MAIN GOAL ⫻ Finn's main goal is to find his place in the world and to find someplace where he can fit in. Not an easy task but one where Finn is determined to do. However, he is not sure when he will find his place and fit in after years on the road. But he is still certain that he still can and it is possbile for him to fit in somewhere. He just needs to find it. But with the death of Bella, Finn current goal is to find out who Father Wolf is and end him. For revenge for taking Bella from him and end his reign of terror.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ For years, Finn felt like an outcast for not being human, even if his peers did not treat him as such. But he feels that everyone has a place in the world and he just needs to find his place and where he can truly fit in and be happy. Maybe even feel like he is human rather than a Abominable. Still, he is hopeful and determined even after losing his parents and Bella.

SECRETS ⫻ Finn, despite how he seems, he has not quite gotten over how his parents died. A lingering sadness in his soul as he remembers their last battle and the sounds of it. Sometimes, he has nightmares about it and it always ends with him looking at their dead bodies. He has not told a soul, even Bella how he feels about it truly. Along with hating himself for not being there for Bella and not protecting her from Father Wolf. Making his hate for Father Wolf sometimes turn inward against himself for failing to save Bella.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Straight, but Finn has only been in two relationships when growing up and has not been in one since.

FEARS ⫻ Not being able to find his place in the world and living as an inhuman outcast for the rest of his life. Never truly fitting in or finding someone who treats him like a normal person besides Bella.

REPUTATION IN OLD COVEN ⫻ Finn while with the Coven, was on somewhat good terms with most of the members and was helpful to them. But for the most part, they barely treated him like a person, more like a thing due to him being a Abominable. Only Bella treating him right and he did not make any friends within the Coven but no enemies.

ROLE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE STYGIAN SNAKE ⫻ Finn served in a frontline support role during the battle. Tanking magic attacks from the serpent and his minions while buffing his fellow coven members. It was a great strain on his Emotional-Field, and he nearly lost unconscious during the battle after getting several times from Abominables when his Emotional-Field was weak.

FLAWS ⫻ Knowing that he is an Abominable and not human makes it hard for him to connect with a human. Mainly how his parents raised and since growing up. He has only made one connection with a human and has not made one since. Which has been made difficult with him traveling alot and not settling down in a place. Though if one insults him for being a Abominable or treats him like a thing to be commanded. Then he will get angry and will be cold to that person.

Finn did not have a normal childhood, nor was he destined for one. For he is an abominable, but rather created, he was born to a pair of abominables. His parents were created by a warlock named Sebastian Koin. His parents were created as bodyguards/assassins and while they did this well, both of them wished to be freed of Sebastian. Which the pair made to free themselves of Sebastian after they managed to apparently kill him. After this, the pair fled to the West Coast of the United States, where they would make new identities for themselves.

Now free and able to live their lives to how they want. The pair settled in St. Portwell, Oregon, took the family name Holmes, and had a child named Finn. Finn, from a young age, was taught about who he is and how to blend in with humans. A task that, while he did kinda good in, it made him feel like an outcast since, while he looked human, he is not human and could never be one despite how much he tries.

Things were looking good for Finn and his family. This changed when he was ten when as Sebastian would make an unexpected return, and his parents hid Finn before they fought with Sebastian. In the end, his parents were killed by Sebastian, and their house was ruined. Leaving Finn devastated and unsure of what to do.

Now, on his own, Finn would find himself wandering around St. Portwell, where after a chance meeting with a young witch named Bella Reid after she dealt with an apparition. She discovered who he is and after Theo told her his story. She took pity on him and decided on taking the young abominable in after convincing her family to adopt him. Now Finn Reid to better hide himself from Sebastian if he ever returns. Theo was unsure of his life with Bella for a time, but the young witch would treat him like a member of her family. Like a fellow human, that is something that Finn would never forget.

When the Stygian Snake arrived in town, it brought with it chaos. Finn and Bella, would join the Sycamore Tree Coven after contacting one of its members and Finn would work alongside Bella battling the sepent's minions. Which it did feel weird to him, battling fellow abominables, but Bella helped him to get through it. When the final battle between the coven and the Stygian Snake happened. Finn was on the front lines doing what he could, and the snake was sealed away. He agreed to have his memories erased to where the Stygian Snake was sealed.

Now Finn had his own problems with the Coven, like them barely treating him like a person, and had other issues he had with them. But when Bella left the Coven for her own reasons, Finn left with her. He did not feel that bad when over it, and after leaving the coven. Both he and Bella would focus on their mundane lives, and when Bella moved out. He went with her, and he started to explore humanity. While he is not human, that does not mean he can not try to understand them.

After a while, he moved out of Bella's place and started this journey to understanding humanity, but he would keep in contact with Bella. For years, he traveled America and doing odd jobs to get by. But, one day, that all came to an end when he learned of Bella's death. Heartbroken, Finn did not take Bella's death well, and when he learned the details of her death, combined with the call to return to the Sycamore Tree Coven. He answered the call mainly to find Father Wolf and get his revenge. Finn has lost his family twice, and he will not give up until Father Wolf is in the ground.

ABSTRACTION ⫻ Finn has a overcharged Emotional-Field giving him an inherent resistance to all magical attacks but is harder for healing and other positive magic to work on him.

Boosting ⫻ Finn is able to boost another person's Emotional-Field temporarily at the expense of his own.

Extend ⫻ Finn is able to extend his Emotional-Field to include two others, giving them added protection for a limited time but not as strong as boosting, and it even works on the Blind.

Supercharge ⫻ Finn can temporarily increase the strength of his Emotional-Field even futher, making him more resistance to magical attacks, but once it is over. His Emotional-Field is temporarily weakened, and it will time before it will recover and leaving him exposed to magical attacks.

LIMITS ⫻ Finn's abstraction is limited by how strong his Emotional-Field at any moment. Using it to boost someone's Emotional-Field will make his weaker for the duration of the boost. While he can extend his Emotional-Field to cover others, it can only reach two people who are close to him, and he is not boosting anyone's Emotional-Field during this. Simply extending his stronger Emotional-Field over two others. When Supercharging, while it makes his Emotional-Field stronger for a time, once it is over, his Emotional-Field is weakened before it can recover, leaving him exposed to attacks. Which while he does have a stronger Emotional-Field by default, attacks can still get through, and if they can get through, that means the attack will be more damaging to him. Especially if it gets past while in supercharge mode. Plus, due to his Emotional-Field being stronger then normal, positive magic like healing magic is harder to work on him.

Bella was the only child of the Reid family and a native of St. Portwell. Bella, for the most part, was a social butterfly who was quick to make friends with people and was a compassionate person. But one thing about her was that she was a person who rarely gave up and tended to stick up for other people. Even when it came to fisticuffs. She had her Kindling Event at a young age when her parents revealed themselves to be magic users and taught her how to use her magic. Becoming a Orange Lux and becoming quite proficient with her magic.

When she was young, she was attacked by an apparition, and after the fight. She discovered the young Finn, who was in a bad state. After Finn told her who he was and what happened to him, she took pity on him and brought him back to her house. Which after a lengthy talk, she managed to convince them to adopt him. Seeing how a Abominable would be in better care with them than with the state. Beginning a friendship that would make the Finn and Bella close.

