@Holy SoldierHonestly, I have no problem with the special abilities system as it is now. Though, I definitely understand where you're coming from. If anything, you could probably discuss it privately with the player/character in question to see what both GM and player come up with between them. That seems a fair compromise between the current and new system, no? Plus, I figure it provides some interesting options for creative flexibility. It's ultimately up to you, of course. I'm mostly just suggesting that for my case. In other words, I'm comfortable leaving potential specials up to you.
Speaking of abilities, would you care if I PM you with my planned add-on preliminarily for when I level up? The same question goes for my secondary CS.
Lastly, I would also like to disclaim ahead of time that if I end up lagging behind at all that it most likely just means I'm catching up on school shit. I'm certainly not planning on that happening, but I feel safer letting it be known beforehand just in case. It won't completely pull me out of the game or anything, so there's no need to worry about that. I'll still be following closely regardless. The worst that happens is I end up needing a grace extension, but feel free to jump ahead of me if it comes to that. (Hopefully, and likely, it won't.)
