Io at Terauchi Temple

@The Irish Tree @Restalaan

Io wondered how her description of her book's leafing somehow managed to come to the discussion of divorce - she had nobody to blame but the people around her. 'They're not wrong about potential heresies... But wrong about the exact nature.' Of course, she wasn't going to do anything like that on Shizuyama. The locals didn't need to get involved in any more than they already were part of. She found it more amusing how forcefully Liliana denied the assertion - she would need to remember that. It may be useful to distract the fairy from going on a potentially dangerous tangent... Much like it seemed to do this time.

Either way, Io snapped her grimoire shut and held it close. "It can divorce people in a sense." Io wasn't one for telling jokes, but that one made the corners of her mouth turn up in a faint smile. It quickly faded as she looked around at the goblin's prompting. "I'm not sure of the location of any others." Io hadn't found a good way to track them all yet. Not all of the task force members would agree to being marked with a tracking seal - unfortunately. It would make it easier to set up plans. Io wondered how she could convince them to do it, becoming lost in her own thoughts. "At least there is another undead..." She muttered to herself, her eyes closed with concentration.

"Also, I didn't lose, I simply...got something else to do. It was getting boring anyways."

Oh.....Oh hohohoooooo. This guy. Got. CLAPPED., thought Kerry, giving Gringor a deadpanned stare as he spoke. The hornet would turn to Yuki with a smirk, silently asking the oni if she really did believe the BS the high orc was spouting. Oddly enough, with the bravado in his voice, Gringor would 've been convincing if wasn't for the battle wounds that were evident on his body. Then again, when has a high orc ever thought to hide his scars? Never in the history of the world, that's when.

"Whatever you say, dude.", Kerry responded, rolling her eyes as her tone made it clear that she didn't believe a word of Gringor's report. "Yuki and I are heading to the hot springs. If you're looking for Shizuka and Takeshi, both are currently on missions. Don't know when they'll be back."

With the conversation done, the duo continued toward their destination, but not before unintentionally eavesdropping on two passing women. The words spoken.....concerning, to say the least.

Aaaaaaaaaa~....I SO needed this.", Kerry blissfully commented, letting loose a moan that was borderline erotic as the steamy water washed away the grime of the day and the stress of the past few. Kerry and Yuki were lucky enough to find a hot spring that was still near the Temple yet secluded and far enough from the beaten path that peeping eyes were a low likelihood. Not that the hornet mind, but as her father once said, there's a time and place for everything.

Still....The words of the two women they passed earlier still clung to her mind like a Beelzebub on garbage day.

"So....Yuki? About what those two women were saying back there..... You think we should bring it up to the others? To Takeshi?"

Eula's eyes flashed up and looked over at Shizuka, apparently finished with her 'analysis' of the glass blade. It seemed that it was a weapon made from part steel and glass, combined using ancient sorcery. If he thought about it, he sometimes heard his fellow compatriots mention them during the war, along with his master. Strong enough to completely tear through armor, but despite its power it also has a high risk factor involving the wielder. As they've already experienced, the blade usually shatters upon use, spreading glass shards in all directions and killing the user. He looked at the now deceased bandit, his expression was one of pity. Walking over to him, he carefully pulled the glass shards out of his eye, then he closed both of them. Picking up his body, he laid him on the ground, his back now resting on a stone. "Poor bastard", he said, shaking his head.

The fact that some people were willing to still use this glass weapon despite this risk, in addition to questioning their sense of reason and perhaps intellect, also made him think that there are those who are skilled enough to keep their lives even after the weapon is shattered. It shouldn't come as a surprise that they're band in various monster territories. A sweatdrop appeared on the side of the ronin's head as Eula began going on another tangent, but was relived as she stopped herself.

"Yes, Eula-san, I wholeheartedly agree. Which, also, shouldn't be a problem" Responding to Eula's suggestion for the coming battle. He took note that she also had the foresight to bandage her wound, not only to ensure that dirt is kept out of it as it heals, but to ensure that their enemies don't realize that she's injured. "You're wise.", he said. "You give me too much credit. It just one of several basic chi manipulation sills based around breathing techniques. It's actually rather common among Zipangu warriors."

He then examined the footprints along with his automation partner. "Let's make haste, Eula-san, I don't like the idea of those brigands roaming about longer than needed. Especially if they have more of those glass weapons..."

Contrary to Hinami's initial estimation, it seemed that not even Luna could do much to calm the woman's nerves. The fact that a bunch of monsters and a rage filled agent of revenge are asking her where her husband is doesn't help the case either. Realizing the matter isn't getting resolved any time soon, Sorae suggested that the taskforce members take the woman back to the temple. There she can be safely looked after, then perhaps she'd be more comfortable to divulge more information. Sorae, however, decided to stay behind and look around a bit more. Before the sisters could protest, Sorae ensured them that she'd leave long before any reinforcements arrived.

"Of course, Sorae-san. We'll see you soon then!" Hinami replied. Luna began walking back to the base with Kana in tow, ensuring her that all of them would see her safe. Hinami nodded cheerfully in agreement, while Atsuha tried to force a reassuring smile. It seemed she was still a bit bothered from earlier.

With that, they all began making their way back to Terauchi Temple, deciding they've seen enough excitement for one day. Although, Hinami could notice her sister's sour mood as they walked. She'd have to see if she could cheer her up when they return, hopefully Skarsneek would be there to greet them as well.

