First, you still have a military alliance with the Ottoman Empire, so its bad taste declaring war on the Ottomans. Second, while your rulers might be willing to join the war against the allies, your subjects will be the ones who will be fighting the war. Austria just got out of the war. I doubt they would want to get back into it, especially against their "old" allies.

I'm sorry, but when has war stopped in this RP? Shouldn't every single country be in a state of open rebellion by now?

Also the Chinese i thought used the article of the treaty of Constantinople that stated Asia was Russia's sphere of influence as Casus Belli to declare war on Russia.

And a third reason is setting a precedence so that people won't just switch sides in order to screw over one side. I bet Outcast let the whole Greece swapping sides slide because, honestly, they probably wouldn't be doing much that the other members of the Allied Forces couldn't manage (Romania probably could take on Greece).

France already screwed over the Allied forces by withdrawing from the war because it reduced the number of fronts that the Eighth Coalition has to fight on. There has been a lot of tom foolery in this rp. I think Outcast wants to stamp it out.

I'll wait for Outcast's final word. I just don't see how Turkey making an alliance with China is somehow more believable than Austria realizing it's better off being friends with Prussia because it has literally nothing to gain from competing with them, while it has plenty to gain from allying with them.

Not only do I think it's actually somewhat believable, but compared to some of the stuff that has supposedly slipped in this RP, it's very mild. So forgive me if I feel like I'm getting handed a very shitty end of the stick here.

I just started playing though. How would anyone know if I made this move to "screw someone over"?. It's not like I have a history. If anything, I'd think I could be trusted given I've been the one who - even before joining - kept stressing "story over victory."

While I don't think that you are intending to screw over the allies, but swapping sides at the moment does screw them over, whether or not you intended it.

How is that my fault though?

I know I had Franz use some very confident words there that may have made it sound like Austria was about to kick everyone's ass, but really, you think NOW the allies are fucked? They were already losing.

France is what screwed over the allies. Austria declaring war on the allies is just piles insult onto injury.

Soooo... No more Jeff Davis... Stephens and Lincoln were friends in the 40s, so let's see how this goes.

Why do you continue to use the term, "The Allies"? It's just Britain at this point.

Um, no. Sorry, but I'm vetoing this one.Austria was just in a war with Prussia. Notice how they always found conscription easy? That's because the public supported war with Prussia. Immediately ending that war then declaring war on your former allies is not ok. You can have the treaty, but no removing kebab just yet.

Side switching of this kind is extremely precedented. In the RP, Greece, who should never have been allowed to if Austria isn't. IRL Prussia lost a few hundred thousand fighting Russia on the side of Napoleon and then switched sides once that invasion failed. Before that, Austria switched as well after getting their clock cleaned.

How is this my fault? What, I can't make certain decisions because they're inconvenient to people?

I'll pull this from a PM I sent Screech because it more or less captures how I feel:
I don't see why you're treating this like I'm suddenly supposed to be completely vilified. I have nothing against anyone OOC. And even in IC, I have no interest is "screwing people over". I just saw a good opportunity for me to benefit and took it, same as you with the allies.

But that was okay. And so was pulling Chinese support after digging through some ancient tomes in desperation. Forgive me if I sound a bit bitter. It's just a little frustrating.

Also, this.

Have you guys looked through wikipedia pages on battles around this timeline? Side-switching was a fucking pandemic. It really isn't strange, at ALL, which is what frustrates me a bit about this ruling.

War of the league of Cambrai and the Napoleonic wars come to mind immediately.

Seriously guys. Outcast already made his ruling. There is ZERO point in arguing about it now. Let's just step away from the table keyboard for, like, an hour and come back with fresher heads.

I can hope he reads our points and changes his mind. I don't see why I should just go "okay" without making a case. It says it in the rules - he's not perfect, he makes mistakes.

Honestly, you should form a PM in order to discuss it. Invite Boerd with you along with anyone else you feel should be present for it, probably better than having the conversation in the OOC.
