So they'd seek a truce a truce with the Ivory Tower-Highfair mafia to buy some time.

If I recall correctly each territory has one Mafia and one Detective faction at work? Or at least is allowed that. So backroom deals between opposing faction could be a thing?

Mafia supports a Detective in taking hold in a territory, and the Detectives willingly turn a blind eye to them unless they're directly impacted?


I like your thinking. It's one faction per territory. So if you attacked a Detective district, that detective would get pushed out. However, you could form an alliance and 'share' a district. That would just mean the resources are split between you. Backroom deals are absolutely encouraged.

Kind of thinking though, narratively speaking, what would motivate Detective factions to fight each other? Like I can more easily picture Mafias trying to jockey for power and ice each other.

Oh definitely. I don't forsee detectives fighting each other. I imagine they would simply do alliances or side-step around each other.

Edit: Oh, speaking of which, if anyone has ideas that they want to do, let me know as I'll be giving you something to react to. I've already changed up a few ideas in light of the alliances being made. ;)

Do they have thoughts in the common language? Asterion could always jump into him, have an internal conversation, and jump out.

Yeah I would think their thoughts would be in mainly common speech; possibly still a bit broken in terms of sentence structure (Which I'm excited to be writing ahah) so He'd totally be able to do that!

Yeah! Much like his speech he'd write mainly in little words; and he can get confused by like, metaphors/similes and more complex language things.
