Ruby was relieved that Mie did not seem flustered by her boisterous intrusion. She was clearly enjoying herself and simply wanted to warn Ruby about how skittish the rats could be.

"Oh, of course! I’m so sorry" she whispered. "Small creature does not like big sound. Noted." Ruby uttered quietly to herself in response.

As Mie explained to Ruby the ongoing development of her rat connections, she began to glisten with intrigue. This prompted her to step up as close as she could to the girl, offering no thought to that of personal boundaries. She smiled wide and nodded her head at her.

"That is lovely. Just unbelievable! I mean, I have had my fair share of bonding with rodents and other creatures of the night… but, to make them dance! "

"You have a talent." she exclaimed, still trying to keep her voice down. "My name’s Ruby, by the way." she said soon after realizing that an introduction might be appropriate. "Could we be friends? Show me how to conduct the rats like you?"

"Okay got it. I'm right behind you." Anastasia told Callum and gave him two enthusiastic thumbs up. She watched as the guards removed their boots obediently in reaction to Callum's command and wondered why so many of them had been sent here. She could understand that the Damiens were protective; everyone always said they had been a bit of helicopter parents. However, it made no sense to send this many unless there was some sort of known threat. "And how long has Violet been missing anyway? Sending this big a search party without evidence she's in danger seems like an overreaction." She chimed in.

"You heard Prince Callum... Take off your boots!" The head guard barked suddenly, prompting immediate response. With a sense of urgency, the guards hurried to comply, bending down to unlace their heavy boots. The clatter of metal buckles hitting the ground mixed with the soft thud of leather as each boot was removed. Some of them were fumbling nervously with their laces as the head guard turned once more to the two royals.

"Countess Liliane Damien stated that her daughter was missing from the bedroom she once occupied and that the bedroom was left in a worrisome state. She is concerned for her daughter's safety." He explained. "We had no intentions of interrupting something sacred... or..." His brows furrowed and he crossed his arms as mind circled with thoughts. "...Nonetheless, my apologies, your highnesses. We were only given the information to check the area to see if Lady Violet Damien was present and safe. We will leave at once if that is what you wish."

Huff ..... Pant ..... Huff ..... Pant

Munir's breathing was rushed but steady. His body seemingly moving without a wasted thought or motion from him. For all that was in his mind was chasing after whatever had taken hold of his Moon and Stars. The rushing of branches and crunching of leaves pierced his eardrums but were left behind just as quickly. For the briefest moment, the thought of having to fight off whatever threats stood between him and Mina flashed in his mind. Fear and uncertainty gripped him. Sure, he has received the finest training in all of Alidasht. But he has never had to wet his steel on the flesh of who would be his enemies. That thought also dissipated in his mind.

Come what may. He is going to hold Mina in his arms once again.

Much further back, Munir's loyal retainer Hakim was trying his best to keep up with his lord. They have been bonded since their childhood, first as friends then as lord and servant. Never once has Hakim seen Munir this focus, this committed to one singular task, let alone one woman. In his heart, he can't help but feel joy and warmth for his lord. For it seems like he has finally found the one.

Moon beams would push their way through the foliage at random moments. Munir never lost sight of who he thought was carrying Mina. Suddenly, the shadowy figure that ran ahead of him slowed, and then stopped, allowing Munir to finally understand what he had been chasing after. It was a hulking beast. Grey-maned, razor clawed and looking like something that sprang out from a story book that Mama used to read to him and his siblings. Munir stopped a relatively small distance away, allowing his own breathing to calm and slow as well. Mina was there, and she was unharmed. In that moment, he physically felt a weight being lifted from his shoulders. As Munir slowly slid off the massive creature, it would seem like the creature was somehow...different. Munir would swear that the beast bowed to him...

Reaching out hesitantly, he offered his palm to the creature, as a sign of non-hostility. Then he would clutch some fur at the top of the dire wolf's head, give it a few good ruffles as a sign of gratitude, for keeping Mina safe, before stepping aside and allowing the wolf to run off should it chooses.

His mind, body, and sights, now focused back towards Mina. He was silent. Only the small, trembling, sounds of a sigh escaped his lips. He walked up to her, cautiously, as if saying that if he moved too harshly or too fast she will disappear like the smoke from a fire. Reaching out, with his hands and arms giving way to a small twitch and tremble, he pulled Mina into a tight embrace.

"You. It has always been you. It is you. It will always be you. You are the object of my every desire. You are the master of my fate. You are the captain of my soul...My Moon and Stars. Everything that I have wanted, everything that I want currently, and everything that I will ever want..." Munir had buried his face into the crook of Mina's neck, as tears were streaming from his eyes...

Farim

Location: Edge of Lover's Lake -> Deep within the Forest
Time: Evening
Mentions: Ariella[@tpartywithzombie], Anastasia@princess, Munir[@InfiniteCosmos], Mina/Torvi@Tae and Roman @Reusablesword

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Farim felt the progression of events speed along in his perception. First this supposed kidnapping, then the rampaging of Roman, and now the guards were being demanded to take off their shoes by his newly made friends. Sorian was certainly an interesting place, with interesting events and even more interesting customs Farim began to surmise mentally. The lingering effects of his "fancy potion" began to fade away as the adrenaline began to course through his body at the realization of his cousin chasing off after such a ferocious beast. Sure he might handle himself but Munir was already distracted with this Lady Mina individual - plus they both seemed to be going through interesting visions with morbid implications.

