*Please note that I plan to make this RP High Casual, and will set a certain standard for writing. Nothing extreme, just a decent two or three paragraph minimum with each IC post.I would like to have a co-gm if any one is willing. Everything will be expanded upon if enough interest is shown, I don't want to create a giant interest check, and then have it wasted by lack of people willing to participate.

You live in a world in which magic has begun to manifest itself in certain individuals, seemingly without any rhyme or reason. Those gifted began to show an affinity for certain magics, and have been able to cast powerful spells. As expected, the general public had begun to fear those who have shown this power, and so they were sent away, into an island days away from the main continent of the world. Unfortunately for the gifted, their powers have linked them to another land, far past the boundaries of their home. From this land hail creatures who attempt take control of those gifted, in order to claim a spot in the world. It is unknown what they plan to do once they have succeeded.

You will be playing as The Gifted, living on the forested island of Ractem, after Sprites have taken over the Sanctuary. You will fight to reclaim the island and do your best to not become possessed at the same time.

*Note that weapons will generally not be available, since there has never been any need on Ractem. Whatever weapons you have are what you are able to create on the island, or formed via magic.

Anyone interested?

Interested, but with nitpicks ;P First and foremost the stats. In high casual, i'd expect people to be experienced enough not to need any numbers. Nothing against you personally, but it's a really cheap form of GMing. I'd be reading every sheet from top to bottom several times before accepting, and after that some numbers won't tell me as much.

I am also kinda sad that being possessed by a sprite erases you completely, before i got to that part i really wanted to make a possessed char that would constantly argue with the sprite personality :D That being said, is it possible to play a possessed Gifted?

The stats are to determine which spells become available to you, but I see what you mean, and could think up a new system for that. I'm completely open to ideas being thrown around, and I can change that aspect of possession if you'd like to play a possessed character :P.

I'll update the affinities and spells when I get home.

I suppose that makes sense :) Alternatively let everyone create their 'skill tree' of sorts, and you can control when they 'unlock' a spell. It both gives the player control over what kind of spells they eventually want and you of when/what branch they get.

And yeah, playing a sprite or a possessed sounds like fun :P Perhaps there could be difference between the sprite forcibly taking you or if it was allowed/invited in?

Interested~
And I was wondering about the Gifted being willingly possessed, wouldn't some of them harbor feelings of resentment being forced from their homes and seek out more power to get Even~?

Interested! Though I may be a bit quiet until the end of the week when summer starts and I'll have loads more time to participate. I should at least be able to create a decent character sheet before that time though if need be.

Forsythe: I was considering something like this, since creating each individual spell myself would get boring and take me too long.

Hell: That's completely possible haha.

Thanks for showing interest everyone!

Updated the intro post! The CS has been changed slightly, affinities have been added, and the spells you select are up to you to create.

If any one has any suggestions for affinities, please post them up :).

I love it. As far as affinities go, maybe a divine one that deals with banishments and stuff? Although I suppose that can be a part of white and conjouring. other than that I see a 'counter' for everything, for the lack of better word.

One more question: Are we restricted to the affinity, or are the others possible to use, only much much harder?

Gonna start working on a char now, I am really starting to fall in love with the concept :D

Glad to hear it :P. I usually don't run RP's so bare with me on this one haha.

In regards to your question, no, there are no grand spells available. I am considering placing in a general spell type deal, which everyone would be able to do, but those spells would be very simple, such as lighting candles mentally or casting simple magic missiles.

Alright, this seems interesting. Now, I have a character in mind with gravity based powers, aka space-time distortions. Things like slowing the flow of time of an creature/object, increasing/decreasing gravity, telekinesis. Under the rules of affinities, temporal distortions would be a sub-element of gravity when it's mastered, I guess. But, under which category it could be placed, if allowed at all? Note, that temporal manipulation would have nothing to do with time travel, maybe jumping a few seconds back would the epitome of temporal mastery.

My trouble with temporal distortions is that there is not much defense against it. You can counter mos of the things with at least one other affinity - light with shadow, water with fire, conjouring with anything destructive, etc. Gravity and time are one of the things that can only be countered by itself. I suppose it would be less annoying if you could only target an area instead of a creature/object, so it can at least be dodged or escaped.

Exactly. Area effects, and nothing too grand. For example, increasing gravity in a ~5m radius so the guys with heavy armor chasing you really get to feel the weight of their equipment, or reducing gravity over a ledge so your group can jump over it. For targeted temporal distortions, it would require uninterrupted focus to maintain them. In a nutshell, the character would have very few direct ways to deal with opposition, one and probably main one would be throwing something at them via telekinesis. Similar to light, but even more indirect, I guess.

Counter? Everything that is not affected by gravity or need cosmic level of gravity to be affected, like light/dark/illusion. I don't think gravity would hinder air much either.

It sounds fine as long as you adhere to all those restrictions, and I'll be watching your character closely IC. I'm not allowing time magic though.

Time as in time travel, or temporal manipulation too?
