The old bus shuddered as it made its way down the sand-coated road, with no stopping point in sight. The sweltering heat made you almost regret your decision, but with the promise of cool air, comfortable conditions, and dueling at the end of your journey, you simply waited. The chatter of other students on the bus made it almost impossible to think, though you tried, as you had an important decision to make. Which structure deck did you want? around 3 weeks ago, at the entrance exams, you were told that you wouldn't be able to bring your own cards, and would instead have to earn the cards you wanted. You would be able to choose a structure/starter deck to start with, and would earn points to buy more structure decks, cards, and packs.
At some point, you noticed a massive skyscraper, which looked extremely out of place here, in the middle of the desert. This was the Duel Tower. You could here the other new students cheering around you as the bus came to screeching halt in front of the school. Your group is stopped at the door by a staff member of some description.
"Follow the blue line on the wall to Arena B. You will pick up a duel disk and a deck there, and then we will commence your placement duels." The staff member stepped aside, letting your journey truly begin.
Information
The Duel Tower is a massive skyscraper in the middle of a desert, and is also one of the most well known Duel Academies in the modern world. It has 50 above-ground floors, and 3 below-ground levels.
Floor 1 is the Lobby, which is rather large, with painted lines on the floor to help guide new students to their destination. The next 9 floors contain recreational areas for students, such as the library, a gym, and a number of shops, most of which take both money and points. The shop you will most want to know about is the card market, which only deals in points. At the card market you can buy single copies of cards, structure decks, booster packs, and boxes. The booster packs/boxes available will change every 3 days, and there will be 5 different sets available during that time.
These are the duel arena floors, each floor with 2 Arenas(26 Arenas total). Each Arena can sustain 2 duels, or 1 tag duel, at any given time. Each arena is lettered. Floor 11 has Arena A and Arena B, 12 has C and D, and so on.
Floors 24-35 are for general classes, mostly large classrooms for classes on monsters, spells, traps, Duel Monsters history, and game mechanics. Floors 35-40 are for special classes, most of which teach the inner workings of certain types of Duel Arenas. These courses are not open to 1st years though, so ignore them.
These floors are off limits to students.
This level is for student dormitories, which are divided by skill level, determined during the placement duels. Each dorm is named after an attribute. There are 7 dorms, 3 for first years, and 3 for second and third years. The 7th dorm is for all of the worst students, anyone in that dorm is 1 fuck up away from expulsion.
First Year Dorms
Earth: This is the low-tier dorm for first years. Students put here have a low skill level, but have room for improvement. This dorm provides simple, yet functional accommodations for students.
Wind: This is the mid-tier dorm for first years. Students put here are rather average. This dorm provides functional accommodations for students, with a few luxuries not available to low-tier students.
Light: This is the top-tier dorm for first years. Students put here are above average, showing exceptional talent and promise. This dorm provides exceptional accommodations for students. There is much more pressure on Light Dorm students to do well than any other first year dorm.
Second and Third Year Dorms
Water(Mid-tier)
Fire(Top-tier)
Divine: This is the only God-tier dorm. The students in this dorm are the best of the best, almost guaranteed to become pro duelists. The dorm rooms are luxurious, and the students in this dorm are able to change the room in almost any way they want. Divine students have free access to the Acadamy's card library, and can make whatever decks they want with them.
The Dark Dorm: This dormitory is for the worst students, who either have horrible conduct, or a complete lack of ability, and show no promise. The Dorms here are of miserable quality, due mostly to the students ruining them, rather than them just being awful. Students in this dorm are usually 1 fuck up away from expulsion.
This level is for the staff dormitories. This level is off-limits to students. If a student is found in this area, they will be given a warning.
This level is for storage. This level is off-limits to most students. If a student is found here, they will be immediately expelled. The full card library is down on this level, so Divine students have full permission to go to the CL. They are not allowed anywhere else down there, though, so if they are found outside of the CL on this level, they will be investigated, and most likely, they will be expelled.
These locations are located outside of the Duel Tower.
This arena is set up in a large building a short distance from the tower. Essentially, it is a large indoor racetrack, along with seating for viewers. The Academy keeps its own set of Duel Runners for student use. This Arena cannot be used without teacher supervision.
This is something unique to the Duel Tower, a variation on turbo duels that uses dune buggies fitted for turbo duels, and the entire desert as the duel field. Each buggy has room for a driver and a duelist. Designated staff members drive the buggies, while students duel. The rules are essentially the same, except for "Desert traps" which replace trap cards. Speed spells become optional in this version.
This arena, which is also seperate from the duel tower, uses the same system found in Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. Action duels start with a random field spell being activated, and action cards being scattered across the field, which becomes a physical copy of the field spell. Action cards can be picked up and activated at any time. This type of duel usually involves riding one's monsters around the field, looking for action cards.
The old building is a decrepit, old, stone building about a mile from the Academy. Students are told to stay away from this area, due to it being home to dangerous animals and bugs.
Rules
1. No godmodding, bunnyhopping, powerplaying, or taking control/killing another player's character. 2. Follow all RPG rules 3. Don't be a dick, people don't like dicks. 4. No fighting in the OOC, take that shit to PM, or something. 5. If you are going to quit, make sure to tell me by PM, or in the OOC 6. Duels will be done through text, so use titanpad. There are many perks to this system, one of which is that you don't have to organize a specific time to duel. 7. do not godhand or stack. Godhanding is giving yourself a perfect hand, and stacking is giving yourself the perfect draws. To avoid both of these, assign a number to each card in your deck, and use a random number generator. Anyone found godhanding/stacking will be kicked from the RP. 8.Unless you are doing a duel in multiple segments, wait until at least 2 other people have posted before you post again. 9. Rulings will follow current TCG rulings (except for LP), first turn doesn't draw, 2 field spells can be active, ETC. 10. Duels will be fought with 4000 LP. 11. If you have a ruling question, ask me, the OOC, or google.