The thoughts ran amok in Farim's mental before he shook his head. He walked up to Anastasia and placed his hand on her back, his palm pushing lightly on the back of his shirt with his fingers resting just along the base of her neck. He spoke calmly and firmly as he continued looking at the gaping hole in the treeline where Roman had just ran through. "Annie. I need to go make sure my cousin does not go get himself killed. If I am not back soon - please look after Thara for me!" Farim turned his head to look at the princess and meet her eyesight if she would do the same, and offer a pleasant smile.

Then he dashed madly across the field, feet bounding along the dirt and grass as he attempted to make up the distance the group had already traveled. On his way out, Farim saw and reached for a spool of rope that happened to be among some random objects, feeling that it might be of use for what he had in mind to hopefully stop the rampaging wildsman.

As the minutes passed, Farim would switch between running, jogging, and sprinting just to make up for any lost time. His mind raced with thoughts of what to expect and who to look out for. Firstly, his cousin, who seemed just about as reckless as he was in this moment. Secondly, this Mina person that his cousin fawned over so dearly. Thirdly, Roman, his frequent business partner that he would prefer to see alive and well. And finally the mysterious woman who orchestrated this entire little getaway. His concern mainly lied with her, but if she had wanted to do harm he felt that she would have simply snatched Mina in the chaos rather than taunt the party-goers. Farim reasoned he could simply subdue first, ask questions later. For now, his query was rapidly approaching.

The man broke through the treeline, beads of sweat falling off his forehead as he panted wildly. The only thing really keeping him going at this point was raw endorphines from the heat of the action - something Farim found rather addicting. He put two fingers together and whistled sharply; attempting to draw the attention of the pair that seemed to be approaching in the clearing. "You there! I do not know where my cousin and his friend may be - but I wish to make sure they are alright. But first, I hope you do not mind if I help secure this big fellow here!" He shouted to Torvi.

Farim then paced his steps, making sure to thud them firmly into the ground before stomping twice in place as if to declare this area "his territory". It was all mainly a show - perhaps to get Roman to charge at him hopefully. He then slid the rope off his shoulder, wrapping it around his hand a few times and tightening it with a satisfying crack "As for you big guy. How about you try and show me just how wild these spirits of yours get, eh?"

“Strong enough to burn, aye.” Zarai flashed Blue a wink, though it felt forced. No fault of the woman, she smelled lovely and had such pretty lips but Gods did she feel like a shit. She hoped that the drinks would help lift her mood, and fast. She poured hefty measures for everyone, The alcohol would hopefully distract Blue from Peter's departure.

Once everyone was gathered in a circle, Zarai positioned herself in the center with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Alright, folks! I’ll be your game host for tonight’s masquerade ball! And don’t forget to show some appreciation to our real host Count Damien! I’ve heard he enjoys onions, be sure to send him a crate tomorrow as a gift of appreciation!" she added with a sly grin.

"Tonight, we’re diving into a game of Never Have I Ever! Let’s keep it lively, shall we?" Zarai swayed her hips in a playful dance, ensuring Blue had an unobstructed view. "Everyone knows how to play, yes? Remember, tonight's the night to let loose and have fun; we don’t know who each other is after all!"

She cleared her throat and began, her voice loud enough for those around her to hear. "Never have I ever… swung a sword." She took a sip from the bottle after deciding it might be nice to make up for that lost drink Peter had stolen from her.

"Never have I ever sparred with someone." Most men and a few women drank to that along with Zarai, and hopefully Blue followed suit.

"Never have I ever kissed a pretty lady," Zarai shot a playful glance at Blue before taking another sip. She then turned to look at Blue, “How about you give us something, sweetness? Something fun, something daring.”

As Roman burst into the clearing, his fury palpable in the air, Torvi's heart raced with exhilaration. She stood her ground, her eyes fixed on the approaching behemoth, a wild grin tugging at the corners of her lips. This was the moment she had been waiting for, the clash of titans in the heart of the forest.

But just as the tension reached its peak, a shrill whistle pierced the air, drawing Torvi's attention away from the impending confrontation. Her gaze fell upon Farim, who had arrived at the scene, his presence disrupting the intensity of the moment just as she was about to charge and meet Roman in the middle.

Torvi's brow furrowed slightly, her excitement momentarily dampened by the interruption. She hadn't anticipated another player entering the fray, especially not at such a critical moment. She cursed to herself in the old tongue as she tried to control her irritation. However, she quickly composed herself, her determination unwavering.

"Careful now, boy," Torvi warned, her voice sharp with disdain. "Do not underestimate him. One wrong move, and he will break you like a twig."

She took a step closer, her eyes flashing with defiance. "As for me, I do not break so easily." With those words, Torvi took off at an alarming speed as she hoped Farim’s appearance may cause some distraction. She dodged around Roman at the very last second before spinning and attempting to leap onto his back with an unnatural strength of her own. He may have been possessed by the spirits tonight, but she drew her own strength from her ancestors as well as Fenrys’ ancestors. The blood of the mythical dire wolves coursed through her body.

