The year is 1934. The Third Holy Grail War has begun. The three families and the other various participants clash for the sake of claiming the grail the path to the origin, the omnipotent wish-granting device. And yet... something goes terribly, terribly wrong. Suddenly, a foolish attempt to seize complete control of the grail and remove it from its resting place escalates into an even more explosive conflict. In the process, the Holy Grail itself was heavily damaged, a bleeding scar cut through the very structure of the ritual itself. Matou Zouken was slain, ending one of the three founding families. The perpetrator, a magus of Germany, was also slain by the Tohsaka representative, before he was able to attempt to continue his plot.
When the dust settled, the third Holy Grail War could be considered nothing less then a failure. There was no choice but to delay the fourth war, to allow the Grail time to recover from the critical damage that had been done to it. Indeed, it wasn't until 2004 that the ritual was once again ready to be conducted.
But everything did not go as planned. In the months approached the War, it became apparent that the ritual had suffered sufficient damage to result in numerous changes that required proper investigation. Unfortunately there was no chance to perform this research.
The Einzbern family, having transported their most powerful homunculus yet to Fuyuki, along with her parents, a freelance agent and their previous homunculus once intended for the possibility of an earlier fourth war, was suddenly raided by an outside force. The Ainsworth family, a powerful magus family equipped with a vast arsenal of magecraft, very deliberately sought out the latest of the Einzbern homunculi and attempted to take her for themselves.
In a vicious battle, the freelance agent was critically injured, his life only saved by the efforts of his wife. However, they successfully prevented the kidnapping of their daughter.
It was from here that the Ainsworth family revealed their true intent: The absolute dominion over the Holy Grail. They planned to summon all seven Servants by themselves, a combination of family members and their allies, and they aggressively took command of the ritual.
And yet...
The damage to the Holy Grail all those years ago yielded something unexpected. The Tohsaka, joining forces with the Einzbern and magi from the association, were still able to participate.
It was not a simple Holy Grail War, but a Great Grail War. A war where two sides summon seven Servants and clash in a massive battle.
And soon, it will begin.
Trying something a little different this time with a Fate RP: A Great Grail War! I noticed that a lot of times people were vying for the same slot, so this time I decided to double them instead, in hopes that people will be more satisfied with their options.
As stated, this is a Great Grail War, meaning two teams of Servants and Masters will clash against one another. If any character slots are not filled, they will be filled by NPCs controlled by myself and my two co-GMs.
Some ground rules:
No Servants Older than Gilgamesh
He's the king of heroes for a reason, the most powerful Servant is also the oldest.
Few Servants from 1900 or later
Very few Servants come from beyond this point that qualify outside of the Moon Cell, please be careful if you choose a Servant from beyond this date.
No Servants with more then three Noble Phantasms
Isn't that enough? Most have one or two. More crosses into far too much power.
Great Grail War
We'll be having fourteen servants and fourteen masters split between two sides summoning said Servants. Sorry, but there will be no more slots then that, so first come first serve when it comes to classes. As stated, any empty slots will be filled with NPCs, if necessary.
Please sign up with both a Servant and a Master on opposite sides
This ensures there is balance in numbers. Please do not place your Servant and Master on the same side. For example, if you make a Servant on the Red Team, you must have a Black Team Master. Pairs will be arranged between players, or I can pair people if they're stuck.
If you get yourself into a situation where your character may be killed, I'm sorry
The premise of this RP guarantees that Servants will be dying. And if your Master messes up, they're at risk too. However, Servants at least are all famous figures from the past, and shouldn't go down easily.
No reality marbles
These are super-rare. Exceptions MAY be made but it's unlikely.
Have fun!
That's what this RP is here for. Follow standard RP etiquette and my guidelines, and you should have no problem.
Tiger Dojo
Finally, @PKMNB0Y and @Raineh Daze will be helping me run this RP, and will naturally be in charge of the Tiger Dojo.

