Syraeia Leela “Sy-a” Inn Keeper

Dawn Haven _ “Bath House”

Snuggle Snakey times! With thr Blightborn Simmmer society's Soak

Now with 50% more blood alcohol content.
Sloshed snakes can slither too

Sya was busy inspecting her buttons and adjusting her dress as she was preoccupied to notice Orion approach as she sang a soft tune in a borderland language, harsher and more like Ivor than she was her Auralian side, who most influenced her particular homeland. “Drømde mik en drøm i nat um
silki ok ærlik pæl”
She sang and Moved to the gentle sway of the rhythm of the song, lost In her own world for a time in a way only Sya broke…yet functional self could hop between things without even a single pause and swap back again. Ivor was probably one of the only ones who onew the language fully, she spoke a dialect that suppressed the thought that she was one of rare few left alive who knew that language now since the blight came and took the borders region under its grip.

Sya turned as she looked up with a large blue eye rested lower and blinked processing the moment before she was able to react fully, Sya knew work needed her but also a desire to head to snug and write in her journal about the day, to process her emotions about the day she did not understand fully that floated about her brain.

“Asssist… I'm … kinda drunk” She admitted and swayed more than normal as she tried to rise to her more normal height and lowered again, Sya was not sure how much wine she drank…but too much… yes. She Had Got Drunk in a Temple Hot spring crying her eye out and made two friends…. Kira was a good start at least. Maybe the goddess has helped her out, who knows…. Times were crazy, Sya had made a connection and would not give up on that.

“Yes, I called you a good egg.”Sya Said that like the statement was entirely normal and definitive, she had named him a good Egg, so she did not mind his company. “So you are, you may essscort me to the post Office and back to the Eye, i need to send Erissss a letter. Hopefully explain.. well me. I have the first Dawn Haven Business account! And 2 others.” Said with a serious noble Voice she managed failing harder than Ayel made friends with the local towns folk. She looped her much smaller arm around his and pulled herself up less steadily and used his balance to help her own. Sya despite her more reptilian lower body was still rather light and the smaller blight born woman found his muscle comforting. Her evident pride she had the first 01 Dawn Haven post office business account, the Eye had claimed it and it was hers. She was on the first page of the ledger.

“My tail can get hurt, so please be careful. i may have tripped over becky too.” She said as Sya moved off shakily leaving 8 to 10 or so feet S shapes in the mushy snow behind her, a genuine plea as she was unused to walking with someone like this in her changed form. truth Be told, she kinda liked it… Though unlike another village if she cuddled curled on his lap and went for a nap she would not find arms round her playing with her hair and making calming circles she enjoyed. They had made that a habit, it helped Sya sleep peacefully and she always felt safe in his arms, as they grew older their families just went along with what made them happy and they had been close long as anyone remembered.

It had been a slightly cool day. They sat in the grass wrapped in blankets, Sya half asleep. They had agreed to take over a small cottage near the stables, it was in need of repair but the old man had died and left it in disrepair and had been cleaning it out. She made soft sounds as she rested, they had named it “Farriers anvil” representing both of the families they came from and the trade they knew.

An old board lay in front of them, a rough sketch of a sigil they would make for the door, a combination to represent them and the home it would be mounted on. Her dad has already agreed to make it from some old iron that got rejected from a shipment for the castle.

Sya head turned lost in a old memory with a small tear running off her eye before she turned back to Orion, failing to hide the action. “Old memory, I did not have much but it wasss… enough to make me happy. Will we be happy again?“ Sya said with a concentration to hold her hiss on letter S in check. She mused in only a way that alcohol could cause,

“Let's go, Orion, il get you back to Prince before its your bedtime and return the Snakeness to her tower lair.” Sya said with a small giggle and mental shift as she moved with a slower pace and glided along almost silently with but a quiet swish and movement of snow audible at all.

For someone who had such changes Sya was managing, Her mind was far from healthy so it kind of worked.. her broken self was able to survive in ways her “fixed” self would have had a complete and utter breakdown. Sya tightened her grip a little as she held head up high, unwilling to let people have one more thing to use against her. She still swayed a little more than was safe but was using Orion to balance herself as her scales brushed against his leg when she slipped a little.

Interacting with: Lord Coswain @PrinceAlexus and Aliseth @Dark Light

Katherine let out a sigh as Ayel ran off back towards town, undoubtedly with the goal of stirring up as much drama as possible. There was no telling what kind of story he would weave to the guards and Prince.

She considered both Lord Coswain’s orders as well as Aliseth’s input. The latter statement made a good point; The scene should remain secure, especially with the likes of Ayel and the accusations that would follow. She also knew that the priority was clearly finding the Lunarian princess and that the royal guard was dedicated to protecting her and Flynn. That left just herself and the very much out-of-commission Persephone a short distance away to protect the scene.

Katherine took a deep breath and gave herself a self-assuring nod. Well this is clearly becoming my responsibility to handle.

The priestess looked between Aliseth and Adonis before speaking in a hushed tone once she was sure Ayel was out of earshot.

“I will remain here and protect this scene until that noble inevitably returns with guards. I don’t think moving the body is wise quite yet, not until more eyes are laid on it. Though I have faith that it will all be sorted in the end, the guard will undoubtedly be suspicious of us given how the Marquess reacted.”

Besides, it wouldn’t be first time I’ve been imprisoned for something I didn’t do. She sighed quietly at the thought. That, and I might be able to get some insight as to what happened here if these two are gone.

“I trust that you both will have my back if the guards decide to arrest me, even if temporary? The Marquess will surely insist on it, given the accusations he threw at us.”

Katherine’s gaze returned to the gory display before them. Her mind pondered on how to best protect such a scene from disturbance and prying eyes. There was no structure to block lines of sight, nor doors to seal off with magical wards. Two ideas came to mind, the first of which was very much a risky and reactive approach. It would involve using psychic magic to influence any who came near and very much depended on how well they were trained to resist such tactics. The second would involve conjuring a shield of pure shadow so that none could see what lay inside.

It would definitely still attract attention, but it would be the safest bet until support arrived.

“I’m capable of holding my own in a fight before either of you get concerned about that.” She tapped the short-sword on her hip that had been hidden beneath her cloak up until now.

Valthyr Naffron

Location: Streets of Dawnhaven, on the way to the crime scene.
Interacting with Daphne @PrinceAlexus, Flynn @The Muse, Ayel @Dezuel, Nathaniel @Echotech71

That had been easy, almost surprisingly so. He had managed to get Daphne to follow him and could now serve as a first-hand witness which would hopefully get him out of the collective of suspects. The quick arrival of more and more people baffled him a bit though and the druid started a slight feel of unease rise inside him: Providing an explanation to just one person until said person was convinced about him saying the truth would probably have been a lot easier than convincing half a dozen of people who all could disrupt and ask all the more questions.

As some talk was going on, the druid took the time to inspect the newcomers (from his perspective) a little closer.

The first one, a man almost as tall as him and dressed in rather expensive looking clothes did not get his name mentioned by anyone else, but Valthyr picked up the words 'your highness'. So the prince ? Maybe he should have done a bit more thorough research about Dawnhaven, then he would have been able to actually know the man's name without somebody saying it. On the plus side, now he knew that it would be better to follow the orders which, luckily, were quite congruent with what he had planned on doing anyway.

The second one made himself noticeable via Valthyr's nostrils almost as quick as visually. Just what was that smell ? Having quickly ruled out poop, pee and sweat all the same, the druid reached the conclusion that it has to be something Ayel must have put on his body very much on purpose. Valthyr had to sneeze and that was not because he was still trodding through snow on bare feet, but because of whatever kind of vile concoction slowly but surely separated from the noble's face. Valthyr felt allergic to that! And just about the time he had put the stamp of probably being all the bad prejudices about nobles of his druid community combined onto Ayel, the latter rendered this judgement obsolete:

"Your highness, this would go much faster if you allow me to use this one as a mount."

Just what had this madman blurted out of his fancy mouth ? Valthyr's inner logic responsible for escalation prevention disengaged more quickly than he could even realize: "This one, as you call it, is a woman whose name is Daphne and who is friendly enough to help me. Please pay some respect. Otherwise... wouldn't it be more appropriate if you 'ride' on me ? Just as a suggestion, of course."

Valthyr hoped that this noble would just say yes -- if not for realizing how unreasonable the words spoken had been then at least because saying yes could serve as another provocation in the man's wicked set of coordinates. Trying not to endulge himself in his imaginations of Ayel trying to climb onto the shoulders of his entire 6'8 too much, Valthyr quickly addressed all of them with a gentle nod, including Nathaniel who joined in a tiny bit later.

