It was two-on-two! Or technically, if one were counting by the number of magical girls, two-on-one! Somehow, Tokiko had gotten herself caught up in a difficult situation...

"Uuuaaaaaah!" The monstergirl might have taken that first kick fairly well, but even she was wary of the kanabo, ducking back to keep out of reach of its spiky head. As the weapon screamed past, however, she charged straight at her opponent, and drove one elbow forwards to try and slam into Naoko before she could reverse the momentum of her swing. That weapon was probably an Archetype, meaning it would pack a hell of a punch, but if Eve could get in close enough she'd be able to restrict its movements!

At the same time, Tokiko faced another threat: Tsukimi was coming at her again and now she didn't have her Archetype to defend her. Tokiko herself wasn't much good in an up-close fight, and even a weaker enemy as weak as the spear girl might be able to overwhelm her if she closed in. But! I still have some tricks up my sleeve... Narrowing her eyes, she pointed her taser straight at the oncoming opponent. "UPGRAAAAAAADE!"

The weapon seemed to explode in her hands, shattering into its component parts: batteries, circuits, electrodes, and even the plastic casing came apart and floated in midair. Then green-tinted lightning crackled through the cloud of broken pieces, and they came together again, reassembling into an entirely different configuration. It looked something like a gun, but jagged and jumbled, as if a crazy person had assembled it in their basement without reading the instructions properly... and instead of a barrel, two gleaming electrodes were pointed straight at Tsukimi.

To you, that needle is a weapon... but to me, it's just a lightning rod! Tokiko cackled with delight. "Take this! The power of a storm, harnessed by the genius of humankind!
"TESLAAAAAAAA ☆ CANNOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!"

She squeezed the trigger, and her yell was almost drowned out by an almighty CRACK as a bolt of blazing electricity burst out from her weapon and slammed into Tsukimi, drawn by the extended point of her spear.

"If you want to become a magical girl... you simply have to tell me! Say 'I want to be a Magical Girl'! I've already determined you have the potential, that's all I need!"

She had the potential... that was all she needed. Hikari took a deep breath. This was all crazy, and apparently there was something happening soon, something dangerous and frightening that involved magical girls as a whole... but that wasn't something she was going to let discourage her.

The brunette couldn't just sit there and watch any longer, and there was no way she could ever pass up the opportunity to become a magical girl. And...

"That girl made me so angry, she's so irritating... But I... I can't let her fight alone, and I can't pass up the kind of opportunity I've been hoping for... So... I want to be a magical girl!"

"That's great!" chirped the fairy, cheerfully, "Now hold still..."

She raised one small hand to Hikari's chest, and...!

Naoko grinned as she saw the elbow crashing towards her, and raised her arm defensively. The blow from the monstergirl clearly rocked her entire frame, but as a testament to the strength Steel Rod Naoko was renowned for, she didn't falter. Nearly any other magical girl would be knocked flat, but the oni girl stayed on her feet, her grin becoming only slightly less strained.

"Heheh, this is a pretty good matchup for me! Two girls with a monster theme, duking it out-that's pretty kickass, right? Even if you're not really a magical girl 'n all!" she declared, raising her kanabo back for another blow as she stepped back. Even if her arm did hurt, it was clear she wasn't letting it distract her!

"Tesl-"

Tsukimi's eyes widened in surprise when the bolt of electricity fired, and she was barely able to summon a circular barrier between herself and the electrical blast, and when it slammed into her it still immediately shattered the crimson shield and sent her flying back, slamming into the wall at the end of the alley, where two alleyways intersected. Smoking slightly, the spear-wielding magical girl slid down the wall and lay still...

... For a moment. Wincing as she slowly raised herself to her feet, giving a wavering smile, the girl used her spear to help herself get up.

"Heh... I might not be too s-strong... but I'm good at getting back on my feet!"

She spun her spear in her hands, taking a ready stance once more.

"If that's your game, I'll just have to respond in kind!"

Her strained smile turning into a somewhat vicious grin, the visage of the spear suddenly shattered.

And what was underneath...

