ϟ Revival ϟ

Centuries tell numerous stories of a superhuman group of individuals banding together for the common goal of taking down a dangerous evil for the sake of the entire universe. Ranging from intergalactic aliens to other dimension beings, our world can count on a certain group colorful individuals teaming up and saving the world from certain evil. No one is one hundred percent sure of when the development of these herculean teams started, but one of the many tales of the Power Rangers includes a certain battle with a parasitic evil. With one final blow, this particular group of legendary Power Rangers from ancient history used all of their energy to ensure that the evil was eradicated, removed completely from this world. With the parasite gone, so were the powers, never to be seen again.

In the year 2020, Angel Grove, California is growing exponentially into populous hub of technology and innovation. With cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco competing for the attention of the younger generation, the allure of Angel Grove appears to be not only the numerous opportunities for growth in a variety of industries; there is also a certain beauty about it being the place of origin for the modern day Power Rangers. Of course, the Power Rangers have not been seen in many years, but that doesn't stop the locals from talking about it as if the salvation of the human race happened yesterday.

At the heart of the city's financial boom is Gaia Corporation (Gaia Corp. for short). Gaia Corp. emerged nearly two decades ago as a company focusing on the creation of electronic devices and applications. What originally started as a simple company that mimicked Microsoft or Apple soon blossomed into a company that demanded the attention of the federal government. Now, in addition to the creation of phones, televisions, and consoles, Gaia Corp. appears to be in bed with the government in terms of creating a division that helped militarized operations. Unfortunately, most of this is kept under the table and hushed from the public view, but no one can deny the power that Grace Thorne, CEO of Gaia Corp., has harnessed in such a little amount of time.

Perhaps Gaia Corp. was called upon at the right time, because slowly but surely insectoid humanoids have been emerging across the city of Angel Grove and attacking individuals. No one is sure where exactly these creatures came from, but now seemed like as good a time as any for the Power Rangers to return once again to cure the ills of the city. What Gaia Corp. wasn't counting on was somehow "losing" their supply of electronic devices that was theoretically supposed to be used to equip a group of trained professionals to use out in the field. Now... not only are these devices somewhere scattered across the Angel Grove, only to be found by who knows... but also there are miniature battery charged operated dinosaur creatures looking for a person to call their master.

With the return of the parasite to Angel Grove and Gaia Corp. in a complete frenzy to find their equipment, this new group of ragtag misfits must eventually come together under the realization that there are threats in this world that can only be stopped by a revival of the Power Rangers.

ϟ Episode 1: Day of the Dino ϟ

The steady increase in temperature, flowers blooming, birds chirping... The first day of Spring is upon us in Angel Grove, California. Sure, the freezing threat of Winter doesn't haunt southern California as much as it does New York, but that doesn't stop the positive vibes from flowing throughout the city. As such, the energy of the city has increased dramatically with Spring Break drawing near. The only problem is... there appears to be a bothersome infestation of insects terrorizing various locations across the city. Some are chalking it up to the change of the season, but this is certainly more unusual than normal. Not only do the soon-to-be Rangers notice this, but their personal Dinos notice this as well. Can this group of young adults with attitude uncover the secret behind these insect hordes as well their Dinos reacting crazily? Find out next on...

ϟ Instructions ϟ

At this point each of the Rangers to-be have had their Dinos for the past few weeks. Though they still can't get past the point that this "toy" seemingly is alive, they have learn to accept the Dino for who it is... especially since it tends to follow them everywhere. It's best for the Rangers to keep it concealed and away from the public eye since it is bound to draw attention to it. That being said, it is capable of obeying human command... but only from its specific Ranger. When primal instinct comes into play, however, it goes off on its own path. Seems like the Rangers have quite a bit of training to do.

It's stumbling upon the early afternoon in Angel Grove. Lonny (@Renny, Red Ranger) should be clocking out of his factory job and heading home at this point. The urge to grab a bite to eat his running through his mind and his stomach. Manami (@alexfangtalon, Black Ranger) is headed for her evening session at a new wrestling performance center in the city. Perhaps she's just finished with scripting her match. Sundus (@Stern Algorithm, Blue Ranger) is busy at the Angel Grove Public Library staying sharp in her research. The thoughts of pursuing her Ph.D. are looming larger than she would like. Reggie (@Azure Flame, Green Ranger) is currently on a smoke break at his record store. Is he going to his ignore his father's phone call yet again? Lastly, Olivia (@Fabricant451, Pink Ranger) is getting that itch to test out the Angel Grove Police Academy again. Seeing as how she excelled at the physical test, she's been studying up for her psych test while she's on the clock at her job.