So many unknown people who in turn seemed to know each other already... Not exactly the easiest situation!

"So I have observed most of the event, but unfortunately couldn't do much to prevent it." He left the cat out this time or the others might have declared him crazy. "Two women were in company of another person who later on turned out to be what I can only guess was a blightborn. Some more people, guards or the like I imagine, accompanied them. I was unable to pick up all the words exchanged, but suddenly the blightborn individual, he... attacked one of the guards and consumed his face, or parts of his entire head. The women escaped and the blightborn made a run for it in a different direction, very fast."

Location: Elara's Home
Kira moved silently away from the temple, her orange gaze fixed on Flynn’s back as she trailed him from a healthy distance. His quick pace suggested urgency and she wondered if he was aware of whatever it was that she had caught wind of, but he seemed lost in his own thoughts, oblivious to the world around him. Foolish.

As the town square came into view, she broke off from the path, sticking close to the shadows of the buildings instead. In the midst of a crowd was the last place she wanted to be, especially right now. Before she could leave, a sharp, shrieking voice pierced through the air. She winced at the sound, her eyes quickly finding that miserable nobleman again. She narrowed her eyes for a moment, watching as he struggled to pull a torch down. She moved her attention to Flynn briefly, noting the Prince’s own narrowed eyes honing in on the man. ‘Good’ she thought, ‘He can take care of that disaster.’

At the moment, she was far more likely to make a meal of the man than tolerate his presence. Without Orion, there was little that stood in her way.

Refocusing on the metallic scent, Kira continued westward, pulled away from the crowded center and toward the quieter western outskirts. Several minutes later, she found herself stepping off the beaten path, her boots sinking into nearly three feet of untouched snow as she moved into the forest that lay between a residential area and the Seluna temple.

Hearing the faint sound of voices calling to one another, Kira slowed her pace until she had them in view. She paused, crouching near a tree in the thickest part of the woods. Her glowing eyes cut through the darkness, betraying her location, though the group before her seemed to have other priorities.

She blinked as she took in the scene. An area where snow had been entirely cleared from the ground, and in the center of it, massive and unnatural ice stalagmites jutted upward from the ground. Blood splattered across its crystalline surface. At its base, the source of what she had been tracking—the body of a headless guard, his lifeblood staining the frozen ground.

Kira’s fangs ached, her body humming with the primal need to feed. Her tongue brushed her lower lip as she fought to suppress the feral hunger clawing within. But her gaze flicked to the figures nearby: two guards, one covered in blood splatter, and a Seluna Priestess kneeling beside the body. Feeding now would be reckless—dangerous.

She closed her eyes briefly, forcing herself to focus. Logic had to win out over this damned instinct. Slowly, she took a deep breath, tuning into the blood smells swirling through the area. Several scents intermingled, but one stood out, faint yet distinct—a trail leading north. Hearing the group's discussion, her eyes snapped open again.

The Princess was missing?

Her gaze moved to the bloodied guard. ‘What happened here?’ she wondered, though by the look on the other two people's faces, they didn’t seem to know either. Her gaze shifted north, pondering who or what it was that fled this gruesome scene into the residential area.

Deciding to let the guards and Priestess deal with their crime scene, Kira turned and began to follow the secondary blood trail. Her insides screamed at her to turn around—slit all their throats and feast instead—but she willed herself to move on. Shattering her final chance at grasping some semblance of a “normal” life would be devastating.

Eventually, the trail led her to a home she didn’t recognize, but it caused her to stop dead in her tracks, about twenty feet away from the front door. The hunger surged, sharper this time, causing her breath to catch in her throat. Another scent mingled with the first one now, one she couldn't ignore, rushing over her senses like a tidal wave.

Elara.

Kira’s lips pressed into a thin line, her heart beginning to race as she recognized the distinct, maddening smell of the handmaiden’s blood. Not fresh—still coursing beneath her skin—but unmistakable to Kira. For two long months she had gone out of her way to avoid Elara, knowing full well the struggle it brought. Whatever ran in her veins was like a siren's song, igniting the beast within like nothing else. It clawed to get closer every time she was near.

“Fuck,” Kira muttered under her breath, her fiery gaze fixated on the door ahead.

Her thoughts raced, connecting the dots. Elara could usually be found near the Princess. Was it the Princesses blood trail that led her here? Why were they here if the Princess was wounded? Or was it someone else Elara was harboring? Hopefully, not the culprit who had caused that guard to lose his head.

Kira flexed her fists, jaw clenching as she tried to steady herself. She needed to confirm if the Princess was here, if she was hurt—or if Elara needed help. The least she could do would be to return Elara’s kindness… She forced a slow, deep breath, willing herself to suppress the hunger clawing at her insides.

‘You can control this. You have to.’

Steeling herself, she approached the door, her heart pounding in her chest. For the first time in what felt like years, an unfamiliar sensation of nervousness pulled at her. She hesitated—not because of danger, but because of her own volatile nature. There were few people in the world that Kira cared to protect. Elara was one of them. Possibly the only one.

Slowly, she raised her hand and knocked, the sound sharp in the quiet. As she waited, muscles tense, she braced herself, silently telling herself she could handle this.

Location: The Sun Temple

Tia peered around Gadez’s form at the sound of Dyna’s voice, her blunt tone distinguishing her from her sister. Where was Ranni? Was she alright? Had Dyna seen that awful vision, too? With the narrow hallway so crowded, Tia couldn’t see into the temple’s body.

She paused though, when she heard the soft tone of Gadez’s voice. Her eyes flicked back up to him. He had turned his head to look over his shoulder at Dyna, addressing her with a voice that was… almost subdued. Tia blinked up at him. Gadez was a man who usually seemed to thrum with latent energy, eager to spring to life and patient enough to capture the perfect moment. He was many things — brazen, mischievous, oddly considerate… but Tia had never before seen him so muffled. He turned back to face her, and Tia’s lips parted when she saw something completely foreign in his pale eyes:

Hesitation.

It was a flicker. Then it was gone, so quickly it might’ve just been the reflection of Tia’s own nerves staring back at her. He stepped closer, with a murmuring voice and a proffered… soup container?

Tia couldn’t help herself. Her lips quirked into a bemused smile as she looked at it. Something softened in her, the tensions of the day growing hazy.

Oddly considerate, indeed.

She met his gaze again. She couldn’t thank him with the state of her voice, but she gave a warm smile. It faltered when he sought entrance to her room. This was the second man in less than an hour. The nuns she grew up with would’ve been positively scandalized. The Prince requesting privacy to talk with her (to interrogate her, she corrected with no small amount of shame) was one thing. But Gadez… Well, it wasn’t as if he’d never been in her room. And if he intended to be ungentlemanly, he’d already had plenty of opportunity when they’d been snowed in for a week. And… he’d brought her soup.

But he spoke of answers. Of Aelios. Answers to what? She searched his eyes as her mind spun.

Did… did he somehow know about her visions?

Her heartbeat seemed louder in her ears. Tia hesitated for another moment. Then she stepped to the side, her arm raised slightly to invite him in. There wasn’t much room to move in the hallway — Tia pressed herself against the wall to try and give him room as his larger frame crossed the threshold of her room.

She didn’t follow him in, though. Tia met Dyna’s eye, finally unobstructed. She turned back to Gadez, holding up a hand to signal him to wait. Then she moved to her sister. Curling a hand around one of Dyna’s, Tia looked around her shoulder to try and spot Ranni. More voices echoed through the air, weaving through the crackle of Aelios’ flame. There was Ranni’s, and the other… Tia realized with a start that she recognized that voice, too.

Dr. Céline stood with Ranni, along with an absolute mountain of a man. Tia took a moment to observe them. Despite the vision she’d had, Ranni didn’t seem distressed. But Tia knew that didn’t mean much — as priestesses they’d been trained to mask their own troubles when performing their duties. Tia had just never been very good at it. That Dr. Céline was speaking with her though…

She’d been Tia’s other guest during the storm. She was kind and intelligent, but there had been a few near-misses with her empathic abilities. If Ranni was really experiencing something, the doctor probably wouldn’t have been upright. Had the vision not been from Ranni? Tia’s eyebrows drew together as she watched them.

Finally deciding that at least Ranni wasn’t in any immediate danger, Tia looked back to Dyna.

Fierce, stalwart Dyna. Ever the protector, making herself responsible for their safety. Tia knew it was ingrained in her — the vigilance, the need to protect the few people she still had. Tia couldn’t imagine what it’d been like to witness her twin go into the blight — to not have gone with her. Her heart clenched as she looked up at the Champion. Dyna was taller than her. Stronger. Technically in charge of her safety. But Tia was still older. It was still her responsibility to care for the twins.