When the Stygian Snake arrived in town and killed her parents. She was set on battling the beast, and when learning of the Sycamore Tree Coven and their mission to defeat the serpent. She and Finn joined the Coven and would do battle several times before Stygian Snake was finally defeated. But, while she tried to stay in the coven but at one point, it became clear that being in the coven was not worth it, and she left with Finn in tow. Now, she and Finn focused on mundane life, with her going to college and studying criminology for a career in law enforcement. She and Finn always stayed in touch.

Bella was found murdered in her apartment after a big bust, with clear signs that she had fought back but failed to defeat her murderer. Finn was devastated over her death.

Bella is an Adept Orange Lux user, and her Channeler is her mother's necklace.
Ashrune Bella could summon a magic sword that she named Ashrune and was able to hurt Paranormal Beings with it.

More Power Bella was able to boost the power of a person's magic, making it stronger for a limited time.

Stronger Bella was able to make any time she holds on to stronger and but the strength go away when she stops holding it.

Sebastian Koin is a man who takes pride in his work and is an ambitious individual. For he comes from a long line of Gold Lux users, and his parents are pales shadows in comparison of his family's legacy despite being rich. As they were both severed their Lux and forbade themselves and Sebastian from using magic. Something that he did not agree with, and secretly triggered his Kindling-Event. Gaining his Golden Lux and learning spells. He is set to regaining his family prestige any way he can. Which he started by joining the Elite. While he did stay with the group for some time and discovered some ways to become more powerful. The whole thing just annoyed him with how the Elite was run and the constant arguing, and he realized how pointless the group was. So he had enough and left the Elite, wishing he had never joined it, and using his family's wealth, he started his own study of magic.

Which by the time he was thirty five, he had learned more spells and was making a name for himself in the magic community. Becoming less concerned with his family's prestige and more about his own. Becoming ruthless in his quest for power and gained enemies in the process. So he created two Abominable to serve as his bodyguards/assassins and treated them like they were his property and not even giving them proper names. Along with starting to use his minions to do his dirty work while he commanded from afar. Which worked smoothly for a while until said Abominables rebelled and almost killed him. After he recovered and tracked them down. He personally killed them after they were weakened by his minions and ruined what was left of the house.

Later, an "accident" killed his parents, and he inherited their wealth. He is still set on becoming more powerful despite some setbacks, and his next stop is St. Portwell for his quest while wearing his signature suit and hat.

Summunor Sebastian is able to summon apparitions that he defeated and has a catalog of different apparitions. It currently has seven that range from basic apparitions to some powerful ones.

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Edict's life has been spent scraping together attention from people who he assumed would never give him the time of day. The desire to accrue currency and power was always going to be a tributary desire, a means to the ultimate end of respect and love from his peers and superiors. In a different life, Edict could've been a teacher's pet or a brown nosing middle manager of some banking firm... But, he had criminals to appeal to. The attention was never going to be worth the heat that it brought, or at least in the traditional sense. With his options so deep underground you need a precinct wizard to find them, he's managed to garner that kind of respect and love from his peers he's always craved. So what's left? Seeing how far he can really push things... He imagines that, one day, he'll have a family. And they'll have a family. And after them, a dynasty built on the back of his hard work and good luck. Don Devola has a nice ring to it.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ As was quoted, bad blood makes bad business. While most of his time until now has been spent with one hand on a stack of bills and another on a telephone, his main function has been that of the warm little center of a group of people who owe their livelihoods to Edict and the Devola family. Regardless of his own enterprises, he's a big name in consultation work, always willing to settle a dispute with a fair hand and accepting attitude. Hence his nickname, as a ruling from Greyson Devola is good as God's own edicts. He looks at everything from both sides of the fence, constantly listening and watching and observing those around him to ensure that he always knows how to position himself for his personal intervention. All of it has been in service to his personal philosophy, and the idea that there's plenty of action for everyone to break off their own piece.

SECRETS ⫻ What isn't Edict hiding? A deep desire for power? A jaded opinion of the Sycamore Coven? He felt cast aside after those dark days. Once the question of how he was funding their operations came into light, Edict was an instant Pariah unfit for further necessity. They'd go broke before they needed him, and with that a great deal of trauma and angst would be locked up as he cast aside whatever sort of good parts those people had placed within him. Years of eating up their emotions, trying to be the warm little center he always knew he could be: He's a cold brick now. Cordiality is a porcelain facade painted thick across his face as he returns to St. Portwell where even his family had long since moved away.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Edict is, as far as business is concerned, a pansexual who is happy to use intimacy and private moments as another tool in the arsenal of a Smooth Operator.

FEARS ⫻ Federal investigation aside, Edict is in a constant state of concern over whether or not he's in the process of taking his last breath. Using his Lux in such frequency, and the tendency for supernatural beings to attract one another, he's constantly looking over his shoulder for the proverbial hitman that could punch his card with a magic bullet and not think twice. Between members of the Sycamore Coven whom he may have intentionally or unintentionally burned, organizations like Dollhouse who operate in similar circles but outside the purview of La Cosa Nostra and the Wiseguy's Code and any number of other Underground cults and bands of ranting sycophants, he's got a list of enemies taller than himself.

REPUTATION IN OLD COVEN ⫻ Things were always a bit rocky between Edict, known then as Greyson, and the Sycamore Tree Coven. Certainly, none of the inner circle trusted him enough to let him in due to the nature of his connections, but they were happy to take his offer whenever a ritual needed some hard to find ingredient or money was necessary for supplies and materials. After the battle with the Stygian Snake, a series of break and enters swept across St. Portwell: Some Coven members were among those who had their possessions ransacked and stolen, and while there was no evidence that he was involved, it was assumed that the mastermind was Greyson. Artifacts gathered over several years of preparation, even something stolen from Ashley Stone herself, seemed to be targeted and picked out as if the individual committing the crimes knew their locations. With nobody else but Greyson to blame, he was banished from the Coven and turned back into the waiting arms of his criminal background.

ROLE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE STYGIAN SNAKE ⫻ As stated, a great deal of Edict's contribution was resource-based in nature. They needed places to keep things, to hide themselves, to get away from the stress of it all and cut loose for five seconds... He supplied it. Disguises made of clothes off stolen trucks, books burgled from library museums that should've never been given to magic teens, weapons for self defense, the list of what he could get them simply from having the family connection was tremendous. In those days, he felt necessary. Like he had a purpose, even if he was on the outs. It wasn't until it was all gone from underneath him that he became jaded.

FLAWS ⫻ Most likely, everyone would have experienced Edict's tendency to try and ply his Lux smoothly and inconspicuously as possible upon them. He was, and to this day still is, absolutely addicted to the feeling of successfully using and applying the effect of his Lux as it stands. Most, if not just about all of the relationships in his life to this point are incredibly unhealthy cycles of gradual exposure to the "high" that Edict is known for giving the people around him. Some describe it as charm, others an aura, but all mundanes he interacts with will feel his manipulation before he even opens his mouth to speak to them. To a mortal, it may be endearing and they may never notice their mindsets being shifted... Hell, if they did, they may be thankful for the pick-me-up. But in interactions with other Paranormals, its more than annoying. It's easy to know full well when someone is trying to prod at a weak spot, and his propensity to do so instinctively rather than reactively makes being around him somewhat taxing, especially once one realizes they need to worry about what he's saying just as much as what his energy is doing.

