I'm guessing there's some kind of cost system, where each card is allotted a point value based on how powerful it is, and then each of us can have X points active at a time? Or maybe we have mana pools?

Anyway, in the Discord you said "Dominant-specific abilities" and I was sold lol I am overflowing with ideas for based Odinism


Yes, somewhere in that realm! So, you have 15 'points' of this value in a combat post, which resets with each combat post. And you can see the 'cost' of in a number by the description box of said card. So, from the example cards, the "Orb" elemental magic/card costs 3 points. We might have to adjust the 'points' in combat posts as we progress, if it becomes too easy or tedious.

Yess, Dominant-specific and Character-specific are a go. So, collect your ideas and send them my way :) I'm expanding the 'general' cards as well, but we have some time before any actual combat happens, so there's no rush.

Never had a chance to respond to the combat stuff, but it looks really cool. Never really done anything like it, so can't provide any valuable feedback, but at the very least I'm excited to see how it goes. Love the effort put into the design too.

And a question for everyone: are you okay with 'character stats' in the combat system? I wasn't planning on doing that to keep it simple, but I've done it before for sure. If you're okay with it, then I have no issues with including it again in this game.

Thanks for the updates, Mirandae. I will go along with the group's consensus, but personally, stats don't seem necessary for this narrative-driven story. I think the cards more than suffice to add a little spice to important combat sequences as they arise.

I think it might be time for me to say something about activity/consistency: I don't want to have to remind people to post in a game that I run. It only shows that the person isn't interested enough, so there's no point in participating. It also makes it seem like I'm forcing someone to do this, which isn't the case as you are here of your on volition.

If the game is no longer interesting to you, then just tell me. I respect that a lot more than half-assing everything, making others wait. This leads us to the posting schedule. The 10-day limit is there to allow other things in life to disrupt you. It's not there to stroke laziness and everyone posting at the last minute.

I don't like to type this kind of stuff up as rules beforehand because it's just common courtesy, adult responsibility, or just friendly consideration -- call it whatever you want. This is especially true if others are waiting for your posts in order to continue. This is a very team oriented hobby, so selfishness and lone-wolf stuff doesn't really work.

Hi, posting here as well to apologize for the quiet and for holding up the thread. As I've messaged our kind GM @Mirandae, I was swamped with RL demands, and sadly, I only have enough time and mental energy to go around. The whole RP is very interesting, and at no point have I lost interest (just mentioning to bolster the fact that it's a pretty solid premise, with great aesthetics and vibes and the other players are all great, too).

I'll be taking my leave, but I wish everyone all the best!

Indeed. But, it's similar to the 'health' bar. NPCs will vary a lot, of course, but all the player characters have the same amount. I'm planning to add more core cards that manipulate this, just like there are 2 cards for 'critical hit/damage'. But, your specific character/Dominant cards can also be 'buffs', if you want them to.

However, the actions of Odin’s Regalia on the shore seemed to disrupt its psychic connection to the swarm, at least momentarily. The beast immediately focused its attention on Yrkhalabeth, letting out a grotesque, deafening wail as it rapidly waded through the remaining shallow waters to attack.

The beast lunged at Odin. The decisive movement violently parted the waters by the creature’s feet, forcing the displacement to strike against the docks of the harbor. It swiped with its massive claws at Odin’s enveloping shadows, testing this new enemy’s capabilities. Waves of ripper swarms accompanied the beast and converged on Odin’s location.