Tia’s hand tightened around hers. With her other hand, she reached up to briefly touch Dyna’s cheek and give her a smile that she hoped was comforting. Tia glanced back over her shoulder to see Gadez in the flickering firelight of her room. She turned to look at Ranni, the picture of calm as she spoke with Dr. Céline and her companion.

Looking back up at Dyna, she slowly mouthed the words, ‘Stay with Ranni.’

Tia wasn’t in any danger with Gadez. But if that vision had come from Ranni, Tia didn’t want her alone. She didn’t want her to feel alone.

‘Be out soon.’

Tia wasn’t certain that was a promise she could keep. Gadez was unpredictable at the best of times. But something about his soft voice, his hesitation… Tia felt on the precipice of something. Whatever it was he had to discuss with her, something told her it wouldn’t be a quick conversation. But she tried to give Dyna a reassuring smile, and another quick squeeze of her hand.

Then she stepped away and walked back into her room. Tia pulled the door shut behind her, leaving it ajar. Perhaps those old nuns had left an impression on her, after all. Hands clasped behind her back, Tia looked back to Gadez. The fire warmed the room, stray embers glowing like fireflies.

Gadez patiently waited in Tia's room after giving her a soft smile and nod with his head, having put the hot soup bowl with the lid and spoon on the small dresser by her bed.

He had not taken in her room as much before, his eyes wandered over her furniture. His blue eyes looking them over, settling on her table and the drawer on it. He had to admit, he was curious if Tia wrote in a journal. But his curiousity was overpowered by his sense of respecting other people's minds. A journal was akin to ones mind, a place where thoughts were recorded and stored. He wouldn't. He could invade that. He withdrew his hand and then walked to the middle of the room as Tia entered.

"Thank you for finding the time Tia. Come sit at the bed and have some soup." The blonde man said softly as he walked over and softly patted her on the shoulder. His eyes then set on the door, moving over to make sure it would be closed fully.

"I have some things I wish to tell you. I hope you don't mind the privacy. It is for the safety of all. These words may be unsettling for mortal ears. But first you've got to eat some of that soup." He lifted the plated lid off the bowl and then put the spoon in it, picking up some meat and vegetable on it, before blowing some air to cool it, his free hand held under it to not spill anything on the floor, as he moved it towards her lips. Helping her with the first mouthful.

"You've gotta eat and remain strong. You'll sing again someday. Don't you worry." The monk said in a reassuring tone, his face was calm but he knew, that if he didn't seize the opportunity now, it would be lost forever. He had to tell her.

"Tia. I demand no answers from you, I only request them. What I am about to say may not be what you want to hear, but I have to say it nontheless. It is even difficult to know where to start with it all. Our world has changed much, the skies have darkened and the blightborn has appeared. Yet even now there's hope." He smiled softly and allowed Tia to take over the spoon.

"When we first met, I was suprised. Not just by your beauty, lack of weight and perserverence, but by your scar. When I first saw it, I thought you were one of the blightborn, that you had been wounded and turned. But I realized quickly that wasn't the case. For what blightborn would fall prey to the cold? Yet such a wound at such a place, it left me to ponder. Why is it there? You are a priestess and no doubt would have been able to close such a wound smoothly, if not at the moment, then by the temple or by those with greater mastery over the healing arts. Yet the mark remains and it's effect upon you is profound as it has robbed you of your voice. To be able to voice your opinion, to accept and reject is an important thing. Such an injury aswell, the odds of surviving it are so vastly low, that it made me... someone whose always pondered if the goddesses were truly there or not. Doubt myself." He said in a soft voice, but he also laughed abit at that.

"Why would the clergy choose to send you of all people to Dawnhaven? You who has been unjustly scarred, who may not hold sermons, neither are you a warrior of the clergy. You were sent here by them, because you possess something else which sets you apart from all others. A power which none can see. And If I were to guess, you were sent far away because there's something within Aurelia that the High priest of Aelios fears. Something kept in the dark." Gadez began to wander in the room, his hands behind his back. His blonde hair hanging slightly over his face.

"I also have pondered a long time, what caused the blight? What caused the skies to turn dark? I thought it as a natural phenomena at some point, then later that it was magical. Yet what mortals would have the power to darken the very sun and give rise to the blight? No mortal possess that kind of power. That power. The blight. Is divine in origin. That is the only explanation which make any sense. How long would a battle go on until a victor would be crowned? One of the two divine stars fell. Her physical form withering upon the earth, yet her soul eternal. If we may call it such. Hurled itself out unto a new host. A mortal. Inflicting a brand upon her." He turned to face Tia, his expression displaying a sense of loss and grimness.

"You are the voice of Aelios. Her physical vessel. The one foretelling of the prophecy… aren't you? And the old decaying physical form of Aelios that lies in the dark... is the cause of the blight. Her divine essence flowing out, like ripples upon a lake. For the divine are neither fully living nor dead. The blightborn are the same in a way. But even then. They did not choose their path, it was pushed upon them. By beings who thought they knew better. Just like you've been pushed by others... but what is it that you truly want for yourself?" He closed his eyes momentarily, he moved over to the fireplace and rested his hands above it, leaning against the wall.

"The divine could never see past their conflict with oneanother. As our world has gotten dark. Dawnhaven is all the proof needed to show that we humans. Have eclipsed the gods. Aurelian. Lunarian. Blightborn. We all gather here together. It is the faulty of the divine, that has shown us what we must be, what we have to be. To finally bring the endless conflict to it's epitaph. The goddesses may claim the stars, but we claim the earth, the forests, the seas, the sky... and the future." The vexing gardener stated and looked to the ceiling.

"The blizzard that struck Dawnhaven, why do you think it came when it did? Who was the most likely to fall to it? Only one person was far out into the snow beyond aid. You. Seluna was trying to end you, or should I say end Aelios. No doubt she has a particular set of words for me as well, for my timely meddling. But in a way… I am a fallen star myself. Albeit of far dimmer light." He now began to smile, a big upturn at the corner of his mouth as he pulled his blonde hair back abit with his hands, the light of the fire reflecting in his eyes.

"Because King Auric of Aurelia... is none other than my father. I am the older half-brother of Prince Flynn. My true name is Halcyon Astaros. As I wandered through the Gaddess' Paradise, with no past to return to, no future left to claim, my name were underneath it all still starry and golden. A child born of twain kingdoms, perhaps I am he? Or perhaps I am the one prophesized to die in Flynn's stead? Perhaps by your hand? Either way…" He said softly as he looked to Tia warmly.

"I may be the greatest enemy to the goddesses, to both kingdoms, but not to you, Tia. Were I to have known you were who you are, I would still have braved that blizzard. For to leave you, someone betrayed by the world, would have been akin to die a thousandfold. It is however you who has to make a choice, as cruel as it is. I wouldn't rob you of your free will. I am not Auric. Nor divine. I pray that Flynn will not follow in his creator's trail. For there will be a search for a cure to the blight in time no doubt, and this search must not prevail. For if it does…" He sighed deeply and slumped his head slightly.

"Then it will lead to the death of everyone in the world. The kingdoms would set upon the blightborn. Kira. Leela. The blonde girl outside with the horns and tail. All of them would be hunted down and destroyed. Then the kingdoms would set upon each other, and there would be no end to the fighting. However… if the blight were to persist. And Dawnhaven were to grow and flourish. It would become a third kingdom and eclipse the former two and this world would finally become one. The blight isn't a divider, it is a unifier. Look around you, Tia. The choice before you may be a cruel one, having to choose between your faith and your friends. Whenever in doubt. Heed your heart." He gave another soft smile and walked closer to Tia, trying to keep eye-contact and show that he mean her nothing ill.

"Knowing now whom we are. What will you do? My suggestion would be to eat the soup before it grows cold." He smiled softly, his eyes looking warmly at Tia. "I know this is a lot to take in all at once and you must be weary. My presence here in Dawnhaven is a risk for it aswell, yet there's no other place for me to go. For only with Dawnhaven's victory, can my true wish to strike down King Auric become a reality. For all those whose dreams and futures he has destroyed." He said and sighed softly, pulling his hair back with one hand and placing his other hand by his waist.