Born to Luigi Devola and his mistress Anette Bell out of wedlock, Greyson had a questionable future from the very beginning. As acting Consigliere of the North-Western Outfit, Luigi already had a family and children from his legitimate marriage, and so Greyson was initially kept apart from the family until Devola divorced and was able to take Anette Bell as his bride. With her, Greyson came into his Father's house as the youngest of five children. He was treated poorly by his siblings who slowly but surely began to come around their father less and less until he was practically an only child. It was a rocky situation, losing his children to his ex and looking at his situation filled Luigi with regret as his men below him looked up at their boss with contempt for his actions. To save face, he sent Greyson to live with his brother in St. Portwell where he'd begin to learn the family business in a more intimate light. Luigi would often visit his son, though had little to say about the boy's mother who he typically avoided any questions about.

By the age of ten, Greyson was doing what all good Mafia children do; number running, car washing, shoe shining and generally being an errand boy for any number of soldiers who would be coming through his family's social clubs. Chief among them, "The Brick Harbor", where the Devola family would meet to discuss any sort of business and current affairs. Greyson saw his father here more than in any sort of home setting, and from those influences around him gained a sense of self and an understanding of who he wanted to ultimately be. Just like them, he wanted the flashy car and then jewelry and the suits... But even more, he saw what his Father really had. Loyalty, respect, love of his people. Even he came to feel that way about the man whose laughter echoes in his head to the current day. He began to crave that kind of thing, and quickly took to his charms. He was always listening to people when they spoke, asking questions about why they said things more often than he did about what they were saying. He understood perfectly well, and had a grip on doublespeak before he was allowed to swear openly.
Slowly, surely, Uncle Devola guided the boy with input from Luigi toward the ultimate goal of a well tuned money making machine. Every day, numbers and logistics operations were driven into his brain with such frequency that he began to dream of trucks and jobs and scores. The lifestyle was in front of him every waking moment; school was secondary. Tertiary even. He only showed up to scam kids his age out of their parents' money. Massive toy discounts, boxes of sodas, food delivered at lunchtime right into the cafeteria, he made things happen for people and they paid him to get them. It was foolproof, and for a young teenager the feeling of having a shoebox full of money under your bed is unbeatable.

And then he got "pinched". At fifteen, it was only natural to transition into harder substances, and he was caught with a parcel of drugs on the high school campus. Possession with intent to distribute... He was sweating bullets from the time they moved on him to the very moment those detectives sat down across from him. His family had taught him the score: Keep your mouth shut. As they began to question him about where he got the stuff and about what his family's involvement was, Edict was filled with a recent memory. A family associate made it home from his stint in jail, came back to a big welcome home party at the Brick Harbor. His mind was enraptured by the sights and sounds: Everyone was so pleased and eager to treat the guy like royalty. His Father himself made a speech about loyalty to the code, La Cosa Nostra, and called the man "Just the kind of man I want behind me."
It was high praise, especially coming from Luigi Devola. A well of love and tender feelings, sick as they may have been in origin, began to course through Edict until the whole room was awash with pink. His Kindling Event was upon him, and as the room faded into the soft pink color, a face came to him. Maybe an approximation. Her voice was warm, Caribbean, like a morning on a beach. This potential was never going to be from his Father's bloodline... It had to be hers. His mother, who he barely knew, contributed to him the potential for magic he had never dreamed of. They spoke, and the woman told him to seek his mother. To find her and be whole again.

When next he came to, he was in his father's limousine. There were burns around his mouth, his throat feeling like charred meat. He swallowed, and instinctively his body began the process again. The limo filled with amiability, and through such manipulation, Edict could as questions of his father that he never imagined. It was the first time he'd changed the dynamic of a relationship through magic, and though it was a painful experience he began to understand the fact that he had power. For starters, the power to find out what had happened all those years ago... That Luigi was embarrassed, and that he regretted taking Anette and Edict into his home, and that he only felt it was right at the time because he truly thought he was in love. He couldn't force a severance now, however, and Edict's love for his Father would never change. He had to understand; after all, it damaged his image. At fifteen, Edict made the choice to be useful, and continue to try and find love through that lens.
His reunion with his mother came quickly as Luigi brought Edict to her. She had her own apartment in Portland, where Edict stayed for a few months. As it turned out, she had experienced her own Kindling shortly after being exiled from Luigi's life. Their connection to the shamanistic cultures of the Old South was made clear to Edict, and he studied under the tutelage of his Mother until a time where he was able to utilize his abilities traditionally through a Channeler. Naturally inclined for emotional and mental manipulation, Edict began developing spells with the love of his family and his lifestyle in mind, amassing a twisted book of a criminal's favorite things.

Of course, when he returned to his life in St. Portwell, he did what any superpowered teen could be expected to do: He tried using them. First, on marks and people who owed collections to his family. It was easy to get the money from people who were trained to see him as a good guy, and he tweaked their mundane minds to soak them for as much as he possibly could. Then, it was only natural to go to school and get things taken care of. Attendance records were cleaned, grades were fabricated, dependencies were built. He was a local menace until one fateful night. The Stygian's call gripped him, attempting to claim his soul for its own power. Toyed with him for what felt like eternity until something forced it to release him. By this time, he had already run somewhat afoul of the members of the Sycamore Tree Coven, and with few options he decided to help them in exchange for inclusion, as he naturally believed that safety in numbers would be his best way of avoiding troubles like that.
He fell back, playing to the idea of making himself useful, and provided the Coven with the sort of logistical power that was necessary to acquire artifacts and ritualistic reagents through his Carribean Connections by way of his Mother. Money, material, safe places, he was able to provide it all to the Coven per their agreement. And when it was time to finish things, he was there alongside them in the end, utilizing his power in order to suppress the inherent nerves and fears that come with fighting a God. Essentially, he was a group wide sedative. And when it came time to forget the tree, it was his ritual that was used to purge it from their minds.

He imagined they'd be his new family forever; a family he chose and had the chance to be something for. But, once everything was said and done, he began to receive the cold shoulder. It was clear to him; his services were no longer necessary to the Sycamore Tree Coven. So, in defiance of this, he tried to hold Channelers and other artifacts for ransom, hoping that once he had their attention he'd be able to truly explain his point... But, things didn't work out that way. Nobody was willing to play ball. Some were happy their Channelers were gone, so they had an excuse to escape the Coven themselves. Others simply shifted their focus, passing the attachment to another article that was equally important. Though there was little physical evidence to pin the actions on Edict, there was plenty of circumstantial evidence that gave those presiding members reason to give up on him.
At the end of his senior year, Greyson was excommunicated from the Coven, and without mincing words he was told to leave town. Whether it was respect, fear or boredom that drove him over the Cascades was unclear, but after taking another month to get his affairs in order, he was gone. Headed for the Twin Cities, Edict met with some of his father's associates from the Chicago Outfit, who gave him blessings to begin operations in the Midwest. After his personal brand of convincing, he was left more or less to run things in the burgeoning operations of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. He knew there was a niche that probably wasn't being filled: Paranormal Underground. The Carribean Connection was instrumental in beginning to flood the Twin Cities with products laced in more subtle products. Cigarettes, alcohol, legal products made by legitimate means and taxed through the legal channels, all marked up by thousands of percent thanks to the ingredients laced with magical properties.

