"Professor at least make yourself more presentable..." A voice just off screen quietly interrupted the disheveled looking redhead.
"Tch, this is how I always look so they can get over it if they have a problem."
"By the way you have a meeting in thirty minutes."
"THANK YOU FRIEDA I am aware-ahem-" The woman in the video adjusted her hair only slightly. The disheveled lab coat was a bit too big for her and hanging off her shoulder slightly revealing that she was probably not wearing much more under neath and she didn't seem to care a bit for her public image. "We'll get this over with. Hi. I'm Camphor. I'm the leading Scientist in the Eidda region on documenting various pokemon habitats and-" Bzzt- the rather upbeat music in the background was abruptly cut off. "Goddamn it I don't care about any of that if you're getting this you already know all that."
"P-professor stick to the script we can't have another baguette incident!"
"Screw the script! Toss it in the shredder and make script pasta out of it for all I care! Better yet, blend it into a coffee so I can actually read it!" The woman walked over to the camera, grabbing it and pulling it up close to her face. "Look, you already know the deal if I'm sending you this. You. Byjerlfal. Next week! You work for me, now get your asses over here and I'll pay you and give you your trainer license and give you a pokemon to start you off with. Deal? Deal. If you're not here I'm sending Frieda to give you an invoice for WASTING MY TIME and that is VERY expensive!"
The video abruptly stopped.
Well, perhaps you should rethink working for this professor...?
Hello! Welcome to Pokemon: Dream! Creative title, I know. A roleplay created by me because I have problems not creating RPs and also a desire for a good pokemon one. I don't claim to be the one that can do it well, but I will certainly try! With that little intro over let me go ahead and just explain everything here as much as I can without getting to invovled.
Players are hired by the rather irate professor Camphor in the video message above to help document and catalogue the pokemon present in the Eidda region. In recent years the region has seen a large influx of pokemon that were once considered not native and she's looking to both figure out why and where all these new pokemon are coming from. She'll pay you. Lots of money. Not that you actually have to do too much with her. She'll be happy if you just catch and catalogue pokemon and never talk to her again.
That's the general starting premise, at least.
A brief history
The Eidda region. An expansive region consisting of a warm climate in the south full of forests both tropical and deciduous that is home to all sorts of pokemon that love the warmer temperatures. In the far north, a mountain range that in winter time is almost impossible to traverse without the aid of pokemon and is home to just as inhospitable pokemon. Sandwiched between the two extremes are the rolling plains of the Central region offering a temperate, idyllic environment to live in as long as one avoids the Crackling Valley storm plains.
Below I'll be adding hiders and some information about the regions. I'll be giving a brief overview of almost every major town and location marked on the map for creation purposes, but feel free to ask for more if you have need of it. Feel free to ask about any potential character ideas you have. I'm fairly open to quite a lot. I'm keeping quite a bit vague for now though, as part of the fun is discovery~
Byjerlfal City A sprawling metropolis and the largest city in Eidda. Located on the southern coast, its a sprawling city and home to everything someone could think of and where most of the large social and battling events take place. The main port for people looking to enter Eidda for tourist or immigration activities. The city itself is divided into the Commerce District, Industrial District, the Resort District, and Residential district and is set up in almost a circular fashion.
Notable attractions include a Gym located in the Resort district as well as the resort itself where trainers and others alike gather.
Wailport The warmest city in Eidda, located on the southern peninsula west of Byjerlfal. Its both a popular vacation destination due to its pleasant weather, sandy beaches, and a trade port. Located here is one of Eidda's two trainer schools. Its however, otherwise a rather sleepy and idyllic town where much of nature remains untouched. Many come through here on their way to Snowhelm.
Pines End A sleepy town located on the other side of Route 1 and the Winding wood. A secluded and rural town where nature and humans live together fairly closely. A small shrine is located here, attended to by a family of maidens and protectors but otherwise the city has nothing of note that would attract many people - but one can get a good nights sleep and rest after the forest at the rather large hotel that has been built here recently.
Peltra A lakeside town that was once a booming and wealthy place in the past, but after the Hydroelectric damn further upstream was abandoned the towns fortunes has slowly dwindled. Most trainers end up not lingering here as the people tend to not be too terribly friendly. Still, Peltra does have one location that people are still drawn too - specialized training facilities for pokemon to help encourage growth.
