Hamel Village was a small village in the far west of the region. A long time ago paths used to wind through the old forest of dreams. The forest of dreams however was known to shift with storms. A awful storm ruined most of the known paths the rest fading into memory. A town lay on the other side now only reachable by the great river. The boat keeper would only accept 1000z or beating him in a pokemon battle to go across. A young trainer could also take there way through the perilous forest.
Violet had been woken up like she always did; with her lovely Eevee pawing at her face and mewling at her. She stretched, peering at the curtains that let in the mornings light with a yawn.
"Morning Eevee" she said, reaching out to gently stroke the pokemons head. She smiled, Eevee always looked so happy to see her. "Ok, let's start our day. I have no performances...so we can go out together!"
Eevee hopped off, making her adorable happy sounds as Violet prepared herself for the day. Showered, dressed, and feeding herself and Eevee, she was soon out the door and stretching again.
William isn't really much of a sleeper always preferring to finish his book of the week so when he found himself waking up it came at a sudden surprise. "Well this isn't the worst way to start the day." William said then geeing out of bed making sure to have the blanket fold over one half of the bed.
While finishing up with the blanket he looked onto the other pillow where his playful Pokemon lay. "Ah I guest Playing that game of fetch drained the poor guy, best not wake him up yet." he softly spoke to himself, he went to take a shower making sure the temp stays at a warm 87 degrees fahrenheit.
After his shower and himself getting dressed he went into the kitchen to prepare food for both him and his little pal. halfway thru his cooking, eevee woke up with a yawn and a stretch after with they made a hurried scamper into the kitchen. Following this breakfast William and his little eevee walked outside to enjoy the day.
As the Librarian and the Idol walked from their homes, the gentle smell of something hot would waft to their noses. Should their eyes follow their nose, they would spy one of their neighbors doing something unorthodox. A man in a martial arts gi could be seen walking across a bed of coals. Further more, atop this man's head, is a bucket, full of steaming water! On the sidelines, an Ekans could be seen. "Ek-ek, Ekans!" Ekans would yell, in a cheering manner. The man grunted as he walked, moving towards the other side with balanced motions. After a few more steps, he felt his scorched feet touch the grass, damp with the morning dew. "A-ha!" He declares, loudly, and proudly. "Another challenge overcome. Another step taken!" He declares, holding a fist up to the morning sun! However, in doing so, he upsets the bucket on his head, causing himself to be drenched in hot water. "YEEEOOOWWWW!" He yelps, before rolling around in the grass. Ekans gently slapped its face with its tail, obviously not amused with Richard's antics. It slithers off, and comes back out, carrying a bucket of water filled with ice. It quickly flings the bucket onto Richard, the bucket smacking him in the face as he got up, drenching him in the ice water while leaving a large goose egg on his forehead. "YEEEOOOWWWW!" Richard howls again, shivering. "That's c-c-c-c-old!"
Mike woke up and stretched out as he thought about how today was the day he started his journey to be the best there ever was. He was going train his hardest and eventually become the champion of the entire region. Nothing was going to stop Raidowaves!
Mike then looked down at Claws who was asleep on his lap. Maybe he could wait a little while longer.
After sitting in bed for half an hour waiting for Claws to wake up, Mike decided enough was enough and got up, trying to not wake up his faithful companion. Having done so successfully, Mike got ready for the day as he suited up for the adventure ahead of him.
Mike and his Meowth left their home and began heading for the forest as the two of them were pretty sure they could take on anything in there. However Mike changed their direction when he saw Violet leave her own home with her Eevee. Mike had held a bit of a grudge against Violet ever since he had entered a local Pokémon contest a few years back and got utterly demolished by Violet's amazing performance.
"Yo Violet, lose any Pokémon contests lately?" Mike said in a feeble attempt to make himself look cool. Inversely Claws gave a friendly wave at Violet's Eevee.
Violet and Eevee were startled by the loud cry from the martial artist! Eevee barked in his direction, while Violet said "Hey! People are sleeping still!" She crossed her arms, hmphing. Which is when Mike (@rocketrobie2) turned up. Baaad timing for him!
"Hi. Nope, not done any more since that one, sorry! Had to worry about my career, I was booked in a lot of concerts" she gave a half-smile "have you joined and won any since?" She picked up her Eevee, petting it and walking over to Mike "look at Eevees bow, isn't is so cute?"
