Andras

Andras had heard Vernon's remark. "Hey! It's the Demon Lady of Despair! It's not hard to remember!" Andras wasn't just going to allow someone to misuse her titles. She spent a lot of time thinking them up, and she deserved to be referred to as such.

Still, Andras wasn't quite feeling the same as everyone else in the party, apparently. Being the Demon Lady of Despair, she was very active at night. 'Not everyone can afford to brave the darkness daily, I suppose.' She nodded to herself, crossing her arms in a display of confidence. She knew it was her job to guide these tired humans to a sanctuary.

"If you mortals are exhausted, then I suppose I have no choice." Andras let out a low chuckle, as if she was above even the concept of sleep.

She put on an air of coolness, but Andras was wondering at this point if there was a chance to meet a REAL demon. She tried to contain herself. Lowering her voice, she leaned in towards Vera. "T-There's an actu- I mean, there's another demon at that girl's house, right?" She thumbed towards Meredith.

Celestine Lightbringer

@Dezuel

"You're welcome." Was the only reply that Celestine made, before breaking eye contact. Galbrek's minions were strong because they had doubtless faith, or it seemed so... but hesitation could bog someone down more than physical chains. It was also a matter that Cel was an utilitarian. Resources should never be discarded willy nilly, and for a magical automaton with capabilities for self improvement, what was an arm lost for the sake of experience?

The seed is planted. Nevertheless. You should treat your underlings like your own children, Galbrek. But i doubt his parents know the least about raising someone. Cel hummed as he drove the car to a unknown alley, and popping the hood and the trunk, proceed to destroy the car by burning it with its own fuel, to eliminate all traces of his misdeeds. It wasn't as bad as what followed next. With little to no clothes, he had sifted through the garbage and produced foul smelling but serviceable cloths for the both of them.

"We need to do something with your arm. It's too noticeable." He added as he slinked back to Vittorio's resting place in the middle of the night, deflecting the questions about himself and the smell that the Mephisto guards made to him.

I'm gonna be so overworked like a horse. He mumbled to himself, as he pulled a cheap cellphone, and punched a certain message to a certain number, before tucking it away. One more task in the grocery list. He really needed a shower and to take a resting place so he could manage for Vittorio to wake up. But not before offering some clothing and a resting place for Celine. "We'll sort your arm in the morning."

Somewhere...

@RoflsMazoy

Warden McKlusky breathed heavily, pondering the words exchanged not long ago in his head. They burned like hellfire. His eyes, his gaze. The sweet voice that pronounced those words, and the heavyset ruination they brought. So what if he had dipped in the pot for a while. He did not deserve this. Not when that quack street doctor had cured him from a STD that he would have had a lot of trouble explaining to his wife. He didn't have much money at hand, so a favour for a favour had been exchanged. And now that street doctor had called the favour, with that zany attitude of his. Cigarettes and a phone. Something fairly easy. A delivery, he could do. But a delivery to one of the most high profile prisoners, Mephisto, was...something different. But he pushed on, using his wits and abilities to keep the parcel away from the cameras, and deposit it at Mephisto's feet, discreetly, in the middle of the night.

"F sends his regards." The warden parroted, before brusquely turning away and never thinking of it again. He really should take a break from all of this stuff.

Meredith looked once more at Wolf, and then at Vera. Her usually cheery features twisted in some sort of pain for a reason, before addressing Wolf once again. "Alright, Wolfie." She said very little, a hint of sadness in her voice. Her shoulders slumped significantly, as drain caught with her. Hardly the only one. The chatty Ascott family had a bad case of passing away mid-sentence, and a certain Venom or whatever he was called rushed to his aid. Well, they were probably fine, despite that weird woman. Chatting about plans and stuff.

Meredith could not care, as she was staring Anna who was still feeling quite the rush for having had tasted human blood, and now was leisurely flapping above the rest. And then both Venom and Vera exchanged poisonous barbs... and decided to crash her home, which made her think. She bit her lip trying to juggle the fact that her house was in a bit of a strange situation now. But it had been an honest request for help. Even if the one who was going to be sheltered was a Demon Lady without any once of demon power.

"But mother is doing her chocolate ritual right now. And Cyan is sleeping in my bed. I found him walking the doggy. Also demons are territorial..." She pondered. "But the Demon Lady of Despair should be fine, I mean, I can't really feel an ounce of demonic energy from her so... floof floof."

Meredith interrupted herself as she eyed Masami up and down, a troublesome spark forming in her eyes as she lunged forward and hugged Masami rather quickly."Eeeh! So cute! Is she coming too? She is totally floof floof!" She said, before Anna, the ten year old half-demon, made her best impression of a flying kick and hit her forehead.

"YOU OAF! Don't get distracted by mongrels!" She added, her eyes set first on Vera, and then on Wolf. "Why yes, you all will be welcome. Wolf sleeps on my bed, though. Hehe. We don't have enough." The little demon-winged spam smiled mischievously. "Vera can sleep in the doghouse."

Meredith flared up red, before forgetting about Masami and releasing her. "Focus. First friends. Then cute Floof floof." She said to herself before reaching her hand and yanking Anna's demon tail hard, in an odd display of forcefulness. "Anna, be polite. Your bed won't fit Wolf. Mine will...but bweee... Anyway, we can sort who sleeps where later. Dad won't mind having you there, Wolfie. He always had a liking to you.". She added, as she walked towards the both. "We can't reach there by flying...so uuhh, who has spare change for the cab? This suit doesn't have much wallet space...".

Andras

Andras stiffened at Meredith's comment. 'Why does everyone all of a sudden have the ability to detect demonic energy?!' She needed to summon a few demons just so she could get some residual energy on her person.

"W-Well, you see, I suppress the wellspring of demonic energy within me, because it's likely that it may cause issues for mere mortals if they were subjected to my full power..." Andras laughed to herself slightly awkwardly, turning dramatically away from the party so they couldn't see her face flush with embarrassment.

"I also don't have any money for a cab." Andras added in a meek voice, turning back to the party.

'Because my paycheck passed out... Poor William. Too pure to handle the night.' Andras's expression softened up with the thought of her friend.

Masami's brow furrowed as she found herself perplexed by Vernon's explanation. He was a bad guy...but helping William? Hmm...

Ohhh.. she thought as she raised up her hand to rub her chin in puzzlement, He must owe William! He must be some kind of servant to pay off his debt, right? That's the only likely explanation! she exclaimed to herself.

"I'll be sure to stay on his good side then! Wouldn't want to anger his menial, now would I?" she said over her shoulder as she turned towards the rest of the group, a giggle escaping from her lips.

She watched the scene unfold before her. From some new arrival who barely even had any clothes on- to Vera spewing profanities left and right. But her eyes widened as she saw the small demon-girl flapping her little wings and speaking to the rest of the group. I-is that-

Her thought was soon interrupted as she heard a squeal very close to her, jumping as she turned towards the source. And took a face-full of Meredith hug. "Mrrff-Hey!" Masami mumbled as she tried to escape the other girl's grasp.

Suddenly the fur on her ears began to stand on end as they perked up. She wrinkled her nose as a familiar distasteful smell reached it, before she let out a sneeze. She squirmed out of Meredith's hold, stumbling backwards. Why are there so many Demons here?!

But...they all seam really...nice? she thought, thoroughly confused at this point. She was always taught that the majority of demons were vicious, mindless beings, who only enjoyed hurting others. Maybe it was different here?

She would still remain alert. For now. She resented being called a mongrel, though. Maybe they weren't all nice here.

She noticed her own blush, turning her head downwards, remembering how Meredith had at exclaimed her cuteness while trapping her in a hug.

Naseraph Sana

Nasaraph sat there in shock for a second, just trying to wash he sick feeling of the demons energy from his mind, before finally noticing that Brutus had at some point come to occupy the bunker with him. Well hallelujah, that was one problem solved wasn't it? He wasn't surprised, that lightning feeling had to have come from somewhere. He would normally put on his relieved face at this point but at this point he wasn't in the mood for playing pretend anymore. There was to much going on to worry much about his facade. "Brutus, did you tag her?" He asked, not even looking at him. No, he must have. He would have tried again by now if h had missed, and Naseraph had only absorbed the excess of one lightning attack. "Use everything you can muster. Strike her with the lightning the gods themselves hesitate to send, for this creature intendeds to kill us all." With that he rose and stepped out of the bunker without another word.

