoroughly convinced that we’re like… together or something though. And I think that’s what pisses him off the most.”

”His turn, huh?” Miles muses, ”Gotta say, I’ve heard Carlisle say some dumb things but that one’s a first,” The pair quietly cradled their drinks in silence for a moment. It wasn’t the kind of content silence there used to be between them but instead it was awkward, uncomfortable even. As if they’d forgotten how they used to interact… or were avoiding it in fear. Lilith’s next statement brought another dry laugh to escape Miles although it stung a little. He never expected their reunion that morning would bring such a large whirlpool of emotions, even less so that some of those emotions caused him to miss her more than he realized. ”Bold claim considering we haven’t talked in 6 years,”

”Exactly my point, but he’s convinced,” she stated, shrugging her shoulders. ”Don’t know why, don’t particularly care…” Lilith trailed off as she placed the bottle of tequila upright in her lap between her legs. Anxiety now setting in, the young woman focused on her hands, starting to pick at the skin around her left thumb. ”All I know is I need my friend and now…” Taking a deep, shaking breath, Lilith felt the heat rise to her face as she fought back her emotions. ”Well, I guess he’s gone over something that’s stupid and literally doesn’t even exist.”

The thought made Lilith laugh again - except for this time it was short and cold. Taking the last swallow of her tequila, the young woman began to play with the bottle, tossing it from hand to hand as she sorted through her thoughts.

”Whole lotta bullshit,” she mumbled.

Miles remained silent as Lilith shifted through her thoughts, he wanted to offer to be that friend again, part of him wanted to challenge her on her closing statement about nothing existing but he said none. The pair remained in silence for a while before Miles finally spoke up again. ”Hey, I’m… uh.. Sorry about this morning,” in all honesty he didn’t really regret that morning but he thought it was probably the right thing to say right now. He hesitated on what he wanted to say next. Although there was a weird layer of awkwardness to it, there was something nice and nostalgic about it but the thought had been plaguing him for a long time now ”I know you’ve been avoiding me, I know mum’s been helping you with that. I guess I just wanted to see you again. It’s just… 6 years is a long time and.. I don’t know,” Miles looks to the ground, picking at the label on his bottle. ”Do you think we could put high school behind us?”

Listening while Miles spoke, Lilith continued to toss her bottle from hand to hand. The quiet clanks that it made as it softly banged against the rings on either of her hands worked to soothe her. She had a good rhythm going - right up until Miles’s question. Now completely drunk out of her mind, Lilith’s concentration broke as she watched the bottle slip from her hands and roll across the floor.

Hesitating for a moment, she bit down hard on her bottom lip to stop anything regrettable from popping out of her mouth.

”Yes and no,” she spoke slowly, pondering his question. ”If you’re scared we’re not on friendly terms or ‘sumthin, there’s nothing to worry about. This town is actually big enough for the both of us - believe it or not.” With another sigh she added: ”Now if you’re expecting things to be like they were before - no. There’s a lot of trust that I lost for you, and I’m not sure if you’ll ever be able to get it back.”

”Yeah, I guess that’s fair,” he replies softly, looking over at her. He seemed unable to draw his gaze away, no matter how much he wanted to. Was he pink from the liquor or the conversation? Even he didn’t know. He took another swig of his bottle, wishing the alcohol would do more for him at this moment. Maybe blurting out everything he was thinking would fix things? Yet there was a small part of him not inebriated enough to let things go. ”I’m not Car, I’m not gonna beg for your forgiveness or ask for my turn or anything. I’ll be surprised if I make it through grandpa John anyway,”

As the alcohol coursed its way through Lilith’s veins, she placed her head gently on Miles’s shoulder. They weren’t on any sort of terms that would have allowed her to be this close to him sober, but right now she didn’t care. ”I’m not asking you to beg for it - just prove it to me.”

At Miles’s mention of her Grandfather, Lilith felt her face grow hot for the umpteenth time tonight, her vision blurring as tears pooled in her eyes.

”Yeah, well… for what it’s worth I don’t think you’ll have to worry about him much longer.” Reaching up to wipe her face, the brunette rolled her eyes. ”He liked you until you started doing dumb shit, ya know. He really, really did.”

Miles fought the urge to kiss the top of Lil’s head as she rested it on his shoulder, instead opting to rest his on top. ”And how would you want me to do that?” he asks. Miles wasn’t really seeking an answer to jump at a chance to fall at her feet but rather was unsure what proving it looked like to Lil considering there wasn’t anything between them. What was the point of proving commitment for a friendship- or perhaps more- that didn’t exist?

”What do you mean not much longer?” He asks, unmoving from his spot. The thought that John ever liked him was boggling to Miles, he was sure the older man really hated him from the get go. Maybe it was a southern thing? ”Li- is grandpa John okay?”

Pulling her feet up onto the couch, Lilith made herself as small as she possibly could - an old coping habit she still clung onto like a child. Despite the copious amounts of alcohol in her system, she still felt her blood run cold. Crying silently, she listened to Miles question her.
”Um… no,” she responded quietly, her voice nearly a whisper. Staring at her lap, Lilith wrapped one of her arms around Miles’s so that she could toy with her hands once more. ”He has cancer,” she continued, her voice now sarcastic as she threw up another defense mechanism. ”Stage two pancreatic they said. And in his words ‘I’m too old and too stubborn to fight it.’ So… I guess he’s just dying.”

A meek ”Oh,” was all Miles could muster as the colour drained from his face. As much as John and him were often at the end he still had a large hand in raising Miles and a part of Miles had some admiration toward him. Miles pulled her in, leaving her hands free so she could continue to fiddle with them. ”I’m so sorry, Li,” He says softly, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall from his eyes also.

“It’s not your fault,” she mumbled. “It’s not his either. Just the universe putting me through another test and taking away my best friend to do it.”

As she spoke, Lilith felt Miles’s arms wrap around her. Still picking at the skin around her fingernails, there was a long moment of silence as Liliths mind raced. A dark cloud hung over the room, seeming to center itself around Lilith.

She had wanted to tell Carlisle all of this. He should have been the first to know. Instead, now it was Miles. Lilith wasn’t upset about confiding in her old friend - just that she hadn’t been able to tell Carlisle what was going on. More so that he hadn’t even cared enough to ask. Being able to lean on Miles though - now matter how briefly - was nice.

”He’s supposed to be there Miles. To teach me things and tell me how stupid my boyfriends are. He’s supposed to be there when I come home, glass of whiskey in hand and a glare on his face. He’s supposed to mend the fences because I just can’t seem to do it right. Who am I supposed to talk to now? Who’s going to be there for me? How am I supposed to run this huge ranch?” Nearly hyperventilating now, Lilith tried her hardest to catch her breath, now gripping onto Miles’s shirt sleeve.

”Hey, it’s gonna be alright,” Miles says gently, imbuing his words with the slightest bit of calming magic, not enough to get Lilith back to normal but hopefully enough to alleviate some of her anxiety. He gently massaged her head with one of his hands. Part of him wished he had answers for her, pretty par for the course but Miles was not a solutions man. ”Li… if I know your pa, I know he gave you everything you need to survive,” he says softly

Lilith knew that there was no point in arguing. While she agreed with Miles’s statement, she also couldn’t help but freak out. Sure, John had given her all the tools and shown her what to do - but would she remember it all?

It took a moment for the young woman to stop shaking, doing what she could to shake the oncoming panic attack. Lilith focused on the texture of the fabric beneath her hands, Miles’s fingers in her hair, and the sound of the music right outside the door. Breathing in and out almost steadily now, Lilith’s drunken mind was unsure of what to say next. Wiping the few final tears from her face, Lil closed her eyes as exhaustion began to creep in, somehow situating herself even closer to Miles.

”I really missed you,” she sighed. ”It’s stupid and I don’t know what to do about it, but it’s true.” Drunken words were sober thoughts, and Lilith knew that Miles understood that better than anyone else.

Lilith seemed to move ever closer to Miles, a closeness he knew she wouldn’t dare come sober but he also knew that even drunk Lilith’s actions and words were only impulses of her desires, whether willing desires or not. That was when she said the words, words that Miles was subconsciously waiting for, even if he didn’t know he wanted it until now. For some time he remained silent. With the liquor finally hitting hard, it took Miles a little longer than usual to process those words and even longer to formulate a response.

”When I was in Olympia I missed more things from Tanner than I thought I would but, honestly, there was nothin’ I missed more than you. I know it sounds cheesy and dumb and like the kind of thing people say in movies that makes you wanna barf but… I don’t know. What do we do about this?” Miles replies, finishing with a sigh. He stared at the wall on the other end of the room, unable to look at her with that confession. He supposed part of him was always quietly waiting for confessions of withheld feelings but drunken words they’d barely remember in the morning probably wasn’t the best way to go about it he figured. It was pretty on brand for them both though.

Thankful for the first time in her life that Miles wasn’t looking at her, Lilith couldn’t help but to give a small smile as she listened to his own confession. Opening her eyes, the brunette hyper fixated on a loose string connected to the hem of Miles’s jacket. Toying with it between her index finger and her thumb, she didn’t really know how to respond to Miles. She had only just now admitted that she still had feelings for him, and she definitely didn’t know what to do with them or about them. Still though, she didn’t want to leave him with a stupid answer, or worse - none at all.

”Truthfully, I dunno. I’m just trying to make it ‘til tomorrow my dude. But I know that I don’t… mind feeling this way. I thought I would, but I don’t think I do.”

Now completely hammered, Lilith was doing the best that she could to keep her eyes open. She wasn’t tired, but she had nearly put down two bottles of liquor in the course of the last few hours.

Miles smiled softly, his eyes fixating on the loose thread Lilith was playing with. He didn’t know how to respond, or more accurately he knew many ways he could but didn’t know which was the right response. He looked up at her face, her eyelids seemed to be growing heavy. Exactly how much had she had to drink. ”Hey, don’t pass out on me after that grand confession,” he coaxes, a playful smile forming on his lips. He pulls her up a little straighter. His eyes settled on her face, almost waiting for hers to meet his.

A laugh escaping her lips, Lilith apologized. ”Sorry. Gramps and I might have pregamed a little bit.” Looking back up at him to meet his gaze, a small smirk danced across her face. ”And that bottle I threw at Noodle?” Dropping her voice to a whisper, Lilith scrunched her face playfully as she spoke once more. ”I drunk that one too.”

Miles shakes his head incredulously with a chuckle. How she wasn’t straight up dead yet was beyond him. Although Miles was usually the heavier drinker of the two Lilith could always hold her liquor so much better. Her confession of feeling the same way he had had only made it harder to restrain himself, even more so with her looking up at him. With a hooked finger he gently lifts her chin toward him before leaning in and bringing his lips toward hers.

This setting was all too familiar and comfortable for Lilith. She was used to getting drunk off of her ass, and Miles having to be there. He’d fall for her adorable antics and then next thing you knew - there they were. It was almost comical how most people thought it was Miles who had had the drinking problem in their relationship.

Caught somewhere between wanting to smack Miles’s hand away in shock, and wanting to close the very short space between them, Lilith quickly decided on the latter option. Leaning into Miles, Lilith pressed her lips to his.

Immediately her body felt like a live wire, goosebumps racing up her arms. Raising an arm to position her hand behind his neck, Lilith began to play with the hair at the base of his neck before fear took over once more - causing her to pull away. Her face still inches from his own, Lilith kept her eyes locked on to Miles’s be for uttering a single ”Fuck”, the realization of what had just happened hitting her like a ton of bricks.

”I am so sorry,” she breathed, heart racing.

As Lil pressed her lips against his, a wave of nostalgia came over Miles, warm, comforting nostalgia. Oh how he missed this, the feeling of her face against his, her hand playing with his hair. His heart started to race but only moments later she pulled away. Was that apology for him or someone else? He wasn’t certain but he replied anyway. ”Don’t be,” he replies softly, ”I guess I should be the one saying sorry,”

Lilith shook her head in protest. ”You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Miles pulls back, a small smile on his face. He fought himself to hold in the words he knew Lilith probably didn’t want to hear. Hell, he didn’t even think he wanted to say them but the truth serum of the bourbon won. ”I still love you, Li. I’m sorry, part of me wishes I didn’t then we could both move on… but I do” he says gently. Part of those words felt sour after the conversations he’d had with Carlisle but he couldn’t stop himself. Part of him wanted to prove to his friend he wasn’t the guy who’d steal his crushes anymore, he knew he would have been successful if it was literally anyone else. Here history went, repeating itself once more.

Her eyes scanning every movement that Miles made, Lilith could tell that he was being genuine - even without her abilities. Wishing that she could tell him off or find dishonesty in his expression, a small part of Lilith was almost disappointed when she did neither.

She wanted to yell at him, beat her fists against his chest, and remind him of every wrong doing he had ever committed. Instead she sat there, her face ever so slightly red as she turned away from him. In no way was she actually angry at Miles - she was just confused, conflicted and mostly, well - drunk.

”What is it with you boys and that damned word,” she joked.

Miles gave a chuckle, part of him was disappointed she didn’t give some form of answer, even if that answer came in the form of a punch in the chest. All the same her reply also told him so much in itself. ”What, scared of that word or something?” he replies in jest

Still staring out the door in front of her, Lilith felt her jaw clench as her expression hardened.

”Yeah. And maybe just more than a little bit.” Trying to keep her tone lighthearted, Lilith continued to let the words fall from her lips. ”But that doesn’t change the way I still feel about you, no matter how hard I fought it.”

Miles decided to brush off Lilith’s first comment, he was not in a state to have that discussion right now. He purses his lips, holding in the goofy smile that would be spreading across his face. ”So what are we to do, hm?” he asks jovially while leaning back into the arm of the couch.

In all honesty, Lilith could have walked away from this conversation and acted like it never happened as soon as she woke up tomorrow morning. Instead, here she sat, Miles asking her what to do about whatever their relationship was once more. Her attention now shifting fully back to Miles, Lilith turned to face him again, propping herself up with her right hand as she leaned forward towards him in her drunken state.

”I’m not trying to disappoint either of us, but I don’t think I should be makin’ any calls about the future right now,” she responded. ”We could try that whole kissing thing again though?”

After Victor had dropped off Caitlin, he drove back home to eat some food and recharge. After the food he wanted to take a nap. Despite himself he wasn't one of the types that was able to sleep with alot on his mind. Between his parents still at his extended 'families' estate and the issue with the weakening barrier and werewolves with Carlisle being cursed with a lycanthropy curse. Not to mention the Covens more... spirited members returning, the Coven will be pretty unstable because of posturing. Victor pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, this wasn't good for his sleep.

Victor rolled off his bed. There was a better use of his time for now, and that was the practice his magic power's endurance and some light workouts. He noticed that a relatively fitter body increased his magic's efficiency. It didn't tire him out as much.