Giervor The oldest city in Eidda and supposedly was once the location of a castle of some old king. Located near the base of the northern mountains, the city gives off something of an old, gloomy feeling. The constant dark skies and it raining more often than not doesn't help such a feeling. The Eidda historical society is located here and many history loving types seem to treat it as a center for such things.
Snowhelm Located on an island on the east of Eidda, Snowhelm is a city built upon the steep hilly snowdrifts and into the rocky terrain of the island. A veritable winter wonderland where people dress warmly. A ski and pokemon resort is located not too terribly far away. Used to be a mining town, until the mine dried up.
Snowport A small village where a handful of people live. Mostly its just a port for those looking to get to Snowhelm to pass through. A number of shops, restaurants and similar things have been built up around here.
Seawatch point In the past, this was merely an outpost where a lighthouse was kept to watch over the seas for traveling ships. Over the years though, a town was built up around it, built into the cliffs. Cozy but constantly windy and cold, the city is difficult to get to but many consider it a sight to behold on their visit to Eidda.
Skyplain A city located on the edge of the Crackling Valley storm plains. The skies here are the last chance of blue one would see before heading north, as even Route 8 remains constantly shrouded by clouds from the Thunderpeaks. Warm in temperature the only notable feature one would see initially are old standing stones that no longer have meaning to those living there today.
Mireth A city split by the swampland it was built on. The northern part of the city is home to the main part of the city, a humid but lively and friendly city where the people love their music. South Mireth is more rural - and is where a number of pokemon labs are located.
Rivenwall A city located on a rocky island on the southern coast of Eidda. A large steel mill and manufacturing plant is located here - and is notably where a number of the ships in Eidda are constructed. A lively city that is always awake with the sound of construction equipment during the hot days and comparatively cool nights. Regular fighting tournaments are held here.
Tohjo City One of the two cities supposedly founded by immigrants from Johto ages ago. Built by their descendants its a rather closed off city, only accessible by taking the Tohjo road and following it through the underground passage that leads there. The people there are known to be a bit...difficult with outsiders. A large tower is located here, reaching into the heavens.
Kantona City The second city built by Immigrants from the Kanto and Johto regions. Much like Tohjo, its located on an island only accessible by the aid of pokemon or a ship. They're a bit friendlier than their cousins in Tohjo, but still maintain something of an aloofness with people not from their city.
Verlisa A city located deep within Eldergleam forest. The key feature of the city is a large tree that acts almost as a natural roof over much of the city. A quiet place where many fairy types live. If one manages to make their way through the forest they'll be greeted with open arms from the residents.
Rossaden A wealthy city where many of Eidda's elite and wealthy live. The second academy in Eidda is located here, and often those in Rossaden consider themselves to be quite artfully inclined. People here really don't like tourists. Still, this is the only port with a regular access and ship to the Nature reserve so some tourism is expected.
Honnington A garden city located in the plains and foothills of the mountains to the north. A massive place that prides itself on its verdant meadows, plantlife, and abundance of well, everything. The main contest competitions are here, and is usually where the finals are held.
Giants Watch An old mining town located high up in the mountains. The mine is still operational and where many materials for Eidda are still mined and shipped from.
Clarity Falls A city located inside of a cavern. Glaciers from the mountains feed into a large river that flows into a large, hollowed out cave. People decided to make this place their home in ages past, and it has remained as such. The water that flows here is clear and pure, and many say the glacier water has healing properties.
Kallet Town An odd city located in north of the region. Known as a floating city, its stuck between two outcroppings of land that were eventually connected by a series of bridges and boats. Primarily a fishing settlement, but also where main shipments to the Caldera outpost are located.
Ranorak City The city of Champions. The place where the Elite Four is located and the tournaments are held. A lively city where a number of Elite Trainers gather to live, battle, and constantly train themselves to seek heights of battle prowess.
Misc. Rules
Read or I'll have Giratina drag you to the shadow realm distortion world
1. Lowest Evo Line, level 5 2. No Pseudo Legends 3. Pokemon must evolve (Weird, yes, but it does cause some power scaling issues if your mon is already fully powered) 4. No shinies unless discussed with me and RNGesus says yes. Don't count on it. Everything else is up to my discretion. Best thing to do is ask beforehand if the pokemon might seem like it might not fit well.