A door flew open and a furious new kid stepped out. The youngster had a backwards hat and yellow shirt. Joey had moved from a different part of the region and taken to bragging about his elite top tier rattata. The noise had clearly woken him up as he pointed at Richard he yelled furious "Go back in your house and shut up before Rattata and I teach you a lesson." Joey threw his pokeball his rattata glaring at Ekans angrily.
The yearly contest was coming soon the prizes for first and second place were an actual ribbon case needed to start the region championship. The entry rounds was tomorrow, but it required two pokemon to enter. If Violet and Mike didn't catch any pokemon by tomorrow night they'd be disqualified. The Gym leader from a nearby town had also put up posters for the pokemon league. The night seemed calm a red eye barely visible viewed the small crowd from a bush in the tree line curious at the commotion.
"Psshh, Radiowaves has won tons of contests since then." Mike said, referring to himself in the third person. In reality he had only really won one pokemon contest that was organized by his school once and even then only a few kids entered but that didn't stop Mike from exaggerating his victories.
Upon realizing that in order to become an actual pokemon contest contestant or even the greatest trainer that had ever lived, Mike would need to catch some more pokemon aside from his Meowth.
"Hey Violet" Mike said ignoring the question on wether her Eevee's absolutely adorable ribbon was indeed cute "how would you like me and Claws here help ya catch another pokemon so you and me can join in some real pokemon contests? If I were you I'd take this offer. It's not often that an ace trainer such as myself offers such assistance." Mike said as he brushed his hair back a little.
Violet looked thoughtful at that. She did need another pokemon, and Mike was being nice to offer....so she nodded with a sweet smile. "That's really really kind of you! Me and Eevee will do our best to help you too! Let's go catch a second pokemon together. It'll be a little adventure" she giggled, Eevee making a happy mewling sound in her arms.
"So..." she said as she turned to walk towards the forest, a little nervous "where did you go? I didn't know you'd left the village for more contests. Meowth is looking very cute too, he must be proud of how well he's doing." Violet tried not to look nervous as they reached the forest edge. She'd only heard scary stories from the forest after all
The eyes that had been watching them seemed to vanish as they drew near the woods. The red leaved trees hung above them ominously. It was considered dangerous to enter the forest at night. The few who risked it rarely returned. The two young trainer however could only see shadows and the rustling of bushes as the forest waited a few red eyes in the dark staring at Violet curious wondering why she was out in there forest. There were also slight snores from other pokemon fast asleep. It was likely the forest monster was fast asleep as it's rampages often took place during the daytime. @medalliah@rocketrobie2
"Uhh..." Mike said as he quickly tried to come up a lie. "I uhh... They were night contests! You know real underground stuff. Pretty dangerous stuff but me and Claws weren't worried at all." Mike said as Meowth rolled his eyes a little as he walked beside the two trainers.
Truth be told, Mike was getting a little scared as they made their way deeper into the forest but it was to late to leave now or else risk looking like a wimp in front of Violet.
@Masterkeun "You dare threaten me?! You're on punk!" Richard replies, quickly leaping to his feet. Ekans too glared at Youngster Joey, taking offence to the youngster's interruption of their training! He felt quite unhappy, to say the least. Richard waited for the kiddo to throw out his rat forwards, no doubt under-trained if this kid wasn't willing to push themselves. "If you're not willing to get up at the crack of dawn, and push yourself, you're in no position to make demands!" "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap.." Richard thought. He had never gotten into a battle, and he had no idea what to expect. Ekans too felt nervous, thinking of all the nasty things a ratta could do to him. It could bite, tear, tackle....
The small rattata looked nervous to be up against an ekans. Joey smiled having it use tackle as it darted forward in a blur barely nudging the ekans. Joey smiled confidence oozing off him "Had enough yet punk?" Ekans hadn't taken even a small amount of damage. Joey this time had his rattata wag it's tail tauntingly at Richard smirking "Even if you wanna give up I'm not done yet!" @supertinyking
The eyes surrounded the young trainers trying to lead them off route an making them lose themselves in the forest. When the kids were deep enough one of the creature darted forward tackling Violet's eevee before buzzing. The red eyes appeared to be attached to a dark purple pokemon hidden in shadow. The kids had seen this pokemon many times in the day light. The Venonat was joined by a similar sized Venonat which charged meowth out of the shadows behind Mike. @rocketrobie2@medalliah
C.J. brushed a lazy hand across her cheek as her Ekans, Zulu, continued his gentle attempts to wake his partner up. Soft snores escaped the girl's mouth, which was slightly ajar in the pale moonlight. Zulu's incessant hissing next to her ear made C.J.'s other free hand involuntarily swat the air, as if the slumbering girl was being accosted by an annoying bug. Her fingers eventually collided with the smooth scales of Zulu's strong neck, and he startled at the impact. Her bright blue eyes flicked open with recognition just as Zulu began coiling himself securely around his former assailant. C.J. grumbled aloud as she pulled herself up onto her elbows, her mousy-brown hair looking quite disheveled from a fitful night's rest. "What time is it?"
