So, Ant-Man and the Wasp was cool. As far as sequels go, it was successful. Ghost was a better villain than Yellowjacket and it didn't feel like an Iron Man ripoff (plot-wise), so that was neat. Paul Rudd slayed as always and his chemistry with everyone else was, as to be expected, perfection.

Did...did the first one feel like an Iron Man ripoff?

@Fabricant451 In a way, yeah. Hank being booted from his own company (like Tony). Hank making technology nobody else could replicate (like Tony) and a bald, power-hungry villain booting them from their own companies. Of course, both films had their own identity (in a way), but I feel the similarities are just too great to ignore.

Now with that being said, I still enjoyed the fuck out of both Iron Man and Ant-Man.

@Altered Tundra I'd say if any movie had the moniker of Iron Man rip off it'd be Doctor Strange, to that movie's detriment.

@Fabricant451 Yeah, seems like Marvel has applied the Iron Man treatment to a few of their films. Or it could be the characters themselves that are rehashes of Iron Man.

I hate how all during pre-production of Doctor Strange they were harping on about how it won't be another origin story. Then it came out and surprise surprise...it was a bland, mundane origin story. All that movie really had going for it were the (admittedly incredible) visuals. In every other aspect it was average as hell.

Then again, so was Ant Man, but Ant Man and Wasp was a massive improvement and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully a Doctor Strange 2 can replicate the effects.

Ant Man debuted first.

@Hey Im Jordan Oh. Let me just add that to the long list of things I don't know about the comics.

I don't think that's really true. It was much more egregious in Doctor Strange because Strange came off as just Surgeon Stark except his harrowing journey was far less sympathetic than Tony's was. Apart from the still lingering cloud of mostly bad villains, the Marvel movies are all mostly distinct even if some very, very, very surface comparisons could be made.

Been waiting for Rizu to Aoi Tori to come out for sometime in US theaters. The only place showing it around where I live is where I used to live, which is about an hour or so away, but they're also showing it on one day at 7:00 PM, and it's $30 for just two people because they put in their special room to give people some leg room.

Guess I'm not seeing it until it comes out on Blueray, then.

The Detective Pikachu movie looks interesting, and I'll likely go see it, but I'm not too sure on how I feel in regards to a live action Pokemon movie. It's good that they're trying something different, yet at the same time it feels weird? Not exactly sure how to phrase it. It might just be that I'm used to the anime art style of Pokemon rather than something live action, like Detective Pikachu.

I finally watched Crazy Rich Asians...

...and I think I've found a new favorite movie. Sorry, Captain America: Civil War.

It was just so relatable and it struck a chord with me so I just had to love it throughout

Okay, so, I'm a bit late to this, but Warner Bros did an ad stunt where they put the whole Lego movie as an ad for Black Brick Friday. I don't know how much longer it'll be up, but if you guys wanted to watch, here's the link:

Is that from the view point of liking the book and because it's a terrible adaption? Or just because it's a terrible product generally? (Only reason I ask, because it's a sequel of novel adaption. So I can't imagine why you'd watch it otherwise without external knowledge, or somehow enjoying the first movie.)

On a separate note, there's literally nothing I care about watching that's coming out in theaters. But big surprise the fiftieth Robin Hood movie wasn't liked by audiences or critics. Just googling "Upcoming Movies" makes me dread the release of more movies than not.

Neither the first movie or this one were adaptations. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them the fake book has nothing to do with Wizard Nazis that the movies do. I watched the first because I am a fan of the Wizarding World and the movie was charmingly pleasant. The sequel was basically Star Wars prequel level of bullshit and twists that both make no sense with established lore and fundamentally ruin everything. It's a bad movie and someone needs to tell JK Rowling that writing a novel and writing a screenplay are not the same thing.