Victor lost track of time, he was late, not that it really mattered for a party. Well, he debated even going to the party in the first place. It was good to mingle but parties weren't exactly his thing. Too much loud noises and much too many bad decisions. He turned his car off and began walking to the Coven.

He spotted Rowan before he could make his way in. “Hey Rowan, good to see you.” He called out. He was acquainted with Rowan, even got a few tips on developing the spell 'Thundercall' from him. “You, uh, need help with that?”

In the Library: Caitlin, Daniel, and Jazrina

Jazrina had been sitting and sipping at her drink. She had been watching people come and go. It looked like only the younger coven members would be attending this party. Jaz sighed as she shifted in her chair. She had seen Delaney come in and waved at her as she made her way over to the table with the drinks. Jaz saw Cait come through the party after visiting the snacks table. She met her eyes and waved back to her with a warm smile. “Hey Cait!” She was happy to return her greeting. Jazrina had just turned to see who else had come in when she heard a commotion near her.

She didn’t have to wait long for the drama to start. Jaz couldn’t believe that the new girl would try to pick a fight on her first night at the coven house with an established member. The fight was vicious and fast. Jaz had stood up planning to intervene but as she started to try and push her way through the crowd all standing around gawking like they were all still in high school, the fight was over.

Jaz noticed all the blood. It didn’t surprise her to see the new girl in bad shape passed out against a wall. Jaz had no sympathy for her. She had sought out trouble and bit off more than she could chew. Delaney was not in much better shape. She was being taken care of by Erin and Serena. Jaz wondered where Carlisle was while this fight was going on. Carlisle came in from the balcony looking pissed with blood on his face. There was obvious tension between him and Lilith. Jaz shook her head thinking she couldn’t complain that this party was dull.

She was very disappointed with how things were going. She wanted to feel like she belonged to the coven and to make friends. She still felt like an outsider except for a few people like Caitlin. She thought this party was supposed to bring the coven together. All she saw were people fighting or ignoring others as they sought oblivion at the bottom of a glass. Jaz went into the kitchen and poured her glass down the drain. She rinsed the cup and drank a full glass of water before throwing the cup away.

Maybe she needed to find a quieter spot than trying to meet people next to where the snacks were. That hadn’t been her brightest idea. She thought it was a great place to mingle as a lot of people would go through there. She had already witnessed one fight and the aftermath of whatever had happened to Carlisle. Anger seemed to be the prevailing emotion in the area from the looks on the faces she had just left behind. She decided to make her way to the library. The coven library was supposed to be one of the best repositories on magic in the state. Maybe she could find a book to help her learn more about her powers.

Jazrina walked down the corridor till she found the heavy carved wooden doors to the library. The space had antique wooden tables set up with chairs for studying. A few more comfortable arm chairs were spread around the space for solitary reading. Shelves lined with books, some of them fragile with age. The air in the library seemed to smell of dust and furniture polish. It made her sneeze. She pulled a tissue from a box on the entry table and wiped her nose in a ladylike manner. She threw the tissue in the trash can and began to look around. The lights were already on so maybe someone else was here. At least it was quieter. She could still hear the music and feel the beat pulsing from the main room but it was a dull roar now.

After another near-traumatizing car ride with Miles and Carlisle, Daniel waved goodbye to everyone as he headed home to rest up before the party. Daniel didn’t have many clothes intended to look nice, so after he shower he just put on the same button down and jeans he had on earlier. His wardrobe was meant to be functional, not fashionable.

Checking his watch Daniel saw there was plenty of time before the party. At that moment a thought occurred to him, the drinks were probably just going to be spirits and mixers. Daniel could deal with that but there were things he’d rather drink if he was going to be getting drunk. So he hopped in the car and drove over to the liquor store to grab his supplies. The drive was pretty short, Tanner wasn’t exactly a huge town. But Daniel put on a podcast which he continued to listen to while he shopped. The hosts were talking about something they dubbed “The Yuba Incident,” and despite them being goofballs the topic was pretty interesting.

When Danny was done his shopping he had a couple 4 packs of vodka mudshakes (chocolate, obviously), a 24 case of Twisted Tea in 4 different flavors, and a bottle of absinthe to take shots with anyone who was brave enough to try it with him. Daniel didn’t drink often but when he did he had two rules. 1) Make it taste good, and 2) Go hard. No point in drinking all those empty calories if you weren’t going to at least get drunk. Satisfied with his haul, Daniel went home, set up his drinks on the kitchen table in a neat four by eight grid, with the absinthe on the end, and proceeded to watch some anime until it was time to head back to the coven house.

The time came and Daniel walked over, not wanting to worry about his car at the end of the night when he would inevitably be too drunk to drive. He walked in the house and gave some polite nods to people who happened to look his way. Checking out the refreshments table it was exactly as he thought, basically just spirits and mixers. With a wave of his hand Danny conjured the first of his mudshakes from his kitchen table back home to his hand. This specific spell was basically second nature to him at this point and hardly used any energy.

Daniel parked himself against a wall and observed the party as he drank his mudshake. He wasn’t even sure why he came, well that was a lie, he came because his mysterious contact told him to keep on eye on Carlisle, who was currently outside. If it wasn’t for that he probably would have stayed home, the party scene was never his thing. Delaney had dragged him along sometimes before he left for school, but it always took convincing. Speaking of Delaney, Danny noticed her across the room, and the new girl who arrived with Kolby.

Aaand they were fighting. Daniel did not want to deal with this, ”not my circus not my monkeys,” he muttered to himself as he swiftly left the room in search of somewhere more peaceful. He found himself in the coven library, the lights were off so he guessed no one else was around. He switched them on and wandered around a bit. The music could still be heard but it was very muted, Daniel thought it sounded a lot better this way. Maybe while he was here he could find a book to help him with his shadow clone jutsu (although he’d never tell anyone that’s how he thinks of it).

He checked the aisles and eventually found a book that looked promising. As he pulled it out he heard a sneeze from the library entrance. Heading back over there he saw a girl in the entryway. ”Hey, uh, Jazrina, right? Not sure if you remember me from school, I’m Daniel.” He put the book down on one of the tables and finished his drink, dismissing the empty bottle back to his house and conjuring the next in line. He noticed Jazrina didn’t seem to have a drink, ”you want one?” He held out the bottle he had just conjured towards her.

The dust had cleared in the wake of the brawl, and Cait had re-centered herself. She stumbled a bit under the combined assault of both the alcohol and THC, but caught herself before falling altogether. She took a peek over her shoulder into the dining room; the party was still going strong. Lilith, still seeming intoxicated, had returned from the veranda, fumbling around by the snacks and drinks. Nope. Not a good idea. So much as Cait loved a good house party, the arguing and fighting was a push too far for her.

She started thinking of a quiet area of the house to retreat to. The basement usually would have worked, but after the explosion from before, it was better off not being a hangout spot. She thought of just going back up into her little boarding room, but if she was going to do that, she might as well just skip out on the party for the night; can't have that.

That was when she noticed Jaz passing through. Figuring to catch up more thoroughly with her, Cait decided to follow her down the corridor. The trek ended with Jaz entering the library. Thinking it was as good a place as any, Cait followed suit not too far behind. She entered, closing the door shut behind her, and drifted, glassy-eyed in Jaz's wake. "Bless you, she said, after Jaz sneezed. Then she jumped at the sound of another voice from nearby.

Cait poked her head around and stood next to Jazrina so as not to stay hidden. She gave the young man that had just come out a quick wave.

Jazrina had stepped further into the library after throwing the tissue away. She was looking around trying to decide where to start her search when she heard footsteps coming her way. She jumped as she heard Cait’s voice from behind her. “Bless You”. Jazrina had just turned to greet her friend with a smile and a small wave before turning towards where she had heard the footsteps, curious about who else had come to the library.

She smiled warmly at Daniel as he appeared coming towards her. Jaz felt Cait move up next to her. Jazrina was trying not to gape as Daniel strode towards her. She couldn’t help but admire the easy way he moved and the interplay of muscles accented by his movement. She had a crush on him in high school. She thought he was very attractive. He had only improved since high school. He obviously still worked out and kept himself in shape. She tried not to let self doubts and the insecurities learned from other people taint her conversation with Daniel. Her experience with dating was bad. She had trust issues. They were well earned but it made it hard to open up to others or to not let those bad experiences color her expectations from someone new.

Jazrina was stuck in her head as she was telling herself to be kind and play it cool. He was being nice. Her smile got bigger and her eyes widened as he introduced himself. She couldn’t help thinking, He remembers me! Cait’s movement next to her gratefully pulled her out of it.

She was probably grinning like a crazy loon. She cleared her throat before responding. “I do remember you from school Daniel. I believe you were in the class behind me.” Inwardly she cringed. Great remind him that you are a year older than he is. She rambled a little bit nervous about what he might think of her. “Thank you for the offer but I think I will pass. I had to get out of the mainroom. I think I am done drinking for the night.I was never one for scenes like those.” She scrunched up her nose in distaste. She waved a hand towards Cait. “Have you met Cait yet?”

Dan was glad to see Jazrina smile at him, she seemed to be having a good time, despite her comments about her experience with the party thus far. ”Ya, between the fight and the general inability to hear it’s not really my scene either. But I figured it would be rude not to come after Carlisle set it all up.” Daniel uncapped his drink and downed about half of it as Jazrina introduced Cait.

”You know, I don’t think I have, good to meet you Cait, I’m Daniel.” He was about to offer her a drink as well but she looked really out of it. She had definitely had her fair share of alcohol and possibly other substances already. Which was impressive if nothing else, considering the party had basically just started. ”You doing alright Cait? You seem….” Daniel wasn’t exactly sure what adjective to use to describe how she seemed. Daniel shook his head, ”Never mind, enjoying the party?” If her mental state was anything to go by she was probably having a great time.

Not finding her words immediately, Cait returned Daniel's greeting with a bro nod. "M-me?" She responded to the question of her state with a slight hiccup. "Yeah. I'm straight; I mean not like… I'm all up for parties. But that shit got too Jersey Shore for my taste, ya'know?" She fell silent, and began shifting her head, looking around the library. "I never spent much time in here before I left," she resumed, shifting the conversation away from the party. She gestured broadly at the library.

Jazrina took a deep breath mentally telling herself to snap out of it. She looked closer at Cait as she heard Daniel ask her if she was all right. Cait did look a little out of it. She shook her head and chuckled as she heard Cait hiccup. Cait had always been somewhat of a wild child. It was no surprise to Jaz that she had already been in the alcohol and whatever else was passing around this party. She laughed at her description of the fight. Jaz snort chuckled at her Jersey Shore comment. Jaz thought to herself more like a wrestling smackdown extravaganza on pay per view.

She didn’t really want to talk about the fight either. It had made her uncomfortable and simply highlighted the challenges faced by the coven. It didn’t really matter who took over the coven, they had their work cut out for them. This party had shown just how divided and immature the younger coven members were about their responsibilities. That was why Jaz had left that part of the house to begin with. She smiled at Daniel once more. At least the evening was looking up.

“I have heard of the library before. This is the first time I have been here too. I thought maybe I could find some books that would help me train my powers better. My parents did most of my training but they are not as powerful as I am.” She shrugged as it was a simple truth. “I can’t help feeling like there is more I can learn if I trained the right way or knew it was possible. I have never really taken the time to explore my abilities fully.”

Jazrina let her eyes linger on Daniel as she gave him a sultry smile. “I would say my evening is looking up. What are you doing here Daniel?” Jaz waved a hand around to indicate the library. Jaz was trying out her weak flirting skills. She prayed that she was coming across as interested and alluring, not desperate and crazy. She hoped Cait would make a good wing person.

Was Jazrina…looking at him? Obviously she’d look at him to talk, but was she looking in a way that was implying something? Daniel was never good at picking up hints from people, especially girls trying to imply they were interested. Besides, Daniel didn’t really consider himself boyfriend material. He was fit, which some girls appreciated, but he’d never been able to hold down a relationship for long.

He had another swig of his drink, which was quite easy considering it was basically a booze milkshake, and answered her question. ”Well a library seemed like a great place to get away from all the craziness out there,” he grabbed the book he pulled off the shelf before the girls arrived before continuing. ”My magic style is basically all self taught, Conjuration doesn’t seem to be very prevalent in these parts. So any time I can’t just figure out what it is I need to do I come here. Right now I’m working on conjuring a shadow copy of myself that can act independently from me. Right now it can either copy my moves exactly or just wander around aimlessly.”

Daniel realized he was going on way too much and they probably didn’t care. He coughed awkwardly and finished his drink, dismissing the bottle back to his house with a small flourish so he didn’t have to keep holding it. ”Anyway, I could always help you with training Jaz, if you wanted. My long term goal is to be a teacher so I like to think I’m kind of okay at it.” He gave her a smile then realized he shortened her name, that may come off as a bit too friendly, he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. ”Is it okay if I call you Jaz?”

Jazrina’s eyes lit up with interest as Daniel explained why he was in the library. She was really impressed that he had taught himself. She was impressed as he casually demonstrated his power by sending the bottle away. Daniel called her Jaz which was her nickname that most of her friends and family called her. Hearing him call her by the more intimate name felt good as warmth slid through her at hearing it. Jaz reached and took his hand briefly giving it a reassuring squeeze. “Jaz is what all my friends and family call me. Of course you can call me Jaz. I hope we will be at least friends.” She gave him a bright smile hoping her comment was to the point.

Daniel was one of the first coven members that she had met that talked about how they learned to control their powers. Jaz had been diligent about what she had learned but her teachers who had been her parents were so much weaker than she was. She had learned all they had to teach her years ago. She had not really focused on trying to learn about her magic while she was away at college.

The one thing she had to keep up with was her yoga and meditation. Being off balance could cause her elemental magic to manifest on its own in some truly embarrassing ways. For her college had been about self care and coming to terms with herself. It had been her journey of self discovery and settling into the type of person she wanted to be. Jaz bit her bottom lip as Daniel demonstrated his power once more by sending the bottle away.

She had never really discussed with any of the younger members how magic worked for her. She had never really had the opportunity or felt like she could. Jaz appreciated that Daniel seemed laid back and easy going. She felt he was being genuinely himself with her. “That’s really interesting. I didn’t know anyone else had challenges using their magic. My magic is all based on Invocation and Enchantment. My strongest skills are in working with the elements. Working with the elements came naturally to me.”

She demonstrated by holding out a hand and pulling water from the air to form a small ball of water over the palm of her hand. She made the ball of water bounce a few times in her hand before tossing it up in the air to disperse it as a mist. “I have found that if I feel out of balance such as being emotionally upset. It makes my elemental powers harder to control. I have a daily routine of yoga and meditation that helps me control my powers better.”

Jazrina shrugged as she learned towards Daniel once more. “I never thought of working to actively train my powers by trying new things. My parents had been all about controlling what came naturally to me. Maybe I can find some books that will talk about how invocation and enchantment manifest for others and try them?”

