A soft chirping fills your ears as the blinding veil of darkness is soon swathed away by the flickering of your eyes. Dimmed sunlight and cloudy skies greet your disorientated vision as your mouth lets out the weakest of groans, your body struggling to even maintain a sitting position. As time seemingly slowly progresses, you soon take into account the environment around you; grassy, rolling plains with the occasional oak tree in the midst of a sea of pale-green vegetation. The skies above you are blacken, the source of such a depraved and hollowed atmosphere emitting from the top of the gradual yet high hill before you. Upon a much closer inspection around you, the sight of other peculiar figures begin to awake from presumably the same disconcerting seems apparent. Holding your chest in slight fear of such alien figures, your eyes widen in an horrific revelation as your jaw begins to slowly drop...
Your heart is not beating
You are Dead
The mind races, memories flow rapidly as fear begins to set in like the dawn of a demented sunrise. How can you be dead? You still breath, think, feel, and clearly are not some shambling, undead corpse. As you arise with the other shocked individuals of various backgrounds and stories, a crow soars above the band of misfits. Dropping a small scroll, you watch as the calmest of the unformed group retrieves the tattered piece of paper and begins to recite the words to the bewildered coterie.
"Thou who are reading this heed my words carefully. Maketh voyage to the Domain of Elyae, where our King sought to save his world by meddling with the workings of forces beyond his control. Once you have stepped your feet upon the glorious city, heed hastily to the Tower of Linette, and at the top of the momentum, your souls will find rest once again. Bewary of the Empty Ones that wander Elyae, forever damned to trudge through the streets of their accursed city in a violent, destructive state of limbo. I cannot give you any more information, but I can say that I wish you the best of fortunes. I pray that She will bless your souls, Lost Ones. Only you can change the fabrics of fate now."
Rapid chatter and blabber fills your ears as panic began to slowly set within the group. Empty Ones? The Tower of Linette? Just where in the hell are you and the rest of these supposed, "Lost Ones"? For what seemed like an eternity, the group had finally resolved their issues and you begin to notice how eerie the smokey clouds seemed to come in the direction of the gradual yet highly-elevated hills before the unfitting band of individuals. Sparking your natural curiosity, you begin to take lead upwards as the other Lost Ones followed you silently up the hill. One step after the other, the smoke's scent grew in intensity, the faint sparking and crackling of embers filling the air like fireworks. As you rest your feet upon the top of the hill, the rest of your hastily-acquainted companions look in a mixture of both shock and determination at the sight before them..
The Coastal Domain of Elyae
~I am the GM and my word is law. All I ask is a little respect please so we can all be cool like Fonzie, m'kay?~
~This RP will be graphic (PG+13), but in the boundaries of RPG's rules. Want sexy time? Take it to PM~
~No Godmodding, Autohitting or/and Metagaming~
~Have a problem with another RPer? Take it to PM. This is all about to have fun, not to indulge in the drama nonsense that a lot of RPers go here to get away from~
~I personally request that you at least post two paragraphs preferably as I intended for this to be more of a High-Casual RP~
~Try to post within two-four days at most and try to give two people a chance to post before you throw out another post~
~This RP is primarily about going into it almost completely blind. Most information, lore, interactions with NPCs, and such will be introduced over the course of the RP. As such, this intro post will actually be updated with more information as the characters of this RP explore and discover about the world of Elyae~
~For characters, I request that you do not make absurdly large or *godlike* creatures/entities/etc. Trying to sneak around in a scene with sewers gets a bit obnoxious to RP seriously when Godzilla and Cthulhu have protruded out of the roof of said sewers and is destroying all of Elyae by just breathing~
~Speaking of characters, do not make absurdly OP characters as well. This RP focuses a lot about tension and even the possibility of character death. As such, I don't want this *guardian angel* coming in to save the day with laser beams that shoot out of his eyeballs. Also, try to be creative with your abilities if at all possible. We've all seen superhuman strength, speed, and enhanced senses, so try something new!~
~You may only start off with one ability that the character is known for, and as the RP progresses, you will regain abilities that your character has in their universe due to a certain item. Check the *Basic Information & Lore about Elyae* Tab for more information on said item~
~Weapons such as firearms that require certain ammunition that is not normally native to Elyae is extremely difficult to refill. Items warp in and out of Elyae, so ammunition for your guns, lasers, or whatever will be hard to come by. Keep that in mind when RPing such characters, and of course, any equipment that is Medieval-tech and below is easy to come by.
~Each player has a maximum of two characters~
~I, and whoever my Co-GM is whenever I pick one, can only accept CS's~
~Please don't post in the IC until I get the starter post up. I don't think I need to state this because it seems so obvious, but I've seen this happen here and there~
~Most importantly, have fun and genuinely converse to me OOC about any issues, problems, or concerns you have about this RP~
Elyae takes place in a Medieval-Fantasy world that has been ravaged violently by civil wars, plagues, political intrigue, and the corruption of stability. Elyae is settled snugly in the High Mountains of Ya'rngrssil, which is located in the far northeast upon the *Russia-sized* continent of Atenos. Throughout all of history, Atenos has remained primarily a divided empire that is riddled to the brim with kingdoms clashing, alliances forming, and entire Houses being decimated. Elyae, despite all of this, has existed as one of the few places in Atenos that shows clear economic and social advancements.