They would have to kill it, he was sure, and they had to work together. This wasn't out of any sense of comradery, merely base self-preservation. It had seen them. If they left it, just ran away or let it escape, it would hunt down the lot of them and slaughter them one by one. That was the way its energy had tasted. While they were together there was still a chance. If they were to split apart and let it have its way they would only be delaying their own deaths.

He stepped out, squinting his eyes at the light of the miniature sun that sat in the middle of the roof that, shining brightly enough to blot out the few stars the existed in the night sky over the city. He was fortunate he hadn't been absorbing when she did that. That would have killed him outright, or worse.Still, the light it gave off perfectly reveled the demon that was flying at them. No, not flying exactly. Freefalling was more like it, as though it had been knocked across the roof. Wait, no, he was mistaken....

He felt his new stores of energy flow inward, moving through every muscles and nerves in his body, bolstering him. He sprinted out the doorway, past Aram and Samoth, and jumped into the air to meet the demon. As he closed the distance to it the creatures eyes suddenly snapped open. It flapped its wings to bring itself upright and lashed out with a claw. He had been right. It had been playing possum. It's fight path had been far to steady, it hadn't been tumbling or trying to right itself. It had probably seen where it was headed and intended top catch the boys over here by surprise.

Its claw caught only empty this cloak, tearing a large chunk out of the back. As it came for him Naseraph had spun with an inhuman grace, changing his momentum and trajectory enough to let him fly over the head of the creature. This mongrel monster, it had actually believed it could land an attack on one of his exalted race in mid air? The absolute conceit! To fight in the air was the domain of the ethereal Gods and those they truly favored. Even the smallest of chicks knew that.

He ended his spin by grabbing on to her wings and bringing them together with a wrench and a crack, causing her to plummet out of the sky her kind did not deserve. She landed om her feet in front of Aram and Samoth. "The sword!" Naseraph commanded.

Wolfram & Vera

Vera pursed her lips so hard one might have thought they'd fuse together. In one breath Meredith had suddenly been cooing over the fox girl, and in the next she'd been asking for cab money...

She chose to ignore the brief mention of Wolf fitting in Meredith's bed. Anna was just straight up ignored. She'd burst a blood vessel if she got any angrier.

"Don't remind me," Vera muttered in response to Meredith mentioning the "lack of utility" in her outfit. "Yeah, whatever, I'll take care of it! Ugh!" Useless. Everyone around her was useless. She was too good for this and she was quickly forgetting why she was still there. Perhaps there had never been a good reason to begin with.

But whatever. Bad things happened to good people all the time right? And right now, she was the only one who could bail all these losers out. It was hard being the responsible one, but she'd persevere.

She pulled out her cellphone and dialed in a number. The odds of them catching a regular cab right now were slim to none, so she'd special order one.

She soon got a service that ran late at night on the phone and gave them the address, "Yes, I know it's chaotic over here right now. That's why we're trying to leave! Yes, we can meet you across the street to be safe. Five minutes? Oh, thank you so much!" she said the words with the sweetest smile on her face, which rang through in her oh-so-polite voice. It was almost enough to give the illusion of flowers blooming around her. And then the call ended and all was back to normal. "Now either put your wings away and use the jacket or give it back! It's freaking cold out here!" The sun had been gone for quite a while after all. "And hurry up, I don't wanna be here when the police arrive!"

Without waiting to see what Meredith chose to do, she stormed off to where the cab would be picking them up.

Wolf could only bite his lip and offer a weak, "I'm sorry..." once Vera was out of earshot before slinking off after her. Now was the time to endure, not fight back, or at least that was what experience had taught him.

William Ascot, Gilgamesha Ascot (NPC) and Alexander Ascot

Alexander would return to where the group was, saying, "So, you're talking about cab fare to the Blackgate House? I can drive you guys there, if you want, as well as pay for another cab for the extra people."

He then looked at the others. "And yes, it was bad form for William to fall asleep just now. Don't comment on it."

But Alexander already saw that it was too late; Vera had already called a cab. He blinked at that and said, "So, it seems I can do nothing else for you people?"

Christine Abigail

Christine smiled back at Clara, happy to be at her service. She quickly put her attention back to the greater demon however, knowing that the fight was far from over.

"Oh, she's duplicating!" she noted as if she just found a rare curiosity on a shop. But when those duplicates suddenly warped towards their position, Christine rose her guard up once more. She quickly defended herself with her ability, creating a short range cold field around her that slowed down the movements of any clones that decided to attack her. One landed towards her and thanks to the cold aura, Christine easily dodged its punch, before countering with her own kick.

"Hey Chris, Rurik sent me to pick you up. Need a hand or a lift?"

Suddenly Thobias arrived, offering to Christine to pick her up. Before Christine could reply however, another clone decided to attack her. This time, Christine blocked its claw swing with her ice-covered arms. She quickly countered by grabbing the arm that had attacked her and from it, spreading her cold all through its body, freezing it solid as a result. And she finished it off by another kick to the torso, shattering it to pieces as a result. Naturally, she flashed her panties to Thobias in the process.

"Mmm, I'm fine, I think!" Christine replied to the boy with a smile. "These duplicates... they're definitely weaker than the actual deal."

The attacks had made Christine become separated from Clara and the others, which ended up a blessing as right afterwards, the leader trio was trapped inside a burning dome made of flames created by the demon.

"Clara!" Christine shouted, a worried look visible on her face. She tried using her power to cool down the flames but it wasn't enough. She tried firing off icicles and blew cold air towards it but the flames roared all the same.

She looked back at Thobias and said to him, "I'll try to use my full strength to douse this flame dome. I'll need you to cover me in the meantime. I'll need to focus, you see." Christine's face looked really serious, a rarity for a carefree girl like her.

Without waiting for his answer, she clapped her hands together on the front of her chest as she began to pray. Cold wind began to swirl around her, getting stronger and colder as the seconds went on. The wind made her coat flap wildly, freely revealing her black panties to the world. But she did not care in the slightest. She was praying as if she was the high priestess of the Goddess of Cold herself.

Indeed, she would create an arctic blizzard to erase said flames.

The Hellfire seal. An extremely powerful seal meant for punishing demons under their command, but used to great effect against whatever they happen to cross at a given point in time. It was made to render even demons who usually have good resistance to fire helpless. If the heat didn't get to them, the Hellfire Seal is a spell for capture and confinement before a spell used for combat.

"Dream eaters, heed my call!" Clara said.

From her book came surging waves of black worms, all around them eating up the flames before they could reach them. But the flames came from everywhere, above, each side, and below. For all the worms could eat, they could only eat in one direction each. They were bearing the brunt of the heat, and they too could die. However, for now it would serve as an effective shield for the trio inside.

"This cat isn't going to last too long under here," King said.

The cat he was holding was wide eyed and looking around the place. The heat was high, but bearable right now. As Clara's numbers thinned however, that would change quickly.

"My dream eaters can't destroy something of this calibre." Clara said. "They need time, but they'll be destroyed before they reach the boundary."

She had something stronger, in fact. Something she wanted to keep a secret far more than the dream eaters, but she had no choice.

"I need a hole," She continued. "I'll be able to do something if there's a gap in the seal. It's in the nature of the seal to be self-sufficient, so it'll repair itself automatically if there's a hole. If that happens I can siphon energy from the entire seal at once."

"A hole..." Alto said, gazing at the raging flames around them.

If he focused he could just about make out the sounds of battle outside. They needed to escape. The life of a student was on the line.

"...I think I have a way." He said.

Naseraph Sana and Bak Tsarevna
(Special Guests Samoth Maskono and Aram Secrue puppeted with his permission)

The Demon copy didn't stand still because it was in Nasearph's grasp. Its momentary inaction was only out of surprise, a surprise that was broken by Nasearph's shout. Even as Aram began to move it relived that its arms were not bound, and it raised them up. Magic seals traced themselves into the air in front of its palms and from them shot two white hot beams of heat. Naseraph wrenched back, digging his knee into the small of her back and pulling her wings, and though there was a crack as the demon was pulled off course the circles hung in the air where they had originally formed.

But as they flew at Aram they suddenly stopped in mid-air, held up by something invisible. Samoth was there, moving in Aram's shadow. By the time the beam hard burned through the psychic shield Aram had already moved, sidestepping the shield and coming into range of the demons exposed belly. He knelt and swung, the blade slicing through the air and across the hellspawns stomach, opening up a clean hole.

