It is the victors who write history, dear boy; not those who are cut asunder.

"Then I'll make sure I'm not included in the latter group, but I'll do it my way" Sho said in return. That pesky little princess was starting to get on his nerves. Why would anyone prefer fighting like a coward with no honor? Sho couldn't quite get his head around her beliefs but admittedly, those two swords where two of the finest, if not the finest, swords he had ever seen. Especially the one she called Durendal; Sho bet that those runes where what gave the sword its edge and although it seemed old, it was well maintained, a sign that she had some sort of special connection to it. "Your father's huh? Fallen from grace?" Sho couldn't understand what she meant by that but didn't ask further questions as he saw Maddox coming towards them.

"How generous of you to join us" Sho would have said but Maddox gave him that look, that look people give you when they think you did something wrong. "Ugh come on, its just a building...nothing that can't be repaired..." he muttered. "Newcomer? I'll have you know, I've been a part of this guild for three whole months! THREE! I'm no newcomer..." he started protesting but stopped when Minerva pulled out a small pouch that, by the sound of it, seemed to be full of money. "And she doesn't care not showing that she is a noble..." he thought and looked back at Maddox, continuing his rant from where he left off until he heard Master Jamie calling everyone to get inside the guild. He shot a glance at Maddox and proceeded to get inside the guild hall.

[Damian]

Directing James over to Jarvis to get his stamp, Damian then headed to stand by Master Jamie on the floor in front of the bar, looking over the people as they came in. He knew most of them from the months he'd been with the the guild, nodding and smiling at them as they took their usual spots, whether it be sitting or standing or kneeling somewhere in the hall. He took mental note of those he didn't know as they came in from outside and waved at Mayt and Angelo when they came in. That meant Sasha was back and also that Penny would beeline to her after the master's announcement. Ah well, we can talk about the woman later. I really could use a rest.

Returning the majority of his attention to the crowd, Damian noticed that Lazarus was back and frowned. Where had he been over the months? Deciding it wasn't important for the time being, he noted the girl walk in with the twin sabers on her waist and frowned when he noticed the way she carried herself. Noble? Here? This is going to be grand... In the time since Damian had discovered his magic, he'd worked for six nobles and none of them had been worth the air they were breathing. Didn't mean that all nobles were that way, but the greater majority had about the same disposition from what he'd heard from other wizards. Then in came the guy who'd been demanding a fight upon arrival a few months ago. He'd vanished too, but the Master had had regular contact with him. Noting the others, he decided to hold a meet and greet when the master was finished.

[James]

James thanked Damian and then approached the bar, saying hello to Jarvis and taking the Phoenix Wing tattoo in golden yellow on his left cheek and then took a seat at a table nearby, with no one else sitting at it. It wasn't that he was shy, he just simply wanted to catch the Guild Master when she was done with her announcement to get a better understanding of how a guild was run and what they did besides odd jobs for people who asked for the help.

Looking around, he noticed lots of people were taking seats and that a small group were coming in from outside. Damian waved at two of them and James realized that he must know them at least semi-well. Any friend of his, I suppose. Getting comfortable, he waited for the guild master to speak.

Master jamie watched as all his members gathered round. phoenix Wing has grown, since the days of Jarvis and myself enlisting any potential magic users. We offered friends, family and home. I've been neglecting my duties, members have been finding their own jobs, and yet, this is still home. My guild. My family. Do you know how much I would sacrifice, to protect you? To make you all happy? Do you know how much I work, and still make time for you all? You are mine, and nothing will ever change that Jamie thought to herself, as she looked over the members, some new, some having been with the guild for a long time.

When it seemed like everyone was there, Jamie cleared her throat, accepted the glass of drink Jarvis offered him, and began to speak. "Some of you will not know this, others of you were there. Three months ago we had an S class exam, with the result that Damian gained the title of S rank. This was more then just a battle of skill, but rather a test of your merit as a guild member. New to the guild, Damian was nevertheless loyal and caring to his guild mates. He wanted, I assuke, to prove he belonged. Well. I regress. During that exam, one Member, Wes, disappeared. I have been researching this, as it seems impossible that a person can just disappear right in front of your eyes. But I am missing one crucial element for results. That is why I have tracked down perhaps the final piece of the puzzle. A book, by the legendary Celestial Mage, Lucy heartfilla, of Fairy tail, who experienced the phenomenon of disappearing, of visiting another world. As far as I know, the book is in the clutches of the magical council, incompetent though they are. I believe that they are as corrupt as any dark guild, wishing to convent magic and use it to gain power and rule. They will never control the guilds. Or at least not Phoenix wing"

Jamie paused here, took a drink of her drink, and continued "we need that book. So who is up for a little adventure?"

