Location Headmistresses Quarters
Time Late Into The Night
Interactions ▶ Mystery

"Miss Woods, how are you this fine evening?"

The deep tone startled the brunette woman, her heart skipping a beat as she glanced over to the plush chesterfield chair that was settled in the corner of the room, a shadowed figure lounged and basked in the comfort of being hidden from view. Her initial fear settled as she realized who is was, her lips curling into a look of displeasure. "Spare me the pleasantries, what do you want?" she demanded, she did not like being intruded upon at such late an hour. The figure let out an impatient sigh, shaking their head before speaking. "So hostile, I simply want to know how your precious students are doing, it's been an entire week since the festivities have started and we wish to know how things fare." Charille let out a short laugh as she crossed her arms over her chest, lifting a brow quizzically. "Cut the crap, I know what you want to know and like I told you before, it will take some time. We have to observe, we don't want to screw up again. You know what happened last time, it completely backfired on us."

The figure was silent almost as if they were contemplating her words. "I suppose you are right but we are growing impatient, or rather the others are." The Headmistress turned her head to stare out the window that overlooked the entire university. "Then tell them the same thing I'm telling you, wait. Perfection takes time and like I said before - we don't want another screw up."

Silence ensued for several moments before the deep tone echoed through the dark room, "Then we wait. However Miss Woods make sure that it goes right this time, we will not tolerate another failure." The figure seemed to fade into nothingness, as if they hadn't really been there at all. Charille stared at the empty chair for awhile before getting to her feet and moving to the window, no...she could not fail again.

Karina was up even before the loud church bell began to toll, it's massive tone echoing and sounding through the entire school. She wasn't sure why she had woken up so early but was glad, it gave the girl time to have the showers all to herself before a flood of screaming women came running through. It felt amazing to just relax in the calming waters of the public bath that all the girls shared, however once she did hear the bell Karina made sure to wrap it up, she really didn't feel like interacting with anyone. Besides she needed to make sure she looked her best, there was no way she was going to let Alistair see her looking like a hot mess...even if he really didn't pay her attention.

As the girl's began to move about Karina was already shuffling into the large space in which all of them slept, quickly she slipped into her private little hole, bringing the think velvet curtain shut for privacy.

"You'd think with all the money they had they could afford to give us actual rooms."

While that point had been brought up on multiple occasions the school claimed that sharing a living space brought the Witches closer together. A Witch could only trust another Witch, so why hide anything from each other? Karina still thought it was idiotic.

"Hey Rina, can I borrow a hair clip?"

A familiar red-head popped her head into Karina's space, vivid emerald eyes looking her up and down with obvious interest. "Agh! Get out of here!" She cried, she was stark naked save for the bra she had just put on. Karina grabbed a pillow and tossed it at the head though only landed on curtain as the head retreated. Several giggles could be heard and Karina frowned, couldn't Heather and her junkies find someone else to bother?

Hurriedly she dressed herself and grabbed her book bag before fleeing from the waking girls, she wanted no part in anymore shenanigans. Besides the early bird gets the worm when it came to breakfast, being late meant you were getting oatmeal, get to the cafeteria early and you got the hot and ready buffet. Once she got there she got a plate of waffles and some yogurt before settling down at one of the tables, people who passed by completely ignored her. She didn't have the best reputation, she was "Too blunt" or "rude". It wasn't her fault, she'd been taught to never hold back her feelings or thoughts. Guess she had to earn the title "Ice Princess" somehow.

But that title was also a downfall, Karina wanted friends but because people thought she was "cold" no on wanted to approach her. She sighed as she moved the waffles around on her plate.

Meredith had begun her daily routine at around 4:30 in the morning, which was eariler than usual, but of course once she woke up, falling back asleep was impossible. And let alone, she valued her privacy but these velvet cutains were certainly not fulfilling that need, and not to mention a whole fucking house that she shared with so many other people (which she knew it wasn't, but it might of well have been) was rather...unpleasant, to say in the very least. She felt as if she were in a goddamned orphange, but she shouldn't think that because that would be insulting the orphanage. She definetly wasn't used to living in such close quaters with anyone else, so leaving as quickly as possible before things really shook up was her top priority, though she was out of luck as only an hour later did the others began to wake up as well.

Sighing, she sat on the couch and as quickly as possible, made sure she had all of her belongings that she needed for that day, checking of her list of "Needed" and "Not Really Important But Just In Case", flipping through her books and other miscellaneous items that sat in her bag. Lost in thought, Meredith jumped slightly as the church bell began to toll, which only made her furrow her eyebrows and sigh louder. Taking a deep breath, she pulled her stuff over her shoulder and left for breakfast, giving not a word to anyone as she passed them.

Some time had passed before she actually made it to the cafeteria; Meredith had ended up getting lost on the way there, accidentaly drifting around trying to find her other classes on rhe way there, which she ultimately regretted. Looking around, she scanned the area for somewhere to sit before her eyes landed on a singular woman, who didn't seem to be waiting on anyone. She paused for a moment before walking over there, realizing that she had forgotten her name. Or did she even know her name? Oh well.

