Although 5,000,000 'elite' troops seems a bit much-I refuse to get caught up in the numbers as they aren't the focus of this RP. It's enough to say that your military is a bad-ass. But I'm still having trouble reconciling the war-like Kor'karan as being against PKW's, but I suppose if you give some exposition in the RP that would be ok.

I'm not Claw, but the way I see it: If you destroy a planet, that's less war to be had than if you invaded it by land and conquered it. So for a war-loving race, destroying a planet when you could instead fight every resident of said planet makes less sense.

Fair point. I guess it all depends on the viewpoint. Having the 'ultimate' power seems like something war-mongers would lust after. Certainly an interesting point to explore-maybe some in-character fodder.

They love war, but killing an entire species, not only is that a waste for a good war, but it also goes against one of the teachings of the religion the Kor'Koran follow. "Your enemies will fight for their home until their last breath, it is an warrior's duty to honor their resolve and face them in combat!"

There's more to that, but that's basically why they are against PKW's. Plus, where's the fun in blowing up all your enemies in one go?

Core Worlds:

Versila Prime: A lush and verdant garden planet and former Golgotha fortress world. This planet was the seat of Archon Velian before his defection and now serves as the capital world of the Concordance.

Kaldasa: An orange-red gas giant whose two large moons were terraformed into Golgotha colony worlds. An Outer Alliance fleet sacked the Kaldasa System during the War of Retribution, scorching the two colonies to ashen wastelands. The survivors of the Kaldasa System joined the Velian Concordance, and have since welcomed massive reconstruction efforts.

Ciperia: Just after Velian's defection, a fleet of commandeered Golgotha warships under the command of then-Commodore Nilius launched a daring and now-controversial attack on the Golgotha fortress world of Ciperia Prime, the seat of Archon Mandragis. After the destruction of Golgotha loyalist forces and the disappearance of Archon Mandragis, the surviving Golgotha leadership elected to join the Velian Concordance.

Brief History:

Among the Golgotha, few were as esteemed as Severis Velian. Universally-recognized for being pragmatic and capable, the Council of Seven nominated Velian as a candidate to replace Archon Vistulian, who had been killed in a campaign in Vorqhul space. Velian was elected nigh-unanimously; the lone dissenting vote came from Archon Mandragis. As such, Severis Velian became a member the Septumvirate that governed all Golgotha.

During his tenure as Archon, Velian witnessed the rise of the Mandate. The discovery of supposedly-divine artifacts on a dead world led to a wellspring of support for a religious movement that would utterly consume the normally-impious Golgotha. Adherents of the Mandate concluded that it was not sufficient for the Golgotha to purify their own kind of imperfections - all other sentient life was irreparably aberrant and corrupted. The Mandate commanded that these bastard species be culled before their cancerous spread could be halted. The Mandate immediately targeted the most prolific of the aberrant races - the heart of the tumor that threatened to consume all the galaxy. Once they had marshaled their forces, the Golgotha began their crusade against the Llyr Empire.

Archon Velian, ever the skeptic, was dubious of the prophecies exhorted by Mandate adherents. But when his fellow Archons seemed to take up the mantle of the Mandate, he feigned his own belief in the Golgothan cult so as to not alienate himself from the Septumvirate. He joined the other Archons in leading Golgotha armadas against the Core Worlds, obliterating Imperial fleets with the military technology crafted by superior Golgotha intellect. And when the enemy defenders had been reduced to nebulae of vaporized warships, Velian joined his fellow Archons in watching the Core Worlds burn in cleansing flame.

But the Golgotha miscalculated the bravery of the outer worlds. The Archon's believed that upon witnessing the awesome and unstoppable might of the Golgotha, the outer worlds would simply submit to their impending doom. But the outer worlds were not so easily shaken. The terror that the Golgotha meant to instill among the denizens of the outer worlds manifested instead as fury. The Outer Alliance was mobilized, and they immediately set out against the Golgothan war machine.

