"Probably wanted to 'convince' him to join the Varjans. Not standard tactics but there's precedence. That's how they managed to grow so fast over the years too. So we got some time, they'll need to reorganized too since they lost the momentum."
Skarsneek

"Ha! I sayeth most wondrous of luck with those folk!" takeshi respond'd to Skarsneek with utt'r confidence. "My fath'r isn't the most flexible p'rson out th're. Aft'r what the varjans didst, that gent wouldst asketh nay less than the varjan king's headeth bef're that gent can beest hath brought to the table. "

T'wast then yond Shizuka did pull Takeshi hence f'r a private chat.

"Also, who are you?"
Skarsneek

Revuel wast genuinely surpris'd to discov'r yond that gent and Skarsneek has't not hath met yet. "We has't not hath met? I wast h're at which hour the temple wast did attack, Sir Skarsneek. Well, I supposeth things w're going quaint festinate then. " the spellcast'r then clear'd his throat. "Allow me to introduceth myself. I am Revuel Arvida. F'rm'r warlock of the Scarce Legion, most of whom art anon assaulting this island. "

"I cameth at which hour I hath heard many scarce legionnaires gath'r'd h're. F'rtunately, I hath met with mistress Kyouko who is't did point me at the right direction. "

Gringor arriv'd at Terauchi Temple with his spoils, a wagon with sev'ral boxes of unknown items and an unconscious prison'r did clothe in black.

"Ho, gring'r!" Takeshi did greet. "What has't thee did get th're?"

A curious Revuel hath opened one of the boxes and did see yond th're w're pots inside enwheeling an unknown white powd'r. The spellcast'r tooketh noteth of the scent bef're dipping a fing'r into the powd'r and giving t a licketh. "looks dang'rous, smells dang'rous and tastes dang'rous. " yond wast revuel's v'rdict. "....This one goes to Quinn....This one's for Orissa. Should probably ask her if she wants to sing at my wedding....This goes to Wendy. Oh, I should probably ask if she wants to make the wedding cake for the event. It'll bring in so much rep for her business...."

Refreshed and glowing from a passionate nest building, Kerry strode out of the temple, flicking the invitation letters to the sky as she made her way to the grounds. Instead of falling to the ground, the letters poofed in a cloud of glittering silver, true to Alice's word that they were delivered to the name of the invited guest, no matter where they were.

"This one's for Xena. Doubt that mantis will dress up for this shindig, but one can hope.....Oh gods, Clara and Fara? Those two kobolds had better behave themselves....One for Shane Maros, daddy dearest.....And the last one goes to........Mom."

The final invitation held in her chitinous hands, the name Pandora Maros written elegantly on the parchment. The hornet took a deep breath before toss the letter into the air, disappearing and sent to its recipient.

"It's done. Invitations sent. No turning back now.", Kerry spoke, dusting her hands. "Heh....wow. I'm actually getting married. This.....this is r-really happening......Hehehe...."

As she giggled at what the prospective future held, Kerry would notice the rest of the taskforce finally returning from their quests. And judging from smiles and captured Varjans, the liberation of Komatsu Bay was a success. Obviously, with the winds now in their favor, Takeshi was eager to finally make an offensive push, starting with rescuing his father, Hideo Oja.

About time the winds shifted in our favor., she thought to herself as she approached to greet and congratulate her teammates, when she remembered one crucial detail. Actually, two.

Alice's return......and their little miracle.

"Uuuuh, hey guys.", Kerry announced herself, now unsure of how to go about breaking this news. "I see y'all are back taking back Komatsu Bay. Awesome. Maybe now, we can start taking it to those Varjan asshats. And while you were gone...

Alice, Carroll and Eula just walked out of the temple when Kerry gestured with her thumb back toward the trio.

"....Guess who came back to us?"

Skarsneek of the Red Hills

"Huh, so what made you change side Revuel?" Skarsneek one eyebrow rose as he rubbed the front of his head where he had headbutted the other sorcerer. "Usually you folks always scream to high heaven and hell that you're gonna kill us all."

Was it blunt? Yes, in Skarsneek's humble opinion. It was the best way to gauge how the other person reacts, whether they're actually a turncoat or a double agent.

It certainly wasn't because he has a grudge against them, no way, he was the most unbiased person when it came to Varjans. Totally!