"When the time comes, and they set out to find a cure. Can I rely on you to aid me to stop them? Well… I won't demand an answer or that you do, for I know this would be among the hardest of choices you would have to make, Tia. All I can do is to try and protect you from those who seek to harm you. Rest assured your secrets will live and die with me." He placed his hand on his chest, and gave a deep bow to her. His blue eyes looking at her. He wasn't certain if she had taken his words to heart, but he had to tell her either way.

The goddesses were his enemies. There was no doubt in his mind about that. He had doubted their existance, yet now… all things were pointing that they were indeed very real. He would have to fight not only against the gods but against two kingdoms. For that he needed an army. He would have to move swiftly and find blightborn to ally with, for it were in their interest to have the blight persist for certain. Even they wanted to live if they could. For as much as a life that would be. Who were they to simply deny them their existance after being forced into a path they've not chosen. What some blightborn did however after their turning, with some turning to wicked things. They would be dealt with as any other human. Dawnhaven must remain free of discord. United and strong. Strong enough to crush the two kingdoms and become the lone victor.

Sya’s confession about being tipsy came out with such genuine honesty that it caught Orion off guard, and he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at her bold declaration. Still, as Sya looped her smaller arm through his, he shifted his weight just a tad, making sure he was solid enough to support her without either of them toppling over.

“I’ll be careful,” the blightborn man reassured his companion, his voice taking on a gentler note. As the corners of his lips threatened to betray him with a smirk, he added, “Though I believe your dear Becky has likely granted you her forgiveness long ago for your little escapade. If not, well, perhaps she is simply biding her time.” There was a warmth in his gaze as he watched her, hoping to see a bit of laughter in return. Yet, it wasn’t long before that warmth dimmed, replaced by the weight of her sudden change in mood.

The tear sliding from Sya’s single, large blue eye reflected in the moonlight, and Orion felt a pang of empathy as she spoke of old memories and long-lost happiness. The way her voice faltered when she asked, “Will we be happy again?” left him a little perplexed and unable to answer immediately. Could any of them truly hope for happiness after all they had endured? After what they had become?

“I think… happiness isn't just something we stumble upon randomly,” Orion finally said, shifting the weight of his thoughts into words. “It's more like...a game of chess. Victory we achieve with the right steps taken. And honestly, Sya, you’ve already made some strong moves. Just look at The Eye and the way you're nurturing that community—it’s definitely something noteworthy.” He looked down at her, the corners of his mouth curling up as his gaze softened. “I get that it might not seem like much at the moment, but believe me, it’s way more significant than what a lot of folks can even claim for themselves in these times.”

Sya’s giggle then lightened the mood, and his worries, as she shifted topics with the fluidity only wine could provide. Her jest about his bedtime and her return to the “snake tower” elicited a quiet chuckle from him. “ I’d hate to keep the Prince waiting. He’s likely counting the hours until my return,” Then, he shook his head. “Well no..that’s not quite right. I imagine him to be quite busy trying to make a kinder world with this place. No small feat that.”

As they moved through the snow, Sya’s scales brushed against his leg when she stumbled slightly, but he steadied her with ease, his hand briefly resting on her arm to ensure she didn’t fall.

“Careful,” he murmured. “You’ve got me as your escort now, but let’s not give Becky another story to tell.”

The knock at the door sliced through the silence that had wrapped around the cottage, a jarring intrusion that instantly made Elara’s heart race. It was such an unexpected sound, such an unwelcome one, that shattered the bit of tranquility she’d built up like a dropped glass. Who on earth would dare to knock on her door, while most of the village was gathered at the morning feast, blissfully unaware of everything that had just occurred? The unsettling thought crept into her mind before she could push it away: could this be more than just a random visit?

They weren’t followed…were they?

Gritting her teeth, Elara dared a quick glance at Amaya sprawled comfortably by the fire, her face aglow with its warmth. Then, taking a deep breath to steady her racing thoughts, she steeled herself and made her way over to the door, half-dreading what lay beyond it and half-hoping that it was some form of help for them. With every cautious step, heat radiated from the crackling fire, yet a chill coursed through her veins. As she reached for the door handle, the cold wood sent a sharp jolt through her fingers, sparking nerves in her belly. Yet, with a gentle push, the door creaked open, her heart gradually finding a steadier rhythm as she finally spotted the figure waiting outside—not a beast or a threat, but a person.

The figure stood motionless just beyond the threshold, framed by the silvery moonlight spilling through the trees. At first glance, it seemed as though a stranger had found their way to her doorstep—a tall, wiry woman whose hooded cloak did little to hide the tension in her stance. Yet something about her felt...off. The stillness of her body was unnatural, predatory, as if every muscle was poised for movement while also unnervingly still.

Elara’s gaze drifted across the woman, each detail sinking in as if she were savoring every bit of the scene. Her angular features were nothing short of captivating, framed by a cascade of ashen hair that flirted with shades of red—like the glowing coals of a fire just before they die out, subtly shifting in the dim light of the moon. Her skin held a ghostly pallor, pale as it was nearly translucent, with a sickly undertone that reminded Elara of delicate porcelain left to brave the frosty embrace of winter too long. It was eerie yet oddly beautiful, and for a moment, she felt a strange urge to reach out and touch it, as if she could confirm the authenticity of such an otherworldly presence.

But it was those eyes that truly captured Elara’s attention. They were deep and haunting, pulling her in with an intensity that felt almost like déjà vu.

The woman shifted ever so slightly, a nervous energy radiating off her that Elara could almost feel in the air. Her jaw was tense, locked, as if she was holding back words or thoughts that were desperate to spill out. And those fists—clenching and unclenching in a steady rhythm—told a story of their own, hinting at some kind of internal struggle that Elara could only speculate about. It made her curious, almost wanting to find out what was really going on behind that intense facade, but she held off, sensing that some battles were meant to be fought alone.

Instead, Elara choked back her nervousness, tucking a rebellious strand of hair behind her ear, hoping the gesture would buy her a second to gather her thoughts. She cleared her throat and finally mustered up the courage to speak.

“Can I help you?”

Location: Elara's Home
As the silver-haired handmaiden appeared, her pale blue eyes meeting Kira’s fiery orange ones, Kira’s heart thundered wildly against her chest. The pull was immediate, primal, nearly overpowering—the urge to close the distance between them, shove Elara back inside, slam the door, tear her open and— ‘Stop.’ She dug her nails into her palm, grounding herself as her humanity wavered.

Yet, beneath the monstrous urge, the human part of her faltered when Elara spoke. The ache of memory was sharper than hunger.

Elara didn’t recognize her. Kira’s heart sank, a deep, wrenching ache that hollowed her out.

Of course, she didn’t. Why would she? They had been children, teenagers back then, sharing brief moments that Kira had clung to like a lifeline. Elara’s kindness had been a beacon during those turbulent times, but Elara had just been herself—warm, patient, unknowingly life-saving. Kira had just been another face to help pass the time within frigid castle walls.

A coldness glazed over Kira’s eyes as the realization settled in her chest, twisting like a blade. A shift in her mental state triggered, a defense mechanism snapping into place. ‘Foolish. Foolish to let herself slip into sentimentality, leaving her heart exposed. She knew better than that.

Kira’s walls rose again, locking the vulnerable parts of her heart away, out of reach. Elara was better off not remembering her anyway. Safer. This would become another wound Kira would carry alone, as she always had.

Uncontrollably, her gaze flicked to Elara’s neck, her pulse visible beneath pale skin. The sight of her jugular—pulsing, delicate, sweet—sent a shiver of hunger and shame down Kira’s spine. Her jaw tightened as she dragged her eyes back to Elara’s, fighting to regain control. She blinked, realizing she’d let the silence stretch for longer than natural.

“Elara.” Kira’s voice came out colder than she’d intended, sharp and restrained. It was better that way, she told herself, but the name burned on her tongue, a ghost of the warmth it once held. A part of her hated the bitterness there, but it felt necessary—armor against both the beast within and the ache that Elara’s lack of recognition caused.

While most people likely knew Elara even if she didn’t know them, Kira’s choice to address her by only her first name was a misstep—a lapse in formal expectations between strangers. To Kira, they weren’t strangers at all.

“Is everything alright?” she asked, her gaze briefly drifting past Elara into the warm, open space beyond the door. Returning her attention to the handmaiden, Kira couldn’t help but to search those pale blue eyes for a flicker of recognition again. But there was nothing. No spark. No remembrance. Nothing.

Something within her—that traumatized child within—still wished for it. She wanted to be seen. To be remembered. To be wanted. Goddess, it ached. After all these years, it still ached.

The ache in her chest turned dangerous, molten anger bubbling up to fill the hollow space.

