Kyle walked into the room, slightly exploring the room, and smiled to himself. He couldnt believe he was getting the chance to show his stuff right off the bat. His father will be so proud to hear that he bested his teacher on the first day of class......Ok maybe not proud but he will be impressed. And he will have to talk to him about the whole "Boy Wonder" name.
"Alright so how are we starting? Are we going to strike a pose, then shout our names to heavens, making the Gods themselves tremble?""You just start" Mimic said, wondering just how long Kyle could keep up the theatrics, "A villain, or an opponent isn't going to wait for you to just strike a pose, Grayson. They aren't going to applaused, so you just attack" He said, watching the boy, "You can start anytime you like, however"
"Ok Ok. Fine whatever."Kyle slightly crouched and got into his fighting stance. He held both his in front of him, one in front of his head, the other right below his chin, both balled into a fist and held sideways. Kyle stayed liek this for a few seconds, then lunged at Mimic. Kyle planned to throw a left feint then attacked with a right hand jab to the neck, and threw a left hand upper cut after.
Mimic stepped backwards, and ducked low, coming up at Kyle attacked with the jab, and turning the blow away, and moving to avoid the left upper cut, but didn't throw a blow of his own, instead Mimic took a few steps backwards, circling Kyle, waiting to see if he would do something else. He wanted to see the extent of his abilities, as well as see how the boy held up with constantly being stymied.
Kyle was slightly annoyed he didnt land a single blow, but was not discouraged. Kyle jumped backwards a little and put a hand to his head, with the other on his hip.
"Oh you poor naive fool, you think that was everything I had? Well think again for I am the legendary Kyle Grayson! I will surpass my father and grandfather and I will be the greatest super hero ever!Kyle ran forward and leaped into the air, turning sideways and throwing a kick at Mimic. He had planned to throw this kick, which he knew he would miss. If Mimic touched him or he could bounce off of him he knew he could use that to be able to use his acrobatics to land a solid punch in. He could wrap his leg around mimic and twist whatever he was latched onto. If he missed he would be able to bounc eback with a series out punches and spinning kicks.
"oh, no doubt you will surpass your father, when you're a little bit more experienced" Mimic said with amusement, watching as Kyle ran towards him. Mimic merely stood there, and just before Kyle's kick would land, he disappeared, seeming to just sink into the shadows as they engulfed him.
Mimic reappeared almost instantly, on the otherside of the room and said "You won't be fighting people without powers, you have to be ready for anything" Kyle might recognise the way Mimic disappeared and reappeared, having mimicked Kalinda's shadow abilities.
Kyle smirked ever so slightly. Kyle almost laughed out loud but he could contain himself. Kyle knelt down on to one knee and dramatically sighed.
"Oh no! You have stunned the great Boy Wonder! However will he make his comeback........well probably like this."Kyle pressed a button on the watch on his left wrist, the watch being worn military style, and suddenly small explosions went off and the room was filled with smoke. Kyle knew this was his chance. Kyle knew that Mimic probably would be able to outmanuever him, so when he enetred the room Kyle had quickly dropped small remote controlled smoke pellets, courtesy of his grandpa, on the gorund. The remote to the pellets was linked to his watch. Kyle closed his eyes and listened to any sound that gave away Mimics location, and when he heard a sound from Mimic he rushed forward quickly and silently. Kyle threw a jab to the face at Mimic.
Mimic gave a sigh as the room was filled with smoke. He stood still, more then capable of figuring out where Kyle was.
It's always the same, there's always one that thinks they can use tricks and win he thought to himself,
and why is it always the ones that don't have any super abilities? he didn't spare long on that thought. As Kyle approached, Mimic moved silently to the side, and caught the blow Kyle threw at him.
Drawing his other hand up, Mimic went to grab Kyle's other arm, as his wings to beat the smoke away from them, keeping his eyes on the boy, ready to see how Kyle would get free of this.
Kyle felt Mimic grab his hand, and when Mimic went to grab his other hand, Kyle swiftly garbbed onto Mimics wrist as he tried to grab his ar,. Kyle used this to wrap his legs around Mimics waist and land a solid headbutt on Mimic. After doing so Kyle was able to free himself of Mimics grasp, flipped his legs up into the air kicking Mimic, then back flipped away.