"Well, welcome to Shizuyama, it's the current rainy season so bring an umbrella wherever you go." Whatever answer he received, Skarsneek rolled his shoulders and slapped the back of Reveul before feeling a huge headache coming when he sensed something in the air.

And true to his gut, when he turned around, the devil himself came.

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe

Rolling the cart around, Gringor finally reached their camp as he ignored the looks given to him and the cart. Singlemindedly pushing it to the center and giving a questioning look ocassionaly whenever someone comes close to the cart.

It was his loot, no one takes his loot.

Though his nose flared and sighed when he recognized the scent, rolled his shoulders and kept a more wary look. Can never be too careful around the goblins, always taking and stealing things.

"Warboss, came back after a fight. It was fun." Gringor curtly said with a sneer as he tilted his head to the unconscious form of that mercenary. "Brought another boi back for the band, right after bashing 'is noggin in."

"Not sure, but smells bad." He answered as Revuel checked his loot though he glared at the goblin coming close to do the same. "But it's all Gringor, and none for gobbo."

"I won't even touch you if you pay me, orc." Skarsneek said as he swiped at the white powder and let it touch his tongue before spatting it to the sides. "We're gonna have to let someone else identify what it is, could be some alchemy regents."

@AzureKnight

"Hey, Shizuka. Our orc here brought something back!" Skarsneek waved and shouted at their leader when he spotted him as he stood on top of the cart to get his attention. "You know what this is?"

Eitherways, Gringor would go and store it somewhere secluded and far away from the village. He also made sure to keep it dry as well by quickly crafting a crude shelter for the thing.

Later on at night and after refreshing themselves, the two attended the meeting hosted by Takeshi as he explained and outlined that they're now prepared to move into their final operation.

Skarsneek huffed as he crossed his arms, while Gringor grinned at that. It was time for their counter-strike and both could barely wait for it to come.

@Enkryption@Rezod92

As they're dismissed, Kerry came and announced Alice return?

"Oh, she did? Great!" Skarsneek said as he looked at Alice while Gringor only tilted to the sides, head tilted and perplexed. Wondering when did the latter left.

Though laying eyes on Alice, the two had a different reaction.

"That's Alice? Aren't you a little different?" Skarsneek said as he observed with his eyes and senses, sure, the weapon and all are the same but the mana was subtly different compared to the Alice he knows.

"Is gobbo blind, it's the same scent," Gringor commented crudely as his nose picked up the scent, there was a bit of difference but it was all the same.

Skarsneek spun to look at Gringor in disbelief, wondering if the latter eyes are working properly before turning to his wife and sister-in-law to whisper to her. "That's a different Alice right?"

Gringor started to leave as Alice left without much of an acknowledgment to them, which was typical of her and but confirming that it's the same Alice.

Though when Gringor received a flying letter from nowhere, as he snatched it mid-air, he looked at the invitation title. Lots of big words but one part had his undivided attention.

A surge of pheromones came as Gringor thumbed his fingerprint on the paper hard enough that it crumpled before he tossed it to the sides, all but signing his presence as he tromped to prepare himself for another payback. An orc doesn't back down from a fight, much less a high orc.

For Skarsneek, he too saw the same invitation and showed it to Atsuha. "Well, this is a party it but bachelor and bachelorette?"

"Hey, Kerry, who're you getting married to?" He asked as he waved the invitation to her.

Terauchi Temple

@PaulHaynek @The Irish Tree @Restalaan @Crowvette @Rezod92 @Enkryption

The journey back to Terauchi was uneventful, thankfully, as after the struggle the team endured at Komatsu Shizuka was certain that none of his teammates looked forward to another possible battle any time soon. Shizuka looked at the sleeping Liliana that he caressed in his hands, smiling at her.

"Rest up, Lili-chan, you've earned it." He said with a proud tone.

After returning, Shizuka placed Lili on a nearby flower bud to allow her to continue resting, then pulled Takeshi to the side for a moment...

After parting ways with Takeshi and ensuring that Na'Kratz was properly bound, the group were greeted by Gringor and an oddly nervous Kerry. Gringor seemed to have brought back a prisoner of his own - one he was familiar with.

"Yes, I do know him. He's a mercenary hired by the Varjan to circulate some type of strange drug across the region. I see you were able to subdue and capture him despite his impressive regenerate powers, that's quite impressive Gringor-san." He said to Skarsneek. "Just find a safe place to tuck him away at, and we'll deal with him at a more appropriate time." He then said to Gringor. He then turned to Kerry, who held news that was much more...strange.