She clenched one of her fists tighter, her nails biting into her palms. She could feel it building, the simmering rage entwined with old wounds and fresh disappointment. All stoked by the feral beast who wished to be let loose.

“I saw what happened in the forest,” she finally said, trying her best to distract herself. “And I can smell the blood.” Her eyes flicked past Elara into the home again, the scent still thick in the air. “Do you need help? A healer?”

The words came out steady, but an image flashed in her mind—her lips on Elara’s neck, fangs sinking in as the warmth of blood filled her senses. Bliss.

Her eyes settled on Elara again, forcing herself to root her feet into the cold, solid ground.

She wouldn’t retreat, not yet. Instead, she waited, watching Elara, her heart torn between wanting to protect her and the feral desire to overpower her.

And she despised herself for it.

The way the woman tossed her name around was incredibly disturbing because, for the life of her, Elara could not recall who she was. It was like she was naming a casual acquaintance instead of someone the handmaiden hardly knew—no friendly greeting or ounce of respect in her tone, just the flat, offhand mention of “Elara” as if they shared years of inside jokes and secrets.

But this was no Amaya at all.

Elara's mind raced, grappling with the possibility that this could be a ghost from her past, someone who had slipped through the cracks of her memory, maybe someone she’d unknowingly buried deep down.

I—” she started, her voice wavering as she sensed the woman's unsettling gaze darting past her, peering into the depths of her home. The mention of blood sent a cold wave over her, and she blurted, “Everything’s fine,” far too quickly, the words tumbling out before she could think. Despite her calm facade, her hands gripped the edge of the door frame with a tension that betrayed her, as if she were bracing herself against an unseen force pushing her back. “I’m...seeing to the Princess myself.

The woman’s gaze latched onto Elara's like a hawk zeroing in on its prey, an intense scrutiny that made Elara feel utterly exposed as if the very fabric of her being was laid bare for some kind of ruthless examination. The sensation was almost overwhelming, like every heartbeat and shudder of breath was being documented and scrutinized, leaving Elara struggling to maintain her composure under that burning intensity.

Thank you for the offer,” the handmaiden managed to say after a moment's hesitation. “But I have it under control.” Yet something in her couldn’t look away from those fiery eyes. There was pain there, barely concealed beneath the surface, intertwined with something darker that she couldn’t place.

Do I...know you?” The question tumbled out before she could rein it in, her tone soft and almost sheepish, like she was afraid of how bold she sounded. “ It is only…you just seem….” Her voice carried a cautious hope as it trailed off, though the pit in her stomach warned her not to wish too hard for an answer she might not want to hear.

Lord and lady Coswain

The Moon Temple & Attack site

Adonis Coswain mind ran forming a attentive plan as everything seemed to change around him, multiple challenges and several conflicting plans. He ran a few quick plans through his head rapidly as he watched the two. He looked to the Priestess and the guard, the dead body. They all had good points and things that made sense. Someone was needed on guard but the Princess could not fail her protection.

He nodded, she was Lunarian so no wonder she was prepared and armed, even discreetly. The world was harsh and you had to be prepared, even a priestess. She likely was perfectly skilled and Able to handle herself far more than anyone else imagined. “You Both have solid points. take this, it should show my support for you. Just give it to me later.” Adonis said with a nod of understanding, Lord Ayel could be an utter nightmare. He Handed her his dagger, engaged with his own name, and sigil that marker the bearer as being part of the Royal Guard under the Lord Marshals Command. “If they challenge that, I'll get you out myself. You have my trust.”

“You can stay if you're not in a state to head off, I'm going to try and locate the Princess. Lord Ayel is a…. Utter pain, Try to not kill him… it would be messy for me to bail you out. I entrust the priestess, to your protection if you so choose and by extension my wife Persephone. You matter more than that peacock.” Coswain decided, if he was not up to everything , make the man feel useful and give himma duty, something to keep his pride.

He found that the best middle ground to everything that could work, as far as plans go, was the best quick plan he would assemble in the heat of the moment. If he failed to locate Princess quickly he would seek more aid. That sounded like a working idea.

He gave them a look as he turned, if anyone wanted to disagree now was the time, he was not their direct commander, nore a high priest.

He just was the elder, he bit down his thoughts to leave the dead behind, he had left plenty of dead behind in bloody siege assaults climbing over his own dead and dying. Leaving a dead body behind was not a major concern for Lord Coswain.

He began to search.

Aurora Halliwell

Eye of The Beholder
Stables

As Anora pointed out that their names shared the same first letter, a warm smile spread across her face, and a soft giggle escaped her lips, she watched the graceful lady approach Storm, who stood patiently beside her. ”Of course, you can pet her! She’s incredibly friendly and adores when people shower her with affection,.” she said, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm.

Turning to Storm, she continued, “Look Storm! This lovely lady is eager to meet you,” her tone laced with encouragement and warmth. As she watched the two connect, felt a sense of joy.

Listening intently to Anora, she reflected on her own experiences, saying, “It’s evident that you’ve had lessons. My mother was the one who taught me how to handle these situations,” her words trailing off slightly as her smile faltered for an instant, revealing a hint of nostalgia. The fond memory of her mother momentarily overshadowed the lively atmosphere, adding depth to their conversation.

As Aurora watched Anora’s interaction with Storm, a sense of warmth filled her heart, creating a joyful smile to spread across her face. The way Anora gently petted Storm radiated a genuine affection that was impossible to miss. When Anora mentioned her brother and asked her if she had met him yet, Aurora shook her head softly, her eyes reflecting a hint of curiosity. “No, I have not had the pleasure of meeting him yet,” she replied, her tone warm and inviting.

She continued to listen intently as Anora shared her reasons for moving to Downhaven, her interest piqued by the desire to assist the prince. Aurora’s smile widened further at this revelation, feeling a sense of admiration for Anora’s selflessness. “It’s nice of you to want to help the prince,” Aurora said, her voice filled with sincerity. The two women exchanged smiles, a bond of camaraderie forming between them in the gentle atmosphere that surrounded them.

As Anora’s questions filled the air, Aurora felt her smile falter once more, a flicker of vulnerability broke her composure. She instinctively grasped the delicate pendant hanging around her neck, a cherished keepsake from her mother. She took a moment to steady herself. ”Yes, my father was Alistair Halliwell,” she replied, her voice a mix of pride and sadness. ”Yes, I am his daughter, and yes, both of my parents were merchants and healers.

With a deep breath, Aurora tightened her grip on the pendant, as memories surged forth. “It’s true they were taken from me just a few months ago, lost to a vicious pack of wolves. It was a tragic end that changed everything for me.” She paused, her heart heavy with the weight of her loss. “In their memory, I resolved to leave and find a new place to call home, somewhere different, just as they always dreamed I might.”

Her brow furrowed slightly as she regarded Anora, and a flicker of confusion crossed her features. ”Did you or your family know them?” she asked, her curiosity piqued. Aurora had thought she knew the extent of her parents’ connections, but now she found herself wondering if she had missed one of their connections.

Location: The Sun Temple

Doubt crept into her mind as Gadez reached around her to close the door fully, and invited her to sit on her own bed. All the while, his gaze was still gossamer soft as he wrapped her in his words. She was safe with him – but his lack of boundaries had always been a bit disorienting. He was forward in ways that mostly seemed harmless, but Tia now found herself wondering if she should’ve been firmer with him. If perhaps… he misunderstood their relationship.

But he met her eyes with that smile that was so tender – like she was something to be protected and nurtured. It sent her heart rate skipping.

Tia hesitated, her back to the closed door, her eyes watching him as he moved about her room like it was his own. She didn’t know what to do – so she defaulted to following orders, as always. Tia walked to her bed and perched herself on the edge of the mattress, too nervous to relax into it. To her immense relief, he did not join her.

Still, there was that feeling of standing at a precipice – of waiting for something to push her over the edge so she could finally stop this balancing act and welcome whatever shattering impact was awaiting her. He held a spoonful of soup out to her, an act both intimate and infantilizing. But Tia was too off-kilter to protest. Her hand raised to grab the handle of the spoon, her fingers brushing his. She tried to focus on the flavor of the broth, the tenderness of the meat and vegetables, so she wouldn’t have to think about how very warm she suddenly felt. Then he released the spoon and turned away, and it was like she could breathe again. Tia swallowed the soup down. The ceramic bowl seeped heat into her palm.

And then he began to talk.

And talk.

Tia could only sit on her bed, trapped by his words that seemed to wrap around her like binding cloth. They layered themselves over her, tight and heavy, constricting her. The world seemed to muffle. Her breathing quickened. Tia’s mind spun in a frantic buzz of confusion with each bold new claim.