BING

He turned, beginning to swing the sword it a decapitating arc, but before the mighty BONG could ring out that was instead a disquieting sound like someone digging through a bag filled with grease. Aram let the sword drop to his side and just observed what was happening. Samoth either hadn't anticipated a second strike from Aram or hadn't wanted to waste time waiting for it. He had aimed for the hole and just shoved his arm all the way up inside its guts. Or, at least, what would have been its guts. It was strangely hollow inside this creature, solid all the way through and yet it felt like you were grasping at nothing. It was still hot though, brutally hot to the touch, and so distinctly wrong. Sick. It was like sticking your hand in a tub of fresh vomit.

Then the hellspawn, this copy of magic, fell to ash around his arm leaving only a pile of sooty dust and a smell of surfer in its wake. Though his arm was totally unblemished by the experience the wrongness pervaded it. It felt like it was going to take a while before it was clean again.

As the demon dissolved Naseraph fell with it, then without missing a beat turned back to gaze across the roof at the battle against the true demon.

The only demon left in the fight was getting battered, by bullets and explosions and void energy, but was holding fast. It would take more than toy guns and pop rocks to budge it, and though she could feel the energy of the void seeping into her arm and eating away at her defenses she knew no human could harness that power for very long. She would whether this storm, let them wear themselves out, and then when they thought her weak she would rise in fiery vengeance and gouge the fleeting hope from their hearts. Writhing in agony mere inches from their goal was the only proper way for a human to die.

That's what she thought before suffering the indignity of being attacked with one of her own duplicates, the force of the impact and the unexpected direction it came from surprising her enough that it broke her guard and sent her stumbling. She could faintly catch, through projectile storm that continued to pelt her, the figure that had thrust such an indignity upon her. A figure wreathed in flame. An antithesis. A rejection of her very being. Something that she could not abide.

With a snarl of rage she grabbed up the copy that had been tossed at her like garbage and dashed across the roof, out of the storm, toward her seal, and shoved the body into it. The seal accepted such a sacrifice and as the flames consumed the body they warped and twisted, coiling around one another and her arm. She pulled herself from the fire, and what came with her was a roiling mass of flame the size of a small car that blacked and deformed the arm that held it into near uselessness. She turned at the flaming figure and threw the entire thing.

As this mass of flaming evil spun toward her like the core of the Earth itself, Katherine could perceive its nature with a clarity that came from the depths of her soul. Faced with such absolute contrast there was no way for her not to see that there was a difference. A difference between this fire and hers. Hers was a fragment of the fire that burned at the heart of creation. Fire that burned for mankind. Fire could be unruly, this was true, but it could be used by humans when tamed. It provided them with hot food, warmed them against the cold, lit the night to reveal their dark enemies. It was a gift from on high, a tool for humans to use to fight back the night and thrive in the darkness. Even the flame that now pulsed through her being had welled up in order to protect someone she loved.

The ball that now filled her vision was not any of that. You couldn't use this to cook, or warm yourself, or light your way. The fire would eat your meal itself, the scalding heat would always find a way to burn you, the leaping flames would always find a way to escape and take everything you hold dear. This was fire stripped of its compassion, stripped of all things that impeded its ability to consume, destroy, and grow from it. It was only meant to destroy. It was fire that burned to destroy mankind, and had discarding its compassion for the sake of burning hotter and leaping higher to scorch the feet of the gods. It would consume Katherine, everything she was, down to the immortal soul and the spark of the divine that had been nestled within it.

Or at least it might have were it not for her sisters actions.

The cold wind whirled around Christine, growing stronger and stronger, battering the hellfire dome Clara and the others were trapped in, and as she prayed she felt something. A hand, cold. No, not cold. It was pleasant. Pleasantly cool, like the underside of a pillow. She felt another one, both of them resting on her shoulders, and somehow she felt a smile on a face she could not see and yet intimately knew. The wind whipped faster, grew colder, as she felt power pour into her. Frost formed on the concrete, melting and refreezing again as it battled with the evil heat, until an expanding layer of ice crawled across the roof and fell into the cracks and scars left by the battle.

But still it wasn't enough. She could feel herself approaching her absolute limit, cold flowing from her like it never had before, but that limit wasn't high enough. Her strength wasn't sufficient to channel enough cold to do anything but make the HellFire Seal waver in the wind. Her fervent prayer, however, to save even someone like Clara in the face of this hellspawn was enough to prompt at least a small miracle.

There was a cracking sound across the roof. The ice and the cold had nestled up to the hot stones of the roof, which had gotten progressively hotter as they absorbed the heat given off by the Seal. The ice that had filled in the wounds in the roof continued to melt and then re-freeze, growing larger and larger and putting more and more pressure on. Then, suddenly, with one last definitive shutter, the roof gave way. Centered on the Seal the room collapsed inward, opening up a sinkhole that rapidly spread out and dumped everyone onto the floor below, Katherine being carried out of the way of the fireball as it passed overhead and flew over the edge of the roof. The only places left standing from the destruction were Aram's extremely well fortified bunker, the door to the stairwell, and the area surrounding the two. Samoth, Aram, and Naseraph were left standing at the edge of a crater, looking down on the flattened floor below. Above them the Hellfire Seal still hung like the sun in the sky, held in place by its magic and shining its evil light onto the combatants below.

The floor they had landed in had been completely flattened by the rain of debris. Uneven rubble and ice where everywhere, which only heightened the glare of that horrid artificial sun by reflecting it. Kicked up dust and the mist of melting ice mixed together to shroud the area in a bloom of fog. Bak Tsarevna groggily pushed herself up of the ground, fortunate to have landed on her stomach this time. She was sick and tired of falling today, that was for sure. The air was hot in here, a result of the orb sitting on the roof heating the floor underneath it no doubt, and now thick with the sort of humidity that made you feel grimy. She looked around. Rurik and Yuuto were still near enough to see, and she could definitely make out the blazing form of Katherine. Then, she saw only because the movement was so fast as to leave a trail in the mist, she saw the demon making a mad sprint toward Katherine.

"Look out prisoner!" Bak screamed, popping open her missile pod and firing a full volley at where she thought the charging demon was. Again though, as though it could feel them coming, it back-dashed away from the missile as they came for it. The missiles tried to course correct but the turn they had to make was two tight. They sailed around the demon and impacted the far wall, exploding, One, TWO, THREE! Wait, three?

Bak grimaced in a panic as one of her own missiles, snatched out of the air as it tried to turn, tumbled out of the fog at her and, by extension, Yuuto and Rurik. The demon, for its part, had not even turned to look. It had thrown the missile as though discarding a piece of unwanted trash and resumed its charge as though it hadn't even broken stride. It wanted Katherine dead.

On his way up the building Gilliam had to stop and marvel as gigantic fireball sailed from the top of the building. He let go with one hand so he could turn and follow its descent down into the parking lot, where it dropped directly onto a limousine. There was a massive explosion as the car went up in flames that shot high into the sky and seemed, to him, to eye the world hungrily. Then they descended and set about consuming the limousine in ts entirety.

He watched, bemused, as the other limo observed this for a moment or two then as calmly as possible reversed out of the apartment parking lot and drove backwards all the way into the basketball court across the street.

"Better pick up the pace." he said to himself, redoubling his efforts.

The explosion sounded like the ringing of a boxing bell as the Demoness appeared out of the mist in beside of Katherine, a wary hate burning in its eyes. Streams of that same wicked fire traced the arc of its claw as it brought it across, toward her throat.

Kath barely had time to react to the attack. Even with her increased speed, the Demoness seemed like a faster combatant. She leaned back at the last moment, and the claws of the Demon cut a lock of Kath’s hair, missing their intended target. Damn, she’s fast Kath quickly dashed back several feet to put distance between herself and the Demoness. She wasn’t about to die today, and that meant fighting this foe. Even though she was craving for a hard fight all day, the sight of the Demoness brought no respite for Kath. This fight was going to be different from the others; one of them won’t leave the roof.

Kath braced herself, raising her clenched fists in front of her face in a defensive position and finding her footing in the loose rubble below. For now she’d try to dodge the attacks of the Demoness and look for an opening to exploit. Only then would she have a chance to mortally wound something that could survive Bak’s entire salvo.