You control one pokemon plus all your pokemon. I control the rest of the world. ALL Npcs and pokemon you do not own. I control the outcome of everything in situations involved NPCs and the world. That is to say, I control and determine the outcome of everything. I'll try and be fair, but rng will likely play a part sometimes.
Stats are more as guidelines here, simply determining what a pokemon is generally better at then another. Example is that a pokemon with higher attack than another, simply means that that pokemon is just a bit better at doing physical damage. So don't worry about being a metaslave. Choose pokemon you like or think is cool.
IVs/EV's generally won't be accounted for either, but perhaps there are special trainings present somewhere that could give a similar, slight advantage to stats should they be trained...
Expect legendary mon to be truly legendary. No one-shotting or a single pokemon being able to take down a legendary without an exceedingly good strategy.
Should on the likely chance PvP happens, you can either resolve it between yourselves and I'll reward appropriate exp and stuff once over or get me involved. If I do get involved I'll might ask everyone to either get on a collab so I can respond easier, or more likely just setup a battle channel in a discord where you can tell me your actions and what ya plan to do and I can arbitrate there in real time if needed to determine the results.
Travel through Eidda can be as eventful as one likes, or completely uneventful if one so desires. Generally speaking, in whatever area you are in I'll give you a few preset options to choose from.
1. Find Pokémon. Specify which pokemon you're looking for or just in general. Works best if you know that pokemon is in the area. 2. Train Pokémon. Skip the specific details of training against wild pokemon 3. Seek trainers. 4. Move along. Avoids interactions and gets you safely to next destination. 5. Random event. Make the GM give you something random. Go easy on me.
Now, while everyone will be starting together, I don't necessarily care if you all stay together. While I would urge some traveling together (Who doesn't wanna travel with a friend!) its not strictly necessary and if a group gets above three, well, some logistical things may happen. But if you are traveling together, also feel free to go onto and do you're own thing. We can just assume everyone met back up later.
Feel free to go off the map as well. Locations are just those generally known to the public and where most stuff happens in Eidda.
Results may vary.
There be dragons.
We are using, at the time of making this Roleplay, Scarlet/Violet movesets and general pokemon abilities. This will not change even if new pokemon games come out.
Pokemon will be assumed to know and have access to all moves of their level, that is to say a level 20 pikachu will know and have access to all of its moves up until level 20. This can be complemented by a Move Tutor or TM, which can teach a pokemon up to two moves they wouldn't normally know. You don't need HMs to do things like surf or climb rocks and they effectively don't exist here.
Abilities will be taken into account as much as possible, but some creativity might need to be applied when changing mediums.
Special evos like trading will be receiving a new method. Methods requiring an item can be assumed to still need said items. I won't say more than this.
Lets face it. We don't all wanna fight youngster joeys' Rattata every time we pass buy route 1. Generally speaking, I will give the option of speeding up fights and typically skipping them mostly completely if its either an assured win or likely to win. I'll lay out the trainers pokemon, and tell you what general strategy they will use and you will post your counter and strategy in kind.
unless some upset happens during the fight, these will likely resolve in a single posting round. The same can be done to quickly catch pokemon.
The Gym circuit in Eidda is fairly traditional. Eight gyms, eight badges. A trainer must collect all to be eligible to take part in the championship tourney.
A gym leader can refuse a challenger for whatever reason, but a reason must be given even no matter how flimsy. However, they are also required to give a trainer a way to prove themselves ready to challenge and if complete they are required to accept the challenge. This can be from beating gym trainers or to some other league approved method.
The league is, something like its Galarian counterpart, a spectacle and a tournament that people come to eagerly watch and spectate. A tournament where trainers must complete in several rounds of tournaments that take place over several days.
Mexatus Corporation: A company that took over the old Silph Co in Johto. Makes various goods for trainers from pokeballs, potions, and escape ropes. The CEO, one David Mexatus, is an affable business man and while he does desire profits, he disdains those who would exploits pokemon and the natural habitat. He has recently opened a reserve for pokemon in Eidda for those that were displaced or bought here illegally. This includes many regional pokemon that couldn't be found in Eidda such as Galarian variants or Paldean variants.
