Indeed, well. My plan will be to get the hell out of the city.

First off the town will probably be under some kind of quarantine for about five hours at most.

A. the infected will overwhelm the military forces and open the boundaries.

B. the military forces will be called back so they can napalm the city. In hope/fear to stop the virus<---never works.

C. The infected hear that damn car alarm and kill us all.

D. A series of A, B and C. The infected will overrun military forces just as they get their retreat orders. Thus the infected have already broken city limits and then we all get roasted.

Again these are just things my character is thinking about while he sits there with a gun in his face. My character would know of these things because of his paranoia and he could probably bounce it off the military person when he arrives.

not bad, but.

A. this is a relevantly small town military forces would focus on larger cities or the border. from the RP story, the Z are moving north from mexico, getting to Georgia would mean we are well beyond military intervention. either they have failed already or have retreated to defend the major cities (such as Denver, NY, LA etc.)

B. see above and if the city is being Napalmed it is a perfect reason to get out.

C. yes they will hear the alarm and that is a good reason to exit the civic center and leave through the other side of the building.

D. a zombie infection will mostly stay within the city limits until the zombies have reached a critical mass. which with our GM given infection rate would be quick-ish, but would probably take a day at least to consume the town and move on. we are at approximately 4-5 hours. it will take another 20 hrs or so before the city is totally gone. which is another 10 hours of chaos that we can use for our advantage and leave the city with relative ease.

also, we are hundreds of miles from the US mexico border. at a brisk walking pace (2-3 Mph) it would take at minimum two weeks to get to Savannah from the border, probably more like three. by then the military would have done everything in their power and given up. giving evacuation orders and retreating to defensable positions.

thats what i'm thinking.

First of all Zombies would move in herds in every direction not just north. Also is the virus able to jump species? The infected could have gotten on ships and are randomly sailing throughout the world. Same thing with airports. Did we find the origin of the outbreak fast enough to stop its spread? Probably not. What about organ donors? What happens if people were infected before anyone noticed the outbreak. Those parts go to anywhere on the planet and allow the spread of the plague. Given the time span between people turning it is possible for many infected organs to spread the virus to different areas. You are under the impression that greed hasn't gotten a hold of mankind. Most people finding the organ donors are in it for the money especially in the less fortunate areas like slums and such.

To assume that the outbreak hasn't spread past the border by now is ignorant and will end up getting everyone killed. What happens, for example, if we get our little group to head north under the assumption that the outbreak is behind us. Meaning we wont be looking for it in front of the group. As in if there is a herd already there and we just notice it they could swarm us. Sure a few characters may live but with the little girl and other females in the group... how many men will allow them to die? This is where my character would probably die because he tried to save someone. All because we weren't paranoid enough.

My character will end up explaining this in game just so everyone feels comfortable. He will also mention that the group will need supplies. He has a generator at his house that runs on different fuels and a battery converter. Although that is like two blocks from where they are. Also he has some archaic weapons... lots of knives. Sadly he doesn't have any guns although he does have his concealed carried permit.

From the GM's 1st post it said that the infection was heading north. So, yes it has crossed the border. Now I will concede that I didn't think about boats. However travel by plane is unlikely but plausible due to short incubation period of the infection.

That said. Organs and such could spread the infection as well. But the GM didn't post anything about boats, planes, or organs while I agree that it is probable that all these methods are happening. So I was working strictly off the info the GM provided.

And, I (my character) would assume the worst case scenario, which is, we are behind the infection and any direction we try and travel could and probably would have us encounter the infected.

Also. Barricading in and try to survive is suicide. Either we draw a horde that is unfightable. Or we run out of supplies. It would only be safe to salvage supplies for the next 10-20 hours, after that there are too few targets to distract Z and every trip after that would draw more and more Z to us until we could not leave and either died of starvation or the barricades where destroyed. Or, if we did manage to hold the gates long enough, we would drain all the supplies around us. Being on the road and only stopping for a few days at most, we could salvage as we go and have a Much much large area to live off of.

As for traveling I would assume there is a horde over the next hill always. But if we scout and get our hands on a vehicle it would be safe enough (probably).

Oh, and the final goal would be ultra low population density. Such as Midwest farmland. (Which would be great for many reasons)

I'm just saying my character is paranoid. Also about food and water... he has thought about that as well. He does have some MREs stocked up because he is crazy... probably crazy. Did I say barricade them in? That would take loads of prep to do so they don't die. It is hard to figure out how to effectively do that considering there will be crazy people out there. Example. Religious groups that form together under fear of god or what have you. They will band together and kill anyone and everyone. The crazy ones that is. Also there are cannibals to think of. people who just couldn't find food and in stead of starving started munching on one another.

I meant for us to barricade a place up for ourselves as a base of operations. And a few MREs won't be enough we meet to be think I about having months worth of food, for six people. Which is. Well... A lot of MREs

I know how much food it would be. Realistically we would probably need a vehicle that can keep food cold. I mean yeah we could live on canned goods and MRE's for a while but if we got a Schwan's food truck we could hold a good amount of food and keep it frozen. So we could enjoy real food every now and again. Although not a top priority. We as a group would need to find food, drugs, camping gear, Vehicles, weapons and whatever else we could use. Maybe something to clean up the blood and stuff. Something to cover our characters smell.