The Golgothan armadas were thinly spread among the core systems, scouring the uninhabitable worlds and moons for survivors in hiding after the initial onslaught. The Outer Alliance arrived en masse - destroying the scattered Golgotha battlegroups. Archon Velian witnessed the counterattack of the Outer Alliance. He cursed the hubris of his fellow Archons and, rather than committing his forces to fight against the Outer Alliance, he rallied his vessels and retreated to Versila Prime to fortify his holdings against the impending retaliatory assault.

With his fleet guarding the approaches to his seat of power, Velian planned his next moves. He recognized that his fellow Archons would not be able to withstand the Outer Alliance forces. The foolish ones would fight to the last man, and the wiser Archons would retreat to defend their worlds as Velian had. It would therefore not be long before the Outer Alliance came to exact revenge on the Golgotha fortress worlds, and their fleets would be too numerous to resist. With these observations, Velian took the only option that could possibly allow his continued survival.

Archon Velian went before the Outer Alliance and announced his intention to defect from the Septumvirate and join forces against them.

The Alliance was initially dubious of Velian's offer. But the Archon was prepared to make an enticing offer. Velian made it clear that that he would share valuable Golgotha technology with the Alliance and serve as a point of gravitation that all wavering Golgotha forces could rally around - preventing the remaining Golgotha fleets from fighting to the last man.

After much deliberation and negotiation, the Outer Alliance begrudgingly accepted Velian's offer with several harsh conditions. With that, Velian immediately setting about making good on his part of the offer, sending his fleets to 'regroup' with remnant Golgotha fleets before decimating their fleets from within. Velian convinced numerous Golgotha commanders to cease fighting, defect from the Septumvirate, and pledge allegiance to him. Bloodied from both the Alliance and infighting among remnant forces, numerous leaders formally left the Golgothan Septumvirate and joined the Velian Concordance under the self-proclaimed Supreme Archon.

Upon the war's conclusion, Velian made good on the more onerous stipulations of his defection. Unity Accord observers watched adjutors destroy every last FTL drive in Concordance possession. The Unity Accord observers were also given permission to access and edit key databases on Versila Prime, allowing them to personally delete all records of Golgotha gene manipulation technologies to their satisfaction.

Among the Golgotha remnant, Velian is despised as a traitor to his people and the Mandate. Many parties within the Galactic Council see Velian as a calculating despot and see the Concordance as a means for Velian to unify the entire Golgothan race under his banner before waging war on the Galactic Council. Indeed, the Concordance is busily building a new armada at the shipyards of Kaldasa. However, these warships are being built to hunt down the last of the Golgotha remnant forces and assist the Unity Accords Security Council in maintaining peace throughout the Galaxy.

If Velian and Adjutor Andraste can be trusted, that is.

Primary Species:
Almost entirely Golgotha. In accordance with the Unity Accords, other races are permitted to visit Concordance worlds for brief. A handful of observers live on Concordance worlds as permanent residents to ensure adherence to the Unity Accords.

Policy:
Supreme Archon Velian has emphatically declared that the Concordance follows all portions of the Unity Accord to the letter. Adjutor Andraste, the Concordance envoy to the Galactic Council, has given Unity Accord observers a blank check to inspect any facility in Concordance space at any time within three days of an inspection request.

Core Worlds

Osserion: Following the Golgotha's defeat by the Outer Alliance, the Mandate's leadership was constrained to flee from its seat at the former heart of the Septumvirate's dominion, and retreated to the prevalently jungle-covered planet of Osserion. In an effort to render their new stronghold impervious to ground assault, the Golgotha released large amounts of mutagenic substances into the atmosphere, contaminating all life forms present on the planetary surface. Now, Osserion is reduced to a nightmarish mockery of its former self, roamed by hideously deformed creatures and dotted with the sinister fortresses of the Mandate's rulers.