With legitimate business run through legitimate channels, it's hard to call him a mafioso at this point. Frankly, even to him, its all a bit farcical. But, he had respect at this point that he didn't even need to manipulate for. The amount of cash rolling into the Midwest Outfit's coffers was satisfying to the big bosses who were happy to open the books for him. Ultimately, this created a strong union between mafia forces in the Midwest and Northwest. With Luigi Devola taking the seat of Don in Seattle Washington and Edict making Capo in the Midwest Outfit, some question if there'll be a greater union given enough time.
Edict has spent his time corporatizing business in his territory, moving weight from illegitimate interests into legitimate businesses utilizing his Carribean Connection and their myriad of questionably sourced products. He's well respected among the various local gangs in the Twin Cities for his skill as a mediator, often inserting himself into and involving himself with their local disputes. Not wanting to draw a great deal of heat from the Federal Authorities, which he's sure have some contingent of Adepts watching his every move, he makes it a point to give everyone he meets with for business what he calls "The Pink Wash", a full system assault of his most subtle manipulative spells and techniques. A population of gangsters, fiends and thugs constantly crave their "re-up", and they can get it at "The Import", his massive nightclub in Downtown Minneapolis.

But, now he's been called by a force he was never expecting to hear from again. Returning to St. Portwell is practically useless, but some small part of him knew he could never leave for good... Now he's concerned about whether or not the peace that counts on him will last until he returns. For now, he's back in St. Portwell and trying to not run the same old games he had in the hay day. Now, he was here to play detective, helping Auri on request with skimming the underbelly for evidence of Father Wolf.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ At surface level, Edict's Lex is a basic emotional manipulation type. Its most natural form is Warm Little Center; a pervasive aura that effects the perception toward the user, making those susceptible to it feel friendly toward and more inclined to engage with the user. Not satisfied with such a friendly and gentle ability, Edict has honed this effect to a razor's edge, deciphering its secrets and developing methods of sharpening and even changing the effect altogether.

Subtle Advance ⫻ Edict reaches out with his aura, attempting to gauge the emotinal status of those around him by distinguishing between various internal and external reactions. Like a thief with a lockpick, Edict prods at a person's psyche on a hunt for the tumbler that will unlock the door to his target's mind. Though able to pinpoint mood and temperment, this ability cannot read minds directly and provides no insight into the reasoning behind an individual's mood. Effects vary with intensity of the search:

• Just a Peek: The most subtle variation barely scratches the surface of an individual's mental state, searching for only the most shallow of connections. While not particularly useful in a single instance, Edict uses such a thing to groom potential targets over time, gradually amplifying the effect until the subject doesn't realize they've become used to, and accepting of, Edict's greater suggestions.
• The Stare: The standard form of Subtle Advance, but augmented by his own personal skill and inclination toward reading people. Edict uses this form to try and fish for a mental opening by actively inviting a mood shift toward him that an individual may be most inclined to leave themselves open with accidentally.
• Let Me In: If previous variations were lockpicks, this is the battering ram. All subtlety is lost as Edict puts every bit of force he has toward breaking down the walls one's mind uses to protect itself. Developed as a last-ditch effort tool in case he was hunted or persued by another Adept, this variation is not only risky to Edict for leaving him entirely defenseless while in use, but can do severe damage to the subject under its effects with side effects such as high fever, increased heart rate and induced trauma from the flood of Pink Lux bombarding the brain's emotional centers. That being said, though he hasn't had the chance to try it out on someone with an Emotional Field, he's confident that he can make it through and lock a potential paranormal assailaint down with it.

More Than a Feeling ⫻ Successful infiltration by way of Subtle Advance allows Edict to pass along suggestions, manipulating them to best match the individual's mood and desires so they're naturally inclined to follow the suggestion. This cuts down on the risk of suggestion denial or conflicting mindsets keeping the target from following subtle orders. While its not a guarantee, repeated usages of this spell on a particular subject will soften them up to suggestions, and shifting moods may provide wider openings for more complex suggestions to be made.
Typically, Edict sticks to simple suggestions: Be honest, don't lie to me. Give me a chance. Let me take you. Phrases and ideas that are so close to being possible in reality that they just need a little extra push. But, given enough time and opportunity, Edict has been able to open channels so wide and deep in a person's psyche that it's practically mind control. Edict calls these individuals "Junkies" because of the drug addict-like fashion that they seek him out in, begging for him to climb back into their minds for more purpose and direction.

Power Words ⫻ In the same vein as suggestions made under the influence of More Than a Feeling, Power Words are highly specific and case-sensitive concepts that Edict has curated through necessity over time in his line of work. Unlike MTF, however, Power Words are stick and go concepts that target natural processes in the body in an attempt to manipulate overall functionality of the target, rarely needing and sort of reaplication unless ultimately broken, either by time or willpower.

• Look/Search/Hunt: These power words are physical, meant to keep someone vigilant and alert at various levels for a long period of time. Someone effected by Power Word: Look may spend several hours watching and observing nothing in particular, unsure of what they're looking for. In contrast, Power Word: Hunt may actively search for a specific target individual or object, foregoing sleep and nutrition until the goal has been met.
• Bullshit: Power Word: Bullshit isn't a mind-wipe so much as it is a broad inclination toward lying ones ass off. For the duration, one simply won't be able to be honest with those around them. They'll lie and embellish, even if the situation doesn't call for it, and any truth that does come out of their mouth is suffused with false happenings and narratives.
• Produce: Specifically targeting chemical production in the brain, Edict uses Power Word: Produce as a monkey's paw method of torture. Often he hears people wishing for more; more muscle or more energy, more desire to love... With this, Edict directly targets the area of the brain and forces it to experience a nerve response suggesting it creates and produces more of the desired chemical. Need more sleep? Produce on the Pineal gland triggers mass amounts of melatonin and adenosine to flood the brain. One gets their wish, at the cost of several days worth of productivity. In a similar vein, Adrenaline or similar chemicals can be coaxed into production at levels so high the individual becomes a walking cardiac risk.
• Silence: Contrary to the idea that Power Word Silence makes it so an individual can't talk, the word actually targets the nervous system involved in controlling the transfer of sound to the brain. Rather than the target not being able to talk, they lose their hearing for several hours until the effect wears off.

Clean Slates ⫻ A ritual spell utilizing Edict's basic area of effect ability as an amplifier, this essentially targets the memory storage center of a willing participant and allows the cleansing of memories to occur. Once the connection between Edict and the individual seeking to wipe their memories is severed, the memories themselves are lost to both Edict and the subject.

LIMITS ⫻ Edict's abilities are almost entirely hinged on the idea of his target being a willing participant in the process. Like the stories of Vampires, one must invite this creature into their temple for him to do any sort of damage in the first place. Most who are not inclined to play at his games; those with strong wills or weak minds are unable to feel any sort of fast acting effect associated with Edict's Lux abilities and often require a great deal of effort for him to infiltrate. Beyond that, Edict runs the risk of overdoing his poking, either leaving an individual entirely disgusted by his presence as they can read his disingenuous nature by his constant mental prodding, or worse leave them like the Junkies that hang around his night club, waiting for the nights that they can go and be near him and get their high.
Beyond these issues, close proximity is necessary as long as he's attempting to apply a suggestion or power word. While Power Words are meant to dissipate over a short amount of time relative to the effort expended in their application, Suggestions often require refreshing if they're not successfully carried out shortly after being applied. As such, its common for most of Edict's time to be spent keeping up frequent appearances or clandestine stakeouts in order to keep the suggestion fresh by the warmth of his aura.

