Avatar: The Legend of Rosai

I'm going to say this now. As Rosai is a "late" Avatar, she's already in her early 20s when she's discovered to be the Avatar. Those who are making or want to make characters as her peers, aim for the age range of 19-25. Most roles can ignore this, but [love interest] and those aiming for "Team Avatar" status should probably be within that range.

You can be an older member of Team Avatar (Lin Beifong or Tenzin, as examples), but if you want to be the "Mako, Bo Lin and Asami"-type peers, you have a range of ages.

Regarding air bending mastery and tattoos, the usual age for receiving one's tattoos falls in between 14-16, right? Aang and Jinora were prodigies, resulting in getting there's at 12 and 14(?), however, I'm uncertain when an air ended normally receives their tattoos. I know it's based on mastery, not age, but there has to be an average age when people master their element. Anyone know?

I believe it's generally around 16ish.

@December Unless it's mentioned in canon... well, my sister does some ballet. You 'master' ballet around 8-10 years after you begin, and most start at age 7... so sixteen to nineteen, I'd say.

So the basic idea I had is that Zoze lives somewhere in one of the deserts not occupied by a city. In fact he ranaway from home when his mother died of illness in the city because he didn't want to be taken by another family or placed in an orphanage. He was around 9 or 10 and was rather scared of the thought of being taken by strangers. So he fled. He lives in a little shack and has done a lot of stuff on his own.

In fact, if it it's okay with the GM, I'd like them to believe Zoze is the one to teach the Avatar. Hermity fire bender in a desert, who doesn't like people sounds like the perfect image of a teacher. But it turns out Zoze is not the teacher it's Neo's character. But that's how he'd get into the group is by them thinking he was supposed to be the teacher.

Zoze has now patiences when it comes to teaching someone. ha.

If your character is in the same age group as Rosai and has been training for most of their life, then I'd say go ahead and give them their tattoos, @December

So, I know it was mentioned a couple of pages back, but I couldn't find it.

What's the state of the nations? Is republic city still there? Is the Earth Kingdom still a kingdom? Are the water tribes still seperated and tribal? Etc.

Well our story begins in the Si-Wong desert and the plot is very travel based, but I imagine the world looking more like a modern world, since the technology we're using is a cleaner version of what they had in the 70s-80s, though it might be underdeveloped in some areas, such as the desert and the Southern and Northern water tribe (and the swamp lands).

@allhollowseve The Earth Kingdom is now the Earth Federation and all the other nations are still the way they were (fire nation, water tribes, air nomads) (plus Republic City), though I imagine the Southern and Northern water tribes are more connected now.

I'm curious as to if the Air Nomads have resumed the gender segregation of the temples - males at the northern and southern, women at the eastern and western.

@CollectorOfMyst I would assume that with such a diminished population, they would have at most populated two temples, if they chose to return to them.