The description of the spear as a needle suddenly became far more accurate. It was a huge, unusually-shaped needle, with strange inscriptions on the side, balanced in Tsukimi's hands.

"This is my Killing Needle, Frankenstein-sensei!" she asserted, still bearing that vicious grin, "Of course, it won't kill another magical girl, but it'll sure hurt!"

As she spoke, a red light began to build at the needle's tip, slowly spreading across it...

But then...

Magical energy flowed through Hikari's body, as the fairy ignited the dreams in her heart.

A brilliant light flashed, concealing her within a defensive barrier as she began to undergo her first transformation as a magical girl!

Tokiko frowned. She'd landed a good hit, but... Damn it, I hate the persistent ones. The longer this dragged out, the greater chance there was of another enemy noticing and showing up to take advantage. Why did I even start this fight? I should have just gone to the cafe like I'd planned...

Eve had struck a solid blow as well, but her opponent was proving even more resilient. As Naoko stepped back, the Archetype advanced to match, and when the magical girl raised her kanabo again a huge hand jabbed out and closed around her wrist, holding her arm in place. The monstergirl smirked. That weapon was powerful, but if she could restrain the arm of its wielder, she'd never get a chance to swing it!

... or at least, that was the plan. Eve's muscular limb began to jerk and tremble as her strength was pit against Naoko's, one seeking to wrench her arm free whilst the other tried to hold it still. And the monstergirl, for all her power, was losing the contest of might.

"Uuuuu!" Her eyes widened, and she glanced desperately at her master. For the briefest of instants, Tokiko met her eyes, and nodded.

The Archetype knew, then, that she was going to be okay. Her master had a plan! She just needed to hold on a little longer! Gritting her teeth, she redoubled her efforts, using her free hand to grab at Naoko's other arm and try to force her back. "GraaaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

Meanwhile, Tokiko turned her attention back to her other opponent. "So you're a masochist, is that it?" She raised her Tesla Cannon, now crackling with electricity as it charged itself up again. "Or did you think I could only fire one time before I got tired? It's not like I'm a boy, you know!" Another exaggerated laugh. "Whatever technique you can pull off with that silly needle, I'll just blast it and you away with my next shot! Give up already!"

Bait laid, trap set. It was just a matter of timing now... or was it? Tokiko's eyes shifted momentarily towards Hikari. The only uncertain factor... of course it would be her. The battlefield was balanced on a knife's edge, and that stubborn shorty had put herself right in the middle of things. Whatever she did next could turn the tide completely in favor of one side of the other.

In that moment, Tokiko couldn't help but smile at the absurdity of it all. I really shouldn't have bumped into her... but who could have anticipated that one small girl would cause so much trouble?

"Me, a shrine maiden...?"

Nico paused for a moment, coiling one of her index fingers around her chin to give the offer serious consideration. She took it in earnest, despite Himeko's playful tone. Would she even look good in a haori and a hakama? Her hair's probably not even long enough to qualify... and Nico didn't have nearly the amount of experience the other girl did. Further, even if it would be nice to spend more time outside of her house, Nico doubted her parents would allow such a thing. They fought against introducing any form of fun in her life. No matter how much she thought about it, it seemed impossible. It left the girl a little dejected, but she soon snapped back to reality once she remembered Himeko was still there.

"Ah, sorry! I got a little lost in thought, there..."

The girl moved closer, meeting Yukimura's gaze with a soft smile. It felt nice to have a person pay attention to her.

"If you're really okay with it, I'd love to join you on your walk... I just hope I'm not a burden," Nico replied. She followed Himeko down the steps, but not before bowing at the Tori one last time on her way out.

“I’ll see you tomorrow. Please, take care on the way home,” Christa said before parting with one of her classmates that shared most of the way back home with her. Despite having the possibility of having a driver pick her up, Christa always prefered to walk back home for multiple reasons. The most important of which -- after she became a magical girl -- being that this allowed her to scout the streets that lay between her school and her house.

Christa took a glance at her phone, noticing that there was no recent activity just as she was making her way through a park. A passing raven caught her attention momentarily, but she gave it no mind in the long run, instead wondering whether or not the girl from the earlier message had already found a place to stay.