EnerCore: Energy Core - a power company that is looking into sustainable and renewable energy to help power Eidda for generations to come. Their leader isn't well known as he doesn't show his face all that often.
A rather curious phenomena has been reported happening occasionally with some increasing frequency across Eidda. People falling asleep for days, unable to wake. No doctor or anyone has been able to pinpoint the exact cause, chalking it up to a number of mundane factors. Most don't consider it threatening as most do wake after a few days, though none seem to recall anything during the time. As one might exepct.
Contests - A challenge of fashionably defeating and making your opponent ineffective through means other than directly damaging them. The contests are split into five categories. Beauty, Strength, Coolness, Cleverness, Cute.
After an introductory segment where contestants make an impression on the judges and audience, The main contest begins. They consist of two sets of battles for four rounds of mock-battles where each contestant competes in a single contest category, with the goal of gaining ‘points’ from the judges and continuing until each trainer has fought all the other contestants. The final round is a double battle designed to test a trainer's teamwork with another with the category of contests unknown.
Points are gained for sticking to the category of the battle. Points can only be lost for directly using a damaging move against an opponent.
‘Winning’ the contest is achieved by achieving the highest average of points over all categories. Smaller trophies and victories are given to those who excel in single attributes. While judges scoring counts for most, the audience can also vote for their favorites to influence the outcome of the results.
The stage for each battle can also change. Such as using props/elements of the terrain to give advantage.
For example:
Four contestants 1 v 2 (Coolness) 3 v 4 (beauty)
2v3 (Cleverness) 1v4 (Cute)
3v1(Strength) 2v4 (Cleverness)
Double battle round 1&2 v 3&4 (Judges pick)
Johto/Kanto About a decade ago, an unknown phenomena was making pokemon more aggressive/more violent in the region of Johto and Kanto as a whole. During this time the number of trainers would steadily dwindle due to incidents where even trainers pokemon would become extremely volatile and aggressive, even those that had no such behavior before.
About three years ago it would come to light that this was the result of an organization referred to and that called themselves simply as Nemesis whose sole mission was to drive a wedge between humans and pokemon, using them as little more than beasts of burden and creatures that were far to violent for most of humanity to interact with - aside from them of course. They achieved this by repurposing, expanding, and modifying old tech that team rocket used in Johto in the past.
Eventually their plans would fall to pieces thanks to the concerted effort of a small group of trainers, the International Police, and the Elite four and the regional Champion.
Two of the trainers that aided in stopping this plot would eventually go on to challenge the league, one, a young trainer by the name of Ashton managed to win. The other one a runner up would find themselves becoming a rookie agent within the International Police and quickly rising through their ranks before vanishing about a year ago.
And there you have it. I think that should be good enough to give everyone an idea of what's going on here. I'm still tinkering with some things admittedly so some things might get added to or made later. For now though, I think its fine. The CS is below.
I'd like everyone to mostly already be from Eidda unless you discuss it with me beforehand as depending on the region I may need to give some background information. Just lemme know generally what you're planning. (Simple stuff like who the current champion is, important events going on if any are relevant etc.)

Well, Theyra convinced me to look into this and hey I might as well. Thinking of a researcher from Sevii Islands, daughter to well...two research assistants. Very normal when you don't have much else to do aside from hang out with the people at Trainer Tower. Would this be alright?
EDIT: By the way, there are two Route 44s, one Kantona City-Sunken City, one at the Mexatus Institute. Was this erm...on purpose? If so I approve.
Unfortunately, no this was not intentional. Just me making a mistake. Whoopsie. I'll fix it when I'm not working.
As for the character idea, that generally sounds fine. I'll need to give a bit of background info for Johto/Kanto here since a few important things happened in the regions in universe. Mostly stuff involving your stereotypical villain organization and champion/E4 stuff.
Ah I see. Well she's going to be pretty dern isolated from most of that stuff, being on Seven Island, but I suppose one or two things may have floated her way. Will try to fluff up bio a bit more today, wait on that info from you to integrate it, before posting the app. By the by, question since I am entirely new at this site. The characters thread is only for accepted characters right? We still post here to get them accepted before throwing them into that thread?