Ríoghnach "Riona"
Time: Night
Location: Damien Estate Ballroom
Interaction(s): Shehzadi Nahir @Rodiak; Lordling Smithwood @Helo

Riona mouthed the words over and over, tasting their curious combination. Count Hendrix. Her mind ran through the list of nobility for a match, but that particular combination of appellations didn’t immediately ring a bell. A newly-minted noble, perhaps?

She shook her head at the offered introduction, dismissing it with a polite, “Thank you, but it is unnecessary.” Getting a name was a prize enough. Besides, other things had to be addressed.

Three times Sh*tlord struck a nerve with Riona.

First was his cavalier treatment of the bracelet, tossing it aside like worthless rubbish. “That bracelet may mean little to you, sir,” she chided, gingerly retrieving the jewelry to have a servant return it to its rightful owner. “But to another, it could hold the same sentimental value as the pocketwatch does to you. Pray handle it with more care.” She knew how little he thought of lowborns, but apparently, his callousness extended far beyond, touching all with equal disregard.

Next came his scathing critique of the servants, the overgrown brat snapping that they were “entirely useless” at their duties. Riona felt annoyance prickle her skin. “As you have no doubt noticed, the servants must attend to a great many needs at once. It would be impossible for them to stand sentry over each guest’s belongings. Nor can they be expected to locate what is not reported missing.”

And again when he spoke of her shoe-shopping errand as some grand act of “graciousness” on his part. Like she was supposed to feel gratitude for the chance to repent for his shortcomings.

As Riona parted her lips to deliver a biting retort, she caught herself. Something about Lord Sh*tewood’s behavior seemed off—restrained. His usual haughtiness tempered (even if it was just by a margin), his actions measured.

Following his gaze, Riona realized why: Shehzadi Nahir. The Lordling was putting on his best face for her, hoping to leave a good impression.

An idea struck Riona. She looped her arm boldly through the Shehzadi’s in a show of easy familiarity. With the regal woman as her talisman to ward off the worst of his attitude, Riona rounded on the Lordling again.

“So you deliberately hurled out shoes into the common area… in a temper tantrum?” She let the question hang in the air, her gaze shifted meaningfully from the Shehzadi to Lord Smithwood.

Riona knew the two were acquainted but not how well. As fun as it was spending time with Shehzadi Nahir, what if it was only because she believed Riona to be of exalted birth? If the Shehzadi thought she was keeping company with a commoner, would her demeanor sour like curdled milk? Her fingers around the Shehzadi’s arm tightened fractionally. Gods, Riona hoped not.

“You must enjoy singularly exalted favor with the crown, Lord Smithwood, to treat their esteemed guest house as your own nursery.”

𝒪𝓁𝒾𝓋𝒾𝒶 and Marek

Olivia grabbed a few shots and danced to the music out of tune. For now, she wanted to forget her troubles. She attempted to remain near the foyer, but the crowd kept pushing her. She decided for now she didn’t care; she was lost in her own thoughts and the shots she consumed. She stumbled a few moments after grabbing a shot and caused the waiter to glance backward at her. Olivia ignored him and spun around with careless laughter. The room spun around her and she giggled with fun. It was fun until she bumped into a masked man and glanced at him with an apologetic smile.

”Sorry!” Liv giggled and went to move away, but noticed she had spilled some of her drink. ”Shhhiiit. Let me clean that up for you!” Liv grabbed a towel from a waiter and began to dab at his shirt with laughter. ”These drinks are good!”

As Olivia stumbled and bumped into him, Marek remained still, his gaze fixed on her. His expression, once calm and composed, twisted into a mask of intense fury as their eyes met. When she offered her apologies and attempted to clean up the spill, Marek's lips quirked into a subtle smile beneath his mask.

Unfortunately, Olivia noticed this, but the second her mind focused on it, then it was gone.

”No need to trouble yourself, my dear,” he said smoothly. He gently took the towel from her hand and began to dab at the spill himself.

Olivia watched as he took the towel. Curiously, she tilted her head to the side, mirroring her mask, and watched as he dabbed it up himself.

”Indeed, the drinks here are quite exquisite,” he continued, his tone casual. ”But perhaps you've had your fill for the evening?”

”No way, these drinks and I are friends. Oh by the way I’m Olivia Blackwood. Nice to meet you!” Olivia retorted. She giggled, as if it were the silliest idea on the planet. She set the shot glass on her head and twisted it into a rather clumsy yet elegant curtsy. A voice in the back of her mind pushed her to run away, but the alcohol inside of her numbed it. Liv grabbed the shotglass back into her hand and sipped the remainder of it.

”But I do take your apology to heart and there must be something I can do to resolve the situation better, yes? Your suit musta been expensive!”

A flicker of irritation crossed his feature. ”Olivia Hawthrone." he repeated her name, his tone tinged with a hint of mockery. “An intriguing choice of name you’ve made.”

Olivia watched him speak with her head tilted back to the side. She studied him and set the shot glass back on her head and folded her arms. ”You use a lotta big words.” She replied and giggled. His mockery of her name bewildered her. Why was this man acting hostile? Her heart rate quickened. She instinctively reached to her right side where she’d normally keep her magic book but there was nothing. A shot of panic rose through her.