Just when Christa decided to make a quick detour to buy herself a drink, she came across a much more unexpected sight. A youngish-looking, red headed girl fidgeting around one of the swings. The blonde stood there for a moment, observing how the other girl tossed herself in the sandbox before getting herself back at a seat position while grinning in a disturbing way. While any normal person would just walk away after such an unsettling sight, Christa decided to check whether or not the girl needed help. Perhaps, she was lost and Christa could at least help her find the nearest police station?

“Hi there,” Christa smiled as she approached the girl, trying not to startle her, “Did something happen to you? If you wish, I could try to help you,” she said, extending an open hand towards the girl.

The light seemed to suffuse her very being, flowing through her. A gentle, pleasant warmth spread from her chest, then throughout her entire body, filling every part of her with such a wonderful feeling.

Hikari let out a sigh.

When she opened her eyes, the fact that all of her clothing had somehow dissipated into nothing didn't even dawn on her. She was in some sort of barrier, a brilliant world of warmth and magic. Was this... was this how becoming a magical girl felt?

From the outside, it would seem as if the small brunette had suddenly disappeared into an orb of light. A typical protective field to defend a magical girl during her transformation.

The light flowed across her body, forming clothing. A ribbon, and then... it coalesced into the form of a kimono, a somewhat less traditional, frilly orange one, with a layered red skirt that appeared in a sudden burst of fire. Indeed, each item of clothing, even the ribbons in her hair, suddenly appeared with a burst of flames after initially forming from the resplendent light.

But somehow, it felt like that suited her!

As it flowed across her legs, it formed a pair of frilled thigh-highs, and finally a set of platform geta, extending her height by a fair amount.

And then...

With a flash of flames, a long handle, and then the great head of a hammer appeared. As she reached out to grip it, with surprise, she noticed that the rear of the head resembled a dragon, the front somehow appearing to be a bell...

Hikari swung it, once, experimentally, then gripped it in both hands.

The light faded away, and Hikari's geta clacked on the concrete ground. Immediately, unable to help it, she looked down at herself in awe. This... had really happened! She was really wearing that outfit, holding that hammer... She was really a magical girl! She hadn't even noticed her hair had turned a brilliant red, eyes intensely orange.

"I... I really transformed!" she exclaimed.

"Of course," replied the fairy, brightly, "Now you're a real magical girl!"

As much as Hikari wanted to take all of this in, there wasn't much time to do so. She had no idea what she could do, or how this hammer worked, but she had to try something to intervene... Hikari drew her hammer back over her shoulder...

"... Gaah, I screwed up... but I'll take you out!" declared Tsukimi, her attention focusing once again on Tokiko, "Take a good, long look! This is my Killing Needle: Death of the Deathle-"

She didn't complete her attack.

There was the sound of fireworks being set off, and Hikari suddenly rocketed in from the side! Her hammer slammed into the distracted Tsukimi, propelled by the fireworks like a rocket! It wasn't a particularly practiced attack, but all that was needed right now was force. The impact lifted the other girl off her feet and sent her hurtling through the air, slamming into the wall across the alley with enough force to break through it entirely!

Naoko, who had been pushing her strength against the monstergirl, was momentarily distracted by the sudden display of the new magical girl's abilities.

"Ohhh, so she's all about high impact too, huh?!" she declared, brightly, uncaring for the fact that another opponent had just been created, "You okay, Tsukimi-chan?"

Tsukimi, knocked completely senseless, wasn't exactly in a position to respond.

One moment, light was glowing at the tip of Tsukimi's spear, and Tokiko's hand was tense on her weapon, ready to respond to the opponent's attack...

...and the next, Hikari was bursting out of her magical bubble, now clad in the colors of fire and armed with a massive hammer. Tokiko had been expecting a transformation, but even so she found herself squinting in surprise. Her hair color changed! In comparison to Tsukimi's generic, cutesy costume and Tokiko's rather scrappy appearance, the redhead (for she was a redhead now) appeared radiant as the sun.

Better yet, she immediately turned her new power as a magical girl towards the task of finishing off the spear-wielder, which made things a great deal easier for the mad scientist.