Striding over to her, Meredith stood across from her and said, "I'm sitting here," then she sat her things down and pulled out a premade salad, which she believed was healthier than the waffles that sat on the woman's plate across from her. She didn't exactly trust this school's food yet, let alone their vegetarian options. "You seem like the only sane person here. I'm Meredith," she introduced, giving a small nod of her head.

Jo slept in her boxer briefs in a wife's beater sleeveless shirt. Her hair was ruffled, and her cheeks were filled with lines from the sheets. She woke up hearing the bell of the church, and stood up, stretching while giving a soft grunt. She looked around to see who was still in the room. Jo was the kind to have massive confidence, so she felt no need to hide behind some curtains. She enjoyed the hassle of everyone. She dragged herself from bed, grabbed her towel which hung on the wall that was part of her "Cubicle" and a small basket with her toiletries, while rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand.

She got to the shared baths, and grabbed a free sink, and started washing up. She arranged her hair, putting some cream on it to stay the way she managed it, then brushed her teeth, washed her face, and spritzed some deodorant. Yup, I am ready alright! She thought to herself, and headed back to her bed. She changed there, not really caring who might be looking. She took the wife beater off, exposing her upper part, and looked in the mirror. Putting on a pair of skinny pants with rips at the knee, a sleeveless shirt with some patterns of lips in black and white on the front, and a mustard color blazer. she grabbed her bag, and went to the cafeteria.

She looked around to see if anyone wanted her company. Should no one wave at her (be it for not wanting her company, or not being there yet) she would sit in a vacant table, after grabbing some scrambled eggs, bread, and a mount of fresh veggies with olive oil and salt on them.

Exhale.

Imani inhaled sharply, her hands reaching up behind her head, fingers interlaced with one another as her early morning run slowed now into a walk. She started her day usually somewhere around 5:00 AM and would go for half hour runs. This action was to keep herself in shape, but mostly to get pumped for the day ahead of her. She usually didn't like early mornings, but found that ever since attending Raindale that if you started your day off too late, you'd miss a lot of the action- as well as the warm water in the shower. Something Imani feared greatly.

Returning to the girl's dorm, Imani took a shower scrubbing off the grime and sweat of the morning and the night's sleep before. She slipped into something comfortable, a pair of jeans and a burnt orange wrap-style top. Continuing her normal routine she decided to go for a unnaturally natural look. A smirk formed on her lips, she wasn't sure why she bothered to do all this besides having some fun for herself. She didn't like spending too much time in the sleeping quarters; she enjoyed the company but sometimes it was too much noise and time to yourself was non-existent. But alas, she needed to grab her shoes (a pair of black flats), her backpack (orange), as well as a light weight black sweater in case it became too cold.

The first bell's toll came to Imani while she was finishing putting product in her hair and placing it on top of her head in curls. She headed quickly to the cafeteria to get herself something breakfast. Being lactose intolerant was something that made meal planning a little more challenging. Sure, Imani could suffer through any of the delicious treats, but at what cost? A trip or several to the bathrooms all day? She'd rather not.

Looking over the items up for grabs, and the several questions if the item contained dairy she settled with a bowl of oatmeal that was garnished with a handful of mixed fruits and nuts. Most of the time oatmeal was saved for people who didn't want to participate in the breakfast buffet due to sleeping in, but today Imani opted for the delicious goop. She got a hearty 3 slices of toast that she cut into 6 halves and spread margarine and a strawberry jam onto. She dipped the toast into the side of the bowl so she would have a free hand, as she looked for a seat.

Spotting a familiar face, she called out to Jo, "Morning Jo'" she sang sweetly, her southern tone coming through at the roots of her voice. She pulled out one of the chairs and took a seat directly across from Jo so that the two could see one another versus sitting right next to. "This seems like the closest thing to grits I'll ever get around here." she laughed slightly, picking up one of the toasts she haphazardly had placed in her bowl and bringing it to her lips and taking a bite.

Jo half smirked at Imani as she sat next to her. "Morning Imani."
She looked her up and down before Imani sat, and her smirk grew a bit. "Gotta love that orange, huh? It suits you alright... I like what did with your hair by the way."

She began eating her scrambled eggs, a decent amount at that, then munched on carrots and peppers sticks.
"What's your schedule for t'day? I got me some double class." and she sat back at that.
Double class meant she had to be in two different classroom on the same time. She was given a special artifact to go back in time and solve that particular fuck-up.

The alarm bell came early for Camille. Far too early, in point of fact, and the young witch got up grumbling and cussing. Not cursing, though- that was something altogether different, as she could very well attest to. She threw on a light pink skirt and a white top, and as she got used to the idea of being awake at this ungodly hour, her mood slowly began to improve. By the time she made down to the cafeteria she was almost smiling, though the key word in this statement was almost.