Currently at work but ill shoot ya that info later tonight
Might be a good idea to put it in the ooc opener come to think of it.
To answer your question though, put finished cs' here in the OOC for review. Once accepted and i post confirmation that they are good and accepted you can then post in the character tab.
@Vertigo Welcome aboard boyo looking forward to it. Ill get those who arent already there a link to the discord tonight.
So, I didn't put this here original as I was hoping people would be more central and native to the region, and I wasn't planning on making a huge reference to the events listed below. This RP is technically a sequel to the very first RP I ran on the guild ages ago. It didn't last very long but I liked the setting a number of the characters I came up with and expanded on it from there.

Hopefully, this helps and this lore dump doesn't affect people too terribly much. I'll be posting it to the OOC above along with some other perhaps relevant regional information once I get more free time.
Hopefully this is enough. I gave a more general overview but if you have any more specific questions let me know.
Tohjo City. A city located on a small island off the western coast of the Eidda Peninsula. Much of the city is constructed in traditional Johto architecture, and most people dress similarly - almost as though it was a slice of history kept frozen in time, untouched by the greater world. The city itself, while not particularly large, is lively and constantly alive with the bustle of people here despite its isolated nature - only accessible through the Seawalk caverns or via a flying taxi of some sort. Many fire, flying, and earth type pokemon from the Seawalk caverns can be found living among the city and residents as well.
The people here are just as traditional as the architecture. The most notable feature of the city is the massive tower which stands above all. A place of cultural significance and heritage, its the sight of most festivals and happenings in the city. The largest, is a dance where Kimono clad women dance in a reenactment of a great battle that happened ages ago between a guardian deity and the sea. Supposedly this deity can be summoned atop the tower, yet no one is allowed up there and the guards will throw anyone out without the Elders Permission.
They have something of a rivalry with Kantona city. Rumors abound of a secret war between the two cities, but its probably just all nonsense.
Standing at 5’ even, Isla’s sparse frame is well-tanned and rather athletic for her age. Used to the outdoors, her hands are somewhat calloused and her smile has creased her face at a rather early age. She keeps her brown hair, which rarely meets a professional barber, is a loose and messy ponytail. Isla’s green eyes rarely seem to see the light of day, smiling as often as she does, though they do seem to constantly dart from one object to another. Likewise, her hands often are at play with any small item she can pick up on the go, such as stones, constantly turning them over and over in the palm of her hand or feeling the differences between smooth portions and the edges.
Age: 16 Gender: Female Personality:
Moving would be the key word to describe Isla. Intensely curious, there is little answer which satisfies her aside from a complete answer. To this end, she constantly is searching through whatever environment she’s in, looking off at the ocean during boat rides to see the various Pokémon, listening in the distance when walking through places such as Sevault Canyon, and having a notebook and pencil in her hands. Whenever not looking through at Pokémon, she could be found to be fidgeting with a rock she’s somehow acquired, playing with loose threads on her jacket, or tapping out an irregular rhythm with her feet. If overwhelmed, which has rarely happened in her life, Isla tends to absolutely tune-out from her environment entirely, blasting loud music with her headphones and avoiding eye contact.
When talking with others, she tends to err on asking too many questions rather than asking not enough. Isla finds other people interesting in nearly every way, as they have lived elsewhere, done other things, and so on. There is a significant barrier, in her mind and manner, before she begins such interrogations as they need to be her friend, so she does not precisely prattle off to every shopkeep she runs across. To her friends, however, Isla is nearly a menace whenever a topic is come upon which she is not entirely familiar with and the other is. Her sense of planning is likewise interrogative, requiring information on every step of the way and little in the way of improvisation.
Hometown: Seventh Island, Sevii Islands Background:
Born in the Sevii Islands near Tanoby Ruins to a pair of research assistants, Isla’s life would largely revolve around the same things as her parents. From an early age she grew to appreciate and be around Pokémon, though not necessarily be close to them or train them; her parents made it exceedingly clear that Pokémon should do, generally, as Pokémon naturally do and that interfering with such was simply wrong. From that young of an age, it was also simply due to the exceptional aggression which many of these Pokémon displayed. She would visit Trainer Tower several times, though it would eventually be shut down due to an incident where a Typhlosion destroyed two floors and forced an evacuation. The incident would highlight the growing trend in Pokémon to all, driving Isla’s parents to further study to determine what may be causing the rise in violence.