The hornet merc motioned toward the return of Alice, Carroll, and Eula. Alice and Carroll still held the strange new forms from before, and Eula looked as though she had been faring better at this point. He then noticed a parchment of invitation materialized in the air above him, which he caught. Recognizing Alice's chi signature on it, he opened and inspected it. He then gave Kerry a look.

"Kerry-san." He started. "I, I don't understand. What is the meaning of this? A marriage at a time like this?? Who are you getting married to?" He said, mirroring Skarsneek's question.

"Hey, Kerry, who're you getting married to?"

"Kerry-san. I, I don't understand. What is the meaning of this? A marriage at a time like this?? Who are you getting married to?"

"Well obviously, the marriage isn't happening right now. That'd be irresponsibly stupid.", Kerry scoffed, obviously stalling. Upon realizing she was, she decided to bite the bullet. "A-And to answer the question....It's Alice. Alice and I are getting married."

And it was after that particular bombshell that Kerry made the executive decision to drop another one on the taskforce leader.

"A-And......hehe......I'm also carrying.....our unborn.....c-child."

Now Kerry really wished Alice and Carroll didn't go off with Lili. While she understood that they needed to talk and it was a dispute that all three of them had to resolve alone, it would definitely be more bearable if the mad hatter were here to show a display of unity.

Alas, now the hornet will have to bear the initial brunt of a dragon being caught unaware.

@Rezod92

Skarsneek blinked once, twice before raising a finger and mouth opened to comment before closing them back. One hand rubbed the back of his head at that.

Now, it wasn't like it was unheard since he knows that there potions granting other mamono ways to simulate a male genitals. He had personal experience before.

But never, had he heard of it succeeding in giving a child. Ever.

That alone should be far more groundbreaking than him being male.

Wait wait, maybe he was overthinking it. The answer is probably simpler.

So with that, he clapped his hands together in revelation."Ah, so Alice is a guy?"

Then a moment came before he shook his head. "Wait, that's not right, that's my stick."

Skarsneek

"That decision was made for me, Sir Skarsneek." Revuel cordially replied. "It's a rather long and complicated affair but let's just say that once my Legion swore loyalty to Varjo, they did not consider me and many others as one of them."

"And worry not about me concerning precipitation. If I am sufficiently inconvenienced, I can simply conjure a simple barrier to drape around myself and ward off the water." The spellcaster smirked. "Although I have to say, the weather in Shizuyama is quite erratic."

<O’ FRABJOUS DAY~! You [Recipient Name Here] are so cordially invited to the Alice and Kerry’s Bachelor/Bachelorette Double Feature Heavenly Strike Reclamation Party For Tying Up Loose Ends Before A Big Rescue Mission!! RSVP! Or, be a loser, and don’t!>

A magical invitation sent by Alice materialized in front of the taskforce members, detailing an excursion to finally deal with the traitorous students of the Heavenly Strike technique once and for all. The sender was still somewhere outside Terauchi Temple with Liliana so a rendezvous will be needed if any of the taskforce members wanted to inquire about the details.

"A-And......hehe......I'm also carrying.....our unborn.....c-child."
Kerry Maros

"Ah, so Alice is a guy? Wait, that's not right, that's my stick."
Skarsneek

"Ahh, so that's what Revuel was being cagey about." Takeshi emerged from behind Shizuka. "And yeah, Revuel also thinks that Alice is a guy and I guess, this is what he meant about that. I may have to recontextualize and reconcile some memories if that's true..."

"Anyway, not even a week has passed and you two already have a child coming? I've heard the thrill of battle stimulates our reproductive instincts, but this is on another level!" Takeshi then laughed at his own remark before his gaze at Kerry became concerned. "But seriously, though. Like, really seriously. You're going to battle while pregnant? Don't you and Alice think that's... You know, reckless?"

"And yes, I know that you and the taskforce are potentially heading off to battle. I snuck a peek on the invitation on Shizuka." Takeshi casually revealed. "And it looks like Alice wants to go after the Heavenly Strike students with all of you. Hmm, it's about high time that threat gets dealt with. Let me tag along and let my blade be of assistance." The young lord suggested.

Shizuka paid no notice to Takeshi coming up from behind him, nor did pay any mind to his words. Instead, he along with the other present taskforce members, would see Shizuka's face twisted into a truly comedic and dumbfounded expression. His left eye twitched continuously and his mouth hung open as though his jaw went limp.