Just a few moments prior, Rurik had been snapped out of his shock, awe, and pain by Bak shouting and the sounds of missiles being loosed. He tried to sit up, only to find his left arm pinned beneath a slab of concrete. That was bad. Worse was the fact that he then saw the demon almost casually toss one of the missiles back at them.

“Oh good…” He watched it careen closer, but then had a thought. If the demon could do it, so could he! He flattened himself to the ground as best he could and as the missile began to pass over him, his free hand lashed out and grabbed it. “Aha!” he sat up as best he could, ready to return the already returned favor-

BOOM!

-until he disappeared in a cloud of smoke, the missile detonating in his hand.

However, a few moments later, a familiar slab of concrete came hurtling out of the smoke, flying toward the Demoness. It was followed by a coughing Rurik. Fortunately, as painful as Bak’s missiles were, they still weren’t lethal. That said, he fell to a knee, hissing in pain. His hand was charred and bleeding and his arm was hanging somewhat limply by his side.

To say it would be sore in the morning would belie the fact that it really hurt right now.

“Rurik!” Bak said, stomping over to him with worry plastered all over her face. “Why in the world...why would you not deflect it? I know you can!” She looked down at him, then over at Yuuto, then turned back to the confrontation and placed herself like a wall between them and it.

The Demoness wasn’t paying any mind to them. She was sizing up Katherine, slowing stalking in a circle around her, probing for any sort of weakness. So when the huge rock flew out of the air towards her she only had enough time to raise her arm and catch it like a basketball.

The important bit, though, was that she had raised her arm to catch the falling stone. One arm. Singular. The other, charred back from hellfire and void energy, hung limply at her side not unlike Rurik’s was. The question was whether or not she could still defend herself with it. Was this opening real, or was she playing the wounded gazelle?

Kath watched closely as the Demoness circled around her. It looked like a terrifying predator that was about to leap on it’s prey. That was right until a large slab of concrete came flying towards the Demoness, forcing it to grab it with it’s free arm. Kath glanced to the side and noticed Rurik near the origin point of the projectile. She ground her teeth together and muttered something akin to “thank you” before pushing her momentary advantage. She blasted off from her position, rubble flying up behind her, and Kath dashed towards the Demoness to deliver her signature elbow strike.

The elbow caught the Demoness square in the stomach, spit and blood flying from between the remnants of its shattered teeth. But even then its eyes re-focussed. It gripped the rock, hard, and as it cracked orange fire ran through the crevices and seemed to cut apart the stone like some kind of heat saw. Scattered pieces rained down on Katherine as it brought its own hammer like fist down towards her.

Kath watched as the Demoness recoiled, spitting blood out of it’s mouth, but she wasn’t down yet. In fact, the demon seemed unfazed considering the strength of Kath’s punch, and it seemed even angrier now than before. Shit, now I’ve done it On the other hand, Kath definitely felt the impact of her own punch, her elbow sore from hitting the enemy. Not only that, but she felt the fire inside burn more and more fierce, threatening to consume her. She knew that there was not much time left before she’d reach her limit and pass out. That’s it, she needed to end this fight in the next few minutes.

The punch of the Demoness was well telegraphed by her shattering the concrete slab and then swinging her arm in a wide arc. Kath was ready to block the attack, and she raised her block when the fist of the Demoness came crashing down on her like a train wreck. The impact knocked the air out of her lungs and the concrete slab that she was standing on quite literally broke into a thousand pieces, but Kath was still standing. Just barely. Still, she had a big grin on her mouth. “Bad move.” She grappled onto the Demoness’s arm, and pulled it towards her with all her force, her hind leg ready to serve as the anvil in the “hammer and anvil”.

The Demoness took the knee in the chest, actually eliciting a gasp of pain from the beast. Then she responded with her own strike, which the Demoness answered, which Kath countered and so on and so on and on and on. All semblances of strategy or grace had been lost at this point, the fighting devolving into the two just throwing punch after punch like two boxers who were still going long after the last bell. Neither willing to give even an inch of ground to the other. There was something happening here. On a spiritual level matter and antimatter were colliding.

Cassius was used to taking a beating, mostly from himself to be honest, but even for him that last fall had taken a bit out of him. Finally though, he was able to drag himself to his feet. He sort of staggered about in a daze until the titanic confrontation nearby brought him to his senses.

He swallowed hard, not just because of the intimidating sight before him, but because he’d wandered into the Mephisto’s group. Well, he probably didn’t have to worry too much. Common enemy and all that? The truce was still in effect right?

“Errr, you guys OK?” Cassius asked, despite probably looking worse than them. Rurik just sort of looked at him and frowned. Taking a look at his messed up arm, Cassius supposed that had been a dumb question.

However, it was at that moment that Rurik had an idea. Or rather, he remembered something. He’d been formulating a plan before the entire roof had caved in, and if Cassius was here… then maybe.

“Hey, how is your reaction time?” Rurik asked him.

“Me?” Cassius took a moment to realize the boy was actually speaking to him. “Um, it’s good I guess.”

“Cool. It’s impossible to say which one of them is winning this, so we’re gonna have to turn the tide here. If Kath loses, I don’t know if we can win without her,” Rurik told him. “I figure she’ll hit just about anything we put in front of her, so we just need to set up a perfect target for her.”

“How?”

“Simple. Give it everything you got, but with one caveat,” Rurik took a deep breath. This would probably hurt. “Aim at me.”

“Wh-”

“So you've got the plan? Good. Time’s running out so be ready.” And with that, Rurik dashed off, skirting the edge of the fight. Fortunately the Demoness seemed to be totally absorbed in its punch fest with Katherine.

“B-but, but-” Cassius was totally lost.

Rurik slid into position behind the demon and immediately fired two blasts. Neither were particularly strong. One was aimed at the demon’s back, just to aggravate her. The other was even weaker, aimed at Cassius.

Cassius felt the bolt ping off of his shoulder and just sighed. He had no idea what was going on, but one thing was clear. He needed to attack, and that was his signal.

He got a running start, the air distorting and crackling around his legs, “INCOMING!” he shouted, more for Katherine’s benefit before he launched himself. The entire space took on an orange tint as the explosion propelled him forward like a blazing spear, aimed to go right through the Demoness.

First a strike to her back, and then suddenly an intruder spewing nearly as much fire as her opponent. She pulled back just a bit, lifting her arm to block Katherine’s next attack rather than wind up a reply. She threw Kath’s punch aside, momentarily bringing the fight to a halt just long enough to dodge Cassius’s rush. She leapt into the air, spreading her one wing and forging a temporary second out of flames, letting her hover as the attack passed beneath.

At that same moment, Rurik knelt down and deployed his shield with his left hand, right arm still feeling a bit useless. And then, finally, Cassius understood. He’d made sure his attack would be on course for Rurik if the demon dodge, and indeed she had. It made sense, no way was she going to be caught off guard by such a flashy entrance. But this?

He twisted midair and planted both feet on the shield, once more taking aim, and he was all warmed up this time. He could even feel Rurik adjusting the shield to keep him on target. Compared to the cold start he’d just had a second ago, this take-off rocked the whole building. He flew forward with such fury, it surprised even himself. Something about the shield had doubled his speed.

Uh oh… He didn’t even have time to line up his punch properly! He ended up corkscrewing through the air and throwing an uppercut. The blast sent the Demoness up, up and away… from Katherine.

Rurik, meanwhile, had lost control of his shield and been totally flattened by Cassius’s launch. He was left there, making a sound much like a slowly deflating balloon. Looking up into the air, though, he had a perfect view of his plan totally falling apart. Unless…

He sputtered at first, but he managed to get out two words that just might be able to salvage everything, “THOBIAS! ELEVATOR!” If Thobias was buried under a pile of rubble, he was screwed. If not…

And then the next thing he knew he was in mid-air, above even the Demoness. He barely had time to process the fact that Thobias had heard him.

The Demoness, for her part, had almost no idea what was happening. There was pain, and then suddenly she was just...in the air for some reason. And there, right there, outlined between her and the Hellfire Seal, was a boy. He was up here, above her. Some stupid, insignificant boy.

She let out the roar of a crazed animal, all grace and pomp gone from her now. She was a beast. A great enemy of mankind, and there was a man right in front of her. She quickly gripped her broken arm with her good one and, with one motion and a spray of blood, tore it clean off her shoulder. This stump, this worthless appendage, still had a few small embers of the Seal burning upon it. She let out another scream, this one of wild agony, as she willed them to spread. The embers flared to life, the fire shooting up and consuming the arm as a sacrifice as it grew longer and longer, until what she held in her good arm was a sword made of that same destroying flame that would have overwhelmed Katherine. Unthinking the Demoness drew back her arm and made to swat the boy from the air with it.