Grabbing a plate of eggs and sausage, Camille took a seat by herself. If someone came and joined her, that was alright by her, and if she ate alone, well, that was okay, too. She didn't know anybody here yet, after all.

Nadia was up as soon as she heard the peal of the morning bells. She was awakened to a fluster of bustle in the room, filled with the voices of various other girls talking. It was then that she remembered that she was no longer at home anyhome, but back at the Raindale University for Witches for the second year. This was just one of the things that reaffirmed why she loved being here so much. Instead of waking up in peaceful quiet in a large and mostly empty mansion, the lass not woke herself up to plenty of others in this room that she shared with so many others. The thought of that simply made her excited with glee. Privacy was not something that was that important to her, and she revelled in the sights of others changing and stripping their clothes in plain sight.

As girls continued to stream in and out of the room from the toilets, Nadia hastily grabbed her toiletries and started to head to the washroom herself. She was already starting to realise that waking up so late was not ideal, as plenty of others had also done so, and the toilet was terribly crowded and noisy from all the chatter going on at the same time. She'd forgotten all about that. Finally securing herself an unoccupied spot at a sink, she began to brush her teeth and wash her face, before tiding up the rest of her appearance.

Once she returned to her bed, she began to dress herself without a care of who was nearby. Properly dressed, she grabbed her bag and joined the stream of others heading towards breakfast. Once she was in the cafeteria, a quick glance told her that it was simple breakfast fare, and she got herself a place of two cheese toasted bread, and a bowl of yogurt before looking around for a place to sit. Her gaze locked onto a familiar sight, that of another Russian, she believed called Karina. Making a beeline to her table, Nadia placed her plate down onto the table and took seat next to her. "Privyet Karina! Had a good sleep?" The lass was a smiles now, her mood buoyed by the joy and enthusiasm of simply being here in Raindale in her second year. She was really hoping that she would do better this year.

Maxwell was not fond of the morning bell. He had never been one for mornings. Begrudgingly opening his eyes, and rolling out of bed. "Wanda, its time to get up." He said as he rolled out of bed. Basically, just falling, face down onto the ground. Just before he hit the ground, his fall slowed to a halt. Before he was gently placed on the ground. "Your getting slow." He said as he stood up. Sighing, he stretched out. With a flourish of his fingers, the wand that was sitting on his bedside table flew into his hand. He gently waved the wand around his face. As he did, the dark crystal end of the wand began to glow softly. As he passed the wand over the lover half of his face, the stubble that had grown overnight simply fell out. Energy washed over him, cleaning him. By passing the wand over his hair, it pushed his hair back, styling it. It was a simple spell he had learned before his time at Raindale. A spell to help get ready for the day, without having to spend time in the shower. He typically slept in little more than just underpants, which he changed before putting on a pair of jeans. Coupled with a grey shirt that said 'Give the Gift of Life, Be a Necromancer.'

Maxwell Johnston tucked the wand up behind his ear, like a pencil. He tapped the base of the wand. "Wanda, lets dance.". With that, a chartreuse energy tendril encircled his head. Fading into invisibility. What happened next was a little strange, but it was part of how he got ready in the morning. The Dolly Parton song, '9 to 5' played around Maxwell. He took the wand out from behind his ear and waved it in front of his throat. a glowing symbol superimposed itself on his throat. It was there for about a second before fading. Maxwell started moving to the beat. Singing along to the eighties song. as he moved around his cubical getting his stuff ready for the day.

Around halfway through the song, he left his cubical, and started dancing through the dorm room, and out towards cafeteria. Singing and dancing the whole way there.
By the time he made it to the cafeteria, the song had ended, and Maxwell had returned his wand to its resting place behind his ear. As he walked in, he had a smile on his face. "Your getting better, Wanda." He complimented his familiar as he looked for a place to sit. Figuring he should get some food before it is all gone, he grabbed a plate and got the last of the eggs. It was a shame he had shown up late and made a point to make sure he was going to be their faster next time. Turning back, he decided to take a seat with Imani and Jo. Sliding, rather graciously, he thought, into a seat at their table, he placed his plate on the table. "Morning Ladies. I didn't steal someone's spot, did I?"

Karina quietly sat at her table, nibbling on the butter and syrup covered waffles. Since no one had made any attempt to sit with her yet she had decided to take out her cellphone and began to scroll through the different social media apps that she had, just lazily looking at pointless pictures of animals. It startled her when she heard someone speak and sit down across from her. Karina looked up from her device to see a girl with blonde hair, she looked vaguely familiar however she couldn't put a name to her face. They had one or two classes together the year before and she felt terrible for not remembering her name. "Oh...okay." She honestly was caught off guard and was trying to process a good response. "I'm Karina...why do I seem sane? Everyone else here seems like decent enough." She asked curiously. Did she stand out compared to others? Sure she had a hard time interacting with people but surely that couldn't be seen from just a glance....could it? Suddenly the Russian began to worry that maybe she was putting off bad vibes or something. Then again perhaps she meant she wasn't like the rest of the girls here, screaming and gossiping children who couldn't help but to get into other people's business. Karina had experienced that on more than one occasion last year, people kept trying to pry into her personal life even though she didn't give them any inkling that she wanted people to know about her.