Sevara: A successfully terraformed mineral-rich planet, Sevara has for long served as one of the Golgotha's main industrial worlds, housing numerous combined mining quarries, refinement facilities and industrial complexes. During the War of Retribution the Golgothan loyalists successfully fended off the attack staged upon it by the Alliance and Velian's forces, and it now serves as the Resurgent Mandate's primary forge of ships and weaponry.

Valluria: The so-called "crucible world", Valluria is frequently employed as a test subject for the Mandate's new prototypes of planet-killer weapons and hostile terraforming methods, which are applied on a reduced scale upon sections of its surface. As a result, it has become an uninhabitable, chaotic patchwork of scorched crystalline wastelands, gaping chasms and swathes of foul growth inhabited by selectively mutated creatures. What renders it notable is that it serves as a rallying point for the Mandate fleet, and a large detachment of troops is perpetually stationed in its orbit, either on large ships or research and monitoring stations.

Brief History

The Mandate began its existence under the rule of the Golgothan Septumvirate as a religious movement, brought into being by the recovery of certain curious objects whose origin was so enigmatic that the hypothesis of divine creation was not deemed entirely implausible, even by the materialistic Golgotha. Obscure features and symbols observed upon these relics seemed to indicate that they bore a specific message; despite their entirely alien nature, several bold interpretations were produced, the most influential of them being one which asserted the markings spoke of "purity" and a "duty toward the cosmos". This hypothesis had a significant social impact, prompting many of its supporters to form an association strongly resembling an organised clergy. The Mandate's influence constantly grew, prompting, among other things, the scientific spheres to develop and perfect processes of bio-cybernetic improvement, until it was able to sway most of the Archons to its side and initiate the notorious crusade of cleansing against the Llyr Empire.

Though the Golgothan armadas laid waste to many a planet in their wake, the intervention of the outer galactic forces, as well as the defection of the Septumvirate's own Supreme Archon, eventually shattered its advance and dispersed its forces, ensuing in crippling losses. Seeing the entire nation thrown into disarray, the Mandate mobilised to rally the troops and civilian population which remained loyal to its ideology, and, rejoined by Archon Mandragis, who, unbeknownst to the Velian Concordance, had managed to survive the assault upon his stronghold on Ciperia Prime, succeeded in organising its retreat to a number of peripheral systems.

There, what remained of Golgotha society was fully assimilated by the Mandate, whose leaders assumed command over its key functions and began to actively spread their more radical teachings throughout it. As a result, the entire Golgothan population was gradually reshaped into its present unearthly forms, and what was once the Septumvirate became the theocratic Resurgent Mandate. Now, the new Golgotha, bolstered by the production of Unbegotten spawn, are beginning to rebuild their might, unwavering in their determination to burn all impure life to ashes and assume domination over the galaxy and, afterwards, the universe itself.

Primary Species

The Golgotha of the Resurgent Mandate have fully embraced the doctrine of artificial self-perfecting, and as such have, by the means of progressive universal enhancements and physical modification, transmuted their entire population into something altogether unlike their original form. These beings possess bulbous spherical bodies supported by six radially extending limbs, which end in four-digit appendages. Their pale grey skin is entirely featureless, as they project their senses through their entire body surfaces and feed by osmosis. Their endoskeletons are fully mechanical, possessing singular abilities of autonomous development. New additions to their ranks are not conceived biologically, but artificially bred in vats to ensure optimal development, which has earned them the appellative "Unbegotten".
No other sentient species exist within the Mandate's domain.

Policy

The Mandate abides by the infamous tenets which prompted the Golgotha to begin their campaign of extermination, and namely that those who have ascended to a "perfect" state possess divine right to direct the development of the entire universe as they see fit, whereas all other sentient beings are undeserving of existence. No tool or strategy is forbidden in the struggle against the enemies of cosmic purity - all possible methods can and must be used to eradicate the foulness which blights the face of the galaxy and ensure the survival of its true masters.

