Well, a lot of guns aren't that complex, provided you have the know-how. The reason old guns sucked so much is more of a question of people not knowing the best way to do things. You'd be surprised how easy it is to make certain things. That being said, nobody knows how to make them here.

I speak relatively of course. I'm just saying with time and expertise guns are possible, though with no way to mass produce them or the ammunition you're gonna have a tough time. All the materials and the means of creating them are available for all but the most advanced of guns, more when you consider magic.

It took real humans about a thousand years more or less to go from inventing gunpowder up to modern guns. Guns have existed for what, six hundred years? I don't think anyone in Tiien has the expertise to make a gun :p