It wasn't long though before another person decided to join her, though this one she was more familiar with. "Dobroe utro, Nadia. As well as one can sleep in a room filled with annoying girls....aside from you guys though." She scrambled to say the last part to include Meredith and Nadia, the last thing she needed was to insult someone in the first week. Karina once again began to slowly pick at her food, taking small bites of the yogurt and letting it melt in her mouth. "What's your guys' day looking to be? We're starting to learn the basics of why we use familiars in summoning, I think it's pretty interesting." She said, she was trying very hard to hold her tongue and to not go on a random tangent. She had a bad habit of just going on and on about the things she liked, she just got so excited that she couldn't help herself sometimes. "Are you guys taking any classes that your excited about?" She decided to ask a simple question, one that included them both. She wanted to make friends.

This year Karina wanted to have people she could take to. The year before had been hard and honestly very lonely, even though she had tried what she thought was best to make friends it simply backfired. Apparently "Being yourself" wasn't the right way to go about things - in the end all she had done was given herself a not-so-great reputation. When her mother had asked her if she had friends she had lied and told her she had made a bunch, her parents still disapproved of her leaving so she didn't want to give them any grounds to chastise her. As if feeling her nervousness Volkier seemed to appear out of nowhere, bumping her hand from underneath the table. She let out a small gasp, she had expected the wolf to stay outside since he seemed to dislike crowds. Karina smiled a little and patted the canine on the head, "Thanks Volkier" she said telepathically to him. "Don't worry, rebenok. You will do fine this year, don't hide who you really are. You would only be lying to yourself and those around you if you did."

While that was true she wasn't sure if it would work....but she would do what her familiar said. Volkier slid out from under the table, being careful to avoid the other female's legs and sat behind Karina, laying his large head on her lap quietly. Karina patted his head while she looked up to Meredith and Nadia with a smile, feeling much better about talking with them.

Feet hit the cold floor as Evanora's arms stretched high into the air, a loud yawn coming from her mouth. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, the young witch trudged over to the window in her small curtained enclosure, pulling back the shades to let in the light of dawn. She sighed loudly, looking out onto the campus before getting ready for the day. Grabbing a shower caddy, towel, and her robe, Evanora made her way to the showers. She had the same routine every time, conditioner, shampoo, then wash her body. It was weird, but doing the conditioner first helped keep her hair from getting greasy fast.

Once getting out and drying off, she threw her hair up into a towel and tossed on her robe, heading back to her small sectioned off area of the girls dormitory. Tap tap tap. Evanora hit her nail against the dresser beside the small bed her snake Finn slept on, waking the small reptile. The small aqua colored snake awoke to wrap itself around her wrist, while she picked out her clothes for the day. Just a plain skirt, a long sleeved white button up, and a cream coloured vest.

And with that, Evanora grabbed her Book of Shadows, a pen, and made her way out the dormitory. The book was well kept, though clearly had some wear and tear. On the front in a beautiful golden font was her family name. She kept it close at all times, and very rarely showed its contents to anyone.

Evanora's heels clicked on the tile floor of the academy as she made her way to the cafeteria. Tucking her book under her arm she grabbed a plate and loaded it with eggs, whole wheat toast, fruit, all kinds of healthy foods, and then her eyes scanned the room. Slowly seats and tables were filling up, and Evanora began to silently panic. She had yet to really meet anyone, let alone make friends. More often than not the young woman would try to come as early as possible, so she could sit alone and people would sit around her if need be. But this time she hadn't made it as early as she would have liked. She made her way over to a table with three other girls, two of which she recognized from one of her classes. Meredith... I think.. from Astral Projection and Divination.. the other is from Divination too but I can't remember her name for the life of me... She sat about a seat away from the small group, opening her Book of Shadows, Finn slithering onto her shoulder as she began with her eggs and reviewing her book.

“The early bird gets the worm.”

Ozzy repeated those words to himself over and over again since being up before the beautiful sun rose and graced the campus of Raindale with its golden brilliance. He was even up before the clouds broke for that first crack of pre-sunlight. He couldn’t recall when exactly his eyes first opened and he went to shower and groom his hair enough to be presentable. He not only made a break from out of the male dormitory but the always friendly, always morning person Ozzy Marinos made a break for the forest where he knew a special friend of his was waiting for him.

Walking to the center of the woods, Ozzy raised up his left arm-- the dominant one -- and with it, came specs of green following the motions he made. He did this a few times with both arms and before long, the roots of the trees surrounding him began to slowly rise. It was to the point where semi-thick roots spawned into a few others and as he twisted his body, turning around a few times until he found a dancing rhythm, a small wall of wooden branches had formed around him.