Her scar was evidence of the Goddesses’ existence.

She’d been sent to Dawnhaven so the Arch Priest could be rid of her.

The blight was divine.

She housed the soul of Aelios.

She was a Seer.

The blizzard had been an attack on her rather than an act of nature.

He was the bastard son of King Auric.

The blight needed to persist.

He wanted to depose the Aurelian King.

Tia’s heart stopped. What he was saying… nevermind the outlandish nature of some of his claims, he was suggesting treason. Tia could barely make sense of the flood of information he’d dropped at her feet like a cat with a rat carcass.

But most perplexing of all… he swore to protect her. This was the second time today that a man had looked her in the eye and declared that she was someone who needed protection – that she was worth protection. And again, the same question echoed in her mind: protection from whom?

Tia stared up at Gadez – Halcyon – with wide, helpless eyes. She suddenly felt that she didn’t know him at all. Flashes of their week together darted through her mind. The stories he’d told her. The way he’d enjoyed startling her as she read, only to offer her a cheeky smile and a steaming cup of tea. How just this morning, he’d placed a hand against her cheek with a touch so gentle and warm it might’ve been an embrace.

He was bowing to her, still looking at her with those ghostly eyes. Only the crackling of the fire filled the space around them. His request hung in the air – because this had all been a request, hadn’t it? A declaration of his intentions, so that she might give him an answer he longed to hear.

Her heart beat in her chest like a frantic bird struggling in a too small cage.

Moving was like forcing herself back to life. She placed the soup bowl and spoon, barely touched, onto the bedside table. The movement was too jerky. Soup splashed over the side, dripping on her hand and the wood. But Tia didn’t notice. She was on her feet and stepping towards the man, whoever he was. She closed the distance with a desperate hand reaching out to touch his arm. Tia didn’t understand what was happening, what had led them to this point, but she needed to –

The door to Tia’s room slammed open, the impact like a crack of thunder. Her hand snapped away from him, to fist in front of her chest. Tia jumped, spinning to look. A figure stood in the doorframe, all shining armor and eyes that burned with blue fire. Tia met Dyna’s gaze, confusion and panic still clear on her face.

But this wasn’t her little sister – this was her Champion. And apparently she had decided it was time to get to work.

Interacting with:
Tingara Tomae (@c3p-0h) || Gadez Paladice (@Dezuel)
Dawnhaven - The Temple of Aelios
The Day the Blizzard Broke - Morning

Dyna trusted Tia, but she didn’t trust the man with her. Something about him seemed… off to the young Champion. This, paired with her charge to always guard the Priestess with her life, led Dyna to step in and press her ear to the door just after Gadez had closed it. She couldn’t make out every word, certainly, but what she could make out was more than enough. Enemy of the Goddess, a Dream of Striking down King Auric? Her sworn oaths to both Church and Crown demanded this man not be let to prattle on further.

Nay, his very words were dangerous to Tia. Dyna trusted her to remain faithful and choose the right path… but the implications of knowing such a plot were too dangerous.

So she closed her eyes, pulling in a deep breath as she pulled her shield free. At the same moment, the Champion slammed her shoulder into the door with a thunderous impact. Bursting into the room with the practiced speed and power only known of a Champion. In the same moment, her shield was being raised towards Gadez. Tia’s eyes widened in recognition. On instinct, the Priestess turned away, the thick sleeve of her robe raising to block her eyes. A brilliant and blinding flash of light emitting from it as Dyna sought immediately to subdue the man.

A brief look Tia’s way confirmed the woman was unharmed, and betrayed the ferocious protectiveness with which Dyna had barged into the room.

None would hurt one of her family ever again.

Her attention snapped back on the man in question; ”By the charge of Aelios’ Will and Authority as her Champion, you are under arrest! Submit peacefully, or I will use force!” The Champion demanded, her voice booming with confidence of a trained Warrior even as she advanced, muscles tense for either a fight or to subdue the man.

Aliseth

Murder scene

Aliseth's mind was still muddy and he was slow to react to what was happening around him as he contemplated heavily on the recent events. Weighed down by indecision he did nothing as he watched Lord Coswain disappear from sight before slowly turning his gaze back to the priestess. His eyes were pulled down back to the headless corpse once again. He couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt and responsibility as he look over his former friend, if only he had done things differently, or been quicker.
He couldn't allow himself to dwell on such things. It easily could have been him lying there on the floor without a head. Who was he to question the cruel machinations of fate.
He had little option but to get up and get on with it.

Taking a deep breath he lift his head and found the priestesses eyes. Looking into them, seeing them in a way he never used to be able to. Almost looking through them. He spoke softly.
"You're going to be ok. I, I have to keep going." He spoke with heavy assurance and confidence but his words seemed to be more for his own benefit than hers.
With that said the guard chose his direction and head off alone into the endless night, pulling out a rag or strip of clothing and attempting to clean his hands as he walked, following a line of torchlight.

Gadez had turned on the sounds of the door being flung open, he reached his right arm out to his side slightly and tried to shield Tia behind him from whom had barged in on their meeting, using a bright light in an attempt to blind him. The man recoiled slightly to it before closing his eyes to protect them.

He couldn't help but smile on hearing Dyna's words.

"Do you have no respect for others privacy? Nor the very temple built for the goddess you claim to serve? Knocking can get you far, lest you knock yourself over, like a pitcher filled to the brim. Do you even know what Aelios will is, girl? If so you've ought to know that her path and the path trodden by your twin are in conflict with oneanother. Choose well when the time is upon you. I may be temporarily afflicted by a flickering light, but it is nothing compared to blind faith." He said softly as he raised his head and assumed a pose which was telling that he was still comfortable.

The man reached for his sword-staff on his back. Tossing it to the floor.

"I submit to no man nor woman under nor above the heavens, but I do abide by the laws of the third kingdom and the dream it stands for. You may take me to the... hnn hnn... vault of forbidden knowledge. That is the least I can offer, for someone whose proven me true." He smiled with a slight upturn at the corner of his lips.

"Do bring my weapon along for safekeeping, it is older than you and far sharper. Champion." He said the last word with an amusement in his voice, as he raised both his hands to show his surrender.

"Providing of course Tia does not overrule your decision, girl. Let us be off." The blonde waited patiently with his hands raised, an amused expression on his face, his almost ever present smile.

Syraeia Leela “Sy-a” Inn Keeper

Dawn Haven _ Post Office

Escorting the Snakeness to her tower lair and ADHD adventures.

Now with 50% more blood alcohol content.
Sloshed snakes can slither too

Sya slithered through the snowy streets on orion's arm with an surprisingly high level of comfort as the other blightborn walked at her pace. She was a little slower and made a concentrating look as she tried to keep her balance centered. Sya was quiet as she thought and was lost in her own wandering mind for a few minutes as they left the baths towards the town.

She spoke up looking thoughtful and smiled, Becky was a gold egg and the woman had taken over the bakery with a force and made it her own, Sya was not upset and happy as long as they moved in the same direction with the buxom brunette. “Becky will forgive me, I'm giving her my good boots and long skirts… not fit me, alterations, but she needs a good pair to keep warm with snow coming. warm feet, healthy people.” Sya said having taken her changes in a way only the somewhat unable in keeper could manage to carry on and face her challenges.

Drunk Sya rambled more than normal as she had taken her time to process Orions words, and his support. The Eye had become a small community of sorts among the Staff and she never realised it before, it kind of was like being hit by a breeze as you walked out the door. “That. Makes ssssene…” Sya said with a curious thoughtful look as she made her way past houses and the quiet noise of the town built up. She mentally tried to control her more snake instinct as her tails tip left playful marks on the snow behind her as she moved. “None of them quit you know, even with me… they stayed, I was… it was nice.” Sya admitted to being a little shy but touched by their choice. “Becky and Vala are light sent, I'm not sure how I'd manage without them." Sya feelings where… she was not sure but it did not feel bad.

Sya smiled genuinely, she did think thr Prince tried and imagined his stress was quite excessive for him to be under, running the Inn was enough yet alone a town. “He should have taken some of my Sssshine, it is rather Good, you should try some onion….Orion, onion? Orion. Not much like it at all.” Sya said, seeing the post Office and pulling him over to it with a light tug of her and a flick of her tail, timed to a rather impressive level of synchronicity.

“Sssso I tell her, where is a gentleman taking me on a date, and defending my honour from a foul curr? Or Kira too, i can share… if i get my cuddle time.” Sya teased and her expression turned entirely to mischief but it had broken her darker funk and she was more like the woman who had managed to get townspeople to trust one they viewed before as a monster. Maybe she teased….maybe she did not, Sya was a mental ADHD mystery of a Lamia.