He finally began to speak after it seemed his brain was finally able to process the information given.

"Your Lordship, I fail to grasp how you can be so calm about this!" He snapped at Takeshi. "Allow me to understand this: In the span of half a day, you and 'Alice' hit it off, develop a romance, make love, AND now you're suddenly pregnant?" He said, turning to Kerry. "They say that love can blossom even on the battlefield, but apparently you decided to take that poverb literally."

Shizuka held a hand to his face, pinching his nose and grunting with ire. "I feel you can attest to being that we're in the middle of a war with death around every corner, it's not the ideal place to nurse a newborn. And you certainly can't be allowed to sortie in that state in good conscience. YES I am aware of the differences of mamono biology and culture but it's the PRINCIPLE of the matter!" His annoyance and shock died down for a moment as he trailed off in his mind. He thought about that time briefly. One could argue that it was different from this current situation: Carroll needed help, and at that moment, Shizuka was the only one would could reasonably provide it.

"I can't imagine why Alice thinks that having a wedding in the middle of a bloody conflict is an acceptable idea, but then again I've never really understood what goes through that girl's head in the first place. But, nevermind that now. Since she apparently has interest in taking on the Heavenly Strike quest, I also agree that should be the main focus. I think I may tag along as well, as I'd like to see the fruits of everyone's training." He began to slump down over by a stone bench on the side of one of the pagodas.

"But, right now, I need some time to rest. I also haven't eaten anything all day..."

The Sisters were also present for the news, and also had invitations materialize above them, catching them and inspecting the contents. Atsuha giggled at Shizuka's reaction while Hinami showed excitement at the prospect.

"WOW~! Kerry-san going to be a mommy? That's wonderful! Congratulations! Have you thought of a name for the baby yet? Oh, oh! Can I name it? Pretty please?~ Hinami said, showing a childish glee at the revelation.

Teehee~ It's nice to see our stone-faced captain is capable of making such cute reactions! Atsuha mused.

"I offer my congratulations to you as well, Kerry-chan." She said to the hornet lancer. I, for one, think it's lovely that you and that Alice-san have allowed love to blossom through these troubled times. Even if I'm alittle jealous that you already have a baby on the way... Ahem!" She shot a look at Skarsneek, but quickly turned back to Kerry.

"You know, dearie, I wouldn't mind being a bridesmaid for the event. Provided Alice-san approves.~"

"What's a brides-maid?" Hinami asked cutely.

"Allow me to understand this: In the span of half a day, you and 'Alice' hit it off, develop a romance, make love, AND now you're suddenly pregnant? They say that love can blossom even on the battlefield, but apparently you decided to take that poverb literally."

Kerry raised a finger to offer a counterpoint....only to slowly lower her hand as she slowly understood how the situation looked from Shizuka's perspective. The hornet had the decency to look somewhat sheepish.

"....You know, when you put it out like that, it seems kinda ridiculous, doesn't it?", she responded with a rocky chuckle.

"I'm rather certain that we're in the middle of a war with death around every corner, not the ideal place to nurse a newborn. And you certainly can't be allowed to sortie in that state in good conscience. YES I am aware of the differences of mamono biology and culture but it's the PRINCIPLE of the matter!"

"Ugh, you starting to sound like Rev. Look, I'll tell you the same thing I told him: Alice and I aren't leaving and that's final. However, if it makes you feel any better, I won't take on quests ALONE. When it gets to that point, I promise to stay in home base and focus on my child's safety. But until that happens, I'm continuing to do my part. Alright?"

Thankfully, Shizuka seemed to have reached the end of venting his shock and disbelief, ending the conversation in favor of eating and resting. Kerry took this as a good sign. His reaction wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be and he wasn't ordering or forcing her off the island.

The Hangai sisters definitely took it as a good sign, too.

"WOW~! Kerry-san going to be a mommy? That's wonderful! Congratulations! Have you thought of a name for the baby yet? Oh, oh! Can I name it? Pretty please?~

Hehe, thanks! Sadly, you're too late for the naming. Her name's Gwendolyn.", Kerry answered the jiangshi with a bright smile.

