Behind the bar on the main floor of the club, one of the bartenders stood with the phone to his ear. "Mhm. Mhm. Alright, thanks a lot." Hanging up, he sighed, running his hand over his face, then turned to the second bartender. "Hey Jean, could you handle this for a sec? I need to see the Mistress." He rolled his eyes as she smirked at him. "Get your mind out of the gutter. God knows your body spends enough time there."
Laughing, she waved him off. "I got this, go on. You don't want to keep her waiting."
Both of them grinning, he slipped out from behind the bar and hurried upstairs. The office was empty, and he knocked on the side door, ignoring the sounds coming from the other side.
"Come iii-iiin."He poked his head through the door, keeping his eyes solidly fixed on the dresser in the dimly lit room. "Sorry to disturb you, Mistress."
"Oh, George, you could never disturb us."Groaning, he hung his head. "Could I talk you for a minute? It's important."
"Is it important enough that I have to stop?""Yes Mistress."
A slightly irritated sigh came from the center of the room, followed by a startled gasp and a moan.
"Oh, very well. Becky, be a sweetheart and keep her nice and occupied for me. I'll be back soon." Closing the door behind him, George made his way to the desk. He turned around, and immediately averted his eyes. Talith smirked as she folded her arms.
"Awe, such a gentleman. You know, one of these days I am going to get you in that room.""I'm sure you will, Mistress."
Chuckling, Talith sat down behind her desk, crossing her legs.
"So, what's so important that you needed to pull me out of a session? We were just getting to the good part."Still studying the ceiling, the bartender couldn't help but smile a little. "You're always at the good part, Mistress." Both of them chuckled. "I just got off the phone with Roger, wanted me to pass on a message to you."
Talith pursed her lips, thinking.
"Roger... he's that soldier who works in the fire department with his wife Giselle. The 211?""212," George corrected her. "They responded to a call about an hour ago about a building collapse, that abandoned theatre over on 78th."
"I remember that place. It was lovely when it first opened." Talith frowned.
"But it hasn't seen business in decades. I'm not surprised it finally collapsed.""Except Roger is convinced that it didn't." Folding his arms over his chest, George frowned. "He said the place looked like a warzone, completely trashed and torn apart. And Giselle was freaking out, said she had never felt that much magical residue before." He sighed. "I think something happened, some sort of fight."
For a long moment, Talith remained silent, her face unchanging. Her eyes flicked away from him, and her brow furrowed slightly.
"I see. Thank you, you should probably head back down stairs and give poor Jean a hand." She watched the delicious looking man leave, and she licked her lips.
Such a pity that he's asexual. There's a lot that I could do with him. Shrugging, she turned around and gazed out her window.
So, some supers got into a big fight. That's unusual. She knew all the major players in the area, and no one was interested in bringing attention like that to themselves. Which meant it could only be one thing, and
that thought didn't please her at all.
She glanced towards the bedroom door, pouting as she sighed. It seemed that play time would have to wait a little while longer. Standing up, she walked over to the office lightswitch and flicked it off, filling the room with darkness save for what came through the window. Gradually, even that began to fade away as the shadows engulfed her, and she began heading in the other direction. As she walked, the floor stuck to and moved with her feet, eventually separating and solidifying into calf-length high-heeled boots that clicked and echoed. Her wings lifted off of her back, stretching wide before folding again. Gripping the amethyst set in her bracelet, she gave it a little twist, dispelling her glamour and allowing her tail to once again swish back and forth behind her.
As she passed through a doorway, and a collection of soft green lights appeared ahead of her, Talith sighed. A rush of energy flooded her limbs, making her skin tingle with life. Coming home always made her feel powerful, like she was more than just a demon, but a god. Which, in this place at least, she was. The human world was fun, with endless amusements and so many delightful toys, but Judy Garland had said it best: there's no place like home.
The lights grew closer, revealing themselves to be coming from large blocks of green stone set in a large wall. Inside each was a person, suspended in various states of ecstasy. Peering inside one, Talith smiled fondly as she placed her hand on the smooth stone. A old couple, man and woman, locked in a comfortable and intimate embrace. She had had a great deal of fun with them, and they had been so sweet. Of course, the visible stones weren't her entire collection. Those were just the ones she enjoyed seeing and remembering. There were others trapped in less... pleasant positions. And it was one of these that she had come searching for.