Economy

At present, the Mandate's efforts are directed at rebuilding the Golgotha's former industrial potency, all while ensuring it remains capable of defending itself in case the Unity Accord were to launch an assault. As such, most of its resources are directed towards the improvement of its manufacturing and research establishments and military production, with a significantly lesser amount being devoted to infrastructure repair and maintenance.

Military

The Mandate's military is mainly constituted by its armed fleet, as its members prefer not to directly expose themselves in combat. Said fleet includes numerous cruisers, while smaller ships are seldom employed outside of utility roles and localised harassment strikes - this is due to the Golgotha's focus on planetary bombardment strategies and long-range engagements, as well as the yet-unreplaced heavy losses of the war. Though such a force is somewhat lacking in flexibility, its mobility is significantly improved by the fact every vessel is equipped with a FTL drive, which the Mandate has no qualms about using.

The much more scarce ground forces, intended for rapid strikes against weakly defended strategic spots, comprise genetically enhanced Unbegotten "super-soldiers" specifically designed for battle, as well as many drones and robotic units to supplement for the Mandate's reduced population.

The seat of power for the Luak Hegemony. A fortress world dominated by brutalist bureaucratic buildings, artificial rivers and lakes and the endless sprawl of government. Private citizens have been 'evacuated' by government decree since the outbreak of war and the displaced populations dispersed across the possessions of the Luak. Chohun is where oligarchs, politicos and the War-Masters confer on policy, strategy and tactics and the main fleet is temporarily stationed while repairs continue at Toyun I.

Toyun I
Renamed in honor of the influential and honorable Lord Toyun, who was assassinated by Gologathan agents, Toyun is the home of the Luak Fleet where armies of engineers and drones are tasked with repairing and rearming Hegemony vessels. The geosynchronous ship-forge is being reconstructed after a Golgothan Terrorist managed to detonate a mass-inversion torpedo aboard the Cruiser 'Legend'. The resulting chain of explosions killed thousands of workers and incapacitated the Hegemonies ability to repair and rearm ships for a few years.

Brief History

The Luak Tae Hegemony were ancient allies of the Llyr Empire and briefly attempted negotiations with the Golgotha before the assassination of Lord Toyun by agents of the cult of the Mandate. Enraged, the Luak Tae Great Council abandoned any attempts at peaceful negotation and mobilized the armada. It was not until the Core Worlds of the Llyrian Empire began to burn that members of the Outer Alliance realized the danger of the Golgotha, and the War of Retribution began, albeit much too late.

Formed the core forces of the Outer Alliance Armada in the war of Retribution.
Participated in the seige of Sevara, the primary Gologathan Industrial World, with devastating losses to the main fleet.
Evacuated a handful of Llyrian Nobles at the last minute, at great cost.

Llyrian, refugees and asylum-seekers. The Llyr are nearly extinct.

Policy

The Luak Hegemony are the main proponents of the ban on FTL drives and the installation of Warp Gates at key galactic locations. In addition, nothing short of the utter destruction of the Unbegotten will be an acceptable outcome. Representatives from the Luak Hegemony are highly suspicious of Archon Severis Velian.
Food stores have been devestated after the war, due to the deficiency in trade with the Llyr Empire and the destruction of the agrarian worlds on the fringe of the Empire, and the ban on genetic manipulation.

Economy

A recession has gripped the Hegemony after the loss of trade with the Llyr Empire.

Military

Luak forces suffered over 50% losses in the War of Retribution and are struggling to recoup. What Llyrian vessels could be evacuated (mostly fringe ships, on outer patrol or captured privateers) make up the main Luak Fleet at this point. The Llyrian Cruisers and Dreadnoughts are big heavy things, more symbols of Empire and power than practical weapons and the Luak Commanders are struggling to learn the nuances of the vessels while Luak ships are under construction.
