Yup. I thought about my question more and realised it was silly in retrospect. What I was trying to ask is what the equation of an ellipse would be if that ellipse was rotated so that the line between its vertices would be diagonal relative to the axes. Then I realised that you could always rotate it so it would have a "normal" orientation and position, and then you would get the equation of that exact ellipse--just rotated a bit.