Mayt pushed his way forwards, calling out. "Master Jamie, I'm sorry but your plan isn't fair for the rest of the guild, and I can't agree with you at all." Mayt cruised his arms. "You're risking the reputation of everyone in the guild as well as Phoenix Wing itself. If this attack fails, or succeeds and they find out it was us, they will do everything in their power to hold everyone in the guild in contempt and disband it if possible. As well as, you're suggesting attack on the entity designed to stop magic. I don't know if that's the best idea. And calling them the same as a dark guild isn't fair either. You can say just about any governing body is just trying to gain power, and if they can do it with magic, only the most stubborn won't. Are we gong to fight nations now too because "All they want is power"?" Mayt was having a hard time controlling himself, his voice angry. "I don't think it's fair to risk the guild to save one person."

[Damian]

Stepping up to Mayt, Damian crosses his arms. "So you would abandon Wes to whatever fate befell him? You would go on living your life as though he'd never been here simply because you want to play it safe? Did you observe the Magic Council's forces movements over the last few months? The two other demons we stopped there was an entire unit just watching us work, making no effort to step in and stop or reduce the damage being caused by Demon and guild alike. During my travels from job to job, I've watched them 'arrest' members of guilds with extraordinary magic. Members who's records were clean because their guilds took jobs that weren't typically located in towns if the magic was particularly destructive."

His voice grew colder as he continued. "Even before I had magic, when I was with the Fiore Royal Army, the Magic Council did strange things that would reach my father's unit now and then. Groups of monsters being captured and moved to an undisclosed location rather than being slain, freelance wizards doing delivery jobs for people who needed the help going missing in the middle of the delivery after being stopped by Council forces. This Guild has always done what's right, and finding out what happened to Wes along with finding out what the Magic Council is up to IS the right thing to do. It wouldn't even have to be an attack, sneak in, get the book, look around and then leave, no fighting, no magic used." Turning back to Master Jamie, Damian nods. "You can count me in, Master. I'll always be willing to help a fellow guild member."

[James]

Watching the guy with yet another sword and Damian go at it, James sighs, shakes his head, and orders a drink while mulling over what had just been said. Accusing guilds that had done nothing wouldn't surprise him, seeing as the Magic Council was always ordering it's forces to somewhere there wasn't trouble. And if one of the older members had just up and vanished..."To hell with it, I'm in as well. It's my duty as both a member of this guild and a paladin to help."

Though this was not the weirdest thing Linda has seen it was pretty up there. She looked at the scene, a woman waving around a frying pan hitting a mage as he ran from her, and a guy repeatedly beating a chest with a staff, shaming it.... The ice had melted once the wizard was knocked out, as well as his weapons. The sudden thought accrued to her that she was missing Walkaflocka! She looked everywhere for him and found him in a different ally way. She picked him up and squeezed him and started to walk back when a group of about 5 or 6 dark wizards suddenly appeared and surrounded her. She ran into the walk that she opened a portal to and exited near where Galen and Kyo were. One of the wizards used a fire spell that travelled with the portal burning her arm. She yanked her arm away from the flame dropping one of the two scythe's and Walkaflocka. The group of dark wizards ran around the corner after her.

Galen looked up from the unconscious body (?) of the chest. the purple girl went and dragged more enemies int the fight.....fantastic. Galen looked down at the chest. perhaps it would finally serve a purpose besides anger management. he put the end of the bo staff between its legs, reared it back, and swung the staff. "FORE!!!" the chest went flying over everyone head and crashed into the dark mages with a satisfying thump.

Minerva Fairchild - The Lion's Fang

Through the whole debacle of the Master announcing the guild's intention and the discontent or contentment of members when it came to the notion of attacking the council, Minerva simply frowned. It was a rather dramatic and overly open-handed maneuver when it came down to the line of thought if this ordeal was even worth it. Risking not only the lives of those who stepped forward, this sort of offensive would inherently also risk even the families of those involved! Was it really worth it to try and save someone who was likely not even with the realm of the living any longer?

Could it be that the guildmaster had some sort of recklessly blind ambition she wasn't announcing?

Suspicion rose, and her eyes subtly narrowed.