Jaz turned to Cait. She was feeling bad thinking she was excluding her friend from the conversation. “What about you Cait? Do you have quirks with your magic? How have you trained so far?” Her eyes flashed back towards Daniel briefly before focusing her attention on Cait.

"Huh?" Cait turned around. She had been perusing a nearby bookshelf in a curiosity that she was surprised by herself. She hadn't spoken about her magic with anyone in a while; not since she told her parents and the council that she was happy with what she had learned before college. "Well they said I have a form of Transmutation. she pulled out a nearby chair and flopped down into it. "It's more like Telekinesis. Like, moving shit with my mind. I can levitate a bit too. Then there was a time I had to spar with the others; I ended up throwing a blast of… well I'm not sure what it was… it hit the wall though; punched right through the plaster. That's…

She pulled the joint and light from her pocket. "Please don't tell anyone, she said, looking at Daniel and Jaz. If Carlisle or the council knew she was lighting up in the library they'd probably throw a fit. She lit up, took her hit, exhaling away from the other two, and quickly stuffed out the end and crammed the joint and lighter back into her pocket.

"That's when I decided 'no more.' That's where I drew the line. Coulda broken someone's nose. Nah. I didn’t want it. Not like that. If i had kept going," she shrugged, cutting herself off. "I've just been keeping up with the basics since. Stuff that helps me. Stuff I can do without really doing anything."

Jaz took his hand and smiled, confirming the nickname was perfectly fine. ”Great, I’d love to spend some more time together.” Daniel was glad Jaz was so friendly, she was also kinda cute, but he wasn’t exactly looking for a relationship. Just being friends and reestablishing himself in Tanner was fine for him at the moment.

Daniel listened as Jaz explained her abilities and experience with her magic. Invocation type magic was a lot more flashy than his comparatively simple style. He used to be jealous of others who had flashier spells, but now Dan has grown in to his magic and found a style that worked for him.

Next it was Cait’s turn to talk about her magic. She didn’t seem to care much about it. Daniel could relate to that, he wasn’t all that in to magic when he was younger. It almost felt like cheating in a way, like he had an unfair advantage if he ever used it. That’s why he wanted to be strong, so he could protect people without magic. Obviously that changed, and also it seemed Cait’s distaste of magic stemmed from a mix a trauma and laziness.

”I won’t tell anyone about the weed,” Daniel assured her, “but do you really not want to learn to control whatever that blast was? If it were me I’d be concerned about accidentally unleashing that power unintentionally. My offer to help Jaz with training also extends to you. To me it sounds like your powers were more than you could handle and you just decided you’re better off without them. He faced towards Jaz and continued, ”and Jaz, it sounds like you’ve mostly trained very formally without much experimentation. If you like that then more power to you, but personally I find experimenting and maybe even making some mistakes is the best way to learn.”

Daniel stopped, then realized how he sounded and rubbed the back of his neck with an awkward laugh, ”heh, sorry about that, kind of went in to teacher mode there. Didn’t mean to lecture either of you, I get a bit passionate about things sometimes. Daniel summoned another drink for himself, a can of twisted tea raspberry. He wasn’t sure if the drinking was making his passionate nature better or worse. But he did know he bought all those drinks to get drunk, and he wasn’t there yet.

Jazrina tilted her head to one side as she listened to Cait and Daniel. A look of concern came over her face as Cait shared her story. “I have to agree with Daniel. It sounds like your powers scare you. I understand why. Mine can be scary if I don’t control them. If I don’t use them they tend to manifest on their own. I didn’t really have a choice about learning the basics.”

She looked thoughtful for a moment as her eyes met Daniel’s. “I think there is some truth to what you think Daniel. I feel like I have just scraped the surface. I have the basics down but I have never really pushed anything outside of what I already know how to do.” She shook her head and gave them a rueful smile. “It sounds like we all have things we could work on. Maybe we can help one another? Would there be anything we could do to help you train Daniel?”

She turned to face Cait once more, a serious expression on her face. “Cait, why don’t we all train together. Maybe we can help you feel safe while you learn the extent of your powers and how to control them? I put up elemental shields around things. Maybe together we can all train more safely. Would that help you feel better about your powers?” Jaz waited to hear what they thought.

Perhaps it was because of the high, but Caitlin found herself hanging onto Daniel’s words. At the moment it was hard to wade through, and whether she wanted to take him up on his offer was up in the air; with Jaz echoing Daniel’s sentiments, the idea started to seem easier though. When all was said and done though. “I supposed it couldn’t hurt,” she said, kicking up out of her seat. “I just… I’m not sure there’s much point in working to control an ability I don’t plan on using. But I guess… if it'll help with things. She looked towards the door into the corridor. ”You think things have settled any out there? Wouldn’t be much of party if we weren’t there to live it up.

She stopped and looked at Daniel as she started to make her way out. ”Any chance you could magic me up a beer? I spilled my drink when the cats started fighting.”

”Sometimes training can just be for your own sake, even if you don’t plan on using it, Daniel said somewhat sagely, ”I don’t plan on fighting anyone but I still know how to defend myself.” Danny down the rest of his drink and dismissed the can as Cait brought up things probably having settled down in the main room, then she asked him for a beer.

”Unfortunately I can’t make beer, I can only conjure the drinks I left at home,” with a wave of his hands he summoned two of each of the types of twisted tea; regular, half and half with lemonade, raspberry, and peach, along with a couple mudshakes.

”This is all I’ve got for options, but take your pick, he turn to Jaz, ”you can have one too if you’ve changed your mind.” Daniel conjured a peach twisted tea to his hand then dismissed all the drink the girls didn’t take.”Oh right, before we go back we should exchange contact info, Daniel took out his phone as he said it, ”we can figure out a good time to get together for training. Or, y’know, anything else,” he eyes Jaz as he said that last part. This was his bit of hope and suspicion that maybe Jaz was being really friendly for reasons other than her just being a nice person.

”Well with that done I say we’re good to head back,” as they headed back Daniel had to steady himself a bit, using the wall for support at times. ”Ya I should really eat something, drinking on an empty stomach is probably not the best idea.”

Jazrina couldn’t help but feel like training or talking about her powers was uncomfortable for Cait. She knew Cait well enough to let it go. She smiled as Cait asked if we thought it had calmed down out there. Jaz shook her head before answering. “Well I certainly hope so. The only way to find out is to go check. And you're right, it's supposed to be a party.”
Jaz had been very discouraged by the party when she had arrived. The people who were supposed to be their new leaders so far had only presented themselves to her in a bad light. In their defense, she had been late and had missed the meeting. She was disappointed that the vibe of the party came across as a frat house party. Every frat house party she had been to, seemed geared towards getting people drunk or hooking up. It was not what she would have expected for a Coven House party. She couldn’t help but think that she wouldn’t mind hooking up with Daniel. She felt her cheeks color slightly at the thought.

Her eyes trailed over Daniel’s fit form as he was offering them a drink. She was distracted by her own attraction to Daniel. Cait’s voice asking him to conjure her a beer helped bring her out of her inner thoughts. Jazrina let Cait choose her poison first. She looked over the choices in Daniel’s hands that were left. She met Daniel’s eyes with a grin as her hand caressed over his as she took possession of a Spiked Peach Tea. “Thank you for having something a little lighter than was on offer at the party. These are some of my favorites.”

Jaz released his hand as she took the drink. She brushed her hair behind her ear as Daniel suggested they trade phone numbers. Her face lit up at his comment. She hastily pulled her phone out as they all shared numbers with each other. They all left to go back towards the party. Cait and Daniel both seemed a little buzzed already. She laughed at Daniel’s comment about needing to eat some food. “Did they have any food other than chips? I think that was all I saw on the table.” She would lend a supporting arm to whichever companion needed it to keep from falling to the floor. Jaz was amused as she had gone to the library to escape the party and now she was excited to see where it would lead.

Rowan knew that the Coven meeting this morning was ‘mandatory’, but he had bailed anyway. Problems at his family’s company had kept him away from the Heart of Tanner this morning, but he fully intended to venture there tonight.

The young man had heard about the party from one of his closest friends - Lilith. The messages between them were more of Rowan comforting Lilith than her inviting him. Still though, he knew that the Coven party was open to any and all witches or warlocks. Rather Carlisle decided to try and scold him or not when he decided to arrive, only time would tell.

As the sun set over the horizon, Rowan showered off the rest of his day before getting dressed. He took his time getting ready - knowing that punctuality wasn’t a concern for events like these. The young man would deny the fact that he was trying to impress any woman - even if that woman was Delaney. Mostly because Delaney scared him. Or at least his feelings for her did.

Emotions were weird.

As he placed the last of the rings on his fingers, Rowan grabbed his leather jacket from the coat rack beside the door and grabbed his keys. Hearing the familiar sounds of paws running across hardwood floors, Rowan turned around to be met by his dog - Sassy - jumping up and doing her best to lick him in the face. There was no point in arguing with the big baby, since she knew she went everywhere with her father and was rarely ever denied anything in life.

Walking out into the front yard, Rowan made sure that the house was locked up before grabbing his grill and charcoal and placing them in the bed of his truck. Once Sassy had hopped inside and took her respective place beside him on the bucket seat, the pair made their way to the Coven House.

Upon arriving, Rowan was pleased to see that the party was already in full swing. He hated showing up early to heavy social events and having to force the small talk that came with it.

As he grabbed his supplies from the back of the truck, Rowan began his journey up the hill and into the backyard of the Coven House before turning around at the sound of a familiar voice.

Greeted with the sight of Victor, a small smile appeared across his face before responding cheerfully: ”Hey man! Long time no see.” Resituating the bag of charcoal on his right shoulder, Rowan nodded his head towards the truck. ”Mind grabbing that case of Guinness from the bed? I highly doubt Carlisle supplied anything with actual flavor.”

Location: Coven Household

Time: 8PM

Carlisle had been laying on the veranda longer than he perhaps would like to have admitted, Mostly thanks to concussion he had endured. Lilith knew how to throw, and the accuracy of her shot was scary. He could feel blood and glass mixing at the back of his head, as well as blood oozing from his once more shattered nose.

”If I had a nickel for every broken nose I had today, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice” Carlisle muttered to himself as he stumbled back up onto his feet. It took him a few good moments to get his bearings. He felt like shit. Both physically and mentally. Carlisle took the time to try and stabilise himself but ended up staggering forward, grabbing onto the railing for support. His body clearly wasn’t ready for this. With a deep breath, Carlisle guided himself across the railing and towards the garden, making sure to avoid people as best he could.

After taking the slow and deliberate movements required for Carlisle to stay standing, He had found himself over at the benches at the end of the veranda. Taking a moment to sit himself down on one of them, Carlisle could finally take a moment to go over everything that had just happened. ”Fuck… I went and fucked that one up royally. Well done Carlisle, literally just told your only friend to fuck off”. He let out a heavy sigh, blood finally reaching past his lips and now dripping off his chin. He really should do something about that. But at the same time he felt like he deserved this. This was his punishment. To take a healie would be too easy a way out. There was no consequence.

Had he been too hasty? He had assumed that Miles was the threat to him and that nothing was his fault. But maybe it was. Miles hadn’t done anything to Lilith, and yet here Carlilse was blaming him for taking the one good thing he had in his life. He wasn’t too far off though he believed. Miles had taken girl after girl from him. So in his mind, this was justifiable paranoia. He had become so overprotective of the things close to him. Scared of losing them and proving his mother right. Was it selfish to protect what you loved? Maybe it was. He didn’t think he was being possessive, even if others might have seen it that way.

A long drawn out sigh once more escaped his lips. What was he to do? Could he even recover from this? Feelings of shame and sadness began to overwhelm him, streams of tears began to fall from his eyes, mixing with the blood on his lowerface. Whimpers escaped his lips in between breaths. The realisation of what he had been saying to Lilith was finally setting in. His heart rate elevated, as his breaths and whimpers sped up. Whimpers began to turn to wails as he lost control of his composure entirely.

”God I give up, I wish I could just disappear”

It was at that moment he felt his body and soul give up and surrender. His body began to feel heavy and stiff. He felt his body undergo a slow but painless nonetheless rigour mortis as his muscles froze in their place. All the while, he could feel his soul and presence drain from his body. The darkness began to claw at the edges of his vision, slowly seeping into the centre. After a few more extra moments, Carlisle completely froze, his eyes permanently locked in a sad expression, the last of the tears falling from his eyes.

If anyone was outside and hadn't seen Carlisle freeze, they would be treated to a different sight. With Carlisle now passing on, he wasn't there to maintain his connection to the Tanner Barrier. The lovely blue dome of energy that normally was invisible unless close, suddenly became very visible, at least to those who knew magic. From all angles the barrier itself began to fade away, leaving nothing but the starry sky in its wake. For the first time in a very long time, Tanner was no longer protected from the outside world.

Daniel Cooper and Aurora Newman
Location: Tanner Covenhouse ~ Garden

Daniel waved goodbye to Jaz and Cait for now and found his way to the snack table. Pickings were a bit slim, mostly junk food, but luckily they had Daniel’s favourite flavour of chip. He grabbed the fresh bag of sour cream and onion chips, opened them, and had several handfuls. He then proceeded to conjure his absinthe from home and a shot glass. He took a shot, used his twisted tea as a chaser, and exhaled harshly, ”hoo boy, that’s what I needed. His speech was slightly slurred and he felt a bit tipsy on his feet, a sure sign he was about where he wanted to be.
He looked over to the veranda where he knew Carlisle was earlier, but it seemed he had moved, damn. Now Daniel would have to go find him so he could monitor his condition. He briefly considered telling his mysterious friend to shove it but decided against it. That was probably the alcohol talking, and they also made it seem like people he cared about could be in trouble. Daniel just wanted people to stay safe, so he would keep doing this mission as long as he needed to.

Meanwhile, Aurora tried not to be amused by the conversation between the Pearson Siblings. As expected, Tristan was overreacting over his sister’s choice of clothing. Putting her hands up when he turned in her direction. “Staying out of this one.” She shook her head. Refusing to be sucked in their little debate. Excusing herself from her little group. Aurora went to refill her own drink when she saw Daniel stumbling around the room towards the snack table.

It wasn’t like him to be so drunk. He usually knew how to handle his drinks well. But today? It seemed like he indulged in more than he should have. Making her way over to him, so she could check up on him and his state of drunkenness. “Woah steady on.” Managing to catch his arm before he toppled over by the snack’s table. “How much did you have to drink?” Her brow furrowing with concern.

”Oh hey Rora,” Daniel said as Aurora helped steady him, asking how much he’s had to drink. ”Oh, y’know, a bit,” at this point he had somewhat lost count, but he knew he still had plenty left at home. ”You want some? The absinthe isn’t for everyone, but I’ve got plenty of these,” he indicated the twisted tea in his hand.