HONEY TRAP

~ @AzureKnight (SHI), @The Irish Tree (EUL) ~

The taskforce duo followed the footprints, all the way to a fairly large, wooden-walled village. The town flew clan banners, but there was no sign of any samurai or onmyoji caster present. Even the watchtowers were empty. Most likely, there was a garrison of Shizuyaman troops here who likely all perished in Sanjo Beach and left the village free to be squatted in by bandits.

And there were a lot of bandits. There were about a dozen of them, most of them were Swordsmen thugs but a couple wielded obviously-foreign crossbows. They were alert and on patrol, warned of the incoming taskforce duo by those who fled earlier. However, they were untrained bandits and even in their vigilance, they were oblivious to the nearing presences of Eula and Shizuka.

None of the bandits present seemed to be the leader. He will have to be coaxed out, or spotted discreetly somewhere inside of one of the buildings.

While snooping around, Eula and Shizuka overheard a couple of bandits conversing while the latter were on patrol.

"What did she do when he threw her out?"
"Imagine killing your whole family to be with the man you love. A few days later, he gets rid of you. What would YOU do?"
"Probably kill myself... or kill him."

Terauchi Temple

"Where's Shizuka or underboss Takeshi?"
Gringor

"You tell me. Didn't Lord Takeshi go after you and that Alice girl? What happened? And how come you came here all by yourself looking like a Wurm rammed into you?" Ayu then gasped as she jumped to a conclusion. "Don't tell me they're both in some sort of trouble! Tell me where they are and I'll assemble a search and rescue team right away!"

-

Lunatea and the Hangai sisters managed to return to Terauchi Temple with their hostage quite safely with nothing obstructing their trip. Kana remained pretty silent all the way, refusing to answer questions and ocassionally sobbing due to her situation being captured by foreign yokai associated with a vengeful and relentless warrior renowned in the island.

Upon arrival, the party was quickly greeted by Ayu. "Ah, it's the sisters! And Miss Lunatea! Welcome back!" Immediately noticing Kana, the head spy continued. "And who is this? Another refugee? Well, let me arrange some quarters for her to stay in. People have been coming nonstop, you know? It's a good thing this temple was built to accomodate."

Yuki

@Rezod92 @Restalaan

Yuki had kept quiet while listening to the back and forth between the others as she smiled and only nodded her head on occasion. Letting Gringor go about his business as she didn’t want to say anything that would in any way upset him. Though she did notice his words didn’t quite line up with reality on this matter, the scars being all that she needed to see. Though she had to admit, she did find him somewhat amusing and entertaining at the very least. Perhaps underneath all of that bravado he had a soft spot somewhere. Leaving to go with Kerry to the Hot springs as she gave Gringor a small little wave and smile as they departed.

Yuki let herself sink down into the steaming hot water of the spring as she let all the tension from her muscles relax. Letting herself loosen up and enjoy the moment as having some down time after such a long trip wasn’t such a bad thing. Letting the water soak into her skin as she enjoyed the warmth now radiating throughout her body. It was nice to not only get to enjoy a hot spring, but also enjoy it with a new friend. She glanced over at Kerry and considered what she had asked for a moment before giving a small nod of her head.

“Well what they said was rather concerning, so it may be wise to bring the matter to him so that he is aware of it, and bringing it up with the others surely wouldn’t hurt anything either, who knows, maybe someone will have a solution, I just don’t think us alone are going to be able to solve it all on our own without any help from the others, it seems like a pretty tricky mess to insert ourselves into under prepared”

Letting her head sink further into the water until the water came up to the bottom of her nose as she went into deep thought. The words of the two women also sitting in her mind as she knew they couldn’t just sit idly by and not do anything about it.

The walk back to the shrine was uneventful, with no Varjans in sight. Lunatea made sure to keep a close eye on the frantic human woman, knowing perfectly well she'd probably run away if they were to look the other direction.

Once they arrived, they were greeted by Ayu.

"Oh, I wouldn't exactly call her a refugee," Lunatea answered. "It's more fitting to call her our prisoner. We need information from her and she refuses to give it to us." She glanced at the woman with an annoyed look. "But, that doesn't mean we should torture her or anything. I imagine that after spending some time with us, she'll come around to our side."

Lunatea relied on the fact that they were kinder and more civilized than the Varjans. Just as monster societies tend to be compared to human ones.

Liliana

@Crowvette,@Restalaan(SKA)

"H-Hey, one of me is plenty! Lilianna said while pouting at Skarsneek's teasing. She was, as goblins might say: An easy mark. She had all the pride of a knight with the childishness of a fairy, resulting in her being incredibly gullible and easy to mess with. "N-No way the valkyries would go after Io...she's way too nice! And pink! Pink is justice!

Liliana did get a touch pale though as Io snapped her grimoire shut and said it divorced people in a sense. "I-It can divorce their eyes!? Or...maybe noses?" the fairy asked, astonished at how terrifyingly powerful her new wizarding friend was. Could she...even...divorce taste? Make it so you can't taste sweets anymore? Liliana gulped, making a mental note to never cross her wizardy pal with pranks gone too far. In fact, she may not even try to play small pranks at all on her. The last thing she wanted was to never taste fruit again!

"Can't say I've seen either of those two...but I feel like it'd be hard to miss a spider lady at least. Maybe she's on a..." Liliana suddenly flipped upside-down, flying with her back to the ground as she hovered and looked at the ceiling. "Ceiling somewhere? Not this one at least...does she like ceilings? I'd think spiders would..." After confirming there were no spider ladies up on the ceiling, Liliana righted herself. "I hope you find them though. As for me...I should probably stop bugging Io and go find some baddies that need beating or people that need saving."

