Name:: Vega Ashworth
Nickname/Alias:: The Reaper
Gender:: Male
Age and date of birth:: 25
Guild:: Golem Hand
Rank:: A Rank
Personal InformationPersonality:: A troublemaker by nature, arrogant, self-centred, and snide and sarcastic at best. Compared to when he first arrived in Luna Crescente, he's a lot less violent, but those who've seen enough of him know that it comes out again in full force when a fight breaks out. He dislikes being talked down on, even by the guild master, he's stubborn too, and in his history, any punishment that puts him down or abuses him just makes things worse and he becomes more liable to go on a rampage. It's usually best to just leave him be after some incident.
As a result of his behaviour he is often alone, and despite his strength, is unable to attain S rank due to him missing on some core values.
History:: A genius by all respects, and highly intelligent. Except for one thing, his orphaned childhood was in one of the worst cities in the world, and so he ended up resorting to using his intelligence to cheat and steal. As he grew older, he became a professional thief by trade, his agility and intelligence unmatched, and combined, made for a deadly combination when it came to stealing. It was not a path that was trodden cleanly either, he's found that intimidation is often most effective if one needed something off the street, some people would do anything to avoid pain.
In his teenage years he attempted to steal a unique tome. It looked old, like worth a lot of money, possibly holding some key to forbidden magic. He stole away into the estate and took it, but it looked like it was a setup, he didn't know how it could be, this wasn't even a commissioned job, but he tore a page from the book and hid it on himself before he was taken away and locked behind bars. It was a gamble, would this page have any way of letting him learn a magic? Or would it just be some dud? Turns out it was a basic spell, which he used to break out.
As he exit the prison he was greeted by the owner of the book, and taken back to the estate. There he would learn that this man was a collector of sorts, and he was impressed with Vega's ability to quickly learn magic, especially from a forbidden tome, but also somewhat shocked at his willingness to tear a page out of a priceless artifact. From here on out, he worked as a unique magic thief, stealing artifacts, tomes, and so forth, while honing his new magic, Spirit Eater, a magic befitting a thief, which could steal and eat the magic of others.
After awhile, he would strike out on his own, he exercised this right to the collector he'd been working for all these years, although he didn't leave without a fight. It was quite a sight to behold, watching him eat up one forbidden magic after another and send it all back on the collector. He didn't turn back after that, but from accounts he'd heard after that, the collector survived, but was forever confined to his estate.
From then on he went from town to town, stealing to get by as that was much of what he knew, eventually he was confined to Luna Crescente's prison. His thievery was caught by one of the S rank mages in the two guilds there, and a large fight broke out. He'd have escaped if it wasn't for another of their mages appearing, but he sat quietly in his cell, waiting for an opportunity to escape, until he was given an offer by Golem Hand's leader. Join, or he'll be turned into the council instead as a dark mage. He knew what that meant, he wasn't an idiot, that was equal to a death sentence, so he decided to join instead. It couldn't be that bad.
It's been a couple months since he'd joined Golem Hand, his strength and efficiency in his jobs quickly earned him A rank, and as demonstrated some of the mages' first meeting with him right before he was locked up, he can easily go toe to toe with an S rank mage, but it's more than strength that earns that rank, so he's been perpetually teetering on it for awhile.
MagicMagic Name:: Spirit Eater
Description:: According to records, the Spirit Eater is a unique magic from an old age, it used the "elemental eating" properties of the Dragon Slayer magic as it's basis, which explains why they use similar forms. This magic is incredibly vindictive, as it was designed to defeat other mages. Based on the age of the tome this magic is learned from, it is likely it originated from a very old mage civil war of sorts, which explains it's anti-mage properties.
The magic takes form as a black aura intertwined with another colour depending on it's user. The aura is matte and semi-solid, allowing it to collide with other objects and energies, and upon contact will simply "eat" the magic away from it. For example, if it comes into contact with say, a bubble shield made of magic, or magically conjured flames, it will eat them whole. However, if the magic is manipulating something, it will simply cancel the magic's sway over it upon contact. This can be useful when he's freeing himself from binds or debuffs, or freeing up allies.
He is also able to form weapon-shapes from this magic and use it in combat, the way he can use this magic is only restrained by creativity.
Equipment::
- Twin Knives, Nyx and Erebus - Both have the identical function of being able to channel magic of any kind and turning into swords, or combining and turning into a larger spear-like weapon of the user’s choosing, the form that Vega chooses which is the scythe is what gives him his nickname.
Fighting Style::
His fighting style in a direct battle is fast, erratic, but except for certain attacks or decisive strikes, his power seems to be a bit lacking. He relies on a calculated overpowering of the opponent’s magic with his own, or just straight up punishing a bad move for most of his ‘power’. For speed he largely relies on his own running speed, which is incredibly fast due to his experience as a thief, not to mention quiet. His own physical strength is also nothing to scoff at, but he won’t overpower someone like a knight, or someone trained specifically for strength. He’s a strange kind of thief mage, which is exemplified by his Power Ghost spell, allowing him to use his opponent’s magic within moments of stealing it.
