"Sanity may be madness, but the maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be."
Name:Liam Edward Matthews
Aliases:Ed, Don Quixote
Age: 28
Birthday: September 5th
Ethnicity: Australian
Birth Place: Sydney, Australia
Place of Residency: 10 at Aunt Sue's Inn
Hometown New York, New York
Gender: Male
Highest Level of Education: Masters of Journalism, Bachelor of Media and Communications
Occupation: Associate Producer at CNN
Languages: English
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175lbs
Body Type: Athletic
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color and Style: Short and Messy Brown Hair
Skin Tone: Fair White
Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: N/A
Personal Style: Liam tends to wear darker colours to complement his light skin tone. He has a few more casual t-shirts and jeans, but prefers to look nice if he can, as a result owning a fair few buttoned and polo shirts, nicer trousers and coats. He's not one for being overdressed, but usually aims for 'best dressed'. An average outfit would be a sweater over a buttoned shirt, chinos and leather boots. In colder weather, he'll usually opt for a longer coat and a scarf atop all that.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Personality: Liam loves knowing things, it partly comes from being a journalist, and part just from the way he is. When Liam finds something that interests him, or has the potential to, he will make every effort to learn more about it, often going to the effort of many hours of research on an incident, topic, or person which has captured his attention. This generally applies for those he befriends as well, as he'll usually work to learn as much as he can about them without stepping over any boundaries. He is very firm in his beliefs, and in what he knows is right and wrong. He is also very firm when trying to get information from a source, or in an interview. Often he will grill people, or be rather difficult to beat in an argument as he can get more and more aggressive to defend his position or push for what he thinks he will get. He is not very likely to admit whenever he's wrong, and sticks to his beliefs and decisions often even after he knows they were wrong.
Liam is an incredibly hard worker, some would say too hard. He dedicates himself almost entirely to his work and is usually happy to spend his time at home working on a piece, or stay late at the office to do the same. He always meets his deadlines, and is quick to jump on any sort of task which is set before him without any sort of complaint. He cannot help himself when it comes to being sarcastic, or a smartass in any sort of way. While amusing to himself, it can be quite a source of irritation for others, as he answers some questions in a generally unhelpful and sometimes even patronizing manner. It can be hard at time to tell when Liam is being sarcastic, or genuine, as some of his mannerisms are generally the same either way.

Life Before The Apocalypse
Born down under in Sydney, Australia, Liam had a fairly rocky upbringing. He was the oldest of four kids, having a brother and two younger sisters. While his mother was a sweet, kind and caring woman, Liam's father was a drunk and abusive, he would hit Liam, his siblings, and his mother fairly regularly. Liam stepped up as he got older, and once when he was in high school broke a bottle across his father's face to protect his father. As Liam got older and stronger, he could defend his family against his father much easier, and his father began to drink and attack them less as a result. Despite this rather terrible relationship with his own father, Liam was always encouraged by his mother and cared for by him, and went on to do rather well in his own academic pursuits.
Liam built his fascination with journalism and the world of news at a young age. Shortly after he had turned thirteen, Liam stayed up throughout the night to follow reporting of the 9/11 attacks, Liam admired the reporters, and their dedication to the events as they happened. Moving on from high school, Liam went to the University of Sydney to study a bachelor of Media and Communications. He did relatively well in his degree, and grew close to a few transfer students from the United States. It was while at the University of Sydney that Liam also developed a love of literature, and a deep interest in public affairs. He got involved with the student press, and before graduating was one of the lead writers at the student newspaper.
Shortly after graduating, Liam chose not to search for work immediately, but following the example of his American friends, looked into studying abroad. Eventually, he settled on studying in the United States, and moved to do his Masters of Journalism at Harvard. Liam continued to involve himself with student reporting, and took up an internship at a few local news channels as he studied. Graduating, Liam had plenty of references and contacts, and was lucky enough to be able to secure a position as a new associate producer at CNN in New York. Shortly after she settled into working at New York, Liam began to head numerous stories regarding the increasing tremors and natural disasters, across the country and the world.
Life Leading Up To the Apocalypse // What Brings You to Altsoba
As it became more and more widely known that Altsoba was being considered as where the epicenter of the coming 'apocalypse' would be, CNN wished to send one of their producers to the town to report on things as they happened, and at the very least compile an optimistic message in the event that it was all wrong. Both out of a luts to know more, and to gain some good favor with his higher-ups in the event it was all wrong, Liam volunteered to head to Altsoba where most of the other producers were reluctant. Making his way to Altsoba, he's trying to settle in while learning as much as he can.