“Hi.” Aurora greeted him back, whilst making sure that he was steady on his feet, she shook her head in amusement at his answer. “I thought you didn’t drink so much?” At the mention of Absinthe, she made a slight face. Shaking her head. “No thanks, I am good. It’s never been my drink. How did you get it anyways? I don’t remember there being any Absinthe bottles at the drinks table.” A slight moment of confusion was visible across the blonde’s face. Who knows, maybe with the events going on at this party, she might need something stronger later in the night. But for now, she didn’t feel like indulging in something so strong.

”Suit yourself,” Daniel said, not in a dismissive way, but in a very accepting way. ”As for my drinking, I’ve been trying a new way of thinking. Everything in moderation, including moderation. So I figured tonight would be my night of going a bit overboard.” He finished the twisted tea and hiccuped, putting it next to the absinthe. Excuse me, but now I think I’m good, at least for now.”
She asked where the absinthe came from and he realized she probably didn’t know exactly what his powers were. Well now he could be a bit of a dork and have some fun. ”Allow me to show you where it came from, by making it disappear before your very eyes,” Daniel was speaking in his best showman voice, which when factoring in the slurred speech, wasn’t very good. ”First, this bottle before you is very real, please, touch it,” he held out the bottle for Aurora to feel before he took it back. ”Now observe,” fortunately the tablecloth was long enough to go over the bottle without needing to be removed, ”One….two….three!” On three Daniel dismissed the bottle back home and slammed his hand down where it was, making it seem like he would break the bottle but it was safely away from here. ”Ta-da,” Daniel was about to bow but thought that might be a bad idea, so instead did a little curtsy.

Aurora listened to his explanation. She couldn’t deny him letting loose, everyone deserves to let loose once in a while. “Fair enough, I suppose. Everyone has different ways of letting loose.” She just could hope he didn’t intend on getting into a fist fight anytime soon, as that’d be unlike him. Aurora was silently hoping that no more fights would be heard or seen tonight. One was enough for the evening.

Watching Daniel as he wanted to show her something. “Show away, Magician Daniel.” Jesting playfully. As he held the bottle for her to feel, she reached out letting her fingers wrap around it for a few moments. Indeed, it was a solid bottle. Her hand then dropped down to her side; watching him carefully. Aurora’s eyes filled with curiosity as he slammed his hand down against the table where the bottle was supposedly laying…but it was no longer there. A smile on her face as she gave him a little clap. “Well, what a neat trick.” It was the first glimpse she got of his powers. Figuring he had conjured the bottle out of thin air, so to speak. As he curtsied, she smiled. “Think you might need a bigger audience.” It was probably more of a lighter event of the evening; witnessing the little trick with his powers.

Daniel laughed at his little show, ”ya, it’s one of my signature moves. Not exactly flashy, but I’m not exactly a flashy kind of guy.” Her comment about an audience reminded him of other people at the party, ”oh right, have you seen Carlisle anywhere?” Hopefully he was still fine, Daniel grabbed the chips he opened and started snacking on them to appear nonchalant. He angled it towards Aurora with an inquisitive look, asking if she wanted any without talking since his mouth was full.

“Nothing wrong with that.” Flashy wasn’t always exactly the best. Unless people liked flashy. As he asked about Carlisle, she shook her head. “Not for a while no. The last I saw of him, he was out on the Veranda.” Aurora hadn’t seen him much at the party. Maybe he was hiding away from the chaos? As he offered her some of the crisps, she reached in to grab a few herself with a thanking gesture. “I can help you look for him, if you need? Besides, I could use some fresh air.” With that, Aurora took a munch of the crisps she had in her hand. Not sure what he needed to talk to Carlisle for, but there was no harm in her helping him look right? They might find him faster that way.

”Ya, some air would probably do me some good too,” Daniel vanished the can he left on the table and headed outside, chip bag still in hand. He snacked as he walked and made some small talk with Aurora. ”So what have you been up to lately? It’s been a while since we’ve talked.” He was sure the fresh air would help sober him up, but for the moment he was still a bit shaky on his feet.

The inside of the coven house was feeling a bit stuffy. Following his lead, Aurora took another bite of the crisps from the palm of her hand. “Work’s kept me busy, lots to look over for the publishing house.” Aurora said with a light shrug. “It’s not as boring as it sounds, until my brain decides it can’t think of anything creative for feedback on the last chapters.” It always frustrated her, when she had a mind block like that when it came to her work outside of the coven.
As they got to the Veranda, Aurora didn’t see Carlisle anywhere. But her feet did step on something. Hearing a slight crunch. Looking down to see a broken glass shard, with a few drops of blood. What on earth had he gotten himself into now? That boy was always getting into some trouble. But Aurora didn’t recall hearing anything going out on the Veranda earlier; not over the sound of Hayden and Delaney fighting inside. “Mhh, he must have sneaked off past everyone.” Aurora mused. Luckily there were stairs from the Veranda leading down to the garden. The air was crisp. It was refreshing. Breathing in the fresh air. “What about you? What have you been up to?” The pair not having seen much of each other, besides Coven matters. As they walked, she tried to make sure that he wasn’t too wobbly on his feet. Not wanting him to injure himself, since he was on the drunker side than she was. Looking up to admire the night sky, Aurora caught a glimpse of the last of the blue magical barrier fading away. “Did you just see that?” Aurora questioned, sounding worried. What the hell was that?

”See, that’s a job I’d never be able to do,” Daniel commented, ”I’m not nearly creative enough.” They got to the veranda and Aurora pointed out the broken glass and blood. ”Carlisle is not having a good day, I hope he’s okay.” They headed down the stairs slowly, which Daniel appreciated Aurora for, and she asked him what he’d been up to. It was only fair since he had asked her fist. ”I went to school for kinesiology, got my degree,” Daniel told her, ”once things settle down around here I’m thinking of going back to school for teaching and becoming a physical education teacher.”
As Daniel was looking out for Carlisle he noticed the barrier was visible on the horizon, and it slowly faded away. He was about to ask Aurora about it when she asked him first, ”I did, and I don’t have a good feeling about it. Come on, Carlisle’s in charge of the barrier now, maybe he knows what’s up.”
Daniel moved as quickly as he could manage, which given his current state was not very fast. Damn it, why did I have to go and drink so much, Daniel scolded himself as they approached the garden benches. He thought he saw someone sitting on a bench, it looked like Carlisle, ”I think that’s him,” Daniel said to Aurora before calling out, ”Hey, Carlisle, do you know what’s going on with the barrier?” They got close and he noticed Carlisle wasn’t moving, oh no, Dan couldn’t stop himself from vocalizing his thoughts. He touched Carlisle’s shoulder and it was cold and hard, like a statue, ”no no no no no nonono,” Daniel recoiled from Carlisle, the text from earlier coming back to his mind, The final stage is about to begin. Was this the final stage? He couldn’t believe it, he stumbled back but not from being drunk, nothing sobered you up faster than finding a dead friend.

Aurora knew that working as an editor for a publishing company wasn’t for everyone. But she had always been a bookworm and loved literature; so the job had been right up her alley. “It’s certainly not for everyone, I agree. But it is rewarding.” Like any job it had its pros and cons. One thing was for certain, it wasn’t Carlisle’s day indeed. “He’s having his fair share of bad luck today, for sure.” Aurora sighed. Her worry equal to Daniel’s. She might not have been the closest to Carlisle, but she still cared about him. He was family after all, since they were a part of the same coven. As Daniel told her what he himself had been up to, Aurora looked intrigued. “That’s an interesting job.” It seemed like he was one of the few returning one’s with a new degree. “I don’t think I could wrap my head around your degree.”
The fact that they both had seen the barrier failing, gave her a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. They had been at the barrier earlier today. It had been fixed. What made it fail so suddenly? “Let’s hope he does.” If the barrier was down, who knows what sort of outside dangers the coven could be exposed to.
It didn’t take them long to find where Carlisle was sitting. As she came close enough, a scream of horror escaped her. Her eyes wide. It was a sight that would shock anyone; even someone as calm and composed as Aurora herself. “Oh god…… Oh god…..” She felt like she couldn’t breathe from the shock. Feeling her stomach twisting and flipping inside. Putting her hands over her face, she trembled at the sight of Carlisle’s stiff, bloody and wide-open eyed; seemingly dead body.
“This can’t be happening.” Aurora muttered to herself, shocked. They couldn’t be a leader, could they? No, it seemed like it was a nightmare. He had been fine, earlier on today when she had seen him. How was this possible? A slight voice in the back of her head nagging at her, that she hadn’t done research into his Lycan curse. If she did, maybe he could have been spared?
“I…what do we do?” Aurora asked, looking at equally shocked Daniel. “We can’t just leave him..” It felt too cruel to leave him like this. As her stomach kept churning, she groaned. “I think I am going to be sick.” Clearly panicked, she felt like her alcohol contents would make their way back up’ especially at the sight in front of her.

While Aurora was looking at Carlisle’s body Daniel took out his phone, he had questions, not like they’d be answered but he needed to vent a bit of frustration. What the fuck happened to Carlisle? Is this your doing? He got a reply back almost instantly, Perhaps you should not be around in a moment, hate for you to be caught in the crossfire.
What crossfire you son of a bitch? But there was no reply, and Daniel knew it. He also knew at this point that he had been duped. Whoever was on the other end of the line had known how to manipulate him. They knew Daniel wanted to keep people safe, and would do anything for that end. And now because of his nature, Daniel had been the reason someone he cared for died yet again. He looked at Aurora, ”you’re right, we can’t just leave him. We should call someone, I just don’t know who…” That was partly an excuse to her as to why his phone was out, but it was also true they couldn’t just leave his body there.
Daniel started pacing, trying to come up with someone to get in contact with, then it came to him. ”Lilith. Maybe she’ll know what to do. She’s friends with Carlisle, also she just knows things.” Lilith also had the ability to basically read your mind with her magic, but right now Daniel didn’t care. Once they got this Carlisle situation sorted he could worry about how he possibly put the whole coven in danger while trying to keep everyone safe.

Aurora’s mind was still spinning, trying to steady her breathing and shaking body. Too concerned about what was in front of her to notice that Daniel was on the phone to somebody. Still trying to figure out how Carlisle ended up dead, in the garden without anybody hearing or seeing anything.
As Daniel spoke up, she looked towards him to see he had a phone in hand. Not thinking anything of it; other than him trying to call someone for help. “I think I saw Lil, wander off somewhere with Miles earlier.” Even if Lilith could help them figure things out, they still needed more muscle to move Carlisle’s body. “We’re going to need more muscles if we need to move him. Maybe Rowan along with Tristan and Vic?” Automatically her mind going straight to a few of her friends that would be strong enough to help them move Carlisle somewhere safe.
The longer she took in the scene in front of her; the more she felt her eyes stinging with tears. God, she barely cried. But this wasn’t a situation she expected to find herself in the middle of. Her breathing not calming down either.

Aurora was having a bit of a breakdown, and as much as Daniel wanted to scream because this was all his fault, he couldn’t do that. He had to be there for his friend, his panic attack would have to wait. He put his phone away and put his hands on Aurora’s shoulders, "Aurora, look at me, come on. Deep breaths. Inhale,” Daniel took a deep breath in, both to demonstrate and to keep himself calm, ”hold it a sec……and exhale.” He let the breath out, ”now, I know this is a lot. Believe me, I know. But we have to keep our wits about us. Carlisle was connected to the barrier, so if he’s gone then something dangerous might come through.”
He took another deep breath, ”you go inside and tell everyone, it’s probably safer in there surrounded by others. I’ll stay here with Carlisle’s body, keep it safe,” plus if he was out here alone Daniel could maybe have his moment to let out all these feelings he was experiencing.

As Daniel gripped onto her shoulders, he briefly brought her back to reality. Managing to blink back some tears, Aurora tried to take a deep breath as per his instruction. Her breath was shaky, as she struggled to deepen it from her shock. But eventually mastered a deep breath. Holding it for a while, before she breathed it back out. Repeating the motion, a few more times; before her breathing calmed down. Without Carlisle, they couldn’t keep the barrier up. Aurora herself wasn’t an Abjurer to have such an ability. “How are we supposed to fix the barrier without him?”
When he suggested that she go inside and inform the others, Aurora paused for a second. “Are you going to be okay here alone?” The last thing they needed was for someone else to get hurt or attacked, whilst she was inside being the bearer of bad news.

”I don’t know,” Daniel told her, ”It’s not like we have a surplus of abjurers. But that’s a problem we just have to put aside right now”, Daniel was forcing himself to be numb to the situation. If he allowed himself to express the feelings inside he would just break down. ”I’ll be fine here, I promise,” he reassured her, ”I can take care of myself,” and I would feel even worse if another one of my friends was hurt because of me. He kept the last part to himself, he didn’t need Aurora worrying about him at this point, and right now Daniel wanted to be alone. Being with Carlisle’s corpse was probably the best chance he would get for a while.

Aurora knew he had a point. It was a problem for another time, yet a big one. If the barrier was down too long, who knows what could happen. “Carlisle and Lil, are the only ones.” Or Carlisle was one of them. Now it just left Lilith as the only Abjurer; aside from maybe a few of the older generation of Abjurers that were on the council.
As he assured her that he was going to be okay, Aurora tried to believe him. But maybe a small part of her wasn’t convinced. But nonetheless she nodded. If something would go wrong, he knew where to find her. With that, Aurora managed to make her feet work. Walking back towards the veranda entrance, towards the party. The music still blasting, people laughing, dancing, having a good time. How was she supposed to break the news to everyone? It’s not exactly something she had experience with. It was a first. The walk back inside felt like an eternity. Her body moved slower than she was used to; maybe it was just the shock of everything. Aurora looked quite spaced out, her face sunken. Trying not to have another panic attack as soon as she entered.

Victor Crowe

Interactions: Rowan @HaleyTheRandom, Aurora @WolfLover, and Daniel @duskshine749

Victor chuckled at his joke. “Sure, man.” He replied, grabbing the case. “You look great man, time's been kind to you, huh?” A tingly chill caused the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up, something was wrong. Victor's eyes flicked to the sky. The sky illuminated blue, almost appearing as if it was the morning. What the fuck? The vibrant blue suddenly began dissipating as quickly as it appeared. Is that the barrier?!

Victor had to get to Carlisle. As far as he knew, he was one in-charge of maintaining the barrier. Tradition, or something. It didn't matter know. He dropped the case and ran a full sprint into the Coven. The barrier kept all kinds of nasty things outside of Tanner. It was paramount that the barrier not deactivate. His old Coven, too, had a similar barrier and he knew from personal experience that only trouble awaits when it fails. He searched every nook and cranny of the house, dodging dancing, drunk, or drugged partygoers- often some combination of all three.

After a few minutes of dead end searching, Victor spotted Aurora, her face mangled with worry and fear. He ran past her and got onto the veranda. Daniel wore a similar look to Aurora. Carlisle was there, unmoving and stiff. He looked dead. Luckily he had skipped eating something before the party, otherwise he likely would have thrown up all over the place. He took a second to calm himself. Daniel tried to hide his expression but it was plain to see.