The common thread among the Rangers should be: they, at some point, have noticed a large influx of bugs hovering around the area.

While the Rangers are completing these seemingly ordinary tasks, they are thrown for a loop when their Dinos (discreetly) take off running in the opposite direction. As such, Gabutyra (Red) and Zakutor (Green) meet up in an alley, trying to attack a swarm of bugs. Parasagun (Black) and Stegotchi (Blue) meet up at the Angel Grove University quad. Dricera (Pink) flies solo, heading to the fountain at Angel Grove Park. Here are your objectives:

• Complete your opening post as if it is an ordinary day, ending with your Dino running off to its respective location (the alley or the quad).
• Have a brief interaction with your partner when you make it to your location and then one (if not both) of you should realize the swarm of insects. For Pink, you will arrive on the scene solo, but notice the swarm flying around the top of the fountain (@Fabricant451).
• The swarm will transform into a squad of Buggies and attack the Rangers. Fight them off as best as you can. There should be some level of struggle for the Rangers. Doesn't have to be a complete ass-whooping, but you're not a Ranger... yet!
• Just when it seems like you're going to die, a glow based on your Ranger color will appear on your hip, as your Dino Morpher will emerge (you will receive the morphing template from me in the OOC in due time). Morph and defeat the Buggies with the help of your partner (feel free to be friendly or not). Pink, don't worry. You won't be alone too long.
• Once the dust settles, you will power down, talk to your partner and figure out what the heck just happened. Before the episode ends, you'll receive a mysterious message through your Dino Buckle Device.

The Hive

In an undisclosed location...

"How much longer must we wait, Bolran? From the looks of it, Master Draco appears to be ready to awakened right at this moment!" an impatient Moltus blurted out, staring at his recovering master shielded behind a stasis chamber. Though the molten covered general's vision said otherwise, Draco was a ways away from being the parasitic force that he come to know and love.

"Patience, Moltus," Bolran said in response, pouring gooey green substance into a tube that funneled into the chamber, changing the color from a pure white to a faint green that grew darker and darker as the other general fed more goo into the chamber. "We had clear instruction from Master Draco to not wake him until the timing was right. We're closer than we've ever been before, but we have to consider that our process was going to be much shorter than his. Draco is a powerful being and he wants perfection. So, let's give him that."

"Argh! I'm sick of this damn patience speak!" Moltus roared out, slamming his massive hands onto the nearby wall, tearing a dark hole into it. With his rising rage, lava spewed from his nostrils, squirting onto the floor before quickly hardening when it was met with the cool surface. "Is there not anything that we can do between now and then? We don't even know when the hell then is! I'm sick of waiting! Look at all of those... damn ants out there. I could squash 'em myself if Draco gave me the opportunity. That's what he would want me to--"

"He... wants us to wait before doing anything rational. Besides... he has a plan that I think you'll like..." Bolran responded, walking over to a machine covered in several small spiders. Swatting at the arachnids, he pressed a button on the bright screen and, with a "boop" sound, two large capsules emerged from a hidden wall behind Moltus. "Draco told us that when he was at 85 percent completion to release the shackles on the Buggies. Good news, Moltus: he's at 85 percent as of this moment. Would you do the honor?"

A wicked smile curled on Moltus's mandible as the deranged insectoid grabbed the two capsules from the shelf, slamming them down onto the ground with a loud crack as two separate swarms of bugs fielded out of the Hive's lair and into the open air of the Earth. The Hive had a brilliant plan that Bolran wanted to follow, but he understood the wishes of his comrade Moltus and of his boss Draco. The takeover would be arriving soon and the world of these humans (or ants as Moltus called them) would soon belong to the Hive.

Gaia Corp.

"Weeks! Weeks with no sign of Gaia Corp. property emerging to the forefront? Is a $10,000 reward not enough to make the people of Angel Grove act!?" Grace Thorne, CEO of Gaia Corp. blurted out to her team as she met with them in the Gaia Corp. conference room. Heaving a sigh, she buried her face in her hands as dead silence fell over the room. Sitting her hands on the glass table, she gave each of her members an icy stare, like a mother would do to her children when they caused trouble. "So help me God... if one more week passes without any uncovering as to who stole our shit.... I'll..." She flipped her hand at her team in a 'be gone' manner before leaning back in her chair.