Glancing sideways to Damian, the A-Ranked magi would finally speak. "I concur with your idea. Subtlety is key with limited or no use of magic at all. We stand as a guild united, however it is simply just that. We are fleas compared to the numerical might and advantage of the Council. Attacking openly would mean a declaration of war, a declaration of our guild to be a darkened one, and putting what family we do have also at risk. Do not be so childish as to think that risking the lives of so many just for one is simply 'playing it safe'. It is a legitimate concern to think that one might be branded a Dark Mage and then promptly executed trying to rescue someone."

Shrugging this notion nonchalantly aside, her precise gaze looked back up to Jaime then. "All of that aside, my Magic is more subtle than most. If you'd like for me to infiltrate the council, the Fairchild family name will not only get me inside, but allow me to be unescorted. I volunteer for such a task."

The red-haired mage closed his eyes and shook his head. Leaning against the bar, he had a clear view of everyone in the room. "Mayt," his voice spoke up, carrying over the others after Minerva finished speaking. "We're not risking anyone." Maddox opened his eyes and looked over at Damien first. He took the second of silence to memorize his face. Then his gaze swept over the rest of the guild. "We're just taking the first step to getting our friend back." With that, Maddox stood up straight and walked through the crowded hall to the front by Jamie. "I wasn't here when Wes disappeared, but I already know that it is likely the Council has the key to our success in getting him back."

"For that reason, I volunteer to get the book. There's no need for violence or confronting the Magic Council." Maddox looked over at Minerva and then Damien. Then he looked back to the bar at James. The other three people to so far volunteer. "The four of us is far more than enough," he added, before looking to the master. "We can leave immediately. There's no need to waste time deciding who will do what or whether or not it's even a good idea." Now Maddox looked back across the guild hall at everyone there. "We can have the book here in ten minutes if nobody else feels like speaking up."

Master jamie let them all talk. He stayed passive, and watched them all. Finally, he turned to Mayt. "I would die for any of you. One of our members has been missing, potentially in danger, for the last three months. I do not know what he has gone through, or what happened, but I know I would go to the ends of the earth and back, to save and protect any of you. We are a family, and I'd expect everyone to what to help save a member. Perhaps I am expecting to much, or have underestimated some of you"

She gave a deep sigh, and handed Jarvis her drink. "Most of you would know by now of the rise in dark guilds. However, less and less jobs are coming through to deal with them, which normally occurs through the magic council, as well as through the towns suffering because of the dark guilds. Myself and the other guild masters have noticed this. Nor does the magic council seem inclined to help deal with them. We believe there is corruption amoung the councils ranks. One has been seen in a dark guild. That is all the proof I need that a member or members of the council are maneuvering the others. I shouldn't have said they were like a dark guild, because anyone can be manipulated. It's the fact that nothing is being done. So we prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. I have requested several times access to the book. And had no reply each time. A spy of mine states the letters reach the council, but are always destroyed. That tells me that they know something, something that could lead us to our missing member, Wes. Imagine what it would be like for you all. Lost, perhaps hurt and perhaps in a place you do not know. Surely knowing your guild will come after you is a comfort. But it's been three months, and your hope begins to fade...I cannot stand by while nothing happens."
Sasha swallowed. She stepped up, and she began to speak as Master Jamie finished "two years ago now, lost and confused myself, I hunted up this guild after hearing rumors of it. I lost my parents, and my baby brother when I was eight. I lost my mentor when I was 12. I wandered. I searched. I tried to survive. And then I came here. I found I was welcome. I found i was valued. I found a place I knew I could always come back to. And it was the members that made it home. The building could be destroyed and I would still know I had a home. So I will do anything for any member. Because I owe so much to every one of you, those I know well and those i don't. I may not be the strongest, the smartest-I can't een read properly" here she faltered a second, before continuing quickly, "but I know one thing i am. I am determined. I will do this"

May looked at Sasha before sighing, letting his shoulders drop. "Fine. But I don't agree with sending multiple people, possibly to their death, to try and save one person who may already be dead himself." He turned around and walked over to the corner of the room, sitting in a chair and leaning back, letting everyone else argue and bicker should they choose to. He let himself breath a little, and calm down, not saying anything more to contribute to the conversation. He drew his sword and put it on the table, letting it be something he could stare at while he listened. He still looked angry and adamant, but he obviously wasn't going to come back into the conversation, save murmuring, "Either I've accidentally stumbled into a cult and no one told me anything or this guy was pretty damn special."