Known Spells::
- Phantom Sword - He can concentrate his aura into a razor thing blade, allowing him to be more precise, and deal slashing damage. This can accompany punches, thrusts, kicks, and so on.
- Wraith Greatsword - He can call an ethereal greatsword made from his aura, and strike with it. Deals heavy damage, and affects a wide area, but very slow.
- Wicked Laceration - He can send out whipping waves of his magic in a razor sharp strike with decent range and barely readable speed. This move is made more to slice and slash than to drain.
- Soulbreaker - He can channel his magic through his knives to create a curved sword of anti-magic. He can use this as a standard weapon, dual wielding them, or using just one.
- Demon Fang - He can throw out some of his magic as he slashes a surface, creating a wave of his magic to ride along the surface until it collides with something or fizzes out. He can charge this to make a larger and longer lasting wave.
- Tsujigiri - A quickdraw, and more a trick than a spell. He can slash someone as he begins forming the blade, making the strike unexpected.
- Reaper’s Scythe - He can combine both of his knives while channeling his magic to create any spear-like weapon he wishes, except he pretty much always goes with his iconic scythe. He can use this as a standard weapon.
- Soul Harvest: A wide-area slash that covers a gigantic area all around him, this slash is signified by the aura that extends its range. He is able to use this quite flexibly, able to change direction and trajectory by adjusting his swing.
- Ghoul Fist - He can cover his attacking movements in his aura, allowing him to power through magical attacks simply by coming into contact with them. His punches and kicks are fast and ferocious, seeming to take no form of a martial art.
- Heartstealer - Vega goes for what seems to be grasping the opponent's heart through the chest, before kicking them away. This move doesn't do much actual damage, but it does drain a good chunk of the oppponent's magic.
- Vindicator - This move is a fast phantom rush using his magic to semi-propel himself at a target, dealing some damage to them as he strikes them. This move is excellent for closing distances or disorienting the opponent as he can use it to go behind someone quite effortlessly.
- Power Ghost - When he drains magic, he has a few moments before that magic’s effect is consumed entirely. During those few moments, he can use it’s effect for himself with lowered effectiveness.
- Underworld Chains - He can summon form chains made from his magic, while they don’t drain, they can stop one from being able to use magic.
- Burial Binding - He grasps into the earth, and pulls out his chains, which create a fissure as they erupt from the ground all the way to the target. Once it reaches the target, they become lashed and bound by chains.
- Coiled Grasp - He wraps his arm in chains and strikes. If he directly strikes them, they’re instantly bound by his chains, otherwise he if he doesn’t hit directly, the chains are thrown out, giving him the ability to capture enemies from a range too.
- Warden’s Lock/Release - He can choose to lock, or release, once someone is caught. By locking, the chains bind tighter, and last far longer, but he no longer affects them directly. By releasing once they’re bound, the chains lash around them, dealing scarring damage. He cannot lock and then release, as once he uses lock, he cannot affect them.
Hidden Arts
- Death God’s Veil - He enshrouds himself completely in his magic, making him impervious to any magic. As a result however, he moves a little slower, cannot use any of his other spells except for the unique Wraith Sword techniques. He can still swing around the Wraith Sword and twin knives like a regular weapon.
- Path to the Afterlife, Spirit Reaper: A single slash attack with the scythe, using the principles of the skill Izanami's Beckoning, while not yet completely learned, Vega has learned some of it's principles and applied it himself. Spirit Reaper is a single long range slash attack that doesn't strike the target's magic, or their body, but their spirit, living up to the name. He can directly attack their will to fight, their stamina, or even their will to live to be more extreme. While largely non-lethal unless he goes for their heart, where he can induce a heart attack, it is a powerful skill for what it affects.
- Final Journey to Yomi, Izanami’s Beckoning: [LOCKED]
Other- Despite him preferring to be alone, if you share his taste in music, which is rock and metal, he may tolerate you for longer.
- His life as a thief has given him many skills, quiet steps, skilled pickpocketing, lockpicking, and so on.
- He’s quite difficult to approach, but he usually lets people sit near him as long as they don’t annoy him. He prefers to mind his own business, at least until he decides your business is his.
- He enjoys a good fight from time to time, and teases others quite frequently.
- In regards to the Harpies he’s normally quite abusive or oppressive towards them, this can occasionally change depending on the situation.
- He may be an asshole, but he’s far from an idiot. Despite all he does, he’s grateful that the Golem Hand leader decided to give him a chance, since it’s the first time anyone’s given him a sincere chance of any kind. It can be said he would come to his aid should the need arise, but he’s new to those kinds of feelings so he’ll never admit it.