"You should pay attention to your own fight!" In the blink of an eye Tokiko's arm snapped around, turning the electrodes of her Tesla Cannon towards Naoko. CRACK! Another bolt of electricity lit up the alleyway, passing over the monstergirl and striking the heavy spiked kanabo.

Unfortunately for 'Steel Rod' Naoko, steel was a good conductor of electricity, and her rod (which had been stuck pointing up in the air thanks to the monstergirl's efforts) now became a superhighway for Tokiko's attack, delivering the shock straight into the magical girl's body! Of course, even Tsukimi had managed to survive this attack, and there was no way it would take down someone like Naoko— but Tokiko didn't need the bolt to knock her out. She only needed to stun the opponent for a fraction of a second, and create an opportunity for Eve.

"RAAAAAAARGH!"

The instant Naoko was hit, the monstergirl shifted her hold and slammed the magical girl face-first into the asphalt, pinning her down and wrenching one arm up behind her back. The oni-themed warrior might have been strong and tough, but raw power alone wouldn't be enough to break her out of a submission hold!

"You got too cocky," Tokiko tutted, already charging her electric blaster for another shot. "If you're going to call me Sensei, then let this be your lesson, Naoko-chan. Against an opponent like me, you can't let yourself get distracted!"

Without looking away, she raised her voice. "You hear that, Hikari-kun? If you're going to be a fool and try to join our fight, then pay attention. That girl with the spear should have a little glass marble on her somewhere; you need to break it before she wakes up."

Himeko had not expected Nico to seriously consider the offer. Being a Shrine Maiden wasn't exactly synonymous with an illustrious life, and those who were interested, tended to quickly falter at the amount of work that actually went on behind-the-scenes. The miko watched her companion think hard upon it, finding herself wondering if it could work out. Obviously, she was oblivious to any hindrances Nico would face enlisting, but it was surprisingly appealing to think she could have a companion at the shrine. Himeko had no siblings, after all, so having someone close to her age to talk with (read: tease relentlessly)...

"Oh, no worries," Himeko responded when the other girl returned to this plane of existence, "come on now, unless you got no stamina, you're not a burden!" The bespectacled young woman had to note once more just how diligent Nico was, bowing to the torii once they passed. Even Himeko rarely bothered to remember such a thing, but it probably wouldn't do to have the city's most beloved and treasured shrine maiden - citation needed - skip out on that in the company of others. So she turned and offered a bow of her own, then continued on her way.

With Nico around, she couldn't exactly transform at a moment's notice, but that was fine. Himeko knew there were plenty of magical girls running around, so they could deal with any pressing issues. They'd be more suited to it, too, given the nature of Himeko's powers.
"Not to sway your decision or anything, but us shrine maidens have a guardian deity that only we can see!" Himeko claimed with a cheerful grin, devoid of a give-away playful tone, "this super-cute little fox that sleeps on top of the to-ah!"

So absorbed with her conversation, Himeko hadn't seen the tiny girl they crossed paths with until they collided. She was barely knocked off-course, but the other girl may not be so fortunate.
"Gosh, I'm sorry! You okay?"

Anya twitched, shaken from her thoughts by the other girl. She was very pretty with bright blue eyes and blonde hair- very unjapanese! Could it be… was she… a challenger?! Yes! Anya felt like squealing in joy. An end to the boredom and so soon! Anya sprang up like a spring and was inches for the other girl in a flash of youthful agility. Her mouth watered atb the chance of a fight. It felt odd getting this feeling about another human, especially considering how… tasty monsters tended to be. Would this girl be tasty she wondered? A chunk of flesh missing from her arm wouldn’t kill her; Anya would bet money on that. Her teeth sharpened in her mouth.

“Hi! Yeah I’m fine. More than fine now!” she giggled and felt her body begin to warm up as her passenger began to… stretch was the best word for it. “Are you here for…”

Careful, she may be normal.

Bitch! And like that her good mood was drowned in arctic waters like a baby seal. Damn her, he was right though. She willed her growing incisors back and the patches of scale growing under her body to do the same. It was always itchy downstairs when that happened! “Why are you put this late?” She looked up at the stars beginning to twinkle high up in the sky. Night was fast on its way. “You know it's dangerous for young ladies to be out this late in the park.”