However, strangely, even the lush sanctuary of Elyae fell unknowingly to the rest of Atenos. Reports indicate that the citizens abruptly rose up against their beloved King, yet if said reports were correct is simply speculation. What is known is that Elyae is not normal in any particular sense. Time itself seems almost irrelevant as creatures and even people of unknown origin seem to occasionally materialize within the city. Brave adventurers, however, have noted three consistences within this now scorched domain...
Empty Ones
/Former residents of Elyae, these hollowed men, women, and children are deranged and ruthless murderers. Whatever happened to Elyae's once prideful peasants, knights, and nobles is nothing but theories and myths. From their ghostly pale skin and their eerily black eyes, these common-folk's bland expressions give them the title of "Empty Ones". In terms of weaponry and tactics, Empty Ones simply use whatever is available and as a whole they are not intelligent in terms of tactics. Yet, be wary of them, as they are extremely aggressive and mobile enemies that feel little pain but can still die like a normal human./
Fragments of Aizeth
/Nicknamed by the first adventurer who encountered such supernatural auras, these holy, angelic spheres are only dropped after the defeat of a creature of great power. The item itself is, as mentioned before, is a brightly-glowing, cyan-tinted ephermical sphere. Most commonly seen levitating a few feet above the ground and in a gaseous form, these spheres upon contact will violently *explode* outwards, surrounding the host that touched the "soulsphere". Depending on the individual, the effects have been reported ranging from a quick burst of energy to acquiring abilities that are not possible my any normal human/
Rifts
/A very rare but often reported occurrence happening within Elyae, there are legends and myths of the very fabrics of reality being torn apart in the brief seconds. Objects and people flow in and out of Elyae, as if it is in a state of limbo. For reasons no-one truly knows why. Interestingly, it is theorized that the Fragments of Aizeth and these Rifts have some connection, as mighty beasts hailing from the Rifts commonly drop multiple fragments when slain. However, in Elyae, all form and logic of sense is pushed aside/
There are many locations within the densely populated domain of Elyae. Ranging from bustling markets to damp sewers, Elyae was once truly a city of sights due to it's diverse position upon the war-torn continent of Atenos. What ruins you shall you discover in such a legendary, frozen paradise...
The Red Woods
/In Elyae, there is only way efficient way to reach the domain on land due to the Ya'rngrssil Mountains coating the domain from both the west and the worth, and such a way is through The Red Woods. Long ago, these woodlands coated all of Elyae and were heavily sought after due to the thick, sturdy nature of the wood due to the generally cold temperatures of Elyae. Now, sadly, these woods are nothing more than a husk of their glory, residing not far from the south of Elyae. Some skeptics believe that the only reason these woods exist is their historical importance, as countless battles from greedy, imperialistic Houses have vainly tried to march their more experienced and outnumbering armies through the woodlands./
Bridge of Burdens
/Emerging from The Red Woods and heading north, an individual would soon encounter the first sign of civilization from Elyae minus the glorious lights and distant view of the bustling city. An old, wide, long cobblestone bridge spanning roughly 500 feet and clearly showing signs of decay and weariness. Not much is really known about these bridges, as most history of Elyae was lost when the city was scorched by it's own population./
The Green District
/When arriving in Elyae for the first time, an average commoner would be greeted within what is commonly nicknamed, "The Green District". In this district composes the majority of the population, ranging from typical peasants, merchants, guards, artists, and other men and women of several different crafts. Green was considered the color of poverty, but not in the negative sense. Those who were *poor* oddly shown signs of being proud of it, as if being apart of The Green District had some sort of vain social standing. Here, you will find markets, statues, courthouses, docks, and countless other attractions. Well, assuming that the Empty Ones don't maim you do death.../
Amphitheater of Anguish
/As one ascends up from The Green District in both a literal and metaphorical sense, one of the most popular attractions is soon visible. a small, yet still massive amphitheater. As to be expected, this was commonly used by all inhabitants of Elyae to observe gladiatorial duels between those whom have threaten Elyae in war and in certain cases some slaves. Whilst gladiator fighting in recent times has been frowned upon, plays ranging from comedies and tragedies echoed loudly throughout the night. Now, it is rumored that there is a constant burning light within the stadium, as if the heat from the bustling crowds had never truly been vanquished./
The Orange District
/Like The Green District, this much smaller, denser area is not one defined place but merely an entire area. Here, looming just below where the king resides, all nobles, soldiers, gifted individuals, and important visitors to the domain are located here. Unlike The Green Distrct, The Orange District is much less crowded and populated, bearing much highly-quality architecture such as refined stone and carpentering unlike the wooden shacks and cobblestone houses of The Green District. What is known about it's condition now is completely unknown, as few adventurers have wandered far enough to even reach The Orange District/
The Castle of Elyae, or "King's Peak"
/Obviously, with a domain, you must have a king. With a king, you must have a castle. The Castle of Elyae is self-explanatory, as this is where the Royal Family and all residing servants operate within. For a castle, it is not huge, yet due to the mountainous environment that Elyae is centered in it often gives the illusion of being more intimidating than what it actually is. As hinted at before, no information is known about the condition of the castle, as no adventurer has dwelled deep enough to notice/
Tower of Linnete
/Named after the current King's wife, this mysterious tower was erected just above King's Peak. Rumored to serve entirely for Miss Linette to enjoy the view of Atenos from far above, some believe that it is merely a strategic structure built to see if any incoming armies are marching onto Elyae/