Victor stepped over to Carlisle and took a pulse. Nothing. It was expected, but what the hell did this to him? Could it have been the curse, how can a curse even do this. He grit his teeth. He wasn't aware of the particulars of this... curse, but if someone purposefully did this... No, he should keep his mind on the current situation.

“... I saw the barrier fail outside.” Victor finally said, “This isn't good, Daniel. Shit. We need to talk to Lilith, or even Serena.”

“Actually, are you okay?” He hadn't taken into account his friend's mental state. It was taking everything in him to not lose it. We're still human, after all.

Pain. Unbelievable pain. That was the first feeling that Hayden felt as she came too. How long had she been out for? How was that even important? She couldn’t even move her body at the moment. Priorities. Opening her eyes slowly; As best she could given the swelling, her senses were assaulted by the party. The low light, the noises and the scent of drink and sweat. Hayden was still slumped against the wall that she passed out on. She tried to scan her body and assess the damage. Her face was pulsating in pain and she was struggling to see clearly. Her left arm was broken. She couldn't assess the damage properly to her arm as she was scared to even attempt to move it.

She could feel The dried tears on her face. It made her face feel stiff, more so as the dried blood had also formed splotches over her mouth and swollen cheeks & eyes. Raising her unbroken arm, she attempted to wipe some of the freshest tears from her eyes. With a soft whimper, trying to not draw attention to herself, Hayden attempted to sit up against the wall. As she did she noticed the pools of blood that had formed on the floor. Was that all hers? While it wasn’t an awful lot, it was still disturbing for her to see it. Despite being a hard nut who was used to fighting in New York, this was different. She had never lost this badly before in her life. Admittedly, it was an unfair fight. She was fairly certain that if the other two girls had not got involved, Hayden would have that bitch Delaney right she wanted her.

Kolby was going to be pissed. She hadn’t thought about that before she started the fight. She hadn’t even been here a whole day and she had already caused problems. She knew the duo had their issues, but deep down, Hayden did care about Kobly. She just enjoyed the arguing and the fighting. Kolby gave as good as he got. But deep down she didn’t want to hurt him. And she couldn’t help but feel a sinking feeling in her stomach signalling that she may have fucked up. She couldn’t let him see her like this. Scanning the room from her lowered position. She didn’t seem to be able to see him. So that was something.

She then remembered that earlier that day Carlisle had seemed to get his nose fixed rather quickly. She began to wonder how he had done it. He left the room, and then came back almost fifteen minutes later perfectly fine. So it must have been magical. Hayden needed to investigate. But first she needed to get up. And that was going to be hard. No one seemed to be eager to try to help her, or check up on her. So she was going to have to do this on her own. Getting up with her arm mangled was going to be an issue. Her body wanted to use it, but attempting to move at all, caused throbs of protest and pain in her arm. With a small howl of pain, Hayden began to press her back up against the wall and use her legs to try and lift her body up. It was a slow process, and during the entire time, Hayden bit her bottom lip and tried her hardest to suppress her grunts of pain. But some still slipped through. It took her a near full minute to get back up on her feet, her back arched against the wall, as she pressed her good arm against her broken one to try and hold it in place so that it didn't move and cause her any more pain.

Scanning around the room, she spotted the door that Carlisle had gone through earlier in the day. Staggering across the party, trying not to hit anyone, or have anyone hit her arm. She stayed alert, keeping eyes out for Serena, Erin or Delaney. She wasn’t ready for round two yet. Reaching the veranda she scanned around. There was only one way that she could go, and at the end of the veranda she could see a set of double doors. Maybe that was it? She staggered forward, noticing more broken glass and blood on the floor. Perhaps Delaney went this way? Hayden stopped. If she had gone this way. Did she really want to carry on this path? The urge to feel better trumped that of the embarrassment of seeing Delaney. With a pained sigh, Hayden charged forward, reaching the double doors and going through them. She found herself inside an Alchemy lab. Hayden smiled. They must have kept healing potions in here somewhere. Walking over to one of the cabinets, she used her good arm to start searching. She found herself a healing potion, and stumbled over to a nearby chair. She carefully sat down, before attempting to remove the cork from the bottle with her one hand, using her knees to hold the bottle in place. Without any hesitation she necked the drink back, feeling its warm liquid rush down her throat. Her face began to feel better almost right away, and she could feel it working on her arm. It was going to take a while though. For now, Hayden sunk into the chair, closing her eyes and enjoying the sensation as her body began to heal itself.

"Damn that tall bitch knows how to throw a fucking punch. Fuck." She remarked, chuckling to herself, before breaking out into a laugh. Despite the beating, she had to admit that it was fun, now she was looking back on it. It was a challenge. "Maybe next time, rip her sister from her and just get her on her own though."

Tanner. Home. Kirstie had mixed feelings about returning to her hometown. On one hand Tanner was the one place that she felt the most special, University hadn't exactly been the best experience for her. Leaving Tanner had forced her to abandon her posse; her most elite group of friends. University had forced her to start all over again. Despite her best attempts at trying to create a brand new elite circle for herself Kirstie found it hard to adapt to the social circles of university. It seemed almost as if the social norms of high school didn't apply at university. As a result the normally social Queen bee was actually quite lonely during her college years.

Returning to Tanner was a perfect opportunity for Kirsty to start again. She wasn't entirely sure what happened to her entourage after they went to college. for the most parts they had all broken contact with her, or was it that she broke contact with them? Either way she was no longer in high school and therefore had to find new ways of making friends, at least in Tanner she knew some of the people. not that she really liked them, but she did know them. Regarding returning to the Coven Kirstie was rather indifferent to it. She never really enjoyed her witch training. She had always felt that she was mixed in with the common kids. And that was beneath her. All the while, Carlisle, Serena and Lilith got pulled away to do special training.

Her indifference caused her to entirely skip over the coven meeting that morning. She didn’t particularly care to listen to Carlisle and his words. She remembered what he was like from high school, and if he hadn’t changed, then she wasn’t interested. She was pretty confident that a lamppost had better charisma than he did. Having him run the coven was just a recipe for disaster. While she did blow off the coven meeting, she did find out about the party. Now that was more her style. Still. She needed to look perfect for this. As a result, while everyone was out making themselves useful, she was out picking outfits. Retinal therapy was the best kind of therapy. More so when you weren't paying, but daddy was. After going through the shops all day. She found it. A red jacket dress finished with a black minibelt. That was the look she wanted. It was perfect. The neckline was so low that it left exactly nothing to the imagination and it would draw eyes towards her with ease.

She knew the party was due to start at 7pm, or sometime around then. But in all honesty, she never planned to arrive until 8. At that point the party would have started. People would have started to get a little bored, and a little drunk. That meant when she walked in, all eyes would be on her. Driving into the driveway in her silver Mercedes SLK, she climbed out and locked it, taking a moment to adjust her minibelt. She then strutted towards the household and burst through the front door, opening it and sweeping through. She made sure to slam the door open, the sound of the impact hopefully getting people's attention. She then stood still for a moment, letting everyone get a good look at her. With her strut now complete, Kirstie made a beeline for the vodka at the table, grabbing a bottle and a cup and pouring herself a vodka and coke. Taking a stiff drink from it, her eyes wandered around the party. The vibe didn't quite feel right. Something was off with the way people were dancing. She took a deep breath and focused her mind, trying to look at people and see if she could read their auras. There was tension. So something had happened. With a soft sigh she leant back against the table, her eye wandering to the otherside of the room near the veranda entrance, seeing Aurora enter. She couldn't remember the woman's name in practice, but whoever she was, she didn't exactly look happy. Her Aura was off the chart. Something was about to happen, so Kirstie took a sip of her drink and stayed back, watching the movie unfold in front of her.

A post by: @SouffleGirl123 & @HaleyTheRandom, Starring Miles Price & Lilith Montgomery.
Interacting with: Themselves, Victor @Inertia, & Daniel @duskshine749. Mentions of Carlisle @Hedgehawk, and Aurora @WolfLover.

The good thing about parties was that people were always too caught up in their own shit to care about what other people were doing around them.

With the door locked and the rest of the world blocked out behind it, Lilith and Miles quickly fell back into old habits. Every kiss and every touch seemed to set Lil’s body more on fire. Completely caught up in the moment, the young woman had temporarily forgotten her problems.

Suddenly, Lilith felt an overwhelming, gut punching sensation that took her breath away. Quickly pulling back from Miles, Lilith quickly climbed off of his lap, making sure to readjust her clothes as she did so.

”I- sorry. Somethings wrong,” she stated, clearly worried as her brow furrowed. ”I don’t know how to explain it, but I just -” As she inhaled sharply through her teeth, Lilith wrapped her arms around her stomach, doing her best to hold herself together. It was taking all of the willpower that the brunette had to keep herself standing. Goosebumps formed on her skin as a chill ran up her spine. Nails now digging into the fabric of her shirt, Lilith’s whole body appeared to be shaking. ”Something… I… can you help me outside? Please?”

Miles let himself get completely lost in the moment. There was a sweetness in their moment, in every touch, in every breath, a sweetness he only craved more with every second. He forgot about the party. For now it was just them, they could have still been 17 for all he knew.

It all came to a halt as Lilith jumped off of his lap, claiming something was wrong. Miles gave a sigh, trying his hardest not to seem disappointed, was it truly just the alcohol that led to this moment? Was her confession all an alcohol-fuelled lie? Had this all just led Lil to not feel the same way he had? Thoughts swam around and around his head. "Li… I'm sor-" his eyes moved to look at her to find her shuttering. "Are you okay?"

At her request he nods and goes to her side, straightening his shirt as he did so, and slips an arm around her. He pulls her arm over his shoulders. "Which outside?"

Wrapping her left arm around Miles’s waist, Lilith the best that she could to look up at him and make eye contact. ”It’s a me thing - not a you thing - you’re fine. More than fine. Just -” Reaching for the door knob, the young woman drunkenly fumbled with the lock in frustration with her spare hand. ”Outside, Kane. The real one. With the grass and trees and shit.”

It's not you, it's me, sure it wasn't said that way but damn those words hurt, even if the order wasn't quite that. As Lilith fumbled with the lock and somewhat chastised him, Miles chuckled. Kane, man, he hadn't heard that nickname in forever. "Ok, ok, the outside with the trees," he chuckles, helping her fumble with the door and leading her out.

As the pair meandered through the crowd, Lilith grabbed onto Miles’s shirt, making a small fist. The uncomfortableness in her body had all but subsided, making it slightly easier for her to walk. Pulled towards the back door of the Coven House by some invisible force, Lilith was met by the sight of a panicked Aurora. Pushing her way past the blonde, Lilith could have sworn that she had heard Aurora mumble Carlisle’s name under her breath.

Stepping outside, Lilith felt an uneasiness in the air. People’s emotions were running wild with anger, happiness, and everything in between. Still though - there was another energy there that wasn’t welcome. Something that felt like… fear.

Looking up at the night sky, it didn’t take long for the young Montgomery to realize that the faint familiar blue hue of Tanners barrier no longer seemed to exist.

”Miles,” she panicked, managing to grip onto him even tighter as she stared up in awe. ”Miles, the barrier is gone.

The sudden realization was enough for Lilith’s natural anxiety to grow as she scanned the veranda, looking for where the negative emotions were coming from. Allowing her powers to guide her, Lilith followed the source of the energy towards the left lower end of the veranda, doing her best not to drag Miles along as she picked up her pace.

As Lilith tightened her grip on his shirt Miles' eyes were drawn to the sky. The brilliant blue hue that usually masked the sky was gone, Lilith was right, the barrier was down. "That's not good," he mumbles, his eyes lingering on the sky a little longer. Unlike Lilith, the experience wasn’t as sobering for Miles and he soon found himself stumbling at Lilith's fast pace, this time she was dragging him along. He tried his best to slow his breathing as the hour or so of bourbon threatened to escape him.

Walking over, Lilith could see that Daniel and Victor were hovered around someone on one of the benches. A few steps closer, and Lilith was able to make out the worried expressions on either of the young men’s faces. Upon closer examination, Lilith silently made out the features of her best friend frozen in sadness.

”What the actual fuck,” she whispered under her breath, now letting go of Miles to throw her hands up in defeat. A short sarcastic laugh escaped from the girl's throat. ”I hate being right all the time.”

Lil seemed to make out the scene before Miles could, he couldn't even make out the nearby faces. Yet Lilith dragged Miles closer still and he could soon make out his friend, frozen in place.
"Wha… What?!" Miles exclaimed in shock. At that moment Lilith let go resulting in Miles stumbling forward. He catches himself on his hands and knees and turns his head up to look at his friend frozen in place on the bench.

"C…Car?" Miles attempts to hold back his tears, even more so to suppress his emotions. He knew the last thing Lil needed right now was his fear, confusion and sadness right now, yet it was so hard to hold in. A single tear rolled down his face as he turned to Lil. "Is he dead?"

Watching Miles's reaction was interesting for Lilith as she felt the emotional roller coaster he was on. Looking back and forth between the small group in front of her, Lilith found herself in a very familiar position as her brain scrambled to form some plan of action.

Tearing her eyes away from Miles, Lilith reached a single arm as she reached out and placed a single hand on Carlisle's frozen form. Careful not to look at the painful expression now stuck on his face, the young woman took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a brief moment as she focused her concentration.

Envisioning Carlisle in her mind, Lilith sought for any spark of light coming from the mental image of him in her head. Sadly, Carlisle appeared just as dead and lifeless on the inside as he did the outside. Refusing to give up that easily, she took another moment to really focus - trying to force the alcohol she had consumed to evaporate from her body. This time, Lilith was able to spot a very small glow, centered on the top of Carlisle's head.

Taking a deep breath, Lilith opened her eyes and looked back down at Miles.

"His spirit is still intact… but barely. I can't speak for his body," she responded, her voice thick with worry.

Miles watched Lilith with eagerness as he worked, scrambling to his feet. He stumbled and swayed as he stablised himself. "So… we just gotta bring the spirit back somehow? Shock it back into the system?” he asks.

Shrugging her shoulder, Lilith sighed. "Something like that, I guess. I'll know more after I sober up and go through some of the books in the library."

"Shock it back into the system…" Miles muses, an idea coming to him. Was it a bad idea? Probably but he was way too inebriated for that information to cross his mind. He positions himself in front of his friend. "Sorry bud," he says under his breath as he squares up. He then punches his friend in the cheek as hard as he could.

Absolutely bewildered with Miles's drunkenly actions, Lilith didn't really know rather to laugh or glare at him - though it had seemed that the later had won. Pulling him backwards by his shirt tail, she began to scold him.

"Miles Price, I adore you, but if you don't get it the fuck together -"

"Hey, I was trying to help slurs defensively as he’s dragged away from Carlisle’s body. As she chastises him, Miles couldn’t help but let the goofiest smile spread across his face. "You adore me?" he slurs, looking her in the eyes.

