probably the former. ;)

hahahah. Maybe its because it seems structured around a war, if I'm not mistaken. Or rather built off one, similar to an RP, so people may think they are stuck in that sort of structure.

I think the MV would work better with a little less structure. Couple places like the HQ, to build character interactions, and let the fights settle it and build from there. Keeps it simple, and let's people build outside of constraints of trying to tie things all into the given story.

I was thinking of having a neutral haven of sorts for character interactions solely.

I think Rilla's strip bar and grill should be the neutral place.

Very tempting...

Also this is why I asked about the HQ lobby. Seems as good a place as any to have it. Assuming no one burned it down to the ground..

That still leaves what could be the bigger issue, no? outside of the Rilla Strip Bar and Grill, host of this years Nexus of Worlds tournament, with locations in the Lobby and HQ, everything still connects back to the three way war, right?

Best bet is to let people create their own stories without tying into the big theme. Like the HQ, there are different reasons for everyone to be together.

My characters sort of broke the fourth wall, by referencing being on a team to earn points in a unseen Gods game against each other. No idea what reason Skally had for his characters being together.

Well not as much as you think there is a world outside your front door it goes on. Your personal life does not impact people in Europe. There is violence around the world that bears little impact on Rilla. A war as background does not mean it will impact the characters at all. It is much like real life.

Hahah. I do. We aren't depleted, here, because they order so much shit. Four boxes of shit when we can only get one item from said box on the damn shelf. -_-.

But shit, they paid me 491, after taking out 126 dollars in taxes, for almost 80 hours of work.

Has any progress on this been made at all, out of curiosity? It doesn’t seem very organized or far along, which I’m slightly lost to be honest. *actually had found time to find the thread finally or she thinks...*

I get the feeling this isn’t the whole world break down or building process, after spying on the Arena thread and such. Anyway, addressing the issues I see in this thread (if there’s any others, or you’ve gotten more developed than I thought, feel free to update me on this thread) are listed below.

<Snipped quote by Rilla>

Not allot of interest apparently if any. :K

Even if there's a small group interested, you actually start to flesh some of the key worlds and the mechanics of how this all works.

A few questions that came to mind are these:
How does the multiverse work?

Outside what you already wrote up, this ranges from how PCs are able to intertwine and reach each other to how a world becomes entangled with the current war, and what happens when that occurs. Does the warring groups still play by Ao’s rules to the letter, or are there smaller scaled ops shenanigans happening in the background such as assassination attempts on key VIPs, interference over supply, covert missions, etc to gain the gate rights? Any these can easily start off as a non conflict then swirl into a brief or big mini war should something go wrong.

Other things to consider is if there’s going to be a single, interaction purely thread(s)? One where roleplaying, storyline, and more happens and when a fight scene happens, there’s an intro to the fight that includes a link to the arena fight? Is each world going to have it’s own thread, making this Multiverse into a sort of a mini forum within a forum? Mainly the reason I asked the last one, is so that way individuals could create PCs, stories, and even visit other worlds created without literally having to scratch through the other stuff happening. If that’s the case or an option, consider making a world template or basic description you could fill out then insert into that OP giving the gist of the world should an Arena Player want to create a PC for it.

Is there a center place, world or something that all the worlds connect to? A place that if an individual found their gate, they could easily travel through and end up there where they became educated that by activating the gate, their world is now free game.

probably the former. ;)

hahahah. Maybe its because it seems structured around a war, if I'm not mistaken. Or rather built off one, similar to an RP, so people may think they are stuck in that sort of structure.

Less structure isn’t always a good thing because you lose the continuum and end up with more problems when you try to piece together the history. Not saying it’s not possible, but rather difficult, especially when or if newbies who want to do their own thing come in. It also makes it harder on those in charge to order things and make them run smoothly unless you’re wanting everyone to run their own stuff all the time. Again, problems with that too. That can also be rather messy as well when people vanish, became too busy, and worse lose interest, you have massive worlds that really have little to no info on them outside IC because some people don’t type their info down. You would be forcing newbies to have read the IC in order to understand a world they want to be apart, a negative on the free form front, and prolong their PC creation as well as risk interest loss. Especially when there’s several pages to that thread in particular and even less fun when you have to go on a search and find for that storyline in a thread that holds all the stories.