Marek paused to study her reaction before continuing, “Perhaps we can play a game, Olivia… That would lighten my spirits.” His grin was audible in his tone as he leaned in closer to speak lowly in her ear. “You take off your mask …and I’ll take off mine.”

”A game, huh.” Olivia watched as a waiter came by and took her shot glass from her head. She huffed and grabbed another quickly before he disappeared. Her mind kept yelling at her to run but her mind was drowning from the alcohol. These were some strong drinks… ”That sounds a bit bold, don’t you think?” Olivia laughed as the adrenaline coursed through her. She laughed and removed it from half her face. ”Boo!”

There was a dark glint in his eye as he remained in his position. With deliberate slowness, his hand crept to his mask, lifting it from its place. “That mask is not the one I was speaking of,” he murmured. “You see, there's another mask you are wearing... But no need to take it off. I already see through it.”

Olivia’s smile remained on his face until he began to speak. Then, it crumbled like a cookie in milk. A cold chill rushed through her despite the warmth of the night. ”....” She went to speak, but no sound came out, and her heart rate intensified so loudly it was a wonder nobody could hear it.

Marek's touch sent a chill down her spine as he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. His voice, barely above a whisper, carried a weight of dread as he uttered a single word in her ear:

“Persephone.”

When he touched her hair, Olivia recoiled, but didn’t move. Her feet were planted to the floor like she was a flower being potted. The color drained from her face. What was going on? Did the magic spell do nothing? The shot glass she had in her hand abruptly fell. The loud shatter of glass caused people to look over with curiosity, but Olivia didn’t notice. Who was this man? How did he know? Why did he know? Was he one of Calbert’s lackeys? That meant….

”....I.. What? I don’t…” Olivia stammered. Now her mind was loud enough to hear her yells. She ignored the broken glass, and turned on her heels and ducked into the crowd. The crowd had split like the red sea with a mix of curiosity, bewilderment and surprise. Olivia quickly disappeared into the crowd.

Charlotte and Fritz disappeared from her mind entirely and she shot outside quickly into the night. The guards who had been chattering near the door watched her abruptly sprint out and called to her, but she ignored them. Her heart rate was intense like a war drum. She took off her godforsaken heels and grabbed her dress so she could run faster.

A mix of turquoise and black wandered near Marek. There was a shnort of derision and amusement as the figure passed and then disappeared as quickly as they had come.

Marek returned the mask to his face, a low chuckle escaping his lips.

Lord Leo Smithwood

Time: Evening
Location: Masquerade Ball: Damien Estate
Interactions: Fritz/Riona @JJ Doe, Nahir @Rodiak,
Mentions: Watch-thief Suspect #1 @Potter
Daily Misfortune: An annoyingly high-pitched voice and random fits of laughter.
Predictable Costume: Leo the Lion

Leo couldn’t help but wonder about Nahis’s choice of friends; if the other woman even was a friend and not simply a fresh acquaintance. “Indeed it might, but the keeper of the lost and found, I am not. Splintering one’s focus is the best way to ensure nothing gets accomplished.” He replied, it was simply not his responsibility to track down the owner of a lost object. The way the woman in orange went on about servants stirred a chuckle. “I can assure you it is not an impossible task to cater to one’s guest while ensuring no crimes are committed during a party.” Leo didn’t find this to even be a high standard either, only a baseline expectation.

“My mother hosts many events, they tend to be a bit livelier than this, and all without a hitch. A testament to proper leadership.” Despite the turmoil in their relationship, Leo never missed an opportunity to remind people that Dutchess Smithwood excelled at her duty. “But seeing is believing, so might I have your name so I can ensure an invite to the next gala in Stravy reaches you along with Shahzadi Nahir and her family?” He offered, before turning to Nahir. “The views in autumn are exceptional. Expansive forests with the leaves painting a tapestry of warm colors, and the harbor is often described as breathtaking.” He talked up Stravy.

Since no further information on the likely thieves was relayed to him, and the unknown woman seemed more invested in talk of footwear than thieves it was clear that this conversation was becoming nothing more than a waste of time. The woman locked arms with Nahir like she was trying to forge a strange alliance against him. Over decluttering his room? He kept a tempered response in the presence of royalty. He rephrased the exaggerated tale she’d spun.

“Strange, to paint me as the villain when I simply removed the collection of gaudy footwear,” The irony of ‘gaudy’ coming from a man in a lion themed outfit, slippers and all, was lost on Leo. “That cluttered up my room and put it outside for the responsible party to clean up. But I should get back to my devious plan of finding my stolen watch. I wish you and Shahzadi Nahir a wonderful evening.” He offered a respectful bow and resumed his quest to find his watch. Leo scanned the crowd for a woman in dark blue with gloves.

A lull in the music timed with the scattering of glass caught his attention. A sea of faces turned to look as a woman matching that description ran from the ball. His prime suspect on the run, so close to an escape, with his pocketwatch nowhere to be found.

“There’s been a pickpocket stealing around the ball tonight.” Leo rushed to the nearest guard. “I bet that’s her.” He explained.

And then the giggling returned.

As Munir's arms enveloped her in a tight embrace, Mina felt a flood of conflicting emotions wash over her. She could feel the weight of his love and devotion, his tears mingling with her own, but beneath it all, there was a nagging sense of guilt and uncertainty.