Eula

@AzureKnight

With the duo making haste to track down the bandits, the two would be able to find the tracks while they were fresh. With their base located and some information gathered, Eula would see it prudent to hold off on their assault until they had a concrete plan. There were far more bandits than there had been, at least a dozen, and a hail of stun blasts from Eula could only deter them so much before a few retaliated...and would likely notice that she was only capable of using one arm. The ambush tactic from earlier likely wouldn't work either, given that it was now against far greater, perhaps hardened bandits.

And then there was the troubling murmurs they overheard from guards on patrol. The mention of a slain family, a female, and bandits...Eula didn't like the thought formulating in her mind. Had they been set up to slaughter bandits for the woman that told them about them? ...It didn't especially matter in terms of dealing with the bandits. They were a threat that needed to be routed right away. But they may be doing the bidding of a murderer in doing so. "Shizuka, a question," the automaton started before continuing with: "Are human beings capable of killing their own flesh and blood for love of another? And, should said human being capable of such acts then be rejected by that love...would they then be capable of deceiving others into getting revenge for them?"

Eula would hold her damaged arm with her remaining one, idly looking down at her palm, covered by the dangling sheet. "...The woman who told me of the bandits said she lost her family to them. But here, bandits claim a woman slaughtered her family for their leader. ...My programming is at odds. This unit isn't capable of arbitrating what is and isn't moral, so I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the matter."

Thankfully from their hiding spot, they could likely speak for a bit before their assault. Eula's heart was wavering, not on the battle, but as to whether this was truly righteous to be doing. It felt...dirty to her, somehow.

Skarsneek of the Red Hill

Skarsneek hummed at the two interactions as the former explained whether she knew where Atsuha was.

Though his question was answered when he spotted a silhouette, a brief one but he recognized it anywhere.

"Well, be seeing you then." He gently pat the fairy's head with one finger and waved two fingers at the lich. "You too, I got a wife to catch up."

Quickly making his getaway before she can ask him what he meant, Skarsneek headed to the temple.

Then from afar, he saw a new presence and raised an eyebrow. Was that a prisoner or an ally?

He suppose he'll find out.

Sneaking from the back, completely stealthy, and walking between Atsuha and Hinami. He wrapped his arm around their waist and pull them close, completely surprising them if they hadn't noticed his approach.

"Yo, how's your day?"

@Hammerman

"Oh, you're on the field? Found any man of worth?" Skarsneek asked Lunatea nonchalantly before gesturing his head toward the shivering woman. "And who's this?"

Hearing that she was indeed a prisoner, Skarsneek kept a trained face as an idea formed.

"Put her in a prison at least, I don't trust her not to do something foolish." He said without any hesitation, seems like he'll have to rope in some other insurance as well. Distasteful as it is. He might not even consider it but this is hardly the time to put personal feelings above the goal.

Gringor of the Ironhide tribe

"Don't know, they left and I went on," Gringor said before cracking his neck. "They'll be fine."

With that done, Gringor went onwards to a well and washed his body first. Getting rid of the dirt and mud accumulated around him as well as washing the wound.

Once done, Gringor needed somewhere quiet and a fight. A moment passed before he recalled someone that could give both.

Walking into the temple and following his nose, he located the first of the two he recruited.

Nobutada.

Walking up to the latter, Gringor grunted once to get his attention before looking at him straight in the eyes.

"Bored, let's fight." He said to him but notably, he placed his axe down to the sides before slamming a fist into his palm.

It was easy enough to follow the trail left by the bandits, eventually being led to their makeshift stronghold. The bandits were simply that, untrained brigands and weren't even alerted to the presence of the duo when they had arrived. He and Eula made sure to stick to the shadows and tall grass to make sure it stayed that way for the time being. While make a trip along the camp's perimeter, they overheard a conversation between a couple of the bandits. Upon hearing it, Shizuka couldn't believe it at first, it sounded a bit too outlandish. But it seemed that they were indeed speaking of the woman who's family had supposedly been killed by brigands. Shizuka himself didn't speak with the woman, though Eula did and not it seemed that the story wasn't holding up.

He had his thoughts interrupted by Eula, who began asking him about the morality of the job. If their suspicions were true, they were taking up a job to get revenge for a woman who killed her own family just to be with someone who abandoned her anyway. It seemed his automation companion had trouble grasping complex moral situations like this. He sigh before speaking, the whole situation taking an unexpected turn.

"No, Eula, it's not right taking revenge for someone who killed their own family. But, I'm afraid it's for the best that we see this through to the end. After all, they're still bandits and have likely committed their share of havoc within all this chaos. If left to their devices, it may lead to more problems down the line."

He turned to face the stronghold. "Once we've finished here, we'll go back to that woman and make her tell us the truth of the matter - one way or another." He began to focus a bit of his chi as he noticed a small group of bandits walking together. After gathering his energy, he breathed out a large volume of mist that began to cover the vicinity the brigands were in. Naturally, they were taken aback by the sudden fog. However, they began to be further startled by the illusions of warriors attacking them. They pulled there blades out and started attacking them, only to have the warriors vanish - revealing they had attack their comrade instead. The illusion was slowly driving them off the rails and unknowingly forcing them to attack one another.

