I was only going to have him learn abou dozen or so words, maybe some pronunciation, then give up, as it's way harder than dwemer or the little bit of Alliyd he picked up.
Speaking of language, Faire has her journal wrapped in hide and suspended from her belt in a secure fashion. I'm not sure that you had noticed Roze, or not. It is written in the Falmer tongue so unless Dreet-Na or anyone could read or identify it then, its usage as proof of Faire's race isn't really viable.

I wouldn't imagine Dreet-Na could understand that, as all knowing as he thinks he is. But if it is discovered I'm sure he'd try and spend as much time as possible trying to

If I may add a few things to some of the topics now that I am present? @ The Topic of Learning Shouts: The Greybeards themselves study their entire lives, a lifetime of practice, meditation, and harnessing the power of the Thu'um and they barely know a few full shouts. (FusRoDah, Whirlwind Sprint, and Clear Skies) Ulfric Stormcloak trained with for an undisclosed amount of time, and learned what is labeled as "a shout" which is the same he used to kill the High King. A "dozen or so words" would be one thing, but to learn to shout with those words as well would demand you spend a life-time with the Greybeards. @ The Topic of a Mammoth Mount: Oddly enough.. this isn't the first time this topic has come up in an ESRP I was present for.. I did one quite some time ago with some close friends and a random joiner wanted one, we all voted against for a few simple reasons. Even though this person only wanted it for a "Pack Mount" it is still a Mammoth. It still wields tusks, it would naturally and realistically act as one, and on top of that Mammoth Calves are roughly the size of a large cow, and in the lore they are only tamable by Giants. Of course not everything this rp does is lore-strict, but I still feel it would present OP-opportunities as it is a gigantic Mammal wielding massive ivory weapons and the strength of a titanic mound of flesh. I vote against the Mammoth, sorry.

Oh, I wanted to clarify, is it cool that I posted again so soon, or would we prefer to follow a rough post order? I got carried away with the conversation.

Man: Actually, I think they also know frost breath. I'll have to attack them to be sure, though. But yeah, he wasn't going to learn to shout, as he doesn't have years to study. Learning their language so he can read word walls and the ruins, maybe even talk to them, he was going to try, but not learn much until he can learn from Parthanax. Parthanax could probably teach you much faster than the grey beards could, if only because he knows more about shouts overall, it being his native tongue, and the fact that it isn't a religion to him, but a way of understanding the world. Also, are you a hunter? Just read your description of cleaning an animal today, and realized it was highly realistic and detailed. I helped clean a few animals, but only really do fish on my own.

I kind of have to side with this, but I'm pretty guilty of using that creative freedom to my advantage. The actual Dragonborn died meaning the power of mastering the Voice in a short period of time was lost with him/her. For gameplay, that means the characters have to take down dragons and all sorts of nasty creatures without the advantage the Dragonborn had. And we surely don't have several years to learn a single shout. However, I get the impression he was going to learn to interpret the language a bit. That could be useful! Deciphering between a kill command or a retreat command (just an example) could prove vital. That wouldn't take years and still have its uses! Maybe but probably not too much. As for a mammoth, you can certainly make an entrance but the Dova..group (whatever we are called) don't really have pack animals or mounts. At least I don't believe so. We will also be traversing a lot of narrow and cramped terrain which means a mammoth is not likely to follow or die trying. Similiarly, a mammoth is a massive target with all that wool/hair for a fire-breathing dragon that you might have to be ready to see your companion die. Gameplay-wise it is restrictive and kind of useless, but restrictive and useless items or flaws can make for fun gameplay so whatever the consensus decides, I'm with them! :D But take all that with a pinch of salt, as I did kind of pick an almost extinct race.

@ Pirouette & Unknowable: I was not implying the sole purpose was to learn to shout, I do apologize if that was perceived. My mere statement was to ensure everyone understood learning to shout would be troublesome and almost illogical unless we do a timeskip of some time later in the rp. I am on board with learning some words of the Dovah language, it would be useful. @ Unknowable: I'm a person who has hunted before, and also wants to start taxidermy, leather-working, and Blacksmithing as hobbies.(Taxidermy is also a possible career choice.) I haven't hunted for a short while though, but I thank you for the compliment on my post. @ Topic of Mammoth: Pirouette did bring up another good thing.. size & movement. As well as to get to Kynesgrove, we have to move past a tavern and up a road, etc, etc. This will be similar to many things, a Mammoth would make entering and being near towns, settlements, and civilization in general very hard, as the public is like myself in understanding the only thing that is able to tame them is Giants. If it were possible, Nords probably would have by now. Bahaha.