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Stay clean, so she can raise her son like a decent parent should. She almost lost custody of him when the hospital found out she was a drug addict up, until the point she found out she was pregnant. If it wasn't for her father's support, she wouldn't have him now and he'd be in the system somewhere.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ She's been fucked by life. She can't tell if it's her own doing or if circumstances pushed her towards her addiction. Life is a random lottery of meaningless tragedy and a series of near escapes. She's had plenty of both that cost her something. Abandonment, death, near death, more near death, and finally a light at the end of the tunnel she doesn't hope will stay that way.

SECRETS ⫻ She's knows who her baby's father is, but she won't say. Better to keep it hidden from everyone. He's a dangerous man and she's not looking to put her son in danger. She's enough of a slut that no one will have an easy answer to the countless speculations.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Whatever she needed to be to get her next fix. She's never had a preference. Still doesn't have one. She hasn't sat with herself long enough to figure it out.

FEARS ⫻ She's afraid that all her hard work will be wasted and that she'll slip back into that oxy life. She hated who she was then, and still hasn't figured out how to love herself but she's trying. The last thing she needs to get out of control of herself and seek the comforts of an old friend. If she did, she'll lose her son, and she doesn't think she's strong enough to get clean a second time.

REPUTATION IN OLD COVEN ⫻ She was rambunctious, loud, always looking for a good time, and looking out for her friends. She can't say for sure if she had a hand in breaking it up. By the time the Coven disbanded, she was already knee deep in oxy every week and didn't care to participate in the discourse. All it did was bring up memories she wanted to forget.

ROLE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE STYGIAN SNAKE ⫻ She played a good support role at first. Her pink lux was good with confusing the enemy through various mental manipulation and illusion spells. But when the love her life was killed mid-battle, she blacked out and lost it. She couldn't keep her cool and let her emotions get the best of her, making her lux wile out. She could've cost them the battle if they didn't have such good leadership. Daisy pulled her through to the end, helped her keep focus, up until they were able to kill the Stygian Snake.

FLAWS ⫻ She's wary of getting involved with anything that's not her business or is too complicated. Anything that could potentially stress her out, could make her slip up and she's not willing to take that risk. She's conflict avoidant, and will always put her son first, to the determent of anyone getting in the way of that.

There was nothing special about Tayla's life for the first six years. She was born and raised in Busan, South Korea by her Korean fisherman father and Japanese lawyer mother. Their marriage didn't last long. They got married, because they fucked around without a condom a few times and her mother got pregnant. Birth control be damned. Her parents didn't have anything in common. In fact, her mother was a rich kid and decided to slum it for shits and giggles one summer vacation during her college years. Her father didn't have a good education. He dropped out of middle school to work to help his family when they were struggling financially. What he didn't have in book smarts, he had in common sense and street smarts. Their two different backgrounds, her mother's desire to move back to Japan, and personalities led to divorce. And her father, being ever dramatic, moved to St. Portwell, Oregon to make it hard for her mother to see her. Except, she didn't care about her. Tayla knew this by the bitter end of their relationship. She's sure she has half siblings out there somewhere.

When they moved, her father heard from other Asian immigrants that they would get along better if they had English names. He choose something that was close sounding to her given name, Takara, but he had a hard time pronouncing the R at the end of Taylor, so she ended up being named Tayla instead. Up until she was 18, all her paperwork said Taylor, but she never called herself that. She changed it to Tayla when she was legally able to.

They lived on a small island with three other families off the coast of St. Portwell. There were a lot of little islands spattered around the coast. On that island, was a boy named James. They got on well, becoming best friends rather quickly, despite the language barrier. They were so close that she fell helplessly in love with him by the time they hit puberty. Her love was so strong that it triggered a Kindling-Event when he accepted her feelings in middle school. Her father knew nothing about magic, even though she tried to show him, but he was Blind, she later learned. She assumed this power came from her mother and if intense feelings of love were what triggered it, there's a chance that was part of the reason her mother left them. She didn't love them enough to get magic powers and maybe she was desperate for them. Tayla didn't know for sure. She assumed this was the case.

Her lux was pink and James thought it suited her. He had a different type of Abstraction. Something bound to him by a notebook. He never went into detail about how he acquired it, but she didn't care to know all that much. They joined the Coven their freshman year of high school. They made a lot of new friends and were eager to help stop the Stygian Snake. James a lot more dedicated than her. And it was that dedication that got him killed in the final battle. They needed a distraction and he volunteered, dying mid-battle in the process. Nothing was ever the same for her after that.

Life was bleak and she sank into a deep depression. Hanging out with the Coven was too much. Too many happy memories. Too many sad ones. She wanted to forget, so on James's birthday she went to visit his family for a private vigil. They never knew the real story of how he died. Thought he got hit by a car in a hit-and-run late at night and the driver was never caught. She hated lying to them about what happened, but there no one to explain. They weren't Adepts or any other Abstraction, so she couldn't explain it to them in terms they would understand. At the vigil, she took a moment away from his family to go to the bathroom. She needed a break. That's when she spotted his mother's oxy on the counter. She'd had a major surgery several months, before and were the meds for awhile. She had stopped taking them and there was only a little left. Tayla heard it could ease pain, both physical and emotional, so she popped one. It put her to sleep after a few minutes. She went to rest in James's room and didn't wake up for several hours. It's the most rest she had in a while and she couldn't help wanting more of that, so she stole the pills.

She didn't use them every day, but the more she tried to cope without the more she needed them. Once that supply went out, she went to the The Wolfpack for a refill. That started a long spiral of partying with them, sleeping around for pills, and stealing money from her dad to keep her supply up. When the Coven disbanded, she didn't even care. She threw all those friends away, and made friends with her dealer and his crew. She got into a situation ship with her dealer, Dean Walker, just shy of her 19th birthday. He didn't care to touch an underaged girl, but he didn't mind pimping her out so she could afford her habit when she was strapped for cash. They began an on again, off again relationship. Toxic as all hell, not only for drugs, but of various assaults, both physical and sexual, and intimidation. He's the father of her baby, but will never tell him that. He still pimped her out when they were together.

Her addiction and bad relationship caused a Severance. Not that she used her lux anymore, anyway, but she lost her connection to that power and couldn't even care. She lost the person that triggered it in the first place. Why bother with it without him? When she was 23, she finally overdosed after a horrible break up with Dean. It was bad, like black eyes bad. At this point, she had left her father's home years ago and floated around on whatever Wolfpack member's couch she could fuck her way onto whenever she wasn't with Dean. After such a bad fight, she took three too many oxy and OD'd. One of Dean's friends found her having a seizure, lips and fingers blue. She got rushed to the hospital where they were able to save her life. She woke up realizing she was 6 weeks pregnant. They just barely managed to save her baby. And when she counted back the weeks, the only man she'd been with when she could've conceived was Dean.

The hospital had called her father, she hadn't seen him in over a year at that point. She promised to get clean and asked for his help. She was certain she would lose her baby once the withdrawal set in. It was bad. As the months went on, she was underweight, so was her baby, and he ended up being born 6 months premature. She named him Siwan (pronounced Shiwan), not caring to give him an English name. It's easy enough to pronounce. It was touch and go for him for awhile, but he pulled through and is now a loud, bouncing 18 months old whose favorite word is 'No.' She's been clean two years, cut all ties with The Wolfpack, and works at St. Portwell History Museum at the ticket booth.

Life was going as good as she could get it, until she got the call from Auri about Ashley and Daisy and needing her back in the Coven. She refused at first. She was done with that life. She didn't even have her Lux anymore, but Auri told her about what happened to other members. That someone or something was hunting them and taking them out. Which meant, at some point, they would be coming for her too. Her son would be in danger. She hated that she got pulled back, but it's the only way to get her life back to how it was before all that magic shit came back to bite her in the ass.