• Personality: If you could sum someone’s being in a single phrase, Othis could be described as: “A true genius with an aloof, almost robotic, behavior”. While these traits aren’t uncommon among those who attend the Atlas Temple, Othis is one of the few who pushes them even further beyond. For those who don’t know her, it may be even plausible to think that Othis isn’t a natural-born human but rather a homunculus engineered to be a living spiritron calculation device.
As expected, Othis has no hard feelings one way or another regarding those who look down on her. As long as her job is completed in the most efficient way possible, that is.
Her few non-magecraft related interests revolve around the only activities she allowed herself to enjoy as a pastime, reading and problem-solving, especially those of the geometric nature. Being able to derive any form of enjoyment out of these activities shows that perhaps there maybe be a more humane version of Othis at the core of her being… maybe?
• Skills: Othis is an adept practitioner of Memory Partition and Thought Acceleration, allowing her to absorb and process information at an inhumanly fast pace. Currently, Othis can manage six partitions, putting her just a step below the level of those worthy of bearing the name Atlasia when it comes to mental prowess.
In addition to that, she's also quite knowledgeable at a number of subjects both mundane and esoteric in nature.
She's also, pretty good at coffee brewing. After all, there’s nothing better than caffeine to carry someone, whether they are a Magus or not, through long hours of study.
• Abilities: As far as magic circuits go, Othis is a pretty good example of what happens when one neglects the kind of eugenics that the Clock Tower is so proud of for long enough. However, having atrociously bad magic circuits is no problem for an Atlasian Alchemist, given that their greatest forte is Mystic Code operation.
Othis is capable of analyzing the base nature(composition and structure) of almost anything with a mere sight, a talent that can pretty much be called "Mystic Eyes of Scanning". Even though, in truth, it's more like the masterful eyes of an ancient mathematician an engineer. This talent is very useful for comprehending abstract concepts such as mathematical formulae and functions, and even others’ magecraft, though Othis still has to process the information on her own.
She was granted the right to bring a few Mystic Codes with her outside of Atlas. The first is an Orichalcum(Brass) Gauntlet that acts as an amplifier and control unit to metallurgic magecraft. It's collapsible to the size of a common bracelet which Othis has it with her the whole time. As a secondary function, it houses an array of sis detachable mirrors that can move and hover in the air on their own. These satellites function as spiritron collection devices capable of gathering and amplifying light in the form of destructive “heat rays”. In essence, it’s an application of the same principles developed by a great sage that lived in the island nation of Syracuse during the twilight of the Age of the Gods.
The last of her weapons a harness made of same material as Othis’ other weapons that wraps around her waist, back, and torso, in the same fashion as a modern safety harness, whose primary function is collecting spiritrons from the nearby environment and convert them into usable magic energy. Additionally, it also works as defensive armor and exoskeleton to assist in her physical mobility, however, none of these secondary functions are very developed.
• Short History: As a child born and raised to a family that spent perhaps too many generations in the bowels of the Titan's Pit, Othis doesn't have much in the way of exciting events on her backstory.
While it may sound strange for someone to say that being raised in the place where the most wondrous, and terrific, artifacts of the world of Magecraft are created is a boring backstory; but when you get used to seeing fantastical things on a daily basis, it's easy to take them for granted. After all, when you lived your whole life surrounded by weapons capable of destroying the world in a very literal way, one or two more spiritron-converter bombs aren’t that impressive anymore.
In fact, the most uncommon thing to ever happen to Othis' life is being one of the few attendees to ever be allowed to leave the premises of the Academy all because of the Einzberns, or the Tohsaka, found a way to take hold of one of the last few remaining contracts that the first directors of Atlas issued so innocently centuries ago…
NP stats derived from Zero because at least they're consistent and sensible.
Servants:
Name: Sir Lancelot du Lac, Knight of the Lake.