The team of well-dressed individuals immediately filed out the room with the thought of finding Gaia Corp.'s property at the front of their minds. A slightly muscular young man stood in the doorway, giving the distraught and angry woman a quick look over before slowly walking into the room. At the sound of soft footsteps, Grace looked up at the young man, an unamused look on her face but not as severe as it was with the members of her recovery team.

"Son, what did I tell you about your attire? This is a business professional corporation."

"You know who would be able to find your shit, mother," he said a wily smirk on his face. "You just gotta take that intern name off my nametag and let me--"

"Devin," Grace said coldly, giving her son that motherly stare. "Firstly, don't you dare curse in my presence. Secondly, no... you have not earned the right to call yourself a Gaia Corp. employee when you can't do even the simplest things correctly... like wearing a damn suit." She paused for a moment as Devin looked himself over. His attire wasn't as terrible as she put off. He was donning a button up shirt with sleeves rolled up to just below his elbows such that his tattoos were noticeable on his forearms... another thing that pissed her off to no end. Though when he gave her that look that his father gave him... she couldn't help but to give in, even in the slightest. "Fine... I'm putting you in charge of the recovery team. Those Dinos were made specifically for Gaia Corp. and no one else. They shouldn't synchronize with other individuals but... they're not goddamn toys. They are company property. Now go before I decide to change my mind!"

Devin's smirk evolved into a smile as he nodded at his mother. "Won't let you down mother," he said. And with that, Devin slipped his hands into his pockets before going back into the open space of the office. Operation recover Gaia Corp.'s shit was now underway.

[Azure Flame]

Reggie

"'Ey mon, I'm gonna go out for a bit, you got dis?" Reggie asked one of his employees at the register, who nodded his response. "Thanks mon, I'll be back in a few minutes, just need to take da edge off, if ya know what I'm sayin' mon." he said with a chuckle and a wink, heading out through his office and into the back door. As he pulled the joint from behind his ear, and lighter out of his pocket, he noticed his little raptor buddy, Zakutor, follow him out of his office and get up onto his shoulder. "Ya been behavin' yourself Zak?" he asked his toy-like dino as he lit the joint and took a drag. The little dino nodded and Reggie laughed and said "Good on ya mon!"

Just then, his phone went off and he checked to see it was his father. "Captain buzzkill strikes again." he said, hitting ignore and putting his phone back in his pocket. He took a drag, feeling the weed's calming effects wash over him. It was then that he noticed a swam of insects flying around "Da fuck is goin' on mon?" he swore under his breath. Just then, Zakutor leapt off his shoulder and began chasing after the swarm. "Shit, Zak, where do ya think you're goin' mon!?" Reggie called out, following his little dino buddy as he chased the bugs into an alley.

"Aye be safe out there, LT." said a bulky man as he shuffled out the door.

Lonny partly acknowledged his acquaintance with a nod. "Yea, you too man."

He was clocked out a few moments later, his hands tucked in his pockets as he headed towards his unsightly car. Pieces of paint was chipped, exposing rust on the old Honda. A flash of red and yellow from several feet away bounced around in his vehicle. He smiled amused. "Come on, Brave. I told you to keep a low profile." He shuffled across the small parking lot, noticing an annoying buzz creeping from the north, soon a cloud of black insects were in the sky and moving out of sight.

He paused at his door and looked up. "That's weird," he commented in his usual low tone. "They're everywhere. Better get home or at least to a McDonalds." He opened the door to slide in, only for Brave to roar a small, yet furious noise and hurry out. Lonny tried to grab him but it squeezed between his legs and started down the street. He closed his door, locked it, and chased after it.

"Hold on, Brave... Brav-" he stopped, a few of his peers starting to stare.

As the toy-dinosaur turned a corner down a familiar alley, Lonny came to slow halt upon seeing another toy-dinosaur. "There's more of you?" he asked himself.

"Remember to get some rest before the match tomorrow night. Ricky said he had a surprise for us." Manami stood smiling at her friend/co-worker, Erica, "Knowing him it's probably just an attempt to make the title match a triple threat with his daughter added in. Anyway, I gotta go. Thanks again for coming out here to work on the match."

"Hey, a three-hour drive isn't a big deal. You do it every night."