The strike didn’t come, however. She there was a resistance on her arm. She looked down and saw it in the grip of a pair of thick, meaty tentacles. She followed them back to see them sprouting from some...creature...that was perched on the side of the building, grinning at her. She was about to pull through anyway, to rip these foul things from whatever vile orifices they sprang from when she felt to impacts in her back, and an explosion that rocked her body and disrupted her already floundering conversation.

From down below Bak looked up, the two barrels of her cannons smoking in the breeze. She cupped her heads around her mouth and shouted “Hit her!”

Rurik looked down at the screaming Demoness and willed his aching arm to obey and thrust both hands forward. He channeled all his energy into one point, immediately overloading it and turning it unstable.

“SHUT UP!” he shouted at the creature and with a sound like the crack of thunder, blasted her straight back down toward Katherine down below.

Kath watched as his opponent was sent flying upwards by Cassius. She smirked, the sight of her firebuddy participating in the fight bringing a strange sense of joy along with it. Now that he had a moment of respite, Kath caught herself staggered, and almost fell over as his head began to spin like some kinda wild merry-go-round. She clenched her fist and closed her eyes to regain her senses, and then looked up to see the Demoness already flying back towards her, propelled by Rurik’s attacks. Just a little bit more Katherine, you can do this The fire inside burned like a blazing inferno, consuming her body. Every bone and muscle was sore inside her body, and she was taking heavy breaths.

Still, Kath readied to receive the Demoness and put her out of her misery with a final attack. A haymaker to be remembered for the ages. Kath’s right shoulder moved back as she readied the punch, her eyes clashing with that of the Demoness. It felt like the air between the two was about to self combust, but the moment only lasted a few seconds. The Demoness was falling at tremendous speeds, and Kath launched her attack in advance. She put her weight into the punch, hoping to end the fight with this one hit and then have time to GTFO before passing out. But as her fist connected with the face of the Demoness, she felt no resistance. In front of Kath’s very eyes, the body of the demon turned to the same dark substance that made up the copies, and her fist went straight through this cloud of black miasma.

Before Kath had time to react, the cloud of black material began seeping into her body through her skin, stopping her in place. The edges of her vision quickly faded to black as the material absorbed itself into her body near instantly. The last thing that she remembered was her hitting the ground and the world turning black. Then Kath passed out, her eyes turning black.

Kath awoke lying on the ground in a familiar landscape. She knew instantly where she was when she didn’t feel pain as she sat up. Oh great, this place again As she looked around, trying to find the familiar images or the faraway light, she noticed that the land changed. Around her body was an aura of light that lit up the place in a small radius around her, revealing the floor to be made out of some material similar to plastic. But beyond this light, the same black stuff that was released by the Demoness oozed around in a chaotic manner. When she moved, the ooze moved away from her path, but reclaimed the place she left. Kath was soon overcome by anxiety strolled around this nightmarish landscape, looking for someone; or something.

“There’s no reason to be so skittish, human.” came an inviting voice from behind her. Suddenly, from behind her the landscape blazed to life. Visible, sitting amid the vile mud that coated the floor was the tattered, broken Demoness. She was in much the same state as she had been in the real world, he finery reduced to rags and he numerous wounds leaking the black gunk that spilled onto the floor. The defiant, prideful look she had born during the fighting was gone, and as she spoke it seemed as though her face grew gaunter and gaunter. Around her blazed fire, but not hers. Kath could recognize this fire anywhere. It had been with her all her life. As the gunk hit the edges of the blaze it dissolved into an acrid smoke that, just as quickly, disappeared in a shower of sparks above their heads. “As you can see your master is very careful when it comes to parasites infesting their pets.” She spit into the fire which was steadily inching its way closer to her, the black gunk and bit of tooth dissolving like all the rest. “It’s a shame. We could have been so beautiful together.”

Kath was suspicious of the Demoness, but seeing her in this imprisoned state gave her the strength to reply in a more forceful manner. She swung her arm to the side dismissively, refusing to listen to the demon any longer. “I have no master.” Kath walked closer to the Demoness, not afraid of the chained beast anymore. They looked eye to eye now, the same tensions present as before, but with a much weaker foe. “We? There was never a we. You’re just some hellspawn who attacked my sister, and nothing more.” But the realization hit Kath just as soon as she ushered the words.

If they were inside her head, doesn’t that mean that the Demoness is inside her now? Maybe her own body wasn’t her own anymore. If this seeping black goo everywhere was a sign of anything, then she had just received a new roommate in her head. She turned to the Demoness, confused, unsure if asking a hellspawn deviant was the best way to receive answers. “Wait, you say together. What do you mean? Are you in my head now?”

“For the time being.” She replied as the ring slowly tightened. “This was, unfortunately, a move of desperation. I was dying, and so I sought shelter. At least, for a short while. You need only wait until your fire consumes me.” She smiled. “Of course, I don’t see any reason why we can’t get to know one another in the meantime. As a being a smoke and fire I must compliment you on the brightness of your flame, even if it is accursed. Why, even were I to face you alone, I can envision you putting up a valiant struggle. Of course, you would have been consumed in the end. Your flame couldn't ever hope to compare to mine in sheer power. But then, you’ve already realized that. I can tell.”

Kath took another step forward, stopping within an arm’s reach of the Demoness. “Pfft, babble all you want. My mouth wouldn’t be so big if I were in your place.” Kath reached out with her right hand, touching the face of the Demoness. She felt the black ooze attempt to grab hold of her, but it skittered away from her light. “And now, to teach you some respect.” Kath’s palm went up in flames, and a sizzling place accompanied the quiet roaring of the demon’s shackles. When Kath removed her hand, her palm left behind a burn mark on the face of the Demoness, the wound untouched by the black ooze. “We’ll be seeing each other.” With that Kath turned away from the Demoness with a smirk on her face, leaving it to waste away in her fiery shackles.

The Demoness, for her part, just laughed mournfully as the burn stung her face. “Hotter.” She whispered as Kath left, more to herself than anyone. “You could burn so much hotter.”

Still, there was one thing that was apparent. The flames had stopped advancing. And as they did, so did Kath.

Kath suddenly sprung to life, gasping for air. She yet again felt her aching body burn away as she lied amidst the rubble of the battlefield, surrounded by Cassius and Christine on either side. Their faces were filled with worry even as she sat up, her head still spinning and aching. She turned to Christine, and forced a smile on her face. She spoke up in a quiet and broken voice, but her usual bossy tone was still there. “Hey, turn that frown upside down sis. I’m fine.” She turned to Cassius, her neck hurting as she did. “Really, don’t worry I’m fine. I’m fiii-uhhhh.” The word seemed to take a sudden spin as she fell back on the floor, her vision fading away yet again. But this time she felt her power seeping away as well, the fire inside consuming the last of her stamina. Great, I wake up to pass out again With that Kath passed out. Again.

Thobias broke the silence of the others with a loud sigh an shook his head. “Great. Stand fast Cass, she’s gonna turn back to being completely naked.” He gestured towards Christine, before taking a 180 turn and disappearing through a freshly made portal.

Cassius had been, and was still, very confused. He’d skidded almost face-first to a halt next to Katherine, only to see her apparently vaporize the demon and then collapse while still on fire. And then she’d woken up. And then she’d un-woken up.

“Wh- naked!?” Oh right, she had that issue. Indeed, as she powered down her lack of clothing became more and more of an issue. He quickly whipped off his charred and filthy jacket and threw it over her before someone could see… it wasn’t quite big enough for her whole body but it was better than nothing.

As Cassius covered up Kath’s cooling body, which was looking more and more like her instead of some fire demon that loosely resembles Kath’s shape, Thobias came back with a batch of clothing in his arms. Women’s clothing. A St Laurels school uniform, complemented with underwear and bras. It was gleamingly suspicious that he managed to get them in such little time, so he immediately turned to Christine to clear any misunderstanding.

“Here, take these and try to dress your sis before everyone gets here.” He turned back to Cass and then pulled him away from Kath. Not too far, just enough to give Chris some space. Then he noticed the still confused faces of Christine and Cassius. Maybe he didn’t explain himself that well after all. “Yes, It’s Kath’s school uniform. And yes, I may or may not have taken it from her wardrobe.” He finished, but then he added before it could turn awkward. “It’s better than the alternatives, isn’t it?”