"I offer my congratulations to you as well, Kerry-chan. I, for one, think it's lovely that you and that Alice-san have allowed love to blossom through these troubled times. You know, dearie, I wouldn't mind being a bridesmaid for the event. Provided Alice-san approves.~"

"Considering how much Alice has taken a liking to Hanami, I believe she'll have no issues with you two being bridesmaids. I was looking for some anyways, so consider yourselves on the list."

POOF

Oh! Speak of the devil.", exclaimed the hornet as letters magically appeared before the taskforce members, Kerry snatching hers and opening it to read its contents. "Damn, Ali, you work fast. Looks like we're getting this Heavenly Strike quest done and over with before we make our big move for Takeshi's old man. I'll join up with her, might as well see how she and Lili are doing. See y'all there."

Kerry then took off and headed in the same direction Alice and Liliana took. It didn't take her long to find the duo....but not before nearly getting bowled over by two women that ran past her. One was Eula and the other was a woman she had never seen before until her antennae twitched as her sixth sense picked up on the magical signature.

Wait, was that Carroll? Holy shit, that's a radical new look. If it wasn't for her aura, I wouldn't have recognized her.

Smirking as the automaton and cursed sword ran off, Kerry turned her attention back toward Liliana and her unconscious lover.

"Let me guess...", the hornet began, asking the fairy. "You two fought it out?"

Skarsneek of the Red Hills

"Go and eat something, we got some time. I'll handle the rest of the preparation." Skarsneek waited for Shizuka outburst to calm down and only then did he spoke his mind. No doubt the leader must be having an headache in strategic terms.

Turning to Kerry who was currently talking to his wife and Hinami, he interjected softly on Shizuka behalf to smooth things out. "He's just worried about the child inside of you, my dad does the same everytime mom gets pregnant. Can't help but worry."

"Sides, you did get yourself a bun in the oven after all in a situation where we need everyone operating at their best. So cut them some slack." He pointed out the obvious gently.

"But Gwendolyn huh? That's a lucky name." Or perhaps he should say unlucky? Skarsneek smiled as he recalled some fond memories of a certain idiotic knight he met a long while ago. Ah, that adventure was a wild ride.

I wonder if he's still honoring that bet. Skarsneek then burst into a chuckle, who was he kidding. That pompous, stick in the mud definitely was tromping around in that ridiculous get up.

But seeing their situation, an idea formed as he scratched his chin. He had a debt owed to him, wasn't it?

Food for thought later. He put it aside when his ears caught and saw Atsuha catching a look, and approached the two from behind.

Putting an arm around their waist as he pulled them closer for a hug with a grin. "A bridesmaid is to usually assist and accompany the bride. Kerry in this case."

"Though in mamono tradition, there's also more involved~!" Skarsneek added with a wink to Hinami and gestured with his thumb between his index and middle finger.

When an invitation come and Kerry making her leave, the goblin waved before smirking towards Atsuha and quietly commented. "If you're jealous, we can always try and beat them in quantity."

"Hey, Hinami, want to help your sister out as well?" He teased his sister-in-law as well, even as his mind was split on the quest that Alice asked them to go on.

The Heavenly Strike was one that seemed far more trouble than it's worth but considering nearly half of the task force is going alongside Kerry. He'll have to join in just in case, let the other do the heavy work while he sit back and close to Kerry.

After all, like he said earlier, he understood how his father felt the most since he was always by their side and what kind of goblin he would be if he disappointed his father?

---

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe

After eating, cleaning and preparing himself, Gringor went back to the pagoda, ready and waiting for the fight to happen. He would've gone straight for it were it not for the fact that he need others.

Smirking darkly to himself, he swore he'll smash each and everyone of the basket 'eads into the ground.

So it was when he came back, he saw Shizuka sitting to the sides tired and exhausted. He also heard the small growl and smell the slight acidic scent that came with hunger.

Without much thought, he pulled a jerky out and offered to Shizuka as he sat next to him.

"Food, eat. Need strength for fight." Gringor tacitly said before gesturing for Shizuka to go ahead and eat it.

"Your Lordship, I fail to grasp how you can be so calm about this!"
Shizuka Kannazuki

Takeshi was actually taken aback from Shizuka's outburst. "I-I thought this was normal behavior for yokai. They are obsessed with sex and pleasure, after all." The young lord scratched the back of his head.

He then watched Shizuka tell off Kerry about the irresponsible pregnancy. Takeshi was surprised that the Hornet yokai answered back, declaring that she would be staying here with Alice even with a child incoming. The young lord was not sure... No, he was sure this was foolish. Raising a child in a warzone was one thing, raising a yokai child in Shizuyama in front of his father? Takeshi could not imagine the wrath that would visit the nascent family.