And then, as he brought his arms back close to him, bent elbows and all, he pushed his arms forward and in a split second, the exact opposite happened. Instead of the wall of wood following his motion, Ozzy saw them crumble into dirt that covered his black dress shoes. It even got on his button-up shirt and his slacks.

“Well, that was a bust!” The always supportive voice of his familiar said, appearing from behind a tree about three feet away from Ozzy and his pile of dirt. “Were you trying to harm these trees again?” Spiked asked, taking a seat in front of Ozzy and on the dirt, the distinct noise of something the caucasian warlock knew all too well: a burst of air from his behind.

“You caught me. I saw that in last year’s advanced textbook and I managed to memorize it. I just can’t get the timing down.” Despite his failure, Ozzy spoke rather positively. “Ah, well a task for another time.”

Spike shook his head. “Of the time I’ve known you, you’ve never shown anger for your failures. Why is that?” Asked his familiar, perplexed at his master.

“Well, Spike, this is how I see it: I know that the next time will be better. So I don’t get mad; I just achieve to be better.”

It was clear that Ozzy’s positivity was annoying him. “You’re weird, Ozzy. But I suppose that comes with the territory of being you,” Spike laughed, getting up and proceeding to walk back. “You better hurry up. Doesn’t breakfast start right about now?”

“Oh!”

Ozzy couldn’t believe just how much time passed. From how long it took him to travel to the forest and then prepare the spell, he had completely spaced on the time. The sun was already out, so he knew he had to hurry it up. His legs carried him as fast as they could. Luckily for Ozzy, his stamina was one of the things about him that made him an impressive young man. He could sprint for close to five minutes without losing any steam, but he pushed himself to seven minutes and the rest was a steady jog.

As he came to the view of the campus, he knew where he was. The girl’s dormitory was to his left and if he went through their side of the courtyard, he could casually waltz into the cafeteria with just enough time for his lungs to catch up with his brain’s desire to get food.

As the young warlock came to the cafeteria filled with students, most of them looking less alive than he knew them to be. But then again, waking up so early would do that to even the most of the early risers. Ozzy himself was starting to feel the early morning catch up to him. But thank the heavens for it being hashbrown day! He sure loved them.

With food on his mind, Ozzy whisked away to the line, carrying himself a plate, and getting the regular of breakfast items: a hashbrown patty, three maple sausage links, some scrambled eggs, and an apple to keep the witch doctor away. Pair that with some sweet, hazelnut coffee and Ozzy was a happy camper.

And speaking of camping! The man found a spot at a table with some people he recognized, though the awkwardness soon set in when he saw Imani. But, like all Marinos men he was, if nothing else, chill about a lot. After giving her a smile, he chose to join the table where two beautiful ladies such as Karina, Meredith, and Nadia were sitting at. “Well, good morning ladies!” His smile was wide as he took a seat relatively near them. “I hope you two slept well. I, myself, got up before our dearest sun did.” He spoke mindlessly as he took a sip of his coffee with a bite of pork sausage to nurture his throat with its grease.

Taking another bite of her salad, Meredith watched through squinted eyes as more people approached their table, not taking the almost obvious hints that she was attempting to throw at them through small glares and uncomfortable shifts in her seat. She began to feel a little overwhelmed already, but she covered it with a sigh, straightening herself to look a bit more intimidating, though it was difficult considering she was 5'1 exactly and looked a bit young for her age.

Turning back to Karina, as she found out, Meredith tilted her head slightly, taking a moment to respond to her question. "Well, I was trying to bring up something, you know-." She blinked a few times before finishing her sentence. "-For conversation purposes. You wouldn't want me to just sit here without saying a word, yes? Making it awkward for the both of us?" Meredith asked rhetorically, with a hint of sarcasm on her voice before she gave a small cough as she realized it. It was a bad habit she was trying her best to break, if you count "trying her best" as "barely trying", which was a more accurate term. She didn't really know Karina, nor Nadia, whom she seemed familiar with, but Meredith certainly was not, pursing her lips at the woman's early morning optimism.

"Ah, er, hello there. You're Nadia I'm assuming? Since that's what Karina adressed you as," Meredith waved her hand before resting it on her lap again. "Not sure if you're aware already, but I'm Meredith," she greeted yet another person, before once again turning back to Karina. "Hmm, I don't necessarily believe 'excited' is the right description," she said, pausing. "Maybe try...I dunno, 'indifferent', perhaps? They're just like normal classes, but with a hint of magic, which I suppose is more fun. Some of the teachers though are rather irritating, and it's not gonna be long before someone get their ass kicked, but-," she shrugged. "-It's pretty neat overall. I only have like, two classes during the day, so I have a whole lot of free time," also not realizing the wolf that had gone and sat behind Karina, but noticing the snake that had slithered onto the other woman's shoulder; the one who had sat a seat away from them. Meredith looked at it for a moment, interested.

And then as she began to ease up a little, yet another person approached with an overall optimistic disposition, which don't get her wrong, she didn't have anything against it, just that she wasn't nearly in the mood this early in the morning. Turning her head towards him, she said, "Excuse me, but please don't. Just-," she sighed, tilting her head, a tad annoyed now. "-No."