Hypocrite.

Hypocrite with a dragon sharing her body, she shot back.

Fair point. He responded after a moment of silence.

Anya’s expression became deadly serious. “I mean it why are you out here at this hour?”

When Hikari landed on her feet, her entrance was made somewhat less impressive by the fact that she wasn't quite prepared to compensate for her hammer's bulk, and stumbled forward before getting control of herself. As she did, she managed to take another look at her transformed self, now that she'd taken out one enemy magical girls. The hammer... the back of the head, the dragon-shaped part, was billowing smoke. She'd heard a crack, like the sound of a firework being launched and exploding. Was that why she had suddenly gone rocketing through the air so quickly? Had the back of her hammer worked like some kind of rocket booster?!

If so, that... that was kind of awesome...

But she couldn't let herself be too distracted!

"Ah?! Uh, a marble? What? Why would there be..." she shook her head. It sounded important, so...!

Naoko sighed.

"Aah, man, it was so cool I lost track of what I was doing," she lamented, apparently not too dismayed at being stuck in a hold beneath the monstergirl. In fact... she was starting to grin.

"Well, enough laying around! Let me show you the Blazing Blood of the Oni!"

Suddenly, an intense, unbearable heat began to radiate from Naoko's body. Her skin began to glow, an overwhelming aura expanding from her... there was more than physical strength to Naoko's reputation!

"Waaaaaaaaaaaah!" Tokiko's pet monstergirl suddenly jumped away, her hands sizzling and smoking as if she'd stuck them into a fire. "Ai ai ai ai aiiiii!" She blew on her fingers, desperately trying to cool them down.

"Hey! Don't let go of her, you coward!" Tokiko scowled with irritation. Of course the oni girl would have an inconvenient power like that. Though now that it was just one opponent... "Fine then, I'll step it up a notch as well!" She beckoned to her Archetype. "Eve, get back here!"

"Uuuu..." The monstergirl looked quite put out by her master's anger, but nevertheless hopped quickly backwards, retreating from Naoko's heat and returning to Tokiko's side. "Arm!" the magical girl barked at her, and she extended one of her giant arms to the side, letting the mad scientist grab it and shift it into position. Without hesitation, Tokiko jabbed the electrodes of her Tesla cannon into Eve's skin.

"COMBIIIIINE!"

The electrical weapon came apart, just as the taser had before— but this time, rather than reassembling in midair, all the parts and pieces gathered around the monstergirl's hand, clicking into place in a configuration roughly resembling brass knuckles, with electrodes extending outward from Eve's fist.

"Go!" The metal probably wouldn't hold up for long against Naoko's heat, so they'd need to make this next shot count. Eve lunged forwards again, closing in on her opponent and drawing her upgraded left arm back, while her right arm was raised in front of her in a stiff guard. Tokiko, meanwhile, took the opportunity to shout over at Hikari. "You found it yet? Hurry up over there!"

This was what she got for not looking where she was going... knocked backwards and onto the ground. But at least her phone was safe, and someone had sent a message... that would have to wait a minute, though. She'd probably inconvenienced the other person, and it wasn't like any harm was done; she tripped over often enough that she even dressed expecting it... though that was also probably her fault. Good knots were hard to tie.

But rather than just another student, she'd walked into the shrine maiden...? Ah, how could this have gone worse? If there was anyone that wanted to spread the knowledge that Hanako was completely incapable of wathcing where she was going, it would be her! So many people went to the shrine and it would only take a few for everyone to know and start gossiping! She'd even been there a few times herself, though prayer obviously didn't solve life's problems.

Hanako scrambled to her feet, already starting to bow and apologise profusely--and a bit excessively. "Ah, well.. Yukimura Himeko-sama... I'm sorry for getting in your way, it won't happen again..."

Nico was looking at Himeko as the latter explained the guardian deity to her, awe-struck by the idea.