Still, that was the future... and the future could change. The island was supposed to be doomed, and that did not come to pass.

"But, right now, I need some time to rest. I also haven't eaten anything all day..."
Shizuka Kannazuki

"Food, eat. Need strength for fight."
Gringor

"Ah, well, how about some good old rice and fish then? Sorry there isn't much variety. We don't exactly have access to classier goods and Komatsu Bay had just been liberated so it'll be a while before your Lady Kyouko's supplies get here." Takeshi explained. "But don't you worry! I'll prepare the feast myself and you will all have a taste of the heir's culinary skills."

Despite his confidence, Takeshi's dishes of steamed rice and fried-to-a-crisp fish were nothing out of the ordinary.

Eula and Carroll attempted to dine and dash... but as the defenders of Terauchi Temple, the dishes they ate for the night were free of charge. Which was fortunate for the Automaton.

---THE NEXT DAY---

The taskforce rested until morning, the day they would take on the students of The Heavenly Strike technique. But the sun did not greet them when they woke, instead they opened their eyes to cold winds blowing across the temple. The breezes were not strong but they carried the occasional raindrop. Dark and thick clouds blotted out the sun, preventing the heavenly body from warming the land. At least, the clouds weren't thick enough to completely block sunlight.

Takeshi and Revuel stood next to each other as they observed the bad weather, the latter wearing his full armor to stave off the cold. "This land's weather drives me crazy..."

"Well, the frequent downpours of this island do make the soil fertile." The young lord responded. "We're used to it.

Indeed, the refugees of the Terauchi Temple went about their day normally as if it was any other morning.

"Ugh....It's gonna be one of those days. Great."

The cool weather and the gray skies were not taken as a positive sign as Kerry exited the temple to start her day, though she herself was already in an annoyed mood. The reason being was that something very rare happened while she was asleep:

One of her spears, Dusk, was missing.

When this happened the first time during her first years traveling, she would get panicked and very pissed off that someone had the gall to steal from her, until she remembered that she can just call the spear back by channeling mana to her enchanted bracelets. Nowadays, she just gets irritated by the inconvenience. However, she didn't immediately call the spear back to her because she had hunch...

She knew who took it.

So, after short greeting to Takeshi and Revuel, Kerry made her way out the temple gate and into the nearby forest. With her antennae twitching, the hornet soon caught and followed peculiar trail of magical energy that with deep into the woods until she came upon a clearing. There, in the center, she found the source:

Alice.....with Dusk in her hands, performing.....thrusting techniques?

"Huh?", muttered Kerry, tilting her head in confusion. She had always seen the mad hatter with Carroll as either an axe or a sword, but she had never seen the Queen of Diamonds with a spear. From her footwork to the way she was handling Dusk, Alice was showing proficiency with the weapon. "This is new. Since when did she get good with a spear?"

Leaning up against a tree, Kerry continued to watch Alice train, being more and more impressed by the minute.

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe

He only grunted at Takeshi offer and took it up, the steamed rice and grilled fish was passable. Fish in particular was something new as he had only known the vast steppes and open land. So fish was a luxury to them.

Too much bones in his opinions however as he picked a fish bone between bites.

Still, it seemed that they'll head out tomorrow as everyone decided to lick their wounds. Gringor can only pushed that annoyance away as he finished his meal before turning in for the night.

With night passing and a dreamless moment, Gringor woke up, prepared himself as he washed, maintain his weapon and armor, something he never really knew about but was determined to do.

Idly, he wondered who else knows until one person came to mind. With that, he wore the stolen Varjan armor and headed out into the dark cloudy day.

Tromping around, he found his quarry and greeted the person with a raised weapon before resting the axe against his shoulder.

"Ready for the fight, underboss?" He said to Takeshi before turning to Reveul and pointed to his own armor. "How to maintain armor? Only know leather and bone. Also, how to make more?"

Terauchi Temple

Shizuka gave the Hangai sisters a look as they weighed into Kerry's shocking revelation, but softened as bit as they gave her their blessings and offered support for the wedding. While this makes things more tedious for the Taskforce down the line, it should still nonetheless be celebrated when a new life is born into this world. Gringor would notice Shizuka smiling, staring at the joyful conversation between Kerry, Atsuha, and Hinami.

