[OOC] Avatar: The Legend of Rosai

Fire. Air.Water. Earth.

Avatar Korra changed the world. Under her watch, freedom flourished, the world prospered, and people grew closer. As with all things, the time of Avatar Korra on this world ended. And so the Earth Federation, under their Council of States and Prime Governor Wu, sent the Dai Li and White Lotus to comb their towns and villages for the next Avatar to lead them into the new world.

However, the deadline came and went with the new Avatar unrevealed. Tensions simmer across the world, whispers building that the Avatar's work was done, or that they'd left the world for another 100 years. Master Jinora of the Air Nomads withdrew, searching the spirit world for clues. The Fire Nation began a quiet search within their borders, the treacheries of the Dan Li and Earth Empire still strong in their minds. The people began to worry, feeling without the Avatar, another threat may soon rise…

Meanwhile, the Red Lotus have not disbanded. They're alive and well, spreading their tentacles into politics, business and everyday life, with members both influential and nondescript.

Under Korra's watch, they could never build significant numbers. However, with the brief absence of the Avatar, they have seized the opportunity. They now strike at the White Lotus, hoping to strangle it and destroy the organization.

Yet in the depths of the Si-Wong Desert, a girl begins to dream of the outside world…

All air benders would be a descendant of Tenzin, since he's the descendant of Aang, the last airbender, there's literally no other route for ancestry there. :p

S3 Spoils

After Korra opened the Spirit Portals (Harmonic Convergence), a great awakening swept through the world, granting the ability to bend air to many non-benders. That's how Zaheer gains the ability to escape his prison and free his comrades to ascend to become one of the most talented air benders of all time, before he is defeated by Korra before he can end her avatar cycle.

I assume these new Air benders would be able to pass it along to their kids.

@Neo Is Delight, suffice to say that at the end of LoK there were about 30-40 airbenders in the temples with hundreds of Air Acolytes, so I'm about ninety percent sure that there are airbenders who can't trace their ancestry back to Aang, even if it is only by a generation before their family are nonbenders.

Season 3 Spoilers

Bo Lin and Opal's kids have a fairly good chance of being airbenders. (Along with firebenders or earthbenders) There's one family at least with no Avatar Aang Ancestry.

Personal Information

Positive personality traits: Kind, passionate, friendly, though difficult to get close to.
Negative personality traits: Aloof and mercurial. Though he is easy to be friends with, he's not always easy to keep in touch with. Competitive, though usually in a friendly way. He's a gracious winner, and if it was a close thing he can usually laugh off a loss, but if beaten badly he'll be a sore loser.
Role: Love Interest
History: Zhay’s family owns a repair shop for automobiles and motorbikes in Republic City. Though on the straight and narrow now, thanks to Zhay’s mother’s domineering influence upon marrying into the family, they were a chop shop in his grandfather’s day. His grandfather was among the revival of airbenders during Harmonic Convergence, back in the age of Avatar Korra, and Zhay inherited the ability, alone among his siblings and his father’s siblings. As such, his grandfather took him under his wing and tried to teach him what he knew, not only of airbending(which was basically nothing anyway) but about how to make money in less conventional and savory ways. Under his grandfather’s influence, Zhay took up motorbike street racing, with his grandfather usually betting on the side.
But Zhay aspired to more, and saved up his winnings to get into a proper, sponsored race. His grandfather didn’t care for this development, as he had no way to manipulate the betting pool in a legitimate sporting scene, and Zhay wasn’t willing to throw a race when he’d put his own money down to get in.

Zhay took up travelling with his new hobby/occupation, and has made his way to an off-road scene on the edges of the Si-Wong Desert.

Special interests/skills/hobbies: Zhay inherited his ability to airbend from his grandfather(for whom he is named), who in turn was given it quite unexpectedly late in life by the Harmonic
Convergence. His grandfather was a drunk and a criminal, though, and refused to give either vices up when the air nomads came to ask him to join their temple. As such, neither Zhay the older nor Zhay the younger has ever had any formal training. Zhay doesn't understand the principles or philosophy of the Air Nomad monks, and instead uses his grandfather’s sloppy, booze fueled style.
What he lacks in skill with his supernatural ability, he makes up for by being a well studied and skilled mechanic and driver.

@Gisk I like it. Rosai and Zhay should interact well. And we have an airbending teacher, so there's the opportunity for him to learn alongside her and get... Close... I did have the mental image of Rosai using her slipstreaming trick she uses to run faster while riding a motorbike.