Sya had already pushed a door open and without a pause or chance to pause gone straight to the counter with a degree of confidence and with no chance of not getting her outcome. “Good day post masterI need paper, ink, and a local Runner, charge to the Eye of Beholder, Business Account 01.” Sya said with skipping a beat and and wrote.

Sya composed the letter in her head, her thoughts rapidly flowing and random jumble of a mess. Though she began to place them in order as she lay luxuriating in the hot water earlier.

….

Her letter was signed with a wavy signature and had the odd blot and blob from her wet coat and her emotions she poured into the letter and folded it neatly taking a small wax stamp sealing with “Eris Hightower, Lady Sage.” in her somewhat messy yet readable hand.

The letter was random as Sya was and true to her nature, her somewhat strange yet endearing nature. She handed the letter to the tray marked post local outgoing. She reached out an arm for Orion to take and head to the Eye of the Beholder with the confidence of a noble lady asking a gentleman to dance at a ball. "Send it today please if possible, a reliabe runner, il pay the fee for courier on my account. " She said to the post master politely.

The Eastern Gates of Dawnhaven

Never before had Nesna strayed so far from home. It had been some days’ worth of journey from her home near the eastern shores—how long precisely, Nesna realized she had entirely failed to keep track. Thinking of it, after all these years, she had never anticipated that she would again need any real account for the passage of time beyond a rough guess of when the daylight would show. But since the sun’s disappearance, what real matter was it whether she had flown six, eight, ten, or more hours at once? At varying points, Nesna had been utterly certain that she had somehow overshot something. It seemed so sensible back when she had first made the decision to abandon her home. Once it had become apparent that everything she held in any regard could be packed and carried without too much difficulty, there was little more thinking to be done. If she only flew directly west until she reached the mountains, transverse them, and then followed the southern side of the range, she would eventually arrive that way, if it truly was the case that Dawnhaven sat on the northern shores of the great Frostmoon Lake.

But perhaps she had oversimplified the trip. Rarely had she flown so high as she did to keep alongside the mountains and away from any eyes that might see a blightborn such as her and trouble themselves to rid the world of her. Constant winds and sudden gusts threatened to push her off course, while blasts of snow threatened her ability to even see where she was headed. Whenever it seemed like she had found a decent path through the skies that she could follow the entire way to Dawnhaven, it seemed the fickleties of the weather sought to strike her down for having the utter gall to imagine that travelling through the Lunarian wilderness would by any stretch of the imagination be easy, manageable, or even reasonably possible. Fortunately, if Seluna indeed might have had any regard left for Nesna, if Nesna indeed could feel she had any respectable and tangible virtue left within her, her patience seemed to see her through time and time again. There had been close calls—plenty of them—but so long as Nesna landed in the forests along the foothills of the mountains, found herself something to drink, and made no attempt to spite nature by attempting to do anything more but pull her bundles tighter and find a ditch protected from the wind to rest in.

In these times, between her best attempts at diligently following the landscape and pushing forward, and passing out like an undignified, abandoned corpse in some miserable ditch, Nesna thought, as she often did. It was not altogether rare that she imagined herself speaking to someone else—most often, it was a question or musing on something she’d read, seen, or spontaneously thought of, which she liked to imagine in a better world she might have asked of a mentor or posed to a peer—but this time, she faced an unprecedented circumstance. At some point, if she ever did arrive at Dawnhaven, she would for the first time in ages actually have to speak the words she imagined. In her ditches, before her sleep, Nesna experimented, on some lonely occasions, speaking to herself again. She had long fallen out of even the habit of talking to herself, much less to others. After all, there was no-one to talk to, nothing to say, and to speak in a normal voice was to invite someone unwanted to notice her presence. To speak again at any length or volume felt strange. The muscles in her tongue and her lips had their strength still, for she often mouthed things to feel as if she could at least, if she ever had the opportunity, still speak like a real person. And of course, she still breathed.

No single motion—no single gesture—of the greater act felt at all strange. But the feeling of words actually passing her lips, rather than simply chewing on them and imitating the motions of talking, felt entirely alien. Recalling her voice, before she had changed, Nesna had been told that it was nasally and rather high. If anything, it had been a bit grating on the ears. This notion had not been difficult to believe, for the voice she used to hear when she spoke sounded not altogether dissimilar from how it had been described. As Nesna worked up the courage to experimentally recite passages and then to spontaneously speak to herself again, she found that her old voice, too, had died with age and mutation. This new voice of hers, to her own ear, had lost its youth. For how a normal, reasonable effort to speak produced a quiet, hoarse burbling, Nesna could not help but imagine she sounded like someone struggling against death. For a time, she resigned herself to introducing herself as a haggard creature barely-clinging to life. That if she ever, in fact, made it to Dawnhaven, or if she should mistakenly find another place and plead mercy, she would sound as if the blight were already finishing the job of her execution.

Mercifully, her resignation proved temporary. After reaching the ultimate conclusion that her voice would sound as it did, Nesna encountered a new bout of inspiration as the wind dried her lips. Nesna swallowed, cleared her throat, and then held her mouth open for a time. At a certain point, her mouth felt normal. And then she felt her mouth become dry and cold. Impatiently, Nesna dropped from the sky and sat in a snowbank. After a moment of pensive anticipation, she pushed herself to “Just speak.”

“Blessed Moon, may it be—”

Nesna knelt, began in a spontaneous prayer, and interrupted herself for just a moment as she heard herself.

“May it be that in Your divine guidance, You cast Your gentle light upon one so unworthy as I, that I may be led towards providence. I pray that You might bless me with safety and passage this day and tomorrow, that I may be rightly-guided in my travels, and that I might in some way be able to contribute to the spread of good in this world. Thank You, Oh Pale Lady of the Night, for what I have and for what I may come to experience. In all this I pray. Verily, may it be so.”

Nesna sat back in the snow and traced her fingers along the bottom of her jaw, and then her throat. With a pensive smile, she let out a quiet sigh and closed her eyes. She nodded and then stood still for a moment, as if thinking for a moment longer. Slowly, she stood, and spoke again.

“Thank You, Seluna,” she murmured. Nesna could not help but to sigh again and listen to the sound that reverberated through her throat. It sounded…decent. Nesna could not imagine she might herald divinity or contribute much in the way of song to the world, but for all of this, her voice did not grate on her. With a throat that had perhaps never been properly cleared since it became confined at last cleared, her voice indeed still felt different, but not altogether foreign to her. Her voice had sunk and settled from that high-pitched nasality from before she had changed. But it had not tumbled into the mud, rather, it had settled into something which felt, as Nesna tried to describe it to herself, only proper for her current station. It still held some vestiges of the crackle she had worried about, but it wasn’t so much a sickle crackle as the crackle of effort. It felt, perhaps, kindly and experienced more so than ill. And it seemed to erode as she spoke more and with more confidence, as if it were less so a permanent affliction than it was a sort of sediment that needed to be shaken off from her vocal cords.

Looking past that feature she noticed the most, Nesna found herself almost pleased with how her voice had changed as she’d grown up. It wasn’t melodic, per se, but it had a sensible weight to it, and a certain pleasantry that she had not specifically intended to infuse in it. It felt only proper, that her voice leaned towards being acoustically understated and timid-sounding; after all, what right did a monster have to be anything but timid? Perhaps it was in fact Seluna herself who had seen fit to bless her with some small kindness: a voice that would not grate but rather disarm—a voice that suggested neither intelligence, ambition, nor even eagerness—a voice befitting someone entirely cowed and with no expectations beyond being, in some minor way, of use to someone more worthy.

Nesna had often thought like this. It was not, she imagined as she took off once more, fair to demand of herself that she think this way about herself. No, the question of “worthiness” could not be relevant here. Rather, a voice implying a gentle spirit was a necessity here. For a monster to appear ambitious or excessively bright would surely come off as dangerous, and to be dangerous was the last thing Nesna hoped to be considered. So it was, that this sound of hers, was not so much her accurate sound as it was a blessing that she could sound in such a way—a small mercy that might evoke for her some measure of sympathy or kindness from whoever she could venture to encounter at the end of her journey. It wasn’t as if there was anything better to be expected; blightborn were at best unfortunate products of a bad situation. There was no world, so Nesna imagined, where she might be anything other than a monster or a tragically-afflicted innocent.