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Fully establish himself in an identity and lifestyle that he can truly call his own, outside of the influence of others, of societal pressures, of the strange call that supernatural entities have to each other. He'd like to one day settle down somewhere, maybe at a beach if the climate crisis hasn't ruined those yet, doing a job he loves with people that he loves, whatever that might be. But for now, he's just trying to survive and maybe pay back some debts he thinks he owes to people who are now dead.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ "Somethings felt wrong ever since the accident. I can't shake it. This gnawing feeling inside of my chest that something about me isn't right, that there's a problem with me that I can't fix. Every time I look at myself in the mirror it's like I go farther and farther away from the person I'm supposed to be. But is that person even the person I want to be? I feel like for the past fifteen years I've been dragged around from one place to the next, one job to the next, one life to the next, without anyone ever asking me where I want to go, and now it's happening all over again. Still, if you can't swim against the tide, might as well keep floating with it and hope you run into an island, right?"

SECRETS ⫻ There was an accident that he was involved with years ago, before he was ever involved with the Coven. He tells people it was just a bad scrape, and to the people of the Coven that it was just an unlucky encounter with an apparition that cursed him, but honestly... a part of thinks he really did die that day and for some reason any time he wants to bring that possibility up something silences him before he can even try.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Straight? Honestly he's not too sure himself either. He hasn't had a lot of time to explore this side of himself and even then he's not really sure if he wants to right now.

FEARS ⫻ He fears that everything he does is just an act, a facade, and that somewhere in the middle of all the acting whatever is his real true self somehow got lost. He's also afraid of taking life, and how that can affect him. He's fine with participating in violence but he is horrified about being the person to actually pull the trigger. He also has an irrational fear of cats. Something about their eyes... it's like they can see through him.

REPUTATION IN OLD COVEN ⫻ Kali, to the coven was like a picked up stray. When he first came to them, shivering, alone, recently run away from his parents they offered him a home, shelter, a place to remain comfortable. But something about him always seemed to put him in the fringes. He never stood out, never put himself in the center of any of the Coven's affairs. He pulled his own weight during the battle against the snake no doubt but otherwise he almost seemed like a part of the furniture. When the Coven dissolved, he was there. He heard quite a bit regarding what happened, not because people told him but because people didn't notice enough to realize he was within earshot of those conversations. In the end, the tide of fate was what threw him into the Coven in the first place, and life a piece of driftwood as soon as the Coven dissolved he would continue to float down stream as if nothing happened.

ROLE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE STYGIAN SNAKE ⫻ At first, he was just another person on the front lines. Dealing with the lesser apparitions and doing his best to support from a position of weakness. But then, to everyone's surprise, he started saying things. Things about what the Snake would do, and what his intentions were. They were clearly speculations but more often than not he was actually right. It was as if Kali was somehow able to read the Stygian Snake and through his insights they were able to better maneuver around what it was doing and counterattack. Though, for some reason, near the tail end of the fight Kali had vanished. It wasn't that important however, the Snake was more or less cornered anyway and he was known to run when the going gets tough.

FLAWS ⫻ He's extremely skittish, paranoid, and generally conflict averse. He's harmless, but in a way too harmless. He's used to being pushed around a lot by people with extremely strong personalities and holding bottling up his feelings, to a point. His general weirdness about his own identity and the constant sense of discomfort that he gets from it also makes it difficult for him to connect with others. Stress, anxiety, and general sensory overload can cause him to shut down in crucial situations if someone else isn't there to knock him back into his senses, but when it all reaches a breaking point he can also lash out violently without much care for anyone else around him both physically and emotionally as a defensive response.

For as long as I could remember I've always had these... expectations... put on me. My mom and dad they were both, successful, I think. She did something with banks and dad was a doctor, or something like that. I don't really remember I haven't talked to them in fifteen years.

Still, I can't tell why but something, something was wrong back then. There was this thing gnawing inside of me, scratching away at my chest like it was trying to get out. I could feel it, growing, every day until I just- I couldn't take it anymore! I had to leave I had to run I was... I was. I was running somewhere. Into a field. It was a big one filled with wheat as tall as trees. There was a scarecrow in the distance. I don't know why I remember that but there was. It was tall, so tall. You couldn't miss it. And it just had these... eyes? Yeah, eyes, and they kept following me. And I just kept on running and running and running until before i knew it I was out of the field and into one of those back country roads and then. Well that's when it happened. The accident.

Something caught up to me there. I can't remember what it looked like but I just knew I was afraid of it, terrified even. I was on the ground, I was bleeding, I think I fell onto the asphalt and my heart was pounding so hard I swore it was gonna jump straight out've my chest but then it just left. Thankfully someone was nearby and they took me to the hospital but I still have the scar. That wasn't the only thing it left me with though. Something changed. I could tell instantly. It was like my entire body was filled with this... sickness that I can never cure. I could see things, hear things, know things that I never could before, that I shouldn't have known.

For a while I was just drifting around. An odd job here, an apprenticeship there. Sometimes I got by hiding in people's basements, creeping out from below when they were asleep to grab whatever I could from the fridge. But no matter where I went something just kept dragging me further and further along. Then, eventually I was just... walking. Walking, and walking and walking until finally I was just, somewhere else.

That was when the Coven showed up. Or more like I showed up to them. I can't remember why but for some reason I was just sitting there in front of their base, shivering, cold, was it raining? Probably, but it was definitely cold. They were nice. Or well, they at least helped me understand what exactly happened to me. Those were some wild years now that I'm looking back on it but, even if they weren't really my friends they still gave me a home. They gave me food, shelter, a place where I could just be myself for a little while. It was a good thing going for me. Right? Yeah I had to... technically, help in a fight against a horrific abomination from across the pale or something like that but it at least I belonged there. At least I think I did. But, at the same time I just can't help but wonder if I even had a say in any of that. Did I want to be there or was I just there because that's just how things went? I, no, no there's no point in thinking about that.

Eventually, things started going south though once the Snake was gone. It was funny, the Snake kept us together. No matter how much they might have hated each other as long as the Snake was there then it was fine. They all had something to hate together. But after that it all just crumbled. It was slow. very slow. Too slow honestly. But once it all rotted away I left with it. I was alone again. Nothing but the clothes on my back and a bit of loose change to try and figure something out with.

Then it happened again. I was found again. Not by the coven, but by the government. The PRA. I don't know what they see in me honestly but it's not a bad gig all things considered. The training is tough but... not much tougher than what I went through at the Coven. The jobs are honestly a little easier as well. They pay me, the housing is subsidized, I get discounts on the bus and train passes and can use the veterans discount at the grocery store. All I have to do is just deal with some paranormal things occasionally which is definitely not where I thought my life was going but it's not the worst, especially with all the benefits and insurance. It's cozy. Comfortable.

But is that what I want?

There it is again. That feeling. That thing gnawing away at the back of my skull. I can't listen to it this time. Nothing good happens when I listen to it. I'll figure things out. I have to. I always do. No matter what happens no matter where I go. I am me. I am me.

Then, one day, a letter shows up at my apartment door. A letter... old fashioned but, I like it that way. Then the name, Auri Auclair. Like a shot to the chest. No, no it can't be. There's no way right? Then the seal on the letter hits my eyes. It is. It's her. What the hell could she want with me? No, I should just throw it away. I'm done. I have a new life now I'm not going to let the damn pull drag me back in!