"Thanks Gringor-san, and you are indeed correct." Shizuka replied, taking the jerky from him, munching on it. It was rough and didn't go down easy, but it tasted good enough. He'd had worse.

He then looked at Takeshi, who offered his cooking to the group, though Shizuka couldn't help but be wary of his boasting.

Well, it wasn't inedible at the very least...

"Oh, fiddle..." Hinami said, pouting like a cute puppy. "But Gwendolyn is a really pretty name!"

"I agree." Atsuha chimed.

Before the sisters could continue the conversation, Kerry jetted off toward where Alice and Liliana went off to. "Aaaand, there she goes. Oh well, hopefully everything will be alright." Atsuha said. She then turned to her husband, staring intently at him as he made his comments toward her and her sister.

"Oh my, Darling!~ There are other people present here, you could stand to be a bit more mindful." She said bashfully, holding a hand to her cheek. "Also, I would prefer it if you didn't put weird ideas in Hinami's head..."

"So does being a 'bridesmaid' mean that we have to wear maid outfits and serve Alice tea and cookies?" Hinami asked cluelessly.

The sister's attention was then averted over to Takeshi, who offered to cook for that Taskforce to aid in recovering their strength for the impending days. Of course, it was just the same ol' fish and rice they'd been eating for weeks, but they weren't sure if Takeshi's skill extended to outside of the battlefield.

Well, at least it wasn't toxic. Hinami had no issues in gobbling down portion after portion, though. Both the sisters thanked the young lord for the meal, though with varying degrees of emotion.

Atsuha would then walked up to her lover, face red as a cherry as she cutely jabbed her index fingers together. "Say, Darling. W-would you like to...fool around tonight? It...has been awhile..."

With the new day on them, the team were still waking themselves up as they were greeting by a chilling wind with cloudy skies. The wind carried little droplets of rain with it, the gloomy air seemed to put everyone in a bad mood. Shizuka didn't seem to mind though.

Kerry would find that Shizuka decided to join her by the tree from where she was watching Alice practice. "Ohayo, Kerry-san." He said with a friendly tone. "Alice is indeed a skilled warrior. It seems she's adept with any weapon that she gets her hands on." He watched her movements, breathing, and thrusting techniques. It was rather effective, further proving Shizuka's statement. He then turned back to Kerry.

"If you didn't mind Kerry, I wanted to talk about last night. I...want to apologize to you." He began. "Suggesting that you leave the island all together wasn't the message I wanted to give off. I know that in spite of everything, you're still a warrior and a mercenary, but above that you are an honorable one. You don't quit until the job is finished. That being said, if you or Alice need anything, I'm here. That includes Gwendolyn as well."

--

Skarsneek would likely awaken to Atusha nestled up to him, still asleep. She quite enjoyed last night, though it was doubtful that the goblin boy would much enjoy the jorōgumo's loud snoring. Not too far from them, Hinami was also still fast asleep. The mission they had embarked on yesterday was quite the ordeal, so it's understandable that they'd still be recovering from it.

"Ready for the fight, underboss? ... How to maintain armor? Only know leather and bone. Also, how to make more?"
Gringor

"You should ask yourself that question, Gringor." Takeshi playfully replied. "It's these guys that made you retreat, right?"

"That Varjan armor you wear and mine aren't exactly the same. Mine is quite more special, you see, forged especially for Order Legionnaires." Revuel clarified to the questions made at him. "Still, maintaining it is the same... in theory. Polish and clean after battle, take it to an armorer to fix any dents or cracks that appear. As for making more, I'm afraid it isn't that easy. Like I said, this Legionnaire armor is special and requires specific materials and particular forges to make. And those specific and particular requirements are located very far from here."

"How special is your armor, Sir Revuel?" Takeshi was curious.

"Well, it is able to withstand blows from a Minotaur's hammer for one, and can shrug off most of your run-of-the-mill spells." The spellcaster answered. "Some armors also help in channeling your magics, making casting spells easier and more efficiently. Like the one issued to me and what I currently wear right now."

After seeing Eula and Carroll return to the temple grounds and looking for breakfast, Takeshi was compelled to speak up. "Hmm, it seems the taskforce is still preparing for our excursion. How about a nice breakfast of fish?" The young lord offered.