His words, filled with passion and sincerity, echoed in her mind, tugging at her heartstrings in a way she couldn't ignore. Yet, despite the depth of his feelings, she couldn't shake the overwhelming sense of fear and apprehension that had taken hold of her.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Mina gently pulled away from Munir's embrace only enough to look at him, her gaze meeting his with a mixture of sadness and resolve. "Munir," she began softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "I... I care for you deeply, you know that. But... there are things you don't understand. Things that weigh on me heavily."

Her words faltered for a moment as she struggled to find the right way to explain herself, the effects of the drink from the ritual still lingering in her mind. "I've been avoiding you, not because I don't love you, because I do love you deeply, but it’s because... because I'm scared and don’t know the right choices to make currently." She paused, her eyes searching his for understanding.

But before she could continue, a sudden onslaught of voices erupted in her mind, drowning out her thoughts and causing her to wince in pain. Gripping her head in her hands and knocking her headdress off, Mina let out a pained cry as the whispers of the dead grew louder and more insistent.

"N-no... not now," she muttered, her voice strained with agony as she struggled to block out the overwhelming noise.

”Miiinnaaaaa…” A voice so familiar and yet so distant in her memory called out tauntingly to her. ”Keep it up Mina. He’ll think you’re crazy too, they all will just like they thought I was…” The voice of her mother let out a laugh as Mina tried to block her out, gritting her teeth.

"Shut up, shut up, shut UP!" She screamed out as the voices got louder. Her legs gave out beneath her, and she sank to the ground, her hands still clutching her head as she tried to make sense of the chaotic cacophony assaulting her senses.

"Why must they all be so loud?" She whimpered, but then there was a new voice she’d never heard before.

”How interesting, you can hear the spirits? A rare skill indeed, little witch.” The voice was deep, almost soothing and, despite it being only in her mind, felt as if it came from behind her. Mina managed to briefly glance behind her to see the large wolf still there and watching her closely. It was then that she realized he was in her head. ”Make the man take you from here, the spirits are awake and restless tonight. And be cautious, little witch. There are those that hunt you.” With that, Fenrys bowed his head once more before turning and slowly walking away from the pair, heading back towards his mistress. Mina sent a small ‘thank you’ in his direction before trying to look back up at Munir.

"Munir…I-I need out of here, please…I promise to explain more, I just-" She let out another soft cry of pain, wincing as she gripped tighter at her head and tears began to spill down her cheeks.

The young lady that had been sent to entertain her was charming, but there was something hollow to her. The half of her that was dedicated to following her current order of “attend a party” quickly subdued that thought, while the charming young country girl stepped forward to enjoy the event and lavish in the attention. It was such a novel thing, to have had someone sent to occupy her. Even if the circumstances were somewhat suspicious, she’d gotten her fife back, so her personal interest in that matter was at an end.

Her latest accompaniment explained the game she'd had in mind and they were off. Never Have I Ever? Was that a common game in the capital? She was more used to drinking rhymes and more physical games. Luckily for her, the first round was easy to suss out the rules. As most of the men drank, but fewer women, she supposed that she would be drinking for having swung a sword.

Sparring? Aye, she sparred pretty regularly with some of the other knights. She usually did it to teach those she thought she could help improve, so after the next round (which she also drank for kissing), she'd had a thought ready.

O~oh, shall I? Alrigh’y,” Stratya smiled coyly under the playful gaze. “Never ‘ave I evur,” she paused to consider it, continuing thoughtfully, “lost a spar.. Oooh, ack, ney, ‘at's a lie. Haaa haha.” She'd neglected to count all the spars she'd lost to her father, growing up, which.. technically count. She took a sip for her lie. She'd probably lost other times, too, honestly. She distinctly remembered never losing to anyone else in her village, at least. “Even if i’ was m’trainin’ as a lass, I still lost. Le’s see, never ‘ave I evur..

A glass shattered somewhere, but it wasn't in the immediate area. Never had it been so hard to ignore her usual inquisitive duties. Her attention snapped to its direction, but she slowly pulled herself away from her professional curiosity to come back to the party at hand. The thought in her mind completed as she did, “broken a glahss..” she'd said it rather absentmindedly, before her attention returned in full. “Ah, er, never ‘ave evur I burned anythin’ to a crisp, cookin’ it.” Actually, that seemed somewhat likely. How many people here actually cooked, themselves?

outfit: plaid kilt in his family colors, wearing a snow bear skull headdress/ mask, bones of the bear down his arms back and rib cage, body paint in the form of runes, no shirt or shoes.

The beast of a man held his arms out wide and took his fighting stance. The red ruby's in the bear skull were locked onto the women in front of him. With every breath steam billowed from under the mask into the cool night air. Another who deemed it necessary to interrupt spoke up.

He did not understand or hear the man’s words through the orchestra of emotions and voices that filled his mind, Roman could barely remember his face. He shifted his stance slightly to look at the interloper. This was not his target, and he did not feel threatened by the man and his string. The look and feeling Farim might feel as the skull looked at him, regarding his presence as no more than a mosquito, the feeling he got would be like that of someone gazing up at their imminent doom. A silent warning, the only one he would receive.