Crossing her arms across her chest and shaking her head for clarity, Lilith looked back up at Daniel and Victor, as her brain went into full problem solving mode.

"First thing is first - Daniel, please go stop Aurora before she starts a mass panic. Victor - I'm pretty sure Rowan wasn't that far behind you but -" Looking over at the other side of the veranda, Lilith could clearly see that Rowan and Erin were preoccupied with Delaney - but that didn't stop her from waving the whole group over. "Vic, I'm going to need you, Rowan and Miles to help me take this zombie bastard upstairs - or I can banish him to make sure he's safe. After Carlisle is safe, we need to get the barrier back up. I don’t know whats going on or why its down - all I known is that it ain't natural and it ain't right. "

As she spoke, more and more realizations came to mind while the adrenaline kicked in.

"And by we… I guess I mean me. I can't bring it all the way back up without Car, but I know I can do something, and that has to be better than nothing."

Looking back and forth between the small crowd of faces in front of her, Lilith did the best that she could to keep from panicking.

"Right?" she questioned, her voice small as her forehead wrinkled with worry.

Miles waited as Lilith unfolded a plan. At her request for reassurance Miles stared blankly at her for a while as he processed her words. "Oh, yeah. Right," It likely sounded unconvincing between the slurred speech and alcohol-influenced delay but it was a good plan really. Miles turned to Victor and Rowan. "I'll take the shoulders?"

Jazrina Exits

Jazrina had returned to the party with Daniel and Cait. Daniel said goodbye as he took off for the snacks and drinks. Jazrina was about to ask Cait what her plans were now when her phone rang. She would ignore it, except it was the ringtone she set for her mom. She frowned because she knew her mother knew she was at the Coven House Party tonight. She put a finger in her ear and answered the phone. “Hi Mom. It’s too loud in here. Hold on while I find someplace quieter.” Jaz turned to Cait and yelled to be heard over the music. “I have to take this. It’s my mother.” Jaz started making her way towards the door.

Jazrina carried the phone outside. As the front door shut behind her, she walked towards her car. The further away from the house she got the quieter it got. She was half down the driveway before she brought the phone back to her ear. “Sorry about that mom. They had a DJ playing. What’s Up?”

Jazrina stopped in her tracks. Something was very wrong. “Mom?” She could hear her mother moving around and what sounded like sobs. “Mom! Tell me what’s going on!” Jazrina’s voice got louder. Her mother was openly crying with large jerky deep breaths and hiccups. “Its your father. I got a call from the company he works for.” Her mother sucked in a deep breath and talked fast. It was if she needed to get it out before she wouldn’t be able to talk anymore. Jazrina’s knees were shaking. She felt weak and lightheaded. She knew her father’s job was not always the safest. He was exploring rugged rural backcountry looking for minerals and resources.

Her mother’s voice rose in volume as she spoke. “Your father was caught in a cave-in. They have already pulled him out and he was flown to the nearest trauma center. He is still in surgery and is in critical condition. We must get to him Jaz. I need to be there. I need to know we did all we could for him.” Her mother broke down in ugly crying on the phone. Jaz’s knees gave way. She collapsed in the grass next to the driveway on her knees. It was suddenly hard to breathe. Tears were streaming down her face. Her mother was implying they had told her he wasn’t going to make it. Jaz felt as if her heart was being ripped from her chest.

Jaz knew that as much pain as she was feeling it had to be harder for her mother. That thought helped her climb back to her feet. “I am coming mom. I will be there as soon as I can. Start packing.” Jaz kicked off her heels and ran barefoot to her car. Her hands trembled now that adrenaline was pumping through her system. She struggled to get her keys out of her purse. She finally disabled the alarm and got in. She clicked the seatbelt and finally got the key into the ignition. She was currently blessing her foresight to park where she did. She managed to get out of the crowded driveway. She knew she shouldn’t be driving. She didn’t care. Her only thoughts were how to help her father and to get to his side. She didn’t notice the barrier had fallen. She wouldn’t be able to do anything about it if she did notice. She didn’t have that power.

She made it home in record time. She didn’t remember driving home. She didn’t remember stopping at stop signs or at traffic lights. She didn’t get pulled over by the cops on the way home. She had driven on autopilot. That was a scary realization. She shut down her SUV. She flew into the house shouting for her mother. She hugged her mother. “We will get there mom. Dad only needs to hang on till we get there.” She repeated it like a mantra. She waited till her mom seemed calmer and then held at arm’s length. “Pack a suitcase. Which trauma center did they take him to? Where do we need to go?” Her mother mumbled something about Rio de Janeiro.

Jaz took charge knowing her mother was in shock. Jaz nodded and went upstairs to her room. She pulled out her laptop and booked them the earliest tickets to Rio she could find from Seattle. Seattle was the closest airport. Their flight left in 4 hours. If she drove like a bat out of hell and they left in the next 30 minutes, they should make their flight. She sent Cait a quick text message letting her know what was going on. She didn’t want her thinking she bailed on her. She didn’t have anyone else’s number besides Daniel’s. She texted her mother’s best friend Josephine to come and take care of her animals for her. She began throwing clothes back into the suitcase she had just unpacked hours ago. She changed into comfortable clothes for the flight. She left the grass-stained white dress on the floor in her bathroom. She carried her suitcase down the stairs and loaded it into the back of her SUV. Her mother was calmer now that there was action happening. She had packed her suitcase and made them coffee for the drive.

Jaz drove through the night too wired and pumped up with worry to fall asleep behind the wheel. Their flight out of Seattle was a red-eye leaving at midnight. They had just made it through security when their flight was being called for boarding. Jaz and her mom boarded the plane. They managed to get seats next to one another. The flight was not a sold out one since it was a red-eye. She put her phone on airplane mode and plugged it into charge. She never noticed anything wrong in Tanner as she was so focused on dealing with her personal family drama. She held her mother’s hand as the plane whisked them towards Rio in South America. She hoped her father was still alive when they got there.

Location: Coven Household > Garden

Time: 8:05PM

Zach had arrived to the coven late. Fashionably late was the reason he was going to give. But the reality was that he had only arrived back in Tanner yesterday. He had spent most of that day unpacking his shit from college, as well as getting used to his new accommodation. Mother and father were pretty clear that after college he had to find his own place. They were willing to help him on his feet, but he had to look after himself. In all honesty, he preferred it that way. After living in dorm rooms for three years away from his parents, he was ready to enjoy his freedom even more.

The energy exerted yesterday meant that he ended up sleeping in today and totally flaking out on the meeting. Still, he managed to come later in the afternoon and catch Carlisle to get caught up on everything. That was an experience in and of itself. He was glad that Carlisle dropped out of college and went back to Tanner, as he found the male insufferable at times. Always so wound up and peculiar. He also bumped into the covens latest newbie, some girl named Hayden. Learning she was an item with Kolby made Zach immediately lose interest. He couldn't give a rat's ass who hung off that piece of shits arm. He did learn about the party, and that made him happy. He could do parties.

Arriving at said party, late once again, Zach took a moment to walk over to the drinks table and find the largest bottle of whiskey he could find. Seeing a single unopened bottle, he took it and popped the lid off and began taking a drink of it. Looking around he headed for the garden to get some fresh air. He had to admit that the garden was quite beautiful, and he had missed it. College dorms were just full of tight rooms with little green space. He took up a position over by the bushes, away from the main party and the veranda.

He had been so wrapped up in his own little world that he didn’t exactly notice what was going on to the side of him. It wasn’t until he witnessed the blue hue of the barrier fall over Tanner did the lonesome little drinker begin to suspect anything was wrong. Still. It wasn’t his problem right? So he did what Zach did best, carried on drinking. It wasn’t until a little later, when he started to hear people out in the garden did he actually start to respond.

Walking past the hedges and into the side of the garden, the sight that greeted him was one that he wasn’t quite ready for. Sitting on the bench appeared to be Carlisle, who seemed to be as rigid as a statue. Zach watched as Miles punches Carlisle in the face, he himself standing on the very edge of the hedge, as to not be in anyone’s way. Hearing the sound of fist on skin, Zach began to slowly clap, a smile all over his face as Miles observed the impact of his punch.

”Been telling you since college bro. You needed to punch Carlisle in the face. Nice to see you have finally taken that advice to heart”. It was hard to tell if Zach was being serious or just trying to lighten the mood.

First Steps Back Home

'Who even are you?'

Cait stood quivering on the front step of the house. A hasty goodbye had wrapped up her brief reunion with Jaz, who had rushed back to her car in a hurry. Like a puppy following its human, Cait had followed close behind stopping just as she crossed the threshold to the outside. From that spot, rocking back and forth she had watched as the blue SUV rolled of the drive way and out of sight; she stayed transfixed until the glow of the tail lights faded into the young night.

Steadying a trembling hand, she took a gulp of the Twisted Tea that Daniel had given her. With her free hand she gathered her phone. The text she had ignored earlier found itself given her full and undivided attention. It stared back at her with vicious dissection. The inquisition caught her off balance; her inebriated brain fumbled around for a response.

'It's complicated.'

Cait tapped "Send." For a laboring minute she glared down the LED screen in an uncommon perfect stillness.

The response came.

'You said you didn't do complicated.

'It's not me. It's family shit.--'

Cait's thumb hovered over the Send button. The last two words of her message hung up her train of thought.

Family

That was what she had always been told about the Coven. "These are your brothers, your sisters, your cousins," her father would say to her, almost religiously. But the tow of life had taken its piece; difference of character and lifestyles had left walls and conflict. Despite the few bonds Cait had made within the Coven, she had insisted on treading the path of an outsider; she had spent much of her life distancing herself from the Coven, Magic, and Tanner.

Cait slipped her phone back into her pocket, leaving her last message unsent. Downing the last of her Twisted Tea in a single chug, she dropped the can to the side and hovered down from the front steps. She trudged out into the front lawn a ways and turned back towards the mansion. She craned her neck up; the large house imposed against the young night sky over her.

In quick succession, her chest dropped twice.

The first came from a hard realization: that morning, Cait's return to Tanner felt like being stuck back into a cage. Now, it sank in that she had returned to a home she had never known. Holding the ground before her, the mansion was the monolithic symbol of a double life she yearned to sever herself from in the name of a free a simple life. The feeling was a long time coming; Cait had been ready for it the moment the plane from LA had lifted off the tarmac.

The second was sudden and unexpected; it ripped her from her own head space like duct tape peeling off the skin. The backdrop of the sky against the house flashed. The subtle aura of magic that encompassed the town dispersed and vanished into the dark night. Cait knew enough to understand: the barrier that Carlisle's family maintained to protect the town was gone. The sight rooted her to her spot on the lawn.

Who even are you?

The question burned into Cait's thoughts.

What had seemed a clear choice not even a moment earlier had turned into a daunting debate. She could have made a run; split town and hightailed it back to Cali to pick up where she had left off. With so much going on would anyone even know she was gone before she was well and away from Tanner? She didn't have her board though, and if she knew her parents they'd have magic'd up a way to keep her from getting it back.

With the barrier falling, anything could be lurking in the night. She might have taken her chances with the council and fled; with what the shielding spells had kept away...

Cait wanted to live free; dying in the process did little to serve that purpose.

Who even are you?

She looked up and down the street, and then back at the house. She double-taked, and triple-taked. She took another hit off of the joint; it probably wouldn't last the night. Hauling in a deep breath, she hiked back up the lawn to the front door. Restraining a trembling arm, she pushed the door open and crossed back into the Coven.

A Collab between @WolfLover & @Soufflegirl123
Featuring: Lydia and Tristan Pearson & Catherine Hierich

As Tristan turns to Catherine in his attempt for backup she throws her hands up. ”I’m not helping you here, Trist. Lyd’s an adult, she can wear whatever she wants. I’ve worn enough crop tops in my time to not be on your side of the argument,” She then pours some gin, albeit less than Lydia was pouring for herself, into a fresh cup and gives it to Lydia. ”She’s 21, let the poor girl have a drink,” She then turns to Lydia as she hands her the cup and gives her a wink and a smile. ”And how are you, hun?”

The dark haired male sighed. “Not the help I was expecting.” More so mumbling to himself than talking to either of the older females outloud. As much as he wanted his little sister to avoid the hard-stuff, it seemed like Catherine wasn’t going to help him with that either. “Who’s side are you on?” Asking her teasingly. He then took another look at his sister’s attire; shaking his head. “She might be 21, but I still think she should change her outfit. Not to mention crop tops are entirely too different to…this” gesturing to Lydia’s revealing dress. “Not to mention, this is the hard stuff.” Motioning to the drink in her hands.

Lydia smirked a little bit, knowing that she had her friend in her corner. “Sorry bro, Cat’s on my side.” It was just something her brother would have to get used to. Girls sticking together. As Cat filled her a fresh cup of gin, she gave her a thankful warm smile. Filling it up with some tonic, before her brother could snatch that one away from her too. If Tristan had it his way, he’d have her drinking Orange juice. “Chill, not like I am drinking Absinthe.” Lydia was way too casual about her choice of drink, and how much she would have preferred more gin in her cup. But this would do for now. Taking a sip of her drink. “Much better now I can enjoy a little drink and see you’re back in town. I missed you.” Even though she had other friends in Tanner to keep her occupied, Lydia still missed Cat and their ‘time’ together; especially as Cat let her get away with a few things that Tristan did not. Maybe it was a girl thing. But Catherine certainly always understood Lydia in ways her brothers did not. Guess the same went for any of her female friends. “I hope you don’t have any plans for the next few weeks?” Lydia questioned, with a warm smile. “You must come to dinner soon. Everyone would love to see you again.” Not knowing that her brother had already somewhat invited her already.

At Tristan’s questioning of whose side she was on Cat looked between him and his sister and raised an eyebrow. "Who do you think? Maybe I'll wear it next time, grandpa," Catherine jests in return. Truly Lydia and Cat had very differing styles, she wouldn’t really wear anything like it but the idea might stifle a laugh from her friends. She took a sip of her own drink as the siblings bickered, always at ends they were.

At the offer for dinner Cat nodded ”Of course, would love to. And we need to catch up too, of course," She decided not to admit that it was her second offer of the day, she was sure Tristan would say something anyway

Maybe a small part of him was hoping that Catherine would be on his side. But clearly not. “I know, I know…you girls stick together.” He huffed. His eyes going a bit wide when Catherine teased him about wearing Lydia’s dress. Trying not to look like an idiot; as he found himself staring a bit in shock and surprise. Admittedly, he imagined what she might look like wearing Lydia’s dress. The thought distracted him for a few moments. With a shake of his head, he focused his attention on his sister. “Don’t even think about it, missy!” He warned as she mentioned Absinthe. “I don’t need you seeing triple at this party, if you drink that poison.”

