Species: Scyvi
Scyvi is a species that does not age per say, or rather once they are grown up they won't die a natural death. Instead Scyvi lives until it is time for them to let the next generation take its place. This is done by two or more Scyvi "merging", resulting in a new generation is born. There is no rule of thumb for how many new Scyvii will be “born”, but the minimum is 1 for each of the “parent” Scyvi. However, this being extremely painful and suicidal, even the altruistic Scyvi holds their individuals in high praise. This means that it has ease that new Scyvi are born.
A Scyvi’s body is noticeable for two aspects; firstly it is made up of a liquid kind of material, it isn't as soft nor as transparent as water, it is more like liquid metal (it holds a certain amount of mass still) - however it does appear with a certain transparency - almost like ice or diamond. The second thing you might notice is, that each Scyvi has a different color to them (though still somewhat translucent ) and if you get close enough you can sometime see threads of energy whirling within them in different colors - almost like veins in a human body. Typically a Scyvi stands at around 6 feet of above, though the highest Scyvi that have been recorded was 8 feet.
It is this material that their bodies are made of, that has garnished them most praise: their bodies holds so much energy (it has been theorized that their bodies are actual compressed energy) that they can heal severe damage to the body. Because everything is made up of energy, the Scyvi are able to "connect" to it, and mend severed links.
Furthermore their special bodies also make them hard to kill. Shooting them will just make the bullet fly straight through them, and stabbing them will do the same. Pain, however, is still something they can feel (or maybe not? Interesting character interactions ensure…? ). However if you spray them down, cut that straight through or smash them to bits they will die. While this does seem like the perfect body, it does come with a downside: first off the Scyvi aren't that strong. To put it into perspective; they possesses the strength of an old teenager, and the speed of a grown up. However they do hold great agility and speed, gaining them the ability to dodge out of attacks and get to positions that would otherwise be impossible.
Other than their different colors, Scyvi are very hard to tell apart. They have no hair, no facial features per say (maybe they can form them if they like? ) and it is almost impossible to tell what gender they have. The reason for this is that gender holds no meaning to them, however, after getting in contact with other species the Scyvi have learned that it is easier for the other species to interact with them if they appear as either male or female. How the Scyvi does this is by simulating their "voice" (they do not actually communicate orally, instead they communicate with telepathy) as one gender or the other. The second way to spot what gender a Scyvi is if they wear one of their racial masks. The Scyvi has begun, after meeting the other species, to wear different masks in order to hide their featureless faces - once again to ease their transition into the new societies. These masks can generally look like anything, some keep them humanoid, while others keep them more abstract - however it is a part of their culture that holds a great meaning to them, and each Scyvi’s mask represents something to them, and through their lives they tend to add details to their masks - almost like it was a story in the writing.
As clothing they tend to wear cloaks and robes, looking more like a traveller than anything else. Their clothes tend to range in a wide variety of colors and holds a great deal of symbolism and marks. This is sometimes used with a travelling staff that can be doubled as a defence tool.
Personality:
Scyvi is a very peaceful species, they are very peaceful and have never experienced such a thing as ‘war’ - that is before they were discovered by other species. They are incredibly kind and empathetic, caring for everything that exists in the universe. This continues with their natural habitat: On their homeworld of Na’gu they live in villages made out of natural resources (such as wood, stone etc.) - some even seems to have been bended out of rock or wood - looking more like tribal villages than anything modern and industrial, using animals and other ‘gifts’ of the nature - referred by them as the ‘Na’gi’ (or “The Great Mother” in normal tongue). The Scyvi has a special connection to the nature, they praise it and honor it - to some species this makes them appear as under-developed, however while the Scyvi doesn’t accept the industrial world, they have bonded with the nature world to an extent where they can communicate and bend it (how they make their villages).
While they haven’t developed much in certain ways, they are smart, with their average intellect hovering around what humans would consider a genius - how they have developed their psychic abilities: by opening up their brain functions to an extent that normal humans cannot achieve (albeit Scyvi doesn’t have a brain as us humans understand it), and allowing them to gain incredible knowledge about medicine - a trait that is greatly respected throughout the universe.
Abilities:
Scyvi is a peaceful race, and as such they do not hold arms. Instead they rely on the psychic ability. Younger Scyvi can send a psychic shock wave, usually they accompany it with a gesture of their liking, that will shock/stun the target for a brief moment. Older Scyvi are more capable: they can project the telepathic connection they have within their race, towards another being. Now the process is incredibly hard to understand for lesser beings - that is in brain-capacity - but the general idea of it is, that they form threads of psychic energy that they project towards the target, and by manipulating the energy within the brain of the target, they can somehow trick the senses. Of course this isn’t easily done, and even the older, more capable Scyvii (plural?) has a hard time doing this to a crowd - though tales of psychic masters have been passed down the Scyvii legends, some say that once every 800 years such a master is created.
Scyvi also possesses the ability to connects with nature and other species through their psychic abilities, this have been a fundamental ability through their history as they have always been connected to the ‘spirits’ of the worlds - and as such many of their rituals and life-styles exists around this connection. Fun detail: many (especially younger) Scyvi uses this connection to connect to a pet of their liking, forming deep bonds that can even go so far as a constant psychic connection between the Scyvi and the animal.
Some Scyvi do wield non-harmful weapons on other worlds than their own, since they have learned that while they won't harm other's others will harm them. Therefore they can wield weapons, though at best the will leave you paralyzed for a short time. Also, not liking guns in general, they tend to keep to staffs or other non-wounding weapons.
While the Scyvi aren’t seperated by race, color or hate - they instead live in peaceful unity - they do have different clans. These are usually build around each village, and while it doesn’t mean anything special to be in one clan or the other, it does give them a closer relationship within the persons of that clan - you can see it as a form of ‘family’. However, there is one ‘clan’ that stands out: The Nai’co (litterally “Sinners”).
It is generally understood that the Scyvi is a peaceful species, however no single species is completely singular - and so is the case of the Scyvi: within the ranks of the Scyvi there exists a small group, no more than a few thousand that call themselves ‘Nai’co’. What sets these Scyvi apart from the rest is that they have not only studied the art of healing and psychic communication, but also the opposite areas: the dark arts of death and pain. The reason for this is that, in their view, one must both understand the light, but also the darkness in order to grasp the energy that is life. Generally this order is ignored (Scyvi rarely holds negative emotions towards each other) by the other members of their species, making it not uncommon for the members of ‘Nai’co’ to travel beyond the realm of their home planet to other planets in the quest for enlightenment. These are also the closest thing you will find within the Scyvi that is akin to a soldier.