Mimic had been prepared for a hit, so when Kyle flipped away, he disappeared again, and reappeared, when Kyle would land. When he did, Mimic simply threw a few punches of his own, wanting to see how quickly Kyle could react.
Kyle saw the hits coming moments before they would land. Kyle made the split second decision to let the first one connect, and while Mimic thought he had the upper hand Kyle charged forward sliding past his fist and pulled out of his sleeve a small black pole. Kyle used it to try to hit Mimic.
Mimic wasn't fooled. As Kyle moved forward, he moved backwards. A game of cat and mouse, it seemed, where the mouse thought it was a cat. Kyle had so far maintained his cool, but he had a lot of room to grow. Mimic avoided the black pole, and moved quickly so he was at the back of Kyle, buffetting him with a blow from his wings
Kyle let slip another black pole from his other sleeve, and connected the two poles. Making it into a slight bow staff. Kyle twisted it a bit and a red dot started to glow, dissapear, and glow, and on and on. Kyle spun around im a circle and threw the bow staff at Mimic, the bow staff spinning like a helicopter blade. When the staff came close to Mimic it would explode. it would be a small to medium size explosion, about the size of a desk. Kyle knew that if it hit Mimic om the head straught up it would kill him but he was betting on Mimic being able to dodge. Kyle fell to one knee and made it look accidental, stumbling and having both hands support him on the ground. When Mimic teleported away he would be ready Kyle was starting to get annoyed but he knew what his father and grandpa would say. You need to fight smart, not just quick or strong. If an opponent outclasses you then it becomes much more than a fight. Its a game of wits.
Mimic didn't expect the explosion, but moved quick enough to avoid any damage. Well, perhaps there were a few singed feathers, but they soon healed. An anger overtook mimic, briefly, "I believe you know that would have killed someone, if it landed. In training, we do not aim to kill. I've been going easy on you, Grayson, and had expected you to snap, but never did I think you might do something so foolish. What if that hadn't been me, but one of your fellow students? Not all of them would be able to dodge, and only a small amount can heal themselves." Mimic demanded, as he stepped closer to Kyle, his expression deadly.
[color=004b80]"Because I knew you would dodge, I did it. If it was someone else I would have used this!" Kyle finsished his statement by tuening quickly around and tossing a small arrow at Mimic aimed for his leg.
"I knew you would be able to dodge it by teleporting, so it was a tactic. I have my forefathers code, Do not kill. Killing doesnt make you better, it lowers to the level of criminals like the joker. That arrow is filled with a paralyzing toxin, that is only effective for one minute. I would never aim to kill either I make calculated tactics and risks. If your not willing to bet everything in a fight then dont bother coming to the homeplate. Our enemies wont stop until we are dead and while we cant kill them we can hurt them. Reaaly really badly."Kyles eyes shined coldly as he spoke.
"I dont have powers but im not weak."Mimic avoided the arrow, stepping aside, "It does not matter if I am able to avoid it. I nearly didn't, because I didn't expect you to be so foolish as to use something like that. A tactic here doesn't work, if there is even a slim percentage of someone getting killed.
I'm well aware that you aren't weak. You don't need powers to be a super hero, and you don't need powers to beat me. Ask some of your fellow students, some of them do not have powers and yet they can still fight effectively without the risk of killing anyone. Here, we teach you how to fight without that risk. Out in the world, its your choice. You don't think I am aware of our enimies, and what they are capable off? I am.
We use simulations, rather then forcing you to fight, when we want to be more serious, but that's not for a few more weeks. This battle was merely for me to see what you are capable off. You have skills, that is clear, but you are still half a child, and you need to think before you do things. And you need to realise that out in the real world, a villian isn't just going to stop and chat for no reason" As Mimic finished speaking, Kyle would find himself becoming ensnared by vines, this ability borrowed from Phoebe.