Meanwhile, Rurik had not planned for one thing. Thobias had used a portal, meaning he was then stuck in free-fall once he was done. Fortunately, he supposed, a tentacle from Gilliam had managed to gently lower him to the ground. Adrenaline had kept teleportation from emptying his stomach, again, but Gilliam touching him with such an otherworldly appendage had ruined all that.

“Th-thanks…” he swallowed nervously. He then walked stiffly over to where Bak was and promptly sat down, wrapping his arms around his knees. For a moment, silence reigned as he stared blankly off into space. Everything that had happened and that he had done slowly sank in.

“I… I think I’d like to-” he hiccuped as he tried to keep his stomach in order, “-go home now…” Rurik finally spoke.

For a moment Bak had no idea what to say. She looked at him, dumbfounded, as million things raced through her head; the mission wasn’t over yet, they still hadn’t found Vittorio, Clara had gone somewhere while she was loopy, what had happened with that demon, now that the demon was dead wasn’t the truce over, who are you and what did you do with that slacker that I know, why did you choose today to be so heroic what is special about it, why did you get so hurt, why did every plan you have seem to involve you getting hurt, why did you step in front of me, why did you let me hurt you so badly….

Questions, admonishments, followed by more questions. In the end she couldn't seem to manage to put any of it into words, so she didn’t bother trying. Instead, with a metallic squeal and a light crunch, she sat down next to him. “So would I.” She said, staring down at her own clawed toes, her voice hollow. She realized instantly that that wasn’t good enough. That was no sort of thing to say. She dug around in the recesses of her mind for something. Finally she found it, from her days watching the sheep back home. It was the only praise her father ever had for her.

“Rurik?” She said, looking over at him. She waited, expectantly, for him to look up.

“Eh?” And so he did, still looking half out of it.

She reached over and placed a hand on his shoulder, looking him in the eyes just like her father used to do for her. “Excellent work, Rurik. You did very well today. Sleep up. I will carry on from here.”

Michael Angie

"Amusing" was Michael's first impression of Gilgamesha. She sounded like she had much to tell about the Ascot family, among other things. He wondered how much information he could get out of her. Before he could finish follow that train of thought, however, William came over and promptly fainted. Michael looked over at him for a second, slightly concerned, then determined that he was fine and left him alone.

As Alexander went off to drop William off, Michael returned his attention to Gilgamesha and began to ask her some questions. As he was about to, though, he was hit with a sudden urge to yawn. Michael's mind began to feel a little foggy; perhaps it was his exhaustion finally catching up to him. "I'd love to chat some more, but I think it's about time I got some rest myself. Need to tend to some injuries of mine, too," Michael said to Gilgamesha. "That being said, though, I could do with a ride home."

Meredith simply raised an eyebrow at Andras' comment before handing back Vera's jacket and putting it in her shoulders with just enough restraint to not knock her down to the ground forcefully. She really was getting tired? Wellspring of energy? That brought some real unpleasant memories of how utterly inhuman had her early years been, with a demonic mother intent of sacrificing her to obtain power. Meredith's wings slipped back into her body as she eyed the other people gathered around. "We'll be okay, mrs Ascott, thank you." She added as she entered the taxi, grabbing her sister by the nape of her neck as the brat flailed furiously in a pathetic attempt of resistance, before being unceremoniously shoved in the luxurious vehicle Vera had summoned. Meredith was getting really tired, so she barely registered Vera's obvious cranky words and Wolf's apology.

As best as she could, she gave directions to the driver to drop the entire collective home. They were greeted by the same wealthy house look, and the same figure that seemed out of an erotic magazine, dressed in naught but a night dress. "My my, you truly are my daughter Meredith. You do not bring one, but two boys in the same night. And a girl as well. Trying to teach my cute little demon jewel the art of night hunting? However, I do think this one is a bit haggard, despite being a son of who he is...he does have a tick attached. Sho shoo, little tick. Go away." The demoness went through a bunch of varied expressions as if she was a skilled actress, from praise to her firstborn, to some tender remarks to her second born, and finishing by being utterly dismissive of Vera. It was when something caught the Demoness's eye inside house, and some audible rumbling like a boulder was heard inside. A man's voice, muffled. "You're too kind Victor. Some people ought to be taught their places. Ah well. Guest room it is." . Nyxdaemona deftly picked up a key and spun it it deftly before handing it to Meredith. "You heard your father, get these two to the guest room, the ...eyepatch lady and the tick. I think it will suffice.". The demoness added as she once again left the doorframe, and allowed the guests to seep in. Meredith on her part, was rather tired, so tired because of the trip and the magic that she was barely making coherent words by now.

"Lessee,we have three guests and two more beds, so how do we do this..." Meredith ruminated visiblely tired.I think I am forgetting something but I am too tired... well, tomorrow is a new day. She added as she begun to trace the steps to the rooms, her shoulders slumping. Anna had somehow managed to stay silent throught the entire interchange, deciding to walk inside the house instead of fluttering about, a sign that she was getting tired and cranky.

"Well I suppose I'll share the bed with Wolf then." She said, almost stealthily.

Gilliam Dewitt

No sooner had Bak started to push herself gingerly to her feet than a hand snaked down from the wall to gently hold her down. "You will do nothing of the sort, Mistress Bak." Said Gilliam as he climbed on four spider like appendages down the wall, his arm reeling in like fishing twine as he descended. As he stepped off the wall and surveyed the extensive damage that surrounded them he scowled, an expression that only deepened as he approached and saw the dreadful state Rurik and Bak had been left in. He had not only arrived to late to take part in what was obviously a grand battle, but his masters had appeared as though they had taken the brunt of the damage. He bent to examine Rurik's arm more thoroughly. For as much distaste he had of the man the nursemaid would be a windfall to have around right now, though Gilliam couldn't help but but be amused at the thought of him dealing with a post defeat Vittorio right now.

He looked over his shoulder at the other gathering of people on this newly exposed floor, surrounding the girl that had...devoured the demon in the end. Devoured? Yes, Gilliam couldn't think of any other term for it. He almost got distracted by the thought of what she must have tasted like, all thoroughly tenderized and burnt as she was, but pulled himself back due to the seriousness of the situation. He saw Christine over with them, so they obviously weren't fighting one another. Still, it never hurt to be on guard.

He stood up and bowed to Bak and Rurik. "My deepest and most sincere apologies for my belated arrival. I'm afraid I was held up aiding Master Twinveil on the first floo-"

"You found Vittorio? Is he alright?" Bak asked excitedly.

"He has already departed from this place. I can assure you, he is of sound a body as ever and is presumably expecting our arrival at any moment in the club room."

Bak let out a deep breath, a little of the worry leaving her body.

"Don't bother expending what's left of your energy. Allow me to make up for my lackluster performance on this mission by handling things from here on out. Now, if you could direct me to Clara..."

Bak felt the worry flow right back in. She hadn't really seen what had happened to Clara in between sessions of becoming the worlds heaviest pinball. She'd just assumed that Clara was around somewhere, but her own look around the roof that proved not to be the case.

Where was Clara?

Wolfram & Vera

Vera noticed what Mona tried to pull, leaving Wolf open for Meredith to grab. Vera wasn't all that concerned, though. Meredith knew better, and if she didn't, Wolf did. Of course, it didn't hurt to send a message to anyone who might be having... thoughts.

"Hey," she spoke to Wolf who turned to her attentively. "Just in case you were thinking I didn't notice you got hit by a car for me, well, I suppose you did well enough tonight."

"Oh, uhh, tha-"

"And I guess you've earned something." With that, she grabbed his face and pulled him into a deep, passionate kiss. Far too much so, considering they had witnesses. And it lasted just long enough to be weird for them. Finally, though, she did pull away from a rather bewildered Wolf. She stuck her tongue out tauntingly at Meredith before shoving Wolf away. "Good night." She then grabbed Ana firmly by the shoulder and guided her away. "Nice try, but you're about ten years too young to try and steal a man away from me. Be a good girl, though, and maybe I'll teach you something... and you'd better not squirm in your sleep."

Anna was a pest, but she was a pest that Vera could get along with... usually.