But that feeling... there it is again. I'm running away, just like I always do. I hate it. I hate it so much. So with a shaky hand I reached out to it, touched it, carefully undid the seal like I was handling a bomb before peeking at the contents.

Oh God.

I stare out into the distance from my front door. I read the address. I know where that is. I know it all too well...

So this is where I'm being dragged too next?

Aberration (Abscised) ⫻

ABSTRACTION ⫻ Mimicry: It is not simply enough to copy the superficial, you must embody them, take their essence, make it yours, and lose yourself in it.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ It can take many different forms depending on who Kali is in contact with and for how long. However, the key sign of its usage no matter how little it is being used is a shift in the coloration of his eyes, almost as if paint is being mixed into his irises.

Embody: When in long periods of contact with another entity or individual Kali can begin to take on their traits. This happens in stages, first from the superficial traits and thoughts to eventually, if taken far enough, becoming an identical copy complete with all of the various traits, emotions, and capabilities included. This embodying even extends to abstractions if they are present though until Kali has fully "synced" with the identity of his target the abstraction itself will always be naturally weaker than what the original target is capable of.

Base: The "base form" of the apparition that has inhabited Kali's corpse. It is nothing impressive manifesting itself as shadowy claws and spikes that wrap around Kali's arms and can be used both offensively and defensively with enough durability to at least survive low caliber bullets but otherwise these offer no other benefits to his physique, reaction speed, or anything else for that matter. When using only his base abilities he simply has to rely on whatever mortal physique he has to make the best of it. The more he "Embodies" another however the less present his base form becomes, starting from the shadowy thorns at the top of his arms and receding further and further until the claws themselves also disappear when he has become fully "synced".

Empathy: This is more of a side effect of "Embodying" something but it also has its uses. When Kali is in the process of embodying a target he also gains access to their thoughts. Not in the sense that he is reading them but in the sense that his brain is being shifted around to think in the same way his target is and therefore is naturally forming those thoughts on its own as if it were that target. This process starts at the superficial level. Immediate goals, surface level desires, strong emotions, but if the process continues it will allow for access to even deeper, more subconscious, even horrifically personal thoughts though that is if Kali would even be able to retain enough of his own identity by that point to use this information.

LIMITS ⫻
Time/Compatibility: To embody a target requires sustained close proximity, roughly within thirty feet but this can vary depending on a number of factors, and it also requires an extensive amount of time. Becoming another person is not a fast or easy process and if the target is not another apparition or someone that Kali has a high emotional "compatibility with" (Knows extremely well on a personal level) then that time will take even longer, maybe even weeks to fully complete the process if the target is too incompatible with Kali and his own desires. Deep admiration for the target may shorten that time frame however though this is not always the case.
Ego Death: The closer Kali becomes to "fully syncing" with the target the more his own identity becomes lost in the process. There is a sort of undertow to this where the more he becomes the target the harder it is for him to pull away from the process to return to being himself. There might be a theoretical way to return Kali to who he once was after he "fully syncs" with someone but that is not something he has ever attempted nor is it something he ever wants to risk attempting.

WEAKNESSES ⫻ By mimicking someone, Kali begins to gain their memories... however, he loses the ability to differentiate what are his memories and what is someone else's. The more he uses this abstraction on a target, the more he loses his memories as they are replaced with the targets. By mimicking someone's abstraction, he also gains their weaknesses.

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Clancy's seeking out one of the only family connections he thinks he has left available, and part of that includes understanding what happened to his cousin. His upbringing and background has left him missing out on the much needed familial ties and friendships.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Self-reliance is something Clancy has come to depend on as a consequence of his upbringing, even to a fault. Trust is something he struggles with, as his own family situation made it difficult to make connections, and the only person he really connected to - his sister - died after a long battle with a terminal illness. He's still going through the grief of losing a sister and working it out in his own complex way. Authority figures aren't something which carry an automatic respect.

FLAWS ⫻ He's a child, and one that has some serious emotional baggage stemming from family issues and personal grief. To say his view would be a little skewed goes without saying. They're not in Texas or one of the Pacific SovCit compounds, so it's not like he can just pick up an Armalite and go to town, is it?

Clancy's upbringing wasn't anything outstanding. His parents were old fashioned, but not outright abusive, having met after his father returned home from military service in Europe. Self-reliance was something he learned in part from his parents, and other factors in life. Coming as the middle child from a brood of three, his brother Frank is serving overseas in the Marines, and his little sister died a year ago - something he took really hard. He reached out to one of the only other family connections he had - a cousin, Ashley Stone - from her dad's side of the family.

Ashley seemed to get him, and she helped him through dealing with his sister's death. The family situation at home was getting more difficult by the day, and other issues made things untenable to him. Then Ashley lost touch, and Clancy felt there was only one thing for it. He ran away from home, catching buses and hitching rides where he could.

His accent is hard to place, save that he comes from same place north of the Ohio River - possibly Chicago or Cincinatti? Maybe even further out west, like Bellevue

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Simone hopes to survive and keep her family safe. The bedtime stories she was told were not those of jumping sheep but of the horrors her ancestors faced and how she must carry on their traditions. There is a lingering fear in the back of her mind that they could be found and killed once more, without a trace, and without someone to continue their bloodline and the power it holds.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Simone knows these three simple truths: she must protect her family, she must create, and she must be inspired. In her 27 years of life, she has traveled worldwide to pursue these things. The way she goes about them changes as she matures and gets older, but for now, she is content living in St. Portwell with a watchful eye on the town while she writes and performs her songs at local music venues and shotty bars.

SECRETS ⫻ Simone’s real name is Simone Ylaef. She belongs to an ancient bloodline of powerful female Adepts. She has not yet been entrusted with all the secrets of her familial powers, but she could be used to get to the other members of her family who do. She didn’t share this information with members of the Coven, even when she knew it might benefit their war against the Stygian Snake.

FEARS ⫻ Her biggest fear is not being there for her loved ones in times of need. This is a recurring nightmare that only gets worse when separated from her family and friends. It’s why she came home early from the tour, even with her band’s success at its peak.

REPUTATION IN OLD COVEN ⫻ Simone kept a certain distance from the rest of the Coven, making members feel like they couldn’t fully trust her. Though, she always was there for them when shit went down. She leaned toward the most knowledgeable members of the group, trying to learn as much as she could. Her reason for leaving the Coven wasn’t necessarily on bad terms, and she parted with little spectacle.

ROLE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE STYGIAN SNAKE ⫻ Simone used her abilities in Echolocation to track down the Stygian Snake throughout St. Portwell for a portion of the battle as it tried to subvert the Coven’s attacks. She was at the Sycamore Tree when the abomination was defeated.

FLAWS ⫻ Simone lives in constant paranoia of her and her family being attacked. This has led her to be quite reclusive, quiet, and distant from her friends and passions. She knows she does this and hasn’t decided if she wants to do something about it yet. Change and uncertainty scare her enough to make her a terrible decision-maker. She will always choose the safer route even if it’s clearly not the best option.

Simone was born into an old family that had been situated in New Orleans, Louisiana, for centuries. The Ylaefs have a deep family tree that traces back to their days in Africa as Egyptian nobility. Their collection of the Paranormal was some of the largest in the world - that is, before a wing of the modern-day Klan hunted, killed, and maimed Simone’s ancestors 35 years ago, destroying their collections and institutional knowledge in the process. Broken by this experience, the surviving members of the Ylaef family packed up what little they had left and fled to the Pacific Northwest, settling in the town of St. Portwell and changing their surname to Le Fay. Despite their previous hardships, they managed to work their way up, owning several small businesses and land in town but still sat with their heads low in fear of another attack.