Lydia rose an eyebrow, as her brother seemingly got distracted at the comment about Catherine wearing her dress. “You’re always welcome to borrow it, if you’d like.” Lydia offered her with a smile. Often sharing a few outfits with friends of hers. Catherine was one of those friends. Though she meant it, it was mainly meant to tease her big brother. Shaking her head at her brother’s comment. “I swear, you’re such a party pooper. Loosen up a little, old man.” Playfully nudging him, before she took another sip of her drink. Smiling as Catherine accepted her offer. “Great. I’ll ask mom to cook us our favorite.” Nodding at the idea of catching up. She was sure they had plenty to catch up on.

Rolling his eyes as Lydia called him a party pooper. “I am fun, I’ll have you know.” Mumbling slightly under his breathe. Much to his surprise, Lydia invited Catherine to dinner. “You do realize, I already invited her to dinner earlier, right?” Tristan spoke with a raised eyebrow as he looked at his little sister.

Lydia looked at her brother, her eyebrow raising back at him. In almost a mocking like expression. “Sure you did.” Not fully believing him. Knowing him full well to know his invitations to dinner were always half-assed. Trying not to laugh as he almost whined at her, saying that he did. “I am not disputing you Trist. I am sure you did.” She giggled, as her tone of voice was still sassy as day. “But knowing you as well as I do, I’ve taken the liberty of inviting Cat over properly.”

Tristan huffed, as a slight glare crossed his face. “I swear, it must be pick on Tristan day or something.” His sister’s sassiness getting to him. Especially as she made the comment about inviting Catherine over properly.

As Tristan's eyes rested on her in, was it shock? After Tristan's eyes had rested on Catherine for a moment too long for her liking she clears her throat. ”I'm kidding, T," she clarifies in a soft voice.

As the pair fought, Catherine couldn't help but roll her eyes, it seemed that the pair were so focused on her that they had forgotten about her presence right before them. ”Let's split the difference, Trist invited me first, Lydia was the first to say the words. Happy?" she offers taking another sip from her cup.

As Catherine cleared her throat, Tristan caught onto her discomfort from him gazing at her too long. Slightly averting his gaze; not wanting to be off putting. Chuckling a little nervously “Good one, Cat.” Trying to laugh off the moment. But mentally slapped himself. What on earth was he doing? He truly had no idea. Feeling all kind of out of sorts. Definitely wasn’t his smoothest moves.

As always the pair of Pearson siblings seemed to get absorbed into their little bickering. Typical big brother vee little sister moment. True, they might have fought like cats and dogs at times, but they did have a love for each other. Lydia giving Cat an apologetic look, when her friend cleared her throat. Mouthing ‘Sorry’ Not meaning to forget she was there with them in the room. “I can settle for that.” Hearing Cat trying to come up with a compromise over whom invited her first to dinner.

Tristan gave a slight shrug. “Mhh, I guess that’s as good as it can get.” No doubt, his little sister would always remind him that he needed to get better at inviting people over properly.

”Well, I don’t have any plans and my job’s pretty flexible so if you can put aside your bickering long enough to figure out a date just let me know,” Catherine finishes her drink and bangs her cup on the table. ”Now, I’m going to go say hi to some people, but it was good to see you both again,” With that Catherine walks deeper into the crowd of party goers, leaving the siblings to their devices.

A @Sailorsadie & @HaleyTheRandom Collab. Starring: Delaney, Erin, and Rowan. Featuring: Serena & Lilith. Mentions: Daniel, Victor, Carlisle, Miles, Hayden.
Time:

After the fight was over, Erin had slipped an arm around Delaney’s waist, guiding her out onto the veranda.

As they stepped out into the night air, Erin took a deep breath and helped her friend onto a bench before ordering Serena away to go find medical supplies. In the meantime, Erin had grabbed some spare napkins off the corner of the snack table on the way out the door. Now looking at Delaney with concern, she began to dab at the small cuts on the other woman's face.

”Can you please explain to me how you can’t go ten minutes without getting into a fight without me? Do you know how offended I am right now,” she joked, trying to play off her concern.

Wincing at the small dabs, she eyed the woman. They were harmless compared to what she was hit with, but it didn’t mean they didn’t sting like a bitch. Delaney huffed out a breath and allowed her favourite person to clean up after her mess. Again. She felt like absolute shit.

”This time it wasn’t me. Bitch collided into me and then dumped her bottle all over my new outfit.” She scoffed and rolled her eyes. ”Ruined a perfectly good jacket. Who does that sewer rat think she is?”

Listening to Delaney speak, Erin's eyes narrowed in frustration. ”Sounds like home girl just showed up looking to start shit to me,” she responded with a sigh. Standing up and moving so that she was standing behind Delaney, Erin began to pull her friend's hair back from her face and up into a bun.

”I’m glad I hit that bitch,” Erin stated sourly, her face scrunching up in disgust as she pictured the newcomer in her mind.

”Glad you hit who?”

Hearing a deep voice, Erin looked up to see Rowan walking over their way. Her expression quickly changed as she tried to hide the small smirk forming.

Rowan, on the other hand, was clearly concerned. As Erin watched the young man take in the scene before him, she could have sworn she saw a small anger brewing in his eyes.

”D,” he questioned, his voice firm. ”Who did this?”

Delaney hissed out a breath at her hair being pulled, the strands tugging at the spot where she was hit with the bottle. She could have sworn shards of glass were still mixed in. ”Tulip, I love the hell out of you, but you need to stop bringing strays home. Especially rabid ones.

She smelled him before she heard his voice. The combination of his cologne, charcoal from the grill, and a small hint of turpentine from his woodwork hit her senses and she bit back a groan. Her second favourite person had arrived.

Glancing up as much as she could at the voice, she let out a resigned breath. ”That new girl, whatever the hell her name is. Kolby’s new meat stick.”

As Erin continued to pull back Delaney’s hair and remove what glass she could. Meanwhile, Rowan took a seat on the bench beside Delaney to assess the damage himself.

With a small huff and a disappointed expression, Rowan rolled his eyes at the mention of Kolby. ”Well, I can’t hit her - but I can hit him,” he offered. Looking up at Erin he added: ”Tell me you guys got at least a few good hits in?”

Erin laughed. ”You bet we did. Broken arm, bottle over her head. Left her in her own mess - literally. Maybe we did too much, but -”

”Justice isn’t always fair,” Rowan interjected.

Practically on que, Serena walked up with a basic med kit and a few healing potions. Quickly handing them to Rowan, she turned on her heel before being stopped by her cousin.

”And where do you think you’re going,” Erin asked inquisitively.

”To get wasted,” Serena retorted as she turned her back on the group once more. ”I did my part, now I deserve my reward.” Holding up her right hand, Serena held up a peace sign, walking back through the entryway to the house. ”Later losers.”

Rolling her eyes and moving back in front of her friend, Erin picked up the med kit off of the bench and offered it to Delaney.

”Want me to keep playing doctor, or can you handle yourself?”

Her entire body tingled at being this close to Rowan. Delaney looked back up at her best friend and gave her a small grin. ”I can handle the rest from here. Thanks lovey.”

Taking one of the potions from Rowan, she looked it over before downing it in one gulp. Her nose scrunched in distaste before letting out a slow breath. She glanced at Rowan next to her and bumped his shoulder with her own. ”As much fun as it would be to see you knock the shit out of Kolby, I wouldn’t want you to start anything just because of me.”
Rowan chuckled. ”I have my own reasons for wanting to hit that one. Besides, I wouldn’t be starting anything.”

”Just finishing it,” Erin replied with a laugh of her own. ”I’m going to go get us all something to drink. Be back in just a sec.”

As Erin walked away, Rowan turned back to Delaney, leaning back on the bench and stretching one of his arms out behind her so that it rested on the back of the bench.

”So,” he began, trying his best to keep things casual. ”What’ve you been up to besides all this mess?”

Delaney’s eyes widened just slightly as she watched Erin walk away. That witch knew what she was doing. She cleared her throat and poked at her nose, wincing. It was still incredibly sore and she knew the bags under her eyes would be a lovely shade of purple.

She cleared her throat as he started to speak. Delaney swore at herself. You’re not a school girl anymore, talk to the man. But hello, have you seen him? Why am I talking to myself? Talk to him!

Taking a breath, she plastered a small grin on her face before turning to her head to respond to him. ”Oh, you know me. Work. Work. And then some more work. Now I have to find a spot for all this Coven crap now.”

She shrugged as she watched him. ”What about you? Didn’t see you at Huskers on your usual day. Everything okay?”

Careful to keep his eyes glued onto the party goers he could see through the door, Rowan did his best to keep his expression calm and collected. She knows what day I come in? Better yet - she was looking for me?

Clearing his throat, Rowan was unable to hide the small half smirk that had formed on his face despite his best efforts. ”Oh yeah, I’m fine. Just got a little busy with work. Helping dad at the Mill, busting out commissions. Usual things.” After a brief pause he quickly added: ”I’ll be sure to come and see you Saturday though. Schedule should be pretty clear then.”

Don’t grin like an idiot don’t grin like an idiot don’t grin like an idiot. Crap. Delaney felt the corners of her mouth raise in a smile. ”Saturday would be great. Pretty busy night though. But I should definitely see you.”

She scrunched her nose, immediately regretting it. She huffed out a breath and groaned. ”Okay. Be truthful with me here. How fucked up do I look?”

At her mention of it being a busy night, Rowan had to fight the urge to laugh once more. Delaney knew good and well that he’d be there until after close, helping her clean up if she needed just as usual.

Turning his sole attention back to Delaney, Rowan took a moment to look her over from head to toe. Glass in her hair, eyes bruised, hair sticking to her face - she was still the most gorgeous thing he had ever seen.

”Well,” he sighed, grabbing one of the small pieces of glass he saw from her hair. ”You’re beat up - that for sure. But I’d bet money that if Erin would let us borrow that camera of hers, we could still get ya on the cover of Vogue.”

”Not a chance in hell of you touching my equipment,” Erin called out, now just a few steps away from the pair. Taking a seat on the ground in front of them, Erin handed both Rowan and Delaney a red solo cup before cracking open the bottle of rum. ”Respectfully, of course,” she added, looking up at Rowan for a moment before her eyes flicked over to meet Delaneys. ”Shots?” she asked, a mischievous smile now plastered across her face.

Delaney couldn’t help the slight flush in her cheeks at his compliment. If only that man knew what he did to her. Her attention then went back to Erin and she raised a brow at the empty plastic cup in her hand. Then, she saw the bottle.

She was about to respond yes, absolutely before she caught Erin’s grin. Her brows furrowed before catching on. Delaney bit back her own smirk before reaching out her cup. ”Yes, please. Fill er up.”

Upon request, Erin poured a decent sized shot in her friend's cup before doing the same for Rowan. Giving it another thought, the blonde quickly poured an extra splash into the young man's cup before filling her own. Raising the solo cup in her hand, Erin pondered for a moment on what to say.

”Here’s to be the new generation or something,” she said with all of the cheerfulness she could muster. Throwing her head back as she took her shot, Erin caught a glimpse of the night sky as her eyes froze on the stars. Hands falling back to her lap, Erin kept her eyes glued on the sky with a confused expression.

”Hey, uh, guys? Either this shit is super strong, or somethings happening with the barrier.”

Delaney threw back her own shot before looking up at the sky. She furrowed her brows and tried to see what Erin was seeing. Then again, she was already three sheets to the wind before the added shot. But, as she studied it, her head tilted to the side in thought.

”Ah, hell. You’re right, I don’t feel that weird vibrating thing anymore. Thought it was just having the shit beat out of me.”

Looking up at the sky, Rowan watched along with Erin and Delaney as the blue hue seemed to flicker and spasm, folding in on itself until it disappeared. With a huff, Rowan looked back down at his empty cup before reaching forwards and grabbing the bottle from Erin.

”I’m no Montgomery,” he stated, pouring more of the alcohol for himself. ”But something tells me that’s not supposed to happen.”

That was it. The vibration she had felt all her life was gone. She rose a brow at the empty feeling. What was the best cure for emptiness? More alcohol. Delaney shook her head and grabbed the bottle from him once he was done. She poured herself a triple shot before knocking it back.

”Unfortunately, this is our circus, and these are indeed our monkeys. But I’m definitely not drunk enough for any of this.”

”Me either,” Erin sang, now grabbing the bottle from Delaney as she poured herself another round.

”Is there even anything we can do.” Rowan questioned. ”Not trying to be pessimistic - just realistic.”

Knocking back her next shot, Erin began to pass the bottle around to her friends once more. ”Well, I know I can’t fix it. Neither can Laney, sadly. But -”

Stopping mid sentence, Erin had made eye contact with Lilith from across the veranda as the brunette seemed to wave them over her way. ”I think she might have some info for us though,” Erin sighed. Standing up with her cup still in hand, she reached her free hand out to Delaney as Rowan stood up himself. ”C’mon.” she said, nodding her head in Lilith’s direction. ”Let’s go see what all this shit’s about.”

She absolutely one hundred percent did not want to go. Huffing out a breath, she slung back her last shot before taking her friend’s hand. Delaney pulled herself to her feet before wobbling slightly. She squeezed Erin’s hand in reassurance before nodding. ”Hold up.”

Delaney turned back to Rowan and grinned up at him, thanking her liquid courage. She managed to stand on the toes of her heels before planting a kiss along his jaw. Her voice lowered for just a moment towards him. ”You look scrumptious tonight.”

Winking at him, she looked back at Erin and nodded. ”Alright, I’m ready for Lil to further ruin my evening. Let’s go.”

With a smile, Rowan dropped his head and redirected his attention to his feet - doing the best that he could to hide the giddy school boy expression on his face. As Delaney grabbed onto Erin, Rowan took his place beside the pair and wrapped an arm around Delaney’s shoulders as they walked. He couldn’t help but to laugh at her comment about Lilith; she was a sweet girl, but her overall attitude and her future predictions could be a little off putting at times.

As they all walked over, Rowan tried to make out the scene before him. Miles was clearly drunken, Daniel and Victor looked concerned, and Carlisle…

”Hold the fuck up,” he said, holding out his free hand, palm facing forward. ”Why does he look dead?”

”Lycan curse,” Lilith stated simply.

”Because that doesn’t raise anymore questions,” Erin grumbled, liquid courage now coursing at full speed through her veins.

Giving Erin a brief glare, Lilith took a deep breath before speaking again. ”A few weeks ago, Carlisle let me know that he was doing some personal research in the basement. Specifically - the forbidden library. I had a vision, told him not to fuck with this book I saw, and he ignored me - obviously. He told me earlier today that he had been placed under a Lycan curse, but there’s so many variations of them I didn’t have the time to research them all. And quite frankly, I’m tired of cleaning up his messes.” Sighing, the brunette rolled her eyes. ”But here we are again.”

Feeling the rum hitting full force, Delaney groaned and leaned into Rowan’s hold. She buried her face against the side of his chest and inhaled his scent. It was one of her favourites.

