I believe that I have filled out everything.Alpheus Pleiades Hoel
A mischievous young man who doesn't allow "fate" to be his downfall and always seems to have a smile on his face.
Name: Alpheus Pleiades Hoel
Aliases: Alphi/Alfi or Pleiades
Age: Sixteen-years-old
Class: First year
Gender: Male
Specialty: Life Magic
Role/Rank/and Order: Student and Noble (cousin to the French Royalty)Physical Attributes
Height: 6'2
Weight: 190
Build: Semi-athletic, slender, body-type not broad though shoulders are broad for his body type.
Eyes: Green. Alpheus has green eyes that look no different from everyone else unless you have known him long enough. The problem is that the young man was diagnosed with a genetic condition that deteriorates the individual's sight. When he was younger, he could see perfectly fine, but he began deteriorating after the age of twelve. Currently, Alpheus can make out everything in blurs and smudges. If something is very close to his face, he can see the slightly finer details, but he will never be able to see like others.
Hair: A sea of black with tight waves and loose curls make up his hair.
Skin: Fair though he can become sun-kissed if he's outside a lot.
Scars/tattoos/piercings: Currently there are no tattoos or piercings on his body. Alpheus does have a scar from when he was ten years old. It's a nasty-looking scar that zig-zags from his left shoulder blade to the lower right part beside his spine. He got it from playing with siblings and friends. Alpheus fell off the porch onto one of his mother's decorative clay flower pots.
Day-to-day attire: A mild-colored dress shirt that usually has complimentary colored high-waist dress pants. Depending on the colors he wears, his nicer-looking leather dress boots are either a shade of brown or black that are cut off before the knee. Each pair laces up from toe to the top.
Strengths: Fantastic listener, eavesdropper, and hearer. His heart. "I work out" ~ Stays fit so he is slightly more intimidating by appearance so people don't want to mess with him.
Weakness: Extremely limited eyesight, defensive tendencies for the ones he cares about, passionate about keeping the ones he cares about safe, shutting himself down and others, and talks way too much sometimes.Psychological Attributes
☦︎ ☦︎ ☦︎
Sexuality: Bisexual
Relationship Status: Currently Single
Personality: Before the diagnosis and the decline, Alpheus was like any other child. Happy and innocent. Everything was grand in the naive life of this young nobleboy. How could anything be seen as sad, negative, or anything be wrong when you are surrounded by wealth, loving parents, and life? That was the foundation of Alpheus's personality which probably made the diagnosis and process of deterioration not as bad. After that, it might have been the fear of being forgotten or how the majority began to pity him, but Alpheus became the "class clown" so he would receive the amount of attention he used to. The young man honestly would tell anyone that he believes his mother and father took the diagnosis and deterioration harder than he did and he is the one experiencing it. It didn't change who he was, it only changed how he perceived the world around him. Alpheus believes he sees the world for what it is, good and bad, and he sees his "disability" as a blessing in a way or that might be how he keeps himself in denial. How he keeps himself positive. He repeatedly reminded himself that it was a blessing and not a curse, not the end of the world, and life would go on. Life has to go on.
To most people, Alpheus is a carefree individual who jokes too much. He does take things seriously though he chooses to sit back and relax more than have a "stick up my butt" as he likes to say. Life is too short to always worry and be serious with your nose up all the time. Putting negative care into the little things. The little things are the best part of life in his eyes.
Do not be fooled by this happy-go-lucky boy, he can be extremely serious and pessimistic, especially if he is driven to be that way or if something is bothering him. People who know him might be shocked if he isn't talkative or positive because he always is. If he isn't, something is wrong. UNLESS, he is out in nature where he loves to listen to everything else.
Alpheus can be like any other Hoel, a stubborn, inconsiderate man who knows exactly where to jab to make it hurt. He listens to everything and everyone. The young man can have a bratty attitude if tested and he can be very rebellious which gets him trouble a lot. His unfiltered mouth gets him in trouble even more.
Habits: A nervous tick of his is squeezing his thumb along with his pointer and middle finger around his wrists. Extremely animated when he speaks. Examining things by feel, scent, sound, and taste - yes, Alpheus will lick almost anything to keep it in his memory because he can't use sight to remember what it is.
Hobbies: "Reading", lounging around in nature or being out in nature, hanging out in the stables, trying to identify people as their "smudge" form, and hanging out in cafes.
Fears: Going fully blind, forgetting what certain people, colors, or animals look like, thunder/thunderstorms, and being vulnerably attached to people.
Likes: Proving to people that he can do anything as a "seer" can, spending time with people, nature (plants and animals), tea, pastries, walks, and the little things.
Dislikes: People who assume his disability holds him back, being alone, not knowing where he is, opening his eyes in the dark (it causes him to realize that is what he will see once he goes fully blind if he goes fully blind), and aggressive storms.Skills
- Cooking (Master): Alpheus loved to cook as a child and he continued that love while his deterioration set in. A part of him believed that losing his sight helped his taste and other senses which helped him become a better cook. The boy was naturally talented from a young age and he loved to show off these skills to anyone who willingly tasted his food even if they were terrified of it being horrible. Alpheus loves to invite others over for potlucks or basic dinners to spend time with others and share a little bit of "love and happiness" as he puts it.
- Walking without a cane (Master): Alpheus never wanted to be "helpless" so he forced himself to learn how to walk without any help. There was a lot of pain in this learning experience and accidents still happen, though he seems to do it as well as everyone else. It helps him not appear blind either.
- Pianist (Expert): Even with his eyesight failing him, Alpheus can play the piano beautifully, and he loves to play when there is one around.
- Bow staff(Expert): Alpheus has been using a bow staff as a way to protect himself since he was younger or he at least was being trained since he was a young boy. You can make anything out of a bow staff, he says, since a broomstick can be one, a random stick in the woods, or a petal fence pole. Its very versatile and he can severely hurt someone with this ability, but he usually stays on the defense unless persuaded by someone else's actions.
- Kalimba (Novice): Alpheus decided he wanted to learn something new. Why not another instrument? He might be new at the handheld device but is learning it well. You might not like it but at least the birds seem to love it, at least in his eyes.
Talents & Powers
- Restorative Touch (Power/Minor): Can heal mild physical wounds or injuries upon touch. The problem with ability is that it drains the user's vitality and energy which will leave Alpheus fatigued or weakened after each healing session. Prolonged use may lead to severe exhaustion or even physical deterioration.
Alpheus can use this ability to heal above mild physical wounds and injuries but instead of healing an individual and sleeping for an extra few hours or taking a nap. Whatever he is trying to heal about mild injuries will begin to appear on him instead like it transfers from body to body. This could kill him.
This ability can be used on people who have illnesses such as common colds, flu, pneumonia, ear infections, stomachaches, or other common things. Just like taking on more than he should, Alpheus "healing" these issues will cause the sickness to transfer from the individual being healed to him.
This cannot heal broken bones or reattach anything to the individual's body. This cannot heal diseases such as cancer, and genetic disorders, and he cannot cure incurable illnesses.History
Parents: Pran and Anuli Hoel.
Siblings: Suad (older brother, 19), Galo (younger brother, 14), and Elsie (youngest sister, 8).
Childhood:
Alpheus grew up alongside the French royal family for he shared the last name and the aesthetic like his siblings. His father's brother is the king of France. In his father's eyes, that meant his children deserved the best as well, and they were all home-schooled along with their cousins till the age of fourteen when they were given the choice to go to private school or continue their at-home education.
The boy is a little odd because of all the isolation from his younger years and how much attention was given and pulled away from him. When he was little, his parents were "always busy" and his older brother experienced the same behavior. The only reason their parents changed their behaviors is because Alpheus was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that has appeared to skip all the other children.
He and his siblings were practically created to broaden the genetic pool among the royals and other nobles. They were there as pawns in their parent's games. It was a curse and a blessing when Alpheus got pulled out of it. He was supposed to marry the daughter of a neutral country to make attachments to France, but they rejected him once his deterioration started. Alpheus could only giggle to himself because he didn't want to be with such a shallow person anyway. His parents were furious that he thought it was funny. That one thing strained him and his father's relationship. Alpheus believes that his father still blames him for the country not being able to get that marriage aligned and trade routes in effect.
After the deterioration, Alpheus was the one to blame for anything significantly bad happening. He was the "curse" on the family name even though he was one of the only Hoel's that could use magic without it exploding back onto him. How is he the cursed one when everyone else sucks so much in his family? Call him the "black sheep", the "odd one out" or just a flat out "fool" but he is glad to be away from his family even if his father is paying for the bare minimum of everything and his mother slips him some allowance money ever now and again.
Adulthood Not there yet.
Special moments: Becoming limited by his vision.