As time went on, eventually they began to teach her how exactly one studies Pokémon in the wild, on the shores or in the less hostile portions of Sevault Canyon, something to which she took to quite naturally and with similar enthusiasm. Isla would even venture down along the coast, though never venturing too far as even experienced Trainers became more wary of mere travel. How Pokémon were was a world all on its own and, in peeking in, she saw a grave issue at play. It was something to be fixed, making her want to follow in her parents footsteps even more. For a time, even the Seagallop ferries would be shut down due to several attacks.
The conclusion to such events would come when she turned thirteen, a group known as Nemesis which operated in further-off Kanto and Johto, one which had been using the distant islands as their testing grounds for new methods of control. Such would be remedied by the efforts of, at least in the Sevii Islands, the International Police with Isla’s parents helping to determine the exact locations of the Nemesis base in the region. She too would play a small part in this, mainly in the collection of rock samples in some parts of the island for chemical signs of the group’s tampering. The return to normal would come slowly, as the methods which Nemesis had employed were cleaned out from the ecosystem, though the local Pokémon Centers would work at maximum capacity to help heal Trainer Pokémon. The Trainer Tower would open ahead of many other services, though in time Seagallop would begin usual operations.
Eventually, as she got older, her parents decided that the very limited experiences on Seven Island were simply not enough for their daughter and that she needed to go out into the real world. There was more to life than just a few buildings and nature and, besides that, they worried that Isla would grow too accustomed to how things were done back home, that if she ever had to go to a city she would have a panic attack. Already to her a crowd was three people. Though they already were looking for opportunities for her to go and explore the world outside, through the grapevine of other researchers word came that Professor Camphor was interested in assistants. Along with that was of course some minor warnings on her tendencies and potential issues, but Isla’s parents figured that their daughter would not be working directly alongside the Professor and, as such, anything like that would be an occasional issue at best. With a few recommendations, courtesy of the International Police, they made inquiries to the Professor via normal channels and in due course she set off on the several days long journey there, taking the Seagallop to Viridian City before catching the cruise liner, paid by the Professor, to Eidda and Byjerlfal City. After a few months, at a not-so-insubstantial amount of anxiety, she would finally arrive in the city with the rest of the prospective employees.
Kind of Pokémon you like:
Isla prefers to judge Pokémon, in her likeliness to want to keep them, by their personality; to her, the best are playful or cuddly, with aloof, stand-offish, and aggressive Pokémon simply not a good fit for her. She does have a catch-and-release policy with the vast majority, believing that the Pokémon should also have an actual desire to be with her rather than it being her decision alone with the Pokémon having to “grow to like her”.
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other:
She possesses a small talent in rapid pencil sketches which, generally speaking, are quite accurate to whatever she is using as a model though she does absolutely chalk it up to her own long years of practice. Generally speaking, Isla aspires to be the best researcher she can be, to learn things about Pokémon no one else has before discovered, and to grow to understand them even more than she does now.
Items:
1 x Potion
Pokédollars: 1000p
Species: Eevee Appearance:
Dancing possesses a noticeably thicker collar of fluff around his neck which resembles more of a large, wispy white cloud than anything else. He often buries his head into this cloud while asleep. In addition, his ears are somewhat shorter than normal and have white tips, ending around a quarter of the way down the length of the ear.
Level: 5 Gender: Male Type: Normal Ability: Anticipation Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Covet, Growl, Helping Hand, Sand Attack, Wish Personality and Nature:
Despite his name, Dancing is quite the lounger. If there isn’t something happening which is interesting, he is sleeping or perched up on Isla’s shoulder. Whenever she sits, he tends to fall asleep in her lap. If other Pokémon try to play with him, he tends to play dead or look up at them with a very, very blank face. Pokémon battles, to him, are merely rude interruptions between his naps and ones with which he tries to deal with as rapidly as possible. Somehow, Dancing does wake up mere moments before any food is ready and is perfectly energized to eat it. In other words, he is living his absolute best life possible.
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other:
Dancing does not snore, or make really any noise at all, while sleeping. He also tends to not move whatsoever while asleep should he help it.