Swallowing, Imani waited until her mouth was completely empty of food. "Thank you Jo, you're always so sweet to me." she cooed softly, looking at what Jo had decided for breakfast. It looked delicious and healthy, she thought about copying it tomorrow even- something different from the usual. She continued to dip her toast in the oatmeal, using her spoon to shovel a hearty bite of the oats and fruit onto the toast like vessel before putting it to her lips. She was just now starting to feel a little bit better about the morning, feeling her positive attitude shift into gear before turning into a serious study mode once classes started.

"Oh no, that is terrible!" Imani commented about Jo being scheduled for multiple classes at once. She had that happen once before but they just arranged her classes around, because she complained enough. "Hmm, let's see I have Herbology with you of course coming up here first, followed by Healing and Divination, nothing too drastic." she chimed, using a napkin to pat her lips from the crumbs of the toast.

Maxwell found himself a seat at their table and Imani returned an answer to his statement, "Oh no! You're not taking anyone's seat. Morning Max." she gave him a slight nod of the head looking at his breakfast as well, curiously. Eggs were such a staple for breakfast food, and she kind of regretted not getting some for herself. "We were just talking about what classes we were looking at this year, I don't think we have any together though." she gave a small pout, looking to Max and then to Jo expressively.

Jo grinned at Imani. "Keeping it real." She nodded and shrugged. She smiled at Max and gave a little wave with her fingers wiggling about "Morning Max.".

Jo nodded at Imani's schedule - She knew they had Herbology together. She was rather keen for it too. For the together part more then the Herbology part. Anyone who knew Jo could tell she had quite the infatuation with Imani. She munched on a celery stick, looking between the two, then sideways, noting who sat with whom.

"So... I'm open for business, right? you two hear anyone needing any potion, you tell them to come to me, right? God knows I could use the cash." she nodded, cracking a few knuckles.

Dana woke at the same time as the bell, but not because of the bell. He woke because this is the time that the school woke. For the first few seconds of his consciousness, he could feel everyone in the building rousing themselves. This only lasted the briefest of moments before he returned to himself.

His eyes fluttered openand he got out of bed, humming along as a Dolly Parton song played from somewhere else in the dorm. When he stepped outside, the rasping croak of Crow came from up on the roof, picking up the song from where it left off when the other student had left the dorm before Dana did.

He walked into the cafeteria, and piled a plate with fruit and bacon(he barely touched grains, personally), and peered around the room. He wasn't one to put much thought into where he sat, or who with, but he saw Imani sitting with Jo, and remembered he'd been meaning to speak to her.

Serendipitously, as he approached she was discussing exactly what he needed from her.

"So... I'm open for business, right? you two hear anyone needing any potion, you tell them to come to me, right? God knows I could use the cash."

"Well, gods know I have the cash to burn," he said as he sat nearby. "Think you can whip something up for me?"

Mainly he knew her through Imani, but her business made her easy enough to approach.

She looked at Dana, and her smile grew at his words, rubbing her hands together. She nodded a couple of times "Sure thing man, whatever you need, I will make it for you. How can I be of service today?"

She took out the long twisted silver made stirrer, and held the spoon part close to her ear, letting it whisper all sorts of things.
~You know what this Dana person wants? I know.... I know!
She shook her head slowly, rubbing the stirrer softly, propping it to tell her
~Ask him... Ask him about the bacon.... Ask him!
She wrinkled her nose. Sometimes, her stirrer was so dramatic.

"Er.... why is it you took bacon for breakfast? trying to keep away from grains and carbs?"

She blushed a bit. She only did what her familiar had told her, but sometimes, it felt so weird to actually do it. She raised her left hand defensively. "Its... It needs to know." and she gestures the stirrer.

Dana blinked at her, a strip of bacon halfway to his mouth.

"Alright, I'm getting called out by a spoon. I just like to eat things that are closer to their natural state. Bread takes so many different changes before you eat it. Movin' on. I want a owl's eyes, and a hound dog's nose." This was a simple enough request in general. Baby's First Magic, even. Except there was that pesky Law of Equivalent Exchange. "Trick is this: I can't lose my sense of touch, or my sense of taste. It can make me deaf, take away my balance, but I need to be able to feel and taste."

Senses were simple things, and typically when a practitioner wants to increase one, another has to be decreased in exchange. Like many pieces of magic, one could get the desired effect and then worry about the cost later, but Dana couldn't afford that now.

"Probably I could do it myself, but I can't risk accidentally numbing my hands or tongue."

"~`Ask him how long... how long he want it to last!"

Jo nodded both at the stirrer and Dana, and swirled the stirrer in her hand, tilting her head, looking at Dana closely.
"May I ask... Who is the lucky.... person?" a mischievous and knowing smile crept to her lips, and she looked at Imani with some amusement in her eyes, while taking a notebook from her bag, and jolting some stuff down.