She spoke rhetorically, knowing Zulu could only respond with one of his tonal hisses. Her eyes scanned the walls of her quaint bedroom, crowded with endless Pokémon photographs captured by her parents. The light from a small computer monitor flooded the otherwise bare room, and C.J. slinked towards it with still sleepy limbs. The screen blinked the words, no new messages, and C.J. sighed heavily before clicking out of the notification. Zulu rubbed his head comfortingly against C.J.'s wrist, and she smiled longingly at the cold reptile on her wrist. "No worries, bud. We'll hear from them soon." She stroked two fingers atop Zulu's head and pulled her staple yellow coat from its resting place before making her way to the mirror to untangle her hair.
At the exact moment she had successfully managed to tie her hair into a messy bun atop her head, a howl of pain pierced through her bedroom. Confusion laced both C.J. and Zulu's eyes as they headed towards the small bedroom's open window. From below, they witnessed the tail end of Richard's morning routine. The smoke singed the inside of C.J.'s nostrils, and she furrowed her brow just as Richard's own Ekans came to his aid. Her sweet laughter burst forth at the Pokémon's heartfelt helpful gesture, and even Zulu's body shook with amusement. She heard other night voices escape from windows, one in particular catching her attention. A face she didn't recognize, someone new, proposing a challenge to Richard and his partner. C.J.'s arms bristled in excitement as she yelled from her lofty position, "You've got this, Rich! Just don't finish him off until we make it outside, we want a better view."
C.J. hastily fastened a leather belt and satchel around her feminine waist and bolted down the stairs, practically tripping over her long legs as she went. Now in the open air of the small village square, C.J. made her way over towards another familiar face. William and his Eevee strolled lazily along one of the paths leading to the forest. She quickly closed the distance between herself and the bearded gentleman, nudging him sharply with her elbow in greeting. "Will you get a load of this Joey character? My Zeni, if I had any, would totally be on Rich." She didn't wait for a response as she plopped down to the ground, folding her gangly legs as best she could across each other. She pulled out a rice ball from the pouch at her waist and shared it with Zulu while they patiently awaited Richard's next move.
C.J. is woken up by not only her Ekans, Zulu, but also by the sounds of the skirmish below between Richard and Joey. She eagerly races outside into the night to watch the battle from a healthy distance away. She nonchalantly invited the librarian, William, into a casual conversation before plopping down and sharing a late night snack with Zulu.
@jagajac Still little tired William almost didn't notice C.J. trying getting his attention until she started talking about joey "Well I never actually seen Joey in the library so I find it really hard to believe that he has a intelligent battle strategy other then tackle." William let out a full hearted laugh that you could easily mistake for Santa Claus after this he looked toward to the battle on hand, cupping his hands to his mouth he yells to joey and Richard. "Don't you guys think everybody has has enough of you two acting immature?" While William and his eevee are gentle in nature they aren't afraid to bite back if given the chance. Not really waiting for an response William and Lois walked into the forest actually making an effort to explore and train other than whatever they are doing.
Christine was resting at the hill next to big tree, looking at the river which showed in distance. Watching at the views, she taked her packed lunch out of her bag "Eve, come to eat" she called her little Eevee which was chasing after a leaf there. Quickly the small brown pokemon run to her, poking it's head to her arms, for food and happiness "There you go, we needs to continued our journal soon" she said giving a part of her bread to the pokemon.
Eatting the bread she watched at the forest, which wasen't too far from where she was right now. She was wondering what kind of pokemons she could find there. She loved fire-types and wished to see either Vulpix or even a Charmander which both was very unlikely, but always can hope.
The ratta moved in a blur, and Richard expected a powerful strike. Ekans too braced itself, expecting a super effective attack! The two, pokemon, and trainer, saw their worlds slow as the purple blur slammed into Ekans. The small rodent bounced off of Ekans like a ball of rubber lobbed against a brick wall. Ekans was the first to note how little that had hurt, before they shot forwards, not needing Richard's command to do that which came naturally. As fast as its body could move, Ekans slithered around the Ratta, closing in to wrap himself around the purple punk that thought they could interrupt Ekans' and Richard's training session!