"Really? It only shows itself to shrine maidens? What kind of Deity is it?" she asked. Nico patiently awaited the older girl's response while her light steps made her bob up and down. Himeko began to explain and because of Nico's eagerness to listen she awaited every word with bated breath. Of course, because of this anticipation the girl failed to notice her companion being in a direct collision course with another person, making Nico flinch and jump back once it had happened.

"Ah... are you two alright?"

Nico watched as the smaller of the two scrambled up and started to profusely apologise to Himeko, noticing that the girl seemed familiar. Nico looked around and saw she wasn't too far removed from her school, with the girl who was previously on the floor being really short and having white hair that drooped all the way down to her waist.

"Aren't you Hanako-san?" Nico asked, recognizing the girl being from a different class. She looked back up to Himeko as well, taking note of the honorific which was used. Both of them shared the same last name, but they couldn't be sisters right? Siblings aren't this formal with each-other, usually...

"Do you two know each other, Yuki- Himeko-san?" Nico asked, switching to her first name to avoid confusion.

"I'm going already!" snapped Hikari, her attention fixing on the downed magical girl. Right! Some kind of glass orb or something like that? The redheaded hammer-wielder sprinted towards Tsukimi, prepared to smash anything that looked even remotely like what Tokiko had mentioned. Hikari had no idea what it could possibly be, but there had to be something to it when another magical girl had been so adamant about it, right? Though that fairy hadn't explained a thing...

Naoko hopped to her feet.

"Aaah, jeez, now it's going that way?" she complained, "As much as I'd love to keep fighting, it's waaaay too early for anyone to be knocked outta the Hex Night, it's way too anticlimactic! My blood just isn't burning up any more thinking about it!"

The glow faded, but Naoko was off like a shot. Before Hikari could locate any sort of glass marble, the oni magical girl swung her kanabo towards her. With only a split second to use her hammer to block, the new magical girl was sent flying with a yelp of shock. She hit the ground further down the alleyway, rolling once before ending up on her front.

"Sorry about my friend, she's scared she'll lose," added Naoko, hoisting the senseless Tsukimi up on one shoulder as she spoke, "I'd stick around 'n fight, but I gotta get her home!"

With that, Naoko leaped into the air, landing on a nearby rooftop and sprinting across it.

At her current rate, it seemed unlikely anyone would catch up.

Hikari was being slow, but it didn't matter: Tokiko had this fight in the bag. Just a few moments more, and Naoko would taste the power of the TESLA ☆ P—

No, wait, why was she running away?! "Hey! Get back here, I'm not finished with you yet!" Tokiko sprinted off in pursuit of Naoko, snatching up her backpack along the way, but it was already too late. Where Oni had a reputation for their strength, mad scientists were known for being physically weak, and this carried over to Tokiko's magical girl form. Before she even got halfway down the alleyway, she was panting from the exertion, her gait wobbly and unbalanced.

Damnit! She was too slow to stop Naoko from reaching the other magical girls, and could only watch in horror as the enemy made a massive swing with her kanabo.

"Hi... HIKARI!!!"

Something rushed past her, a streak of green and grey. Her Archetype, sensing an order in her shout, and obeying with monstrous strength and speed.

Ignoring Naoko, the monstergirl raced to where Hikari had fallen, screeching to a halt and kneeling down with a frown of concern. Her massive hands carefully reached out and lifted the magical girl off the ground, then set her gently back on her feet.

Tokiko was only just catching up. "Hikari! Are you okay?" Slowing to a halt, she looked the brightly-clad girl up and down. Hikari seemed relatively uninjured— either she was incredibly tough, or she'd managed to block Naoko's attack. "You're... you're okay!" For a moment, just a moment, a smile appeared on Tokiko's features. Not a maddened grin or a sadistic smirk, but a real, genuine smile of relief.

And then one second later she was back to her usual self. "You dummy! Dimwit! Blockhead! Now they've gotten away!" She paced back and forth, gesturing angrily. "I told you not to become a magical girl! Don't you know what would have happened if you'd gotten hit by that attack? You could have gotten hurt! And now maybe you will get hurt, because you're a magical girl and it's Hex Night and everyone's going to be coming after you!" She grimaced, her fingers digging into her hair. "And it's all your fault! Those girls came to get you, and you got me all wrapped up in your dumb fight! And you'd better be thankful for that, since if it wasn't for me you'd be in an ambulance right now! Not that it was worth my effort saving a dummy like you..."

