Ah, right, sorry.
In the other "layer" of the forest, along the edge, you'll find mostly thin-trunked trees, things like birch and the like. The further in you go though, the thicker and bigger trees start showing up, like maple and oak and so forth. The only thing that's a real 'rule' is that you need to go deeper into the forest to find things like nuts, berries and fruit trees. Other than that, you can pretty much see whichever trees you want as long as they fit these criteria.
As for things like dry wood; You'll probably be able to find dry branches on the ground pretty much anywhere. There may be some dead trees or fallen logs too, though they'd be far less common at the edge or "outer layer" of the forest.
As for our resident treasure hunter...
These are however just potential loot, and I'd be surprised if she found all of it unless she spent a significant amount of time very carefully scouring each building. If ya find the carpet though, the color and/or pattern on it is completely up to you to decide~ Same with the vase. The chest is stone-colored, aka, grey.