"Il need a couple of things. First, the prepayment... It will come down to 25 bucks. Second, I need to know how long you want it all to last... and I aint talking about your pal down below, 'ey? I mean the keen senses."

She rubbed the back of her neck while looking at her notebook, doing some math.
She then raised her eyes to meet Dana's, and grinned.
"I can have it prepared by 18:00 today. I assure you, you will not be dissapointed. "

She offered her hand for a handshake, and offering the other palm up for the money.

"All night would be best," he said, cocking his head in some confusion over her antics. "But just make sure you can give me a reasonable expectation of how long. I dont want to be this close," he held up thum and forefinger barely a hair's breadth apart, "And then suddenly lose my edge."

When she proffered a hand, he shook, and pulled a battered leather wallet from his back pocket.

"You mean dollars or pounds? I've got some gold dollars from like eighteen fifty, if that suits your fancy."

Alistair/Caius, Ana/Leona, & Alaric
FT. Coco & Arrow
LOCATIONS. Girls hallway → Girls bedroom → Girls hallway → Boys bedroom → Music Room
COLLAB. @TootsiePop & @Allycat

Not one who needed a good night’s sleep, Caius had been ready for his day far earlier than the average witch or warlock. Standing by the grandfather clock in the hallway that led to the girls’ room, he silently waited, with crossed arms, in the corner — hidden in shadow. In the morning, girls were unaware and failed to observe their surroundings, especially when most suffered from sleep deprivation or worry that their eyelids weren’t embellished with the perfect winged liner. If there was ever an attack on the school, he wondered if any of them would be prepared, including his sister.

Truly, this was a gift of his. It was obvious he wasn’t a small dude. Even so, over the years, he took the time to master the ability to be unseen without using the overrated invisibility spell. For one, he wouldn’t use invisibility to peek at any of them, he had standards. But, Caius did believe that in order to be the best, he needed to groom his more humane skills before his magic. For example, advancing his stealth to help with his research. To research his colleagues, he could use stealth or he could simply persuade someone for intel. There were a variety of ways to get what he wanted and to build on his insight. As one can tell, stealth seemed to be a ‘go-to’ method for the eldest Sterling.

At last, that wasn’t why he was here waiting. He wasn’t that eager to watch the girls come in and out of the room. There was the southern belle that utilized her morning to go for runs. He was usually lucky to see her leave, and return, on a daily basis. Another early bird, the blonde introvert, seemed to prefer drowning herself in a book than interact with too many people. Kind of like his sister. Ah, then there was the attractive, perhaps easily… influenced, ice queen. Yes, a lot of these girls were interesting to watch. Yet, that wasn’t what he was here for.

He was here for one girl.
~

Eyes red, wide eyed, staring at the ceiling, Anastasia steadied her breathing and waited. Fear stricken, having had another bad dream, she listened to the girls exiting the room for breakfast. Her eyes were full of life, yet lost and uncertain like the vast ocean carrying emotional currents. She hated her disorder. The bloody images flashed in and out of her conscious. Another unnecessarily tragic scene, where innocence was lost. The tears trailed down her cheeks, wishing they’d all just hurry up and leave. She was tired of being in bed. Why couldn’t she muster the strength to get up while they all were still here?!

Doing her counting exercises, she continued to wait, and wait, and wait until she was positive she was the last one left. Or, she hoped! Swiftly, she got ready for her morning: quick rinse, since she ends her night with baths and only needed to freshen up, and more importantly, choosing her outfit of the day that would keep her in a light mood. Preparing herself to socialize and do the whole school thing… required a lot of intensive care, like looking presentable even if it was more for her than anyone else. Confidence. She needed to be confidant.

In the nick of time, she exited the girls’ room with a cute outfit, as per usual. She usually had more vintage vibes about her aesthetic and thankfully, she hadn’t broken any dress policy. So far, she must be doing something right! Tiptoeing, even if there was definitely no more girls on this floor, she whimpering whispered, “Brother…?”

“I’m here.” Coming from behind her, Caius grabbed her hand and turned her to face him, giving his twin a kind and warm smile, “You look adorable.”

“Do I?… yes, um, thank you. I put a lot of thought into it.”

“I know you did.” Softly, he responded. This was a side only she really got to see. Glancing over his shoulder back at the grandfather’s clock, he nodded, “We have one more thing to do before we eat.”

In excitement, her voice rose, “YES! I mean… yes. Alaric better not be late!” She giggled, her mood already taking a better turn.

“If he is, which he might, I’ll fight him.” A sly smirk slipped on Anastasia’s twin’s face.

“No… don’t do that.” She pleaded. Fighting was bad and made her sad. Violence was a no-no in her book and Alistair knew that! Of course, she knew he was bluffing. At least, she hoped he was. It would be the end of the world if her brothers got in a terrible fight. Why live?