"All members are special" Master Jamie said "I would do the same for you all" she jumped down off the bar, and said "be prepared. We will leave in the morning. Whoever is coming, be ready. I would like numbers, even if it's just to have people on the sidelines waiting to see if anything happens or if they are needed"

She made her way to what appeared to be a messenger, accepting the message. He pondered it for a moment, giving the messenger a tip, and looking to Mayt. "Mayt, please, come with me a minute"

Mayt calmly sheathed his sword and followed Master Jamie, his arms crossed. He still seems to be seething about the argument, but he doesn't say anything to Master Jamie about what happened in the main guild hall. His entire posture suggests he wants to fight something or someone, and his energy is moving around him erratically. "Yes Master Jamie?"

"Earlier, Penny, Damian and the newest Member, James, encountered Melina, in a story too longn to tell for now. She has given me the location of your mother. We can go together now if you wish, or I can go by myself if you wish to stay at the guild. I imagine Sho would be happy to oblige in a bit of fighting" jamie said, having noticed Mayts demeanor. "I promised you I would do anything I could, and now I have this information. I won't go rushing off without you knowing however"
Penny let out a soft sigh, walking up to Sasha. She gave her sister a hug, and glanced about the guild floor. "I'm going to go get cleaned up" she told Sasha, "and then figure out what use I can be" she gave Sasha a smile, and darted off to her room

Mayt sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "If we go to get her now, we'll both be tired tomorrow. It's already late." He let himself relax, leaning against the wall. "I plan on going tomorrow, so I don't particularly want to be tired for that." Mayt fidgets with his sword idly, and once his anger leaves him he's just tired. "And if... Melina wants Mithera back, then she'll just have to wait a few more days for her."

galen looked over at the mages. that fireball was a bit to big...perhaps galen could block it? but all he knows is teleporting. but this could be the moment that he expands his abilities. he focused all of his power and set his mind to blocking, creating a shield in his mind, and projected it forwards. a tiny cube appeared in front of him, black as the void....but it was not big enough to do something. it was perhaps a 1/16th of the fireball. so use full.... so galen was forced to use his greatest ability. a ability that he had forged in the wild, that even the best fighters use....running. galen turned and ran as fast as he could from the fire ball. the little cube seamed to absorb a bit of the fireball, so maby its not compleatly useless. but he would still have to run as it is catching up with him at a very rapid pace. as a last ditch attempt to escape the attack, galen opened a portal back to the guild and jumped through it, using a bit more of his magic to close the portal behind him.

"That fucking coward." She remarked in her head. She looked a the situation, if she didn't do something then they would all go on Kyo who was to busy with that one mage. Even though she was handling herself just fine, it was still unlikely she would be able to take five on. She grit her teeth and grabbed her she's, sucking up the stinging pain from the burn. She open a portal in front of the fireball, using quite a bit of magic for a portal that size and sent it straight back at the wizards. The one with the guns and the other with the swords were able to dodge, but the others didn't see it from behind and got caught in the explosion, tossing them into the wall and knocking them unconscious. Linda remained on her feet but a wave of nausea came over her and started to pant. The wizard with the swords turned to Kyo and charged at her while the other pointed the guns at Linda. "Kyo watch out!" She yelled and then leaped for the stand to take cover from the bullets.

Mayt sighed and nodded. "Alright, and last I talked to Mithera she was falling asleep outside Clover Town. But I'll come." Mayt moved to let Master Jamie speak with Damian privately, heading back into the guild hall proper, and sitting in the back by himself. He pulled out a rag and began polishing his sword, ignoring everyone around him. It had been so long since he had seen his mother, he had no idea how she'd react when she saw him, or of she'd even recognize him. He sighed. So far the guild had been a mixed blessing, but something had to be said about the seeming loyalty everyone but him seemed to have. Mayt put a hand to his temple, starting at his sword. What was going to happen tomorrow is all he wondered about now, he knew it wouldn't end well. Even if no one died.

[Damian]

Hearing his name called by the guild master, Damian finishes the drink that he'd gotten from Jarvis and walks over, nodding to Mayt as he passes him by. He couldn't help but wonder what was going on that it was something only Mayt and the guild master would discuss, but it wasn't Damian's place to stick his nose into other's business uninvited. Summoning a small knife blade, and spinning the tip on his finger, Damian smiled at Master Jamie. "What do you need, Master?"