Richard himself watched as his friend rebounded quickly after being struck. He was in awe, a solid collision, and Ekans didn't budge an inch! Truly, his friend was in great shape, and he had much to learn from them. He watched as Ekans began to work themselves around the Rattata. Surround, and then collapse in, like rushing water! Richard took note on how Ekans handled itself. Flowing, before crashing inwards, an effective strike... Richard was to busy watching, and studying the movements of both his, and his foe's pokemon to notice the chatter around him. He was ingrossed in his battle, picking it apart, attempting to gather that which might not be clear to others. He could, as well, be completely over thinking the entire thing, seeing lessons where none existed, while maybe ignoring others that were plain to see, such that Rattatas were not effective against Ekans.
The River was calm moving slow. A squirtle was looking for snacks over near Christine. The small blue turtle was the first pokemon awake waddling back towards the water happily in the sun glow holding a small fruit. A magikarp leapt from the water creating a small rainbow the boatman watching the squirtle. The squirtle took a moment to check out his boat with interest. The small turtle blushed looking up to Christine falling back on its shell in surprise, @Pink Madness
William with his knowledge of pokemon could see the tracks of a pair of trainers being lead away by Venonat. William could also wee that there were two different track types on either side of the forest. The prints were definitely weedle or caterpie tracks, but it was impossible to tell the difference. There were very fresh tracks nearby leading towards a fallen oak nearby. @MisterMisery
Violet's Eevee hit hard the venonat falling back shaking a little. It gently stood up looking winded as it charged again missing and tumbling into a tree. It gently blinks looking to it's cohort as it shakes standing back up weakened. @medalliah
Rattata cries out as Joey watches shocked unable to attack as the Rattata faints returning it to his pokeball. "Richard you always cheat!" The youngster runs away to the pokecenter handing over fifteen Zeni. Ekans glowed slightly appearing to become stronger before Richard's eyes hissing upwards victoriously before crawling towards Zulu in a friendly way. @supertinyking@jagajac
C.J. waved to William's back as he stalked into the dark forest. She called out a quick, "Good luck!", before turning her attention back to the ongoing battle before her. She took note of the Rattata's boldness and ferocity, quickly scribbling out sketches and fragments of nearly illegible handwriting into a small leather bound book she had pulled from the satchel at her waist. After gulping down the last hunk of the rice ball, Zulu secured himself around his friend's forearm, keeping his small head exposed to the crisp night air at the base of the girl's wrist. His golden eyes flickered with anticipation as Richard's Ekans fainted Joey's Rattata with a final surge of its wrap attack.
A pang of empathy struck C.J. as the youngster ran off with his fainted Pokémon, realizing how heartbroken she would feel when Zulu lost his first battle. More so for the confidence of her Pokémon than for a failed battle strategy on her own part. She tapped her pen against the leather cover of her book, her thoughts becoming muddled and chaotic. The victory hiss of Richard's Ekans brought her back to reality. The curious serpent drew closer to where C.J. and Zulu still sat together, and C.J. leaned forward onto her knees in a welcoming gesture. Zulu tightened his grip and retreated slightly into the folds of C.J.'s jacket. She patted his head through the yellow fabric and pulled another rice ball from her belt, happily extending the snack for the deserving Ekans before her.
"Great battle, Ekans! Maybe you could show Zulu some of those sweet moves?" She smiled sweetly before looking over to Richard. She wondered if the martial artist would be up to accompanying her into the woods after such an intense battle, but she knew either way where her and Zulu should be heading soon. She needed to win one of those ribbon cases in order to start her journey to becoming a regional champion, but that would also mean adding a new Pokémon to her little family. It would need to be someone very special, but C.J. had high hopes for the potential partners awaiting her and Zulu within the eerie forest. She gently shook Zulu from her arm as she stood to shake Richard's hand. He plopped to the ground and balled into a defensive coil, cautiously eyeing the mirror-image before him. "Fantastic execution, Rich! Glad Zulu and I got to see it go down." She furrowed her brows at her partner and nudged him closer to the other Ekans with her foot. "We were just about to head out, seems like that's where everyone else disappeared to." She cocked her head to the side as she added, "Care to join us? We might fare better with the two of you."