The momentary break in contact between the bear and Torvi was enough to catch him off guard even for a moment. Her speed and agility were not something he entirely expected, his surprise did not show outwardly, his body attempting to twist and match her, but she still found purchase on his back. Her grip would not last but a moment. The beast crouched and twisted then lunged back with powerful legs intent on hammering the girl between himself and the nearest tree.

The carriage circled the estate for what felt like hours. Its slow pace moved like molasses as Violet peered out the window at a place she once called home. Her red eyes sought through the crowds of people that littered the entrance all laughing, smiling and likely talking about things she could care less about.

Leaning back against the rest of the carriage as it vibrated gently from cobblestone underneath, she rested her head against the back letting out a long and drawn-out sigh. She wanted to brave the party, to walk in there with her chin high for everyone to see just how strong she was. And she certainly felt strong…

Her vision had nearly returned to its full strength if not better. Somehow Violet was able to see such vivid colors and the blackest of blacks. The world somehow looked so beautiful now yet she couldn’t help but still hate it. Flashes of blood flitered her mind, like flashes from a camera. Constantly reminding her of what she had done, constantly reminding her who she had killed.

She didn’t even remember his name…

But she remembered his. Alexander…

As her mind began to settle on everything she felt … confused. She wanted to hate him, and she wanted to thank him but she was afraid of him. What was to become of her? Could she live a life of taking others, could she maybe come out of this?

The clacking of the hooves continued to stomp on the cobblestone when it suddenly stopped. Peeking from behind the drapes of the carriage, Violet was met with beautiful hedges, trimmed into the cleanest shapes. They moved around as if creating a fence behind the gardens that decorated the back of the estate. Violet's red eyes shifted from side to side unseeing of anyone near when she decided to finally step out.

Moving out into the cool night air, Violet's semi-sheer vibrant red, figure-hugging gown sparkled with the moon. She wore her hair down, curled in soft waves that adorned her back as her black locks framed her pale face, making her red eyes pop even more in the evening.

She always enjoyed the night. She wondered if that was fates cruel way of preparing her for what was to come. Looking over her shoulder she watched the carriage take off, pausing for a moment as she realized now she was stuck. Looking back at the estate and then glancing once again over her shoulder into the dark forest behind the estate her mind began to flourish with ideas.

She could run…

Farim

Location: Deep within the Forest by Lover's Lake
Time: Evening
Mentions: Torvi@Tae and Roman @Reusablesword

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Farim raised an eyebrow at this mysterious woman referring to her as a "boy". But if anything that simply showed him how despite her vitality - she may have some years to back up her wisdom. Just as their exchange ended a cold stare like the visage of death came from Roman. It was as if a warning was being sent straight into his very being - to the core of his soul. For a brief moment he felt that shocking chill run along his back, before a wild fire burned behind his eyes. As if he dared this amalgamation to be the thing that would kill Farim Kadir.

Then the two mighty warriors clashed in the clearing - Farim's little distraction had done just as much as he had hoped. With dexterous reflexes Farim broke into a full on sprint to follow the duo as Roman moved to smash the woman onto a nearby tree. "Believe me mysterious woman..." He shouted as he moved to catch up to the pair. Farim's goal here was to wait for that crucial moment that Roman shifted his body weight into the slamming motion against the tree - that is when he would strike. A simple leg sweep at one of the man's legs would do. Anything to shift the weight of his charge so he would stumble or fall and not slam this mysterious assailant against the harsh bark.

Farim ducked and rolled, placing himself below the pair as he kicked his leg out in a swift kick to the back of Roman's calf. "I count on this man's strength!" He chuckled as he would make the connecting hit - and immediately push backwards to gain some distance regardless of its success. Standing up, rope still in hand, Farim smirked. "Because back home the biggest ones always fell the hardest."

Drake

Attire: Mask, Jacket, and Pants/Shoes
Time: Evening of the 23rd
Location: Damien Estate
Mentions: Zarai @Rodiak and Stratya @CitrusArms

The night following his meeting with Wulfric was proving to be somewhat of a humdrum event. Everything seemed rather typical for these high society parties that Drake was finding himself somewhat bored of the proceedings. He had barely seen his parents, and given some passing conversations to a few interesting guests, but overall he found himself wanting a little more something tonight. Something to keep the edge away - to forget about his fight with his sister, and the way he felt his heartfelt crush on Princess Camilia slipping away with each day. He silently cursed himself for being so melancholy at what was supposed to be a chipper event. But after a few minutes of roaming around - finally there seemed to be something that caught his eyes.

A small gathering around some drinks with a riveting little party game that he had heard of in times past. As the questions were rifled off, he took a few gracious steps with his cane clacking against the marble floors. He stopped just on the outer ring of people and held an already filled glass of bourbon he had recently acquired from a waiter in his hand. "Pardon the intrusion. I hope you do not mind if The Musician joins you all for this musical number." He jokingly said aloud in his gawdy caricature of a voice. Swirling the glass in his hand he pondered each of the statements aloud.

"Have I ever...swung a sword?" He raised the glass to his lips, teasing the notion of a sip before pulling back and wiggling his finger. "I'm afraid not."

