My Isekai Costumed Adventures
Synopsis:
One day, seemingly out of the blue, a small group of humans from our time and our earth are spirited away. Some might have been sleeping soundly in their bed, dreaming of whatever, while others may have been driving their car home from a late-night shift at their job. Others still might have been sitting at their computer playing a video game or just chilling infront of the TV while fiddling with their phone. The where and what they were doing isn't important, its what happened next.
For suddenly, they all find themselves in an unfamiliar forest, in an unfamiliar world... And just what the heck are they all wearing!? Stranded in a fantasy world of swords, monsters and magic, the group of modern-day humans must make their way in this strange new place, find a means to survive, and tackle the various challenges that come their way.
Plot:
This roleplay is heavily inspired by the Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear-series. Players will take on the role of a human from our time and our world, who gets isekai'd to a fantasy world, where the only thing they arrive with is... A silly costume. This costume can be anything from a playboy bunnysuit, a maid outfit, an easter bunny mascot get-up or a power ranger-cosplay, to things like a tiger-print bikini with accompanying tail and ears, a magical girl-ensemble or things such as a clown-costume or giant foam-head of some cartoon-character. What exactly they end up with only matters slightly, because the most important bit is... Your character really doesn't like wearing whatever you ended up with. For the sheer rason of it being embarrassing, uncomfortable, both or other reasons.
Unfortunately, the costume your character gets summoned into the other-world is key to their survival. As outsiders of the world, they aren't born with the abilities or properties of the people native to this place, and as such, cannot use magic or special skills or powers on their own. That's where their outfits come in. Their get-ups are all magical equipment that, when worn, bestow them the ability to wield things such as magic, perform superhuman feats of strength or agility, use powers that keep them alive and secure, and most importantly, protects them from potential danger and threats that would otherwise tear their soft, supple and squishy modern-day human bodies into mince-meat.
But the costumes have conditions. In order for the powers, skills or spells of an outfit to be at its full potential, the wearer must focus and create skills or abilities that keep to the theme of their wardrobe. For example, if someone wearing a santa-outfit wanted to cast a spell, they'd need to do something like hurl explosive christmas lights or conjure giant candy-canes to whack stuff with in order for it to do reach its maximum effect! Of course, you could just throw a regular fireball, but it would be significantly weaker. It seems even the abilities of these unfortunate transfered souls need to be as ridiculous as their clothes.
General Information:
While based on the show/manga/light novel, please note that you won't be anywhere near as overpowered or ridiculous as Yuna (the main protagonist). Instead, think of your costumes as a means to even the playing fields and allow your characters to 'function' and have a fighting chance in situations that require fight or flight - as, without them, you'd be screwed against even the most lowliest of threats. That said, with time and experience, you will grow stronger and develop powerful abilities. You just won't curbstomp every challenge thrown your way, 'cuz where's the fun in that?
Don't worry about wearing the same thing all the time though! Each costume coems equipped with an auto-cleaning and self-repairing function as part of the base, standard kit. They also have a "night-form" where they can turn into pajamas or other underwear-type things for wearing during sleepy-times... 'Cuz nobody wants to sleep in a bed while wearing a full-on whole-body mascot-costume... You might still wanna take it off when you visit the toilet though... Just saying.
Other then that though, your costumes start off pretty bare-bones. As you explore the world, fight things and complete tasks for the various inhabitants, you'll start gaining the ability to create and customize your gear. You'll get to make skills or spells that you can use while wearing your outfit, as well as be granted new passive or utility-based abilities or powers for free. Nice deal, right? Just remember, once you've made a skill/spell, you cannot change it. ANd if it isn't in theme with your costume, it won't be as effecitve or strong as it could be. However, its fully up to you to decide how to build your costume-powers otherwise.
Do note however, that at character creation you will need to pick a "class", so to speak. This is merely a means to help me decide what powers or passives to give your costume as you progress, as well as what its good or less proficient at. There are only a handful of classes though, more like archetypes or "paths" to choose from though, so don't worry. Just keep in mind that if you want to multi-class and do ALL the things and be a Jack/Jill-of-all-Trades, you won't ever be as good at things that someone else who focused solely on that point is. Just some food for thought.
Also keep in mind that this isn't meant to be a grimdark, super-serious, drama and bloodshed with betrayal and intrigue-kind of story. The main elements are going to be adventure, comedy and fantasy. With some action and elements of drama in certain main story-quests. But otherwise the setting and feeling I'm aiming for is light-hearted and fun.
F.A.Q.
Q: Who can we play as?
A: Humans from our modern-day earth and time.
Q: Can we play as natives of the isekai world?
A: No, because then you'd need and have information abot the world. I intend for you all to be completely blind and experience the world being completely blind and unfamiliar with it.
Q: Do we have to wear the costumes?
A: No, but you won't be able to use any of your cool spells, skills or pwoers if you don't.
Q: How many characters can we have?
A: Only one.
Q: How many players will there be?
A: I'm aiming for a sma toll group of at the most four people. Five with myself.
Q: Will there be a posting order?
A: No, you can post as much as you want as long as you're talking to another player charcter. You may only post once each 'round' when interacting with an NPC though.
Q: How long is a round?
A: One week. I will post a new IC-post every Sunday, or as soon as I can if all players have posted at least once for that week.
Q: What happens if I miss posting in a round?
A: Then you have until the next update to post something, otherwise, your character will mysteriously disappear, and nobody will remember their face or even interacting with them. Spooky~
Q: If I get kicked out, can I come back with my character?
A: Once a character is gone, its gone. You'd have to make a new one. But its very unlikely I'd let you rejoin unless you had a very good reason for disappearing without notice in the first place.
Q: What if I need to go out of town or otherwise become unable to post for a while?
A: As long as you inform me in advance that you need time off, that's perfectly fine. ... For a while. I'll keep your character as an NPC and have them mill about in the background. Though, if you're gone for than a month, I'll need you to update me on that front, and I might have to cut you loose to make room if there are any potential new applicants who want to join.
Q: Is PvP allowed?
A: Yes. But I'll be deciding the outcome of any sifht, PvP or PvE, based on my own judgement and the actions the players take during their post.
Q: So we can't insta-gib stuff? Even when we're more powerful?
A: Unless I make it very clear that what you're fighting doesn't present any sort of challenge or real threat, I'd prefer if you avoided stuff like auto-hitting or killing outright until I respond. Of course, I realize that rule of cool is very important when you have all these neat-o abilities, so don't worry, there will be times when you can flex and show off your awesome costumed capabilities.
Q: Are there any age restrictions on our characters?
A: You can be anywhere between 14 to 45 years old.
Q: Can our characters die?
A: That's very unlikely, but you don't have bullet-proof plot armor. But you'd have to do something extremely stupid or crazy to get yourselves killed in this particular RP.
Q: What happenjs if we die?
A: You.... Die...? Game oeer, man. Game over!
