I made this RP a while back, and it unceremoniously died. Now I’m bringing it back because I want a Pokemon Trainer RP, and I really want to use this character again. Is anyone interested?

Welcome to the region of Kalos. You couldn't have picked a better place to train Pokemon. Kalos has it all. Big Cities, and quaint little towns. We have warm and sunny beaches, as well as a cold, wintery getaway. Most importantly, we have lots of native species of Pokemon that are waiting to be captured by trainers just like you! As well as our own Pokemon League. It's all waiting for you, all you have to do is get out there!

Movie Star André Bellamy is also a new Pokemon Trainer who is starting his journey. He has a busy film career, he doesn't have time for such things! Lately though, he feels like he's missing out on something, and wants to give the whole Pokemon Trainer thing a try. There's just one problem, André hates travelling alone. Sure, he has a bunch of people on his payroll, but he wants to make friends with people his own age. Being a young movie star doesn't give you much time for a social life.

That’s when he remembered, those friends he had back in childhood. He had to move away, and hadn’t seen them in years. Using is money and resources, he tracked them all down, sent each of them a letter, with tickets to Kalos (If they didn’t already live there) and meet up in Vanville Town. There, your strange yet fabulous adventure awaits! André is so looking forward to getting reacquainted with his old friends.

I’m looking for a small group. How small? Uh… we’ll see if anyone expresses interest.

There’s still room! Only 2 people have expressed interest so far. I’m hoping for a group of 4-6 including me. If I get a lot of people interested I can make it uhh… not first come first serve.

Video thoughtography. Able to create images from their mind into a video medium. Touch a camera, or a device, places s video file on it.

Maybe being able to see ghosts as well, which seems kind of standard.
May recycle an old psychic ghost hunter lad.
Loved finding haunted places to record and the ilk.

Ok, there’s canon evidence in Pokémon that suggests people who bond with Psychic Pokémon develop some Psychic abilities so I’m not completely opoosed to it.

But there’s gonna have to be a good explanation for this.

Right on! Currently thinking of a bit of a dour character to counter-balance the movie star (plus the idea of old friends going their separate ways and turning out radically different seems fun).

I've always liked the idea of having a character being someone who works in the governmental side of the Pokemon world just because it has to suck having a job like that in a world like Pokemon.

So I may go with something like that, or have the character more involved in the training/coordinating scene to be the tryhard of the group who is taking this way too seriously. Either way, the story concept provides some fun material to dig into for character creation.

So I was going to have all the characters be 18-19, but now I’m thinking of having them be older.

But wouldn’t it be kind of weird having a bunch of twentysomethings be just starting as Pokemon Trainers. Thoughts?

There's also those whom have connections to ghost types.
A ghost hunter obsessed with capturing them on film and possibly possessed frequently. Followed by a shuppet perhaps.

Could just have them be late starters.
Maybe there's a promotion to join the league as a trainer for a start up reward?

I think that either option, 18-19 or older both work. It'd be weird if the grown adults went through the same routine as the young trainers but I don't think the base idea of trainers starting off as adults is too difficult a work around.

Though I - personally - feel that people going on a "Pokémon Adventure" when they're 18-19 or older is a bit... Out-of-character for the pokémon-verse. Of course, I understand that most people don't really have a desire to play as 10-12 year olds (myself included), but from what we see in the anime at least, most people who're past their mid-teens either have jobs or careers, and the only "adults" that go on journeys are either the region champions, the elite four or random-ass characters-of-the-week who we never see again.

That said, what exactly is the focus of this RP? Are we just trying to be group of friends who're trying to re-live the excitement of their first journey (apart from André who never wnet on one)? Are we going to be doing the gyms/contests? Are we aiming for the pokémon league? Is it just gonna be a "wander around and get into random mischief"-type of deal? I really prefer to know what the story's plot is before I sign on for something, y'know? ^^

Most Pokémon RPs that I’ve joined, have some reasoning for the characters to be older. Because like you say, most people don’t want to be 10-12 year olds. In this case, I’m hoping the characters became successful at something (I.E. André became a Movie Star) and didn’t have time to go on a Pokémon Journey, even though they all talked about and dreamed of going one together.

I’ll be honest, the plot of this RP is a recreation of the X and Y games, but with our characters as the protagonists/rivals, and adjustments made to include Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde into the story. (As opposed to just one of them, and no Zygarde.)

So yes, there will be Gyms/Contests, There will be random mischief, and most importantly the characters trying to rekindle their friendship.

I’ll take any input. ^^

Hmm, but I think I'll pass on this one. Kalso is one of the regions I've got the least familiarity with, and it's been years since I watched the X, Y and Z anime (although Serena is still best girl, fight me!). I do wish you luck though and hope the RP goes well. :)

Oh hello

Been away from RPing for some time. Of course a good Pokemon idea would be what might pull me back in. Especially with a familiar face.

I'm definitely interested. I'm happy to play older characters. Honestly it makes more sense than a bunch of kids traveling unsupervised with powerful creatures. But that's neither here nor there. I do like the idea of everyone having focused on some other outlet or career path and joining up again now that they can for this.

We could also just have this be a world where it's normal to start a journey later on in life. I mean if we just say that it actually costs some money to do it(aside from that sweet free Pokemon healthcare of course), we got a simple explanation right there. But I'm open to whatever you got in mind.

Curious about specifically what you mean by recreation of the X and Y games. Is the plan to hit the same plot beats 1 for 1 with the exception of expanding the story to include all three legendaries?

Or do you mean recreation in the sense of using it as a template and altering/expanding from there?

A little of both tbh. I will be using plot beats from the games, but given the cast of characters, some things will likely change. Call it a reimagining.

I think it'd be kinda funny if one these older characters is a washed-up trainer who took on the League Challenge once before, lost, and is now having another go at it.