Satisfied with the effect of his technique he quickly turned to Eula. "The fog will deal with these droogs and cover our approach. You should be able to sense their mana through it as well, I presume. I'll search for the leader, see if you can do something about the others with the crossbows. Be careful!" He said, vanishing using Shinsoku to run among the confusion.

Terauchi Temple

Having finally made it back to the temple, the trio was greeted by Ayu. Luna corrected the spy in that the woman was a prisoner of sorts, they did after all need information from her. Ayu escorted her to come living quarters, which would hopefully make her feel more comfortable and more cooperative later on.

The two sisters where then greeted by an arm each wrapping around both of them, then being pulled center ward towards the origin. They both let out cute yelps before realizing it was nothing other than Skarsneek giving a usual greeting.

"Oh! Skars-kun, I see you've returned from your mission as well? I hope everything went alright, ours had went well to for the most part. Oh, but my sis-" She was cut off midsentence by her sister, who now had an outlet to unleash all of her irritation out on.

"Well, now, if it isn't the ditcher himself! You know, you've got a lot of nerve just up and leaving me earlier this morning and just running off with other mamono!" She snapped, poking Skarsneek's nose with her finger. "You could've at least waited for me to wake up, you jerk. Honestly, do all goblins behave like this?!" It seemed that the rambling wouldn't end any time soon; Atsuha had plenty of angst that built up over the course of today's events.

Hinami couldn't do much of anything except look on with a somber smile on her face. She then turned to Luna. "Well, all's well that ends well I suppose. Thank you very much for all of your help; Sorae-san can be a handful, but we're so grateful you had a hand in saving her life." She said, making a polite bow. "Say, since we're done with the mission, did you wanna grab a bite to eat?" She then looked over to Io and Liliana "Hey there, would you like to join us as well?" She said, daintily waving at the both of them.

Lunatea wasn't impressed by the way Skarsneek greeted the sisters. Since when are they that close to him?

"Oh, you're on the field? Found any man of worth?" Skarsneek asked Lunatea nonchalantly.

Lunatea didn't say anything other than giving him a glare. On his remark about putting the human in a prison, however, she objected.

"No. There's no need for that. Put her in a private room instead. Place guards in front of the door. A prison is too cold and dirty for her."

However, said glare didn't last long. In a flash, she lost her composure completely.

For her magic panties had decided that she wanted some attention from him, and as such, called a gentle breeze to lift their mistress' dress, showing themselves off in all their tight glory to him.

Lunatea yelped, pushing her skirt down with her hands. He was not the kind of husband she was seeking.

"Say, since we're done with the mission, did you wanna grab a bite to eat?"

The wererabbit rubbed her stomach. She was indeed quite tarnished.

"Yes, that would be lovely. It seems my stomach has been rumbling for some time and I simply have yet to notice it."

Abandoned Village

HONEY TRAP

~ @AzureKnight (SHI), @The Irish Tree (EUL) ~

Shizuka's fog covered the village, throwing the bandits in disarray. But this was no mere magic fog, illusions of ghastly warriors emerged from the mist to harmlessly swipe at the brigands. The Swordsmen, believing what they were seeing, started attacking back, only for the illusions to vanish and find themselves slashing each other. Their screams filled the fogged village.

*BOOM*

A cannonball landed in the middle of the village which then burst open and released a strong pressure of air, pushing the magical mist away and bringing clarity back to the village. There were a few casualties for the bandits, but this group was still relatively strong. And now, Shizuka and Eula were now in the open and in their sights

"So... this was the duo, who got my boys running." A large man with a tengu mask appeared before the taskforce. He had few armor pieces on him, likely salvaged or scavenged, but in his hands was a cannon so big that only someone with his physique could possibly lift it, let alone fire it. "I'll give it to ya, ya got some pretty nice tricks. But this show's over!"

This was no doubt the bandit group's leader and he started by firing a regular cannonball at the taskforce duo, followed by a charge from the remaining Swordsmen. The crossbowmen were beside the leader, waiting for a chance to shoot.

Terauchi Temple

"Bored, let's fight."
Gringor

Gringor would find Nobutada medidating in front of a statue, not inside in any of the temples, but near a tall tree a bit away from the temple grounds. "Should you really be seeking a fight right now? Your wounds look grievous." He replied, still kneeling in position, eyes closed and his head not even turning. "Are they inflicted by the Varjans? I thought you were sterner than that.

"As you can probably see, I am quite busy." The large monk continued. "Do you not have your fellow taskforce members with which to vent your battlelust? Why not ask them?"

"Well, I suppose you have your reasons." Nobutada finished. "Still, I'm in no mood to fight. But you are free to swing at me as much as you want, not that it'll do anything." The monk finished with a chuckle, as if inviting an attack from the High Orc.

-

As the taskforce continued their business in the temple, Ayu was almost about to ask them to search for the missing Takeshi Oja when the slow clopping of hooves signalled the arrival of the subject himself.

A tired and despondent Takeshi Oja rode in with his white horse. Sitting behind him, sleeping soundly with body leaning onto the young lord's back was the Mad Hatter Alice. Ayu breathed a huge sigh of relief upon the sight. "Oh, I was about to send a search party for you two. When Gringor returned by himself all banged up, I thought you were in serious trouble. I mean, if Gringor got beaten up then..."

