[IC] Fractions: A New Age

Mason had frozen, when Nessie had run, he had started wondering if she would appreciate him being there? Would she just want to be alone. Damn it, I should have gone. I'm her friend, she was sad. Friends are supposed to comfort each other. I'll go work off the energy at the training hall.

Alex turned into the doorway to the training fields. "We're here. For now I'm assisting the practical training."

Z jumped down from whatever rafter he was hanging from right in front of Alex with his cocky smile, he then looked over to the girl that had been standing under Alexander's arms. "Oh, Alex. Hitting on a minor, I knew you were a dog but.." He shrugged his shoulders and laughed before pushing a piece of her hair away from her face. "Or.. whatever the hell she is."

Alex pulled Nyx closer to him protectively. She felt him tense, but it was different from yesterday. Now it was more like when ge stood up for her as a child. Hitting his hand away from her, he glared at Z. "Hands off, Z. There are precious few things in this world I won't let you hurt. She's one of them. Or is this your way of saying you want to pick up where we left off yesterday?" Even Z would be able to tell that ignoring this warning was risking his life.

He laughed mockingly, as he nonchalantly placed his hand back on to his hip. "Precious huh? She looks like a pile of scraps." He leaned a bit to get a better look at her. "A pile of scraps in a scrap dress." His finger reached to pull the edge of the sweater up. "Well, now I see why you like her." Nyx pushed his hand away and switched to the other side of Alex. "Don't touch me." Her voice was low and quiet as she watched him while clinging to Alex.
"Well that's no way to talk to the person who got your precious Alex off his 'destroy the world' hype sweetheart."

Alex felt something snap in his mind, and before he realized what he was doing he had his hands on Z's throat. With entirely unnatural strength and speed he picked the man up and threw him down the hall. "I said hands off! " he bellowed, unconcously sheathing himself in white flame.

Z was caught off guard as he felt himself clash against the floor his head light as he looked up to see Alex engulfed in flames. Nyx moved in quickly grabbing Alex, the white flames spreading from him to her. "No! Stop please! Let's just leave." She pulled on him knowing his eyes were more stuck on Z than her but she begged for his attention. "Oh no princess, he's not going anywhere." Z stood and surrounded himself in natural flames. Conducting a few flares he struck them across the room as a warning before a larger ball of flame was in his hand ready to throw.

Alex barely heard Nyx, but he didn't want her getting hurt. He pulled himself away and a wall of ice shot up between them. Turning back to Z, the man could see his red eyes had turned silver and wild. The white flames surounding him turned opaque and vanished, leaving the space empty. Instead of a charred corpse like he expected, Z found Alex already in front of him. "Give up." He said simply, and then there was a silent shockwave, and he was holding a sword. He swung upwards at Z, a wild fury in his face.

Nyx threw up her fists against the glass, barely able to see the the two on the other side as she screamed at Alex to stop, she wasn't seeing a monster, she saw the young Alex sticking up to the bully he used to do, not the person he said he was. Z didn't know what to say, but there was no way he was going to back down, not even if he took threatened to behead him right then and there. Z dodged the first hit and put himself extremely close to Alex so only he could hear him. "Does she think your a monster yet, or are you going to show her right now?" His eyes burned in to Alex's.

Alex growled his answer. "If it's to keep her safe I will become the devil himself." Another silent shockwave and Alex was holding a dagger in his other hand, the sword crumbling to dust. He brought the blade up at Z's stomach, angling for his heard.

Ryan stretched his arms as he departed from his dorm. He had slept pretty damn late through the day... So he'd probably skip breakfast today. Ryan started to walk towards the training area, but he noticed someone he had not really talked to. The last time he saw this guy was during his Lucen training... He decided to perhaps greet him. "Hey. Haven't seen you around much..."

Mason started, he hadn't realized the guy had been there. "Uhhh..... Ya. Ummmm..... I'm Mason by the way."

"Ryan. You headed towards the training area too?" Ryan swore could hear something in the distance in the direction of the training grounds... Kinda sounded like fighting.. But then again, it could be simply a sparring match. Or his imagination. "Sounds like people are already there as well..."

"Errr.... Ya, I was. Umm.... Ya, I think Alex and Nyx headed that way." Though it sounds a lot more intense than I would imagine Nyx sparring, it must be someone else.

Z smiled and stared at the blade pointing at his chest, and then looked back up at Alex. "Do it, I lose my life and you lose everything you lived for." His smile was wicked but his eyes were hard and serious, knowing exactly what would happen if Alex was to end his life right then and there. Nyx was officially pissed, feeling the rumbling in the ground. "Aleexxx!!! God damn you!" The one thing about her flames is that they were colder than ice which wouldn't cause the ice to melt only to become stronger and her small fists had become beaten and almost bloody from the continuous banging against the glass.

"Oh. Maybe I'd care a bit more if I actually knew who those people were, heh." Ryan glanced over to the training grounds again, as the sounds of fighting got louder. Sounded more like a fight to the death rather than a sparring match. "Say, you hear that? Sounds like people are trying to kill each other. You wanna check it out?"

"Ehhh..... I guess so. Ummm.... that could be a tad dangerous, dont'ch think? Er.... I mean if they're trying to kill each other..."

"True, but we don't know that for sure. Sounds like it though. Your choice though man. I ain't too picky about stuff like that." Ryan pulled out his cigarette pack, taking one for himself and offering one to Mason. "Want one? Calms the nerves a bit you know. Tastes like utter crap though, but I suppose that's the price you pay."

At the last second Alex turned the blade away, cutting a deep gash in Z's side instead of killing him. Then he dropped the knife and as it turned to ash brought his hand up again and jabbed him in the same spot. Then he started beating him to the ground, delivering a series of powerful blows to various vital points. Finally he stopped with a kick to his face, and leaned down so he could talk. "I'm letting you go for now with just this, but if you touch her again I swear to any god that will listen that I will kill you. If you run, I will chase you down and I will catch you. You had better thank whoever you pray to at night that Nyx is standing there, or you wouldn't be getting this." He took his foot off of the man's chest and walked away, back toward Nyx. As he walked, the ice wall he had made started to his and sputter, and dissolved into steam. "Let's get out of here, Nyx. Please."

Mason shook his head, "Um.. no, I don't smoke. Er.... I guess we could check it out," Mason looked a Ryan, "if you want to".
