I got the feeling was that most of the people 'disappearing', got brutally murdered by Grimm. Or raiders.

Yeah, pretty much lends credence to my belief that that spiel he gave to the White Fang was playing to the crowd. The White Fang want to overthrow the current order and get revenge on everyone who wronged them. The plan hits a seriously flaw if the army that Cinder is building doesn't take the armaments that Torchwick can provide. So he has to get them on his side. If Vale collapsed then all his wealth would be worthless after all, though I could see him going for the 'Robber King' schtick.

Also reinforces the belief that The White Fang and Cinder's group will inevitably backstab each other on the verge of victory or shortly thereafter, allowing the heroes to swoop in and save the day while they're divided and fighting amongst themselves..

Unless this turns out to be some weird Star Trek type mirror universe, then yes, 'we' are the good guys.

So yay, more stuff to comment on.

First off, it turns out that Velvet is actually an upperclassman, and has lines now. So she isn't a freshman like everyone apparently thought. Weiss is a dog person, Blake is not (surprise surprise), and Tai Long is kind of a jerk for sending a dog and two weeks of food in the mail. And that dog is totally stuffed into Ruby's backpack, just saying.

More character development, Ironwood is a very direct, blunt kind of guy. Pre emptive strike with overwhelming force, end the threat before it begins. Also, history. Color based names come from some conflict that may or may not be related to the Human-Faunus War, though you wonder how they managed to fight these conflicts with the Grimm so prevalent beyond the walls of the kingdoms and the geographical distances involved. But I suppose things were different then. It might be that that war was what shattered the Moon.

Moreon, nice guy Ozpin, also genre savvy, and realizes that it's better to officially endorse RWBY's presence on the mission rather than having them sneak behind his back. Of course, considering who they ended up with, this can only end well next episode.

I was disappointed with the scene where he "bended" the rules. First point being, why would there be a mission available in that room if a first year team couldn't access it? Everyone at that meeting was a first year, so the fact that the first mission team RWBY tried to sign for was off limits to freshmen made no sense.

That scene, I feel, was just there solely to emphasize "Hey, Ozpin is supporting team RWBY," but that should've been obvious when he interrupted Glynda voicing her suspicions when they were asking Ruby questions about the intruder.

Finally, what did that actually solve? As Yang said, they're still going to be shadowing caffeine junkie during the day and crime fighting at night. Rules are still going to be broken.

There are a lot of issues with RWBY, but this was just sloppy.

To be honest, I thought the exact same thing about the mission when that whole bit happened, and it was something of an obvious set up. I wouldn't be too sure about rules getting broken or such on the mission though, mostly because I'm not prepared to make any guesses as to what Oobleck's sleep patterns are like, or that he won't run them so ragged during the day that they just want to drop.

Or, y'know, Ozpin bent the rules from the very start. With Ruby joining Beacon. Kept bending it ever since.
-By now his rulebooks double as bowties. So best not to dream of how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

So, just so we're all clear... Ozpin is one of the good guys? Right? All the rash and insane stunts he's pulled were for comic effect?

Well, yeah, which just furthers my frustration with the "bend the rules" scene when they're picking missions.

And hahaha, no clue to be honest. He seems good, but there might be something fishy going on.

Well, called it on the dog. No big surprise.

Sadly, no Oobleck combat, but my respect for him as more than just the guy with the coffee addiction has risen tremendously.

Seeing Mountain Vale was definitely interesting, and the Mumakil-esque Grimm. Meanwhile, character development, even if I wasn't too surprised by it. Most of that was stuff I had guessed about the trio beforeheand, but hearing it said is nice, I guess. Decent episode, looking forward to next week.

Dang, Dr Oobleck's speech makes me want to be a teacher. Again.

The big character dev momente:
1. Oobleck already knows Ruby's reason. Ozpin told him. ;)

2. The other three aren't 100% sure of themselves, yet. But they know why they fight. (hint: see 1)

3. Not all Grimm are mindless like Pyrrha stated in Vol 1. Some are actually quite rational. Peaceful, almost.
-Which further makes me consider whether or not the huntsmen are the good faction in this fairy-tale.

Further question: how does Roman keep flaunting so much Atlas-shit? Like.. he rolls-up in several Atlas-frigates in the first episode... nobody does shit about what would obviously look like an invasion-fleet over Vale? Who in their right mind is fun--- oh... right. Schnee (V1E2).
-Now stop and think about Char dev note #2.

BTW: DO NOT DO FAN-FICS of relationships you want to see become canon, especially if it involves a plot-twist the overworked writers haven't thought of yet.
-Your posts are automatically copywritten. The only exception would be predicting a 'ship that is already written by RT-staff in a file somewhere.

It would totally ruin Monty's creativity to perma-block him from writing a Dr Oobleck/Jaune slash-fic.

I like the touch of Oobleck not asking Ruby why she wants to be a huntress. Emphasizes her assurance, I think.

In response to three, I wouldn't say they're actually intelligent, they've just been trained to realize that attacking humans equals pain, and pain is bad. Kinda like how we domesticated dogs and stuff. Also, those elephant Grimm were like hundreds of years old. I doubt most Girmm ever get to that level in the first place.

And I still think the Hunters are the 'Good guys'. Peaceufl coexistence is not possible at this point, given the example of the giant abandoned city they just had the episode in.

Also, I think Roman rolls in so much Atlas stuff because Atlas is the country with all the tech, so naturally that's what he'd use.

Atlas is also the same country the Schnee dust corporation is. A country known for its... less than reputable business-partners.

What better way to wipe-out the competition? Than by removing the source of most of their power?

What happens to semblance-abilities after the dust has dried-up?

What will the Grimm do?

Atlas will provide salvation (it's in the perfect position to do-so), but for a price.

-Also, previously as noted, Weiss and Blake are both named after colors (German and old-English), which would be odd if that tradition were to be a human-exclusive of the human/faunas conflict; more likely it had more to do with the Grimm-war... which must've been ongoing while they were born.

The Schnee Dust Company already has a monopoly. They have no meaningful competition to get rid of. Still, as stated, I could see attempted war profiteering, engineering conflict to basically force people to buy their weapons. Of course, the shown competence of everyone besides Huntsmen leaves that plan a little bit to be desired, but hey, it wouldn't be the first time people have done stupid stuff like that.

Most Semblances work without Dust, and I doubt the Girmm will do anything differently either until they realize the humans aren't killing them as much, then they'll push all the harder.

Well Ruby is entirely useless without Crescent Rose. Like ridiculously. I'm not surprised, but it sucks for her.

I didn't really catch everything Oobleck was talking about with the underground city, lol. He's hard to keep up with. I'll have to give it a rewatch. I'm also surprised didn't jump in after Ruby the instant she realized she probably fell. She seems like the type to do that imo.

I'm liking the internal conflicts WBY are having. I'm also very proud of my Weissfu to know better about business ethics despite her without-out-a-doubt-dick-dad. I'm still like 99% the big knight she fought in her trailer is symbolic of her father. And her every word about him just makes me more sure.

And I typically find Blake to be an uninteresting character, but I did like her character development tonight. Especially her comparing her personality to her semblance.

It t'will be interesting. It's also convenient that the structurally weak part of the road didn't give way when the White Fang guys were walking over it. But that be plot for you.
