Alright, I have something new to posit. But before that I want to seriously question the necessity of 'where is everyone right now and what are they doing because I don't want to read the IC' table. I think my quote just there pretty much sums up what I think of it. And now to the new thing: I'm thinking of involving a Bonus system for character upgrades. Sure, the first round of small things, like adding a sight to a weapon or replacing one that got broken or making a new bit of armor, would be free. But after that, it makes sense to me that substantial upgrades ought to be earned. And the way I'm thinking of doing this is this: More challenges and contests! And few to none of them IC! Let me explain this using my first idea as an example. Let's say I want to create a team of seniors at Beacon that are basically the A-team, a bunch of powerful dudes/gals who're ready to graduate and could rock a Riesen no problem. I would ask everyone interesting in having some creative fun (and earning Bonuses) to create a new character with certain themes in mind, like "theme: beast" and "character must be human". Some sheets would get posted, I'd be all subjective, and the winner gets a OOC Bonus that allows their IC character to make a big upgrade in Armory class. Such a upgrade might be something like a poison-breathing mechanical mouth on your shield, special dust shells to use in your tank, or an alternate form for a weapon already owned. I'd probably also allow advances in Semblance, where a user discovers a new and lucrative depth to their Semblance they've never been able to coax out before. There would also be challenges like 'write in five hundred words a brief story about your character finding his way through a maze and battling guards' and "work with someone else to exchange characters and write a five-hundred word short story from their character's perspective". I've set up a tally vote on the conference document for this purpose. Please take a side; I expect to see twenty-seven votes within the next few days. Just write your username or a comment or "+1". I expect this to have the opposite of the intended effect. What I think this will bring is a lot of people putting more focus OOC than IC, and we all know where that goes: deadfic alley. Nothing wrong with offering bonuses, but maybe doing a few missions IC would also grant us the ability to upgrade? I know you're trying to get the creative juices going, but as per above, I think the attempt is misguided. Now, if you were to implement both of the ideas...well, I think that'd have a great effect.

There is only one bonus issued per contest, and there won't be contests 24/7, and the bonuses directly affect stuff we do IC. If we're not planning to do IC stuff, then doing the contests wouldn't be of any real use. But implementing rewards for missions (aside from credits and lien, I'm guessing) does seem like a good idea. Any ideas for other rewards aside from the aforementioned and upgrades? Perhaps equipment upgrades from contests, and natural ability (including semblance and aura) boosts from missions? @Sapphire, tomorrow morning. I'm somewhat waiting for Shadowkiller to make a certain post before I do.

There are 28 players active in the IC with a number of NPC's on top of that. Should everyone post in turn, that is already more than one page worth of material that needs to be read carefully to figure out where people are and who they are talking to. I enjoy reading the IC thread as entertainment. Not as a piece of literature that I need to carefully analyse like I'm in an English class. I don't want to read three pages worth of IC posts five times over trying to figure out who can talk to who at that moment. the table I proposed was a solution meant to make the effort of creating an inclusive post that accounts for all characters present in a scene a bit easier. With that out of the way I respect your authority as GM and will follow your judgement. Finally, could the deletion of the table be undone? I would like to copy it for my personal use if no one else is interested.

This is something I can get behind. I fear that too much bonus content would distract attention away from the red thread that is the main storyline. This leads to confusion that can cause players to not post because they have no idea what is going on. On the other hand, bonus content is awesome.
