@Crosswire@WingsOfBronze@Etherean FireActually, that may have to change. We can't have Sans with 1 HP through the entire game. Regardless how fast he is, there will be times where he'll get hit. I also await the day where I ban the character from ever being used in this game. Undertale will be a hard game to create continuous level ups for without anyone calling BS. The characters are more than likely going to be relying heavily on Special Abilities.
I agree with you in regards to his HP. He'll die quickly otherwise. However saying you want an excuse to ban a character feels kind of mean spirited Holy. :C
Unless I'm simply misreading the tone.
Sans may not have a clear route for ability progression suited for the leveling up system of the roleplay, but that's the case for plenty of characters who would otherwise be great potential additions to the game. Not every character has explicit growth or development in their games.
Jack for example doesn't have any growth in Dead to Rights: Retribution. So the most I can do is chop up his core abilities and deal them out piecemeal for 'upgrades' and after that I'm stuck giving him the few weapons he can pick up in game [i](pistol, sub-machinegun, shotgun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, the usual boring shooter deal) and relying on Special Abilities for anything interesting.
Stuff Jack can Do- Punch People
- Shoot Guns (only able to pickup and carry two at a time, they're more or less disposable since ammo pickups aren't a thing in game)
- Grow emotionally attached to head and chest high walls due to Wallhugging Syndrome (Aka Gears of War Disease)
- Bullet Time
- Disarm Enemies
- Preform melee/weapon take downs on weakened enemies.
- Have is monstrous dog separate enemies from their pelvises. Aka Shadow literally maims their groins and I'm pretty sure he eats their balls. It's kind of disturbing now that I think about it
- Kind of/sort of share senses with Shadow? It's not really a stated thing, but in game Shadow can see enemy heartbeats and thus more or less see enemies through walls. Even when playing as Jack you can do this so...
And that's pretty much it. Though he does put on a neat suit of G.A.C armor
(though it doesn't do anything in game sadly) and temporarily boards a large powered exoskeleton with a gatling gun for a shoot-em-up section near the end of the game, so I could potentially have those as upgrades if I stretched things but probably not.
However that doesn't make Jack
bad.
I chose him knowing full well he wasn't exactly deep or well developed. However I saw this game as a chance to expand on his character/personality. Getting to play grizzled, punchy, loose cannon cop who is a virtual nobody in the world of videogames alongside wisecracking skeletons and Gem Fabio from LoL sounds like an amazing experience.
If you forced people to stick to player characters with clearly defined ability progression then you'd eliminate tons of games and potentially interesting characters. I understand there has to be some kind of basis to work off of, otherwise people are just pulling stuff out of their butts which becomes
very problematic
very fast.
You're trying to keep things orderly and that's good policy for a moderator. At the same time however I think people should be given some leeway. If a problem comes up then there's no reason we can't be diplomatic about things and come to a discussed solution.