As for the war bit, since Ao, from what I read, condensed the war efforts into smaller battles than the war’s influence is much smaller because you don’t have armies trampling around your world until you’ve actually lost. So the aftermath, in a way, is still pretty limited save for those that have been engaged in it for a while now. Which can be a fun aspect to explore with both your PC, as well as others, when it came to resisting the invading force. Mainly if the world has resources all three opposing sides need or want.

Also, on a last note, slightly interested in this but let's see how you answer those bolded questions first.

@Fallenreaper all good questions. The easiest and most honest answer is simply that the MV is a huge sanbox that requires everyone to build. Fights are ever present, however fights are only to advance characters through conflict. There are many none fighting opportunities in any arena MV. It is a question those not familiar with arena MV's often ask. The requirement is that the players have to agree on certain "hubs" for such interactions.

People mistakenly think all we do is fight. No we actively try to work a story into our fights. The NoW and WoTW are examples of this. Melon and I through very organic contact have developed a quasi-mythos between some of his characters and the Dreamers. Khan is advancing the Angar-Rylla who actively hunt the Dreamers.

Like any good MV it requires active players pursuing story threads with other players.

The NoW connects to all worlds. There are other methods of course. The biggest thing is defining the vision for the MV.

After that comment, I feared I was in the wrong area and should make a quick retreat. >_> I have a habit to get excited over stuff and oddly scare off people easily since I reply a bit faster than many.

I appreciate the answer and mentioning the sandbox bit helps some. I was worried for while I might seemed rude or too energetic for the MV, which in that case I just need to be told to tone it down. I understood the fight to overcome conflict, but I wasn't sure if it was like what Lyzan did with Insanity Isle or not. I liked that method a lot as it combined rping and arena for me, into a smooth flow by having a purely story thread with links leading into the arena whenever a fight broke out. Granted, I never got to test my mute Onix out before he went MIA but I still had fun. He was the one that helped reveal that some arena fighters strive for more than just victory and bragging rights. That even a lost fight is worth playing if you both learn from it and have fun challenging each other, that's the only reason worth. Mainly is to push each other's creativity and have fun doing it.

I see, now I'm curious about those other methods.

I would say he's already done that from what I read in NoW Tourney. >_>

@Fallenreaper Well the most common method besides the NoW or some NoW related artifact ( two in existence and currently on active characters) are FTL/WARP Drive ships. Whiteholes, Blackholes. Syncretic parallel worlds, and of course warp gates between parts of a galaxy/universe etc. Depending on the fictional setting of your character, their technology/magical level of sophistication should dictate their ability to interact with the MV.

Some characters just get lucky and find a magic "Doo-dad" that allows them to go anywhere unless prohibited by another player's designations on their "world" or "setting".

Nothing is set in stone: The last MV attempt had a group of players actively seeking to take the NoW and a group ready to defend it.

I might bring two into this or at least one, when I actually finish. I'm actually finishing up Iron's were coyote form which is tons easier than his first CS. XD Ironically, as I used some of the information on another were character in Relics and just adapting to Iron since I was extremely detailed. So might end up using Iron or create another Pc, Jacer Hayden in a scific/modern setting which the world keeps sticking in my head lately. Including his younger brother who's body is slowly turning to metal thanks to a disease.

Iron would have to be an artifact while Jacer's world could actually have been connected for a short time, including invaded by Empire fraction if that's alright. I got some wonderful ideas with that really.

No, the players created some compelling characters and motivations. Some wanted the NoW to enslave universes, some to destroy the Dreamers and some realized that such power must be kept from those who'd abuse it.