"Heh, you don't trust my abilities, Miss Ayu?" Takeshi replied with a smile. "Don't worry, we're fine. We actually separated from Gringor because of... reasons. Anyway, it seems he went after our targets himself... and was repulsed." The young Oja sighed. "As for us, well, let's just say we... fought a bear. Yeah, we were looking for supplies when a bear jumped us."

"A bear managed to knock out Miss Alice?"

"Ah, no. Her tiredness is... unrelated to that."

Takeshi had no intention of revealing what had really happened after fighting that bear. He could only hope that the... 'mark' he had given her would be undetected until the end of time.

It was just then when Alice began to stir.

"I was just thinking the same thing. It's already gonna be a rough handful dealing with the Varjans, but the additional infighting will just make this more difficult. So yeah, best to get everyone on the same page.", Kerry commented, her hands clasped behind her head as she relaxed in the hot spring. It was for the best, really. Nipping any potential issues at the bub would go a long way to ensure the taskforce didn't run into any headaches during this war. "But, in the mean time.... I didn't answer one of your questions back when we first met. To answer your question, I'm a hornet..."

For the rest of the time they had in the spring, the two mamono chatted, sharing their own stories and experiences. A new friendship growing.

An hour or two later, Kerry and Yuki returned to the Temple, minds and bodies rejuvenated by the hot springs. The duo was just in time to see Takeshi and Alice return from their quest, the mad hatter was catching z's leaning against the young lord's back.

"Oh, Takeshi. Perfect timing.", spoke Kerry as she approached the duo. "So Yuki and I were on our way to the hot springs when we overhe-"

Sniff

Kerry froze mid-sentence as a particular scent wafted across her nose.

Sniff....Sniff....

It was slightly faint. Like time had passed and the scent was being muffled by an obstruction (read: clothing), but it was there. By the Demon Lord, it was there!

Kerry knew what this scent was. EVERY MAMONO IN THE WORLD knew what this scent was.

A man's essence.

She snapped her gaze toward Alice and noticed the dopey smile she had as she snoozed. And....was it just her eyes or did the mad hatter had a kind of....glow to her?

.....No.....

Her eyes swapped to Takeshi, seeing how withdrawn and subdued he appeared. Like he did something he wasn't supposed to do. Like....he regretted doing something.

No. Fucking. Way.

Her eyes went back to Alice.....then back to Takeshi....Back to Alice....Before settling back on Takeshi. And then....

The dots connected.

Kerry took a moment to survey her surroundings. Outside of Yuki and Ayu, none of the other taskforce members seemed to notice Takeshi's return yet. The mamono members will definitely notice the smell. Hell, Yuki is probably smelling it right now. But more importantly, the villagers and refugees are out of earshot and seemed to be preoccupied with their own affairs right now.

This was good, because what Kerry was about say, if an outside ear caught wind, would completely cause chaos and destroy any chance of getting cooperation from the locals.

And if the other taskforce members walk in on it.....well, here's hoping the others have enough sense to not blurt it out for the world to hear.

"Takeshi...", began Kerry, her tone low enough for anyone just a few feet away could hear. ".....did you fuck Alice?"

Io at Terauchi Temple

@Hammerman @AzureKnight @Restalaan @The Irish Tree

The new arrivals seemed like an interesting lot, and Liliana likely needed to do other things. Io nodded at the invitation, standing to join the small group that was forming. Io didn't have a particular taste for any food in particular, but she wasn't immune to a need for energy. She gave Liliana a small wave - that is, unless Liliana followed along with her.

All the while, Io was doing what she did best - listen and pick up information. There were a few little pieces that her hearing was finding - Alice had also returned. Her charge seemed to have some... reservations about sharing what happened, which was curious. Io didn't need much thought to have a hypothesis as to what actually went on there. It wasn't something Io was going to barge in and ask about, though. She tucked that fact of information away in case it came up later.

She also noticed the way the jorou-gumo referred to the goblin. Io was unsure, but given the things she shouted, the goblin may not have been a girl at all - An unthinkable possibility. Io second guessed her own powers of observation - she should have seen through a disguise. Perhaps it was due to the new situation of dealing with Liliana that made her lose the focus, or perhaps she considered another male mamono such an astronomical rarity that she didn't even consider it. That being said, it could be some kind of strange nickname, or joke, or even misunderstanding... There was only one way to tell. Io would have to check. Preferably in a way that would not espouse any strange misunderstandings, given the potential relationship those two had. That being said, joining with that group would give Io a chance to observe up close whether or not this was true.

Io upped her walking pace to meet up with the sisters, Skarsneek, and Luna. "We've not met. I'm Io." Io quickly threw out an introduction to those she had not talked to before in the group, while sneakily glancing at the goblin. Her curiousity was going to be hard to contain, but it was only a matter of time before she observed damning evidence either way. She resisted the urge to have her grimoire at the ready to take notes.

Liliana

@Crowvette,@Rezod92

Well...a fairy wasn't one to turn down an invitation to socialize, so Lilianna would follow the forming group of monsters, just in time to see Takeshi return. Well, "return" as in "I have no idea who he is because I never met him personally but he's kinda handsome and on a white horse". Seeing as the conversation over there had fewer members, and they looked a bit frazzled from their journey back, Lilianna would float over and see what help she could offer.

Without the chance to hear Kerry question on whether "the fuckening" happened, Lilianna was blissfully unaware for the moment before she drew her sword. "You two look a bit roughed up, so here! Sword, please be nice..." Thankfully, Greater Healing activated, shrouding the human and Mad Hatter in a pale green light that would close any wounds, and alleviate any aches. Floating a tad closer, Lilianna said: "There, now you're both oooo-" before the scent hit her.

