Atop the building, there stood a figure.
It was the tallest building in this area. At least, currently. The town was mostly fairly small, and from here what could be seen was its small schools, a few of the other districts, some of the residential area... truthfully, it could not yet be called a city.
At least, right now.
The figure was a girl.
Looking upwards, towards the sky, she raised one hand. With a confident smile, placing her hand directly in front of her view of the sun, she clutched it like a fist.
It was time.
"Kino, Kino!"
"Mmn... huh...?"
The ground beneath her was no longer a soft bed at remarkably cheap pricing. Beside her lay her jacket, her coat, her equipment, and, of course, the Cannon and the Woodsman, both in their holsters... But this was not the room she had purchased. This was not, in fact, a room at all. Rubbing one eye, the dark-haired girl slowly sat up. She was quick, snatching her jacket and coat up, putting them on swiftly as she grasped both of her guns, the Woodsman going behind her as the Cannon was quickly placed on her hip. Her surroundings had dramatically changed, and this did not feel like any kind of dream to her. Her eyes quickly snapped around to take in her surroundings. It was some kind of... schoolgrounds? This was nothing like the country she had gone to sleep in...
"Kino, do you think this could be some kind of custom that the country has?" asked Hermes. The motorrad sat nearby, his voice sounding more curious than frightened.
"I don't think any country could have a custom like this, Hermes," she replied, her hand hovering near her hip for a moment as she looked around. Surely, if someone had tried to move her while she slept, she would have noticed... and as she took in her surroundings, Kino began to realize that she was not alone in this plac, though she did not see anyone immediately. She stood in silence for a moment, unsure of what to do. Even as a traveler, this was not something she was prepared for. What could take a person so quickly to someplace else, without their awareness, along with everything they owned?
Placing her hands on Hermes's handlebars, she walked the motorrad about the area. It did not appear that, at the moment, there was anyone in this area of the schoolgrounds. Was school out at the moment, perhaps? It was the most likely explanation, but something here felt strange.
"Oh... there's no-one around," commented Hermes.
"I don't think that's true," replied Kino, "Even if we can't see them at the moment. I have a feeling that it won't be long before we meet someone."
"What makes you say that?"
"A hunch."
There was one pressing question on her mind, above all else.
Where was she?
Eh, there wasn't any real reason not to show off in this entrance. Sure, it wasn't anything serious at the moment, but those two weren't expecting it. Placing her pocky in her mouth, the redheaded magical girl lept down... and suddenly the ground appeared below her far, far faster and greener than it should have. Hitting at an awkward angle, the girl lost her balance. She attempted to drive the point of her spear into the ground in a bid to catch herself, but it was too little, too late.
Kyouko hit the ground face-first. It didn't hurt, it's not like that kind of thing was a problem for her. But it did snap her pocky in two and cause her to lose it entirely. Quickly, the redheaded girl pushed herself off the ground, leaping to her feet and swinging her spear up and at the ready, anger playing clearly on her face. "Okay, who the he-..."
She trailed off when her eyes fell upon the world around her. This... was certainly not the alleyway she had been descending into. It wasn't even in Mitakihara. She didn't know what it was. It definitely wasn't anything she was familiar with, but what the hell could explain this?!
She was in the middle of a street. There were cars all around her, but none of them moving. No, it seemed they were all parked. This was hardly the location she'd expected to be in. For that matter, she didn't see anyone. Not Mami or Homura, not anyone on the street... it seemed pretty empty.
And yet Kyouko had this strange feeling that she wasn't alone.
"Hehehe..."
Tch. It was always the same, wasn't it? These kinds of people never seemed to learn their lesson. They saw someone who looked defenseless head through an allyway by themselves, and thought it was a good time to try and spring a trap and take their valuables or whatever... There was no way around it, these guys were pretty stupid. It was bad enough that they even though to do this to someone in the first place, to attack somebody like this... Folding her arms, Mikoto leaned against the wall as the group of men encircled her. They were all older, at least high-school aged, and looking like they thought a rich girl from Tokiwadai would be an easy target to get some money off of or something like that.
Well, it didn't matter. It didn't matter what they were thinking. Mikoto had somewhere to be, and these guys were some idiots who thought they'd make a quick buck off of a seemingly-defenseless schoolgirl.
"Now, hand over the-"
From outside the allyway, bystanders would perhaps hear a crackling sound, and then silence.
Around Mikoto, the men fell to the ground, smoking from a electric shock that had been administered. It was powerful, naturally, but they'd be fine. The shock was enough to knock them out, not to kill them.
It seemed like something like this happened every once in a while.
Mikoto turned on her heel, heading out of the alleyway, before pausing. This was not Academy City. This didn't even look like Academy city. It was a much smaller town, though not totally rural. Turning to face the alleyway once more, she found it totally empty of the thugs she had just defeated. It didn't even appear to be the same place.
It was hard for the Electric Princess of Tokiwadai to understand what had just happened, but... all the same, she'd have t o get to the bottom of it!