Home for the day so I likely won't look at this in depth until tomorrow but wanted to let you know as it my immediate concern. The skills are mostly expert or master, which I absolutely expect from a 4th year or teacher, but not something I expect from a 1st year. I would say he can have max skills at journey but no higher currently. Unless there are extenuating circumstances. A character who is already a master or expert at something has no where to improve. I'd consider looking at that again.
I do like the talent, but I'll look at that in more depth tomorrow and might have more feedback at that point.
@Crusader Lord
Glad to have you!

I understand and I'll update the level of the skills/talents, that is no bother. I'll have them all capped at journeyman or lower.
<Snipped quote by The Savant>
I'll add a note to the CS section about that tomorrow. Thanks for being understanding!

Mostly just do whatever as long as it makes sense. I'm generally going to be following the same kind of mechanics that DnD 5e would follow, but I don't want our story to get bogged down in deep mechanics. Magic comes from books, innate talent for it, and the spells themselves. But if you want to splash in some other stuff like the enchantment magic
It also the school that has Vicious Mockery, so Millie can - literally - insult someone to death. Just makes her scolding (or staring at) you a tad bit deadlier than others.
The teachers just end up partnering Millie with Alfi because he can't see and he can totally ZONE anyone out.

Can't accidentally enchant him with her eyes because he can't see them. Gxhhchb LOL

I had a bit of a think, and came to the idea that child from the ruling family of the Swedish Empire would be very cool to have exist in this world of the RP potentially. Albeit it would need some slight border reduction and adjustments, mostly because the HRE is a thing and they had slightly overlapping territory in a couple spots based on what maps I looked at. Albeit This would also affect if anyone was attempting to play a Russian or someone from the baltics.
Wanted to tag y'all because I wanted to both ask but also paying anyone I'm aware of currently that is relevant to that thought.
Worst case scenario I figure I get told no. Which is fine. Just want to run things by here to be sure! :D