Class: Saber
Personality: Lauded by King Arthur as the ideal knight, it is summoned as Saber that Lancelot is closest to the chivalric ideal: caring for justice, detesting evil, honouring women... despite the fall of Camelot, without being consumed by madness, Lancelot is a knight without a dark side--even if he thinks that King Arthur's dedication to ideals was something distinctly unsettling and inhuman. Though he will faithfully serve his Master, he isn't the type to get deeply involved in a personal relationship with his Master.
Stats:
Strength: B
Endurance: B
Agility: A
Mana: C
Luck: B
Noble Phantasm: A++
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance: B
Riding: B
Personal Skills:
Eternal Arms Mastery: A+. Heralded as the greatest warrior of his era, combat skills have reached the level of instinct and can be utilised regardless of mental interference.
Knight of the Lake: A. Raised by the Lady of the Lake since birth and carrying her blessing, Lancelot can apply a + to any parameter aside from Luck temporarily.
Protection of the Fairies: A. A blessing from Elementals, it grants the ability to increase Luck, but only on the battlefield, where it is possible to perform feats of arms.
Noble Phantasm(s):
Name: Arondight - The Unfading Light of the Lake
Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Unit/Anti-Army
Appearance: It's in the picture.
Effects: Ranks up all parameters when drawn and doubles the effectiveness of saving throws. Doubled effectiveness against dragons. Even before anything is done, it vastly increases Lancelot's mana consumption. By overloading the blade with magical energy, it is possible to perform an attack that would normally be an anti-army slash of light but can also be re-purposed to cutting into an enemy before releasing the vast amounts of magical energy.
Name: For Someone's Glory - Not For One's Own Glory
Rank: B
Type: Anti-Unit
Appearance: N/A
Effects: A Noble Phantasm derived from Lancelot's stories of winning fame and glory whilst disguised, it allows him to assume the appearance of other heroes known for their military exploits. Even without using this application, it can still be used to disguise his appearance under a fog that makes any features impossible to distinguish and seem disturbingly out of place. This also hides his statistics from any observing Masters.
Name: Knight of Owner - A Knight Does Not Die Empty-Handed.
Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Unit
Appearance: N/A
Effects: This Noble Phantasm gives him the ability to turn anything that he holds into his own Noble Phantasm, wielding it as if a master, so long as it can be recognised as a weapon. Anything that isn't already a Noble Phantasm will be transformed into a D-Rank Noble Phantasm.
Hello! I'm new here and I was looking for a Fate RP, but most of them looked full... I just noticed this on the recent RPs, but I was wondering if there was any room left? I'm interested in doing an Archer!
@ManyThings: Honestly, um... I'd already been interested in the Red Saber, and @Kyoka also expressed interest in that slot and I'd been trying to figure out what to do about that. ^^;
Ah, nice! Ahh... I noticed the Reality Marble rule, but does that also apply to canon Servants? I was thinking of doing EMIYA because of how interesting it would be, given that it's an alternate universe.
@Kyoka: Ah... See, er, this is in continuity with the original FSN version of the Nasuverse(up until the third War), meaning that Arturia can only be summoned in her more mature, Excalibur-wielding incarnation.
@Avalon: Emiya would be pretty interesting, honestly. The Reality Marble rule(and the NP count rule) are admittedly mostly in place to discourage people from overloading OC Servants on abilities. I want people to ask first and check with @PKMNB0Y, @Raineh Daze, and myself if they want to do anything like that.
@VitaVitaAR Ah! So that's what the NP rule was about! In that case, can I use Perseus? This would be a little different from the prototype Rider, in the sense that he actually has Skills and can theoretically use more than one NP at once (mana permitting), but some of his NPs are really just on par with Skills.
Ah, then that's great! I'll be apping EMIYA, then, if everyone's okay with it! He isn't too strong, I believe... It would be interesting to see him and Shirou meet, too, if that were to happen! I wonder how he would feel, given the nature of this AU.
More seriously, that is actually who I'd been considering for Saber before putting the interest check up. ^^; But it's not fair of me to just say "nope" to one of my players when you expressed your interest in the interest check.