But the idea that she might have a decent shot at seeing herself considered the latter was comfort enough. With the weather turning for the better, Nesna found herself entertaining an odd sort of relief—a sentiment she had not enjoyed for longer than she had any care to recall. And as if the day could not be filled with any more momentous developments, Nesna had scarcely enjoyed this long-dormant feeling when she saw, in the distance, the vague appearance of guard towards and the shores of a great lake. Squinting and straining to see as hard as she could, Nesna suddenly felt inclined to drop and land. If this was not Dawnhaven, if the apparent bustle was not suggesting a new city, if that was not, indeed, a temple to Aelos—the Sun Goddess of the south—then what else could it be? Nesna landed behind the mountain and resolved to walk the remainder of the way towards the gates.

She pulled out her mirror from her bag, and worked eagerly to groom herself. Or, rather, do the best she could. Thinking of it, there was irritatingly little to be done, in truth. Nesna had not seen fit to try and alter any of her nicer gowns to contend with her wings. Nesna kicked herself as she realized that she would, in all likelihood, meet the resident royals in the loose, drab, poorly-fitted gown that was still the nicest thing she could actually wear, thoroughly battered by the weather as it was. Just as soon as she looked at herself, Nesna shoved her mirror back into her back with frustration. There was no reason to bother fixing her hair or doing anything more than make sure her face was clean and her clothes were brushed off. After she forced herself from tinkering with her hair any longer, Nesna held her hands down by her sides and sighed. Her very first interaction with another person in years, and she would look like she had been sleeping in ditches. The fact that she had, in fact, been doing so was not at all soothing her disdain for her own grooming. All the same, trying her best to avoid making it too obvious how displeased she was with her appearance, Nesna clamped her cloak shut, carefully made her way towards the path, and began to follow it. At long last, she saw the gates in the distance.

Nesna pushed her hands past the cloak and held them in front of her chest before she imagined she’d even been properly noticed. It was only sensible, especially out here and looking as she did, she imagined, that she ought to make clear that she was fully unarmed. Stopping some distance from the gate, Nesna looked to one of the guards and took a breath.

“Begging your pardon!” she exclaimed. Nesna winced suddenly as she felt herself straining to project, but quickly pushed past it, “Is this Dawnhaven?”

”Wait. Allow me to assist,"

As the group turned to follow Ayel, Flynn paused, his attention caught by a new addition. He furrowed his brows for a moment, confused as to who this man was and why he was so eager to help.

“Do you know anything about what has happened?” he blurted out, green eyes narrowed, losing all formalities of introduction. Before the stranger could answer the question, however, Ayel was on the move. There was little time to waste, so Flynn followed, and the rest of the group fell in stride.

Moving through the streets of Dawnhaven, he kept a steady pace beside Ayel, tension lining his jaw. His mind raced with various scenarios of what could have happened in between the time he left the tavern and now.

"Your highness, this would go much faster if you allow me to use this one as a mount."

With a deadpan expression, Flynn gave the nobleman a sidelong look. “Ayel, don’t be ridicul—”

Daphne's sharp venom aimed at Ayel cut him off, and he fought the urge to smirk. He silently appreciated it, though he gave no outward indication of approval—or disapproval.

"This one, as you call it, is a woman whose name is Daphne and who is friendly enough to help me. Please pay some respect. Otherwise... wouldn't it be more appropriate if you 'ride' on me ? Just as a suggestion, of course."

The ill-dressed man’s bizarre logic gave Flynn pause, and he shot a quick glance back at him for a moment. Ride on him instead? Why would he offer such a thing? At the very least, it seemed Daphne knew him, which was… probably good? In truth, Flynn barely knew Daphne too. She had only just introduced herself to him hours ago. The only person he truly knew was Ayel, which was unsettling. This group was chaotic, to say the least. Where was Orion when he needed him most?

Enough. Flynn finally said, his voice cold. He had no time for pride or petty rivalries, not when lives—Amaya’s life—hung in the balance.

Putting the heated exchanges out of his mind, he refocused on the path ahead and listened to Valthyr’s account of the attack, which sent a chill down his spine. Silently, he cursed himself for leaving the tavern. He should have never left Amaya on her own, even if she had been escorted by guards and in plain view of the entire town. It was naive to think she would be safe here.

At the very least, it was good to hear from Valthyr that Amaya and Elara had escaped the gruesome encounter. But anxiety persisted. The safety of the town weighed heavily on him—the feral blightborn would need to be found and subdued—but his thoughts turned sharply to Amaya. He needed to find her, to see for himself that she was truly safe and unharmed.

Despite hearing Ayel struggling to breathe properly as they ran, Flynn pushed onward, refusing to slow down. Keeping up his nightly runs around the lake had clearly done him well.

As they drew closer to the scene, Flynn’s unease grew and his pace slowed. The sight that greeted them was worse than he had anticipated. A Priestess of Seluna came into view, standing alone amidst the devastation. His brows knit with concern as his gaze settled on the glinting tower of ice, splattered with blood and illuminated by the pale moonlight. Beside it lay a headless body sprawled on the cleared ground, a dark pool of blood pooling beneath.

Flynn’s chest tightened. Amaya’s volatile magic had created the crystalline sculpture, he had no doubt—the image of their ice-coated cabin flashing through his mind. Had she been forced to wield her power defensively? Or had she lost control entirely?

He froze for a moment, taking in the scene as his gaze darted between the body and the Priestess. He realized then that he had not met the blonde woman, though her attire clearly designated her as a Priestess of Seluna. Why was she here—alone?

“Priestess, what happened here? Are you hurt?” his asked, voice firm but not unkind. “This man claims to have seen the crime. Did you as well?” he asked, gesturing to Valthyr before returning his attention to the Priestess.

As he waited for her response, his eyes moved past her, trying to see into the darkness of the forest beyond. He scanned the area and gripped the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it if the creature who had done the damage decided to return.

Location: The Sun Temple

Tia slowly opened her eyes, blinking away the bright spots that danced in front of her vision. Even with her eyes closed and her sleeve as a barrier, the light from Dyna’s shield had been a formidable flash. Her arm lowered as Dyna’s commanding voice filled the room. Her heart still hammered in her chest as she tried to reorient herself. Somehow Gadez had ended up in front of her, and once again Tia found herself searching for Dyna’s eyes from behind his back.

Dyna was arresting him. Somewhere in her mind, Tia knew that this was the logical response – he’d spoken of treason so openly, so brazenly, and to a member of the clergy no less. But still, with her frantic swirl of thoughts, Tia was desperate to deescalate.

Gadez was talking now. His voice was unbothered as ever. His weapon landed on the floor with a graceless thud. He was… giving himself up? Her eyes snapped up to his smiling profile, stepping to the side so she wasn’t behind him anymore. His eyes were still closed. The slight tension he held around them was the only indication that he’d been affected by the light at all.

Dyna kicked his weapon away. Tia flinched at the sharp clatter. Her sister met her eyes, as if to confirm once again that she was unharmed. Then she looked down at the staff, and back up to Tia in a silent command. Because there was something Gadez was wrong about: Tia couldn’t overrule Dyna. Not when it came to matters of safety. Dyna might’ve deferred to Tia for most things, but once weapons were drawn, Dyna’s status as a Champion meant she was in charge.

Tia forced herself to leave Gadez’s shadow. With shaking hands she reached down to grasp it. It was longer than she was tall, with a simple wooden shaft and a wicked double edged blade. A metal ball was secured to the other end of the shaft, for balance presumably. The wood was smooth and worn where Tia wrapped her hands around it — and unmoving. Tia blinked, before hefting with more force. It was heavier than she’d expected. Memories of Gadez practicing with it swam through her mind, how fluid he’d seemed, like this mass of wood and cold metal had been an extension of him. It felt unwieldy in Tia’s hands, like one wrong move would send her toppling.

Slowly, carefully, she walked in an arc through the room to stand by Dyna’s side, facing Gadez. He was smiling still. How was he smiling? If Dyna had heard enough to arrest him… the punishment would be sharp. Panic was the blood running through Tia’s veins. Steadying the ball end of the weapon on the ground, she placed her free hand softly on Dyna’s arm. Tia leaned in, angling her chin up to whisper voicelessly in her ear. It was nothing but enunciated air, her throat still raw and burning.

‘He’s confused.’ That had to be it, right? The things he’d claimed about the blight, Aelios, her

His face flashed in her mind — how softly he’d looked at her. How plainly he’d declared that he wasn’t a danger to her, like it was as true as the ticking of the clock.

‘He’s… unwell.’ Tia’s grip tightened on Dyna’s arm as she pulled back. She tried to catch the Champion’s gaze, to silently ask for understanding.