Here are my strategies for dealing with the dragons. I know some are rediculous, but we'll have to decide. 1) Get one or more to join us. This might mean befriending them, or it may mean joining them as their priest in order to get them to turn. Fair warning, when we run into our first named Dragon, I intend to have my guy grovel his ass off and offer himself as a servant. I doubt it would work, but he'd rather be a slave than dead, and he'll turn on the dragon later anyway. 2) Weaponize the shouts. This would mean a huge shift in the Grey Beards, though, as we can't learn in time. 3) Turn the armies against the dragons. I doubt one of us could get Tullius and Ulfric to sit at the same table, though, so maybe trick a dragon into attacking them both, giving them a common enemy? 4) Draugrs. That is all. 5) Can giants be reasoned with? If so, it's worth a try. 6) Elder-scroll time travel thing. Heroes from the past. 7) Send Alduin to Oblivion. Might trap him for a while and by us time. 8) Get a god or, failing that, Daedra Lord to take Alduin on. No idea how to do that, and even Sheogorath isn't crazy enough to try. 9) Sovngarde travel + Heroes, because we're getting desperate. 10) Try to make a Dragonborn. Any theories on how to do that anyone? I know it would require someone to absorb a dragon's soul. 11) For the really desperate, obscene numbers of summoning staffs. 12) Keep fighting and hope we aren't all eaten. Yeah, I though about it too much, and I doubt we'll do any of them, but just in case...

If I had some land, I would want to build my own smelter and forge. Blacksmithing looks really cool, and I'd love to learn.

I want you to take no offense comrade, but the Gm and her Co-Gms(Leos and I) already have a fairly solid plan for the plot, though I think we might discuss a few of these ideas with her for maybe some things to pop up during the plot. I am not shooting them down, as I said we might pop a few in for things to happen, but we do have an end-game plan. ^^

You know... dealing with a dragon menace is scaled to be pretty difficult. Without Dragonrend, we cannot bring them down to the ground to deal the most damage we possibly can. Archers and mages (although dragonhide is probably resistant) would have to bip away at their wings until they can't fly anymore. Befriending a dragon would be difficult as we don't have a bargaining position. We aren't respectable in their eyes because we haven't mastered the Thu'um so we can't really hitch a ride to the portal of Sovengarde. Parthy is our best bet at an ally here. Unless we perform a capture at Windhelm. Without summoning one. Or have some other anti-Alduin dragon help us out. Whatever the case, it is going to be great fun!

Ok. Makes sense. They were just crazy brainstorming ideas anyway. I think the characters would probably try their own ideas, though, so do you mind if I try number one? It doesn't have to work, but it would be fun to see how the others view him apparently turning on them.

That is one thing I am going to talk about with Roze and Leos, although the time of Dragon Cultists is over and the Dragons have said they will not take humans as servants anymore. (This is due to them knowing the prophecy of Alduin devouring the world by his command to destroy everything.) I will however talk to them, because honestly you and I have some similar ideas, and by you mentioning I am thinking of bringing them up-front with them, and then everyone.

Like the writing style, it really fits the genre but on the whole Falmer bit; it feels like metagaming on how fast we can identify her race.

I can sort of see where you're coming from, but texts and whatnot still exist from the past to show what she is. Also, she looks nothing like any other race - most similar to Altmer, she still has many differences, the main one being her hair, skin and eye colour. Not to mention her dagger; which I'm going to have Niko mention. As stated in his bio, he's done lots of research into ancient civilizations. Although not having delved all that much into Snow Elves - as there isn't an astounding amount to learn, due to lack of evidence - he's done a lot of work in Dwemer studies; and within these Dwemer ruins and whatnot, I would have no doubt that Falmer things still existed. Such as weapons.

The races are distinctive, and up close it's somewhat easy to pull out a definition of what she is. But in terms of people who actually know what she is, is a scholar and someone who's centuries old. They're the most likely candidates to determine that.

FINALLY UPDATED THE OOC! So, I've added all the charries under one list, so people can find them with more ease, and I've put up a list of roleplayers and their status. I've kept certain people on so if you see their character posts still in the IC, you can take a look at their sign-ups still. I apologize immensely if I've missed anyone off - please check to see if I have. :) I shall now rustle up an IC post myself.

Okay, so the links to the characters located in the OOC section aren't working - don't know if that's just me, or what, but I'm having a 'fuck it all' feeling, so if y'all have any suggestions, that'd be mighty helpful.
