A child prodigy in the making, Vitesse had grown up in the Kalos region racing Rhyhorns from an early age. She wiped the floor with the competition, and held a number of records throughout the years. Eventually, victory after victory would draw the world's eyes onto Tess, and upon acquiring a professional agent of her own, she'd find herself laden with sponsorships from well-known companies such as DENSOKU or Mach Motors. In turn, these sponsorships allowed Tess to explore the world and expand to other competitions such as the Pokéthlon at the cost of her and her Pokémon wearing company-themed attire to promote the various product(s) their businesses made.
As such, it was only natural that she found herself invited aboard the S.S. Lugia as a celebrity, but also to discuss any business details with a few wealthy individuals and their partners that had joined the ship's maiden voyage.

Despite her success in life, Tess has never been an expressive individual. She has a tendency to carry a blank face, and is often accused of being "off in space" and not listening or paying attention. Of course, this simply isn't true; Tess just finds herself easily exhausted by expressing herself. The reigning champ is an introvert in an extrovert's world, and rarely if ever is a hint of a smile seen in the public eye.
