Thinking either Bahamut's "nothingness" domain or Odin's "desolation." I wanna take a superpower culturally perceived as belonging to "good guys" (in my case, healing magic) and have it operate in a mechanically brutal way with a great capacity for cruelty. (I'm basically envisioning a form of time magic, where the subject's physiological and temporal processes can be accelerated or otherwise fucked with so that they are reverted to an unharmed state..... either before they ever got injured at all or long after they've already healed, all in the blink of an eye. Kind of a darker, grittier Crazy Diamond.) Of course, this being basically some kind of "entropy power," she could also rust locked doors off their hinges, hide bodies by withering them to dust (ie. supernaturally advancing their decomposition), etc.

Dunno how "fair" or balanced the powers are gonna have to be in this game so I'm just throwing the concept out there for your quick approval before sinking real time into this ✌️

Either way, very, very cool thread, to which I wish only the best!

I'm not a GM, but that doesn't seem too crazy. It's technically a time-based mechanic, but it's essentially healing or decay, depending on the situation, right? Orihime's healing from Bleach functioned like that if I remember correctly. But of course, you'll defer to the GM, lol. And as with any power, it's all about balance and never abusing a power in a way that breaks the narrative or takes away another player's agency without permission. That's always my philosophy when it comes to powers at least *insert shrug*

@Aeolian Figured fellow Regaliae could have some kind of resistance to certain (or maybe all?) Regalia powers cast on them, resulting in either outright immunity, or maybe the aging effect being temporary at worst and basically treated like a debuff, yeahhh

I think I will go with Valefor, though I cannot view his pic/info on the OOC for some reason.

Can Regalia use Crystals for magic?

@TokyoPewPew

Yeah, I don't know if that's the case because I think there will be instances of Regalias fighting each other in the story, I reckon. I doubt there would be outright immunity. But, only Mirandae can answer that definitively. It's an interesting thought though.

@Theyra Yeah, I think the link is corrupted. I can't see it either.

@Mirandae Hi, I still exist! I'd like to reserve Ramuh for my Dominant of choice, but I do have a question: In his description its stated his Regalia appears as a man when transformed, could they appear female instead while keeping the rest of the aesthetics the same?

I should've mentioned this I think: the apparent gender of the Dominant doesn't have to match the character. Ramuh is depicted as male in teh Final Fantasy games, but if it's an aesthetic request, I could see to doing a female version, no problem :)

Sounds cool! As for fair: I'll post the combat details later, after we've started the in-character. Combat will be split into a "narrative" part and the "fair" part. What you describe can certainly fit both parts if it's a type of healing that reverses the state of something. It does fall into the category of being "cruel" if it also hurts for the person, which is natural, right? Healing is kind of painful.

Regalia are not immune to Dominant effects from others unless there is some magic that makes them immune to a specific thing. There will be some of that in the "fair" game.

I updated the graphic yesterday (for me yesterday), but I reuploaded it now. Refresh and see if you can see it.

Hm, interesting question. I suppose they technically could, even if they don't need to. Perhaps there would be some kind of conflict with their Dominant if the Crystal is based on a rival Dominant. I'll have to ponder this.

I only ask because a Bahamut Regalia might not want to turn into a 85 foot dragon. In scenarios like fighting in an office building it might get cramped to get so big, for example.

LOL Well, your Regalia can use their magic in their human form without turning into Bahamut. LOL I reckon transforming into their Dominant form is more for big battles and confrontations.

Indeed what Aeolian said: your character can use magic native to their Dominant without Crystals. But, yes, the size of the Dominants do offer some interesting narrative situations.

I've started working on a CS as well!

I've settled on a name for now, Akamu, and I'm going to have him hail from one of the smaller islands in Accadia. If it's relevant for other folk, I'm aiming to portray the islands of Accadia(or at least the smaller ones) similar to Hawaii, with a lot of relaxed ocean life vibes- and a dash of overbearing corporate tourism

@Mirandae I've been eyeing Valefor, if there are no other takers yet. My question would be how its powers can be expressed without essentially going all the way to what appears to be a nuclear strike?

My character concept for it would be some rich person who likes antiques a little too much and inadvertently buys remnants of Valefor's temple artifacts... or something along those lines. Lmk if that's in line with the vibe!

Oops, just saw now that @Theyra called dibs. May I know who how many Dominants are left / what you would like to know if a player wants to propose a Dominant?

An aside - I realized why the vibe was somewhat familiar. I applied to Bleak Centauri years ago (made a character for Quetzlcoatl), which turns out to be yours as well.

Awesome! I was thinking of having Accadia for my character as well, and I had the same idea as you! I'm thinking the southern parts could be like you said - Hawaii, or maybe something like French Polynesia, Bahamas. And then, maybe the norther parts are a bit cooler in temperature, but still warm. And yes, a big source of income for the country would be tourism, party islands stuff.

Yess, this is evolved Bleak, indeed.

All Regalia can use 'regular' magic associated with the Dominant's element, even in their human form. The 'ability' listed on the Dominant banners is really only for narrative purposes, cool scenes, and such.

The character concept is fine. There's really no "dibs", but if you really feel strongly about Valefor, I can make a new one that is similar. As for what's left: I don't think anyone has specifically called mentioned Shiva, Leviathan, Garuda, and some others. But, then again, I don't know what everyone is going for. I made a separate one for myself so I wouldn't hog any of the choices.

What do you mean that you don't want Godzilla mauling the entire office space?!

Idk. I'm not a Dominant expert, but that seems...ummm...highly unproductive for the workspace and goes against Company policy. lol

All right, shifting my focus onto Leviathan. My character concept would be someone working in "sanitation" read: some kind of mob undertaker who leaves people to sleep with the fishes.

Is that still in line with the RP vibe? Just want to make sure before I proceed.

What the characters do for a living is up to you, but it also depends a bit on who their Dominant is. Leviathan is one of the bigger one with a massive following, so with that comes a certain amount of fame whether the Regalia wants it or not. HOWEVER, I do love some contrast and struggles that arise from "imposed fame". I have something like that going on for my own character. So, working man in "sanitation", dumping bodies -- sure, but keep the size of Leviathan's cult in mind for the details.

Love that! Yeah islander vibes are definitely what I was hoping for, and Southern Accadia being some mix of Polynesian/Bahaman/Hawaiian sounds awesome!

Also. As I'm writing his story, he is now also an Accadian Firefighter- as his day job anyway. I figure he's too chilled out to be a soldier, so if the Accadian government wants to put him to use, a public servant might fare better. Also, imagine the recruitment posters. And the calenders. Sold out, all of them.