The Card Market
Whenever your character visits the card market, you can have them look through the different singles/packs available. If your character asks if they can stock a specific set, it will most likely be made available at the start of the next 3 day period.
Prices and points Prices will be based off of Troll and Toad prices. 1 point=10 cents. A booster pack of any set will cost 30 points. A booster box of any set will cost 600 points. A starter or structure deck will cost 100 points. Singles will cost their converted Troll and Toad price. They will always cost their cheapest, near-mint price. If you plan to buy a pack/box in your next post, PM me first, and I will figure out what you pull, and tell it to you. For every duel you win, you get 10 points, and for every duel you lose, you get 5 points. Make sure to keep track of your points and cards on your CS. Banned cards will not appear in packs.
Once the placement duels are over, the 3 days in which these sets are available will begin. These sets will be chosen at random, for the most part.

Custom Cards
You can either use these templates, or a custom card maker. Make sure to put these custom cards in the OOC, or in a PM to me, so that I can log them all in this post. Templates:
Please do not make cards that are overpowered, or exact copies of existing cards.
Structure Decks
Everyone will start the RP with a structure deck. If you create a custom structure deck, I will put the list here. Each deck can only be chosen by 1 person, so all decks that have already been claimed will also appear here. The rarity rule for structure decks (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Structure_Deck click here to learn about it) will not be enforced so that custom card structure decks can function.

All banned cards in the structure deck you want will be replaced with any card of the same level/rank or spell/trap type with a similar power level. You won't be replacing a Utopia with a Castel.

This section will list all current and past events in the RP. Italicized events have yet to occur, but are about to. 1. Arrival: You arrived at the Academy, along with the other students 2. Character Sheet
Name: Age: (14-17): gender: Appearance(Pic or description): Personality(You don't have to go into massive detail, one sentence is fine): History (keep this short): Favorite Card/Archetype or theme: (Example: Blue-eyes white dragon/Dragons) Chosen Structure Deck(Which structure deck did your character choose?): Chosen Pack (choose any pack of yugioh cards that has ever existed. If you don't want a pack, delete this section, and add 30 points to your points section.): Current deck (in a hider, list all the cards your character is currently running): Collection (as your character gains cards, you can put them in a hider here.): Points(Keep track of your points here. Points start at 0. +10 for a win, +5 for a loss, and +30 if you chose not to get a pack):
A win in a standard duel will give 10 points. A loss in a standard duel will give 5 points.
Special Events don't give points for wins unless specified in the rewards area.
Costs: 1 Booster Sets (2 Booster Packs) costs 15 points if it is a shop special, 20 points otherwise. 1 Booster Boxes (15 Booster Packs) costs 170 points if it is a shop special, 200 points otherwise.
1 Structure Deck costs 60 points \ But, the first structure deck you get is 66% of the original price (40 and 60, respectively) 1 Custom Structure Deck costs 90 points / (This is to prevent getting the cards you need for a powerful deck this early and price will .......................................................................increase based on the amount of decks bought)
Custom Structure Deck rules: You may have up to 7 custom cards (7 custom cards, but you may have multiple of each custom card) and you choose up to 25 cards in your deck, the rest will be balanced out with generic cards such as Call of the Haunted, MST, etc, unless the deck can't use said cards (Royal Decree) so the deck would be 20 monsters, 10 spells, 10 traps unless the deck relies on monsters, has royal decree, etc.
(again, to make sure people don't get the cards they need too early)
The Shop:
Card packs will rotate around with 6 packs being the choice cards. These packs have a discount. For the first few days, all card packs will be choice. For now, this is empty.
You can also buy single cards at the ratio of 1 point = 10c, up to 70 points for a singular card
I'm working on an Ally Of Justice deck as we speak, but how would we get speed spells? Do we get a starter set to replace our regular spells or do we choose our own?
6. Duels will be done through text, so use. There are many perks to this system, one of which is that you don't have to organize a specific time to duel.
Uh.... how can this work? Won't people just cheat?
Also this rp seems incredibly complicated, having to get a structure deck from which there are tons of which are significantly weaker than later decks and the like XD