"With all due respect, my lord, I believe we have had enough of fish for now. I think a change in cuisine is in order." Revuel immediately interjected. "How about some eggs paired with peppered rice? We have the necessary ingredients although I admit, it's not much of an improvement over fish and rice. It is still a change in dishes, though."

"A fine idea, Sir Revuel. I shall help in the preparation!"

Unfortunately for the young lord and his enthusiasm, the refugees insisted that Takeshi rest while they prepare the simple breakfast feast for the taskforce. The drizzle overhead was increasing as the winds continued to blow.

Skarsneek of the Red Hill

"Well, dear, with how eager Kerry was. I'm sure others wouldn't mind~" He continued to banter with her. Seeing Takeshi and being invited for dinner lightened the mood.

Seeing everyone together calmed him down after the earlier fight. So many ways it could've gone wrong, he idly thought and brushed against the place where he sustained an injury.

I should get more help. Skarsneek finally settled on before being brought to attention by Atsuha coming close to him.

"We can definitely do more than just 'fool around'. " He held Atsuha hands then into his embrace, his shorter height putting his face right into his wife's chest and whispering. "Want to give Kerry kid some playmates?"

"A baker's dozen should suffice!"

A playful statement, but one that Skarsneek didn't walked back down as indeed, Atsuha would've a near sleepless night.

--

Come the next morning, Skarsneek woke up much more refreshed as he walked out to freshen himself in preparations for the day.

Once doing so, he quickly went to grab a piece of discarded paper and piece of charcoal that he grinded into dust before adding with water.

Flicking it, he penned a letter before heading towards the temple and found Ayu.

"Morning Ayu! Beautiful as always! Haha!" Skarsneek spoke out before handing her a letter, addressed to a certain acquaintance that he knew. "We need more back up, and I know a person. Kyoko found me and that meathead orc, so finding this person shouldn't be a problem."

"Just don't tease him too much, or do! I'm sure you'll like this person!"

With that errand done, Skarsneek wandered around before deciding it was best to help prepare breakfast for his wife and sister-in-law. A quick soup and a small amount of rice will do the trick.

Skipping about, he went ahead to make it before meeting with Takeshi, Revuel...and the orc.

"Ah, you."

"Tsk, goblin."

Io

The slowly shifting mist of knowledge swirled around Io as she meditated. It was in disorder. There wasn't supposed to be any movement, or flow to it. It was supposed to be completely static, unchanging, crystalline. Each mote of experience in lockstep, equidistant to the previous and next.

This chaos vexed Io.

It had to end.

Io 'awoke' against the cool earth. 'How long has it been?' She had lost track of time with her meditation. It was perhaps no fabrication to assert that Io had needed time to rest - perhaps not exactly in the same way as a living thing would, but in an approximate fashion.

She rose to her feet. Given the impression she had left on the soft ground, she must have began thinking and became engrossed enough in the task to fall to the ground, where she must have laid for at least a whole night. She dusted herself off with a simple cleaning spell, getting a bearing on her surroundings - and a letter rolled from within her hood.

Nobody had bothered to carry her body anywhere, or perhaps even worse, bury her (as she likely appeared and felt like a corpse as she was lost in thought). Io mused that a letter was a positive outcome as she opened and read it.

'Ah. This...' Io had just sorted her mind out, and yet she had a foreboding sense that she would need another stretch of meditation after this new event was done. She clasped the invitation in her hand as a cool, humid wind blew across her. 'Well. It could have already started, for all I know.' She set out for the temple grounds where the Task Force had met up before setting out previously, hoping to find someone there.

The weather had seemingly no effect on the residents, and they were as busy as ever preparing food - apparently for the Task Force before their mission. She had no appetite for the food - but a surprisingly appealing topic had cropped up on magical armor. Io barged in on the dining area in the most dynamic way a petite mage such as herself could manage.

"Enhancing armor for channeling magic is an extremely interesting topic. Which approach does this armor take? Attuned metal? Inscriptions? Electrum plating? Artificial gates? Mana contacts? It couldn't possibly be micro-leylines?!" That arm of her research was hotly contested... when she was still alive, that is. Just the thought of it had excited Io.

After a moment, Io remembered the initial reason why she had come to the temple. "Ah. And this." Io held the invitation up. "It must have been delivered when I was busy... thinking." She eyed the other task force members that were already present - which happened to be... The majority of the males on the task force. She doubted her entrance would look great to any of them, but the allure of channeling mechanics had proven too irresistible.