"Have I ever...sparred with someone?" He once again raised the glass, this time taking a proper gulp of the smooth bourbon as he recalled a few memories that might fit the bill. "Once when I was a young lad I got into a proper scrap, and I have been known to duel a few of my compatriots with target dummies and flintlocks." He smirked.

"Have I ever...kissed a pretty lady?" His head shook, a slightly somber sound to his voice as he responded. "Non non non. I have not I am afraid. Perhaps time shall tell?" He chuckled before pondering the next question, this one from the young lady with a particularly interesting accent.

"Have I ever...lost a spar?" He nodded and took a concise sip of his glass, one third of its contents now gone to the reaches of his gullet. "I am afraid so. I am certainly not the best shot in Sorian - so I take a loss here and there at target practice."

It was then that the shattering of the glass put the party into a momentary stop - all eyes shot to the one girl who seemed to be frozen with fear. Drake's outward character dropped for a moment at the thought of someone being so perturbed they would cause such a distressful reaction. But before he could think much of it, the woman dashed off. "I can't say that I have broken a glass in recent memory no." His voice switched back his normal calm and bass-filled thrum before he resumed the goofy character once more.

"Ah right. Have I ever cooked something to a crisp? Why yes in fact!" He took an enthusiastic drink this time, and just as a servant made a passing glance, requested for a refill of his particular brand of bourbon that he was enjoying. There was a slight wiggle in the way he placed the empty glass on the serving tray and retrieved a new one - but he kept his composure all the same. "Sadly that piece of bread had no idea what fate it would serve with me at the wheel. I left it on the burner for a few minutes too long and suddenly the house smelt awful." He chuckled as he thought of what he could add to this fun little game that he was enjoying.

"Now with that I believe I am all caught up. I hope I am not intruding, by the way. Speak the word and I shall return to my musings!" He paused for dramatic effect as he phrased a question to ask. "But before you say your answer - let me say this! Never have I ever...drank until I became sick." He crossed his arms and awaited the reponse of those present.

“Hai Ruby! I don't know that it's a talent though. We just work together to help each other out. I don't control them but they're friends. They really express a lot of emotions, as well do i. We just take care of each other.”

Mie had an idea to hell and try to bond with Ruby “do you want anything to snack on?

“Hey Dostoevsky, can you bring us some snacks”

The the rat was happy to hear Mie ask to bring some snacks because Dostoevsky new he can take a few bites and meet a new friend as well.

“squeak squeak” Said Dostoevsky the rat.

“That you my love. Help yourself Ruby! Onion, an apple, some fish and cheese… I guess half a cheese block”

Mie knew exactly what happened to the cheese, looks over and laughed to Ruby.

“ I suppose that's the cheese tax”

Time: Night
Location: Edge of Lover’s Lake-Roman Ceremony
Interactions: City Guards, Ana@princess, Ari@Tpartywithzombi

A wide grin overtook his serious expression as the guards scrambled to remove their boots. Metal clanked and rattled, some of them nearly toppled over in their haste to follow his command. He hadn’t expected a silly demand, coming from him, to be followed as faithfully as it was, and his reaction was to delight in the brief moment of power and control he wielded. Quickly the grin vanished.

“You have already been told to leave this place by myself, Princess Anastasia, and Prince Munir Ibn Raif al Kadir. I should not have to repeat that.” A voice that barely seemed to belong to him continued. “And inform Countess Damien that a messy room and her inability to keep track of her daughter is not a valid reason to show contempt for our honored guests. Neither I, nor Princess Anastasia, will tolerate any further disrespect towards Varian or Alidasht.” Callum shouted, everyone in attendance would have no trouble hearing that. After all, he had told Wulfric he would work on improving relations with their foreign neighbors, and this was merely him keeping his word. It wasn’t Cal’s fault the beloved Damiens had caused an incident.

Once the guards had taken their leave he draped one arm around Ari’s shoulders and the other on Ana’s. “Thanks for the backup, think I could ask for one more favor? This has been enough excitement for me, I’d like a peaceful, unfollowed, walk back home. Think the two of you could help cause a distraction so I can lose my guards?” He asked, looking first at Ana, “Maybe rile everyone up for your night swim after party?” He suggested before turning to Ari, “And we can continue our talk tomorrow?” He offered, with a smile that conveyed he was certainly up to something tonight.

Nahir stood there, quietly observing the both of them bicker. A smile tugged at her lips, but she pressed a finger against her lower lip to stop it, as if in thought. In truth, she found Leo's attitude rather— she wasn't what word she'd use. But the pout that slipped out with the end of every sentence was almost cute. And his voice, she'd not mention it before trying to spare him the explanation but her dance partner did not seem to be on the same page. It only served to find him even more endearing seeing him hide his irritation... and was that a hint of embarrassment perhaps?

"It is a lovely bracelet," Nahir hummed, examining it closely as her dance partner picked it up from the table where it had been tossed so carelessly. "I do hope that your pocket watch has not suffered the same fate."

With a reassuring pat on his arm and a smile, she continued, "I'll inquire with Count Damien and hope some pressure will encourage him to find the culprits and the stolen items. Who knows what else these thieves must have taken from other attendees." She full-heartedly agreed that the security in these events, with attendees such as them, was reason enough to tighten security and ensure it all ran smoothly. In the many events Nahir had hosted herself, she'd always place guards disguised as guests to mingle in the crowd. Partly for safety, but most importantly to gather information disguised as gossip. "It seems that the standard of safety in Sorian is not a top priority."