If you read further, you'd notice that we are going to use a random number generator to draw cards. Anyone found cheating will be kicked from the rp.
As for the structure deck... well, I'll just say that it'll be a challenge.

I just realized I fucked up in a few places with the OP. I'm incredibly sick right now, though, so I will get some rest and then deal with everything here. Sorry.
Hey, uh, what, exactly, is the difference between our Structure deck we get at the beginning, and the "Current Deck" part in the cs? Is it just something we update as the rp progresses, or what?

I will introduce the solution when we get to that point.
Name: Vincent Gulfus Age: 14 gender: Male Appearance:
Personality: Vincent's personality is can be described as crowd shy, and he has sometimes made blunders causing him to lose, due to his fear of being judged, without the crowd though, he is a cheerful person. who enjoys experiencing all of life, especially when it comes to dueling. (if only their wasn't people watching all the time)
History: The road to a duelist academy is usually a one of ambition, and Vincent is no different in the ambition to become a world class pro duelist, so when it came time to enroll in a dueling academy, Vincent choose the one that looked like it could offer the most to him for the future, even though it would be a sweltering hot desert. he would try and become the best he can be, mainly conquering his fear of crowd's.
(more of his backstory will be revealed through character interaction, hopefully this is long enouth) Favorite Card: (Currently) Bottomless Trap hole (because its one of the good removal traps) Chosen Structure Deck: Dragon's Collide Chosen Pack: Judgement of Light Current deck :
Personality: Michelle is the type of person who's usually calm, cold, and calculating (one might call this "pragmatic") in everyday situations. In Duels, however, she reveals more emotions such as excitement and frustration.
History: Michelle used to frequent local card shops, entering their mini tournaments and usually placing at least first or second place. However, as time dragged on, Michelle grew bored. Her opponents didn't really offer much of a challenge. She desired a strong opponent to Duel against. When she found out about the Duel Academy, though, she thought it sounded interesting. Perhaps it could offer her a challenge.
Favorite Card/Archetype or theme: Whatever is most powerful at the moment
Chosen Structure Deck: Knights of Light (custom)
Chosen Pack: Duelist Genesis
-Monsters: 19 Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin x 1 Meltiel, Sage of the Sky x 1 Harvest Angel of Wisdom x 1 Hecatrice x 1 Nova Summoner x 2 Gellenduo x 1 Zeradias, Herald of Heaven x 1 Freya, Spirit of Victory x 1 Shining Angel x 1 Airknight Parshath x 2 Trust Guardian x 1 Archlord Kristya x 1 Bountiful Artemis x 2 Squire Parshath x 2
-Spells: 11 Calling of the Sky x 2 Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen x 2 Parshath Armaments x 1 Photon Lead x 1 Terraforming x 1 Cestus of Dagla x 1 The Sanctuary in the Sky x 2 Photon Sanctuary x 1
Traps: 10 Aegis of Gaia x 1 Negate Attack x 2 Solemn Warning x 1 Magic Jammer x 1 Dark Bribe x 2 Seven Tools of the Bandit x 1 Divine Punishment x 2
Personality: Ethel is very soft-spoken and quite deadpan at that, she shows emotion through only very minor changes in her behaviour. The girl doesn't seem to know a whole lot about communicating with people and can get misunderstood quite easily. In a duel she can lose her temper very quickly and go off the hook, becoming more ruthless the angrier she is to the point where if it's someone she hates she could just outright scream for them to get killed.
History: Ethel's led a sheltered life with a rich family, never really going out in the open much. Not at all, really. Her pale skin is because of her staying inside so much, which causes her stamina to also be much lower than a normal person's. She recieved minor dueling education a little while back, enough to learn her the basics of how to play, but before that she was always occupied in other lessons such as different languages or different musical instruments. She is able to do a whole lot as long as it doesn't require too much physical exercise but at the same time hasn't had the chance to talk to a whole lot of people. Her parents sent her out to the duel tower to give a better education on duel monsters.
Novice is basically a man-eating bug or the like of which, so nothing special there. I'd say personally houndmaster is underpowered but I kinda love the card for it.