Moving to an unoccupied section of the wall, she placed her hand on it. The surface began to shift, gradually forming the shape of a slightly overweight, balding man, his arms and legs spread wide as though being dragged back by them. The black stone gave way to flesh, and the man dropped to the floor on his hands and knees, coughing and gasping. He looked up, terror filling his eyes, and he raised his hands over his head, as if to ward her off. "Please... no..."
Tutting, Talith pushed his arms away with her wings, curling her stinger under his chin to raise his face.
"Shhh, now now, don't be like that dearest." Actually, she had never even bothered to learn the man's name. She had obtained him about ten years ago in Shanghai, during an incident with one of her vampire escorts. Somehow he had known what the girl was, and had tried to subdue her with silver. Unfortunately for him, Talith had heard her distress, and pounced on him. Their threeway play session had revealed some very interesting things indeed.
"We're just going to talk today. If you tell me the truth, and I'll know if you're lying, then I won't hurt you anymore. Don't tell me the truth, and I'm afraid that be quite offended. We wouldn't want that, would we?The man swallowed, feeling the now sharpened end of her stinger trace over his adam's apple. "N-no Mistress."
She smiled.
"Good boy. Now, there was a bit of an incident today at an old abandoned theatre. There was a lot of magic residue left behind, and I think your little friends were involved. So, I want you to tell me what you might know about it." A chair rose up from the floor, cradling her body as she settled into it.
Immediately, the man began trembling, and he slid backwards until his back hit the wall. "I-I-I don't know anything, I swear! I haven't had any contact with them since you brought me here!"
"I know. And I know that you don't know anything about what happened at the theatre. I want to know what you do know.Swallowing hard and sweating a rainstorm, the man nodded. "W-well, if we were involved, then it was probably a round-up. There's always a demand for more raw materials, and sometimes we come across small groups of supernaturals in hiding. Y-your theatre was probably one of them."
Talith pursed her lips.
"I see. And how exactly do you, 'come across' these groups?""I don't know, I was never involved in finding them. We would just get told a location, we'd go there, capture whatever we found, and bring them back for processing. That's all I know, I swear."
She reached out and gently patted him on the head, causing him to flinch. She knew it was the truth; one of the perks of having absolute power over place was that people couldn't lie to you if you didn't want them to.
"There, that wasn't so hard now, was it? Just a nice little chat, and all of this will be over." She called out over her shoulder.
"Adrienne? Could you come here please?"About a minute into the man's sobbing, a large, brown-skinned naga came out of the darkness, her scales whispering softly on the floor. "Sorry I'm late, Mistress, I was with a client."
Talith glanced her, gently stroking the man's bare head as he whimpered against her leg.
"Usual, or exotic package?"Usual."
"Pity." She gestured to the man as she stood up and began walking away, one wing extending to hold him at bay.
"Be a dear and take care my friend here, would you? I'm bored with him now."Adrienne bowed, though her eyes remained fixed on the man, who whimpered again. "Certainly Mistress. The usual, or exotic package?"
"Exotic."The naga smiled. "With pleasure, Mistress. I could eat."
Talith smiled back at her.
"I know you could. Let me know when you're done."The naga twisted the amethyst on her own bracelet, and she started growing... and growing... and growing, until finally she not only dwarfed both Talith and the man staring up at her in terror, but also would have easily been taller than Talith's entire club back on earth. Looking down at the man, she slowly licked her lips.
The man's eyes widened with horror, and he looked at the retreating demoness. "W-wait! You said if I told the truth you wouldn't hurt me!"
Talith paused.
"I did, and I'm not." She turned around, giving him a very cold look that sent ice running through his veins.
"But, you also hurt one of my toys. That poor little vampire had never hurt anyone, and you traumatized her, which unfortunately for you is something that I cannot forgive. As a result, I don't like you. In fact, the only reason I was keeping you alive at all was because you had some interesting stories to tell about some very interesting products currently on the market. Now that you don't, not only do I not like you, but you're also boring. Which means Adrienne gets to eat, and I have some friends I need to visit." With that, she turned back around and waved goodbye. As the shadows closed over her, and she listened to the man's panicked screams, Talith smiled softly.
"Bon Appetit."Stepping out of the shadows into a large cavern, she smiled at the pair of guards who whirled around, rolling her eyes as they aimed their guns at her.
"Oh, put those away before you hurt yourselves. Also, be a dear and tell Harriet that her Mistress is here to see her."@Orlan