Kyle sighed as the vines over took him. He knew one of his flaws was he had a flair for the dramatics and he loved trying to be an actor giving lines. Kyle tried to be calm and think of a way to get out of the vines, quickly losing time. At the last moment Kyle thought of something. Kyle was able to reach over to his watch, just barely, and he pressed two buttons. Immediatley Kyle was zapped with bolts of electricity which came from a small outlet that opened from his watch which fried the vines that were touching him. Kyle leaped backwards and landed on his feet, slightly sweating a bit and looking a little worse for wear.
It was clear that Mimic was now putting effort into his fighting, and it was clear her was mimicking student's abilities that should be in the class, but might not be. There were however at least on Campus, and Mimic's knowledge of his students was pristine. Kyle would find himself submerged in an illusion, which Mimic quickly pieced together from what he now knew of Kyle, the boy that wanted to be better then his father, and by the man he considered to be his grandfather. The Illusion was hurriedly borrowed from Kassy, and would be an example of what the girl could do, once she had more control.
Mimic had little doubt that Kyle would get free of the illusion, but how long it took he didn't know. So he acted quickly, Mimicking Phoebe's ability again, he quickly went to tie Kyle up.
Kyle began panicking slightly when he realized he wasnt in the same room anymore. Kyle was sitting in his fathers study, on the floor, with an open book. The book was filled with accounts of his fathers and Bruces adventures when his father was younger. He was Robin, the Boy Wonder at the time and Kyle was mesmerised by it. He thought his father was so cool, but always frowned when he got to the part where he gave up the mantle of Robin. Kyle always thought Robin was the greatest of all heroes. He never had Batmans training, not his league training, but he could still go toe to toe with Batman. He gave up his mantle after leaving Batman but he thought that Robin was his fathers second best creation, after himself of course. Thats when his father walked in on him and he always said the same thing.
"Boy, wonder when you will ever get tired of reading that," his father joked.
Kyle knew he couldnt take his fathers title, not really. But Boy Wonder is something his father always called him in private and it was clever to him, so thats the name he decided he would use.
Kyle then did a double take and snapped himself out of the illusion, thanks to his grandpas training. Kyles muscle memory kicked in and he leaped backwards against the wall, the front flipped over the vines. Kyle, finally getting a tad upset, launched himself at Mimic. He was done fooling around. No more talking. Kyle moved faster and striked more accuratley. Kyle began throwing a fury of jabs and spun around Mimic throwing kicks.
getting serious now, finally Mimic blocked every blow Kyle flew at him, throwing his own blows towards Kyle as well, aiming to push kyle back against a wall, not particularly aiming to overwhelm to boy. Finaly, Mimic teleported away, but this time he simply reappeared where he had been, and catching Kyle's hands when he punched again, Mimic used his own weight and strength to bring them both to the ground.
Kyle fell to the ground with Mimic, and he hit the floor with some force that knocked the wind out of him. Kyle laid there gasping for breath, and after a few moments caught it and sighed.
"The battle is over"
"Yea yea....whatever.Kyle slowly got to his feet and after a second of hesitation he held his hand out to Mimic to offer him a hand up.
Mimic accepted the hand up, and said "you did well. you can't expect to beat any of us teachers on your first day, though. return to your seaT'
Kyle walked through the door and back into the classroom, his head almost hung, but then Kyle suddenly struck a pose.
"As expected the great Kyle Grayson did amazing! No one even try after me because you wont be able to beat such a fantastic performance! Now now dont please hold the applause."Kyle nodded and waved to his classmates, then took a seat next to Kalndra.
Mimic followed Kyle out and said "Who is next?" He looked over the students, glancing to his wrist , but the screen was still flashing blue.
Kalinda watched the battle via the screen, suspecting that Mimic was merely toying with Kyle. She found that she wanted to go in there, and at the very least help Kyle even a little, but she didn't. She gave a soft sigh as the battle ended, and smiled as Kyle came out.
"You did well" Kalinda said softly, "My first battle with Mimic didn't end particularly well, but yours was great" She said, "Mimic is a hard one to beat. i think only one student last year managed to at least bring him to his knees" She gave a shrug, "With his mimikery powers, its hard to beat. But everyone has a weakness"