Wolf meanwhile, just stood there, still stunned. It wasn't the first time she'd done that. In fact, she always did the same thing. A sudden kiss, usually after Wolf had in some way demeaned himself in order to unwittingly earn it, and then he'd be pushed away and left there before he could ever think of trying to kiss back or even understand what had happened.

He just averted his gaze from everyone, suddenly finding the floor to be riveting, face burning red. He managed to stutter out, "I-I'm... good... wherever..." It wasn't like anyone would be sleeping naked, after all. Right? He'd had plenty of sleepovers with Meredith as a child and Andras and him weren't strangers. So long as he and whatever roommate he ended up with weren't literally in the same bed, it probably wouldn't be too weird.

Vittorio

A dream of nightmares.

"Darkness. The ever present looming darkness. How vast and unknown it may be to most, yet to someone like me. Vittorio. It is all I've known for two years." Vittorio looked around but he was not in his bed, nor was he in his astral form. He looked at his hands which were illuminated now by a light. He approached it and there was a pool of water.

Vittorio leaned down and got to his knees, he began to loom over the water to look at it. Seeing his own reflection in the water, the face he wore was the one he had while bedridden. Time had been cruel on him, but it was his own fault. He did not take enough care for his physical body, all that he now cared about which was left in the world was revenge.

Justice. That was what he wanted most of all things. The reflection in the water began to flicker and the face began to twist and turn, causing glowing wicked eyes and a wide grin to spread across his reflection. Vittorio quickly got to his feet and looked away from the pool.

"No.. I will not become a monster! I will not harm those who had nothing to do with it! I did not mean to- It's because of Alto!" He turned and saw shadowy figures around him, the first three approaching began to reveal their faces to him. They were Geon, Billy and Carus.

"Vitto, my man. What's wrong? Why haven't you joined us yet? What's taking you so long?" Geon leaned against Billy as he pointed to Vittorio with his other arm.

"Geon... I gave my word.. I would avenge all of you.. I cannot go back... I cannot go forwards... I need to end it all." Another set of voices could be heard and two taller individuals stepped out of the dark. They were his parents.

"Vittorio my son, don't lose faith. You will make us proud. Keep working hard and don't give up." The voice of his father, which he had not heard for a long time. But he could remember it in his memories.

"We will always be here to support you. Me and your father. We love you." The comforting voice of his mother, whom like his father worked hard under the higher ups in the society. Those who had the power. Then there were those who did not have any power at all.

"I love you too... father... mother... that's why I will never give up. Ever." He could hear the sound of his tears hitting the ground below him, the ground was in fact water. Each tear making a clinging sound and out of the shadows she stepped forth. Charlotte. The girl which he wanted to confess to. She alongside the others were the ones which brightened his days.

"What's the matter Vittorio? Wipe that gloomy look off your face this instant! You are not going to look gloomy like that while walking next to a lady are you?" Charlotte had smiled and closed her eyes, giving him a teasing look on her face followed by a giggle. The girl began to sing a beautiful song, which melody could still any beast or urge to fight.

"It's a melody, I hear in my memory... Can we be reborn in the wake of a storm, so that I can tell you the words of my heart? Do sing along, and may your tale live on."

"Charlotte! I never had the chance to... I wanted to tell you.. I wanted to ask you... but..." His words were cut short as a tall imposing figure stepped out of the darkness and consumed all the other figures.

"I took them all away. Gah hah hah. Because you were too weak! Alto led them to their death and you let it happen because of your weakness." The tall figure laughed, it's cruel laughter echoing all around. He could see the light gather around him, the rage seething. And out of the dark a light would appear, a false light a wicked light. Alto.

"Vittorio, you are such a fool. I do not care about what ants I have to step upon on my way to the top." Alto smirked.

"Charlotte, my heaven queen, cover me in all that which is true. This foolish boy, such a petty ploy. You will be dead to the world! Heaven queen, carry me away from all pain! All the same take me away! I am dead to the world!!!" He flew forth and drove his tentacles of light into Alto, piercing his chest. His eyes stung and he grit his teeth as he gazed into Alto's eyes.

Alto's face began to change to take on the shape of himself. Vittorio stepped back and the tentacle like wings removed itself from the body of his foe. "Monster. You are a monster. I am a monster. You will kill them all. I will lead everyone to their dying day." He noticed a couple of more shadows step forwards.

"Murderer! You have broken the law!" The voice of Alexander would echo forwards, followed by the voice of Katherine. "Get out of the way monster! You don't belong with us!".

He held his head and looked at the others approaching. "You sit idly by while someone defiles your dear ones. Such a wicked beast you are Vittorio." The arrogant voice of Galbrek would mock him.

"I will take good care of you Vittorio. Because I have to. Not because I want to. You are just a tool." Celestine would say reassuringly.

"Vittorio, I cannot defeat Alto alone. Help me. Help me!" The voice of Gilliam would reach him.

"Nooooo!" He could hear Bak screaming and then evil laughter as he saw Samoth standing over her body and stomping on her back. Then he saw something in the corner of his eye. It was Alto again, now he was holding unto something.

"What hope do you have to stop me. You cannot kill an ancient evil. You are not strong enough. You were never strong enough. You being here is a mistake!" Alto's shape changed into that of the monster who killed all dear to him.

"You are both the same! Hiding behind masks of dark and light! I... am not like you at all! I will... I will defeat you. This time for certain! With divine providence!"

"Mother! Father! Charlotte! Geon! Everyone! Give me the power! Haaaaaaaaaaaah!" He could feel the watery surface under him vibrating and begin to break until it finally shattered.

Darkness.

Then light.

A blurred view. He was awake. Back in his grave. Where his caretaker was the first thing he saw, alongside a woman with an odd look about her and a missing arm.

"Charlotte..." Vittorio spoke in a hushed tone to himself more than anyone else.

What am I doing? Something had... William. Necromancer. My dear ones!

Vittorio's eyes flung full open and he grasped the bed before he let out a scream.

"Wil- Where the hell is William!?" He screamed out in a rough and loud voice, it could also be heard that something in his throat must have taken abit of damage from his loud yell as he coughed after.

He grit his teeth. He was angry beyond containment. It was anger. Revenge. Justice which powered him. He slid his legs to the side of the bed and grabbed one of the metal bars holding up some life sustaining vitamins in water for him, using it as a makeshift cane, he pushed himself off the bed with a pained expression and on unsteady steps moved over in his white hospital gown towards Celestine. He had wrinkles inbetween his eyes and his eyebrows were twitching. "Where... is... he?"

William Ascot

As he slept, William Ascot's dreams took a dark turn. His unprecedented exhaustion pulled him down, down a deep dark abyss that was water and void at the same time; distinctions erased themselves in dream-land. For a time, the sensation of falling was what governed the boy's senses, and he screamed soundlessly into the sea/void/wind. The pull of sleep granted no solace, no rest...why?

The moment he asked that was the moment the falling stopped, and the sixteen-year old opened his eyes wide. He was now standing on a grassy plain, a grassy plain dotted with gravestones every few places. Before him stood a figure that for one second seemed to be Vera, the next, Vittorio.

A look to his right and Galbrek stood to flank him, to his left, Andras stood silently, her curiosity evident on her face. The shadow of Wolf, now in armor, can be seen behind the boy, and it was the Knight that said, "You have some questions to answer."

"Indeed you do," the figure in front of him now wore Vittorio's guise, but used a masculine version of Vera's voice, made thicker and crisper to fit the body of the young man, whose image Ascot only knew from pictures. "William. You never answered why I, Vittorio, am more important than any person in Rhea. Why you'd break the laws of life and death, and make enemies of people you barely know, just for someone you've only read about, talked about, someone you also don't know."

William closed his eyes, and said, "My reasoning evolves with every passing moment, but right now, it's because you suffered more than anyone else in Rhea. You lost your friends, your family, all in one day. You knew happiness and lost it, and now, you fight among the outcasts of the world, pursuing a revenge against someone beloved by many, and thus brings you the hatred of most." Even in his dreams, William could not say aloud that he believed Alto was innocent. "No one cares for you anymore; that's my impression."

The Vittorio/Vera figure raised his fist as if to strike a blow, before William added, "And that isn't right! You deserve to have someone care!"