All six of her braincells were firing on all cylinders, the fairy's face turning beet red before she slowly floated back, fidgeting as she floated by Kerry. "O-Oh wow...haven't smelt that in months. You two should probably wash up, yeah? Healing can't uh...can't fix that." Trainee days were flashing before Liliana's mind, remembering the days her fairy fellows would wander off to find themselves a man lost in the woods, have some fun, and then send him home. ...The perky pinklette had gotten stuck with sword polishing duty each time, and not the exciting kind.

Even if Lilianna was dumb, she knew that people that generally feared "yokai" would absolutely turn on someone who'd mated with one. As such, Lilianna would lean a bit towards Kerry and whisper: "Are there any streams or baths we can dunk them in real quick? I'd use my sword's magic but its just as likely to shoot magma at them than water."
Eula

@AzureKnight

Eula would look at her hand as Shizuka talked about right and wrong, slowly closing and then unfurling her fingers. "...Thank you, Shizuka. This unit is unequipped to deal with human moral quandaries. When this is over, we will apprehend her. Perhaps, bringing back one of the bandits could corroborate our story,"

Just as she finished speaking however, cannonfire rang out. She would use her good arm to try and shield Shizuka, but it wasn't directed at them. Rather, it had dispelled the fog that had covered their approach, the leader emerging and challenging the two. They hadn't even gotten a chance to eliminate more than a few of the bandits before this...and now, he was aiming right at them! Eula didn't doubt that Shizuka was fast enough to dodge the incoming cannonball, but she was running numbers in her head.

She would stand still, and extend her hand just in time to "catch" the cannonball, using the force of the shot to spin herself. Once, twice, a leg raised, and a perfect pitcher's pose before Eula threw the cannonball right back at the tengu-masked leader. It would slam into his chestplate with immense force. Not as much as the initial shot, but it was like getting hit in the chest with a mace. Eula knew they wouldn't surrender with words alone. She would brandish her arm and begin firing stun arrows while backpedaling, attempting to incapacitate the swordsmen while Shizuka found a way to slip behind, or break through.

Skarsneek of the Red Hill

"And I love you too, dear." Skarsneek placed two of his hand in front apologetically of Atsuha, completely caught off-guard by her irritation and put up a smile despite being the focus of her rebuke. "I just wanted to help the villagers out, get more space for them. Got caught in the moment, also, I didn't want to disturb your sleep."

Though when Lunatea suddenly flashed her good to him, he had to actively resisted turning his neck. Though the corner of his eyes certainly caught a glance of it. Deep inwards, he hoped that Atsuha didn't notice him doing that. Not when he's right in the middle of being scolded by her.

Gurgling and clearing his throat, he quickly agreed with Hinami suggestion of getting lunch.

"Hey, that's a good idea. Everyone probably missed breakfast, so how about he go for a bite?" He gestured to Atsuha for them to go together. "I'll feed you by hand too, you must be tired after all."

Gently pushing Atsuha to the forefront before turning to Hinami to do the same, so her sister can hopefully placate her more. It allowed Skarsneek to whisper to Lunatea for a moment.

"You're right, a fig leaf does increase the picture's beauty." He praised before quickly making his way forward.

@Crowvette

"Yo, want to join us for lunch? I'm sure you got questions." Skarsneek said to Io the lich, guessing that the jig was up. So better to just get it out of the way, he had his fun after all.

Gringor of the Ironskin tribe

"Not tincans, those basket hats." Gringor unhelpfully said but the last one would be familiar to Nobutada, since the straw hats worn by the Shizuyamans resembled baskets, from a certain point of view. "Took multiple hits, fast, not that strong, but fast. Like blur."

The wound was already in the process of healing, and should be good by tomorrow. Though the bigger injury was to Gringor's own pride.

Yet, he had to admit, perhaps wearing something tougher was necessary to win. Speed, power, strength, he need all of them.

Though when he said he's busy, Gringor blinked before waving a hand around them. "But you do nothing."

"The rest here aren't that strong, and the ones that are is gone. So you're the only one left."

Hearing Nobutada saying it's fine to take a swing, Gringor didn't hesitate.

Imitating the Shizuyamans stance, fist together holding an imaginary sword. Gringor stood upwards before shooting forward like those warriors.

Yet it was a pale imitation, awkwardly slamming into his shoulders without doing any real damage. His fist just bouncing off. Though if it had been anyone aside from Nobutada, they'll be sore for weeks from that love tap.

This continued on, Gringor unusually focused as he continued on practicing.

If Nobutada noticed the attack or is familiar with it, it was up to him to point out since it was a technique from their region.

Lunatea raised an eyebrow at his comment, not realizing he just made a lewd comment regarding her ass.

"We've not met. I'm Io." Io quickly threw out an introduction to those she had not talked to before in the group, while sneakily glancing at the goblin.

"Well met, Io." Lunatea replied with her usual nonplussed expression. Some might judge her harshly for being a lich but she knew that liches weren't necessarily bad. Still, it was the first time she saw one and she couldn't help but stare at her for a little bit longer than necessary.

She quickly picked up her glances at the goblin and wondered what it was that made her be attracted to him that much. Still, she didn't ask as it was not her business after all.