She looked over her shoulder at the frozen Carlisle and scrunched her nose, instantly regretting it. Delaney wrapped her arm around Rowan’s waist and grumbled. ”No. No, no, no. All I wanted was a nice little party and to see my man here.”

Glancing over at Carlisle, she huffed out a breath. ”Always gotta ruin everything. Stupid Grover.”

Still very drunk herself, Lilith chuckled at Delaney’s comment as Rowan tried to get to the bottom of the situation.

”Lilith - not trying to be rude - but what exactly do you need us for?”

”I was wondering if you’d be kind enough to help us move him to a safe place. Either that or vote on rather for me to banish him or not…” Trailing off, Lilith’s eyes now met Erins. ”I’d really appreciate it if you went and found your cousin - discreetly. Someone needs to tell Serena what’s going on. And Delaney…” Looking at the other girl, the realisation that Delaney may not be able to help right now hit her like a ten ton weight. ”I can’t bring the barrier back up by myself, but I was thinking that if you’re willing to help, maybe we could work something out?”

Erin nodded her head, slipping off to find Serena. If Lilith wanted to handle another awkward situation, Erin was going to let her. Lil might have been a strange one - but at least she had a decent mind.

Listening to Lilith speak, Rowan instinctively pulled Delaney closer. He understood where Lilith was coming from, and fully agreed that the barrier should go back up as soon as possible - but that didn’t mean he wanted Delaney exerting herself anymore. Shrugging his shoulders, Rowan looked down at the blonde before sighing.

”You know I’m always willing to help in whatever way I can,” he began, his gaze now meeting Liliths. ”But ultimately, it’s up to her.”

Delaney tried to break through the haze that was a half bottle or more of rum. She didn’t want to help. All she wanted was to stay wrapped up in Rowan’s arms. Besides, she was drunker than all hell plus recovering from getting her shit rocked. She had syphoned some energy to Erin earlier, but it had left her quickly drained.

She watched Lilith’s face before groaning. Of course she had to help the woman. This was their home, their safety net. Delaney had to do whatever she could.

With a small nod, she looked straight at Lilith. ”Fine. But only if I get to makeout with Rowan later, cause your girl deserves a little reward after this shit show of a night.”

Laughing, Rowan kissed the top of Delaneys head as he smirked. ”Sounds more than acceptable, don’t ya think,” he joked towards Lil.

With a laugh of her own, Lilith nodded her head. ”More than a fair trade, my dear. Now let’s get this show on the road.”

A @Hedgehawk & @HaleyTheRandom Collab: Featuring Hayden & Kolby

After Carlisle’s little announcement earlier, Kolby had slipped out of the Coven House like a shadow. Making his way back to his apartment, Kolby had spent the remainder of his day making sure that the space was livable again. Rearranging, dusting, sweeping & mopping - if you could name it, Kolby had done it.

While Kolby loved parties, he didn’t want to go to one at the Coven House - especially if it was run by Carlisle. Despite his best efforts, however, Kolby’s phone was going off like crazy. People were updating their statuses, posting their party outfits to instagram and the like. It felt like highschool all over again.

As Kolby sat on the couch scrolling through social media, he received a message from Miles.

‘U should come check on ur girl, man’

‘Why?’

In response, Kolby had received a very blurry image of what appeared to be Hayden fighting someone. Upon closer inspection, Kolby made out the rest of the faces in the photo, his face growing hot. Standing up, Kolby grabbed his car keys and put on his jacket before exiting the home.

The drive to the Coven house was a short one. Kolby had made sure of that as he sped up the roads, weaving in and out of traffic as he went. While Kolby knew that Hayden had a temper, and that this wasn’t the first time he was saving her from herself - he couldn’t help but be pissed off. He had told Hayden for weeks leading up to their move that fighting anyone in the Coven wasn’t a good idea. Did she listen? Obviously not.

Arriving at the party, Kolby entered the party and avoided the high fives and claps on back in greeting. He had a one track mind right now, and nothing was going to distract him - except for the bottle of Jack he grabbed from the party favours table.

Scanning his surroundings, Kolby spotted the back of Hayden’s head as she made her way out back and into the Alchemy lab. Opening the bottle and taking a large gulp, Kolby wiped his mouth before setting out on his journey - giving Hayden just enough time to settle in.

Opening the door, Kolby stepped inside the room before locking the door behind him.

His expression stone cold, he turned to look at Hayden were she sat in the chair - still bruised and battered.

”I’m not going to ask you to explain yourself because I’m tired of your piss poor fucking excuses. But what in the fucking hell were you thinking? Or do you even have any brain cells left rolling around in that pretty little head of yours?”

”I have enough brain cells. And for the fight… I had that bitch. Let's get that clear. That blonde bitch was getting hammered. Then those two other bitches jumped in and tag teamed me. I couldn’t defend against them. Was fun though” Hayden commented as she leaned back with her eyes closed, having no idea where Kolby was in the room. The healing potion that she had just taken was starting to heal her. ”I ain't got any excuses. She knocked into me, I squared up, I lost. Big deal. Next time I will remember to isolate those bitches more.”

As Hayden spoke, Kolby flipped on the light switch next to him. Listening to the bullshit excuses flying from her mouth, the young man made his way across the room, he took a seat in front of her before pressing the bottle of whiskey to his lips. Taking another drink, Kolby sighed.

”You got lucky,” he said sourly. ”Delaney is nothing by herself - not magically. Serena on the other hand - that bitch would have literally set you on fire.” Upon further inspection of Hayden, Kolby could see how she was holding her arm at an odd angle. He could see the bruises on her face and body slowly fading one by one - but it was clear that Hayden had gotten her ass kicked. ”And I’m assuming that you already know what Erin can do,” he chuckled.

Hayden gave off a small huff of pain as felt her arm starting to set back into position. It was nice to heal, but it was an odd and uncomfortable sensation, feeling your bones reset. "I know I got lucky. It was my fault the fight escalated to magic. We were fighting hand to hand until I panicked and tried to stab the tall bitch with a flame dagger." She groaned once more as her arm twitched from the weird angle it was recovering from. "Sides, if it was one on one and non magic I could take all three. Only really challenge would be that tall one. Unlike the other two she actually knew how to throw a punch. She nearly dislocated my jaw with that uppercut. Pretty sure she hits harder than you do." As she finished speaking a smirk came on her lips. She opened her eyes to see Kolby drinking infront of her.

"Sides it's not like you can talk. You got into plenty of fights when you were bored. The number of times I had to pick you up from bars before the police came. This is how we get our kicks, me and you"

”The difference between the two of us is that I’ve matured, Hayden. I understand that there’s a time and place for things and you… you have no regard for anyone or anything but yourself. You want to talk about picking me up from bars? At least I came home. At least you knew where to find me. You're gonna sit there and act like you offered me the same courtesy?” Taking another drink, Kolby laughed evilly as he wiped the excess from his lower lip with his thumb. ”You’ll be lucky if the Coven even lets you stay in town. ‘Challenge’ this and ‘challenge’ that. Only hand to hand. You’re so fucking stupid. No fight in Tanner is going to stay non magical.”

”I think I will be alright. I spent some time with that Carlisle today, and thinking on it, I can wrap him around my finger. He ain’t going to get rid of me.” With that being said her arm was finally back into position correctly and Hayden was finally fully healed. ”Don’t start trying to act all high and mighty with me, otherwise I will have to knock you down. I know when to pick fights. I just underestimated who would get involved. And yeah… kinda forgot that they might resort to magic.” Hayden sat up on the chair properly now, taking a moment to test out the now pain free movement in her arm. ”I am surprised you let me come here alone with all these boys looking around and getting drunk. Normally you don’t like it when they look at me” She retorted with a smirk. Even when they had broken up the oh-so many times in New York, Hayden knew that all she had to do was just have a guy look at her in a suggestive way, and the next day the guy was either gone, or in the ER. Kolby could be a possessive SOB, and Hayden loved him for it.

The more Hayden spoke, the more Kolby drank. ”And I’m shocked that you don’t have a problem with me walking around with all these drunk women,” he retorted sarcastically, tossing up his free hand as he fell back into his seat. Looking at her, his eyes narrowed. ”You want to fuck Carlise? Go for it. Hell - Miles, Zach, Rowan, Daniel, Tristan - have ‘em all. I’m done.”

Hearing those last two words, Hayden knew she had reached her limit. She did owe Kolby for letting her come with him. She was in a lot of trouble back home, and he did save her from a tight, pretty much lethal encounter. She was in his debt, whether she liked it or not. ”Look…” She started with bated breath ”... Delaney knocked into me, my temper flared. I thought I had everything under control and then I got ambushed. By that point, I was too deep to back out, as that tall woman had practically towered on in. I tried to knock them all down so I could escape, but they were too strong. I then resorted to magic thinking it would back them off. I didn’t expect them to escalate.” She moved her head so she wasn’t looking directly at Kolby. ”It’s my fault. I fucked up. I should have owned it.”

”It’s not about who you fought, or how many, or how you did it. It’s the fact that it happened at all. And on the first night here!” Taking a moment to sort through his thoughts, Kolbys gaze stayed focused on the bottle in his hands. He cared about Hayden, but he was beyond tired at the messes that came with being with her. Kolby was a messy person - that much was true - and it was time that he started worrying about cleaning up his own bad habits. ”I asked you so nicely before we ever got on that plane to not start anything with anyone. Now look atchya.”

”I know you did! And I fucked up. I am sorry.” God that felt weird. Hayden couldn’t think of the last time she actually said sorry. Normally, the duo would end up arguing, break up, and then a day or two later, make up and get back to fucking again. Hayden was actually for once in her life, trying to put some kind of effort in. ”You know that I care only for you. I mean it” She said in hushed tones, still not quite comfortable acting the way she was. ”So where do we go from here? Not really got this far without one of us either shouting the other out or swinging for the other.”

”I don’t want to go anywhere if I’m going with you. I care about you Hayden - I do - and that’s never going to change. But you’re messy, petty, dramatic and honestly, a small party of you is just batshit crazy. I meant what I said, I’m done with whatever this is.”

Hayden’s heart sunk slightly. Her brain hadn’t quite registered what he had said or maybe it was denial. ”Okay then… I won’t get into any more fights in the coven, and I will do my best to grow up. Sound fair?” She asked, hopefully the answer she would get was a good one. Her eyes however drifted to his whiskey bottle, taking a mental note of how much he had drunk. Sadly it seemed Kolby hadn’t actually drunk enough to become wasted, so he was speaking honestly right now.

Standing up, Kolby stretched his arms over his head with a deep sigh before letting them fall back to his sides. ”I’m not sure why you’re consulting me on your plans anymore. But sure. Seems like a decent way to keep your nose clean.”

Hayden’s heartbeat began to get fast as he listened to his words and the proverbial penny began to drop. Her eyes grew wide as she looked up at him standing over her. ”Wait… no. no,no,no. Come on Kobly. I will do anything. 'Anything'. You are the only thing I have in this town.”

With a short laugh, Kolby looked down at her, making eye contact. It would have been clear to anyone that his anger was boiling just beneath the surface as the fire danced in his eyes. Inhaling deeply through his nose, Kolby tried to steady his nerves.

”Anything,” he had pondered, half questioned, letting the word settle on his tongue. ”Anything except making me look like a fool, right?” Taking another sip from the bottle, he scoffed. ”And you’re right, you know? About me being the only thing you have. That’s the only reason you’ve ever been with me Hayden; You just want what you can get and take from me.”

"I didn't mean to make you look like a fool!" Hayden replied back. Upset was slowly turning into anger, as confusion still reigned supreme in her mind. She was so unsure why Kolby was escalating this so quickly. Normally things have to get far worse than they did now before they had conversations about breaking up.

"That's not true. I have been with you because surprise, surprise, I actually like your company. You are interesting to hang out with and quite a caring person once you get past the toughest guy in the world facade" Hayden let out a depressed sigh. She could see his eyes and the fire burning underneath. That look she had seen before. There was a good chance that Kolby had made up his mind. She lowered her head, trying to hide the fact that tears were rushing to the edges of her eyes.

"And what do I do huh? I can't stay with you, I am pretty sure I won't be able to stay here in the coven. I can't go back home cause I will be killed. You are… Were I guess… the only piece of stability I had in this wretched world"

As Kolby stood there listening to Hayden's borderline plea to keep whatever it was between them going, he felt himself growing more and more apathetic by the second. Normally Kolby would seek to have this level of power over anyone - but when it came to Hayden he found himself no longer wanting it.

”Will you just stop, he growled through gritted teeth.
Hayden couldn’t quite work out the whirlpool of emotions that were going through her body right now. Sadness, regret, anger, resentment. All of them were mixing together to make the woman very unstable. In the matter of a single night, everything in her life had come crashing down. How did she even begin picking up the pieces? With a heavy, saddened sigh, Hayden looked down.

”Okay. Okay. I… will survive. I always do” She said with a self-depreciating chuckle, still looking down. ”I…am completely at fault.”

Rolling his eyes, Kolby turned on his heel and began to walk away from the sorry excuse of a human standing in front of him. He could no longer be bothered by whatever fit she was going though. Quite frankly, she was no longer his problem.

Opening the door with his free hand, Kolby didn’t bother to look back as he called out ”Have a nice life.”

Hayden crashed and slumped back onto the chair she had originally been sitting on. She laid her heads into her hands, and for what could quite possibly be the first time, she began to lightly cry and sob. Trying her best to avoid attracting attention from outside the room. Now what?

Stepping Into the Storm

Approaching Aurora, @WolfLover

Caitlin entered the house to the wall of sound from whatever brand of club music the DJ was blasting. The people inside seemed mostly oblivious to the fact that anything odd had happened; the barrier might has well have not existed to any of them. Cait, standing between the foyer and the dining room darted her eyes every which way through the swelling crowd of party animals.

There were only a handful of people that she could have stood to look for in that moment. Carlisle would have been on the top of that list; she remembered being told that he and his family were the ones most strongly connected to the barrier. Not seeing Car through the gaggle of people, she looked then for Lilith; she might have an answer, and having someone friendly to shadow felt right to Cait too.

Lilith wasn't around either.

For a second she thought about finding Daniel; the thought was dismissed almost as soon as it came. Cait shook her head.

Holding onto her breath, Cait weaved haphazardly around the others. Emerging from a pool of people, she was facing the doorway back to the veranda. But her attention was drawn instantly to a spot off to the side. There! Cait spotted Aurora, seeming beside herself. It was a peculiar, and altogether bothersome sight. For the short time Cait had gotten to know Rora, she had always been the level headed sort. If she was in a panic...

Cait shook her head again. She approached Aurora calmly, being sure she wouldn't sneak up on her. "Hey. Aurora?" She spoke just loud enough to cut over the music. Her calm facade masked the well of fear she felt inside; she felt she owed Aurora the same groundedness she had long projected. "What's going on?" She lowered voice a bit. "The Barrier is down... does Car know?"