In his dream, he had more than his ramshackle collection of copied powers, he had more than a small amount of support abilities. In William Ascot's dream, the scabbard called Avalon appeared over him, glowing like a Reverse-Sword of Damocles. The boy siezed the moment to say, "I know our meeting will be different from this dream, so I will say this now - I want people to care about you. Not about how you can be used as a tool and not about how you are their enemy, but about you, as a person. I want someone to care about that; I want to care about that. What life is it when people think you are nothing to them?!"

Tears, reflected in the real world. "I can't live like that, yet you already are -"

The field vanished, Vera/Vittorio vanished. The other figures disappeared as well, leaving Ascot alone in the dark. Or so he thought, as he felt spectral arms (Green?) clasping around his throat, squeezing it tight. Vittorio appeared once more in front of the boy, only this time, he spoke with Galbrek's voice. "You think you know what it is to care?! You think you know what it is to show compassion?! Hubris! Your pride is all that drives you, don't dress it up! I refuse all of your gifts, I refuse all of your offers. The path of revenge is mine!"

He felt it, the sensation of tears on his cheek as all turned to darkness again.

Gilgamesha Ascot (NPC) and Alexander Ascot

Alexander smiled, "All right, Michael, a drive home. Thanks for everything; I'll repay my debts soon."

And with that, he gestured the young man and Gilgamesha to his car, where William already was.

Andras

Andras averted her eyes as Vera kissed Wolf. 'W-Why is everyone being so forward with each other around me?!' Her mind protested silently.

Andras turned to Wolf after Vera carried off the impish child. "Well, I wasn't planning on sleeping yet, but maybe we should take the open room?" Andras tried her best to act cool, but she was apprehensive about it all as she walked to the spare bedroom.

They were friends, of course, but Andras didn't have any night clothing on her and she didn't want to sleep in her hoodie and skirt. Actually, more importantly, she didn't want to sleep at all yet. She usually waited to sleep when the light of morning began to creep into the sky... When the darkness began to retreat. That time of day provided the perfect synthesis of Light and Dark that Andras believed to help her power grow. Or something like that.

'I can just pass time on my phone until I get tired.' She cast a sideways glance at Wolf. 'Plus it wouldn't give him the chance to peek at me if he's already asleep when I get in bed.'

Andras sat on the bed without really showing an interest in sleeping, pulling out her phone. Something red showed in her peripheral vision as she browsed her phone. It took a few moments for her smile to fade as she realized her phone's battery was in the red. "Oh no. My phone's dead." Her voice came out probably too dramatic for the subject matter being discussed.

But to her, this was a crisis. She bit her lip. 'What will I do for the next few hours? I'm wide awake! I'll have to be quiet for Wolf too...' She held her head in her hands, hoping for a solution to come to her.

Christine Abigail

Christine soon realized that her power was not enough to combat the hellfire flames the demon had created. Tried as she might, her cold was just simply not cold enough to overwhelm it. Those flames were no ordinary flames for sure.

Even so, she refused to give up. If she could at least weaken the demon, it would be good enough for her. She couldn't really see it as she was concentrating her entire strength on her blizzard, but she knew that her sister Katherine was fighting the demon right now, so she had to try her best as well.

Eventually however, the burning flames suddenly died down, and not because of her own ability. It was as if it just lost its strength all of a sudden.

Just in time before she exhausted every inch of her power.

Christine fell on her knees as she panted. Her heart was beating rapidly and she could feel sweat all over her body.

"It has been a long time since I went all out like this..." she said to herself. Even in her mock fights with her sister, she wouldn't go all out as she could end up freezing the surrounding forest near their home, though most of the time, she ended up using her cooling power in a wide area anyways since Kath would burn the trees and bushes with her power.

She then remembered something. She had to go look for Kath! She had won against the demoness, right?

She quickly rose up though her feet still wobbled, and searched for her surroundings for any signs of her sister. The fighting seemed to have died down indeed.

Thankfully, she managed to find her sister lying amidst the rubble in the battlefield. She quickly went to her location, along with Cassius, and crouched down to check on her condition.

"Oh, you're alright, sis!" she said with a relieved smile as she saw Kath regaining her consciousness. She began to sniffle a bit as the relief nearly made her cry in happiness.

"O-oh no!" Christine said when Kath suddenly fell down again. "Sis! Sis!" she said as she shook her body, ignoring her still hot skin as her own cooling ability counteracted it. She soon realized she had fallen unconscious once again.

"A-ah, right," Christine said to Thobias who reminded them of Kath's lack of clothes. She was currently looking like a flaming fire demon which covered all her naughty bits but the fire was dimming away and soon enough, everyone would be able to see that her clothes had burned into nothingness entirely.

"I-I'll use my coat to cover her up!" Christine quickly declared as she began lifting her winter coat. Thankfully, Cassius got there first as he threw his charred and filthy jacket on top of Kath's body, though Christine had already lifted her clothes far enough to reveal her panties and a little of her underboobs. Indeed, she wasn't wearing any bra underneath her coat. She felt her coat was already soft enough not to irritate her two sensitive spot.

She quickly pulled her coat back down, blushing as she realized her action wasn't needed at all.

Thobias soon returned, bringing what looked like the female uniform of St Laurels, complete with a pair of panties and bras. Christine looked at him in suspicion but he quickly prevented any misunderstandings by telling her to dress up her sister for it. Christine still didn't like how he might have gotten it from her own wardrobe (giving a suspicious glare at the boy) but it really was better than her being naked.

"Alright. You two, look away please," she said to Cassius and Thobias. She then immediately began her work. She started by cooling down any remaining heat on her body, before sliding her panties up her legs and fastening her bra (Hmm, have she gotten bigger?). After that, the skirt and the shirt.

"All done!" Christine declared when she finished. Now Kath wouldn't have to suffer embarrassment from waking up while naked anymore.

Welcome, to the Beginning.

Alto's power was the power of light, but to call the thing he used light was not accurate, or at least within the current understanding of light. The easiest example of this was his Blade of Light. If you think about using light to cut something, you would normally think about lasers which use concentrated light to cut through things. The concentrated light has enough heat energy to melt through the material rather than cutting it.

Alto's power had been a source of fascination because it was 'true' cutting power. A clean separation of the two sides of whatever he cut, though there was some burning involved, but not the same as a laser would be. There was less burn, since a laser tended to burn out your nerves as it cut through and generally delivered more pain for a shorter time, whereas the pain from the Blade of Light lingered.

This wasn't normal light, it was something else. The possibilities of such a power were almost endless, and this was one such way of using it.

When creating the Blade of Light, he usually gathered 'light' in his palm and it would take the shape he wished it to, but now he shifted it to the tip of his finger. Next was to build the power. It would take much more than the Blade of Light to pierce the Hellfire Seal, and it needed to be focused on a single point.

He could feel the tension as he reigned in the power. As it hit fever pitch, he unleashed it.

There was a small flash, and a thin stream of light burst out from his finger tip. It burst the wall of the Hellfire Seal like a rotten eggshell. However, there was no floor. It seems outside of the seal the battle had been continuing... and had finished. There were only the dying flames of the battle and a cluster of students in the middle of it all.

It wasn't too great of a drop considering the seal had been on ground level of the rooftop. From above, the final missing student wafted down while still inside the bubble. It floated towards Alto and popped while it was right above him. The student dropped into his arms.

She was still wearing the St. Laurel's uniform, and she had short, curly blond hair. For a moment he thought he felt something flicker across his awareness when he looked at her sleeping face. He knew who this student was, but the feeling was something else. There would be time to find out what it was later, however. They'd be able to find out whatever it was with the latest in medical and magical detection.

These students had been under the influence of a Greater Demon, there was no telling what kind of influence it was.

"I guess we're about done here, then?" King said, fishing out a water bottle from somewhere under his cape. It was most likely warm, but if you're dehydrated you need any water you can get. He opened the cap and let the cat who was still in his arms take small sips until it mewed happily back at him.

"I suppose we are." Clara said, appearing a bit disgruntled.

It seems she wasn't able to get what she wanted, in the end, but seeing another one of Alto's hidden cards was still a bonus in and of itself.

The night was over, and their impromptu alliance would be at an end. They each had their respective factions to return to, some of which had shown the full extent of their abilities, and some which had still not shown anything at all. A lot could change in one month, and many of them would meet again during that time, but the next time they would all meet again would be in the tournament.

Clara had already stacked as many odds as she could in their favor. There was nothing more for her here, yet she decided to stay to keep up appearances.

There was time, maybe, for final words. But other than that, the night was finally over.