Abandoned Village

HONEY TRAP

~ @AzureKnight (SHI), @The Irish Tree (EUL) ~

The Cannoneer could only watch in awe as his mighty cannonball, able to smash even stone walls, was caught by the Automaton with one hand and promptly threw it back at him without the iron ball losing momentum. He was hit in his chestplate, sending him crashing back into the house he emerged from. The rest of the bandits could only watch in shock at what happened. For the briefest moment, they contemplated retreat.

But when Eula started firing shots at them, fear turned to desperation. They would die fighting than die fleeing. Swords unsheathed, they rushed at the Automaton who continued firing at them as she backed away, dropping more of the Swordsmen as they came. But a few had closed the distance, swinging their blades wildly at Eula.

Meanwhile, the crossbowmen hid behind the debris of the village. They loaded green-glowing bolts into their weapons, obviously magical in nature. And they looked confident in that these special bolts would do damage to this seemingly invincible mechanical yokai.

"The rest here aren't that strong, and the ones that are is gone. So you're the only one left."
Gringor

"Heh, flattery will get you nowhere, yokai."

The attempts to imitate the 'Heavenly Strike' technique on Nobutada amused the monk, who shrugged off the attacks as if he was being splashed with water. Alas, even if he did know the technique, Gringor's poor imitations made it unrecognizable to the monk. However, Nobutada perceptiveness clued him that this might be the cause of the High Orc's grievous wounds.

"I do not know this technique, but I do know this..." Nobutada started, still in his medidative stance. "It is one thing to know the specific weaknesses of your enemy, but sometimes, the opponent knows this and so, they would know your every move against them. Sometimes, you must look for weaknesses not apparent. You do not swim to catch the fish, nor do you run to catch the hare."

"That wisdom is how we managed to deal with you, yokai, for generations." Nobutada finished. "You say some of your allies are not strong. Perhaps you should rethink that."

"Takeshi... did you fuck Alice?"
Kerry Maros

Takeshi's poor heart dropped upon hearing those words from Kerry. Such an accusation was worthy of death, under normal circumstances... and if it was false. Coughing, the young lord was about to retort when Lilianna, a yokai he did not remember to have met yet.

She was a small Fairy with pink hair and a white dress armed with a glowing green blade of proportional size. The warrior Fairy used her sword to cast a shorud of green light over Takeshi, Alice and Kuro, the white horse they were riding on. Already, Takeshi's minor injuries and aches from fighting the bear disappeared. And so did his exhaustion from... 'aiding' the Mad Hatter.

He wanted to express quick gratitude to Lilianna before returning to the Hornet's claim.

"O-Oh wow...haven't smelt that in months. You two should probably wash up, yeah? Healing can't uh...can't fix that."
Lilianna

The act was not possible to hide from the yokai. In due time, all the taskforce would know and after, all of Shizuyama. Such a thing would be the end of his time in the island and, more importantly, introduce discord and infighting to his people who already reeling from the Varjan invasion.

He could admit this to the taskforce and ask them to stay quiet but Takeshi felt it would be better if even the yokai did not know, or at least did not believe, this. It was far too late to deny this to Alice herself, for obvious reasons, but perhaps she could be requested to stay quiet and her word alone would mean little especially to the people of Shizuyama.

"I don't know what you two are blabbering about but I'll just make this clear: Nothing happened between me and Alice. We were attacked by a bear, and we're both tired from it. That's that." Takeshi declared firmly.

"My lord, the yokai's senses do not lie." Ayu shot down Takeshi's plans. "But do not worry, Lord Takeshi. I'm sure the taskforce will gladly and dutifully keep this as a very guarded secret. It will not be revealed unless you wish it to be. By the way, how did it feel?"

"It felt-- W-What do you mean 'how did it feel?'? Nothing happened!" Takeshi reasserted, his growing panic making his voice louder.

Noise. Sleep. They didn’t mix well; like water and oil; warm chocolate and cold mayonnaise; a sharp knife and a beating heart. The sound of Kerry’s buzzy voice and Liliana’s squeaky voice annoyed Alice - disturbed her, too. As such, she would rouse behind Takeshi, and her hands would stroke across his bare chest; her lips skipped across his clothed back, and yet he would feel the heat of them - more so, when they reached his neck, and traced up to his right ear.

"Ta~ke~shi~..." she purred in her awakening state. However, it was the firmness in his tone, the denial in his word, and the lingering presence of the others that promoted her next motion. "So loud..." she cooed at him, before tilting his head with her left hand, and capturing Takeshi’s lips; her right hand walking down his side, and massaging his thigh - danger close.

Takeshi definitely wasn’t saving face, that was most certain.

Especially when Alice added, "I rather liked the taste of your Royal Tea."

Yuki

Yuki came to a stop beside Kerry as her own nose wrinkled up as she glanced over at Kerry raising her eyebrows in a bit of surprise. Remaining silent herself on the matter while letting Kerry do all the talking for the moment. A small little mischievous smile forming upon her lips as she glanced between Alice and Takeshi. The dots quickly connecting in her own head much like they had in Kerry’s.

“Well, well, it seems that others had a very important mission going on as well, one that seems to have taken quite a bit of energy and effort I would imagine, and I thought we where having all the fun, but it looks like someone was taking it to the next level while we were away.” Yuki bringing a hand up to her mouth still smiling as she tried to hold in a little laugh.