Tokiko didn't seem like she was about to stop, and her rant might continue for ages if she wasn't interrupted. Beside Hikari, the monstergirl was yawning, apparently used to seeing her master blow up like this.

It didn’t take her long to get home to change into something more comfortable and get some food. She checked the chat while eating and frowned at the messages from Hanaka.

Himeko maintained a slightly confused smile as Hanako apologised desperately for the minor blunder. The poor girl was knocked to the ground, yet now she was bowing and acting like she'd stepped on the toes of someone actually important. Sure, a lot of older folk may have spoken to her with a hint of reverence, but surely even they knew she was no more than a normal young woman!
Naturally, Himeko wanted to tease this cute girl a little, but it seemed a little too cruel for the moment. Before she could reassure the smaller girl, Nico seemed to recognise her. Come to think of it, the girl did seem familiar. Given her iunuque sense of dress, the shrine maiden felt a little silly for not clicking earlier, but at least Nico was kind enough to provide a new opportunity.

Putting on her brightest smile, Himeko confidently declared, "yes, actually. Hanako-chan here is actually my estranged sister, who chose to wander the country in search of enlightenment!"
Himeko had never caught Hanako's surname, so the extra little coincidence was lost on her, but that didn't stop the bespectacled lady throwing an arm around the smaller girl's shoulders, pretending to dab at her eyes, beneath the rims of her glasses, "we haven't seen each other in so long... oh, how I missed her~"

For a few moments, as she was lifted to her feet by the huge green girl, Hikari was still kind of stunned. The blow from Naoko's kanabo had rocked her arms and sent her flying, she'd never been met with something like that before. This was a day of new experiences for the small, currently red-headed girl, it seemed.

But when Tokiko started yelling at her...

"... Grrr... what was I supposed to do!?" she snapped, "You were getting attacked by two other magical girls! After stepping in to protect me! Would you prefer if I just sat and watched while you got overwhelmed and beat up?!"

Hikari paused for a moment, small, delicate hands clenched into fists. She didn't need to be treated like this after stepping in to try and help! Besides, how could she have passed up the opportunity she'd been given? Not that she'd admit to her desire to be something like a magical girl. What was the fight all about, anyway?

"Besides, why are magical girls fighting anyway?! What's this whole Hex Night thing about?!" she cried.

Suddenly, the fairy from before seemed to reappear.

"The Hex Night is a chance for every magical girl to obtain their very own wish!" she declared, brightly, with a smile. It was at that moment that yet another magical girl showed up.

"... How many magical girls are in Tokyo, anyway?!" Hikari asked, looking around at the others.

"Well, a large city needs more magical girls to protect it, so there's quite a lot!" explained the fairy, "On top of that, there's other girls showing up for the Hex Night."

"Would you prefer if I just sat and watched while you got overwhelmed and beat up?!"

"Hmph!" Tokiko crossed her arms and raised her chin, looking down at the shorter girl from beneath the rims of her glasses. "Saying something like that just shows how little you know. Even if they teamed up against me, I'd never lose to an enemy of that level." She paused, glancing away. "T-though... I mean... I guess it's nice that you wanted to help..."

Her mumbling was interrupted as her Archetype suddenly growled, and Tokiko turned around to find that someone else had arrived on the scene. Instantly, her mean expression was back. "What, are you going to attack her as well?" Her eyes narrowed. "Go on, try it. I'll wipe the floor with you just like I did with those other two jerks!"

Sonya leaned on the Key as the demonic looking metallic tail flicked back and forth like a cat's. She stared at the pair, focusing on each in turn.

“You two against me? That hardly seems fair.”

She glanced at the girl with the hammer again before focusing on the Mad Scientist.

“You look out of breath and the new girl still doesn't look much better, I don't go for the easy ones. And speaking of her, you still haven't answered my question.”

She tapped her thumb expectantly on the haft of the axe, otherwise motionless except for the restless tail.