With that, Caius led his sister to another area on school grounds, knowing his job was only beginning.
~

There it was again, that annoying and loud bell. A tired groan slipped from Alaric's lips as he buried his face in his pillow listening to the boys beginning to move around. He didn't understand why some of them were even bothering to wake up when some of them, like himself, didn't even have morning classes. "Ri-Ri You gotta get up! Ali will be upset if you're late!" A high-pitched voice rang in his head followed by the feeling of a furry little nose trying to shove it's way into his blankets.

"Coco I'm going to skin you and feed you to Princess." The threat caused the Marten to squeak and scurry to the end of the bed, making cute little clicking sounds before running off somewhere. The blonde sighed as he pushed himself up into a sitting position...even though he really didn't want to wake up, the rodent was right.

Alaric had to force himself out of bed and to the showers where he quickly washed up and dressed himself. Unlike his siblings who wore sensible clothing he rather liked to be a little rebellious. He used some light gel to fluff up his blonde locks, threw on a T-Shirt that had some sort of band symbol on it and his signature black leather coat. Then he threw on a pair of faded jeans and his favorite black converse. Alaric did this all in the time span of 30 minutes and rushed out of the boys room, not really taking any time to greet or speak to anyone who may have spoken to him. He had to get to the music room before the other two did.

And he did.

After reaching for the doorknob, Caius opened the door, scoffing when he saw the familiar face of his twin brother, while letting the youngest Sterling prance in. The first thing Ana did was run to Alaric and give him a kiss on the cheek, a more careless demeanor flowing over her. Without saying a word, Caius walked past the two of them and went to the record player. Fucking old-fashioned. He needed a morning energy song for Ana before they entered the den known as the cafeteria.

Ah. This one will do.

Grabbing one of the records off the shelve, he nonchalantly twirled it, before placing it in. He would literally die if anyone saw him dancing like a fool. Before moving the tone arm over the the record, he looked back at his siblings, waiting.

“Did you sleep well?” Ana gleamed at Alaric. Unbeknownst to her, her familiar, Arrow, the smallest fox in the world, slipped into the room and hopped onto one of the chairs. He had things to do while his mistress slept, but now their day was starting, which meant he had to keep her safe. He widely yawned, anticipating a show to happen in a matter of seconds.

Alaric smiled softly at his cute baby sister, “I slept fine, Leona. How was your night?” He asked, laying a gentle hand on the top of her head for a moment before looking to Alistair and than back at his sister. “You ready?” As the trio got ready for their morning routine Coco scrambled up onto the ledge of an open window and leaped up onto the same chair as Arrow, plopping down next to the small fox. “Hi Old man!” The rodent chirped.

“Ah yes. Of course, you can sit next to me.” Arrow sarcastically responded, as he straightened his posture, his baby fox tail leisurely moving on the seat, side to side. “It is far too early for your… bright disposition, Coco.” The kitsune didn’t understand why this rodent bothered. If it wasn’t obvious enough, the fox wanted to keep to himself and not have a childish Marten poking at him for attention.

“Of course I’m ready! And… let’s not talk about my night. Let’s just—”

“Dance.” As per tradition, ever since they were young, the brothers would loosen Anastasia’s nerves and give her a temporary fix of forgetting her bad dreams by starting their day with some jig. The song that resonated throughout the room was I Think We’re Alone Now by Tiffany, a late 80s song (yes, a nod to Umbrella Academy).

Stealing his sister from his brother, Caius reeled her in and gave her a little twirl before releasing her and allowing her to be a dork and do every corny dance under the sun, like The Sprinkler and The Cabbage Patch. He had a preference for ballroom dancing, but for her, he’d get out of his comfort zone. Bobbing his head and awkwardly swaying side to side, with a blank expression, he watched his sister’s face brighten expeditiously.

“Come on Alistair, loosen up a bit.” Alaric stuck a tongue out at him as he grabbed Ana’s hands and hopped around the room with her, letting out a bright laugh. While his brother may have been embarrassed by their morning traditions Alaric liked them and honestly wasn’t bothered about anyone seeing him. Alistair seemed to care about the image he portrayed but for him he just wanted to be himself and didn’t care who saw him. Besides this was fun for both him and Ana, it was a good way to spend the morning.

Looking over his shoulder to the window which peered into the courtyard, seeing no students around, Alistair rolled his eyes and gave a little more 'umpf' to his groove shimmying and eventually joining in with his siblings that were bouncing throughout the whole room. He did not bounce, but he followed along. The only time he would choose to follow them.

He felt like a fool.

And yet, this was tradition. Tradition and making Ana happy were priorities to him. With a slight smile, like hardly visible because that's how far he allowed his face to stretch, he snapped his fingers to the beat.

While the room was turning into a party, Coco watched the trio with gleaming ups, his little tail wiggling about. “You're so grumpy all the time.” he mused aloud. “You should try to look at things on the bright side! Makes your day a whole lot better.”

“You do that enough for us both." Smug. Arrow gave the hyper Marten a wink and then brought his attention back to the triplets, observing them in silence. Together, they made each other better. Separated, though? That was far more interesting.

Curious...