Nahir then turned to study her dance partner, who seemed to care a great deal about the servants of the estate and the guest house. Such empathy was not often found among the upper class, which only strengthened Nahir's growing theory about her.

"Oh, a visit to Stravy would be wonderful, don't you think?" Nahir's excitement held a flirtatious edge. "I only wish to return the favor to you, Lord Smithwood. It'd be lovely to host you during the winter. I do not wish to punish you with our hot summers." She flashed him a teasing smile.

As the woman locked arms with her, Nahir had to suppress the chuckle rising in her throat. Should she entertain her bold dance partner, or sympathize with the lord? She already knew Leo would not say anything to slight her, so why not get another glance at that pout before he left?

"One must always show respect to our hosts and their esteemed guest house," Nahir remarked casually, her shoulder lifting in a subtle shrug. "It's wise to stay on the good side of the servants too. I've found they're more inclined to help with a smile when we don't leave a mess in the halls."

With a smile, Nahir bid Leo farewell. "Good luck with your search, Leo."

Once he had left, she turned to her dance partner, a playful glint in her eyes. "Quite a handful, isn't he? Adorable." She placed a hand over her arm, squeezing gently.

"Well now, will my nameless and lovely dance partner finally introduce herself?"

Ece watched from her post. She had found a rather comfortable spot atop a tree, her form obscured from those below her enough to render her practically invisible. It was rather comfortable too, and for that she was grateful. She’d been sitting here since the first guest arrived. Ece had informed Nahir of what would be Munir’s and Farim’s whereabouts before the ball and she’d instructed her to follow them and observe. Only observe.

The ceremony and the Varian customs were… interesting. Intriguing even. But she wondered now if real magic was at play, or was it just their herbal teas?

The whole thing was getting rather boring until the ritual began. Ece had perked up, suddenly interested in the song and dance being performed. It was… beautiful. Calming of sorts. She swayed side to side along with the melody of the song until she noticed the gradual change of Lord Ravenwood. It may have been a trick of the light from the fire, but his shadows took the form of a bear for a second. And to add, Sorian guards showed up just in time to interrupt and cause Ravenwood to go mad. Ece was still trying to make sense of things.

Ece remained up in her tree through it all. If Munir or Farim were to be attacked or harmed in any way it were her orders to not intervene. Not that she would have, if a freak accident with a bear-man was to happen then it all would be so much easier for Nahir.

When the giant wolf showed up and carried Lady Blackwood away from the ceremony and Munir gave chase Ece did not spring into action immediately. She was far more interested in what Farim was currently doing. The soft touch, the light and gentle fingers. His easy smile and prolonged eye contact. So this is what that little meeting had been about. Looked like she owed Lady Miha a coffee date.

It wasn’t until Farim began to chase after Manir did she gave chase.

Ece made sure to keep her distance, blanketed by the shadows and confusion of what was happening. Quiet as a mouse, she climbed up the tree to keep her scent far from the large animal. The situation was dangerous. The woman with the wolf was dangerous. Lord Ravenwood was dangerous. From here Ece could see the rippling muscles and trained stance. She was ready to fight.

As the scene unfolded before Ece, she made sure to study the woman closely. Her lady may want to know about any interesting persons, and a woman with a wolf that size would certainly be one interesting tale.

The world was shifting from side to side, and everything sounded distant. Zarai's fingertips were numb, and when she licked her lips, they were numb, too. The sound of glass breaking in the distance snapped her out of her drunken daze and back into the game at hand.

Only Blue, two male nobles, and their newly acquired participant drank to ‘burned anything to a crisp’. Zarai herself did not drink. Anytime she was caught in the kitchens by the maids or any of her tutors, she’d be met with a harsh slap to the hand. Even if she wanted to, Zarai had never touched a cooking utensil, let alone the ingredients.

“You are not welcome to cook in my kitchens, good sir!” Zarai laughed at the man with the pretty hair. “Ah, you get it! Now, ladies and gentlemen, do answer truthfully.” She began pouring more alcohol around their circle, trying her best not to spill any of the marvelous liquid.

She drank to his question, of course. She recalled the last time she had drunk so much was during a night out in the town after a terrible day at home. The back of her legs still hurt from the ruler, but Zarai was determined to drink herself stupid. Fortunately, it happened to be a night when her new group of friends were there. She remembered emptying her stomach right after one of their musical numbers ended.

“Never have I ever…” Zarai tapped her finger on her chin, trying really hard to form a question in her mind. Words were swimming all around, and anytime she tried to form a question, they’d just drift apart before she could even speak it. “…how about… never have I ever imagined the King wearing pink underwear! All of you must drink… for you are picturing it in your mind right this second.” She drank straight from the bottle again, one arm on Blue’s to keep her steady.

“Anyone got some more? We… wemustkeepthisgame… going!” The mask felt suffocating, as if it were melding into her skin, becoming part of her. Despite its discomfort, she clung to it, its anonymity giving her some solace. No one knew her true identity at this moment, and the alcohol promised to erase her troubles, at least temporarily. A welcomed escape from the overwhelming urge to cry that gnawed at her insides.