"Well, hopefully not anymore. Fingers crossed this new training spot is good." Parting with a hug, after making sure no one recognized them, the two parted ways. Outside the small cafe, Manami reached into her backpack for her phone only to find Perry, her newest friend as of a few weeks ago, bouncing around as if he had been locked in a bag for about two hours. Which he had been but that didn't mean he had to mess with her things. "Move Perry. I need to check the address." Perry then leaped out of the bag onto the young woman's shoulder. This is when the young woman discovered that her phone was locked. "Perry, you have got to stop locking my phone just because I don't play with you."

That's when she noticed the little dino wasn't really paying her any attention. She followed his gaze to see what appeared to be a swarm of insects. Suddenly, the little rascal darted off Manami's shoulder and in the general direction of the Angel Grove University. Manami quickly followed after doing a sort of whispered yell,"Perry, get back here. Crap!" Manami then broke out in a sprint trying to catch the troublemaking dino.

Reggie

As Reggie turned into the alley, finally catching up with the little green raptor, he saw a small red T-Rex enter the alley as well and heard someone running up behind him. He turned around to see a young man come around the corner, looking surprised to see him and Zak. "You too eh?" Reggie asked the man, referring to the tiny dino. He smirked and gave the guy a thumb's up before turning his attention back to his own dino. "Now why'd ya make me chase ya down dis dark ally, Zak?" he asked the little green dino. It was then that he noticed movement in the back of the alley and remembered the insects. "Dis don't look good, mon."

Brave flipped onto a metal trash bin, his steely snout pointed at the sky. He moved around minutely observing the growing shadow overhead. Lonny came to halt about three feet from Reggie, his hands tucked into the side pockets of his brown, rugged jacket. He wasn't hot but if it was cold he wouldn't had known, his red hoodie underneath the jacket was a natural insulator.

He raised a dark brow and pursed his lips tightly, confusion pulled on his face. "Yea, me too, I guess. Brave, get down here buddy. I'm hungry... or sleepy. One of them." The casual tone that would usually elicit an immediate response hadn't budged the t-rex. He continued to look overhead, an alarming squawk resonating from its maw.

Instinctively, Lonny looked up too. He could feel something between him and Brave, a connection that carried a wave of worry. Then something thumped in his chest, a radiant pulsing that he hadn't felt in years. An anxiety. He pulled a hand from his pocket and patted his hastened chest twice. "Something isn't right. I've never seen a swarm of bugs that dense. Its unnatural, ain't it?"

Brave squawked, finally leaping off the thrash can and up onto his shoulder.

[Stern Algorithm]

Sundus sat at the library computer booth, alternating between reading scientific papers to keep up with the current research, and poking and prodding at job applications. She looked awkward, with her backpack nestled on her lap, taking up the space between her chest, stomach, and the desk. She had to do this because Thag Simmons, her 'pet robot' stegosaurus, just would not stay still. Afraid to leave it out of her sight, but also afraid to be seen with it, Sundus carried it with her wherever she went. Simmons didn't like it, but Sundus didn't have any other options. She had kept it too long to be able to explain that she had simply found it, and she was afraid that if she ever got caught with it, she'd be going to prison. She could tell that this robot dinosaur belonged to Gaia Corp., what with the $10,000 reward going around. At first she wanted to keep it to spite them, then the few times she had wanted to come clean, the stegosaurus refused to be returned, desiring to stay with her instead. Now she felt like a criminal, carrying contraband with her at all times.

The backpack jerked suddenly. Simmons was getting restless. Sighing, Sundus quickly saved whatever documents she was reading or working on, and logged off the computer. She could do her research and job searching at home, but it felt good to get out of the house every once in a while and not feel like a complete freeloader, living off her parents. "Alright, Simmons, you win," She whispered as she left the library. As she slung the backpack over her shoulder, she heard a loud rip, followed by the clatter of her personal belongings scattering on the library steps. She immediately bent down to catch her scattering things, noticing the little blue stegosaurus bolting away from her. "Hey! Simmons! Thag Simmons! Get back here!" Sundus yelled as if she were calling a child, but it was no use. Sundus scrambled to pick up her things, noticing that the rip in the backpack was not because of wear and tear. Fuming, she collected her things and ran after Simmons. She noted with some optimism, that he was leading her through familiar territory, the university. Simmons finally stopped in the quad and seemed agitated by something. A darkness passed overhead, forcing Sundus to look up at the cloud of bugs that was casting the shadow. Did stegosaurs eat bugs? Do robots eat? Why am I thinking about food? Sundus' mind ran wild with speculation for a moment. She went over to pick up her stressed blue dinosaur. "Don't go nuts like that again, okay? I can't let anyone see you or I'm going to jail, okay?"