The mischievous yokai finding the situation far more amusing then anything else as she watched Takeshi and Alice react to Kerry’s response. Watching as Lilianna took them into a shroud for healing almost upon arriving to the scene. “Oh my, it seems you have touched a sensitive subject my dear little hornet, I wonder what will happen next, it is such a exciting time, almost like a story book….” Yumi let out another little laugh as she leaned in to whisper to Kerry. Enjoying herself in this moment as she found the whole awkwardness of it quite amusing despite the serious repercussions that could result from such a relationship if it ever became public knowledge.

“Though, I will admit this was the last thing that I was expecting to learn about after returning from the mission and getting some relaxation at the hot springs, but I can say you guys at least keep things interesting for me, soooooo when is the wedding” Yuki smiling as she clasped her hands together behind her back keeping the mischievous little smile as she let a little tease slip from her lips. Deciding to have a little fun with it while she could in the moment.

Shizuka's mist technique was well at work, and it seemed to be doing its job at first. The bandits helpless slashed at each other, panicking at the sudden onslaught of unknown warriors. He wasn't surprised that these sloppy bandits hadn't trained their mind's eye to realize they were only attacking phantasms. However, it was short-lived, as a large fellow armored like a Tengu blew the mist away with a well-placed cannon shot. Shizuka immediately took notice of the man's strength to even wield such a weapon.

Well, so much for the stealthy approach...

With their cover blown, Shizuka was about to quickly devise a counterstrategy, that was before Eula took matters into her own hands. She even tried to shield Shizuka from the blast at first with her uninjured hand. That wasn't good; He felt there was no need to cripple herself in that way, in addition she should've known that he could have easily dodged that attack. But now wasn't the time to reprimand her actions, it was time to act. She clearly understood this too, as she picked up the cannon with one hand using her supernatural strength and threw it back at the masked man. He watched, quite impressed, as he was sent flying back into the hut from where he came out of. The other brigands began to panic, obviously not accustomed to fighting manono. Shizuka was confident that Eula could handle the attackers flailing wildly at her, amateurishly telegraphing their attacks in a panicked frenzy.

Plus they didn't seem to be using glass weapons, so that also put his mind at ease.

"Eula-san, dealing with these men should be simple. Not a single competent fighter lies among them!" He exclaimed. One might think that it was foolish to for him to divert his attention while there were two bandits hidden away in the rubble caused by Eula's throw. Especially with those glowing arrow tips on the bolts. One would normally be correct - but not in this case.

On the contrary, Shizuka purposefully acted like he didn't notice them so they wouldn't be put on alert. The Kannazuki they saw shouting at Eula was nothing more than a mist clone he had conjured while they were all distracted by Eula's rampage. The real Shizuka was already behind the two archers whilst they were preparing their strikes, still none the wiser. His plan was to shoot their hands with ice bolts from his palm, injuring them and also freezing the guns so they couldn't fire. He wanted to keep some alive for questioning later.

If whatever magic that was imbued in the arrows still allowed them to be fired at Eula, he would make sure that the clone took the hit for her. After all, it was only right that he return the favor.

Of course, he couldn't be sure if the tengu masked leader was down for good. He had an electrical counter waiting with his other hand if the bandit tried for a surprise attack.

Terauchi Temple

Atsuha got even more annoyed at Skarsneek's rebuttals, finding them little more than convenient excuses. Their exchange was cut off, however, as everyone seemed to co-sign Hinami's suggestion for food. Atsuha had to admit, even she was a bit famished from today's events. Her stomach made a audile growl, her finger still on Skarsneek's nose. "I'm too tired and hungry to argue with you, and dinner sounds like a much better alternative." She said, sighing with an irritated groan. She didn't want to admit it, but the thought of having Skarsneek cutely put food in her mouth sounded tantalizing.

At that moment, another thought had popped into the spider's mind.

Up until this point, no one except Hinami knew that she and Skarsneek had done the deed on the voyage here. But the idiot at this point had made too many utterances that more than likely gave them away. Atsuha shot him the stink eye, annoyed with his big mouth. She actually found it weird that none of her other manono companions had picked up on that fact. Perhaps the other newer members weren't aware that Skarsneek was indeed a boy, and didn't think to take note of the scent? Some other members may know the secret, but if they did they hadn't revealed it yet. Thankfully, it seemed that everyone else was too busy dealing with Takeshi's little dilemma. One which even she, thought was quite humorous.

"Takeshi-san, you naughty boy~ Seems you've finally succumbed to the charms of the 'dreaded' yokai. I'm glad to see that you've learned that were not so bad after all. Although, I didn't take you for being into the cute Lolita type." She said, walking up to the young lord, teasing him as she always liked to. Her main goal was to keep all the attention on Takeshi so she herself could avoid the fire.

Hinami turned to Liliana and Io, rubbing her head with an embarrassed smile. Whelp, that's my sister for you! Hi there you to, my name is Hinami, it's really nice to meet you! She said, making a polite bow at the lich and fairy. "It's especially nice to meet another undead! You seem to be one of those smart types, since you're a sorceress and all. I'm afraid that brains aren't really my strong suit, haha..."

She then turned to Yuki, who also was teasing Takeshi of his little 'outing' with Alice. "Hi there, you were with Skars-kun on his mission today, were you. My name's Hinami, thanks for looking after him for us. We know he can be quite a handful!"

After uttering that statement, Atsuha shot a wide eyed glance at her little sister. "Hinami!!!" She exclaimed.

"WaaH! S-sorry Nee-san!!" She replied, covering her mouth with both hands in a panicked fashion.