Since Simone’s beginning, an intense expectation of family duty and sacrifice has been embedded into her to protect and keep the family strong. She was born to a brilliant, Adept mother and her father, who was none the wiser about who his wife really was. It had been tradition for the Le Fay women to become matriarchs and ultimately be the ones who pass down their ancient bloodline and the paranormal qualities that come with it. Since the attack, they kept their true identities a secret, even from their significant others, often choosing Blind partners as another failsafe measure. The Le Fay women live dual lives, and Simone is no different. She was told of her history at a young age, and it was easy to keep it from her father as he was in and out of her life for long periods anyway.

At heart, Simone is an artist with a talent for singing and songwriting. She can’t remember when she wasn’t making up songs, even for the most mundane, everyday tasks. Music is how she understands and conceptualizes the world. In childhood, her 1st-grade music teacher encouraged her to pick up a guitar, and she ended up never putting it down unless it was to perform beautiful melodies on the piano she self-taught herself to play at seven years old. However, this essential part of herself was seen as trivial to her family as they wanted her to dedicate each minute to learning their ways to keep their succession strong.

Into her teenage years, she was known as the quiet girl, which could have been mistaken for shy if it weren’t for the dramatic and moving performances she put on at school musicals and the local theater. She joined a band, too, which unknowingly would become very successful. Outside of her life as a musician, she didn’t talk much for fear of saying the wrong thing and exposing secrets to those that would cause harm to her and her family. When she wasn’t at school or band practice, she trained under her mother or was nose-deep in family spellbooks.

Her Kindling event happened outside a local jazz club after the usual open mic night she attended on Tuesdays. Four Apparitions who served the Stygian Snake cornered her in an alleyway while walking home and tried to attack her. Try as they may, Simone’s ancestors answered her call for help and activated the powers that had laid dormant in her for years. She finally saw them and saw what her mother and aunts told her to be true - women sitting atop golden thrones and ruling over thousands in their Egyptian homelands. The powerful Ylaef women who came after Egypt collapsed were great leaders in their own right in business, culture, and civil rights. Her great-great-grandmother, a renowned singer and actress in her day, came to Simone and used her ancestral essence to project through her. Simone used this to emit a deafening scream that incapacitated the Apparitions long enough to escape.

Auri Auclair was tracking the Apparitions and had observed the scene at a distance. She nearly stepped in to help before Simone took care of the situation herself. Days later, at a visit in the night, Auri tried to recruit her into the Sycamore Tree Coven, but she initially declined out of fear her family would find out and disapprove. After speaking with her mother and gaining approval, she returned to Auri and was initiated into the Coven shortly after. However, Simone’s charge was made clear by her mother. Learn everything you can from the Coven and use it to strengthen the family. Do not expose the family. You can never trust anyone fully but your family.

She did just that during her time in the Coven, only taking information, knowledge, and spells, but never items or tangible objects at risk of being obvious. After the Battle of the Stygian Snake, the subsequent infighting made it nearly unbearable for Simone to be a part of, so she left, using her band’s newfound fame as an excuse. This was partly true because after graduating at 17, the band was offered a record deal and a national tour to take her away from St. Portwell for the foreseeable future. Simone’s affinity for sound softened her mother’s disdain for her daughter’s “extracurriculars,” and she let her go as a way to explore and expand her abilities.

Notwithstanding her new freedoms, the longer she was away from home, the more intense her paranoia was at the thought of something happening to her family and her not being there to prevent it. It grew so horrible that four months into the band’s tour, she left it all behind at the peak of their success to go back home. If she had stayed the course, it would have been nearly impossible not to be launched into A-list fame. She still doesn’t know that this success could be attributed to the spell she unknowingly casts when performing, which makes her voice and the music utterly intoxicating.

Back at home, where she was reunited with her family, she buried her head deep back into her spellbooks. She took a long break from music before picking it back up three years later. It has been a source of healing and respite from the debilitating anxiety she still experiences. Despite her resounding abilities, she lives a relatively quiet life at her family home, training, writing, and occasionally performing at spots around town.

When the news broke that ex-members of the Coven were being picked off, the hairs on her neck prickled with a sense of dread. At first, her instinct told her to not get involved and stay as low profile as possible. For the first time in years, she thought twice about taking the easy way out. She decided that getting to the bottom of the murders was the only way to ensure her and her family’s safety. Auri, in another familiar visit in the night, convinced her to join leagues again with the Coven. With great uncertainty, Simone is again enthralled in the adventures of the Sycamore Tree.

ABSTRACTION ⫻ Red and pink Lux, Simone’s Channeler: the Le Fay family crest she wears as a broach close to her heart at all times

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ Simone's natural talent with her voice and music has manifested toward an Affinity for sounds. She can manipulate and produce her body's sound waves, such as screams, clicks, claps, and stomps. An ability she isn't aware of yet is how her singing and songwriting can mentally influence the listeners' mood.

High-Frequency Sonogenesis ⫻ Her first use of this spell manifested as a high-decibel scream, which incapacitates and temporarily deafens beings by piercing their ears with an excruciating sound. Using this same spell to a lesser degree, she can weaken and even shatter high-energy materials like glass using her voice or snaps.

Echolocation ⫻ High-pitched clicks made with her tongue allow her to "see" in the dark and through surfaces if the material is permeable to sound. The effect works up to 100 ft. She can sense underground tunnels, find water sources, and detect hidden rooms. This spell can also be used at higher concentration levels to track targets as they move throughout a building and even more extensive regions of space, such as whole city blocks.

Low-Frequency Sonogenesis ⫻ Low frequency and intensely produced screams can knock back enemies or objects ranging from 5-50 ft based on Simone's intentions. The spell can also create concussive blasts from claps to damage beings and low-energy objects, such as wooden doors, enough to weaken or break them. A lesser-used part of this spell is stomps. Her low-frequency stomps can create dangerous quakes that can create fissures and take down entire buildings, but she rarely uses them because of their potential to damage her and her allies alike in the process.

Song Incantations ⫻ Simone is entirely unaware this spell is cast when performing her own songs to an audience, and thus, has never explored the depths of her pink lux. Depending on the feeling and lyrics of the music, it will create the exact mood within the listener. For example, playing a sad song will produce intense feelings of melancholy, grief, or regret. The actual feeling will depend on the listener's experiences and how they connect with the lyrics. If she plays a calm or meditative song, it can put the listener into a hypnosis-like state where her lyrics are taken to heart and stuck in their mind until the song is over or they have forgotten the tune. The catchier the song, the longer the effect lasts.

LIMITS ⫻ Except for her Echolocation spell, it is nearly impossible for her to be stealthy. The attacks tend to be loud. Several of her offensive abilities depend on the enemy's ability to process sounds. That is, if something can not hear screams meant to damage their ears, they will not be affected. The direction of the scream matters, so if you are standing behind her, there is no effect. However, claps reverberate through space and don't have the same limitation. Depending on the material she's trying to damage with sonogenesis, she must find the right frequency. What might break glass will have minimal effect on metal or stone. Her song incantations will not impact listeners if she has not written the lyrics herself. A melody can be sampled, but the lyrics must be original.
